Just solo'd 2 of these in the past 20 minutes as a blood DK, 1 in dps gear the other in tank gear. It is easier to do it in tank gear since it is a bit more forgiving. Don't let the spirits hit you, scarabs aren't a problem, don't get hit by his cleave, kite when he does meteors. You can ams the fear if you do it before his cast gets off, or you can hit lichborne or every man if you are human.

Got a mount of the first kill (the jade one)

Tried to solo this as a fury warrior, but didnt make it past 10-15 sec, several tries, swapped prot, never played it before, blue trinkets dps and pvp gear, plus t15 prot gear, had no problem at all, it was just a very long fight, atleast 10 min, but becuz of the 1st set bonus + glyphing victory rush it was very easy. scarab brooch is ur best friend, as warrior, a guaranteed full health back everytime he spawns them :)
also i specced into storm bolt and shockwave, and used it everytime he was casting, meteor shower, which made him cast 50% of the time a different spell.

Didn't drop a mount though sadly.

I've been running a circuit clockwise around Pandaria to the five spawn points. And this is what I've concluded.

I've killed 50+ of them so far and only see the mount drop once. ): Each kill has dropped 3 to 4 bonus rep items that give you 1000 rep with a certain reputation.

The respawn rate seems to be between 40-50 minutes. (edit: I started keeping track of spawn times, and it's steady between 40-50)

Fight is relatively simple, just stay away from the spirit when it appears, and don't stand in the dust cloud to avoid getting hit by his lightening. Occasionally he'll summon a swarm of scarabs who have low health and do low damage. Also a meteor shower that does about 150k damage if you get hit by one.

Scouts patrol nearby around the Warbringer, and have 5 million health and drop 1 of the 1000 reputation items. So they're good to kill if you're waiting for a spawn. There's also an achievement ( Zul'Again ) for killing 10 Scouts and 5 Warbringers!

03/07/12 Update: On first kill of the day the Reins of the Jade Primordial Direhorn dropped, and I lost the roll to a guidlie (his first kill ever too). However he knew how much I have been farming them and gave it to me. :)

Hello,

I farmed the rarespawns today for 2 mounts (My friend and myself both got one). It took us roughly 20 kills to each get a mount.

It can probably be soloed easily by a Warlock (With Kil'Jaeden's Cunning/Grimoire of Supremacy it's a joke and the conflagrate slow so you can kite him if your pet dies.) but takes time and If you are on a PvP server it's dangerous to do this, I was ganked while trying this and the Alliance took my rarespawn, it didn't reset, thus passing the loot to them.) I'd suggest getting a friend(s) to come and farm until you all have the mount(s).

As a blood DK with 484 iLv, I have yet to be able to solo one, yet I found it a touch easier to duo them with another DK - no mount as of yet, but that is no big deal for me despite wanting one of them.

Respawn timer is about 1hour after its kill. The drop rate is not 100%

a helpful tip for those fighting him, tank him far away from the cliff. I had the tag then another group came along and typhooned him off the cliff. he reset and they stole the tag. only applies to the spawns by cliffs of course

Easy as cake to solo as a hunter, but I reckon one needs at least full LFR gear to make it smooth! I have soloed 3 of them so far, using Survival spec, a turtle on passive and binding shot.

First I misdirect to my pet, and kite it to a "safe" area, keeping concussive shot up at all times and simply firing away a multi-shot as soon as the scarabs have spawned, they go down extremely fast with SV aoe power!

I make sure to keep as far away as possible to avoid the fear, BUT if I see that he's about to fear, and I clearly won't be able to avoid it, I set a heal on my pet and send him in. He will take a lot of damage, but use shields to survive. As soon as the fear is over I recall him and make sure to either bind shot or just slow the warbringer again. When he spawns the vengeful spirit I make sure to pull aggro from my pet if I have sent him in to save me.

Kitefest Galore, with some small tricks to survive. Done easily with 492 ilvl, nothing fancy! It'll get easier and easier for sure!

After trying on my Brewmaster Monk and Blood DK I was surprised by the ability of my Combat Rogue to solo these bosses.

Here's how I did it.

First spec into Shuriken Toss and Deadly Throw

My whole rotation was Shuriken Toss to 5 cp and then Deadly Throw, using CDs as soon as they were up.

These talents allow you to fight and snare them from 30 yards away. By extension you avoid the damage from the add as well as meteor storm. His front-facing attack can still hit you if you're not careful but you should be too far away from him for that to happen. Horrific Visage and the scarabs can cause minor problems but Cloak of Shadows and Smokebomb helped mitigate that along with stuns/interrupts/blind/gouge. A PvP trinket might help too.

Scarabs simply AoE down. I dropped combo points from Shuriken Toss into Crimson Tempest and then used sprint to make up the lost downtime on Deadly Throw's snare.

Edit: After the hotfix these mobs can no longer be slowed or stunned. Zandalari Warbringers are, however, still soloable by a rogue provided they do not have the tribal mask buff. Simply alternate Burst of Speed and Shuriken Toss while kiting the boss around a suitably safe area. It might be possible to solo those who can cast the fear by alternating Cloak of Shadows and PvP trinket. I haven't tried this method yet.

some CAN be solo'd by Elemental shaman's. It takes a bit of time, but it can be done. From my experience, the only ones you actually have trouble with is the ones with the scarabs that cause slowdown. Frost Shock is your MAJOR kiting ability here as it seems he barely slows down for the totem, nor for the earth elemental totem's threat (which takes like two hits before falling over, not worth the GCD).

I mostly have LFR gear (4 piece's fully upgraded) and kept circling casting frost shock, then when he was casting and shock cd was off, I would hit him with a flame shock and use ghost wolf to run away faster while the shock yet again resets. This should proc you some Lava Surge love, which is going to be your major go to ability.

Now, I use Spiritwalker's grace in conjunction with Ascendance every 3 minutes to make the damage go a lot quicker (ALWAYS WATCH YOUR FROST SHOCK!). You can even use this with lust, and stormlash totem to get some quick dps in between.

I really did use this simple, annoying method. It took almost 15 minutes, and had a lot of annoying alliance who would pvp and try to screw me up.

Always nice to bring friends, but who needs them sometimes.

I managed to solo one as an ilevel 480 Blood Death Knight, without much difficulty.

-Survivability: No issue
-Eat stars for Vengeance
-Avoid the Spirit adds that hit like trucks.
-It takes a LONG time to burn 21M health solo.

Just going to put it out there that if you're a shaman, then Frozen Power (t2 talent) makes it extremely easy for any spec to kite these.
Since there is no diminishing return, you can easily keep it in place at all times.

Solo'd it as frost mage ilvl 443, in a combination of blue, greens and pvp gear.
kill took me around 14 mins, just rotate your freezes and keep up frostbolt stacks for slows
and increased damage, also remember to interrupt his fear.

Does anyone know how many Warscouts spawn near the area of the Warbringer? It's definitely 2 that I've found so far. Also, do the Warscouts and Warbringers spawn at the same time? I don't think so from my experience so far. In my travels I always see the Warscouts before the Warbringers. But I'm not sure if the Warscouts are always around now and I just have missed the kills etc. Any confirmations or corrections would be helpful :)

Just going to add that be wary of Horde/Alliance players completely messing up your tag. A friend and I (Hunter/DK combo) tagged the Warbringer in Kun Lai and we were going good until Horde showed up and KITED/taunted the Warbringer up the mountain trying to reset it, needless to say, after countless Distracting Shots, taunts, they would not give up.

I sadly (Hunter) died and so did my DK friend and we lost the tag and it end up resetting him.

Was very sad because he had less than 23% in health. Once we got back to our bodies, Horde already tagged and began to kill it.

Easily soloable as a hunter. Just keep up concussive shot and kite the mob around the area. They don't reset from distance so just go wherever you like. Just don't take any melee hits, interrupt the fears and if worse comes to worse have your pet taunt off of you.

Hello, fellow "dragon" hunters!
Id like to clarify few details about these mobs.

First of all, they spawn at 5 different locations and all 5 of them spawn.

They share those spots with lesser rares but they ALWAYS spawn, no matter how many of lesser rares are spawned before. Warbringers are the ones youre looking for, they have a chance about 10% to contain your mount and they also contain +1000 reputation tokens to various factions and two kinds of containers, one drops crafting material, the socond one may drop ilv 440 epic gear. Lesser rares are called Warscouts and their drop is the same except the mount.

The respawn time of Warbringers is 35 minutes to 55 minutes.
The shortest respawn Iv seen was 36minutes and the longest exceeded 50minutes.

Warbringers spawn sitting on Triceratopses of various color and when killed have a chance to drop a mount of that specific color (remains to be confirmed).
There are at least 3 different mounts - Jade, Slate and Amber Direhorn.

While Warscouts are easily soloable, Warbringers are extremely chalenging to solo, especially for non tanks. I recommend you bring two of your friends with you.

Be aware that there are certain "ways" that can be used against you by other players while trying to achieve the kill. Happened to myself that a druid used his taunt several times, pulled the rare so far away that it reseted and his friend taged it afterwards. Also a group of horde players turned pvp on and waited till I accidentaly hit them with non-direct spell and then swoop upon me.
Took me about 8kills to get mine Slate Direhorn but Iv lost many attempts in the process.

I have searched these comments for any insight into how these npcs are tagged and have only found 1 comment reply that confirms the TAG CAN BE STOLEN. I have had several tags stolen while trying to farm these mounts in guild groups. It seems the first hit rule does not always apply, this is very frustrating to me and my guild members, and quite unfair in my opinion. These tags have been stolen in quite spectacular fashion in many cases, particularly mind boggling when someone 20 yds away can manage to get the tag while apparently doing nothing at all but somehow gaining instant aggro and having this npc rush them as soon as it spawns, meanwhile my entire group spams instant attacks that auto target and have obviously gotten the first hit, yet somehow not the tag. If anything like this has happened to you please comment and share, uprating is good too, because I would really like to draw attention to this matter for the benefit of all who feel as cheated as I do.

These rares are easily soloable as a Blood Death Knight, it takes some time, but you don't have to share loot. On average it took me about 10 minutes or less to solo one of these guys. Just backpeddle away from the vengeful spirit, avoid meteors, I can get hit by the shockwave deal and still be just fine, and interrupt horrific visage if they cast it. It's pretty simple.

Easily soloable as Ele shaman. 511 Ilevel.

Kite with unleashed lightning and Frost Shock. Earthbind totem the scarabs and they will never touch you. Interrupt and tremor the fear.

Took 0 damage while soloing over 5 Warbringers.

So i was kiting the one in Krasarang Wilds as a hunter and it evade bugged twice. Anyone know why this might have happened? I did not feign death or anything like that. I also kited him through the water and other islands regularly before he evade bugged. From the comments here, it would appear that he has no leash but still he evaded on me. This happen to anyone else? Anyone know why so I don't waste my time kiting it a certain way?

The amount of aggression of players when it comes to these is unbelievable. I've dealt with people stealing tags (I solo because I'm a hunter) after waiting for me to get it down to nearly 3/4 of the hp, people screaming die at me, being ganked by horde (I wasn't pvp flagged and I'm on a pve server so not sure how that happened...) etc. Really though there isn't any need in doing this to other players, be respectful if you see someone soloing or camping for one, helping out will sometimes result in the help being returned. Rant over, now for the actual helpful info :)

If you come across the Krasarang spawn and decide to solo, kite to the island with the crocodiles on it just to the left. There are no mobs to aggro if you stick to the beach area of the isle. For Kun-lai spawn pull to the big rock that's up the hill a little (there is an eagle that will aggro but barely does any damage) and kite around that. Similar in Townlong, kite around the trees near the basilisk. For Dread Wastes clear a few of the mobs beforehand on the watery area. Now Jade Forest, I like to kite all the way to the nearest village allowing the warbringer to aggro a few guards making killing 10x easier.

For hunters remember if it gets too close use scattershot, save bestial wrath (if you are BM) for if you get caught in a badly timed fear. As the other specs I believe a pvp trinket could also come in handy in this scenario. Remember to KEEP YOUR PET OFF if you rely on it (BM players I'm looking at you), sure the damage will be significantly lower but this is about survival and as long as your pet is by you there is no worry about heals (spirit mend, etc). If you do send your pet it remember to turn growl off if you want to keep it alive, the aggro off everything should be focused on you. Hope this jumble of sentences helps a few people trying to figure where to kite solo and gives other hunters a few tips if you get into trouble :)

Found these guys really annoying to try and solo on my lock. Couldn't get them past 40%. I just got done doing it on my blood dk and it was a face roll. Only problem i had was people taunting him and trying to reset him.

Soloable on a lvl 90 BM hunter w/ turtle pet. I found him near Cranewing Refuge, so I'm guessing some of the points on wowhead's maps are missing? Dropped a Big Bag of Zandalari Supplies and Klaxxi rep token.

Off Spec Brewmaster Solo Guide

Note this is only really for Windwalkers who spec Brewmaster and don't actually have Brewmaster gear. I'm sure an actual Brewmaster would find this a bit easier. But it might help anyway.

I had many, many players observing me like vultures whilst doing my attempt, all just waiting for me to make a mistake. Some of them tried desperately to distract be by mounting on top of the Warbringer and spamming movements. But you must see through all that!

Basically you can't stay and fight him for long. Or at least I couldn't. He hits anywhere between 30k and 80k with his regular attacks. Be prepared for a long, kiting fight, which consists of the following.

A: Finding a nice circle to run in. I did it at the Jade Forest and pretty much just ran him around the tree that he spawns next to. Kite him with a lot of Dizzying Haze / Keg throwing. Use Disable if he gets too close. Keep running, healing sphere as you run if you need to, and make sure he's always slowed with Dizzying Haze. Try not to use it too much as you may end up aggroing other mobs in the area. The mobs where I were, luckily, were only level 85. If you're doing it in Dread Wastes though, where they are 89 or 90, they're liable to be much more of a problem.

B: Damage him down, gradually. Use Crackling Jade Lightning for most of this, as you're able to stay at range, although you will at times be able to stun him and get a bit of your dps rotation in there before taking too much damage, back off again. Use this to interrupt the abilities you don't like him using, too. Better safe than sorry, remember that if you get overconfident with your damaging when he's on low hp, and end up dying- you lose a lot of time and progress, as well as losing the actual tag on the mob.

C: Mix in some Breath of Fire, especially if he's using scarabs. Keg Smash the scarabs too. Provides for some minimal DoT damage, but it should take care of the adds after one or perhaps two breaths - and all that damage will add up over time and shave minutes off the fight.

D: If he summons the spirit thing, paralyze it! It should pretty much leave you able to forget about it since it lasts longer than the spirit's duration. But don't put yourself in danger to do this - if you're nice and far away from it, that's fine. Save your Rolls for escaping from nasty incoming attacks.

To keep yourself healed, keep Guard for moments you may find yourself taking unavoidable big damage, and keep using Expel Harm, Chi Wave, and plenty and plenty of Healing Spheres. Purifying Brew is also great, use it often; especially with the Healing Elixirs talent. You'll DEFINITELY want to use it straight away after being hit

I fought him with all his abilities except fear, which might make this fight a lot harder. Give feedback on how you managed to beat it if you manage to solo a Warbringer that can fear as a Brewmaster, but if you want a tip, save your stuns to interrupt it.

Good luck; I actually died twice doing this, first death at 13m/21m. Luckily the other players present thought I had it sorted and left me to it. I managed to res and re-tag it before any of them got bored enough to check on me again.

Silly me, I didn't realize there were different pages for all the different versions of this guy... so I've pasted my info here from the Jade page:

I just want to say -- please don't be rude about this mob. I just killed him with the help of my friend but while we were still alive and doing well, a warrior (on my same faction) started taunting him away. If people die and you want to give it a go, that's up to you and I don't begrudge that, but if people are still alive and you just come along and start trying to make him reset so YOU can have him.. really jerky move. Let people have their go and wait for the next time.

Edit: I'd like to add this guy is only on a 1-hour-ish respawn timer so there really is no reason to be rude like that.

Solo'd one of these just now as a balance druid. Took Displacer Beast, Renewal, Faerie Swarm, Mighty Bash, Dream of Cenarius. I dont think what lvl 60 one you pick will matter much, but i assume most will go with the default Incarnation pick.

Displacer Beast: If he gets too close, pretend you're a mage and blink away or blink through him. This is also good if you're too close to him when he's doing a thunder crush and you can't tell which way it's going to go thanks to terrain and/or the bug where the graphic is facing the opposite direction of where the spell actually hits.

Renewal: You should have this anyway, but if you get feared or something and he smacks you a few times hit this to save yourself asap

Faerie Swarm: This is really important and imo the best choice, since typhoon has a 30 second cd, the slow from it only lasts for a few seconds, and terrain can cause your typhoon to not hit him. Keep the slow from this on him 100% of the time and between it and the occasional root he shouldn't be able to catch you.

Mighty Bash: This goes along with Renewal; if you get caught somehow, fear or otherwise, use this in combination with renewal to keep yourself alive and to get away from him. THIS CAN BE PARRIED, so be prepared for it not to work occasionally. May try one sometime with the disorient instead and see how that goes.

Dream of Cenarius: I feel like this is better than Natures Vigil because most of your dmg is going to be coming from moonfire and sunfire, and the heal return you get from those isn't really all that great. I also dont like Heart of the Wild for this because you shouldn't be getting hit enough to need to pop that and heal yourself. DoC gives you bonus dmg to moonfire and sunfire when you heal and bonus healing when you hit with wrath/starfire/starsurge, starsurge being the key here thanks to instant cast procs from moonfire and sunfire.

You'll want to use Entangling Roots on him when you can so you can get a second or two to stop and do some dmg with wrath/starfire/starsurge for toggling between solar and lunar eclipse to refresh your starfall. I usually throw it on him when he stops to cast something else. Interrupt his fear if you have to with Solar Beam but you should also be staying as far away from him as possible while being in range to dps him b/c at max range he can't hit you with his fear anyway. Kiting one of these and killing it as a moonkin will take FOREVER so be prepared to waste a bit of time if you're going to try this. I haven't tried one yet that summons bugs but I don't think they'll be much of a problem, just root the warbringer and aoe while he's stuck.

I managed to solo one of these (As a DK) but it takes a long time to do it. After serveral try's you can do it.
You need to remember:
- Horrific Visage NEEDS to be inturrepted, if this is combined with Vengeful Spirit, you could easily die.

- Thunder crush, move away from it. It hits hard and casted fast so always be aware.

- Scarab Swarm, kill these Asap, they hit hard but have low HP.

-Meteor Shower, move away from them, it can be hard to judge but I find if you run about you will miss them.

- Vengful Spirit, For this you will need to kite it around, there is no point trying to kill it as it hits very hard.

And as for Unstable Serum, I have yet to find one with it, but it will stun you.

So all around the boss is pretty easy when you get used to the tactics, I suggest bringing a friend with you, as it is hard.

Edit: Since there are plenty of comments on how to fight the mount now, here is some info about drops and tagging.

Days Spent Farming: Occasional on and off kills for 7 days (with the exception of day 7. We spent 9 hours non-stop spawn hopping that day.)

Total Number of Warbringers Killed: Can't tell for sure, but definitely anywhere from 35-45.

Number of Mount Drops: On day 3, we had an Amber Direhorn drop in Townlong (I let my friend have it). We had only killed 7 by this point. On day 4, we had a tag stolen in Kun-lai, which dropped the Slate. On day 6, I had another tag stolen in Jade Forest, and it dropped an Amber. Finally, on day 7, I got my Slate in Townlong.

Getting the Tag Tips: From what I have observed (and it makes sense) most AoE skills will probably rarely, if ever, get the claim first. What I do is spam any instant-cast skill on a keybind (Icy Touch as my DK, Judgment as my Paladin, and Holy Fire as my Disc Priest) in front of where he will spawn. I track/plan out the spawns, and can estimate when they will spawn within a 10 minute time frame to minimize button smashing time.

If it takes someone 10 minutes (as an example) to kill him, he usually spawns anywhere from 15-20 minutes after the body despawns. The quicker he is killed, the longer he has to spawn again after the body despawns (logic). If you go to a spawn point and there is no Warbringer body to be found, stay put and wait. Patience is key. He will be up soon most likely, so start spamming your keybind! It really takes no energy at all, and it is completely mindless, so I usually watch TV or clean out my bags while I spam lol. I have only ever lost a tag twice while using this method out of the 40 or so times (because, you know, there are other people who do this, and only one person can win).

TL;DR- The mount does drop. Be patient and stop complaining. If you really want it, follow the steps above and you will get it eventually. This is WoW, and if you can't stand RNG, this really isn't the game for you.

FYI, these have recently been hotfixed to be immune to snares, roots and stuns. They just became a whole lot harder to solo.

As in the following day 19/03/13 it appears that the spawn rate of those mobs has been significally increased. After farming them for a longer moment and doing clockwise lapses around Pandaria, it seemed as if their timer was suited around 30-40 minutes instead of an hour. It is also worth mentioning that the Warbringer's cast Horrific Visage can be no longer interrupted. However, as a blood DK you can simply cast Anti-Magic Shell on yourself to avoid getting feared. Perhaps it works the same with similiar abilities of other classes!

After a hotfix on 3/18/2013, as a DK tank, I found that these mobs will now keep aggro on whatever entity grabs intial aggro until it is either dead, un-summoned, or has an aggro-dump ability (e.g. - Feign Death). Also, they are definitely immune to Death Grip and Taunt, and their Fear is un-interruptable (but is dispellable).

While I was in-flight, our lock pulled knowing I would arrive and take over tanking. But once I got there, I used Taunt and DG, and I was NOT able to gain aggro from our Warlock's Void Walker until the Warbringer evade-bugged, and reset. Then, we had the Lock summon his Imp to ensure I would maintain aggro - even when I was feared (since I couldn't interrupt the fear anymore). In fact, the way the Warbringer basically feared and "pushed around" the VW, the Warbringer eventually moved to an area that caused him to evade bug. We weren't sure if it was a "leash" effect or simply a terrain bug.

I am not sure if they are immune to stuns and/or snares. However, I can confirm that the beetles they summon are still subject to snares.

I'm guessing, they made them immune to knock-backs, also. I'm sure this was done to prevent the griefing that has been happening to all of us. unfortunately, the griefing could have at least been partially mitigated had Blizzard made these mobs faction-tagged like the Sha of Anger and Galleon.

Should be still soloable by some classes besides selfhealing tanks after the hotfix.

Namely tried as a hunter without too much trouble. As to be expected concussive shot daze didn't work anymore, neither did silencing the fear. Luckily as a hunter you can use aspect of the cheetah, giving you increased movement speed and while the warbringer is casting any of his abilities he has to stand still giving you enough time to get some distance and outrange the fear.

DPS was about 30% less, so it took a little while longer. Assuming this, other ranged classes with some kind of +MS should be able to do the same.

Tried this morning as an ele shaman and it's no longer possible to keep slows(frost shock, frostband weapon/unleash elements) on warbringers. I'm sure tremor totem still works but staying away from these guys got a whole lot harder.

* Interrupt
* Most importantly, Taunt

Did they literally RE-hotfix this in the middle of the night? Fought 1 on edge of Jade Forest, guy was a BEAST! immune to CC, hit like a truck took 15 min to solo as prot.
But then...
(2nd hot fix?)
After he died, at 3:00 server, 2:00 central, another spawned, 75% less HP, I could CC him with shock wave, didn't use Meteor shower, died easy and free mount!
Very strange, it was like it was a regular old MoP rare but with the name Zandalari Warbringer, no challenge like it was 15min prior.

Soloable as a Brewmaster.

Since the patch they are much harder but still doable.

Here are the abilities and how to handle them:

Horrific Visage: This is no longer interruptable so you will take damage here and it is going to be a pain. Save your guard for this spell, it will soak most of the damage you take and you should be able to recover afterwards.
Meteor Shower: One of the easier skills to deal with. Don't stand where the meteors land and you'll be fine. They do hit relatively hard, about 100k each. Thankfully horrific visage will not be cast for the duration of this skill.
Scarab Swarm: AoE em down, they don't have much life and they hit for nothing. One or two spinning crane kicks and/or a keg smash will put them down.
Thunder Crush: Its a cone based spell. Just strafe key to victory. If you are feeling frisky, eat it for vengeance. Zen meditation will save you if you can't get out in time.
Vengeful Spirit: Another easy one. Just paralyze it. Xuen sometimes likes to attack it.
Unstable Serum: I have yet to encounter this in the wild.

Preferred Glyphs and Talents

Everything else is your own preference. These are nearly mandatory.

Some other tips:

Before the fight throw down three healing spheres. These are your oh *!@# heals in case something goes wrong. You will want to be glyphed for them to last longer as this fight will take around 8 minutes in decent gear.

At the pull, get shuffle up and keep it up. This will keep you from getting destroyed. once you have taken about 10% damage use Chi Wave and Expel Harm. You will most likely use these on CD as the damage is quite heavy.

You will be tempted to use guard to increase your self healing. Don't. This will get you killed if the warbringer has Horrific Visage. Use it as the warbringer casts the fear for maximum survivability. If the warbringer does not have the fear, use it when healing. It's a massive healing buff while its up.

Since staggering damage does not remove the damage, purify it if you get near 9000 damage per tick. This will trigger Healing Elixir when done so try to do it when you are harmed if its up.

It will take a bit to solo and you will die a once or twice getting the hang of it.

Just thought I would say that these CAN still be soloed as of this post date by hunters. This is how I do it as a 502 BM hunter. This is after the hotfix that made Warbringers immune to snares/stuns/taunts, etc.

Pet used: Spirit Beast in tanking spec (I would say Spirit Mend is almost required for emergencies, keep it on auto-cast!) Tank spec is a must for Last Stand.(While active, Mend Pet will heal your pet more!)
Glyphs used: Glyph of Animal Bond helps a good bit, Glyph of Mending is absolutely necessary. Your third glyph slot is your choice.
Talents used: Anything goes here, but Spirit Bond is extremely useful and allows you to recover from mistakes or even hold nearby mobs without having to worry about them killing you.

Put your pet on passive. This will prevent it from trying to attack Vengeful Spirits. Take growl off of auto-cast, I find it creates a strange bug that flips a lot of aggro back on to you. Also, take Thunderstomp off auto-cast. Your pet will generate slightly less aggro, but this will also prevent it from pulling Spirits onto itself.

Your main concern here is making sure you keep Mend Pet on at all times. Do not become lazy with this. It has a 10 second duration, so you will be casting this a lot. Misdirect to your pet to start off with and use Kill Command to make your pet attack the Warbringer. If you keep your pet on passive, it will continue to attack the Warbringer and NEVER switch targets, even after the Warbringer is dead.

Throughout this encounter, you will need to fight for your pet to keep aggro. Do this by misdirecting often, and Feign Death when you can. NEVER feign if a Spirit is up! If your pet happens to die, Disengage and immediately begin reviving it. When it is alive again, use Kill Command, Feign Death, and Mend Pet in that order, then resume your rotation. At this point you WILL need to help your pet re-establish aggro.

On to Warbringer abilities!

Thunder Crush is likely the least threatening ability to you for this entire fight, as long as you don't get hit by it.
Scarab Swarm is a fairly annoying ability to deal with. The scarabs aren't deadly to you, but you should make sure to AoE them down as soon as you can. Avoid using Multi-Shot if a Vengeful Spirit is nearby to avoid activating Beast Cleave
Horrific Visage If the Warbringer you are fighting has this ability, always save Bestial Wrath to break the fear on your pet. If it's on cooldown, use Readiness. If that is on cooldown too, you will have to watch your pet's health and activate Last Stand if needed. You will notice your pet takes more damage while feared because it is unable to mitigate the damage.
Vengeful Spirit can be a very deadly ability if not handled correctly. Two Arcane Shots and the aggro from healing your pet should keep it focused on you. You have to make sure these don't hit your pet at all.
Meteor Shower is the deadliest ability a Warbringer can have for this solo fight. It's a waste of time and energy to try and maneuver your pet away from all the meteors, so let it eat them. If it's health drops to ~25%, you will want to activate Last Stand.

Item level should not matter too much. Keep in mind though, your ability to heal your pet is dependent on how much health it has, which increases as your health increases, which is mainly dependent on your gear. Good luck with your mount drop! I hope this comment helps you!

Even though the warbringer was "fixed" so it can no longer be snared, this is still soloable by elemental shaman. Glyph SWG and Unleashed Lightning. Spec into Earthgrab, Totemic Restoration, Healing Tide, and Unleashed Fury. Make sure you have run speed enchanted on your boots. After that it's just a matter of finding a clear kiting path, preferably a road. Adds will reset if you root them and keep moving but they can daze you and ruin a good run.

Keep Flame Shock up, keep Unleash Elements on cooldown, use Earth Shock at 7 stacks of Fulmination, and spam Lightning Bolt. Use SWG + Ascendance to speed things along. Drop Earthgrab if scarabs get too close. If you use it on cooldown the scarabs should never reach you. Drop Tremor Totem if he fears you and immediately destroy it with Totemic Recall so the cooldown resets to 32 seconds. I recommend wearing a PVP trinket so you can break the fear if for some reason TT isn't up in time. If you can't break the fear there's a very strong chance that either you'll die or he'll reset. Meteor Shower, Thunder Crush, and Vengeful Spirit should be non-issues if you're staying out of range.

Don't be afraid to Ghost Wolf away if he starts getting close. If he's about to whack you, use a DR cooldown, Ghost Wolf away, and drop a healing totem. Just remember to turn around and hit him with a shock so he doesn't reset. Use his casts as an opportunity to get to max range.

Here's an update for those who like to solo stuff!

I just soloed this guy 3/27/2013 at 9:27pm Central Time.

I did it on a Beast Mastery Hunter which is probably about the only hunter spec you can do it with since there are some extremely valuable components to that spec for this specific npc.

All I did was just kite the guy and use basic attacks. I had to keep my pet alive for the essential spells Bestial Wrath and my spirit beast's Spirit Mend ability to work which took some time to figure out but anyway, I managed to down the guy by myself, no healers, and it took around 15 min.

Update: I have soloed this for a third time and it took me about 11 mins this time with an average ilvl of 485 and all of it pvp gear chanted and gemmed for pvp too.

I can confirm that this is SOLOABLE as a blood DK

Preparing for the battle:
Kill all adds close to him, including the pterrorwing, since kiting is important to solo it successfully, also he may fear you into any mobs close to him.

If there are no other players near, you can try too see how far away he will reset, so that you know how far you can kite him.

a quick guide of how to negate the warbringers abilitys:
Horrific mask:
The Warbringer fears you for a long time, be sure to be close to full hp and if u want too u can pop a CD before, attempt to get a bit of space between you and the warbringer, since that will cause him to have to run to you before he can deal damage.
Be sure to make use of death strike afterwards since it will heal u massively

Spawn Vengeful Spirit:
be sure to kite this

Meteor Shower:
As soon as you see the Warbringer cast this, you should attempt to get some space between you and the Warbringer since it will cause you to not be hit by it.
However you cannot stay out of meteor shower forever, so once it reaches you, pop anit-magic shell

Aoe thing:
avoid it if you accidentally get hit, use death strike immediately for large heal

Very easily soloable for a warlock as Destruction. a few tips...

Use GoSup for the void lord, turn off his taunt.
Pick up Soul Link, make sure its always on.
Keep your range so you don't have to worry about the meteors, and always keep RoF on the boss. You want to do this for if he summons a spirit it chases after you instead of meleeing your pet for a crap ton of dmg (they move slow super easy to kite) than just use EmberTap to keep yourself and pet up ...its really easy enjoy the loot fellow locks!

The vengeful spirits CAN be incapacitated, as I've experienced with paralysis, making them a lot easier to solo, so I'd suggest making a macro like mine;

For those craving warlocks out there this can still be soloed post-cc nerf. The fight is very easy as Destro with good gear but can also be done as Afflic with pretty much any gear. Took me several pulls to get the tac spot on for Afflic but with a little patience and careful usage of Soul Shards its still doable.

Pre-Enounter Tips
1) Use GoSup and Soul Leech Talents.
2) Use Glyph of Demon Training (and Glyph of Curse of Exhaustion as Affliction).
3) Use Voidlord to tank.

Overview
The Warbringer has 21M hp. Each Warbringer will spawn with 4-5 buffs which will each grant him a specific ability. All of these can easily be countered (and the scarab one is very important for Affliction soloing).

Buff Abilites
Thunder Crush: Easiest of all the abilities to deal with. Its a frontal cone that your pet shrugs off so just don't be in front of the Warbringer for you to avoid it.

Meteor Shower: Second easiest of all the abilities. Just a 10 second shower of meteors. Just move from where they are about to land to avoid them.

Horrific Visage: Fear cast on his current target (your Voidlord). Nothing special to worry about, however do be careful that your pet doesn't pull 1) the Warscouts if they're up or 2) the Pterodactyl if its there.

Vengeful Spirit: These hit hard, and when I say hard, I mean freight train hard. 200k+ a hit. You NEED them to aggro onto you so you can kite them (made easier as Affliction using CoEx). If for some reason they get aggro on your Voidlord you have to get him out of there or theres a good chance he'll die. Make sure your Voidlord is on passive and has taunt off before the fight so that when your send him to attack the Warbringer he will stay on him and him alone for the rest of the encounter.

Scarab Swarm: Spawns like 10 scarabs will deal minor melee damage. These are you primary source of Soul Shard regeneration for Affliction. A SoC will take them all to low health, then you can Drain Soul when needed to gain all 4 shards back. If you don't have the scarab ability you can pull surrounding mobs to gain souls that way. As a last resort, you can also simply Drain Soul the Warbringer to gain shards. As Destro, Rain of Fire destroys them all pretty fast.

Keeping your pet alive
The Warbringer hits very hard on your Voidlord. 60k+ normal melee, 120k+ crits.. If you're pet dies its game over. Even if you summon a new one it becomes very difficult for your Voidlord to permanently re-establish aggro due to taunt immunity and you will eventually just be killed by the him. Defeating this encounter is all about Soul Shard management in order to keep your pet alive. As long as you have Soul Shards, you're Voidlord won't die. In general, when your pet reaches about half health you should always Soulburn: Health Funnel regardless of what you're doing. This empowered health funnel instantly heals your pet for 36% of its health (and can crit) and also reduces damage taken by 30% for 10 seconds. You can also use it at any other time you wish to heal your pet. Don't be too conservative when it comes to heals. The majority of your Soul Shards will be going towards Soulburn: Health Funnel so don't waste them pointlessly. You will also need to gain as many Soul Shards throughout the encounter as possible to keep supplies up by Drain Souling scarabs etc.

Damage
Simply put, don't let CoE, UA, Corrup or Agony ever fall off. Even if you're busy dealing with the buff abilities or healing your pet, these DoTs ensure the Warbringer's health is always going down. In terms of priorities however, dealing damage is bottom after ensuring pet survival and dealing with the buff abilities. Keep up the damage and use Dark Soul/ Doomguard on Cooldown and he will eventually die.

Summary
Use Voidlord to tank. Make sure he is on passive and has taunt off when you send him in to avoid him getting aggro on spirits. Always heal him using Soulburn: Health funnel when needed. Don't waste Soul Shards on anything else. When the scarabs spawn, SoC and use Drain Soul to replenish shards. Fel Flame the spirit when it appears and stick a Curse of Exhaustion on it to kite it. Keep DoTs up on Warbringer always and use Malefic Grasp when nothing else to do for more damage. Keep it up and he'll eventually die.

Summary
This fight is exceptionally easy as Destro and good gear. Take the Soul Link talent and use Voidlord to tank. Make sure he is on passive and has taunt off when you send him in to avoid him getting aggro on spirits. Then all you do is use Ember Tap to heal yourself/your pet. Keep Rain of Fire up to get aggro of the spirit and kill the scarabs and simply kite the spirit whilst dpsing.

Been killing these guys without a dedicated healer or a tank, post-cc nerf. We have three people - a rogue, a hunter, and me, a balance druid. The rogue kites and we dps, watching our threat so that we don't pull aggro off him. We AoE the scarabs, I root the Spirits so they're out of the way and toss out offheals in case either of them get hit by anything, and kills generally take 2-3 minutes. Not the most ideal strategy, but it's what we have and it works. We've probably got 40ish kills now, and had two Slates and an Amber drop so far.

Still pretty well soloable by the rogue post nerf with the Burst of speed talent and Shuriken toss.The only problem is the fear, but it can be immuned with CoS or removed by the Alliance/Horde Insignia of Conquering or racials(I dont recommend regular pvp trinkets because of the 2min cd, its not enough.It is easy obtainable nowadays, rare dropping this allmost allways standing untouched), they both had a 1min cd.For the worst case scenario when both are on cd you can use Smoke bomb or out-los the fear cast(30yards).Simply kite ignoring the scarabs and spirits, each pack will despawn after some time.

Was able to easily solo all of the warbringers as a 520 ilvl fire mage. If they have Horrific Visage, I made sure I had a pvp escape trinket on. Also, spec'd into blazing speed. Combination of blazing speed and blink helped me keep enough distance on the warbringer while kiting/scorching. Took 4-5 minutes per warbringer.

Thought it wouldn't be possible since they can't be stunned anymore, but it was pretty easy.

A very easy strategy for Warlocks solo'ing these guys:

Picking the talent combination of Soul Leech and Soul Link not only doubles the potency of Soul Leech, but also reduces the spike damage making it almost trivial.

I choice destro as spec for the self heals. Use your Voidlord to tank but make sure to turn his taunt off (Threatening Presence ON, however). This is to prevent the Voidlord from taunting the Vengeful Spirit.

As for rotation, use your basic destro rotation. Make sure to have Rain of Fire up when the Vengeful Spirit spawns, so it goes for you as soon as it's spawned. It is easy to avoid, but it's a hassle to keep moving your pet if he has agro. Because you've disabled your pet taunt, he'll also leave the Spirit alone.

You'll be spending most of your Embers on . You can use the glyph to increase the healing a bit, but I prefer not to, so I can chain cast it when i'm going low on hp. Have a Healthstone ready when needed.

The fight will take a while but is generally very easy using this tactic. I was able to pull this off pretty easily with itemlevel 498.

Seems to be the most common Warbringer Direhorn color.. numerous days i've farmed the mount only to see the Warbringer riding The Slate pattern Direhorn three or more times a circuit. Its quite discouraging, especially if you already have said mount.

Solo farmed almost 45 on my Blood DK, teamed yesterday with someone & the mount dropped but as always I lost the roll :)... Yesterday I killed around 20 & none dropped, the drop rate is horrible not even near 2%

Fear is definitely not interrupt-able on live, but a handy tip for those forced to kite solo (especially without heals): if you're lucky enough to get one of these in the Dread Wastes, use the terrain and Speed King's double jump from the Ka'roz the Locust.

This is fairly easy as a Guardian Druid in 500+ gear. Whatever talents you choose are not exceptionally important as I have killed several with whatever I was last using for raid tanking. Feline Swiftness is nice for moving further away from the spirits a bit quicker. Natures Vigil and Heart of the Wild are ok for healing up a bit of the damage you will take but for the most part I just use Frenzied Regen and Cenarion Ward.

If the Warbringer has Horrific Visage I just soak the damage and heal it up afterwards tho you can usually time it to use Barkskin and Cenarion Ward so it doesn't hurt as bad.
Or as others have stated, get that trinket (I don't have it so I just soak the damage).

The big thing I have learned and this goes for any tank specced class is that Meteor Shower does NOT seem to hit you if you are standing pretty much on top of the Warbringer.
Whenever I have one that casts that I just move in a little bit closer to him and continue dpsing my heart out. It saves all that running around trying to avoid shadows and lets you get him down just that much faster.

One other thing to note for Bears specifically is if you are having rage issues using FR or Savage Defense then make sure you are using Berserk for Scarab Swarm, all your crits from hitting the scarabs equal more rage to help ya heal up and dodge a bit more. I try to only use it when scarabs are up (unless the mob doesn't have the ability) as it is a rage boost more than using it on the Warbringer alone.

On average it takes about 7-10 minutes to down one solo depending on how much you have to kite the Spirits or get feared around.

warlock can still solo them even with the immunity to snare effect; the tact is very simple:
use the voidwalkver as tank, and put a demonic gateway at it's max range; the demonic gateway will reset the aggro, so just use the void as tank, if he dies summon another one and use the gateway, it will reset the aggro and u can keep dps. with my warlock i pushed around 100k dps and was able to kill them in 3-4 minutes

Regardless if your class can solo or not, here is a little factoid that I believe to be true. When the Warbringer spawns, so does his loot... So don't take the drop tables as 100% gospel. The drop rate for the mount is supposedly 5%, from data collected. But since you may not be able to kill every one that spawns.... then you mileage will vary.

If you want this mount, and have a couple hours on your hands this way of farming can generate a fairly good amount of kills on Warbringers and will hopefully land you a mount.

Ok, i've farmed over 70-100 of Warbringers using a CROSS REALM PARTY METHOD

Using an external website, or even your friends list if you know the right people, create a group of 3-5 people of all different realms. When you create a party everyone moves to your realm, AND vice-versa, so you can potentially farm 3-5 Warbringers per single spot on multiple realms(please note this doesn't guarantee they aren't killed on the other servers)

EXAMPLE:

You want to farm Warbingers, so you create a party of 5 people from different realms to farm them.

Each player flies to the same position in the party. If the current realm Warbingers is dead, then all players would leave party, to be sent back to there realms so they can check if theirs is alive. If the warbingers is alive on that players realm, THAT PLAYER MUST BE THE ONE inviting the party back so that everyone will be on there realm for the kill.

What this does for you, is allows you to potentially kill 20 Warbingers per hour, with each fight lasting a few minutes + Flight time, you can literally NON-STOP FARM these guys till you receive your mounts.

Key Notes:

NOTE: There can not be more than 2 people from the same realm. If there are 3 of you from the same realm, it will always transfer the other players to your realm regardless of who is party leader.

NOTE: Loot IS shared cross realm, so for those of you who will say that another realms player will be ineligible for the mount if it dropped, YOU'RE WRONG!

If your pet dies, deterrence, revive pet, feign death - disengage if needed. Bestial wrath breaks fear.

Didn't use a spirit beast because I'd lose the 5% crit buff but my pet survived fine

as a 511ilvl blood dk these are fairly easy to solo. mostly standing around not much kiting unless he can summon Vengeful Spirit then there is some kiting involved. time Lichborne and Anti-Magic Shell to counter the Horrific Visage, AoE the Scarab Swarm and move out of the Thunder Crush and Meteor Shower. following these steps and you should have no problems downing this guy. hope this helps for all those blood DKs out there.

A comment regarding how to separate the mobs (which Warbringer drops which mount). I was looking at eye color until I noticed a much easier feature... chair color:

Amber has a yellow chair
Slate has a red chair
Jade has a green chair.

Much easier than flying up next to them to check their eyes (or guessing in Dread Wastes because everything is colored weird)

Best friends for DKs. Completely soloable!

Ive gotten about 20 blood soaked bandages and no mount lol 3% vs 5% gotta love rng!

Edit: For a super easy solo in Dread Wastes, use your mind control on a Dreadsworn at the very TOP of the map and walk your way back down(he will disappear if you go too far ahead of him). Also, in Krasarang Wilds, if you get the Chi-ji companion Buff from killing the captured Elite, this can help as well.

Though for me as a DK, Control Undead (on terrace of gurthan spirits) + AOD + Minion + Dreadsworn + Chi-ji Buff took me less than 30 seconds to drop this particular warbringer. The mind control on the dreadsworn is the only "buff spell" you cannot use outside of DW as its part of the Klaxxi rep progression. Happy Hunting!

The most irritating thing about this is that almost ever 1 out of 3 times it will randomly reset while I'm soloing it, the amount of times I have brought it down to 1 million then suddenly it has full health again.

I can confirm as of 1/9/14 that these are soloable easily by Discipline Priests. I am 545 ilvl, but have been soloing them since around 530 and I think you could do it with a bit lower provided you have enough spirit to not go oom while doing atonement on the boss. Watch the opposite faction stand there waiting for you to die -- and then get confused and upset when you don't!

Talents you should take:
Mindbender -- to maintain mana
Angelic feathers -- to aid in kiting the boss (note: make sure you kite the boss fast if his Vengeful Spirit is out and you are trying to use a mindbender. The mindbender will stay on the boss's butt, and the Vengeful Spirit will chase your mindbender and oneshot it if it gets too close. Hence, you want to quickly make the boss chase you away from the slow-moving Spirit).
Divine Insight -- to keep yourself shielded while running and atoning
Divine Star -- to kill the Scarabs instantly and do some decent damage to the boss

You MIGHT want Angelic Bulwark in case something goes wrong (I have had them suddenly get a vicious 200k+ crit on me through my shield) but I do fine without.

I am also using the Glyph of Penance, Inner Fire and Inner Sanctum, though you probably don't need Inner Sanctum.

Make sure to Fear Ward yourself! I am a Forsaken with a +stam PvP trinket to help me with this, so I get 3 fear dispels. If even that is not enough, put a fresh shield on yourself and pop Pain Suppression before his fear goes off.

In the event that your health gets very low unexpectedly, you can sacrifice your Mindbender to give yourself a chance to heal -- just pop it out, shield it and fade. Most disc priests probably know this trick, but I just thought I'd put it out there.

Good luck - I'm farming these until I get a mount to show for my efforts, and I still haven't gotten one to date.

Do it from ranged, of course.

Using Shuriken Toss, Deadly Throw, Burst of Speed for the "tank" and Tricks of the Trade for the "DPS", we buzzed around the spawn area pelting him with shurikens. Surprisingly effective for keeping us alive!

If you have one good friend ('good' so as to avoid any arguments over who gets what, when) and the both of you are geared in full timeless isle 496's or better and get access to a relatively dead server, farming these guys can be easy, fun, and most importantly, very profitable. As a 492 Blood DK in full Timeless/JP gear with an ilvl 463 heroic weapon and an ilvl 505 Surv Hunter friend, we were able to relatively easily clear each one (certain ability combinations are brutal. ex; fear into meteors... /shudder) and do laps around the continent with no pauses between kills; as soon as we downed and looted one, we would mount up and fly to the next, who was alive and waiting for us.

20 kills later, we each had a direhorn mount (funnily enough, we each got the exact one we wanted most!) and stacks upon stacks upon stacks upon stacks of crafting materials from the bags, not to mention enough insignia to get each alt from neutral or friendly to exalted with the reputation associated to their crafting profession (which was especially helpful to my tailor, who had enough mats already to make 4 Illusionary Bags!).

TL:DR -
1) Acquire friend. 2) Kill Warbringers. 3) ? 4) Profit.

As a ilvl 524 Guardian Druid I find these soloable with relative ease.

Just follow normal rotation, you shouldn't drop below 80% hp unless you're unlucky with placement on Thunder Crush straight out of a Horrific Visage or if a Meteor Shower lands on you, but I found a very good way of dealing with the Vengeful Spirit is to make one of your talents Mass Entanglement and use it as soon as the spirit is up. This roots it for roughly the time it actually exists and can allow you to move the warbringer away a little bit to avoid releasing it early.

Just watch out the fear doesn't evade the boss, just luck on the path you take really.

I can easily solo these as a 535 WW monk.The key is to either get Dampen Harm or Healing Elixirs, and kite them when they meteor/spirit or you need heals. If your under half and they crit though, you'll probably die.

Charred Glyph can also be helpful as you can't take damage from their 150k melee swings when your using FoF.

If your having problems soloing these things, camp the one in Dread Wastes so you can utilize your Paragon buffs.

How to:
I recommend killing the terrorwing first because it can be annoying when you aggro it when feared.
You want to use . It will be slower to kill but this will help you keep alive.
In the start pop all your CDs and hit him as hard as possible. Keep DPSing the boss, and focus on keep your health full using and Flash of Light.

Boss will pop certain abilities throughout the fight, so you will want to manage those.

Thunder Crush : Don't get hit. It won't kill you if you are topped though.
Meteor Shower : Same as above. GTFO
Scarab Swarm : AoE. Killing them will refresh your Inquisition if you are glyphed.
Vengeful Spirit : When it spawns kite them around. It cannot be CCed but stuns work, so use whenever you can.
Horrific Visage : Since paladins don't have short fear breaker (unless you are using pvp trinket), this one is the most difficult one to handle.

This ability will come every ~45 sec or so. You can minimize the damage by alternating your cooldowns whenever this ability comes. The way I did it was (remember that you have to pop them BEFORE you are feared):

First one : Divine Shield
Second one : + Divine Protection
Third one : Blessing of Protection
Fourth one : + Divine Protection
Fifth one : Blessing of Protection
Sixth one : + Divine Protection
After that you will have to soak every other one.

In short, don't get killed (or reset, which is rather really common) and the boss will eventually die. I didn't try using pvp trinkets to break fear but it might work too.

Easily soloed as 539 BM hunter. Had terrorpane as pet in Tenacity spec.

Send pet in, constantly md and mend pet. Glyph of Mending, Glyph of Mend Pet and Glyph of Misdirection I found very useful.

Keep close to Warbringer and let the ghost aggro onto yourself, and just kite it around. A few times the ghost didn't aggro onto me, so I used Move Pet to take it 40 yards or so away and it then either aggros onto you, or it depspawns whilst moving to where you've moved the pet too.

Easily burn it down, I was doing about 100k dps. Barrage is a very useful attack for the scarab things that come out, and just move to get away from the meteor shower.

First kill (with a friend showing me the ropes), got me the Amber Direhorn mount! I don't think I'll be as lucky with the other two!

These guys are soloable by Guardian Druids. I have ilvl 506 gear. Here's what did and didn't work for me:

Normally I'd keep Savage Defense up as much as possible, but the rage cost was hard to upkeep when I was taking a load of damage and had to use Frenzied Regeneration to heal. After my first few fights, I started just using Frenzied Regen and saving up rage for heals.

I have enough health to eat the Thunder Crush attack. It does between 120-150k damage, but it adds to your Vengeance, which I found useful for both self-heals and damage done.

Kite around, don't get hit by the spirits (ouch!), and use Barkskin when he fears you. It's usable while feared.

I found the talent Incarnation very useful when I needed to spam Mangle to generate rage so I could build up a self-heal. Heart of the Wild, my level 90 talent, was VERY helpful for the panic situations when I needed to spam heals on myself and didn't have time to generate rage.

A last note: when he casts Meteor Shower, if you stand on top of him and don't kite him away from where he started the cast, you won't get hit 95% of the time.

After killing 10ish Warbringer as a 545+ Boomkin with legendary, here is my strategy. I bought the remove cc trinket, because the horrific visage's 7sec fear is just way too long. I took incarnation, Nature's vigil.
Start fight, starfall - incarnation + drum of rage + nature's vigil - wrath - dot - then starsurge all day and apply starfall when it finishes. Usually this get warbringer to 60% or less. Then just kite, use your trinket for the first fear, then second one use bear form and barkskin. The trinket cd should be back on the third fear. Hope this helps.

Too easy as a hunter, even without tank pet you just pull the horrific visage ghost off pet the instant it spawns, and pet will be fine. The ghost despawns before it reaches you. Enjoy soloing hunters!

Best way to solo these as a rogue is as follows:
1. Use opener of choice (not cheapshot)
2. Evasion
3. Blow everything you have, all CD's pot and drums if you have them
4. When evasion wears off use Combat Readiness
5. When CR wears off or you start taking too much damage, run away
6. Burst of speed + Shuriken until CD's are up
Repeat steps 2 - 6

You'll obviously need Combat Readiness, Burst of speed ans shuriken toss talents, and I like glyph of evasion for the extra dps time. Try to kite in a large circle, and watch out for enemy players if you're on a PvP realm.

Thunder Crush, Vengeful spirit, and Meteor swarm you'll avoid by kiting and never being close to him.
Scarabs are easily AoE'ed down, if you have your legendary cloak you probably wont even need to think about it.
The only ability to watch out for is Horrific Visage, but you can Cloak of Shadows it before he finishes casting and you'll be immune. CoS is down you can use Smoke Bomb, trinket out (or use human racial), or pop evasion before it hits and you should be fine.

These guys are easy mode on my blood DK. Only problem i have is when they fear me out of the battle area and the reset. personally its a headache to have to fight the same guy 3 or four times to kill him because of this. Besides that they only have a few other abilities and you can tell what they will do before pull. They have a buff that grants them attacks like , Horrific vision-before said fear, Vengeful spirit-a summoned ally for the warbringer that hits like a truck, meteor storm-summons meteors that do around 100k each, thundering stomp- easily avoided by stepping behind the thing. again any tank that can heal wont have a problem with these, Although i would recommend bringing a dps friend along so the fight doesnt take 10 minutes.

Zandalari Wabringer can be killed solo by any class. You can easily farm 3 rare mounts and add them to your collection!
To cover all fears you can use:
1) PvP Trinket
2) Cloack of Shadow
3) Smoke Bomb

Some Tactics for soloing these as a hunter:
You can either solo these mobs with Pet Tanking or Kiting

For kiting you can be any spec, you just need to Aspect of the Cheetah periodically to move further away and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Chimera Talent so you can Disengage much more.
Some tips when kiting:
-When the Warbringer casts fears: either outrange it or as a Human / Undead: WotF or Trinket it, or Feign death it!
-When the Warbringer summons scarabs, lay down a Ice trap and drag them through it.
Other than that keep Taunt of your pet and you should be doing this easy.
-Good glyphs for this are: Glyph of Disengage and Glyph of Liberation.
-(Recommended tactic when you're soloing in wide areas, such as: Jade Forest, Townlong Steppes and Krasarang Wilds.)

But when you're doing this with Pet Tanking, you want to have a Scarab / Turtle pet in Tenacity specilization, prefferably Beast Mastery specilization yourself, to help keep threath with pet and Bestial Wrath to get your pet out of Fear.

-REALLY recommended glyph for this tactic is Glyph of Misdirection and other useful Glyphs are Glyph of Mending and Glyph of Animal Bond.(I suggest you also Macro Misdirection on your pet with Mend Pet when doing this.)
-(Recommended tactic when you're soloing in Tight areas with lots of mobs, such as: Kun-lai Summit, Dread Wastes.)

Relatively-easy as a mage.Go fire spec and use ice barrier and invocation.You may wanna use Incanter's ward if u are low-geared.Start with a pre-cast pyroblast followed by time warp and images.Use images to do your burst combo with PoM and alter time.After you've done it,simply kite around using scorch and pyro procs,and keeping ice barrier as much as you can.

Soloed as Arms Warrior iLevel 548.
I found Charred Glyph very useful. The strategy is to use every mob you can to proc Victory Rush. When he summons the scarabs, pop and enjoy the healing. When there are no scarabs, move around and taunt mobs. Pay attention to sometimes hit the Warbringer to avoid the reset. When your health drops, use defensive cooldowns.
It's important to remove the dps legendary cloack (I used the tank legendary one because I didn't have nothing better), because a proc with the scarabs can nullify tons of healing.

This method may not be optimal, but I had fun :D

So, me and my friend decided to camp these guys for the mounts. Everyone knows camping is way more fun with a friend, right? :P

Anyway, we began our camping on a late sunday evening. So the realm wouldn't be as populated= less competition.

We started to kill 1 or 2 without a drop, the next one surely enough dropped one of the mounts, we both rolled on it and my friend won it but decided to pass it on to me.

Some warbringers later, second drop(!) which I also got passed on.

And yes, you guessed; third drop later on. ALL different colors.

in just one single night.

Best camping experience ever. So; don't give up and happy camping!

As of Patch 6.0.2 Warbringers are much harder to solo kill for some lvl 90 classes .
as a ilvl 556 BM hunter with a spirit beast,i was unable to keep my pet up with mend pet and therefore the pet would die.
should be easier once you get some WOD gear .

6.0.2: Can be soloed by a demo warlock, ilvl 562, level 90, with Visions of Insanity (+57 all stats) and Blessing of Forgotten Kings (+4% all stats, drums, left over from doing green fire quest 60 ilvl ago). I did not use Drums of Rage. This is post demo nerf (20% reduced damage on all of our damaging skills).

I would rate this a 6 out of 10 for difficulty (0 being laughably easy, 10 being RNG dependent or requiring a party). It's not mindless but it's not the most stressful thing out there.

Talents: Soul Leech, Mortal Coil, Soul Link, Grimoire of Supremacy, Archimonde's Darkness. (2/2/1//2/1/1)

Glyphs: Demon Hunting, Health Stone, Siphon Life

Set your Wrathguard to passive and command him to attack the Warbringer. Passive is imperative because Assist will cause him to attack anything you deal damage to, even if it's only for a moment. The same applies to Defensive.

Vengeful Spirit: Toss a Corruption or Doom on it, preferably Corruption because it seems to tick quicker. Or a Mortal Coil. You need to pull quick threat on it and then just avoid getting hit by it. It will 2-3 shot your Wrathguard.

You will need to occasionally channel Health Funnel. Glyphed Health Funnel does not do enough healing even after factoring in the extra Soul Link and Soul Leech healing and absorption from you being able to pump out more damage.

Do not DPS unless your Wrathguard is above 90% HP. It's very easy for him to get bursted down, especially during Meteor Shower or Horrific Visage (Fear). This does mean you'll spend half your time channeling Health Funnel. This also means that your health will be low (hence Mortal Coil and Glyph of Health Stone). Keep both Corruption and Doom up. They are serious, non-insignificant sources of both damage and healing/absorption. The same applies to Hand of Gul'dan. Don't bother saving a charge for Scarabs and instead use your Wrathguard's Wrathstorm to aoe them down.

Prior to the patch I had difficulty soloing it (ilvl 560, destro). I had to use the now defunct Lilypad to give myself Rejuv through Symbiosis and keep that up on my Voidlord on top of channeling Health Funnel from time to time. I doubt it's gotten any easier, or at least as "easy" as it is to solo as Demo currently. I have had minimal to moderate gear changes since then (LFR KTT, Heroic Heirloom Staff, 4pc mixed between LFR, Normal, Heroicx2, 550 ilvl UBRS ring).

My advice for anyone farming these mounts=get Rarity addon.If you are in a "target lock-fire! "mood,a simple mouseover will reveal what kind of direhorn could drop from each warbringer and if you already got it.This way you could focus on killing just the targets you need,and let the others live for the good of fellow farmers ;)

Some facts;

There are 5 possible spawn points in Pandaria, and each spawn spot has a re-spawn timer of 30 to 60 minutes. Each spawn spot is independent of the others. There can be more than 1 up at once, all 5 can be up at once (I have killed 6 in a row, flying from one spot to the next, straight after a server restart, able to get 6 due to kind crz).

Here are the figures over a month of camping all five possible spawn points, checking to see whether different spots favour different Warbringers.

In Jade Forest, 47 kills; 17 Slate, 17 Amber, 13 Jade.
Dread Wastes, 40 kills; 14 Slate, 11 Amber, 15 Jade.
Townlong Steppes, 43 kills; 14 Slate, 13 Amber, 16 Jade.
Kun-Lai, 50 kills; 18 Slate, 12 Amber, 20 Jade.

Pretty even so far, absolutely.... But here it is,

Krasarang Wilds, 25 kills; 25 Slate, 0 Amber, 0 Jade.

I have 205 total kills, with 88 of them being slate.
(63 slate, 53 amber, 64 jade - taking out Krasarang)

The last mount for me to get was Jade, when it dropped I already had had 7 Slate mounts and 2 Amber mounts.

Can anyone else confirm this in Krasarang Wilds, or have I just had amazingly bad RNG?

With CRZ making this an almost unbearable camp, I decided to give realm-hopping a try. Tonight I began at the spawn point in Kun Lai Summit, and even though there were other players there, I was using the premade group finder to just pop into garrison groups that people made for quests/vendors, or quick-forming groups that wouldn't last long, like groups for Doomroller or Vengeance, where my being there or not was of little consequence to other players.

After a couple of realms with no luck, I ended up snagging a Warbringer as it spawned on my own realm, and surprisingly got the Jade Direhorn mount. (I found that most of the spawns I found here, regardless of what realm I was on, would be on the Jade mount)

After a bit of a break, I decided to hit up Townlong Steppes instead, and I camped for much longer. I noticed that there would be no Warbringers on a lot of realms, and then suddenly I would run into a streak of them in the realms I was popping into. Here, I didn't get a mount, but I found that I was almost exclusively seeing Amber-mounted Warbringers (being that it's the only colour I have left to obtain, I will be returning here to see if that continues to hold true, or if RNG will screw me over another day!)

Only once did I kill a Warbringer and have the group disbanded on me before I could finish looting. Thankfully, I had seen that a mount had not dropped in the loot window, but I was ported back to my own realm before I could finish looting, and none of it ended up in my bags. I have no idea if I would get that loot back or not (i.e. by mail), but I opened a ticket just to see if a GM would return it, or simply tell me I'm S.O.L.

In short, I have found realm-hopping to be by far the fastest and easiest way to farm Warbringers in WoD, but out of courtesy for others making groups, I avoided groups that were sincerely looking for help with quests/raids/etc. I ended up meeting a lot of other players doing likewise, and had a great time chatting with people while we all scoured for the elusive Warbringers.

Update: I returned to the Townlong Steppes spawn point later today and it was a nice blend of all colours of Warbringers, not just the Amber. Also, a GM was able to mail me the items I was missing after a group was disbanded and I was ported to my own realm before looting, which is a nice safety net to know is there just in case.

This might sound odd, but I farm this the same way I would farm Doomroller, Terrorfist, Deathtalon and / or Vengeance. I stand at the warbringer spawn spot and wait for a doom, terror, death or veng group to open and hop into that group asap.. that way you can make sure that there's no one hopping in the same groups as you are and since you see the groups first you're most likely the first one to join as well.

Does that make any sense? Works well for me. :) In 100 tries I only got one mount though. :(

I was totally miss out Panda expansion, so my farming totally during recent time, at the start I only camping on my realm so it took a long time before I get my first Reins of the Slate Primordial Direhorn, then I stop farming this for nearly half year.

This few days, I been doing realm hopping a lot in between Sha/Nalak/Oondasta/Galleon, within 2 days and less than 10 kill, I got both

Reins of the Amber Primordial Direhorn

Reins of the Jade Primordial Direhorn

So my recommendation is that don't just camp on one spot on your own realm, hop around on LFG, for example: join those group with - Open Garrison, Realm hop, Fur/Herb/Ore/Dust/Leather trade!

I killed all except 1 of these spawns and witnessed every spawn, recording the times. I only used 3 of the 5 spawn points, but it provides a spot on sample of my experience at all of the spawn points.

Zandalari Warbringers are still a bit of a lucrative farm due to the sacks of goodies they drop. I get a lot of trillium this way as well as all other MoP matz (ie gems, cloth, leather, ghost iron, kyparite, herbs, enchanting matz, etc.. etc..).

I've been grinding them for a short time and with the help of NPCScan I've gotten 2 of the mounts and a ton of the matz already. There's still plenty of people farming them, so it's kind of a battle, but with the right tools you can get a head start on other players.

As stated earlier, I use NPCScan and here is why I think it gives me the edge and why I always manage to tag the Warbringers before other players. The alarm goes off before the gfx even load the Warbringer on my pc and I have a decent computer. I'm imagining that some players don't have gfx as good as mine and are therefore milliseconds behind me in loading their targets. I highly recommend using it.

With the prepatch for Legion, this NPC and the others like it have become Personal Loot. You can now tag this mob with at least four of your friends, and each of you gets a chance at the mount and other loot. You cannot, however, share the tag with members of the other faction.

I've probably killed close to 20 of these guys, from all locations, and I still only get one color and 1 mount, so far. I'm not sure what's going on. I guess I'll just have to keep farming and hoping.

OKAY.
I was just casually doing some shadow-pan quests, and a Warbringer popped up on my map.
I'm level 101ish, so I figured that I could easily solo it and grab myself some rep tokens.

So I kill it. Loot it. And I got the Jade Direhorn mount!

This is the first Warbringer I've ever killed, I couldn't believe it.

This will probably annoy people that are grinding for a mount (sorry!), but i'm so happy!

Hey Guys,

so after several hours of farming the Zandalari Warbringers i thought i'd share my experience with you:

all information were gathered on one day of farming.

Spawn Timers:
Dread Wastes - 8:49, 9:28, 10:28, 11:14, 11:52, 12:45
Krasarang Wildes - 9:23, 10:11, 11:02, 11:46, 12:38, 13:33
Kun Lai Summit - 11:28, 12:10
Jade Forest - 9:57, missed, 11:27, 12:08, 12:56
Townlong Steppes - not seen all day

This makes an average of 48,85 minutes respawn time.

In total i killed 50 Zandalari Warbringers. (not only on this day)

The mount drops:

1. Slate Primordial Direhorn - 34th Warbringer
2. Amber Primordial Direhorn - 40th Warbringer (i hit exacty 5% drop rate there)
3. Slate Primordial Direhorn - 44th Warbringer

still missing the Jade Primordial Direhorn, but getting exalted with every faction now demotivated me to keep on farming.

Nevertheless happy grinding bois <3

After 80 kills here is a valuable tip that works every time. Learn the exact spawn spot of the warbringer and stand on that spot. This delays his spawn and the gold star will appear on your minimap 20-30 seconds before he actually spawns. This is on Dalaran server not sure about other servers. And I have seen spawn times as little as 7 min (once)and as long as 100 min(immed after 7 min spawn) but my general rule of thumb is be there before 30 min since last spawn to be safe.

Thought I would post something interesting that happened while camping one of these in Jade Forest. TL;DR at bottom.

I had been camping for about 15 minutes or so, and during this time several enemy faction players were camping there as well. I tabbed out for a few seconds and when I tabbed back in they were all standing around the corpse.

While trying to decide/predict where the next spawn would be, all enemy faction players and the corpses disappeared and another Zandalari Warbringer had spawned. It appeared as though I had phased into another realm, despite not being with any group all night. The enemy players were moving around as well so it wasn't an tabbing glitch.

I don't know much about server phasing, however it was about the time server activity dies down for the night. Therefore, my only explanation is with Cross-Realm Servers I phased onto another realm as server activity was dying down.

This may not be specific to the Zandalari Warbringer, however I wanted to point it out for people trying to play the spawn timers. The idea being that you kill Warbringer at location X and 15 minutes later you kill Zandalari Warbringer at location Y, you can go back to X and try and play the timers back and forth until the varying spawn timer of 30-60 min breaks the cycle. Essentially, these phasing may explain you missing a kill at X when you head back there. They're also something to take note of if you are sitting at a spawn point for an unusually long time. I doubt the phasing itself happens that often.

TL;DR. There appears to be the possibility that you will phase onto another server due to Cross-Realms during server activity shifts. Something to keep in mind while camping or trying to time the spawns.

Warbringers can be looted by everyone of the same faction that tags it. You don’t have to be in a group. I’m shocked by how many people are not aware of this. If you’re capable of killing them with 1 hit, please be considerate and use a lower damage hit so that others have a chance as well. Thank you

Can anybody tell me if these still drop? I only managed to collect 3 of these during MoP but still need the Amber version. in Legion I've killed over 200 Warbringers and haven't seen a single mount drop :S

I hadn't seen it posted so may be old news but both factions can loot this now.

I was camping this while packing for a move and two alliance show up. I had the stopwatch running in order to track times and knew I had some time before I needed to stop packing so I could be ready get first hit. The add on wanted me so I drop my death and decay at spawn point and prepare to blook boil whem becomes visable. Despite their effort I was able to manage first tag. I always blood boil and d&d once so they don't die fast so others can get tag. Both the alliance players notice the spawn and proceed to kill. It was then that I noticed both came over to loot the corpse. I even heard the noise it makes when you learn the mount or click the rep token.

It appears you can now still tag this mob and loot it if the opposing faction tagged it before you. There have been multiple reports of this before, but I've seen it twice in the past day, both times I'm sure I didn't touch it before someone from the opposing faction.

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but do these spawn specifically to realm? I was levelling an alt in Jade Forest, saw this mob, relogged to my main (same realm), and it wasn't there. Logged back to my Hunter, it's still there.

Ok guys could please tell me how much times did you need to kill Zandalari Warbringer to get atleast one of the mounts? For 2 years I killed more than 60 of them and none of the mounts dropped? :(

I successfully farmed the 3 Warbringer mounts over the last week or so very casually and figured I'd report my results:

I farmed the mounts using class trial characters on RP Realms. I made Druids simply because flight form was faster than mounting but any class works. When you make the class trial skip the intro by walking to the back of the zepplin/airship and mounting the windrider/gryphon. From there you'll be taken to SW or Org, where you'll go take the portal to Dalaran. *At this time select your Warmode setting, I had 2 characters per realm, one with Warmode on, one off. You can have up to 12 class trials and make up to 4 per hour*. From Dalaran take the portal to Shrine, and fly to your first target. I would log out if a warbringer wasnt up in the location and try another server/WM Phase, its not worth flying to all 5 locations just to find none are up. If the first was up I would fly to the next spawn point until I either farmed all 5 or ran into one that wasnt up at which point I'd switch over.

To get all 3 mounts took:
Slate - 45 Kills
Amber - 30 Kills
Jade - 28 Kills

The realms I used were:
Argent Dawn
Blackwater Raiders
Cenarion Circle
Earthen Ring
Steamwheedle Cartel (All US)

Total /played time between all class trials was about 4.5 hours.

In my experience of camping the Warbringers, they always spawn sometime after Silentstrike Pterrorwing spawns. Additionally, approximately 30 seconds to a minute before they spawn, the Warbringer will appear on the mini-map as a rare spawn, this gives everyone a chance to prepare to tag it. It is now a global tag, so as long as you damage it, you will get personal loot.

Keep swinging by the location listed on the map here to farm some Klaxxi rep tokens, however these guys are never there. I don't know how rare they spawn but if anyone has some info it would be appreciated!

Note that all 3 types of Warbringers don't spawn at all 5 spawn points. For example, the one in Krasaring is ALWAYS the slate version.

Wowhead is usually pretty good about this sort of thing, but I haven't seen any information here about which ones spawn where... does anyone have this info?

I only need the Slate version and I don't want to waste time at spawn points where Slate will never drop, e.g. Kun-Lai Summit (which from what I can tell only drops Jade).

I started doing these guys on a low pop server to up my shado-pan rep. I started with shado-pan a few points into honored, the other three were neutral....two days later Lotus, August, and Klaxxi are all exalted while Shado-pan is currently at 12900 of 21000...that is how little the SP Insignia have dropped

Just attempted one of these in Kun-Lai Summit. We were both lvl 38, it had 110k health, I had 5k as a Paladin. I only lasted 2 seconds. No hope. As I was writing this I saw someone else make the attempt... for about 4 seconds as they tried to run away.

I found out a perfect way to farm these warbringers.. level a character up to 49. go to all the locations where they are standing. Every single one is up all the time. Bring a friend that already have the warbringer mounts if you cant solo them.

Use Chromie time. Remember your character cannot be 50. you wont be able to get access to it, unless A friend of yours Party Sync so you will get transported to chromie time..

My experience obviously doesn't mean a ton as far as drop rate, but for those curious:

Slate was dropped on 1st try back when MoP was new content - yes I considered myself very lucky. Dropped from the NPC on the island south of Krasarang Wilds.

I recently decided to try and get the other two colors...

Slate actually dropped 2 more times before either Amber or Jade dropped. For me, Slate was about a 10% drop rate. Slate dropped 4 times over the course of getting all three--I wish they weren't BoP and could have been sold or gifted.

Amber dropped next - after 19 tries...which seems true to its drop rate. (Townlong Steppes location)

Jade on the other hand was a big headache. But the good news is, it did FINALLY drop after 46 attempts. Putting it's drop rate at 2.1% Yeesh. (Dread Wastes location)

So don't give up! Also, you can sell all the stuff that comes in the bags, or get all your toons leveled in MoP rep. :)

I decide that i want these Direhorns no matter what, and start farming them in shadowlands, these are my recommendations.

• Don't try to take a scenic route in these mobs: the real problem it's the spawn time like 30 min to 1 hour, it's very difficult to say when they will be up, and a lot of people want them, don't waste time flying from one spot to another, use your alts.

• Put an alt character at least in level 40 in their spawn zone: you want to have all the chances, the more efficient way to do it, it's to put a character in each zone and review it time to time, do not try to stay all the time there, go live your life and when you have time check them out.

• Keep going: you know like me, that blizzard loves to put that drop percentage, it hard but you need to have perseverance all the comments below say that is highly possible that you get the mounts in order.
1. Slate
2. Amber
3. Jade

Trust me a lot of people it's there too, they want them, but if you can, try to go in hours when people often don't play, in early mornings or late-night that way you chances in getting the mounts increases.

I quite literally had to ask my mom to pinch me - I thought I was dreaming.

At noon today, on Medivh, I got the Amber Primordial Direhorn at the Kun-Lai summit spawn. I ran around for a few more hours, hoping at least for insignias, but things were really busy so I hopped onto my character on Argent Dawn, knowing competition would be lower. (I didn't start there because I already had lots of reputation progress on my Medivh character). Well, at the Jade Forest spawn, I got the Slate one on my very first kill of the day. Already in disbelief, I continued to the Kun-Lai spawn AND PROMPTLY GOT THE JADE. According to Rarity, I had 6 attempts at Amber, 9 at Jade, and 8 at Slate. This is... insane, and I'm still not sure this is real.

Have hope - these are obtainable. Just apply the same logic as TLPD and Aeonaxx hunting, and you'll get them all someday.

Just FYI, if you're gonna camp these, you better sit on the exact spot it spawns and spam an attack since some a-holes with stealth classes like to kill it before you can even see the frickin things.

If you're one of these pricks that do this, there's no reason we can't all loot, there's no reason to be a jerk about it.

The best way by far to camp these guys (and the Warscouts) is with Warmode on. My realm is pretty low pop but I only encountered one other person and every single one was up. I just keep a Warmode alt logged in and check every now and then. :)

In the midnight pre-patch these are buffed and hardly solo-able, or mine was heavily bugged. I am ilvl 121 after the item level squish and i had to heal myself constantly, whereas i was oneshotting this mob before the pre-patch.
