Installing the Wowhead Client
Download the Wowhead Client.
Place it anywhere you wish on your computer.
Start it up, and go through the initial configuration process, which includes entering your
You can close the program, and the addon will quietly gather your tasty dataz as you play the game. You don't need to run the Client program every time you play WoW, just when you are ready to upload your data.
Since a fresh install of MoP does not include a realmlist.wtf file, Mac users will have to create this file in order for the Client to realize users are connecting to a valid Blizzard realm. Thanks to

Run TextEdit however you normally start apps (double click in Finder or use Spotlight).
Paste in the appropriate "set realmlist" entry from SnorkelPop's post above, on a blank line, with no spaces at the beginning or end of the line (extra blank lines above/below aren't a problem, though):
For US Clients — <World of Warcraft>/realmlist.wtf:
set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
For EU Clients — <World of Warcraft>/realmlist.wtf:
set realmlist eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
Click Format>Make Plain Text in the menu.
Save the file you just created to /Applications/World of Warcraft/realmlist.wtf
(Unless your WOW directory is different from the default location, in which case save it there.)
Run the Wowhead Client again.

— The Wowhead Looter provides a little tool to quickly check your location on the zone map in x-y-coordinate form. There are three ways to display this information; in the chat box, on the World Map, and in a special tooltip. Alternative chat commands are

— The Wowhead Looter allows you to find out NPC ids conveniently for purposes such as finding the correct NPC to upload a screenshot for. Ids are displayed in a tooltip, with targeted NPCs taking priority over mouse-over targets. An alternative chat command for this is
— If you for whatever reason want to delete data gathered in the current session, you can do so with this functionality. An alternative chat command is
— Data gathered by the Wowhead Looter will be displayed here.
— The Wowhead Client keeps itself and the Wowhead Looter addon up to date.
— Several options and preferences can be set, among others your World of Warcraft folder location, startup and uploading options.
— Uploading is done easily; simply click 'Upload', and the client will do the rest for you. Make sure you have closed the World of Warcraft client before uploading!
