Seems like it's time for sushi .
Coming in 5.2: Quote from Mumpers Twitter:
These new battle pets are from fishing. Each one from a unique area in Pandaria.
This is one of 4 new pets coming in 5.2, all of the fish are exceptionally rare drops obtained via fishing in their respective areas. Unfortunately as of right now, all of the fish seem to be BoP, and none of them are cageable. I highly recommend reading
El's Anglin's Tiny Carp
page if you're interested in fishing one up.
can be fished up in either
The other fish available are
drops from the Enchanted Woods of the Lost area.
This pet does indeed drop from Krasarang Wilds. I just fished this guy up while completing the 'Shocking!' daily quest handed to players by The Anglers faction, at the large pool of water around 62.8, 23.3 :) Just a side note, level 600 fishing is not required to catch this pet, as I did it with a fishing level of 592 :)
Caught one from a Krasarang Paddlefish school in Valley of the Four Winds in the Yan-Zhe river. Makes a little 'ding' sound when it goes in your bag, but didn't ask me if I wanted to loot it.
It is BoP and can't be put in a cage to sell or give to a friend.
(Apparently you can now cage it, thanks Reirae & Divalish!)
Mine was a rare (blue) pet with the following pet battle abilities:
Level 1: Water Jet
Level 2: Cleansing Rain
Level 4: Whirlpool
Level 10: Surge
Level 15: Healing Stream
Level 20: Invisibility
Not sure that it matters, but I was using
Ancient Pandaren Fishing Charm
and caught this in the same cast with a Krasarang Paddlefish.
I more recently was able to catch three of these pretty quickly from the Brew Frenzied Emperor Salmon schools that spawn near the Stormsnout Brewery for the fishing daily.
I just fished one up in Krasarang Wilds. I was leveling my fishing and was only 390 when I caught this lovely pet. It took me about 4 hours.
So I spent a couple hours today farming the new mass fishing pools in Krasarang Wilds leveling my fishing and hoping to catch one of these. I caught one after 219 casts, all of which were into the new daily pools. I wasn't using a lure but was using some cheap fishing pole. I was at 328 skill when I finished.
i just got a tiny green carp from my first emperor salmon swarm in valley of the four winds, my fishing skill is at 115 so i guess you do not need a specific skill level to get these pets.
Got mine from the Fish of the Day event in Jade Forest. Seems to be the more reliable source for this one.
Caught it in the Valley of the Four Winds at Cattail Lake.
Took me 8 mins, it was the 26th catch.
I guess I was lucky.
Just got mine from the Fish of the Day migration in Jade Forest (Enchanted Woods of the Lost) after roughly 260 casts. I was using
and I received the carp as a secondary to a
. Sadly, it is not a cageable pet so all of us collectors are in for the long haul =(
Just caught this little guy from a jade lungfish school in Jade Forrest.
Lungfish was not the fish of the day, it was just a regular pool.
Great battle pet vs the Pandaren Spirit Tamers. A high level 25 aqua pet like this can really make things easier and they have nice synergy with other aqua pets.
I appreciate a lot of the comments on here are of folk looting the fish then coming on here and 9/10 flexing they got on 1st 2nd 3rd cast etc
I like the other collectors have been after this and the others for some time.
I caught one in jade forest (fish of the day) fishing a
pool of glowing lungfish (saves moving around and you get bonus fish with charm and boss at some point for even more goodies.
literally before I cast I thought "i probably got the best chance of catching the green one here since i was catching green fish"
kinda made strange logic to me and on that cast it popped up :D
again like most was using Pandaren fishing charm, came after around 200 casts and popped up as an extra fish (was my second large pool after being here the week before and i didn't bother with the small ones) my avg fishing skill is 840 with all the stuff you can have. I personally feel its better to have as high a fishing as poss.....no excuses other than rng then.
GL fellow hunters :D
Sadly they are not tradeable... I wanted to either gift it or sell it, but it looks like that isn't going to happen.
As you all mentioned that you fished it in a school: I just fished mine in the Dojani river beeing on my
fishing in a school. So just fish your lungs out and eventually you'll get your new little companion :)
Fished up one while waiting for Galleon raid to fill up, by just fishing randomly from the river just below Galleon's spot, no pool or anything.
Just fished a tiny green carp in the Valley of the Four Winds near Ben (fishing trainer) with a skill of only 5 - did not use any items to push my fishing skill. I was fishing in the river - no pool or anything. Seems that fishing skill does not matter to get the pet. Happy fishing :)
Caught today on Grizzly Hills less than an hour after looting lucky pandaren charm (possibly extra fish catching). I was simply fishing in and around the daily fishing in Krasarang. The carp actually came from a pool. and after catching approx. 70 krasarangs. My first of the tiny carps.. really happy fisher woman knowing that it is possible :)
good luck all!
These can also be fished up in Townlong Steppes, I caught one in the pond north of Niuzao Temple.
Oh this is great... I fished up *thousands* of fish in Pandaria while working on Nat Pagle rep before it was made a lot easier. Even caught the super rare Turtle Mount in the process. And now these Carps come out after I finally finished with fishing in Pandaria... Yeah, don't think I have it in me to do all of that again :(
I just Caught mine, fishing level only 347. Krasarang Wilds in a Krasarang Paddlefish school. =)
Caught today during the Jade Lungfish - Fish of the Day Migration as well, as a secondary with the Pandaren Fishing Charm. Prior to that final cast I had about 208 Jade Lungfish, 4 Golden Carp (oops), and about 20 sealed crates of disappointment.
I caught this from an Emperor Salmon school in Townlong Steppes, in the lake just northwest of Niuzao Temple.
Based on statements I've read here, it seems this can be caught in either open water or from pools (of any kind) and can be caught at any skill level.
However, as somebody who probably fishes way too much in WoW, here's my take on it: this pet is probably only found on legitimate catches (i.e. no junk catches, which in Pandaria equates to a Golden Carp). Fishing in pools will yield a legitimate catch 100% of the time, while fishing in open waters has a chance of failure based upon your fishing skill in relation to the area in which you're fishing. So while it's technically possible to fish it up in open water with a Fishing skill of 1, it's ridiculously unlikely.
Your best bet to catch this is to use your Pandaren Fishing Charm (if you have one) and fish exclusively from pools. The PFC has a 20% chance of giving you an extra catch from a pool, so your chance of catching this pet is therefore increased by 20%. Your best shot at pools is to find out what the daily fishing area is from the guy standing by the river near Halfhill, and then fish until you're sick of fishing or until you catch your pet.
These are fished from inland open water in the Krasarang Wilds, Jade Forest or Valley of the Four Winds,
any Emperor Salmon, Jade Lungfish or Krasarang Paddlefish pool (including the Fish of the Day pools).
If you are fishing in open water, the greater your fishing skill (up to 700 for Krasarang/Valley of the Four Winds, 650 for Jade Forest) the greater are your chances of catching it.
can now be caged.
I thought you could only fish these from pools (? not sure why), so I spent many hours trying this. Then on an Anglers quest I fished one up from open water in the Dojani river- Krasarang. So don't just go for the pools, fish in open water as well. Fishing skill= 571+110
I rarely fish, but was on the way to the Jade Forest to complete some dailies and decided to fish a pool. I was using the standard pole (looks like a branch), about 150 fishing skill, and my fourth cast in got the tiny green carp (rare). Took all of four minutes - no buffs or anything.
I caught the Tiny Green Carp in the rare Krakkanon pool while using the Ancient Panderan Fishing Charm during Kasarang Paddlefish swarming. Then I caught another one in the very next pool of Kasarang Paddle Fish after catching the Krakkanon!
I wanted to give my input on this...
I've just fished up two of these in Krasarang, in the lake between the Sentinel Base Camp and Crane Wing Refuge.
(fishing skill 501) My first one was in the large pool of panicked paddlefish, waiting for
to spawn. I believe I had
Aquadynamic Fish Attractor
(may have missed it expire), with the
Pandaren Fishing Pole
equipped, and the
Ancient Pandaren Fishing Charm
(fishing skill 505) On my second catch a couple minutes after killing
, I still had the
Ancient Pandaren Fishing Charm
active while fishing in a smaller paddlefish pool, but as I went to learn it, turns out I still had my weapon equipped when I fished him up.
I hope this helps answer some questions for some people!
I've caught three of these in the last two days while fishing for Flying Tiger Gourami in the Dojani River in Krasarang Wilds. Standing in the river above the falls at 63.9, 29.0. Not sure if I'm being extremely lucky but the two I caught today were from successive casts. The prior posts say this is not tradeable but Blizzard must have changed this as I do have the ability to put this in a cage.
Got mine in Jade Forest/Temple of Jade Serpent. No pool, just from normal water. Skill 718 with all kinds of fishing pole, charm, enchant, etc. Actually, I was fishing for the Nat Pagle rare fish, I just caught this one. For second catch on that place :)
But before anybody is jealous; I spent tons of hours for the Nat Pagle fishes, for my turtle mount, for all rare fishes in the old game content. And I still have to fish up the other three colors.
To clarify the discussion about the Golden Carp dropping the pet, the guides don't say you can't get them with a Golden Carp- they say you can't get them with a Golden Carp that is the result of a failed cast.
The way that fishing works is that regardless of skill, you can fish anywhere. And regardless of skill, you do have a chance, even if it is a small one, of having a successful cast in any open body of water (pools require no skill, and are always successful, I believe). The recommended skill levels for each zone aren't the levels you have to have to catch the pet- they're the levels you have to have to never have a failed cast, and therefore have the best chance of catching the pet.
There are two loot tables for each body of water with fishing- one for a successful cast, and one for a failed cast. In pre-Pandaria bodies of water, the successful loot table has all of the normal fish for that area, and the occasional crate, potion, etc. The failed loot table has all that low-value grey garbage like sickly fish and bent hooks and such. However, in Pandaria, the failed loot table always rewards Golden Carp. The successful loot table rewards one of the normal zone fish, which can also include Golden Carp. So when you catch a golden carp, it is impossible to tell if it was a successful or a failed cast, and the pet would only have a chance to appear if it was a Golden Carp from the success loot table, and not the failed one.
So it is good advice that the best shot you have to catch them is to get your skill level to the point where you have no more failures, but that doesn't mean that you wouldn't still be getting Golden Carp- just that you wouldn't be getting any more with no chance at the pet. It also means that if you don't have the skill levels that people are recommending, you do still have the chance to pull up this pet- your odds just go way down.
There are definitely people who are getting this pet as the secondary on Golden Carp, but that doesn't mean it appears on failed casts. It means that RNG smiled on them on one of their successful casts, that happened to be a Golden Carp.
I caught this with Fishing 271 +20 from
for 291 fishing.
These can be caged and sold.
They are rare level battle pets.
He floats around in a bubble of water
I fished this little guy up today while working on The Anglers' daily quest, "Shocking!" fishing up eels in the Dojani River. I fished in multiple Emperor Salmon and Krasarang Paddlefish pools before deciding to simply fish along the river. Low and behold, this little guy popped up during one of my casts along with a Dojani Eel and an Emperor Salmon. I thought he might be a dud at first - he pops up in white text on the loot table - but when I checked my bag, I was pleased to discover he was a pet! Very cute, and fun to brag about catching.
I fished mine up right outside of Stormstout Brewery in Valley of the Four Winds. Took 16 casts.
I accidently used mine and I already had the blue one...can I get it back? lol
Caught him today, 44 casts, in Krasarang Paddlefish pools at Krasarang Falls. It's where the mass amount of pools were spawning this time. I don't know if I'm just lucky, or if it's because I used pools instead of open water. I ended up getting lazy and using the giant pool, waiting to cause Krakkanon to spawn, which is where I looted the Tiny Green Carp.
+30 Jeweled Fishing Pole
+150 Heat-Treated Spinning Lure
600 fishing skill
Total: 780 fishing skill
I'm not cool enough to have a hat, yet :(
Gave it to my boyfriend. Just got him into leveling pets :) Time to fish up another!
21 casts later with no lure, another Tiny Green Carp. yayayay
630 fishing skill
I'm seeing a lot of comments on all four Tiny Carp pages about people catching their carps from the Krakkanon pools, or at least the pools around that one. Though especially from the large pool that you fish Krakkanon from. I don't know if this can be confirmed for sure, but does it seem to be the case that the drop chance is higher from the Krakkanon pool each day?
Got mine while fishing in Townlong Steppes, at the Fields of Niuzao fishing in random pools. I only used
Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole
, no charm or anything. Fishing skill 600. I was pretty lucky with this tiny little guy, didnt take me long to drop it. But I guess my usual unluckyness is back, not really lucky with the other 3 carps =(
Dear players, don't be stupid like me and throw these away. They can be caged and sold for about 1500g on my realm.
I've thrown FOUR (4) of these away
(because I've caught 5 and figured I didn't need another if they were already rare-grade). I don't know the first thing about pets at all, so I've just tossed a potential
away... Learn from my mistakes...
EDIT: I should probably mention that they are sellable as is. You don't 'need' to cage them, but you can.
If you're going to sell them
make sure to check the prices for caged ones on the AH. Some people sell the fish at non-caged prices for a ridiculous amount, whilst others have 'learned' the summon spell for them, caged them, and then are selling them for much lower (or higher). In addition if you want to actually use the pet for battling, you may be able to find some that are level 25 for a very cheap price.
should i be fishing in open water or looking for pools
Just fished up a rare level green one in a large jade lungfish swarm just before Krakkanon popped up in Jade Forest. Wasn't even looking for it, but very happy with the silly little thing. This is one fish that won't end up in the AH.
I fished in schools along the path wowhead says it can be fished for Valley of the Four Winds between 110 and 130 times and got it. And this the same 24 hours I fished a White Tiny Carp after fishing
Got my Tiny Green Carp in less than 10 casts, came here too see how rare it was. Guess I was a lucky few. Fished in the Jade Forest for the Cloud serpent daily.
Upon using: (it is fished as a common item) When used it appeared in my inventory as a Rare battle pet. Not sure if that is 100% or not.
Fished up in Halfhill while gathering 60 golden carp for a bundle of groceries. I was fishing in open water, not a school.
Was out fishing today and the
dropped for me! Didn't even know there were knew pets that dropped from fishing so I was pretty happy :)
I fished one up in Karasang Wilds while fishing for Nat Pagle's rare fish. I didn't even know you can fish up a pet! Anyway, I got exalted with the Angles and saw it only once.
PS: I was using Ancient Pandaren Fishing Charm.
fished it up with a 160 fishingskill..
Fished one up today in
after only about fifteen or twenty casts. It was pure luck I landed on a day when I needed a lot of Paddlefish. I was pleasantly surprised to see it drop, but did it get into my bag? Nope, because I was too stuck in the routine of re-casting, not expecting anything, and lost it.
Auto-loot can go swivel.
Just fished one of those and shortly after that the blue one in an Emperor Salmon School at 34,53 Fields of Niuzao in Townlong Steppes while hunting for the red one!
I would say this little lake at Fields of Niuzao is the best place to farm the tiny carps , you can get 3/4 here (never caught the white one) and there are around 8 pools which have a low respawn time so you never need to fish in open water.
No special requirements. I just fished one up from the Dojani River, no school, no daily, just plain old fishing. Now, sell it or learn it, that's the question! :p
So that just happened. I went to the Krasarang Falls, fished up one of those little fellas and auto-looted expecting only the regular fish drop, so I clicked my fishing bind immediately after only collecting one item. It disappeared. It is gone. I am in despair. I feel void and cold. RiP Tiny Green Carp.
You can get this I think at any level. My F2P 20 level toon get this when I try to catch the Sea Turtle. I decided until I caught that in the meantime maybe fishing for pets also. And for level 20 it is very hard to find a good spot, actually nearly any fish of the day schools are just fine.
I don't think you need special gear (hat, boot, pole, or lure) to catch anything from a school just for fish to open water.
I started to fish at 4 am and I think I was extremely lucky because I've got my carp at 8:57 just 3 minutes before the schools disappear around Stormstout Brewery.
In the meantime I've catch 367 emperor salmon and many sealed boxes I'm not counting that but I think I was way over 400 catches.
So I think its a good strategy to always go and fish form the Fish of the Days school, u don't need to running and looking for schools.
Keep on fishing fellow anglers.
Just got this lil guy while fishing in Krasarang Wilds. Wasn't even expecting it...and wasn't fishing in a pool either. Just some standard water, at 65.48, 28.78.
