Where does the achievement "They're over 900!" mentioned near the bottom of the guide come from? I can't find a trace of it on wowhead.

Truly a labour of love! Thanks for pouring so much time and effort into this. As a fellow guide writer, I briefly thought about tackling all of the mounts in one guide, but with my other guides to maintain I decided against it.

This is an amazing guide! Although, regarding your recommendations for the human paladin with engineering and tailoring, I'd like to remind you and everyone else that mounts and pets are account-wide. Meaning you can do it with any class, and race, and then create another character who would have access to the exclusives.

I'd recommend making a Druid instead because we have a LOT of utility. Instant flight form, aquatic form, all 3 roles, can teleport any time to our order hall with lots of portals to everywhere. If you want, you can also have a human who will be your rep grinding guy. Hopefully Blizzard one day decides that humans can be Druids as well.

oooh I'm so happy to see a current guide! The ones I've been using have not been updated past 7.1.5 sadly.
Although already there's a new mount out not on this guide yet (latest store mount)

I haven't scrutinized every tab yet, what mount is it that Alliance can get that puts them 1 over Horde?

Also, as a side note, the profession mounts do seem to count toward your "on a single character" even if that character can't actually summon them. Presumably because you could use them if you swapped professions. Unlike class-specific ones like pally chargers. (I do get the point you're making to save time and effort if you want to min/max or streamline your collection efforts- I collect mounts on my hunter but log into my pally on a regular basis to bump my achieve tracker up)

Now, if only reading guides helped with RNG.....that fox mount is proving extremely elusive!

The new Azeroth map has thrown out all the pins... Hope to get it fixed quickly but it is a big job remapping them all. :(

One thing I should request is that there be a section with Mounts and Pets divided into organized tabs based on source. While the leveling plan works well if you are starting from scratch, it's nice to be able look for specific mounts and pets by category.

I was writing a guide, and then I found this. You cover a lot of what I was going to cover, so well done.

I have to ask why you say you need a Worgen, Goblin, and Pandaren. If it is just for the pets they can buy, those pets are tradable and able to be purchased off of the Auction House. Unless of course, I am missing something.

On the Classes you say you need, why is it Warlock/Demon Hunter? I assume this means both gain access to the same pet?

To further optimize your suggestions, the only combination that works for Race/Class is having a Human Paladin as your Main (obviously), a Worgen Druid, Pandaren Shaman, and a Goblin Warlock.

This also allows great potential for unlocking transmog across all of your characters. You can transfer anything that's BoE from your Main to unlock the transmog on your Alts. Paladin for Plate, Shaman for Mail, Druid for Leather. If your Warlock is Goblin, it won't be able to receive the items. This could miss out on some weapon unlocks though, I'm not sure and will have to verify.

A Goblin Warlock Alt does allow you to get the Double Agent achievement, but if you can bypass the Goblin restriction, a Blood Elf Demon Hunter would get you the same achievement much faster. Could be useful as your Double Agent character won't be receiving any support from your other characters.

That would all allow you to make your Cloth wearer Alliance and give you access to unlocking Transmog and those achievements. To keep with a different race for each class, I like the flavor of a Draenei Priest, for lore reasons.

I recommend playing on the realm Stormrage as it has a majority Alliance population allowing for more Raiding and end game content/achievements. It is also a PvE realm, so you won't have to worry about World PvP while you're out collecting.

All in all, extremely nice guide! Achievement optimization is beautiful.

By the way, you can use the 海龟 from level 1.

It's base speed is the same as normal character walking speed, but if you're in a guild you'll get the 10% speed boost from Mount Up 骑乘加速, so there's a slight advantage to riding the turtle until you hit 20! :D

the achievement for mount collecting was changed in legion to say "that can be used by one character" due to the 36 new mounts they added in game that are class specific (assumedly)

unfortunately, this means a huge loss on the total mount count

none of the extra race mounts count
having the horde and alliance chopper now only counts as having one mount
goblin and gnomish engineering mounts lost half their points due to not being able to use them at the same time
profession only mounts (mainly tailoring and engineering) only count on one toon.
to make things even more frustrating, they also added profession only mounts in warlords for the rest of the professions..so theres more points lost
mounts that are rep gated (there are a few i believe) only count on the toon that has the rep
mounts that are not account bound (i think there are a couple still from special events removed from game) do not count except on the toon that acquired them

however, bfa saved the day as now ALL VICIOUS SADDLE MOUNTS AND PVP MOUNTS ARE ACCOUNT WIDE.

currently sitting at 225/250

Awesome guide, although class mounts doesnt count as mounts. For example the druids class mount is a shapeshifting spell... i assume its something similar for the others. when U hover ur mouse over the names, it doesnt say summon mount as it always does

Im confussed about the 6 mounts accessible to paladins... i have been researching, and couldnt find any that isnt a summon or race specific... am i missing something?

Zandalari Empire: Natal'hakata sells Reins of the Armored Albino Pterrordax, Reins of the Armored Ebony Pterrordax, Reins of the Armored Orange Pterrordax, and Reins of the Cobalt Pterrordax

The only mount available from Natal'hakata (Zandalari reputation) is the Cobalt Pterrordax; all others were removed prior to launch of BFA I believe.

There’s a pet you missed called Redridge Tarantula, which drops from a rare spawn in Redridge Mountains with a 100% drop rate, so I think you should go and update the lvl10-19 section of your guide to be “Stay in Darkshore until you get your pet and you’re level 15, then go to Redridge Mountains.” This spawn scales with your level so you could theoretically kill it at lvl1 if you managed to sneak past all the over mobs that are there. Heirlooms are useful for doing this at a really low level.

Pretty big update; I've tried to do a better job of laying out Mounts vs Pets, fixing the flow of each tab and the new World Map is fairly impressive (if I do say so myself). Will be back with more soon, the Lists needs some work...

Hi Everyone. Since this guide has not been updated in nearly 3 years, I asked Wowhead if I could update it for Shadowlands and Dragonflight content. Please bear with me while I start this process.

Just wanted to add a quick update that I am currently starting to format and getting ready to start adding the Dragonflight items first. Once I get that all done, then I will work backward.

I've been told that there is a mount specifically only for Dwarven Paladins.
If this true, how do you get it?
From what I heard it is from a quest and belongs to Vanilla WoW, but I may be wrong on that.
I created a Dwarf Paladin just to get this mount now that I have over 500 mounts usable on every single character that I have.

if you link your BNET account to wowhead, I just noticed at the bottom it shows a number xx/xxx for each mounts or pets to show how many you still need which is critical for a mount collector like me. I'm not a big pet collector, I do collect but not as much as the mounts! This is a great guide! Thank you!
