was merely a setback!
Coming in Legion, this tier 19 raid will be released soon after the release of the expansion .
This raid will be a 10-30 player raid on Normal/Heroic, 20 player on Mythic, 10-25 on LFR.
This is currently set to be a 7+ boss raid.
Access to the raid will be through Shaladrassil in
The Emerald Nightmare is a corrupted portion of The Emerald Dream. There are many theories as to who originally corrupted the Emerald Dream, creating the Nightmare, but whether it was N'Zoth, Hakkar, or some other entity, Xavius claimed the Nightmare as his own and named himself Lord.
The Satyr(s), let by Xavius, are attempting to further corrupt the Emerald Dream, and bring said corruption out of the dream, and into Azeroth itself.
For Nightmare, Nythendra is first. After that, you can tackle the next 4 bosses in any order. That allows access to Cenarius, who is indeed the penultimate boss. And then Xavius is last.
Currently Known Bosses:
Pestilence Wyrm, twisted by the Nightmare
An Archdruid, corrupted and broken
The name seems to imply a connection to N'Zoth.
Dragons of Nightmare
Ysera's Lieutenants, twisted by the Nightmare and the power behind it. (They were world bosses in Classic WoW)
The first Satyr on Azeroth

What item level is required for LFR?
The item level requirement to queue for
in LFR difficulty will be 825.
Item Levels - Gear and Relics
The item level of drops are listed below. Relics that drop will upgrade your artifact weapons by a specific amount - these are noted below as well.
Relic Item Level*
Artifact Weapon Item Level Boost
Maximum possible Titanforged quality
Relics can have random ilvl upgrades, and can be Titanforged as well. The above are simply examples of the base quality relics and the boost they provide to Artifact Weapons.
Will Tier 19 Gear drop in
Tier 19 armor set pieces (namely the ones with 2 and 4 set bonuses) will not drop in this raid, but will rather be obtainable in
in Patch 7.2
Note that the item levels above are BASE item levels, and that the "+" indicates that each item has a small chance to be upgraded to a higher item level, in increments of 5.
A minor upgrade proc (5-10 item levels) from base item level is designated as "Warforged".
If any item drops that is 15 or more item levels above the base item level, it is given the "Titanforged" tag.
The hard cap for all items is item level 895 for this tier - this would mean, for example, that someone running Normal difficulty could obtain an item between 850 and 895 item level.
In theory, an item in LFR difficulty could drop that was "Titanforged: 895 item level", but the chances of this are so low that an individual would have to run LFR for 10 years or more to have a reasonable chance of such an occurrence.
Legion Looting Changes
In Legion, when the loot system is set to Personal Loot, any gear that drops for you that is
an upgrade (in terms of item level) for a specific slot can be traded to other players in the raid group!
Bonus rolled loot cannot be traded.
The new bonus roll currency is
, which can be purchased from
for Gold or
. The hard cap is 6.
Do you know what is the suggested ilvl for normal hc and mythic?
Is this considered outdoors?
What are the ilvl reqs for the LFR version?
Does anyone have a map with boss locations? Would be appreciated if someone can direct me to such a reference ty : ]
Why are there structures built inside the nightmare, I thought it was still the dream, just with the corruption at some spots.
Nowadays this raid gives worse gear than WORLD QUESTS (also Mythic 5-man dungeons).
It needs either gear scaling or a Mythic+ difficulty setting as there's little motivation to do this raid once players get to Argus.
I've been trying to do this on 8.0.1, but I can't get to Cenarius after killing the first 5 bosses.
Does anyone know where I can find the NPC for doing the LFR-Version?
I was able to easily solo Emerald Nightmare on mythic difficulty as an ilvl 444 fury warrior.
Nythendra: Use all CD's+Drums to burn her before the MC. ~52k dps
Ursoc: Same strat as Nythendra. Had to use enraged regeneration at the end as he does a lot of damage. ~51k dps
Dragons: Use all CD's and burn them down. Cleaving really helps due to their shared health pool.
Elerethe: Nothing special just burn her down. The pools of venom do almost no damage.
Il'gynoth: Kill adds and bring ichor to the eye. Burn down the heart. Killed him in one eye phase.
Cenarius: Burn him down and cleave adds when they show up. His reflect did almost nothing to me.
Xavius: Use all CD's+Drums. Enter the dream and burn hard. He had 20k hp left after my first corruption ended. ~146k dps due to the adds.
To avoid a bug where Malfurion doesn't open the way to Cenarius when solo-ing the raid, complete the bosses in this order: Nythendra -> Elerethe -> Ursoc -> Dragons -> Il’gynoth. Also, don't kill the bosses too fast and allow Elerethe to transition to her phase 2.
If you're soloing this and can't figure out how to leave the instance, go straight behind Malfurion and friends to the meadow where you'll see a big treant walking; hang a quick left to the big portal and you're free!
To queue for LFR go to
Can you add which branch/portal of Core of the Nightmare leads to which boss? So far I have:
Mulgore: Elerethe Renferal
Un'Goro Crater: Il'gynoth
I've noticed that if you kill LFR Xavius and leave the instance group while being transported to the Emerald Dream, you end up getting teleported straight to the entrance of the non-LFR version of the raid. Great way to save some travel time if you happen to want to run the non-LFR version as well!
