After the recent patch, this now requires Riding skill (150), so my understanding is that unless you payed the 900g (720g with discounts) for training, you can't use it.
This mount is a very rare drop from Bloodlord Mandokir in Zul'Gurub.
Swift Razzashi Raptor are also the mount of the premade character from the PTR.
This used to be a great way to get a epic mount as it didn't require riding skills pre the 2.0 patch. but now it requires 150 riding skill so its not quite as much of a blessing as it was before.
Still a very cool mount.
Rare drop off the Broodlord's Raptor in ZG.
although many complain about the 150 riding skill required to ride it, the raptor and tiger(from zg also) mounts are the coolest looking mounts around. paying 720 gold to ride these things is no joke, but how many people per server actually h ave these?
The only way a tauren can ride a raptor.
Still makes me feel really bad inside that I didn't transfer a raptor over to my alliance druid and ride it with the latest patch. :((((
its 620 gold
My 150 riding is only 540g.....and im only Revered with stormwind city. And the 1st comment is 7 months old... they lowerd prices.
Ya the skill for 150 riding is only 540 gold. But I am guessing that this mount is easier to get then the tiger?
I would say this one is easier to farm than the tiger cause of the nature of the fights. As Alliance you would probably have more fun on this than the tiger you can grind rep with Darnassus to get ( yeh, another color but still a tiger ). As Horde you would probably want the tiger more from ZG.
I got this a few nights ago on my Draenei Shaman.
As far as the fight goes, the blood lord is easier to farm as it can be 2-3 manned. Where as the tiger boss needs about 4-5 to do @ 70.
yay finnaly a raptor mount that alli can use lol
got this yesterday on my warrior we killed him 5man without any problems. also done him 3 man with me (fury warr) as dps pala tank and a shadow priest as healer.
Very easy to two man. I am resto, full vengeful. The other druid is feral tier 4/5 tanking gear.
We stealth to him (my stealth level is NO problem) then buff up next to the wall with no packs and the troll urn.
He kills the troll to activate the event.
Kill the pet.
Then Bloodlord enrages, this is the hardest part of the fight and your healer should have a PvP trinket equiped as being cahrged, feared, hit, sweeping strike, can hurt a lot.
His "Threatening Gaze" isn't an issue and it's uncommon for the healer to pull agro.
Should take about 40 minutes including stealth running.
I have an extremely strong feeling that the rate at which people are getting this mount has increased since most runs can be done with 3-5 people. For instance, my guild 7-manned this boss yesterday and the mount dropped. I went with a group of 3 others today and the mount dropped again. So twice for the same guild in less than 24 hours... Perhaps Atlas is outdated or perhaps the drop rate on here doesn't take into account how many more people are acquiring the ZG mounts now that is it completely doable with 5 people at most.
I wonder is the boss from which the mount is droped is soloble from hunt?
I have good gear and can afford the t5 bonus- 15% from damage heal pet
If you wish a raptor similar to the Horde version, but you are alliance, this is the item to get. :D
Easily 2 manned this boss for close to a month every time the instance resets. As Druid/Warrior we just used the positioning exploit where the healer is on a ledge of the pyramid and I as the warrior 2h tank him at the bottom of the pyramid. You do not need to kill the raptor as he glitches out and evades because of positioning. To 2 man this boss (both I and my druid friend wear full vengeful gear) I reccomend keeping a 5 stack of sunder, thuderclap, and demoralizing. Overall an extremely easy fight as 2 man, we end at over 60% mana every time and are never in any risk of dying.
Wearing full dps gear on the warrior and full resto gear on the druid we down the boss in under 10 minutes every time.
Had 3 drops of the raptor in the 15 runs that I've done so far, so its deffinately worth farming this mount if you've got nothing else to do and your reset is up. Not yet seen any tigers though, despite having killed him 13 times.
First drop (June):
Second drop (June):
Third drop (August):
However, despite that, I'm sitll 509 runs down the road to getting the baron mount - All the luck is in the wrong instance.
This is the only raptor mount that can be gotten by allys right
Currently, all premade characters on the beta realm Murmur (with the exception of death knights) are created with this in their possession.
Edit: at least all horder pre-mades do.... not sure about Alliance.
Hehe came back from london a while ago logged in wow and read in LFG channel "LF member ZG raptor boss" then decided what the heck lets give it a try and it dropped and i had to roll against 9 members and actually won with a 91 roll xD
I'm going to guess you meant level 80 Blues, and considering that Zul'Gurub is a 20 man raid, and that a level 77 Hunter soloed Onyxia, (A 40 man raid) I'm going to say, yes, a level 80 Feral Druid could probably solo it, and a level 80 Hunter in blues and a few epics could almost definitely solo it.
I've heard that in order for the raptor to even have a chance of dropping the only way that it can be done is if you dont kill his pet raptor, can anyone confirm this?
Just a note in case someone missed it, obtaining this raptor awards with a Feat of Strength in the new Achievement mode.
is there anything i should know if im going to farm it? i would just go in there and kill it. should i let the raptor alive or is there anything i should know?
Farmed this little thing as a Tank/Heal Team, after 9 Kills we got it!
Solo'ed with a level 80 prot pally, very easy fight. I didn't have to fight one piece of trash on my way, and I used no methods of evasion outside of "don't get close" to the mobs.
Once at boss, I just killed the speaker and moved off to the left of the stairs (as you face them) and stood near the tree/stairs...
Burn him down, raptor died first because of my aoe, but that didn't affect me.
No mount though.
I have retry pala 80,and i was wondering if i can do this boss with my friend. He is resto sham. Can we do it ? :?
Just soloed by 80 BM hunter with some Naxx 10/25 Epics with Gorilla tank.
Easy fight, downed him for about 10 min.I used the tactic to evade the raptor and then just tank&spank the boss, using constanlty Mend pet.Having 2xt5 pieces is a +,but not a must
I'll be farming for the mount every 2 days and 14 hours now :)
EDIT: Just did as MM pvp specced- Fight goes a lot harder than BM,but still soloble.I did the same as above + 2xt5 pieces for t5 bonus(that's -500 AP for me but if pet doesn't survive,i am dead too),constanlty giving it MD,because it holds the aggro a lot harder now.
got mine 14.12.2008 yay happy day :P
Actually 2, I went on monday and then I returned today and he (and tiger boss) was there.
As a lvl 80 DK
First of all I would like to state: tanking gear is a must, tanking spec isn't.
Seriously, I tried it when I just turned 80, and maybe it had more to do with my skills at that moment then with my gear, but I found it much easier anyway with decent gear.
My gear isn't that awesome, consists of some selfcrafted epics (BS) and drops from naxx, but I have been doing this in my blue tanking gear that I got from BS aswell.
As for a spec - I am not going to give you any examples. Anyone should know that a DK can tank in any spec he wants, but I have been unholy specced since -forever- and always prefered this. Frost or Blood DK's can just continue reading, doesnt matter that much.
I myself find Blade Barrier / Imp. Icy touch / Toughness important, but then again, this differs from player to player depending on playstyle.
I did never use rune tap.
What spells do you use the most? Well, these bosses don't have THAT much HP (except ony, she is still a b*tch imo) so you don't need to do any fancy stuff.
Icy touch, Plague strike, (pestilence if any adds,) death strike are the most important. These will give you enough healthregen to last through the fight. Death and decay/Unholy blight are nice for some extra DPS on multiple targets, and when I have enough runic power I use my Gargoyle.
Bone Shield, Icebound Fortitude, Anti-Magic shell and any other trinkets you might have will help you through some of the difficult moments of a bossfight
I also tend to keep my Ghoul up, since being a Unholy DK will help the dps output of your ghoul, and next to the raw dps its just another panic button combined with Death Pact.
Since the fight is not a dps race, I tend to use these spells primarely, and all just works out fine. This whole thing you can adapt and play around with, depending again on your spec and playstyle, but nevertheless, the IT/PS/DS are the magic combo for your healthregen.
Thiss boss is a bit spicyer, and needs some caution to avoid bugs.
You don't need to clear anything, just run up to where the speaker is, kill this guy, then take mandokir up to the little tower.
1. Cast Bone Armor/Ghoul /Horn of Winter
2. Engage the speaker
3. take Mandokir up the tower use IT/PS/DS, use Pestilence, + Death and Decay and Unholy Blight for as long as the raptor is up. Focus on the raptor first.
4. The moment the raptor dies, Mandokir enrages. Save your CD's and trinkets for this. Use your ghoul as a panicbutton here, the rest of the fight he can just DPS mando
To avoid the boss to bug, you need to watch were you stand.
stand in the back of the area, in the center, and face the stairs. Mando will fear you from time to time and positioning this way will make you run down the stairs, not on to a ledge -> running up ledges makes him bug, wich keeps you in combat and he resets to 100% health.
I've soloed this guy without killing the raptor (80 Unholy DK, half naxx-epicced tank gear) very easily. Just tank both and kill him first.
After reading the comments though, I'll probably try killing the raptor first next time.
This mount finally dropped for me today! Now, for a couple of tips on the fight:
Watch it when he fears you, especially if you try soloing this. The Bloodlord may end up sending you right into a group of mobs that you did not clear, most likely leading to a death.
If you are grouped and die, wait a few seconds for a spirit near the wall to come over and resurrect you. This will save you some time getting back, and if you know your group is not going to wipe and needs your help, can really help.
As stated above, if Ohgan dies, the Bloodlord will enrage. However, it did not seem to increase the damage he did that much against my brother, so it might vary depending on what level you are (He is level 80).
I wonder what kind of rage old school raiders will get when they see some random DK balling this mount around Dalaran.
I have been killing this guy about 50% of all resets for 2 years and i got my raptor 6th of January 08 :) so u can bet that i am very happy ATM :p
Did this on lvl 80 with me as tank (rogue) and a holy Paladin healing me
went in there to try to solo it today (Prot Warrior). was a bit harder than i had anticipated, but he still died. kinda surprised when i saw the mount... wasn't expecting that on my first try, considering i have put in some decent time to get the deathcharger's reigns and have yet to see them.
Soloed as a 80 Holydin.
345 Resilience (If it matters)
(Some Hateful gear, Heroic rewards/gear & Crafts)
40/0/31 specced (Vengeance and some other funny talents in Retri-tree)
Just walked straight up to the top of the pyramide and started hitting him with JOW and Seal of Wisdom up. Mana wont be an issue BUT -
One thing i noticed is sunder armor stacking
times, I have about 20k armor, suddenly i have 17 stacks of sunders on me and during hes knockdowns, fears, Mortal strike and whirlwind's he managed to burst me insanely low.
UPDATE: Killed him again today, and i can confirm that he will stop doing Sunder Armor when his Raptor pet is dead.
That's because the raptor pet is the one who casts Sunder Armor.
Nymfo bonks himself in the noggin. Doh!
Anybody solo'd this as a druid yet? Any spec? I'd imagine feral, but still curious. I can solo the Tiger boss Thekal, and have been for the past few weeks, but Bloodlord hits harder and has what... a half a million hp? Would like to solo this guy too if possible.
5000 attack power in bear
A tip for fury warriors: Get Glyph of Bloodthirst and put on your shield and tanking gear and you can solo both Mandokir and Tiger boss extremely easy without having to respec.
Let's say you have around 30k HP with food buff and commanding shout - BT will heal you 3x600 HP per BT.
As hunter is not very difficult to kill him, set him on farm: blue-green hunter with 77lvl gorilla standart raid BM spec =) With tiger it's i think impossible to kill solo:now viper drains mana in persents + it's necesarry 2 tier 5. There is video how to solo raptor with hunter
Killed him three days ago with fury warrior/holy pala setup. Not hard at all, second time we had been there in two resets, the mount dropped, which I won, greatly pleased :)
Just killed him for the first time as a (well-geared survival) hunter today. The pet used was a gorilla. Took me a few tries to get the hang of it.
What I did was I put my pet on stay to the left side of the steps. Make it attack the boss and hit the boss's pet so it starts following you.
(You might find it useful to cast mend pet before you storm off so your pet doesn't go on low health).
When you have the raptor's aggro, run up the stairs. Once up, drop down to the platform on the left side of the stairs - the raptor should now become bugged.
If it does NOT stay up, but goes to where your pet is in stead -
do not panic! It should still evading
, as you're holding its aggro.
Nuke & cast mend pet. Be sure not to over-aggro, when he says he's "watching you", you need to be careful with the DPS.
Keep mend pet up at all times and you should be fine!
this is a great mount for alliance :) one of the only horde-model mounts possible for us to get, as of my knowledge there's this and barons deathcharger.
Dropped for me 5/2-09.
Was only my second time in ZG, talk about luck!
Blizzard is making it harder for hunters to solo this guy but after a few months of running it every lockout I finally picked up this mount. I'm pretty psyched since you don't see many draenei with it
For what it's worth, I definately found Mandokir harder to solo as an 80 DK than the tiger boss, if you are choosing to do one or the other. While Mandokir isn't at all impossible, actually far from it, some unlucky things can happen, or atleast they happened to me. It seemed like I would always get feared and then MS'd almost immediately after fear had broken. Either of those abilities alone were nothing to deal with (let the fear run out, Death Strike back to full, or let the MS wear off, Death strike back to full) but if he gets in some lucky hits while you are feared (something I saw hit me for like 4k or 5k, don't recall what it was, but it hurt even with 540 def in Frost Presence), and then MS's directly after, you can lose a rather sizable chunk of HP and have a hard time getting it back up. Just an experience that I had.
Tip for Prot Warriors soloing him: Kill the raptor first. Ignore the gaze. I found it easier to burst down the raptor asap by using a weapon with higher maxdamage. Change to your avoidance-weapon after you kill it.
Friend (DK) and myself (shaman) went and did a few bosses in ZG for powerful mojos so he could level JC. After we killed raptor boss we non-nonchalantly looted Bloodlord and both of our jaws dropped in disbelief when we saw this beauty. So he agreed to pass because we previously agreed if we ever farmed the mounts, he'd get tiger and I'd get raptor. So we head over to tiger boss, and kill him without a hitch, and we both laugh in amazement as we loot him and see the tiger.
I don't think it gets any luckier than that. I guess all I can say is just kill the bosses w/ a friend, or solo if you can. We both have only killed the 2 bosses 2 or 3 times, so you never know when you'll see it.
Sorry about low gamma, but here's SS.
Solo'd as a level 80 Unholy DPS Death Knight. I recommend you bring defense gear for this -Other DKs may want to consider switching to the Stoneskin Rune while farming- even if you aren't tank specced. Doesn't have to be anything grand, Northrend rep rewards will do fine.
Contrary to some of the other comments, I actually found that it's easier to kill the raptor. This causes the boss to enrage, but it also gets rid of the Sunder Armor debuff, and a level 80 can survive the duration if they know what they're doing. For me, it was just a matter of keeping my HP up with Death Strike and using Icebound Fortitude and Death Pact at the right times. If you survive the enrage, the fight is simple -With his raptor's damage gone and debuffs no longer reducing your armor, he's easy to beat.
It is interesting to note that Chains of Ice has no effect on this boss (barring certain Frost talent effects), despite being castable on him. Not sure if other CCs work the same or not.
Preface: I'm Draenei, which means I have access to roughly a 4K self-heal during this fight, which I get to use twice.
Yes, this is obviously a huge advantage, but I'm sure some of you are also Herbalists for your own self-heal, and I'm also sure some of you have superior gear to mine. If you're none of these (Draenei, an herbalist or have Naxx 25+ gear) then you're going to have an awfully tough time soloing this as a Warrior.
I'm a prot Warrior w/Naxx10 + heroic gear, using 15/5/51 (Deep Wounds/Impale).
I solo all of ZG every reset for the rep, the mounts and the poly turtle book. Bloodlord is one of the tougher fights, but I have a system worked out where I've killed him several resets in a row now without me dying:
1) I use the crafted 1H Titansteel mace for additional DPS.
2) For trinkets I wear
for a good mix of DPS and mitigation (which is actually avoidance on this boss, because if you block his attack, you're likely blocking 100% of the damage). I also wear
Essence of Gossamer
for a health boost and the proc is very helpful for soloing old content like ZG.
: Food buff, Runic Healing Potion, Battle + Guardian elixir, a scroll (if I have one on me), Greater Rune of Warding and Greater Ward of Shielding. The latter of which is
helpful as it increases your effective health by 4000.
: 1-shot the mob at the bottom of his temple, then run up to the middle of the stairs. I like to fight him on the stairs so you don't run all over the ground below when he Fears you.
I do not kill the Raptor first, and I have never tried. So I don't know which way is better as far as that's concerned.
I keep Battle Shout up at all times, with the exception being that I switch over to Commanding Shout before using Last Stand and/or Enraged Regeneration to maximize their effectiveness.
I like to pop Shield Wall right at the start, to ensure that I get to use it once more near the end of the fight. I prioritize keeping the standard debuffs up (Thunderclap and Demo Shout and a stack of Sunders). Obviously use Shield Slam every cooldown to maximize your DPS, but also make sure you use your Heroic Throw and Shockwave as well.
I use Enraged Regeneration as soon as I hit the 70-75% health mark. In my battles with Bloodlord, I always get to use this again late in the fight (in conjunction with Last Stand).
MAKE SURE NOT
to use a health pot, or your regeneration when his
is active on you. This can easily be an auto-loss for the fight if you're careless about this.
I use the brute force tactic on this guy. I don't stop DPS during his "I'm watching you!" crap nor do I back out of Whirlwinds. Just hammer some DPS into him at all times.
When you get Feared, berserker rage out of it and re-face the boss ASAP. If you're too slow about this, he will hit you for some good damage when your back is turned to him. This is important!
Depending on several factors (RNG/crits, how many hits I take while feared, etc.), I can beat this guy with as little as 2k health left or as much as 15k health left (after double Shield Wall, Enraged Regeneration and Gift of the Naaru). Good luck to you all!
This boss is a ridiculously easy solo as a Naxx-10 and Naxx-25 geared feral druid. Tank the boss on top of his pyramid, use your cooldowns wisely and jump off the pyramid to heal when you get to 40% and don't have a cooldown on hand. If he ports you back, jump off again... you have to get a good bit of clearance from the pyramid to prevent the teleport. Be sure to jump down with enough health to survive the landing though! I've been solo clearing him and Theckal every reset for a few weeks now, got the tiger mount but still working on this guy.
For you warrior's out there wanting a shiny new raptor-mount, here's how to do accomplish that the easiest:
1: Grab some tanking gear.
2: Spec for Bloodthirst (a variation between fury/prot appears to work the best)
Basically, you just spam bloodthirst every single CD, popping cd's during enrage and what not.
Also, if your gear is dire, reglyph and use
With that glyph you should be healing for silly amounts, when i used it, i healed roughly 664 per attack with the bloodthirst buff up. Basically unkillable.
Very easy to 2man. Myself (80 Rogue Combat/Swords naxx gear) and a friend (80 Resto Druid quest/instance blues). Pop CDs whenever you can, take out Raptor first. Healer needs to stand on one of the ledges on the side of the pyramid to avoid being charged. When he gazes hit escape and don't do anything. Unlike most mobs, he stays put when he whirlwinds so its very easy to avoid. No drop yet for me :( Good luck for the rest of you.
I have a story to tell, I'll keep it short.
I've been doing Zul'gurub since it was released.
, ever, seen the mount drop. I've done over a couple hundred runs total, in 20 man raid, and in a group of 2, and have
seen it on my main.
I was going to duo it again today but my partner decided to do UP instead. I said Ok! Have fun! I think I'm going to try to solo Raptor Boss on my Death Knight!
So I get there and pull and all is going well and I'm thinking, this is great, I'm soloing him! And the person holding my raid for me is like, I bet the mount drops! I'm like naaaa it
Well I kill him and I loot him and low and behold there it was. I was speechless. First time I've done Zul'gurub on my Death Knight and I get it on her first solo kill. What are the odds of that? 1 in 100?
Anyways. To the farmers out there, don't give up! Persistence pays off, you will get it when you least expect it.
Also, my Death Knight is Frost tank speced with about 30k hp unbuffed. If I ever got low on health I'd pop raise undead and sacrifice it.
This mount is so cool! I just absolutely love it. Especially for Alliance side, you're sure to stand out mounting around on
this bad boy. Drop rate was not half bad for me, got it on my 7th try, on my shadowpriest.
Note: Shadowform makes this look 10 times cooler. ^ ^
I've soloed mandokir couple of times now, as unholy Death knight, dps spec ("standard" 17/0/54 spec) with dps gear equipped, and in frost presence.
(4300 ap self buffed in random naxx epix)
i recommend bringing a pot just in case, ofc!
kill off his raptor first.
he'll do slightly more dmg, but nothing thats a problem. use icebound forittude if needed. i dont use bone shield during the fight, coz i'd rather use my unholy rune for death strike.
else its simple just a matter of keeping diseases up and spamming death strike.. (dont forget your ghoul as extra dps. and the gargoyle)
(i have the glyph of death strike. makes it deal 50% more dmg and thus heal me more - useful for these sorta things)
Solo'd as a level 80 Prot Paladin, I used Seal of Wisdom, Judgement of Wisdom, Blessing of Wisdom (gives more mana than BoSanc in this fight)
I simply cleared the area behind the temple, and the few adds nearby. I pulled the boss to behind the temple, nuked the Raptor fast, and slowly DPS'ed the boss, took around 15 minutes to do it, and just kept mana high and healed now and then. If you need to heal, start healing right after he have feared you, also make sure that Mortal Strike is not on you when you heal yourself.
I mostly only used Shield of the Righteous because the low mana cost and high DPS output, and kept judgement up for damage and to keep mana.
Easily soloable by a level 80 Affliction Warlock in 25 Naxx and t7.5 Gear.
VW Tank obviously.
Only reason this takes so long is because you need to watch your threat, since VW gains like 1% Threat per attack. If you gain aggro the boss will wipe you out shortly.
I'll say this,
it's all about the placement.
Resto Druid Solo Strat:
I had about 22k hp buffed. I went in full pvp gear except for 1 trinket and 1 ring for mana regen.
Saving grace for when you eat a fear without hots up.
Fight him up top on the platform. I took out the pet and the fight was trivial after that. HOT yourself up good and go bear to dps down the pet. Come back up to start healing before regrowth wears off. When I had too many sunder armors stack I would jump down and kite the pet until they wore off. Sometimes I would get teleported back up and so I would just have to jump down again. Most of my dmg that fight was from thorns so try and put on as much spell power as you can while you buff and then switch to your normal gear. Make sure you use barkskin and try to use chain clear casting procs from melee in tree to stay out of the 5 second rule if mana becomes an issue.
Long solo (30 minutes) but worth it because the mount dropped the first time and I didn't have to roll.
Had something new happen with this yesterday.....When I atacked the boss, he went to my pet along with his mount, another mount cames towards me. So i had to fight him and 2 mounts lol. It still didnt drop.
Easily soloable as a Holy Paladin. All I do is run past everything, kill the big hulking mob in the hallway leading to the blooddrinkers, run through the room, kill the speaker and pull the boss all the way to the hallway where the hulking mob was. Raptor has less then 100k health, easy to down before he stacks sunder too high, then kill the bloodlord.
2 runs in, no mount. 20 minute clear from beginning to end.
I see a lots of "soloed"... but can you tell your gear (green,blues,epic...?) and spec please?
As a blood specced tank in Naxx25 gear, it's faceroll time with a kill in a leisurely seven minutes. It's interesting to see that some patrols spawn at semi-random spots on their paths whereas others always spawn in the same place.
Level 80 Prot pally:
I've done with with killing the raptor first and just letting him die on the vine. The latter works best.
Call me naxx25 geared.
Buffs: JoL, SoV, Bosanct, ret or devo aura. I just use ret for that incy wincy little bit extra damage.
Getting to him: Proceed in and to the right, zip to the right a little off the path to go around the trees but not too far right you aggro mobs, rejoin the path, zip along the bridge and keep following the path to the boss dodging patrols etc.
Seems 50/50 if I can get past the 4 guards to his area, if I do aggro them I simply keep riding in a little bit and go right where there's a column sticking out of the wall that you can put your back against and deal with the 4 mobs.
Position: Kill the little guy at the bottom, then run all the way up to the far end of the platform and wait for the boss to come to you. After every fear return to this position. You will not need to clear any trash at the bottom before you begin as you will never be feared even halfway down the ramp.
Pop divine plea.
Priority: HS > JoL> everything else. Don't use consecrate to keep mana reasonable.
Focus on the boss, the raptor will die at around 40%, I don't kill him first for two reasons, he provides additional mana from BoSanct, given also you're probably full blocking the raptor anyway this lets you put out more DPS on the boss. The sunder armor is insignificant and I even noticed it falling off due to avoiding reapplications.
More details on your rotation, lesser geared tankadins may wish to insert sacred shield in to their rotation and use SoL and at very low gear levels keep your mana very high with a reduced rotation so you can bubble and heal to full, just click off Divine Plea before you start casting heals. Even at low gear I would advise ignoring the raptor.
Hammer of Wrath is good DPM, use it.
A tankadin friend of mine with just a few cheap craftables and no heroic gear is able to solo him in around 8 minutes.
So far my best time is 6 minutes 29 seconds.
For extra fun go kill the panther boss, head back to the main circular path around the lake, go right along past the tiger and you'll come to a stone wall with a building, and even panthers outside! Go the steps, jump down LEFT off the first ramp, head down. Ring the Gong. Spam Consecrate, Hotr then everything else. JoL alone is enough to keep me at 100% HP even when I don't bother cleansing the DoT. Re-target boss every time they come back and apply JoL. Lesser geared use SoL.
I always like how people KEEP posting stuff like jsut solo on my DK or pally well duh we know they can solo it already maybe if you go and do it on like a mage then we will be like ooo wow really. We don't need to knew every DK that is soloing it.
Quite easy to solo Bloodlord as a Retadin, mediocre heroic/Naxx-10 gear. Keep Seal of Light on, Devo aura if your first couple of times doing it (ret if you want it to go a miniscule bit faster), and Kings if your health isn't all that great, otherwise Might. Don't even bother with the raptors around, kill the starting add and run up the stairs towards the platform as Bloodlord rides down toward the ground. He'll dismount, start dps'ing the raptor down. He'll charge you after his Threatening Gaze is over, but the damage before his enrage is mediocre, cast a preemptive FOL or HL if you think your health will drop (the charge doesn't interrupt casts). After the raptor is down, the next phase is mere survivability for about one minute while you wait for his enrage to wear off. Keep Judgement of Light on him and try to keep your health about 70 percentish, given that his charge can crit you for 5k+ which can catch you unaware. Use your Art of Wars for a instant FOL if needed, and continue casting preemptive Holy Light's a second or two before his Threatening Gaze ends. After his enrage is over, the damage becomes near harmless with all your attacks healing you (healwind, lawl). Dps him down and hope for a raptor drop. Good luck! =]
Soloing as a prot pally was very easy. Keep up seal of wisdom, judgement of light, divine plea and ret aura. Using those 4 abilities you should rarely see your health or mana drop as long as you don't spam your abilities, It will take a while but it's a solid method. Another strat thats quicker but requires more active playing is switching judgement of light for judgement of wisdom and spamming some more dps abilities, when you get low on health put up concentration aura and heal to full. I like to tank him in the corner to the left of the pyramid because you will rarely be feared out of it. I also used Blessing of Sanctuary which helped with keeping my mana up. This guy is an easy solo in ulduar 25 gear.
I think this mount is the coolest land mount :)
It's even more ridiculous now with some Ulduar/TOC gear. You don't even have to jump down off the platform to heal. I can sit there and attack at will, even through his Gaze and still end the fight at full health.
Currently there are four horde mounts obtinable by aliance players-
(correct me if iam wrong)
Easy boss to solo as a Prot Pally, only difficulty was that i found that if you didnt kill the 2 groups of people, and get "knocked" back into them, it can cause a wipe. Also now with the added pets dropping from the raptors nearby, this is a must-have farm for collectors.
Oh and as far as getting the mount goes, i got mine on my 2nd try :P
Of all the raptor hatchlings, Ravasaur Hatchling,
, is the most similiar to the mount. I stuck the pet infront of my mount macro. :)
And to thank the RNG gods, I saw this drop on my first ZG run (group of 4, lost roll)...and again on my 3rd solo attempt. :) No luck with any other instance drop mounts, but I'll settle for this one. :) ...still soloing hte boss btw, he drops the helm enchant token which is 275 rep when you turn it in (so really he's about 500 rep per kill), which is great imo as the voodoo dolls cost around 5-8g on my server (buying these is way easier than farming imo due to the random class drops out of the piles). waaayyy cheaper than bijous and much more rep.
Glyph of Maul... first time i've ever disliked having it. >.>
stayed alive pretty easy as an 80 druid tank (sure, 5k gear score, but i used a few barkskins and a couple FR+SI simply because it helped keep hp up for how long the fight went, and no, spamming maul with the raptor behind you isn't going to help, take damage too fast since you aren't using 40% dodge to your advantage anymore... >.>
I'd just like to comment that at 80 this boss is very soloable. However me a friend and a healer downed this boss with absolutely no issues. To our surprise it dropped first run.
There's no spam of chat saying "OMG OMG OMG" cause we were all in vent.
I just kited him into the corner, and just had my back to the wall. Enrage wasn't an issue at all to the point that I didn't even realize he enraged. We downed the raptor first for the record.
We lovez raptorz,mon.=)
As a prot paladin in fairly good gear (40k HP Unbuffed) this boss is probably one of the easiest out there. As long as you keep your Judgement of Light on the main guy, youll never take more damage than you can heal. If you do see your health going down a bit, pop sacred shield or altenatively switch to seal of light too.
Nice easy farm, shame though, ive just had my 2nd mount drop off this guy, not sure what to do with it. WTT with alt :D
I think we all know by now that DKs, pallies, warriors and druids can solo lots of raid bosses and stuff, but what about the other classes? Is it possible to do it as a spriest?
80 Shadow Priest here. I started soloing him every reset now in the past couple days and use the same tactic with great success. I run in past all mobs taking care to kill the large pat that sometimes wanders into his room at bad times >.>
Clear all mobs the raptor pulls being the annoying ones as if u fear u can aggro the charging champion packs and you'll be forced to GY rez( i use shadowmeld if bad things happen :) ) the packs you just dot up and clear around the temple b/c this is part of the priestly strategy. Note: Keep your disease cleansing running at all times the debuff is nasty deals some damage but more importantly stacks a physical damage debuff that can shred you when innerfire/bubble are down. use dispersion if need be till weakened soul has faded.
Now that you've cleared all the packs around the temple you rebuff(ESPECIALLY INNER FIRE and Vampiric Embrace) i cannot stress this enough keep inner fire up at all times. Also Fear ward i place it about 1.5 - 2 minutes before i make my pull so i can use it several times during the fight.
Kill the minion at the bottom, boss comes down. Drop your shadowfiend or something like brewmaiden trinket anything to gain initial boss aggro and dot them both. Kite the raptor to the top of the temple and unleash DPS SWP DP VT MB MF rotation on the raptor you'll probably have him down to 50% at this point and your summoned diversion will despawn or die around this point. important jump down and use levitate or you will take 4kish damage per jump and make sure to jump far away from the temple or you get teleported back up to him.
From this point on you do 1 thing, run around the temple dotting the boss and the raptor until the raptor dies. When the bloodlord enrages you will either be far enough away or near him. you'll get charged but remember you have fearward! just drop shadowform ProM+renew and re bubble while he spins in place for whirlwind. i usually take the opportunity to recast VT but only if his gaze is not on me. if it's not i reapply both SW:P and DP and continue kiting up the stairs and over the side repeating until he is dead.
Things i've noticed. he charges quite frequently and i usually just re apply PW:S at this point and continue reapplying dots. if he fears and is spinning VT>MB for mana regen. pop your fiend everytime the cooldown is up for added DPS and mana regen is a bonus. Save dispersion for times when you have weakened soul and managed to take significant damage. I usually renew after jumping down off the temple and add a PoM then return to shadowform and redot. It's pretty simple once you get it down
-Starshards, 80 Nelf S.priest
Gear(mostly furious main armor for the set bonus on weakened soul effect minus 2 seconds) and then ICC 5 man offset pieces with haste and spellpower.
As a Rogue and a Holy Pally duo farming this boss and the Tiger boss at level 80 it is very easy. We are both in 232-264 Item level gear and it's very simple. The bosses don't hit very hard considering our HP, the Mobs in the instance don't even aggro us unless we run right through them.
We clear the packs right next to the bottom of the stairs, kill the troll to bring the boss down, and then I (Rogue) grab the boss. The Pally healer has no problems with the Raptor. He doesn't do much damage at all. We basically just tank and spank them.
For the Tiger boss, the Pally uses Arcane Torrent and HoJ on the Healer, and I use Kick and Arcane Torrents to stop most if not all the heals. Then I just tab target, hit a few times, only using energy on Fan of Knives. This keeps them close to the same percentage. If we miss interrupting a heal the Pally Holy Shocks the recipient of the heal and I just focus a little more on that target. 2nd stage is super easy, I just go all out DPS and the Pally keeps me up, it's really really easy. So, any duo can do this with some heals, without even needing a tanking class or spec.
You can't get the cool mounts if you don't try! It takes us maybe 15-20 minutes each reset for both bosses. The epics they drop end up making us a few gold too. Have fun!
Soloed Bloodlord finally as a rogue. Went in as combat 0/50/21 althought you could probably do it without prep. I also have the human racial "every man for himself" and engineering. Glyphs used were evasion, sinister strike and cloak of shadows although I forgot to make use of this one :P
It takes 20 mins+ of clearing trash before starting - from the entrance head left and over the water, then clear all the trash around the central area from there round to Bloodlords room.
At the start I hit evasion, ghostly strike, AR, BF and engineering glove enchant and focused on the raptor. He dies within 10-15 seconds in my t9/t10 gear. Then I use my rocket boots and get away from him as quickly as possibly followed up by sprint. I usually get enough ground on him that he cant charge me and he will still stop to whirlwind every so often allowing you to get further away.
Keep going along the path you cleared earlier until rocket boots and your other cds are ready, then stop and bandage. When he reaches you pop evasion/ghostly strike and nuke again. He will fear at times so the human racial or pvp trinket is essential - make a run for it after popping it.
You need to repeat this 3-4 times for the kill, gets boring but very satisfiying to finally be able to kill him solo as a rogue :D
Here's a link to my crappy attempt at a video for this...
So easy with a warlock affliction with pvp talents and 251/264 pve gear. My demon must attack the raptor, and i just attack the boss. I'm healing more than the boss downs me, and if i see my life too low just use one of the warlock's cd (howl of horror, Healthstone, drain life, Voidwalker sacrifice...)
You only must take care the voidwalker dont die, but its easy if u got the demon talent that heals ur demon when u do damage -fel sinergy-). I have done with pvp talents, but u could do a more efective tree doing less damage, but really having ur voidwalker tank :P
P.d.: really got easyer if u put in your equipment the trinket from onixia that heals 550x5s or so similar.
Interestingly, this mount does not have the same color pattern the raptor Mandokir is riding before you fight him.
In exchange for this, however, he will do a soft enrage when his raptor dies. Just a bit more damage, less time between attacks, etc.
Got mine the other day :D
I used to do this in tank spec just for the shear mitigation. I tried it once (wrecklessly might I add) in my Frost DK DPS spec. it was ridiculously quicker and easier, and the shear fact of having blood presence outhealed the incoming damage. I used death pact once at about 30% that overhealed for about 2k. On my way out I killed the other bosses just for the extra gold.
Easily faceroll-able by an ICC geared Ele shaman :) just take him straight on, pop some CDs, nuke, and heal yourself now and then.
Actually, due to the nature of the raid ID's, you can do this even easier. Of course that method works too, but this is what I do:
1) Invite someone (anyone) to a group with you. You might want to ask him/her first before inviting if you don't know him/her.
2) Convert it to a raid.
3) Go inside the raid.
4) Kick the other person. Because you are the owner of the raid ID (you're the leader), you don't get kicked and may freely solo the place.
- Faster, as you don't have to log onto an alt and back to get it working
- (dunno if this really is a good thing :S) you're not in a raid group
- If you leave the instance in another way than as a ghost, you need to repeat the steps again to gain entrance.
so tbh I'm answering to zw4512's question:
Can you kick them out of the raid group once you are inside?
Yes, you can.
I imagine this is quite easily soloable by virtually any level 80 hunter, better gear will only make the fight shorter. Do as others have said -- Misdirect boss to your pet a bit to the right of the stairs where they both have a LOS to the platform, run up the stairs, drop onto the platform below and fire away. FD to reduce threat periodically. This way the boss cannot charge you, and it's just tank n spank without that. Use Viper when you're OOM and mend pet to keep it up (tenacity goes w/o saying).
Good luck! I haven't seen the raptor and don't expect to soon, but I do know the fight is cake for any 80 hunter.
Cataclysm's release will make this mount impossible to get - along with the
other ZG mount
- due to Zul'Gurub being removed as a raid instance. Get your farming hats on!
This mount is going bye bye with the next expansion so this will be your last months to get your raptor and the tiger.
Rogues can now
solo this boss and the Tiger boss in 4.0.1.
edited for the comment below v
No longer available in patch 4.0.3
Not everyone feigns self-pity and guilt to their luck, so generalization does not compute. I for one have bouth mounts from ZG (had to run it four times though :( lot of work cuz tiger you need to exploit to get to phase2 .... but liek they say hard work pays of in the end) and I don't have self-pity. I think it's great that I have them.
You had to exploit to get to phase two? Still wearing BC epics? Just about all classes, if not all officially, could solo tiger right up to the Shattering.
With Zul Gurub removed, this mount is no longer obtainable.
Blizzard have just announced that the Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman instances will be making a return in 4.1. For people wondering, the raptor, tiger and bear will be back in new forms - they'll look different from the old models, but no word on how to attain them yet. If you got your raptor before the shattering - don't worry, it'll still be unique.
is the (current) model of the new Swift Razzashi raptor from the soon-to-be-revamped Zul'Gurub. It has red skin with green stripes, and green/deep silver armor. Please bear in mind that the PTR phase for patch 4.1 is still very fresh, and change is entirely possible.
As of Patch 4.1, this mount has been replaced by the Armored Razzashi Raptor and is no longer possible to obtain.
ugly mount dropped 4 times for me back in the day wish the tiger dropped instead of this crap got it on 4 chars though -_-
You can no longer get this mount if some one missed that. Instead there's a similiar one that blizzard made Armored Razzashi Raptor
Raptor Buddies for Life! :)
This mount (when obtained) will
show in your Armory overview on Blizzard's Battlenet.
Which causes a difference between your owned mounts ingame and your owned mounts according to Battlenet / Armory.
If you don't own it, you won't see it in both ofcourse (also not under "not collected").
so so jealous
I stopped playing at the end of 2013 but came back in the middle of march.
Just noticed that this guy makes the noise when you mount him but not when you jump or do /mountspecial. Is this a bug or am I just not hearing his plea for help?

This mount had never dropped for me unfortunately, but after countless attempts at getting the Armored Razzashi Raptor it finally dropped for me! incredibly trivial fight now in ZG at level 100, and I must say it was worth the wait, the mount is beautiful, and in my opinion, nicer than the old Swift version!
Today was in Dalaran Server: BMAH Nagrand for 100k gold.... Not insane price for a mount that is no longer obtainable in-game.
got it on defis brotherhood EU
gold 990K cap
I've purchased 3 BMAH boxes since WoD hit. I got a Blue Proto Drake - 21k paid. T3 Warrior shoulders - 45k paid (I'm a paladin) Swift Razzashi Raptor - 22k paid.
Won the bid on an unclaimed container yesterday on Silvermoon EU, ended up paying 40k for it and getting this old ZG raptor in it, i consider myself VERY Lucky
Seen it today on twisting nether on BMAH for 968k gold
Just sold on Azuremyst-US for 956,000g about a week ago.
954k instantly on BL. sicko - i rather sell my gold for $ than bid
Someone bid 1 Million on this today. Someone REALLY likes Raptor mounts.
I got mine at 2009-06-27, I would like to share some nostalgia with you. :)
Started the bidding at 4.6m on US-Tichondrius. Came back the next day to find out I won. Not sure if I over paid for it considering no one challenged my intial price.
Just got one out of a BMAH box for 48k.
After losing a 5.8 million gold bidding war for this months ago, I got it tonight from a 140k container and can confirm you will get the feats of strength achievement with this.
Does this still drop? Rarity seems to think so, but I'm 180 attempts in and don't have anything to show for it.
Bought this for 5.35m on the black market, and instantly got the achievement as I learned the mount.
On Caelestrasz/Nagrand/Saurfang today, 28/2/2022. 300k currently "long' time remaining
Just got it from my first ever BMAH box.
Cost me a juicy 375k but it was worth every coin.
Purchased this mount on the BMAH for 2.7M gold. I was awarded with the Feat of Strength when learning it.
