I had really good luck at 31,72 area. great drop rate. there aren't a lot of them though, about 6 so you may have to wait for respawn or go to previous coord suggestion for the rest of them.

Ive tried several spots, the drop -ofcourse- doesnt change.
I killed about 40 mobs when the 7th dropped.. Really bad drop rate.

They are allso immune to Hunters mark /cry

In addition to their other immunities, they're immune to rend, deep wounds, impale, and hamstring. I would've tested mortal strike against them, but since I don't have any mana, they don't use mana drain on me.

Low HP, weak hits...a rogue or feral druid should make short work of these quickly.

Drop rate doesn't change from area to area, so ignore the above posts saying that the drop rate is best as so-and-so.

Lousy drop rate, but the easy kills make it somewhat tolerable as a the grind quest that it is.

Droprate for the 7 quest items is about 35%.
Just keep killing them around 37,59 until you have them all.

Kill the Mana Wraiths for the quest drops, the drop rate is NOT that great BUT they do drop motes of mana which are good for alot of trades or just to sell for some nice gold, so it's not so bad.

In Ruins of Enkaat u will find many spots :).
For me it was 2 kill each drop, good XP and nice Quest. :)

Took me 13 kills to get the first. Be prepared to bring plenty of water if you're a mana user as the mana burn potential will leave you empty often

They do arcane damage instead of physical and you can't block it with your shield, or parry with your weapon.

i had about a 65% drop rate around 36.60..hope this helps you out.

Bad news for hunters these creatures are immune to almost all of your attacks. Even Hunter's Mark wont work. If you are in Marks use Aimed shot.

Also I had a really bad drop rate for this quest

lol i have killed like 14 of them at the first then i said 1 more mob if it doesnt drop ill abandon q then all 7 items dropped hehe my luck try near ruins of enkaat there are a lot of them

Drop rate was 0% all around until I found the ones at 35, 58, then almost 100%

This quest sucks big time for all balance druids out there!
These guys are immune to Wrath, Starfire AND Moonfire..
Entangling Roots and Insect Swarm works, but it takes alot of time of course..

Going into Cat form to kill these guys really sucks, 'cause you don't have too much DPS in Cat as a balance druid..
All in all a really awful quest for Balance druids!

i don't know but - they are pretty easy for - holy paladin or retribution paladin - it was easy for me - .. ahh i have no problem with holy paladin - i kill everything - nothing can't beat my pala :D

Must have changed the drop rate, killed about 16 of them to get 7/7. So drop rate was about 43% for me, maybe i just got lucky though.

serpent sting, rake and scorpid sting now work but they still are immune to arcane.

Their found north of Area 52 in Ruins of Enkaat, in the pits.

They will drain your mana

Droprate is 50% according to my mod, wowhead info is unreliable because of people farming these mobs without the quest.

Immune to Arcane. Concussion shot & Hunters Mark is arcane

No comments in quite awhile. I went to Chief Engineer Trep to get the quest. Apparently he is no longer offering it, or anything for that matter. He is located in Area 52 at 32, 66 if you have coords.

Here is a tip for you arcane mages while doing this quest:
DON'T $%^&ING DO IT
The wraiths immunity to arcane magic combined with the low quest-item drop makes this quest the worst pain in the ass ever. If you never had a reason to buy duel-spec before, now you do.

1. Essence for the Engines
• Accept the quest, Essence for the Engines, from Chief Engineer Trep at coords 32.4, 66.6 (Area 52).
• Travel north to the area of coords 34, 58.
• Kill Mana Wraith and loot 7 Mana Wraith Essence from their corpses (these mobs are also located south of Area 52 in fewer quantity).
• Travel back to Area 52, to coords 32.4, 66.6.
• Turn in the quest to Chief Engineer Trep.

Please note that as an arcane mage, you will have to change specs, as they are immune to every damaging spell we have and they are impossible to kill! Frost works like a charm.

Essence for the Engines

Collect 7 Mana Wraith Essences and return them to Chief Engineer Trep at Area 52 in the Netherstorm.

Description

As the X-52's chief of engineering, I have to see to it that the nether-rocket's main engines are in tip-top shape.

Unfortunately, I haven't built them yet.

<class>, I'm in dire straits here! I have almost all of the parts. All that I'm missing is the engine core.

Luckily for us, I think we can make use of the essence from the local mana wraiths to jump-start the engines.

They can be found near most of the glowing trenches in the northern part of the island. Except for here in Area 52, of course.
