This seems to be the new fishing bag from the fishing daily quests.
Unfortunately, with the lvl 10 requirement and relatively low level of fishing needed to do these quests, there is no Porcelain Bell (100g) random grey or anything like it.
Now, it MIGHT exist, but such a low drop rate that Wowhead hasn't found it yet.
This is reasonable, especially considering that at the time of this post, very few total have beet looted.
Honestly, I like that the Cata fishing daily will be done primarily for the
Swim Speed Potion
Elixir of Water Walking
. In Wrath, thanks to how proliferant the daily made the latter in my bags, I was never afraid to pop a Water Walking to benefit me in the most trivial situations, like crossing a river, or getting to The Blacksmith faster at the start of an AB. This potion-popping ease of mind gets extended in Cata! You know those Swimspeed Potions will be useful in Vash'ir, and the Swiftness potions can be used for so many sexy things.
I only wish they had included
in the bags, but I suppose beggars can't be choosers. Oh man, and imagine if it had
Free Action Potions
too! A Gnome can dream . . .
EDIT: People are taking what I said too literally. I know in my head that each potion has a value in gold no matter where it came from. What I'm saying is, I didn't personally buy them, so I can remain ignorant of the gold that could be made by selling them. For example, if I bought them from the AH, I would know that each potion cost me exactly X gold. However, unless I get them from the daily, go to the AH to see how much they are going for, and
use them myself, this avenue of obtaining them is relatively guilt-free.
Basically, I'm being blissfully ignorant and playing a mental game with myself to avoid feeling guilty for using a fun item
I feel the rewards right now are rather underwhelming. For someone who is max fishing and level capped there is no incentive to do these whatsoever. These are great for low levels though to get some xp!
Not running the client at the moment, but I did just receive
Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat
in my Bag of Shiny Things, first daily post-shattering. Presumably other valuables like the fishing poles may also be contained therein.
I got a
Mythical Healing Potion
from one of my bags, but unfortunately I was on my laptop not running the client, so the data wont populate for that looting. Also interesting, is that the potion I got out of the bag said "Restores 10000 health", not the range of HP like this one does.
This shouldn't be surprising that there are HP pots in there, and I would assume there will be Mana pots as well.
I Just got a Strand Crawler like someone else. hopefully they have some more interesting blues to make it worth your while :)
No new fishing line? THAT makes me a sad panda.
I got a
Undelivered Love Letter
the next day, I laughed xD
All I've gotten were stuff to do with water (Swim speed and walk on water) so far and some grays, I like it it will help in Cata's underwater places :D
Blizzard can't seriously expect us to be happy with these rewards, can they?
Upgraded bag of stuff for the higher levels, please...
The only reason for a high end fisherman to spend time on these dailies is for the +1 fishing skill.
These bag is nice for lowbies, but for anyone above level 10, this stuff is pretty much garbage.
Edit: This may also be worth doing for the weather-beaten fishing hat, or the strand crawler, if you want an extra chance to get them and do not already have them. By the time you are 525, though, you probably already have them.
Update: As of 4.0.6, you can also get the jeweled and bone fishing rods that have +30 fishing. Personally, I'd prefer the kalu'ak fishing rod, or even the tournament fishing rod, but they are (very rarely) available in this bag if you want a shot at getting them.
Does anyone know if the two fishing poles can be gotten in this, or should I keep doing the dalaran fishing quests as well?
There are no more 100g items to vendor *sniffle*
Here's hopin there are actually multiple daily quests given by the fishing daily questgivers, with one being given out depending on level, and there is a level 85 version that gives more gold and a more interresting bag.
Well I'm getting my 5 fishing quest for the achievement and then I think I'm done with the fisihign daily for this exp. Least till they change it.
The incentive for high levels to do these is, according to WoWhead, they can drop the Crab pet, and I'm sure there are many other level 80s who, like me, have been doing the fishing daily since it was added almost and STILL haven't got it to drop from the Dalaran ones.
Not only that, but in addition to not having to go all the way to Dalaran now with the portals removed to try for the crab pet, IF we want to still, we have 2 tries per day to get it.
I see no reason to do these with the drops so bad. I liked the chance at a fishing pole by doing the Dalaran ones.
Unlike the reward from Dalaran fishing dailies, this bag will give you a very small sum of money. While Dalaran bags can give you at least 1 gold, these will give you 5 silver at most. In my experience doing these, I have gotten 15 silver total from these.
On the other hand, the skill-ups will come in handy from December 7th until the skill cap is reached. I hope Blizzard can find out a way to escalate the contents of the bags to the fishing skill level to make it attractive after 525, when the skill-up reward is not necessary.
A BIG NOTE:
The reason you aren't getting much from these is because they cannot drop new materials yet as Cataclysm hasn't launched. I'm not quite sure what these will drop, maybe volitiles or new fish, but this is what makes the most sense. I would highly suggest you save your bags until Cataclysm drops just in case this is true.
i got the fishing hat, although the one I got only had 3 stam and 3 spirit and was ilevel 10.
Not sure if it's a bug item or that it's supposed to drop low level fishing hats. Other that the stats it was the same as the high level one, 5 fishing and use for 75 fishing.
Over 30k loots recorded, so its pretty safe to say the current loot table is what you get. No bell or high value vendor trash.
Am I the only one doing the daily and
opening them? At the moment, from opening them on 2 toons for the first 3 days, and from looking at the loot tables here on wowhead, there is very little to gain from them.
HOWEVER, in Wrath they added things like the epic gem drops and the cooking recipe at a later date - and people who had kept hold of the bags found it possible to get the new drops after the patch, indicating that the patch which added the items also reset the contents. So, I am stockpiling these and hoping...
I see it this way.. Blizzard made this new bag less interesting for highlvls, and compleatly uninteresting for lvl 525 players.. What a relieve.. I dont have to spend time fishing anymore for other than achivements or cathcing my own food. No dailies is required to do the achivements..
Ah yea these rewards are garbage, i'm not an alchemist and i still do not care about those 3 pots. Throw in some rare finds so ppl want to do these or have more than 1 daily somewhere else. It was exciting getting a rare quest or something fun occassionaly, not gray junk and a water walking pot.
It gave me absolutely nothing every time for I don't know how long. Today I got a Strand Crawler pet out of my bag. Happy.
Incorrect logic on most all of your parts.
In short. Nothing is free if it can be sold or traded, it always has a value
If the item was obtained without cost then it is, indeed, free. Whether it has direct value to resale either on the AH or to a vendor is immaterial to the fact it was obtained without an exchange of currency or item(s) of equivalent value. One may argue that it was not obtained for free since the player spent time and potentially gold (flight point fees, etc) to complete a quest which awarded the item , however, this cost would be true in both the case of subsequently using the item or selling it making it an equal factor.
The arguement stating:
In real world terms, this attitude is like saying: "I found $100 on the side of the road, now I'm going to go and spend it since it's free money. It doesn't matter if I waste it since I wont loose anything." In this case you just lost $100.
You would not have lost $100 as you would have exchanged curreny for items . . its called spending. So using the item you did get for free would be no different than selling it, buying something else with that money and then using that item. Whether you buy 1 item for $100 or 100 items for $1 each, you have a net gain / loss of 0. Buying consumable items is not inherrently loss, since you have intended use and have placed a value on that use equal to the amount you are willing to spend to aquire that use. So using consumable items you have gained without purchase is not a loss.
Which makes the arguement:
- You have 10g, and gain 2g. You now have 12g and have made a gain.
- After this, you spend the 2g. You now have 10g and have made a loss.
. . simply wrong. You spent 2g on something. 10g coin + 2g capital investment = 12 gold, therefore, neither a gain nor a loss. Even a consumed item (in this case Water Walking Potions) is an investment of capital intended for use and as such not a loss. Had you bought the potion and destroyed it or sold it for less than its purchase price, then yes, you would have incurred a loss. In this case, having obtained the item without cost and received the benefit of its use, you have actually proven a gain.
Only on an individual case of "My use of this item was equivalent to the monetary value I could have received for it" does that individual have the opportunity to decide if it was gain or loss. Such is the nature of consumable items.
This is a naive point of view that is common amongst many social WoW players and a behaviour that is exploited by many those of us making gold on the AH. This is why you will often be able to pick up cheap mats, since a leveling character dumps their stock since it "cost them nothing" to gather in the first place
A leveling character is pursuing a goal other than that of economic advancement. In the pursuit of that task, they aquire items with ascribed values of various forms ( an item's value as the item or its value as an enchanting mat). As the random and unintended aquisition of items occurred during that time, those items were obtained without cost. That is, if a player is "spending" their time to complete a quest, they will have balanced the value of their time vs the known value of completing that quest . . ultimately deciding if the quest is a gain or loss vs their time. Obtaining random items and selling them to a vendor for minimum prices, using them, or placing them on the AH for minimum prices, are direct gains as they were obtained in addition to the value of completing the quest.
The "many those of us making gold on the AH" are the ones gambling at taking losses. Such is the nature of playing any market. Where the leveling character is spending their time playing the game with known rewards, AH profiteers are hoping they invest their time and gold in the aquisition of "cheap mats" to resell for profit. Those mats (or items or whatever) did cost the leveling player nothing, as they were obtained secondary to the costed value of the time spent. The AH player invests their time in monitoring the auction house . . first to seek out items which they believe are underpriced to aquire and attempt to resell at higher prices . . second to then watch their own listings to avoid not making a sale from being undercut and having an auction expire (a direct loss since a listing fee was paid).
For those who are actually playing the game, the investment of their time is in the game and the development of their characters. For those who are playing the market inside the game, the investment of their time is spent watching the AH. It is naive of
to view WoW as a game of economic machinations, instead of its clearly ascribed existence as a social game of go out and explore.
Should be renamed in "Bag of Crappy Things"
I think the main reward for this daily to those who are fishing-capped or who don't care about fishing or mini-pets could be the guild reputation it offers. At 85 I'm getting ~40 for it :)
The bag contents are pretty meh though... I wish they'd put back in the funny and occasionally high-priced greys. Or add some archeology shards in there. I'm sure all the Deathwing-prompted construction has unearthed some stuff!
I find myself less motviated to do this daily now that I am capped. The rewards are lackluster at best. Previous fishing dailies offered a nice bit of gold, unique quests, special fishing lines, and valuable vendor trash. This bag offers actual trash--to be vendored for a few copper. <sigh>
Still quick and useful for Guild rep when maxed for fishing though
Agree with Tonko, some archeology shards would be fair content for all levels
I don't understand what would be so bad about putting items in similar to the WotLK items. So a level 15 might get a nice vendor item every now and then. New players already have it bad enough with how little gold they can make 1-60. They really need to put more in this bag to make it worth doing (and not the hat and pet I got years ago).
do a level based quest for this daily, so both low levels and high levels can benefit on this.
It's a typo, I am sure. The item was supposed to be called "Bag of #$%^ty Things."
As maxed in fishing, with the listed rewards in the bag..... only reason I'd keep doing this is for the easy 39 guild rep.... not bad for about 30 seconds (ok, maybe 3 or 4 minutes) of "work"
I got a fishing hat from this, having done the shatt and dalaran dalies for ages :\
I think the reason for the lower items is that this daily is friendly to low level toons as well. The most dangerous two for a level 10 are the Thunderfalls one with the Defias around, fearsome dangerous terrifying level 7 Defias, or the one that requires you swim under the docks for the lobster cages due to the level 85 sharks swimming there. For a level 85 this is easy-peasy and you don't have to leave Stormwind save for Thunderfalls which is just outside the gate.
In Wrath, we had to literally go from one end of the Continent to the other to get our Fishing Dailies done (Monsterbelly Appetite before they nerfed it anyone?). A lot of us have already forgotten how big a pain it was to get those dailies done. I can't even remember how many times I got Ganked in Wintergrasp doing the Terrorfish daily ( A PVPer I am not! ), Then there was the whole Fly to Borean Tundra, Kill Beast, Jump in Ocean, Fish blood Pool. Yet we all pretty much remember the one daily that didn't' take us out of Dalaran, Jewel of the Sewers. Run to Sewer, fish, turn in. This is pretty much what the Stormwind Dailies consist of except The Lobster Cages. ( Now I don't want to hear about the Stormwind Daily that has us find the Bait first, its right by the pond! )
I agree maybe just a little more Cash is a little slim even at low levels, its actually harder for them to finish these as they don't have Shiny Flying mounts to go to and from with, and until level 20 they don't even have a mount! The gray items sell for more than that! But the fact that you can get the same rewards for this as you did in the wrath Bag (Sans Porceline bell, oh how I miss thee ) I should say the Same Blue rewards with the occasional Potion, I really can't say the Bag is all that bad for the effort (Or lack there of) required to do the Cataclysm Fishing Dailies.
You forget you also get +1 Fishing Skill so if you have indeed neglected Leveling it, that is 6 fishing casts right there worth of experience.
You have the opportunity to acquire missed blue items from Wrath (Woot for two tries in a day for these items!)
You get Guild Rep (42) for completing this. You are in a Guild right? If not then well, I guess this doesn't apply to you.
You get the full amount of turn in gold for this quest.
Someone who isn't exalted with Stormwind will have to tell me if you get Faction Rep for this or not.
Lets not forget the most important thing of all
You get the choice of Doing this Daily or Going off and doing something else!
Maybe they'll upgrade this for higher levels sometime. As I recall, didn't they start the fishing dailies in Dalaran some months after the expac WOTLK came out? I think it's just a matter of time before they upgrade this one. I mean there are other things also that they are still in the process of working on.
As of patch 4.0.6 Rare fishing poles now have a chance to be found in these bags.
I got a different pet 3 days ago, its not shown on wowhead, the icon is a bucket, cant check the name right now as the server is down
I saved 5 of these and opened them all this morning and (amongst junk) received:
Glass Fishing Bobber
(that doesn't work)
Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat
As far as I knew, the journal wasn't usually dropping from these bags, but it appears it does now. I know RNG is RNG, but just from my 5 bag sample size today and getting 3 'rares', it appears drop rates may have been increased.
drops now as of 4.0.6
I was doing the daily quests every day for a month now, got the pet in my very first daily, then nothing untill today when I received both "Jeweled Fishing Rod" and "Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat" both in one bag.. lucky me, I guess ? :P
I've got auto loot on though so couldn't screenshot :(
i got Recipe: Captain Rumsey's Lager
from my bag today! :D
Zero sum situation means that you neither gain nor loss.
Imagine you are at 0, you can go either negative or positive. You gain 2 positive points, now later you spend two points. Will you make a loss?
No, you will be at the same place you was before. This principle is one of the more basic with business and profits to understand how much a corporation goes up or down.
Company A spends 60 millions, but gain 120 millions.
Company B spends 20 million, but gain 80 millions.
Which business was more profitable?
Answer is company B who trippled there assets, So they gained a 200% winning. Comapny A however gained 100% in winning.
Anyhow the fishing Q kinda sucks, but I will keep doing it due it give me something to do. They should update a loottable for us 85 players.
they should add some new items or some better items than the ones from dalaran.
I got the hat and jeweled fishing pole in my first two bags. I haven't seen the sand crawler in two months of doing the daily.
Erm..Theres always the loss of opportunity...
You have 10g
You got a free potion
You drank a free potion
You could have sold the free potion on the AH for 20g
You have 10g
You lost 20g right there ;o
By my reckoning only about 7 of the 32 things that can be in this bag are actually shiny. I am disappoint.
Should be renamed "bag of wasted subscription time."
This sweety dropped on my first bag
So, I was on queue for random dungeon and saw a daily quest from a fishing trainer (well, near him). Queue timer showed that I had over 10 minutes to spare and went for it. I didnt have fishing trained yet so I trained it and went to Southfury river to find a huge spike or whatever the daily quest gave to me. Throwed first fishing bob since Vanilla and got a raw fish. Okay. Next, raw fish and a quest item. Nice and easy. Back to quest giver and return the quest and got this Bag of Shiny things. Inside of it Shining bauble, jaw bone and Bone Fishing pole. My day was done right there.
When I opened the bag I got both the weather beaten fishing hat and the jeweled fishing pole in the same bag, yay.
For those whining about bad rewards, if you really want cool rewards, go back to doing the Dalaran Fishing Daily. There is no reason why you can't. Set your hearth to Dalaran if it is a problem. Dalaran has a useable auction house now and a portal to Orgrimmar so there really is no issue to not doing it if you really want great rewards.
Those longe-tounged Oracles would probably
I'm starting to lose hope after getting both Fishing Poles and still no sign of the Strand Crawler...
For those of us who farmed the Marcia Chase daily in Dalaran 'til we had everything, there's really no reason to do these with the small exceptions of boosting your fishing skill (if you're not at max level) and getting the Fish or Cut Bait achievements (if you don't have them already).
If you do have the achievements, and your fishing skill is maxed, the Marcia Chase quests are worth it (just for the chance of getting a waterlogged recipe) while this quest simply isn't. The Dalaran quests have all the good rewards you can get here, and more on top of that. It ought to be the other way round, oughtn't it?
In a nutshell, don't waste one of your 25 daily attempts on this. It isn't worth it.
With these rewards,it is started to waste of time...
Got jeweled fishing pole on my second fishing daily, i think thats pretty lucky :)
Okay, I think I skewed all probability with just one bag. I got a
in my first bag on this character.
Damn, I got all the other things I could possibly get from that bag and I just cannot get that Weather Beaton Fishing Hat!
The rewards are ancillary. Those of us who keep doing the dailies do it because we like WOW fishing, period. The occasional Jeweled Pole or Stendel's Ring is simply a nice bonus to a comfortable bit of amusement.
It could be anything Lois, even a boat. I hope its a boat.
Well, isn't it a lucky day for me! Just got done doing the Thunder Bluff Daily and got the Bone Fishing Pole and the Strand Crawler in 1 bag! I almost pinched myself to see if i was dreaming!
Am I the only one that thinks that 150 Timewarped Badges (TBs) is a joke? I would think Blizz would have upgraded the loot from this when including it in the items purchasable from Timewarped vendors. Can buy a 675 Chest piece for 25-TBs or sink TBs into Heirloom upgrades or the two Toys. I just don't see a need for this, but I'm just a simple Paladin of the Light, what do I know.
ooooh soooo shiny!
In my experience, all of the various rare and uncommon drops from
each have independent chances to drop.
I have opened a single
for example. Other times I've had other combinations like
This means some lucky soul could theoretically loot all of rare drops and the uncommon recipe out of the same
This is great for fans of RNG.
will not appear for characters who have already learned those skills from previously looted items.
Got the Bone fishing pole from my second bag, 300 timewalking badges worth, not bad
