People tend to make a post when they get a rare drop very quickly, and less often when they get a rare drop after many hours farming (or not at all). I suggest you completely ignore any drop times posted by people in these forums, and stick to the drop rate percentages listed from the wowhead/thottbot/allakhazam wow addons.
As of 2.4, it now makes a sound when you click on it. Similar to the Dark Whelping
Personally I liked it w/out, but, oh well.
as a hunter, can i have this one and my pet simultaneous summoned, or one at a time ? thx
Just to regurgitate what's being said, I farmed for this little guy for about 2 hours. A friend of mine came and joined me to help cover some more ground and it dropped for him after about 25 kills. It never dropped from a mob that I killed. Then again we didn't keep trying:)
Farmed this for about 2 and a half weeks. Managed to get it today, kinda went a bit, erm, 'mental' and got told to calm down by my brother...
Instantly /g I got !
/waits 5 minutes...
Would have expected more, WOWW! OMGSZS GRTZ,, but no. change of Guild much? :) jk
So let's think about this... We have blue, green, red, and black whelpings, but where's the bronze one? Cmon Blizz when are there going to be bronze whelping so we can get a pet from them? But still the mystery remains unsolved and questioned, but as for now we'll just have to see and wait...
I just have to tell this story because its made of pure WIN.
I needed ONE pet to get my 50 pets achievement, and i set my eyes on this pet to make it to fifty. I grinded these mobs for about 5-6 hours one night before shutdown, and didnt get it. I noticed that the same person had 4-5 of these on AH in a week and checked his armory, sure enough, it was a lvl 60 dorf hunter with nothing but greenies equipped. He had them on AH for 600g and i refused to buy one simply because he is a gold farmer. Today i went back to Aszhara to grind for a bit and i found this same dorf hunter there, clearly behaving like a bot. I killed 4-5 mobs while i looked at him and i got more and more annoyed, so i tagged a mob just as he attacked it, he killed it for me....and guess what.....the whelpling dropped! :D
Got my achievement and two of the coolest pets in the game!
Made of WIN, i told you!
/hugs from Panthy and Whelpling and Stinker :D
im still farming this on/off : and i find it makes it easier to farm here for an hour, watch a movie, or put on some music. The less your focusing on the game, the faster time flys and the sooner your gona see that whelp drop ^_^
Video of pet:
Not sure of total killed. But I am making 20g per hour just on looted cash and vendors. Its a well set up spot. Being a skinner, I havent taken my Rugged/Thick leather to the AH either.
Highly profitable whether you get a pet or not :)
My history was kinda... lol ^^
I farmed and farmed and said to my self
"I'll quit 05:00 AM"
"I'm just going to kill three more"
"I'm just going to kill this camp"
"Ten more minutes" but still, no drop
Then I changed my mind and said to my self "Okay, I'll farm until I get one"
Guess what? It dropped like 2 mobs after that :D <3
So I'm pretty happy for founding it efter almost 4 hours of constantly farming ^^
Something interesting. Why is there Green, Red, Black and Blue Whelps. Yet no Bronze Whelp pet? Or better yet, wheres my Chromatic/Infinite Whelp!
Don't be discouraged with the insanely low drop rates. I was determined to get at least one. It took me about four hours each day, over 3-4 days of farming to get one. The only thing that made it bearable was talking to guildies and listening to music in the background with occasional breaks. It's amazing how refreshed one can be after walking around and doing something other than playing WoW for just a few minutes.
When that first one drop I was so elated. I stuck around for another hour or so and to my surprise, not one, but three more dropped. Patience is the key. I was able to buy my epic flying training and mount from selling them. ^_^
I've seen quite a few people come and go in the area but it's easy to share the mobs.
And for those who say it can't be done:
Proof if you don't believe me
The greens and blues were nice too since I was an enchanter at the time. I also got a
Six Demon Bag
from one of the chests in the area as well.
Just keep at it! :D
I'm not here to talk about how frelling long it's taking to get my drop... I'm here to tell you what I'm doing WHILE waiting for the drop:
* Killed the game sound and playing music
* Grabbed speedy/trash copies of weapons and leveling my weapon skills
* Pretending I'm not grinding for a pet, I'm grinding for the only slightly more frequently dropped Blue Dragonscales
* Researching things in wowhead while flailing away
In short, this IS a grind, but if you combine it with other things it'll be less mindnumbing :)
I'm using Bunny Hunter to track the number I've killed and the amount of time I've been farming them. After 3 days, 7 1/2 hours total, and 2,803 kills, I still don't have an Azure Whelpling. I'm beginning to wonder if they still drop off these mobs!
I finally got one on my 3,493rd kill! I spent a total 8 hours, 3 minutes over the last 4 days farming the mobs before one dropped.
As of patch 4.0.3a, the azure whelpling is now a zone-wide drop in Winterspring. The drop-rate is estimated to be the same as its previous drop rate, 1 in 1000.
Having a hard time with this pet?
You farm the mobs so fast they wont respawn for a while?
Then i may inform you of a way to increase your farming capabilities!
There's MORE mobs out there!
one single winterfall mob
in felwood, you know the lone dude in the northwestern camp who always looks kinda out of place? Turns out the poor chap, not too suprisingly, also drops the whelp.
So yeah... there you go, 4-6 min of running and you have +1 mob at your disposal!
No need to thank me, I know it's groundbreaking.
Now get back to farming (!)
For anyone who has not already done so, I highly recommend doing the Winterspring Quests achievement while you are farming, as it gets you an achievement and doesn't feel like farming for 58 quests.
Also, if you are done with winterspring quests, I recommend farming for the whelp in the Ice Thistle Hills in eastern Winterspring, there's around 40-50 yeti that are on a relatively fast respawn timer inside a cave.
This pet can drop from a
Satchel of Exotic Mysteries
Just trying to correct Glowyrm when he states that the drop rate is 1/1,000.
Two facts to disprove him:
Wowhead reset all its data after the Cataclysm launch.
Therefore, the drop rates you are seeing on the "Dropped by" tab are correct - certainly not 1 in 1000.
In addition, I decided to check the facts myself - with 5000 drops, at a 1 in 1000 chance per drop, the chance of NOT finding a pet after 5000 loots is
(Chance of pet not Dropping) ^ (Number of chances)
or (0.999) ^ (5000) = 0.006, which is less than a percent.
I'm not saying it's absolute, but with wowhead's (Cata-only) drop chances and my own personal experience, I have a hard time believing anyone who says that "warcraftpets told me" the drop chance is 1 in 1000.
Now drops from
in Wetlands. And from
can also drop from every singel mob in Wetlands.
So now when you farm
, you have a chance to get both.
Now drops from
Now drops from all mobs in Winterspring.
Good luck farming may the RNG gods be with you!
I'm going to condense some of the information spread out over several comments here. I went after this guy after spending days farming for the tiny crimson in the same spot for over 24 hours game time, in the same circle, with the same mobs, and the same sounds, and the same scenery, and the same everything. It got horrendously monotonous.
There is no
best spot to farm this. There's 4-5 good areas within Winterspring that I
recommend using all of to keep the scenery from becoming too boring.
Starting on the north side and winding around to the east, south, and back to the west is a good circuit. By the time you finish the loop, the first mobs have respawned. This is the best spot for nonstop farming.
Winterfall Village/Timbermaw Post
Finish your Timbermaw rep if you haven't already.
The giants and ice avatars are clustered close together and good for a single pass. Not a nonstop area, but worth a shot every so often to change it up. Miners can also find some thorium here (for extra cash) and can mine the giants for deeprock salt (for leatherworker's to make refined and then cured medium hides, which engineers can use for the Tranquil Mechanical Yeti for decent profit, depending on server)
Yetis to the Southeast of Everlook
The name of the cave eludes me at the moment, but if you kill everything outside and head inside, rest a few minutes for respawns and repeat, this can be an endless cycle. Respawns take a few minutes, however, but I hit this spot while doing homework. 5 or so minutes to clear about 50 yetis, work on homework while waiting for respawns, and repeat.
Use this as an opportunity to do the Winterspring Quests achievement as well as the E'ko Madness achievement.
Use this as an opportunity to get your Explore Winterspring achievement. Rather than flying around to open up the map, kill your way through it. This lets you REALLY explore the zone, as well as work on your pet.
Unless you are working on the achievements or just want your statistics page to update for each kill because you're OCD about that (like me), do this on a high level druid, hunter, shaman, or anything else with 30%+ augmented run speed/shapeshift. Even +15% beats running at 100 and/or casting your mount over and over between kills.
Above all, don't give up, but don't overdo it. Take a break, and be patient. This little guy is a 1/10,000 chance but the dice will eventually roll in your favor.
This thing is truly a nightmare. I've spent at least 9 hours farming and not a single one has dropped yet... I did get ganked once by some noob named "Deathwing" though, and couldn't respawn for a few minutes. Somehow, the lake was on fire, but still frozen.
Just got mine of the Winterspring Runner that is in Felpaw Village in Felwood!
I had actually been debating farming Deadwood Headdress Feathers vs. Winterspring Beads. I figured while farming in Winterspring there was a chance for the Azure Whelpling to drop. But I decided to farm Felwood because the chance for the Whelpling to drop was so low plus the Feathers have a better drop rate.
My first time through Felpaw village, killed the Winterspring Runner and low and behold it drops *lol*
Was doing the Winterspring quests and got two of these about 10 minutes apart. It made me think these were easy to get. Not so. I did all of the Winterspring quests for two other alts and haven't seen it again.
A great way to farm this would be to farm the Winterfall and the added bonus is you also get Timbermaw Hold Rep so while your farming the rep you still have a chance to not only just get this but also your extra rep so its a 2 in 1 bonus ^.^
I don't think world drops were meant to be grinded.
Just got mine from a Winterfall Shaman. Took about 4 hours & I killed every mofo in that zone 10x. Almost didn't see the little bugger in my bag.
Got it from a suffering highbourne after just 20 mins of farming :-D Just killed all the mobs in the lake over and over
So since there just isn't much to do in the game right now I decided to farm some rare companions, my first two were the captured firefly and the hyacinth Macaw, they each took a few days, around 5k mobs for the firefly, and 10k for the macaw. I figured I would come spend a few days in Winterspring and knock this one out next...... WRONG!
Its been just over three weeks, each day in my spare time,. Most days I average 1-2k kills, and occasionally I will smoke a bong, turn on some music, get in the zone and knock out 5-10k. This has turned into a battle! I have completed the Jade set, a couple glorious pieces, two epics, even an orb of deception from a chest, along with probably 50-60 blues, yet, the Azure Whelpling has proved to be quite elusive!
Well over 100k mobs, easily.
Does it even exist! site says 1/10,000
so, that puts me at 1000%, only time will tell.
after 3-4 weeks suffering with the grind of the elusive azure whelpling with over 125k kills in winterspring, I have finally captured one.
This pet dropped for me last night. I honestly was not sure if it was rare or not since this was my first time questing in Winterspring. I was at about 53/58 quests done for the zone, completing the quests at proper level and it dropped off a shardtooth bear. I know I spent about 6 levels in Winterspring and I am thinking I killed about 1000 creatures in the zone because if I see it, it must die :)
BTW, on my realm it is going for 10k...sold mine for 9500 within an hour of posting it! Hello Fast Flying!
random world drops are the heart and soul of the game... of pve.... i just got a rare drop and it made my day..... instant 15k gold... just doing a mundane thing... i love it. I made 60k gold within two months from the rarest drops in the game. but the best part? I had no intention farming these things.
I have been farming the lake in Winterspring for days now, about 4 for about 6 hours/day. I'm starting to think this drop is
. Someone tell Blizz to get their act together pls. :()
I know most people only post about how lucky they were but today I saw a chimera named Brumeran and seeing as he was a named npc I killed him just to see what would happen. When this dropped I had to ask my guildies about it and got a whole heap of abuse from one of the senior members as he had been for this farming for days... I am yet to auction it as I am unaware of how much it is worth on my server. Flashoffight - Dath'Remar. Advice would be appreciated.
>log into random old toon
>happens to be in winterspring
>kill 1 thing before i log out
For who wants to know a 'paremeter' to sell him on AH. Selled today for 15k at Nemesis-US.
Some things to do while you look for your companion: finish the Winterspring quests achievement, as well as the exploring Winterpring achievement. Killing the mobs for the achievements, which you KNOW you will get in x amount of time, makes it seem a lot less monotonous. Also, you can finish your Timebermaw Hold reputation. I would also suggest working on getting your Winterspring Frostsaber by doing the They Grow Up So Fast set of dailies. I finally got mine! It took me about 20 hours, dispersed over three days.
Edit: You should also listen to music (not the WoW background music!) to help prevent boredom.
dropped from ice thistle matriarch or yeti in winterspring east side in the cave.
was framing rugged leather there and then it dropped i was surprised din't know that whelping pets dropped from them.
i have found that the best place to farm for this critter is Mazthoril, (56, 64). there are elemental rifts in there with groups of mobs standing near them. Clearing the cave gets you close to 40 attempts and looting the azure whelping within 2-21/2 min. I'll keep you posted as to how many kills it takes me to loot him. Good luck! *kiss* c('.'c)
Well 8 hours and 8 treasure finding potions later ...no welpling and no oozling :( thanks winterspring its been fun but im out ill try to save and buy it on the ah at this point. :D Good luck to anyone else farming this companion.
18,186 kills later and no whelpling yet. Been alternating between killing the winterfall ursas/shamans and the yeti's. I wish Winterspring had a nice aoe spot with fast respawning mobs =(
Edit: 26,616 kills total (rarity 93%) I finally got one. Don't give up hope!
After 3 days of what seemed like never-ending grind, I finally got this adorable little guy. I just continued trekking my way around the lake, occasionally pausing to watch TV. So, I'm here to tell you that it
possible! Just don't stop believing!
Got the fellow in little over an hour. Def recommend lake kel'therill for the quick respawn rate.
Oh and keep strong with the countless hours of grinding everyone, the feeling you get when you stumble upon that little blue icon is priceless.
I am naming my Azure Whelpling '
' in Mists of Panderia.
WHY WON'T YOU LET US HELP HER, BLIZZ?
10,606 kills. I can still hear the spirits off that lake.. About their children, how it was her fault and not theirs because she told them to steal it, how they can still be saved if only they could find the crystal again, how tired they are (dude, I'm killing thousands of you, how do you think I feel?) and so on, and so forth.
But, I finally got it! Wrapped it up in blue ribboned wrapping paper and gave it to my best friend.
..Now to get her those three remaining raptors. ×_x
GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL, COMPÁNION!
I have to believe the widely reported drop rate is not 1/1000. I have been farming Winterspring for a few weeks now. I started killing and skinning to build up stocks of leather for MoP Monks, but gave up long ago - too slow. I'm on my hunter using Aspect of the Cheetah and right-click auto-shot to speed things up. I now just farm the undead making loops around frozen Lake Kel'Theril just SW of Everlook. I have detailed drop information from MOBinfo2 - here's what I have so far.
MOBS killed: approximately 9100
Coin value (approx): 387G
Repairs (approx): 27G (yes - the bow wears out even with just one shot/MOB)
Azure Whelplings: 0
At 1/1000 drop rate, 9100 kills would yield a 99.99% success probability which strongly suggest to me that it isn't 1/1000. At 1/10,000 the probability is a more realistic (yet frustrating) 59.3%. I tend to believe the latter.
I'm hoping it drops before MoP or I may never come back.
Does this pet still drop even? Because there is no "Dropped by" tab here. Thanks in advance!
If you have a skinner character use that to farm the pet. Go kill the yetis in Ice Thistle Hills to the east of Everlook and you will end up with a ton of thick and rugged leather.... Least this way you are making good gold even if they pet doesn't drop.
Well I have given up on this one for now, I have been at it for 13 hours (not counting the breaks for food, etc) and haven't had it drop yet so not sure how the percentages count in. I hear so much about people getting it on 2nd kill or within an hour or two but 13 hrs later I am very discouraged. All I know is that I am wore out and will probably not be trying for this rare pet again even though all I need for Littlest Pet Shop achieve is 15 rare pets. Hopefully I can think of something easier to get. :( If anyone has a tip that would help I might try again but for now WOW has defeated me in this.
I feel rather lucky to come across this pet. I was doing quests in winterspring and i killed... ice avatars i believe and the first one i killed dropped it. same kinda thing happened when i found my hyacinth macaw.
Ok so much misunderstanding about probability in this thread.
When you are predicting the future you can say something like "I have a 1/10,000 chance of this next kill dropping the Whelpling."
But what you cannot do is say "I've killed 9999 so far so for this next kill I have a 9999/10000 chance of getting the drop."
Probabilities don't care what you have done. For any single kill your odds would be 1/10000 it doesn't matter if you have killed 5,000,000,000, or 2.
Now the odds of killing 5,000,000,000 and not getting a drop are rare, but it doesn't change the fact that your 5,000,000,001st kill still has a 1/10000 drop rate.
It's like flipping a coin. Supposed you flip 8 heads in a row, what are the odds your 9th flip will be heads?
The answer is 50%. The coin doesn't care how many times you flipped it before.
But if you speak of the future and say "what are the the odds that I will flip heads 9 times in a row" then that is much less than 50%.
Got mine while rep grinding with Timbermaw, I killed a ton of the furbolgs, when npcscan picked up a rare spawn that spawned where i was grinding, so i killed it, and the Azure Whelpling dropped. The rare spawns name is Mezzir the Howler
Thought i would post my current success or lack of it would be more appropriate.
Have gotten: Dark Whelpling in 900-1100 kills
Tiny Emerald Whelpling in 1300 kills
Discusting oozzling in 83 bags
Hyacinth macaw in (4 days of solid farming, unsure on killrate)
So i thought i would try this as its 1 of the harder if not the hardest to find and now envy anyone who has said "just got it on a quest, whats it worth" as in hindsight of the last week solid i have spent farming this. i could of been doing alot more constructive things, but like the saying goes.. you have to put the hours in. so this is where i believe i am upto now;
Hours farming - 37-39 Hours with breaks
Mobs killed must be tipping 26,000 on the lower side
Rares (0.01-0.02% chance as i have checked every item) =
Epics (0.01) = 1
Azure Whelplings - Still 0.
This will be my 8'th night farming, and will give another 4 hours to it tomorrow.. seriously hoping to get this before MoP at this current farming rate i should of atleast seen 1 buy now but i just think i am very unlucky.
Will edit when i get it. if i ever do.
I am a grinder for stuff like this, but the other night I was leveling my monk high and this randomly dropped killing something and you can image my reaction....
Got one this weekend from a Misty Satchel of Exotic Mysteries
I told my gf beside me that " you will never get it! its like 0.02% chance" 1 hour later she get it......I hate her just a little......
Just got my Azure Whelpling! It only took me 6 kills! Must have hit it at just the right time! 8:40EST Arygos server.
I was killing Suffering & Anguished Highbornes.
Logged in, killed one mob, Azure Whelpling dropped, came here to check what I found.
I read "only spawns in winter" and went "Awesome! its winter!"
Then I remembered I live in the wrong hemisphere =(
I just got
which dropped of
I just looted 2 in literally about 15-20 min tops O_o. Just running around doing quests in zones I hadn't completed, for the achiev, wasn't trying to farm it. Picked one up from a Coldlurk Creeper, the second was either a Shardtooth Bear or Winterspring Owl, not sure as aoe loot looted from both at the same time.
Prior to that though I had been killing a lot of other mobs that drop it throughout the zone, guess I just got really lucky O_o.
I have been farming whole Winterspring for a day and got nothing, killed mostly mobs in Winterfall Village, don't know if it is the best place to get a drop... I got all other rare pets such as dark whelpling, and disgusting oozeling with solid grinding. Patience and some stuff (south park? futurama?) to watch on your second monitor is the best way to get these annoying pets :)
Hello guys, Aintnograves here from the Llane server. I would like to confirm that today I received Azure Whelpling from LFR via Satchel of Cosmic Mysteries. I have an addon that tracks rare items and it popped up and stated "Azure Whelpling obtained on first attempt". This is quite shocking considering it's drop % is so low.
I'm going crazy trying to find one of these, I've been trying all over Winterspring every time I've been on here for a month or so, I've lost count of how many hours I've spent and how many mobs I've killed. I'm stubborn though so I cant give up or buy one. All tips welcome, please help.
got it just by questing :)
Got one from a Looking for Dungeon Satchel
I *just* got one from a Coldlurk Creeper in Ban'thallow Barrow Dens.
Can someone please tell me the best way to farm for this? Because I have now done all the quests and been farming for it for about 3-4 days now and it still hasnt dropped. Like does anyone have a good way of farming or would my best bet be to just farm the people on the lake kethril (anguished highbournes, etc).
Finally got it last night from a betrayed ranger. So I would recommend sticking to the Lake Kethril farming if you are desperate for this pet. :)
I'm sure that this comment is probably unwelcome here.
But i was doing the winterspring cub quest and literally got an azure whelpling after killing about 5-10 mounts. I had no idea they were so rare until I just read this! I hate to toot my own horn; but I do love the little bugger, and if I could get one so easily by all means do not give up hope. If I would've known they were so rare though I honestly probably would sold him as I am always tight on gold it seems. Oh well...
Has the drop rate on this changed i have been farming for the azure whelpling for more then 10 days and killed countless mobs and nothing statistically i should have had one by now with the amount i killed anyone have advice
Cant believe how rare this is really, i've got it , and i was just doing my quest in the area and it dropped, didn't know how wanted this was and just thought it was cute - i've only been leveling there once and it dropped . lucky me i guess :D
Just a little math for anyone interested, as I've grown a little bored of farming and decided to take a break.
For those who are farming for the Azure Whelpling around Lake Kel'theril (which I'm sure is most of you), here are the numbers of each type of mob as well as the probability of the whelpling dropping from each type:
19 x Betrayed Ranger - 0.02% each
1 x Archmage Maenius - 0.01% each
4 x Wretched Spirit - 0.02% each
12 x Suffering Highborne - 0.01% each
8 x Anguished Highborne - 0.04% each
Notice that I did not include the Wretched Spectres. This is because, according to wowhead, they do not drop the whelpling.
(19 x 0.02) + 0.01 + (4 x 0.02) + (12 x 0.01) + (8 x 0.04) = 0.91% chance of the whelpling dropping every time you finish one circuit around the lake.
100 divided by 0.91 is 109.9.
Thus, the average person will need to do 109.9 circuits around the lake before seeing the Azure Whelpling. I hope this information isn't too demoralizing, and may the RNG Gods be in your favor!
Does it still drop? Is there a certain daytime where it drops? Been farming this in sessions of ~3-4 hours daily (around noon-afternoon), 16k mobs killed (far east and in mazthoril), no pet drop.
Though I've found
I got this little evasive fellow a while ago now, in winterspring this was before MOP It took me a good while, smiting wee beasties in the icy tundra, but none the less, i did eventually get him. I will tell anyone who wants this particular pet,, not to give up, it may take a while, it may take a short while..its just luck of the draw.
I need to go and grind for the emerald whelp next, as well as the crimson. I dont have them yet, I am almost at 400 unique pets achievement. Hoorahh
This dropped for me in Winterspring from a yeti in the Ice Thistle Hills while farming leather a few weeks ago.
I got this little fella for bread crumbs from the AH. According to the comments below, you're better off making gold for 10 hours and buying it than farming for it.
Except if you're planning of selling it, in which case you're still better off crafting essences.
On Dalaran EU, 1 Savage essence (2-3hours) = 1 Azure whelpling (30+hours)
I am farming rare dragon pets. Sprite Darter and this one is really hard to get. These pets have a 1/10K drop rate. Rarity addon says you are lucky if you drop it before 7K kills. I was very unlucky on Sprite Darter. It dropped after 25K+ but in New Talanaar it was not an issue. Azure Whelpling has no place such. And have to loot them one by one. My rarity count shows 4K mob loot right now and dont have it still. And now i can say that Azure Whelpling is the hardest pet to drop. Good hunting and
NEVER GIVE UP NEVER SURRENDER.
This just dropped off a Xorothian Imp I was farming for felcloth in Winterspring.
Mimiron's Head 1/13/16 - 5 attempts
Grand Black War Mammoth 1/23/16 - 1 attempt
Onyxian Drake 1/30/16 - 4 attempts
Raven Lord 2/07/16 - 6 attempts
Voidtalon of the Dark Star 2/10/16 - 1 week of farming
Azure Drake 2/?/16 - 8 attempts
Big Love Rocket 2/20/16 - 16 attempts
Swift Zulian Panther 2/24/16 - 2 attempts
Reins of the Drake of the South Wind 3/09/16 - 11 attempts
Blue Drake ? - 13 attempts
Armored Razzashi Raptor 31/3/16 - approx 15 attempts on several characters
Reins of the Drake of the North Wind 4/02/16 - 12 attempts
Azure Whelpling 4/15/16 - 36 attempts
I HATE you, Superior Mana Potion
I was farming Oozling Bags when one of these dropped from the Dimensional Ooze in Mazthoril in Winterspring. (52,67)
I'm not sure what the drop rate is for these mobs because I don't see them listed as dropping the Azure Whelpling on the loot table. Confirmed it does drop from them though.
I just got this guy a few weeks ago. I specifically hit Winterspring to pick him up. I started killing mobs around the the hidden grove and worked my way down to frostwisper gorge. My friend showed up when I was somewhere around where you pick up the owlbeast quest and by the time we were done in frostwisper gorge i had a whelp in my bag. I can't wait to level him!
AWWWWW He's/She's so cute ^^
I thought I would try to farm this tonight, was expecting it to take forever but I lucked out and got only after about 20 minutes.
Gave up after Number 3503. Got one epic staff (glowing-brightwood-staff) and one blue staff (Soulkeeper) that worth at least something and are not shown up in the lootables of these mobs. Would prefer to have the little dragon instead . Anyone can confirm this is still dropping?
Winterspring. Dropped for me from an owlbeast after about 50 kills in the area, Yeti's Owlbeasts & Furbolg's. 65.1-27.3. Not bad.
I farmed primarily the
for these. I leveled from 58 to 65 on these mobs which max out at 61. I found FIVE
by the time I finally found my little blue dragon. It took me 2.5 weeks and I seriously considered rage-quitting the game, but he's so cute!
Got this while doing my Winterspring mount quest. Said 87 attempts.
Does anyone know if Blizzard nerfed the Scalding Springsurge or the Boiling Springbubbles for having loot as it's a common area to run around in to farm this? I've recently been leveling an alt out here trying to get the Azure Whelpling for my collection and they don't drop anything anymore?
Not sure if a bug or a nerf - tried relogging and all that to see if it fixes but to no avail.
Got this today on my lvl 50 hordie hunter. Dropped from a Betrayed Ranger after 7310 attempts! But in reality the number of attempts is much higher, I remember farming the Disgusting Oozeling extensively in a previous patch, before I started using the rarity addon. I have also been leveling alts in the area on several occassions. Conclusion: it can be really hard to get, but it still drops! (I was actually wondering about that since the loot table for the mobs dropping the oozing bag apparently has been changed. I didn't get any bags even if I killed quite a few of those bubbles.)
