In 3.1 this seems like an awesome "oh sh.." button, healing your lowest 3 people for around 4.5k, every 2 secs for 8 secs (4 heals per person).

If disc specced, crits will proc Divine Aegis. Works also when used behind a pillar in arena; nice "oh crap" button, unless you have a rogue at your butt.

Say it hits persion A, B, and C. After the heal, A has more health than D.

The next tic, the spell will heal B, C, and D, as D has less health than A.

One of the smartest healing spells in game, and clearly one of the best.

EDIT: To clarify, this used to be available to all priests, and only hit 3 targets. It was the first "Smart Heal" of the game, so this is what this comment is for. It still applies to the spell though, just instead o A, B, and C, it also heals D and E, but if F has less health than one of those, it will take priority. :P

According to the patch notes:

World of Warcraft Client Patch 3.1.0:
"Divine Hymn redesigned: You recite a Holy hymn, summoning the power of the Divine to assist you in your time of need. Heals 3 nearby lowest-health friendly party or raid targets for 4960-5208 every 2 seconds for 8 seconds, and increases healing done to them by 15% for 8 seconds. Maximum of 12 heals. The Priest must channel to maintain the spell. Cooldown increased to 6 minutes, up from 5."

Yet as we can see, it has a cooldown of 10 minutes in-game, interesting little error they seem to have got going here.

Disc priests, use this in conjunction with Borrowed Time, Power Infusion, and Inner Focus to pull off a free, hasted emergency heal. With the right timing, you will save your group or raid with this combo.

try Divine hymn at heigan the unclean in naxx

due to the 300% cast time debuff the ticks are every 8 secs (u should have some haste so a little less than 8 secs) this makes the regen alot slower, but you can get the 10% healing buff buff to last for about 30 seconds instead of the usual 14 secs ( refresh every 2 secs for 3 ticks = 6 secs + 8 seconds of last tick)

proves very handy aswell, just discovered it myself in the fight

the same could work with the 20% mana increase of Hymn of hope

Has anyone had trouble casting Divine Hymn during the Twin Valkyr encounter? I've tried twice now, once for each week that they've been available, and the spell gets cut off immediately each time.

The latest PTR notes reveal that Divine Hymn is getting a 2-minute reduction in cooldown. That's right, folks. You'll soon be able to cast it every 8 minutes as opposed to 10. I am happy. Let there be no doubt. As with everything, however, nothing is ever set in stone until it is finalized. But I think this is a nice change.

I sometimes see other priests in pugs using this to top everyone up after a wipe. Makes me cry.

There was a bug in the past where each heal was getting only its target crit chance, but they seemed to have fixed it because I'm getting 50-60% crit chance with it using Inner Focus now.

It scales really well, and crit heals 9k-11k routinely. It hit this hard before they nerfed it, but imagine if it wasn't nerfed.

15k crit heals.

Despite all its perks and shine I did not use this spell once between dinging level 80 and killing the unnerfed Lich King. Through all hard modes and server firsts the usability of this spell proved near zero.The unique perk of this spell is being able to sit back and get a drink during some boss's special ability. What is not the attitude of an endgame raid priest.

This feels like Felmyst and Mass Dispel. Unless Blizzard designs an encounter what requires this spell I will not use it.
Maybe it will be of use in the next expansion. Like what happened to Mass Dispel.

So I was a brand new priest healing my first ever Wrath Heroic. GS of 3100-ish.

We were clearly wiping. Wanting to see what this spell would do (given i thought it only healed for 3k, idk why) I unleashed this spell and proceeded to watch in a stupor induced awe, as every. single. person. went from the brink of death to near full health.

Holy crap, this spell is amazing.

This is an extremely mana efficient cooldown. Using it is going to be a matter of personal opinion but in 4.1 it is great because it can no longer be interrupted. You can choose to either use this when very low mana and healing is much needed or during a period of heavy damage where you may get interrupted. A good example of this would be: Healing on the pillar on Nefarion.

The tooltip says a maximum of 12 heals. Does this mean that with more haste you do NOT get extra ticks?

IMO, really weak for an 8-minute CD. Sure it's nice, but it could really use some buffing seeing as Tranq heals so much more on a 3 minute CD, and of course, Holy priest's lack of a raid healing/mitigation CD. (Lightwell doesn't count...gl getting people to click it for that ~13k heal)

Also, didn't blizz say they wanted to move away from super-long-CD spells? This is like, the 2nd longest CD (only beat by unglyphed LoH) and it's terrible compared to things like tranq, barrier or spirit link totem.

Yay, buffed in 4.3 to make it not useless.

Divine Hymn now heals up to 5 targets, up from 3. Maximum of 20 heals, up from 12.

Currently in 4.2 this is a very very weak spell. In disc spec with full T12 (assuming no overhealing is done by either spell,) the healing done per second by DH is ~20k HPS lower than simply spamming Prayer of Healing with 25% haste and 7.8k spellpower.

Currently it's simply not a viable raid healing tool, particularly for disc priests, however in 4.3 it should become a fairly strong cooldown again, hopefully bringing it back in line with Druids Tranquility. The new talent Heavenly Voice (ptr) may also prove to address some of the performance issues seen with Holy priests in Firelands.

Pre-4.3 I could cast this spell in 5-man Heroics and people in the party would die during the channel.

Post-4.3 I cast this twice during a raid encounter and it automatically becomes my second highest healing spell, also, no one dies.

Here's the formula for scaling with SP and talents

HEAL_PER_TICK = (4009 + %SP * .429) * (1 + %SH + %SANC + %HV) * (1 + %TD)
%SP = Spell Power
%SH = Spiritual Healing
%SANC = Chakra: Sanctuary
%HV = Heavenly Voice
%TD = Twin Disciplines

With all the above talents, the formula is:

HEAL_PER_TICK = (4009 + %SP * .429) * (1 + .15 + .15 + 1) * (1 + .06)

This is being removed from Discipline healers and only Holy can use it in patch 5.0 Mists of Pandaria. I hate Blizzard and their BS changes.
