Requires the completion of a quest chain that is started from Torn Invitation, which is a rare reward from the following sources:

The final quest in the chain, Volpin the Elusive, rewards this mount.

Reins of the Long-Forgotten Hippogryph

Locate 5 Ephemeral Crystal in Azsuna. The first person to collect 5 crystals will receive the mount, at which point all of the crystals will despawn and all other players will need to wait for them to respawn to try again. You have 8 hours from the time you click the first crystal to click on the remaining 4, otherwise you will need to start over.

54, 33 — North of Nar'thalas academy
37, 32 — Nor'danil Wellspring
50, 20 — Azurewing repose, in a cave, next to a wall
61, 30 — In a cave , near Kira Iresoul

42, 08 — Northern Coast
34, 35 — Nor'danil Wellspring
42, 33 — Azurewing Repose, South
53, 28 — Azurewing Repose, East
59, 38 — Nar'thalas Academy, East

Keep in mind that the BS mount looks to be usable by all while the LW mount is only for leather workers. Glad I already have 319 mounts since it does not look like there are enough mounts for a 350 achievment.

Yay new guide is up! So sad there are not that many mounts and most so far seem to be drops. Hopefully many more will be added, as I was hoping Legion rep mounts will finally let me reach 300. Also I for one am NOT farming 2 mil gold for a mount I will NEVER use (ew)

P.S - do you update the Mount Collecting- Completionist Guide? (Or will you update your guides for mounts no longer attainable - such as Grove Warden?)

P.P.S I hope this guide is still being updated- nothing has changed in 6 months or more. Some more new mounts listed below....

EDIT: I'm sure they'll be added to this guide soon, as a recent news post linked them: the 4 new falcosaur mounts are obtained by acquiring the falcosaur pets (via WQ) and completing the quest chains they give you. This will also allow you to unlock a PvP faction which offers Ivory Hawkstrider

FYI - if, like myself, you have never touched a pet battle in your life (I never trained for them at all) the new pets will NOT offer you a quest.

EDIT: new for 7.2 paragon rewards (rep beyond exalted-can be earned multiple times) have a chance to reward mounts:
Highmountain Elderhorn (Highmountain)
Valarjar Stormwing (Valajar)
Cloudwing Hippogryph (Court of Farondis)
Wild Dreamrunner (Dreamweavers)
Leywoven Flying Carpet (Nightfallen)
Also, the Riddler's Mind-Worm has been found. (I'm sooo glad people post their findings, I could never find this stuff myself!)

EDIT: new for 7.2.5 Abyss Worm drops from Mistress Sassz'ine in ToS (this is personal loot)
I'm too lazy to link them all, but class mounts are now available. Some classes have 1 mount that changes color as you change specialization, while others have multiple mounts earned in various ways.

EDIT: as of 8/2/17 a new store mount is available Luminous Starseeker
And happy news for collectors, looks like 7.3 will bring many new mounts :)

One other too keep an eye out for is Reins of the Long-Forgotten Hippogryph.. Mount Journal says Azsuna, but I dont think anyone has found a source for it yet.... maybe a hidden mount somewhere?

If you can put a least two motorcycle mounts into World of Warcraft then there is nothing stopping you from sneaking in a skateboard mount.

How to easily collect every race-specific mount within an hour:

With the introduction of Legion Class Trials you can now instantly get to play a lvl 100 character, with 10 gold and (yes, this is really dumb) free access to a mail box and a Hearthstone/Garrison Hearthstone.

This effectively means that you can in about 1 minute create a new level 100 character, cast your Garrison Hearthstone to your new garrison, take a portal to Ashran, and from there to the faction city of your choice only to proceed to navigate to the equivalent starting zone of your class.

Make sure to first send yourself approximately 40-50g before doing this, as you only get 10g from starting off.

Do note that you don't have to go through the actual class trial, just use your Garrison Hearthstone the first thing you do, and proceed to collect some faction mounts!

I have 252 marks of honor and I am not crazy about transmog and I got all the marks of honor mounts years ago for both factions. Can we please get at least one more mount that can be bought with marks of honor and make it worth 100 marks of honor or more? I am sure the insane appearance collectors and people who don't pvp much will down vote this.

There are many more possible Ephemeral Crystal spawn points than are listed from the Hippogryph. You should probably note that the list you have is only a small sample of possible locations and that as yet there is no known complete list. Edit: My friend Purgatorywolf wrote a guide that has a better (but likely still incomplete) list of crystal spawns: Seeking the Long-Forgotten Hippogryph

The Elderhorn Riding Harness needs Leatherworking to craft and learn, but all chars on your account can use it even if they don't have Leatherworking.

The part about the longforgotten hippogryph is wrong, you dont have 8hour from the moment you click first crystal, you have 8 hours from the moment it spawned

7.3 info:
All Rare Elite Spawns on Argus rotate on a ~4 hour window of opportunity. In that time it will respawn and will be lootable. However, when that window closes the rare spawn will despawn, including ones that are pulled already.

The exemption to this rule is when they are the World Quest target. If that is the case, then the rare spawn will respawn throughout the entire window the WQ is available.

There are rare spawns that drop a fel spotted egg, and rare spawns that drop mounts. There seems to be a limit to how many of these will be active at once. At the moment, it appears that there will never be any more than one fel spotted egg dropper and no more than one mount dropper up at any one time. -Excluding World quests

Fel Spotted Eggs, after the 5 day wait time, becomes a Cracked Fel Spotted Egg, which can either drop a mount, pet, or junk.
The mounts from the eggs are: Vibrant Mana Ray, Scintillating Mana Ray, Felglow Mana Ray, and Darkspore Mana Ray
The pets from the eggs are: Fel Afflicted Skyfin and the Docile Skyfin
Note: you are NOT guaranteed a mount or pet drop. It could still result in a useless item.

The rare elites that drop the eggs are:
Naroua - In north eastern Krokuun, from a path at Destiny Point
Sabuul - In Central Mac'Aree, directly north of the center-most teleport point.
Varga - In central Anrotan Wastes, under the spider area and accessible via a fel lava level cave

All of the Mount Dropping Bosses are
Skreeg The Devourer : who drops the Acid Belcher
Both Vrax'thul and Puscilla drop the Biletooth Gnasher
Blistermaw: who drops the Crimson Slavermaw
Venomtail Skfin: drops the Lambent Mana Ray
Wrangler Kravos: drops the Maddened Chaosrunner
Houndmaster Kerrax: drops the Vile Fiend
