This is one of many pets being added for the Argent Tournament event in patch 3.1.

Here is a list of all of the pets available to Horde through this event:

Durotar Scorpion (Orc): 40 Champion's Seals
Mulgore Hatchling (Tauren): 40 Champion's Seals

Argent Gruntling: Complete the dailies to become a Champion of the Argent Tournament

Currently none of the pets are Bind on Pickup, meaning that an Alliance character could potentially purchase this pet off the neutral auction house! This should also make it much easier for any person wanting a full set of the pets to complete their collection through buying/selling/trading with other characters.

Well, for all hunters who have ever tamed Mazzranache rejoice! You get to have 2 pink plainstriders out at the same time (if your horde).

For all others, Mazzranache is a plainstrider in Mulgore, rare-spawn, and fun skin to tame. Nothing says LEET pet like getting owned by a big pink bird.

This companion counts toward the following achievements:

- Can I Keep Him? (10 Points)
- Plenty of Pets (10 Points)
- Plethora of Pets (10 Points)
- Shop Smart, Shop Pet...Smart (10 Points + Reward: Reeking Pet Carrier)
- Lil' Game Hunter (10 Points + Reward: Little Fawn's Salt Lick)

The companion pet collection achievements earn you a total of 50 achievement points, and two unique non-combat pets.

This is my favorite pet so far.

I like to sit on the statue near the Dalaran South bank and use this pet.

When he starts his "run off and have fun" thing, he'll keep running into the edges of the platform and not have enough room to finish the animation. He'll keep running and bouncing off the edges for a good ten minutes or so.

Mazzranache now has a small brood followin' it around it's path through Mulgore, the smallest of which is Spazzranache. This little strider walks at the back of the brood and seems to wander a bit... probably lookin' around himself wonderin' where his siblin' went.

This companion is worth a lot on the Horde Auction House, but on the Alliance Auction House it can be worth 2x more. I sell these for 3,000 - 5,000 on the Alliance Auction House but can't get anywere near this on the Horde Auction House, which is common with all faction related companions. I recomend that if ever consider a faction change, stock up on these faction specific companions and you can double your money in hardly any time at all. I hope this helps.

This is actually still a great way to make gold, if you're so inclined (and don't mind spending 20 minutes a day doing daily quests). Once you have access to every Argent Tournament daily quest, you are able to acquire 14 Champion's Seals per day.

This pet (along with the 4 other tradable pets) cost 40 seals, which is equivelant to 3 days worth of daily quests. As of February 2012, on most servers these pets sell for between 1000-2000 gold, which is certainly no drop off from what they were worth this time two years ago.

Completing all 9 Argent Tournament daily quests shouldn't take longer than 20-30 minutes to complete, and award 170 gold on their own (if you choose the Champion's Purse as the reward for the 4 of the quests). Combine that with 1500 gold from selling a pet, and you can calculate an average earning of about 670 gold per day. That amount of gold for completing a set of quests that won't take longer than half an hour? Not too shabby in my opinion!

Type: Critter Type of Abilities: 4 beast, 1 flying and 1 critter
Durotar Scorpion
Type: Beast Type of Abilities: 5 beast, 1 critter
Sen'jin Fetish
Type: Undead Type of Abilities: 2 undead, 2 magic, 1 dragonkin and 1 elemental
Tirisfal Batling
Type: Beast Type of Abilities: 3 flying, 2 beast and 1 undead
Enchanted Broom
Type: Magic Type of Abilities: 2 magic, 2 mechanical, 1 humanoid and 1 flying

All of the above are of Uncommon quality.

Shimmering Wyrmling
Type: Magic Abilities: 4 magic, 1 humanoid, 1 critter

Shimmering wyrmling is the only rare quality battle pet you can get from the tournament.

Was really surprised when I as an alliance saw someone in my LFR group get this from his gold bag after killing Durumu the Forgotten.

I got this thing from the first bag when I ran a raid as a healer, I got a bonus bag for the role and there he was. I didn't even know I could get it. But to be fair it isn't a good pet so don't bother getting it.
