So I'm sacrificing Health AND mana to heal someone else for basically the same amount I just lost...? am I the only one seeing something awfully wrong here?

Shamans are sacraficing raids HP with their Spirit Link Totem since 2011, where 10% damage reduction is realy minor... its considered one of the major healing CDs.

Light of Martyr works bit differently but is very similar in nature...

So now, finaly, I can kill myself when I'm healing someone ... It's a great! Very nice! Uhh, stop - who am I kidding? It is not funny, it is terrible. WTF is going on with holy pals, does any one can tell me, huh? Ambiguous mastery, strange spells ... Maybe someone from game developers or designers was affected and enslaved by Legion?

I've been using this constantly. Pick the right talents and you have dual beacons and can Flash of Light yourself or the tank or the main and off tank, recoup mana and use any +50% FoL procs, proc the LotM health reduction, and cycle through the beacons and the rest of the group with LotM and Holy Shocks. Love it.

The damage the holy paladin receives from LotM....is it physical or magical? Because technically it can be prevented by using BoP, correct? So, if you and your mate are low HP, you could Bop yourself and spam instant heal without being interrupted.
Any thoughts?

So killing myself in Dal in ver. 7.3.2 landed me no repair cost. Looks like we have a way to avoid wipe cost if pulled off properly.

I've been playing around with this spell, and I've found out a few things:

It deals Holy damage.
, Divine Protection and Divine Shield reduce the damage done by this spell.
This spell does trigger Leech, but the amount leeched is based only on the amount healed, not the damage dealt.
The damage dealt by this spell is unaffected by Versatility; it neither increases the damage dealt, nor reduces damage taken
The damage taken does trigger some Azerite traits, but not others. Traits like Impassive Visage work, but traits like Gemhide do not.

I think this spell is pretty good, considering the syngergy it has with Impassive Visage & Resounding Protection if you don't take any other damage while the cooldown is up.
It is also quite useful in dungeons, if you have Vampiric Speed.
Or using Divine Shield and spamming it while low on mana.

The Holy Paladin gameplay changed quite a bit since BFA, i don't feel as strong since.

In Shadowlands i felt, i was casting way more than before and being in melee wasn't as useful as before since our damage/heals aren't as strong as before to force us to stay in melee because we lost a lost since BFA.
So i started to try out new things and end up playing Paladin as a "caster" like in the past expansions.

The idea is Beacon of Light on the tank and Beacon of Faith on myself.
After that with that new Conduit "Untempered Dedication" i started to spam Light of the Martyr and i noticed huge heal crits up to 8-9k(12k with wings) for an instant spell !
(Currently ilvl 174)
The damage you take is nothing compared to how effective you are, after that you can chill in the back and gather some Holy Power by healing yourself and keep using Martyr on your group and then Word of Glory yourself (tank) if necessary it will heal the tank(you) anyway!

It seems dangerous but try to see it as you sacrifice so of your HPs to redirect health towards your teammates, considering the few HPs you lose compared to how much heal output you'll do, is a poor sacrifice, i repeat for an instant cast. And don't forget you have some panic buttons: Divine Toll, your bubble and Lay on Hands...

So this build has some advantages because with Rule of Law it allows you to stay afar and keep getting huge heals, you don't have to go back to melee unless you want extra Holy Power if needed but since you have the Beacon of Faith on yourself, you can just heal yourself and get Holy Power on demand instead of waiting you Crusader Strike to be available again.

This is in a perspective of 5 man group. I have no idea if in a raid one Paladin among all Paladins can be the "big heal hitter" with Martyr while the others focus on AoE healing.
To me, this new gameplay is extremely satisfying, as i would like to call it Blood Sacrifice gameplay.

For Holy Paladins, this is a key healing spell when there is a lot of running, and you are unable to stand still and cast Flash of Light.

Since it cannot be used on yourself, here is a macro to Holy Shock yourself in emergency situations:
