Battle for Azeroth
, the upcoming WoW expansion following
Legion
, all playable classes have received a significant update. Many abilities removed with the mass prune from Legion as well as past expansions are back! In this overview, we'll highlight all class abilities, as well as new, changed, or removed talents. Grey to green text indicate changes between
Legion
and the current version of
Battle for Azeroth
; more information can be found by going to the Changelog within the relevant spell page. Keep in mind that information is largely derived from the tooltips, so typographical errors may be intentional to match.
Some notable overall changes:
Individual buttons for Druid travel forms
.
Each individual Druid travel form now has its own passive ability, meaning druids can glyph different forms for each of their travel forms.
Arcane Torrent and Every Man for Himself changed
.
Two of the strongest racial effects have received changes in BfA, with
Arcane Torrent
receiving a new effect and added to the GCD and
Will to Survive
having its cooldown increased.
The majority of class cooldowns have been added to the GCD
.
Abilities that are in the Global Cooldown, or GCD, cannot be used at the same time, meaning you must wait for the default GCD, 1.5s reduced by haste, until you can use your next ability.
Before BfA, many abilities were called "off-GCD" as you could two or more of them at the same time, even in the same button macro. For BfA, Blizzard started to reduce to amount of abilities in this state.
All melee abilities now scale with both Attack Power and Weapon Damage
.
The actual ability damage formula for all non-casters has changed, and now all those abilities use both weapon damage and attack power, even abilities like
Shield Slam
or
Howling Blast
.
This appears to be intended to create a better balance between classes, rather than some favoring weapons heavily (
Warrior
), while others hardly at all (
Monk
).
Bleed and Poison ticks now scale with Haste
.
Bleeds and poisons from
Hunter
,
Rogue
, and
Warrior
were the only over time effects not affected by haste, which is being changed in Battle for Azeroth.
Hunter pets have set specializations, which offer different types of utility, and several pet families have changed specs
.
Hunter pets are receiving an overhaul in BfA to improve their utility and streamline their usability.
Battle for Azeroth has a huge stat and ilvl squish.
Battle for Azeroth implements the second stat squish for World of Warcraft, two expansions after the
Warlords of Draenor Squish
.
Unlike Warlords, Battle for Azeroth will also have an item level squish, changing the item level previously found on classic items as well.

Bone Shield: Surrounds you with a barrier of whirling bones, reducing all damage you take by 16% and increasingincreasing Armor by (40 * Strength / 100), and your Haste by 10%. Each melee swingattack against you consumes a charge. Lasts 30 sec or until all charges are consumed.

Festering Strike
DealsStrikes for (129.6101.088% of Attack power) Physical damage and infects the target with 2 to 42-3 Festering Wounds.
Scourge Strike
An unholy strike that deals (132%30% of Attack power) Physical damage and (68%16.5% of Attack power)% Shadow damage, and causes 1 Festering Wound to burst.
Clawing Shadows
Deals (165%40% of Attack power) Shadow damage and causes 1 Festering Wound to burst.
Death Strike
Blood, Unholy: Focuses dark power into a strike that deals 284%46.4256% of Attack Power Physical damage and heals you for 30%25% of all damage taken in the last 5 sec, minimum 10%7% of maximum health.
Frost: Focuses dark power into a strike with both weapons, that deals a total of (284% + 250%46.4256 + 46.4256% of Attack Power) Physical damage and heals you for 30%25% of all damage taken in the last 5 sec, minimum 10%7% of maximum health.

Blood Death Knight
Apply Aura: Modifies Damage/Healing Done by 15% 29%.
Blood Boil
Deals (375%30% of Attack power) Shadow damage.
Dancing Rune Weapon
Summons a rune weapon for 8 sec that mirrors your melee attacks and bolsters your defenses.
While active, you gain 40% parry chance.
Cooldown changed from 3 min cooldown to 2 min cooldown
Death and Decay
Blood: Corrupts the targeted ground, causing 28.62%3.6036% of Attack power) * 11] Shadow damage over 10 sec to targets within the area.
While you remain within the area, your Heart Strike will hit up to 3 additional targets.
Death's Caress
Reach out with necrotic tendrils, dealing (90%14.742% of Attack power) Shadow damage and applying Blood Plague to your target.
Gorefiend's Grasp
Shadowy tendrils coil around all enemies within 2015 yards of a hostile or friendly target, pulling them to the target's location.
Heart Strike
Instantly strike the target and 1 other nearby enemy, causing 203%24.219% of Attack Power Physical damage, and reducing enemies' movement speed by 50%20% for 8 sec.
Generates 5 bonus runic power.
Icebound Fortitude
Your blood freezes, granting immunity to Stun effects and reducing all damage you take by 20%30% for 8 sec.
Marrowrend
Smash the target, dealing 315%37.557% of Attack Power Physical damage and generating 3 charges of Bone Shield.
Bone Shield: Surrounds you with a barrier of whirling bones, reducing all damage you take by 16% and increasingincreasing Armor by (40 * Strength / 100), and your Haste by 10%. Each melee swingattack against you consumes a charge. Lasts 30 sec or until all charges are consumed.
Mastery: Blood Shield
Each time you heal yourself with Death Strike, you gain 12%16.0% of the base amount healed as a Physical damage absorption shield.
Also increases your attack power by 8.0%.

Your auto attack critical strikesattacks have a chance to summon a Bloodworm.
Bloodworms deal minor damage to your target for 15 sec and then burst, healing you for 15% of your missing health.
If you drop below 50% health, your Bloodworms will immediately burst and heal you.

Bonestorm
A whirl of bone and gore batters nearby enemies, dealing (115.9% 15.2334%of Attack Power) Shadow damage every 1 sec, and healing you for 2%3% of your maximum health every time it deals damage. Lasts 1 sec per 10 Runic Power spent.
Foul Bulwark
Each charge of Bone Shield increases your maximum health by 2%1%.
Tier 3 Talent
Mark of Blood
Places a Mark of Blood on an enemy for 2515 sec. The enemy's damaging auto attacks will also heal their victim for 3%2% of the victim's maximum health.
Tier 6 Talent
Cooldown changed from None to 6 sec
Ossuary
While you have at least 5 Bone Shield charges, the cost of Death Strike is reduced by 5 Runic Power.
Additionally, your maximum Runic Power is increased by 10.

Rapid Decomposition
Your Blood Plague and Death and Decay deal damage 15% more often.and while in your Death and Decay you generate 1 Runic Power every 1 sec.
Red Thirst
Spending Runic Power will decrease the remainingReduces the cooldown on Vampiric Blood by 1 sec per 610 Runic Power spent.

Tightening Grasp
Reduces the cooldown on Gorefiend's Grasp by 30 sec, and your Death and Decay also reduces the movement speed of enemies within its radius by .
Tier 5 Talent
Tombstone
Consume up to 5 Bone Shield charges. For each charge consumed, you gain 6 Runic Power and absorb damage equal to 6% of your maximum health for 8 sec.
Blood: Now requires Level 75, up from 60
Tier 3 Talent
Will of the Necropolis
Damage taken below 35% Health is reduced by 35%.
Tier 4 Talent

Blood for Blood
Sacrifices 15% of your total health to increase the damage done by your Heart Strike by 60% for 12 sec.
Cooldown changed from 1.5 sec to none
Dark Simulacrum
Places a dark ward on an enemy player that persists for 12 sec, triggering when the enemy next spends mana on a spell, and allowing the Death Knight to unleash an exact duplicate of that spell.Against nonplayers, only absorbs some harmful spells.
Decomposing Aura
All enemies within 10 yards slowly decay, losing up to 3% of their max health every 2 sec. Stacks up to 5 times. Lasts for 6 sec.
Murderous Intent
Intimidates the target, increasing their damage taken by 5%3% for 6 sec. Each unique player that attacks the target increases the damage taken by an additional 5%3%, stacking up to 5 times.
Your melee attacks refresh the duration of Intimidated.
Overpowered Rune Weapon
Empower Rune Weapon's cooldown is reduced by 2 minutes.Reduces the cooldown of Empower Rune Weapon by 50%, but causes it to only activate 3 Runes.
Death Chain
Chains 3 enemies together, dealing (29.484% of Attack power) Shadow damage and causing 25%20% of all damage taken to also be received by the others in the chain. Lasts for 1510 sec.

Tier 3 Talent
Breath of Sindragosa
Continuously deal (315%66% of Attack power) ShadowfrostFrost damage every 1 sec to enemies in a cone in front of you. Deals reduced damage to secondary targets. You will continue breathing until your Runic Power is exhausted or you cancel the effect.
Frostscythe
A sweeping attack that strikes all enemies in front of you for (135%14% of Attack Power) Frost damage. This attack benefits from Killing Machine. Critical strikes with Frostscythe deal 4 times normal damage.
Tier 4 Talent
Frozen Pulse
While you have fewer than 23 full Rune, your auto attacks radiate intense cold, inflicting (40%4.5% of Attack power) Frost damage on all nearby enemies.
Tier 4 Talent
Gathering Storm
Each Rune spent during Remorseless Winter increases its damage by 15%10%, and extends its duration by 1.0 sec.
Glacial Advance
Summon glacial spikes from the ground that advance forward, each dealing (375%]42% of Attack power) Frost damage and applying Razorice to enemies near their eruption point.
Tier 6 Talent, cost changed from None to 30 Runic Power, cooldown changed from 15 sec to 6 sec cooldown
Horn of Winter
Blow the Horn of Winter, gaining 2 Rune and generating 2025 Runic Power.
Icecap
Your Frost Strike, Frostscythe, and Obliterate critical strikes reduce the remaining cooldown of Pillar of Frost by 1.0 sec.

Icy Talons
Frost Strike increasesYour Runic Power spending abilities increase your melee attack speed by 12%5% for 6 sec, stacking up to 3 times.
Inexorable Assault
While in combat with no enemy within 8 yards, you Gain Inexorable Assault every 1 sec. Each stack causes your next autoattack to deal (100% of Attack power) additional Frost damage.8 sec, stacking up to 5 times.
Obliterate and Frostscythe consume a stack to deal an additional (20% of Attack power) Frost damage.

Murderous Efficiency
Consuming the Killing Machine effect has a 50% chance to cause you to gain 1 Rune.grant you 1 Rune.
Permafrost
When you deal damage with auto attacks, gain anYour auto attack damage grants you an absorb shield equal to 100%40% of the damage dealt.
Honor Talents
Chill Streak
Deals up to 3% of the target's total health in Frost damage and reduces their movement speed by 70% for 4 sec.
Chill Streak bounces up to 9 times between closest targets.
Dark Simulacrum

Tundra Stalker
Damage of your Frost Strike is increased by 15% on snared targets, and critical strike chance increased by 50% on rooted targets.
Azerite Traits
Decimate
Obliterate has an additional 5% chance to trigger Rime, and Obliterate deals an additional 539 damage when it critically strikes.
Frozen Tempest
Remorseless Winter deals an additional 39 damage. The first time Remorseless Winter deals damage to 3 different enemies, you gain Rime.
Glacial Contagion
Your autoattacks have a chance to apply Glacial Contagion, dealing 273 Frost damage over 14 sec. Obliterate deals an additional 29 damage to targets infected with Glacial Contagion.
Icy Citadel
When Pillar of Frost expires, your Strength is increased by 99 for 6 sec. This effect lasts 2 sec longer for each Obliterate and Frostscythe critical strike during Pillar of Frost.

Killer Frost
Frost Strike deals 54 additional damage with each hit and has a 15% chance on critical strikes to grant Killing Machine.

Icy Citadel
When Pillar of Frost expires, your Strength is increased by 99 for 6 sec. This effect lasts 2 sec longer for each Obliterate and Frostscythe critical strike during Pillar of Frost.

Latent Chill
Frost Strike deals an additional 116 damage if you have at least 3 empty runes.

Echoing Howl
When empowered by Rime, Howling Blast causes a secondary burst of icy wind around you that deals 216 Frost damage to nearby enemies.

Dark Transformation
Transform your minion into an powerful undead monstrosity for 20 sec15 sec. The minion's abilities are empowered and take on new functions while the transformation is active.
Death Coil
Fires a blast of unholy energy at the target, causing (222.6%36.4619% of Attack power) Shadow damage to an enemy and restoring 10 Energy to your abomination/ghoul. Reduces the cooldown of Dark Transformation by 1 sec

Death and Decay

While you remain within the area, your Scourge Strike will hit all enemies near the target.
Festering Strike

Festering Wound
Festering Strike applies a pustulent lesion that will burst on death or when damaged by Scourge Strike, dealing (106%20% of Attack power) Shadow damage and generating 3 Runic Power.
Stacks up to 6 times on any target.

Besides those exclusive abilities, all pets receive

We have tamed all different families on Alpha to test which specialization and abilities each family had and the results are in the table below.
