If you would like your mounts and non-combat pets to also take on the visual effect from Shadowform, you will need to apply Glyph of Shadowy Friends directly to the ability in the Shadow Priest Spellbook.

Changed in 7.3 to not make you translucent any more. More Purpleform than Shadowform now....

As of patch 7.3 shadowform no longer makes the player a shadow. Reduced and nerfed to a violet gloss outline, as the previous version was too powerful. No glyph option currently available to revert the effect.

Just came back to WoW.. last played BC.

Came back to find that I now have Purple-Fart Form. FEAR MY SHADOWY GAS...

It seems that the Glyph of Shadow removes the gassy miasma that wafts off of your Shadowform. Glyph of Shadowy Friends passes the gas (and purplyness) onto your mounts and companions.

Visual effect updated again in 8.0. The transparency has returned and it's a lot more smokey than previously. Movement makes you look like a blur from behind, almost like a shadow.

I have come up with a TellMeWhen icon to remind you when both Shadowform and Voidform are missing:

As of Midnight, using Shadowform in Silvermoon will get the guards' attention:

The nearby guard glares at you and the void energy that you surround yourself with.

12.0.5 update, Silvermoon guards are getting a bit more tolerant!

The guard gives you a polite nod, despite their eyes lingering on your void energies.
