In the Retired - Achievement section, the Black and Plagued Proto-Drakes are from the 3.0 Glory of the Raider (10 player)/Glory of the Raider (25 player) achievements, not the 3.1 Ulduar iterations (those awarded the Rusted and Ironbound Proto-Drakes).

Just a suggestion, but you have the pandaren mounts under "both" even though they're horde or alliance only, and some under faction that are purchasable by either side (like those in Dalaran). Maybe switch those up?

Twice now I have learned mounts and they did not add to my "We're going to need more saddles" achievement tally. I was at 126/150 before I bought and learned the Azure Water Strider, and was still 126/150 after I learned it. I created a ticket, and the customer support guy told me he couldn't give me advice about the game and that I needed to try a website like this to get an answer. So does anybody know why both the water strider mount and a flying carpet did not add to my achievement tally?

I'm sure a lot of ppl simply skimmed the intro paragraph and may have missed a feature I have implemented in a sneaky way to save in visual clutter.

Category mount totals are hyperlinks to the Quartermaster that sells the items. Hover your mouse over it and check for yourself.

Don't be ashamed to admit you didn't notice. My friends I had check out the guide didn't realize it either. :)

The Netherwing, Gold is wrong it´s suppose to be 800 gold..you need to add fix so it shows the exalted price and not the price when you are unfriendly..or do you want ppl to get the wrong infomation..

Is the correct reward for the horde quest, Breath of Darkest Shadow. The one with Armour is the vendor purchased one (whose price seems to be off, too, it's listed as a base of 2,000 gold).

One side note. For people that do not want to do dailies everyday for the argent tournament mounts a good alternative is to rep grind nether wing and shatari sky guard. That's at least another 12 mounts and more likely closer to 16. Both are pretty simple to do they are just a time consuming grind paired with dailies.

Awesome guide! Thanks so much, can't imagine how much work it was to lay everything out so it's easy to see what you're missing.

Side notes for people collecting:
Onyx Cloud Serpent is a quest reward from Shado-Pan (and therefore free). You can acquire all 3 normal colors of cloud serpents (azure/jade/golden) for free by doing the dailies on 3 characters and picking a different color egg each time. Also, your first Netherwing Drake is obtained for free thru a quest chain.

Make sure to scroll over profession mounts - some of them do not require a profession to use, and even if you can't use them on every character (like flying carpets if you're not a tailor) they will still count towards your total.

Also new with patch 6.0.2 - the revamped mount collection tab shows collected/not collected mounts for BOTH factions, which may push your apparent total over the next achievement mark. HOWEVER, collection achievement progress is still counted on a per-character basis. (New for patch 7.0 the achievement now specifies usable by a single character)

Awesome news for those of us that hate PvP but love talbuks: this rare mission awards enough tokens to buy a mount!

10/14/14 as patch 6.0.2 drops today, Reins of the Kor'kron War Wolf and all pandaren phoenix are now unobtainable (grats if you had one, you now own all 4)
The armory appears to be on the fritz- every mount I have collected since (6.0?) is showing as a white stallion (I don't have any, nevermind 10)- makes it a little difficult to keep track. In-game tracking is working though.

I'll be happy to keep updating here - but I've found a brand new WoD-only guide for us collectors. As this comment was getting a bit messy, I've removed any mount duplicated on that guide.

you can't buy reins of the plagued proto drake at the BMAH (black market auction house)
but you can buy the reins of the blue and green protodrake at the BMAH.

This is an amazing guide. I just want to point out that you list the Red and Blue Dragonhawks separately - but they only count as one mount. I got the red dragonhawk on my Horde character, and when I play Alliance, it becomes a blue one.

Quick way to get all the racial mounts without having to wear the tabard and grind the dungeons up. Log out of your character switch servers to whatever.
Create a Death Knight of what ever race you need the racial mounts for
Spend 30 min to an hour getting through the DK starting area.
Fly to your mount vendor for your race.
Buy all the mounts. You should have enough gold from the questing, and starting gear you can sell off.
since they are account bound when you log into your main character they will be there

Rinse and Repeat.

I did not get credit for acquiring the Armored Snowy Gryphon today. Still at 96/100 mounts. Wow, spent 1,400 gold too, hoping it would count towards my 100 mount achievement. And yes, I checked to see if I already had it, and I didn't. Help please.

I am not sure if this will make a difference in your mount count or not. But the Skyclaw mount is not available to players. As unfortunate as it is. I would have loved to get this on my engineer. Really disappointing actually. I saw this and thought to myself I had to look it up. But it clearly says "Not Available to players"

Great guide! Note that the GuildOx link should be changed to http://www.guildox.com/go/g.aspx?a=27 (faction specific ranks) since the Blizzard API no longer provides faction combined mounts.

It's akward to me to put Sha of Anger and Galleon in Rare-Spawn mounts, their not actually "Rare" since 5.1 if I remember well, their respawn time is 15 min, they should not be near the TLPD or Aeonaxx which are real rare spawn.

Think both have their place in the Raid section.

But it's just my opinion.

Gents, I'm retiring from WoW. I may update this every now and then if you want to link a COMBINED list of all the new mounts for a patch. However, I'm not going to be johnny-on-the-spot like I have been by looking at various sites multiple times a day to know everything coming out and updating w/i hours of any Mount news.

Long story short, updates may come every few months as I poured in so much effort to this guide and don't want to completely abandon it. Again, remember that I no longer play this game--so please make it easy for me to do so.

(Please upvote this so ppl may quickly realize this fact)

It has been a pleasure to service the WoW community with this guide. Mount Collecting was my passion and keeping this guide updated real time with whatever came out was something I truly loved doing. While I did quit WoW in 5.2, with the assistance of kind ppl in this community on linking new mounts in comments below, I invested the time to still keep this guide updated until the end of the expansion. I couldn't just let over 100x hours of my life invested here turn to dust.

Quick question:
Can anyone confirm or deny that Reins of the Blonde Riding Yak , Reins of the Grey Riding Yak , or Reins of the Grand Expedition Yak do in fact NOT increase your amount of mounts in for example Mountain o' Mounts as of patch 5.4 !
Pretty sure many wouldn't spend the money if it don't count in the achievement.

I have a question that I think I already know the answer to, but need clarification.

I currently sit at 178 mounts on my Horde main. If I create, for example, an Alliance Gnome, level him up and buy the seven Mechanostriders, does my internal counter now sit at 185? I know logging into my Horde main, those 7 mounts will not show up, but do they count towards the title because they are unique? Or is this just wishful thinking on my part that I can quickly level up a bunch of Alliance toons and add 35 mounts to my total, hitting 200+ "internally" and getting the achievement?

I am getting to get 50x mounts for Albino Drake :)

But I found some problems..

I have characters on both factions and today I wend to Ironforge and bought all Rams I can.. sadly to achievment it counted only some.

Why?

Same when I logged my Worgen and bought Swift Mountain Horse - it does not counted in achievment.

edit: just bought Red skeletal horse.. and it did not counted in achievment. Then Blue one.. and it counted.. wtf?

A quick way to get racial mounts is to create a Death Knight, do the Death Knight quests until you get the Death Gate. You get at least 2 gold in the quests, sell everything you get (So you will get lots of gold) since you're level 55 you can get the level 40 version of the mount. I hope this helps you all :)

Thanks for the great guide! I have some extra tools that people who are mount hunting may find very use full. I have composed a list of way points using the Tom Tom addon to help farm the dungeon and raid mounts. Please note I have left rare mobs and world bosses off my list for the most part, I have also not included most Pandaria things.

You will need two addons to make this work; Tom Tom and Macro Toolkit. When you have both addons type /mac in-game to open the Macro Toolkit addon. Then make a new macro and copy in this;

Good job dude pretty good job, but i really though this will show us 1-by-1 how to get the achievements and staff. My favoured mount is the "Armored skyscreamer" and i really want to get a guide of how to do all single achievement from this crazy one and like the icc one and the FL one u know a serious guide! Amani battle bear shouldn't really be under the achievement since you don't get it just for getting the achievement. They are related but separate it is just a guaranteed drop if you do it right, like Twilight Drake from Obsidian Sanctum

On my main character, I have 163 mounts listed under my mount tabs(useable mounts), and 161 in my achievement tab. I do have a couple rare mounts I originally got on my alt, before they were account wide. I think it was 2 of the mounts. But I am also on my pally, so it could be the class mounts. Is there any way to determine which is throwing off my count? I am hoping its the class mounts, not the two I learned on other characters, as that makes mount farming much more limited. Thanks.

The Swift Dawnsaber, which you have in the Pre Patch 1.4 Category actually never saw live servers. Wowwiki says Blizzard wanted to use it as Bloodelf Mount, which i can't really believe, but it got into the game with patch 1.12.1 which would fit.

Also the Raptors aren't together in the pre patch 1.4 Category ... OCD.

This guide to mount collecting was extremely helpful. I appreciate all of the time you have put into making this. I was at 146 mounts and was having trouble trying to figure out where to come up with a few more to hit the 150 mount mark to get the achievement for the kite mount. Thanks to you I have 168 mounts now and I would not have gotten this far without your extensive, descriptive, very informative guide.

The main thing here...is you create the dk on a realm where you got some gold in the first place...forget the pittance you get from the starting area because really it is not so much...when you bare in mind epic versions of the racial mount come in at around 40G+ and i seriously doubt your going to earn anywhere near that..perhaps 25G max and thats picking up all of the crap off the floor to, and then vendor it ..but like i said..there is absolutely no reason whatso ever for you not to create that dk on the same realm where you have some gold.

Also to level a dk through a starting zone is not so slow at all, if you crack on and do it, can easily be done inside 45 minutes...but wait until there are less people there...just makes it all the more quicker imo :D

I've found a website that might be interesting to some/most. The site gives a lot of information on all servers, but it also gives a rundown of how many people (of level 100) has which mount, etc.

ie: It's great to know that Ashes of Al'ar has a 2% drop.. but how many people actually have Al'ar? As of September 2015 a total of 16% of people have it.

Paladin mounts are missing from the Class Mounts section.
Chargers, warhorses, et cetera ( some are race specific too, I believe ).

I love the concept of this guide and it has been VERY useful in the past, so I was excited to see it listed as up to date for "Patch: 6.2.2". Unfortunately it is not (as of 15DEC15) updated for ANYTHING past MoP. Reviewing what is here, I find that no mounts past 5.4 have been added and even 5.4's mounts aren't sorted in to fit the purpose of this guide, they're just tossed into a tacked on "5.4" tab.

It's disappointing but understandable if whoever is currently running this guide isn't going to update it, but don't get it flagged for updates that aren't there. This isn't a 6.2.2 guide, it's a 5.2 guide with a 5.4 band-aid.

An awesome, timeless guide - I just hit my 200 mounts.

A tip for those starting out on the collection journey - there are a lot of mounts out there and some of them are much rarer and more difficult to get than others. If you want to know which mounts are the easier ones to start with then you can generally find this info across a few sites.

One particularly helpful site is http://wowrarity.com/Mounts - it lists the % of each mount owned across accounts, is updated daily and best of all, has links straight back to wowhead.

I think you should move the Reins of the Heavenly Onyx Cloud Serpent to the raid mounts as he's a world boss (not really a rare spawn). Even if considered "rare", the mount is not a 100% drop like for instance the Reins of the Time-Lost Proto-Drake.

Seeing as this guide is 3 years (and 2 expansions) out of date, how many would be interested in an updated version?

I have been working on my own rough database of mounts (a work in progress), and have decided it would be a shame to keep something so useful to myself.

I have used this guide (and many others) to get myself to ~200 mounts in only a handful of months. Yet, in that time, I have not come across a single guide which is both comprehensive and up-to-date.

Surely, with Legion only 1 month away, someone is interested in a guide which is both current and complete?

I believe you forgot the Mag' Har Talbuk mounts under reputation. This was a Nagrand faction in BC. There were about 8 of them I believe.

WOW easy Mounts

one of the few easy to get mounts out there is the Bronze Drake this is a easy to get mount from The Culling of Stratholme Heroic its a time race and its dropped of the Infinite Corruptor. Also there are the rep mounts the fairly easy one is the hippogryph Cenarion Hippogryph for 1600 gold with exalted discount, the rep can u get from one dungeon fairly easy 2k per run.
