This dropped for the first time I ran Heroic Sethekk Halls.

I was doing the epic flight form quest and I was so excited when it dropped, however a mage got it (he never logs on anymore) and my quest was bugged so I didn't get credit for the kill. Turned out to be the most memorable useless instance run I've ever done :)

Fancy as it looks, this mount can give players a headache as characters bounce repeatedly up and down while riding it - even more so than the raptor mounts.

In patch 2.3, some pretty cool sound effects were added to this mount (previously, /mount special and landing impacts etc did not have sound effects on the raven lord).

I just won this in my 1st heroic sethekk halls run... i won the fishing tournament that morning so i dident have any joy left to yell so all i cound do is shake... its awsome, it makes a schreeching noice wen u press spacebar.. its so cool, if i could pick any other rare mount id still keep this. exept maybe that rare mount from AQ from a long time ago.... well its totaly worth running over and over if ur that determend, just make sure there's no ninja's in ur party

no.... you just need friends or guild members to go with you... everyone pass and then roll is what we did and that way no one could ninja it, someone could of greeded or needed but we had honor...... and also the sounds Kolenzo was talking about are awsome.. when you mount up it sounds like a mechanostrider and when you press spacebar or type /mountspecial he makes this loud schreeching noice, also this mount is 2 times bigger than a normal one.. this might be becuase im a gnome and gnomes have bigger mounts than normal but if u /kiss mojo the frog while on this mound you will be 4 times bigger.. and if you drink Winterfall Firewater you will be 6 times bigger! here is the link to the water http://www.wowhead.com/?item=12820 and this one for mojo http://www.wowhead.com/?item=33993

Hmm, dosen't it kinda strike you as funny that of the 11 pictures, there is onyl one druid with the mount? The guy that had to go through all the trouble getting the item to summon Anzu didn't even get it most of the time....

there is only 2 on alliance side of my server (me and a female gnome) and a tauren male on horde side that has it.. its pretty rare but not the rarest mount in game

The possible drop for the mount isent common... the only reason its on the front row is because this boss dosent drop any trash items, the drop rate is 0.8% or 23 out of 2860 if it hasent changed lately - Golgothaa of Anentheron, one lucky gnome who got the mount.

EDIT: this mount looks exacly like Anzu the Raven Lord himself

This mount dropped for my group today on Mal'Ganis! Unfortunately I was not lucky enough on the rolls to win it. I had offered everyone 450g each to pass on it and not a single person wanted to pass. I don't blame them! This mount is truly amazing.

Well... after farming this mount for over 100 runs.. I decided to take the advice of a few of the above posts and started farming gold during my spare time.

Run 144 it droped. Offered each member 3,000g to pass for me and won with a roll of 4.

Money well spent in my opinion. Fortunatly it was mostly a guild run and a few of them offered to pass it for free. <3 You guys!

Got this baby today, first time I saw it drop, so I got quite happy :). Always wanted it. First time I attempted to get this mount since the patch and it dropped. Might be a buffed droprate, or we were just lucky, I'm not sure. Can anyone confirm a higher droprate, or is it as it was before 3.0?

Swift Flight form is trainable at level 71 according to WoW 3.0.3 PTR patch notes.

Does this mean that the Swift Flight Form quest chain for druids will make it so no new druids will be able to summon Anzu, and only the veteran druids who have done the chain will be able to summon him?

My advice if you're going to try and solo this as a feral druid.

Kill Talon King first. If you die against Anzu you can always run into Ilkiss's room, and be right there at the fight. :)

I've been farming this mount for a long long time now, even since somewhere season 2 (TBC). I've done 69 runs so far, and I still really want this mount. Offering about 1000g to each party member works, atleast it did in TBC, no need to offer 3000g, you are just wasting your money. Since I'm a priest I can't summon it, but luckely I have a druid alt, so what I do to summon him is: right infront of the boss I give leadership of the party to someone else, alt+F4 and log on my druid. He gets invited and I walk to the boss, summon him, alt+F4 again and log on my priest. When I log in, the boss is just summoned and we kill him.

If you are farming this mount on lvl 80 and planning on farming this with 2 people and planning to roll, good luck, you need to be insanely lucky to get it that way. I've always made sure if it would drop I would get it.... but I haven't had much luck, never seen it drop.

I hate those people that do 1 run and get it. If you are one of them, please know how lucky you are, and use that mount 100% . Don't even dare riding on that silly tiger or kodo, use the Raven Lord, since it's the coolest mount in WoW (it just is...) ! :P

By the way, don't think this is *lolezmode lvl 70*, for some classes it might, but those guards located in 6 diffrent places in the instance still hit pretty hard.

My fiance and I are on our 46th run as of later today. Since we ran it pre-BC quite a few times, I lost track.. more than likely we are between our 46th-55th run, maybe more, but likely not. Not once have we seen it. None of my Guildies have it, nor friends. Now he and I multi-box it with my Druid who can summon Anzu, as we're 80. He knows how badly I want it, and is going to pass the Reins to me. :D

As drop rates can't be trusted, it's hard to keep faith not knowing how much chance we really have. But we keep running it daily, and are not going to miss another unless we utterly have to. After all, it's only once a day. Two bad it's not 5 times daily, lol. >.<

I'm wondering how many of you who got it, when did you get it... During BC, during Lich? Approximately how many runs did it take you? I'm curious! And how many others have it on your server? For us, I've seen 8 so far.

With all the reading and whatnot that I've done, I do believe it is a 1% drop-rate.

For those of you still farming it, may luck be with us. That's all it really is based on after all; and if you keep running it nearly every day, you will eventually get it. I will keep you all posted, I hope those of you who're after it do the same!

Update: Run 57 Done, no Anzu love yet! :(

Sup Sup..This mount still drops in WOTLK. I know cause i got it. You as all know need a druid to summon boss but anyone can roll on it when it drops. As a lvl 80 druid in full T7.5 gear i could solo boss quite easy. It's a low drop rate but dropped for me on only the second farming attempt. Im also soloing the ZG boss for tiger mount but this by far beats it in how cool it looks. Everyday people ask where did i get it. Anyways, what i did is stealth to boss, clear room then summon boss. Easy as can be. Good luck all. Love my mount and hope you all can enjoy the same.

Me and a guildie decided that we would run through all the mount instances and just farm the mounts, we picked which ones we wanted so it would be fair ( not decided by a roll ). the 2nd time we ran through SH the mount dropped, he passed, and i won :). the next day we went to MgT and the hawkstrider dropped, i passed, and he won :P gl to everyone trying to get this mount. It's really awesome

I've been farming Anzu for 55 runs before the expansion, and have logged at least as many runs as days in 2009, at this time. I'm at 93 runs at this time.

Just in case you may not know your chances of it dropping, with sequential runs, you can look at how many times it has 'not dropped' and your chances of it not dropping to get an idea of how lucky you might be.

Coin Flip experiment: 50/50 for Tails or Heads, but to get it to land on Tails 3 times in a row, you have to multiply that chance by itself 3 times. 0.50^3. That's the same situation as having run Anzu and have it not drop 93 times in a row. 0.99^93 ~= 40% chance. At least with every run I make, I have better than 50/50 now... I'm looking forward to run #300, when I'll have 95% chance of it dropping.

I solo this instance regularly as feral without any issues. I'm not sure how many times I've killed this guy but it hasn't dropped yet.

Sometimes I bring a mage friend in to speed things up a bit. When I have him with me we kill:
ZG Tiger Boss, ZG Raptor Boss, Attumen the Huntsman in Kara, and Anzu in less than an hour.

The Raptor mount dropped a couple weeks ago for us.

Thought I'd mention, for other Death Knights or similar classes soloing this instance, that there are several mobs you can skip, thought I'd post a small quick-guide below:

1. The first two guards can be skipped if you run straight ahead once the instance loads, but might as well get them, anyway. Then take the Initiate+Owl and the two guards in front of the first big room.

2. Here you can, at level 80 sneak past all the big groups, going over to the left and pulling the two guards at the door in to the next hallway with you. (watch for that owl flying around)

3. In the next big room you can also skip groups by first going to the middle of the bonfire once the owl has passed, then running straight forward and pull the two guards into the next hallway, kill them and the owl that comes.

4. Kill the two guards in front of the boss room, then sneak past the boss by hugging the left wall. (or kill him if you feel like some blue vendor loot and a badge of justice, he can be hard as a death knight however, as the elementals he summons are immune to diseases)

5. Kill the two guards in the hallway after the first boss, hug the right wall and kill all the small birds, then after the big blue wind serpent goes back to the beginning of the room, sneak in between the two groups in front of you by waiting for the left patrolling birdman to go back to his group, going forward to the stair, then waiting for the right birdman to go back to his group then sneaking around and up the stairs.
The big blue wind serpent patrolling the stairs can be avoided if you wait for him to go to the end of the room, but might as well kill him, then kill the two guards up there.

6. Kill the pack of small birds inside the next room, then wait for the patrolling birdman to go left, and sneak onto the ledge with small birds to the right. Kill them and sneak straight forward to the two guards. Kill them, and the big blue wind serpent that will probably come.

7. You can, with some very good sneaking skills kill only one pack in the Anzu room if you're just after the last boss, but ofc if you're doing Anzu you might as well clear the room. If you wanna do just one pack, basically just pull the wind serpent once he's in the middle, then go to the middle yourself and pull the pack on the upper right, get them into the wall and behind some crates to avoid fear (or just nuke down the prophet first) then sneak into the final boss room.

8. This final pack before the final boss can be very hard, but it's just very important that you kill the prophet first to avoid fear, then quickly move away to avoid the blue ghost he spawns, which hits hard, you can move between the two corners to the left and right inside the entrance to the final boss room.

9. Now you can can kill the final boss, who is really easy if you just dodge the arcane explosion by going behind a pillar or using Anti-Magic Shell as a death knight. Now you can go out the back door, and if you're coming back in with a druid alt or friend to summon the boss, kill the three mobs that are in the middle of the first big room, then go to the entrance and relog.

10. (Optional) If you're logging on your druid alt, make sure to invite someone to group, make them leader, and have them invite your druid. Then just run in and everything should be cleared. Stealth forward past the first room, run up to Anzu's place and place the moonstone you need to summon on the pedestal, right after you place the orb, quickly relog, go back to your main and run in, you should be able to reach the room even before he is summoned, so you can pick him up right away, although it doesn't really matter as he won't despawn either.

In fact, it dropped 20 minutes ago! I begged 3 of my friends for a month now to come with me to Anzu, I acquired the Heroic Mode key. They're lvl 80s, I'm a lvl 70 so it was very fast.

First try...
The tank was the Master Looter, he approached Anzu's corpse...
Darkhold ( Tank ) : No way
Darkhold: Synachriss ( me ) you lucky bas*****!
Liliben ( druid/healer ) : First run and it dropps... Gz
Maslac ( Lock/DPS ) : Unbelievable...

63.3% chance you'd have this mount after exactly 100 kills.
86.6% at 200 kills.
95.0% at 300 kills. By this time you may seriously want to consider farming something else.

3) Keep Demo Roar and FFF up, tank-and-spank until add phase (he will /yell). Save Barkskin for Paralyzing Screech (6s stun).

If you have specced into Primal Tenacity that reduces stun damage by 30%, im pretty sure this does not stack with barkskin; so i save my barkskin for if he gets a bleed on me.

on about 40 tries now starting to get boring !

Asked a druid friend of mine to do Raven-runs with me, we agreed we would both need if it drops.
So, after 2 runs it dropped, yes I know, damn lucky. we both needed and I got it. :)

I run Setthek every day since December and no cute mount :( but I run it in a particular way : I clear the instance with my DK then group someone, disconnect my DK, connect my druid (grouped by my friend), my druid summons Anzu then disconnect my druid and finally connect my DK (to kill Anzu).

But after one hundred of runs (and perhaps as much during BC /cry), I am asking : does it drop when there is no druid at the time of the kill? :x

(I am really sick of Setthek but I keep dreaming ^^).

We farmed 2-man Sethekk Halls that mount and it dropped at 13th run, so was lucky though :). Only had to pay 1k gold for the druid that he would pass.

Alright ive been doing this about 25 times since WOTLK came out, not to include about 20+ times in BC. I still have yet to see this mount drop, just the other day a pally goes in there and on his 2nd time ever in Sethekk halls the mount drops, Whats the average time it will take to get this? like it has 1% drop rate but that doesnt mean if you run in 99times its gonna drop the next day, it still has a 1%drop rate, not 100%drop rate on 100th day.

AnzuSeeker I have to say you inspired my girlfriend and I to keep at doing (H) Sethekk every day possible. After litterally months of tries on my prot warrior pre-Wotlk and then i'd say about 2 solid months on my prot DK, the Raven Lord mount dropped. My girlfriend was kind enough to pass for Anzu as I passed for her ZG tiger, and its pretty rare to see the Raven Lord on a DK where normally you see druids on it. So don't give up! Never lose hope! Keep focused and it will drop for you when your time comes. Best of luck Anzu hunters of the World of Warcraft!

PS this mount dropped the day of patch 3.1 being implemented so it is still currently obtainable in-game.

Been farming this ever since I got the ability to summon, still never seen it drop. :( Probably up to 40-50 runs by now. Getting a little disheartened, but I'm going to keep trying. I've loved this mount ever since I saw it and I want it more than anything in the game (except maybe Ashes of A'lar, haha).

I heard from a friend (who ran Stratholme like 200 times before finally getting his mount) that if you're in a group of 5 people, your chances of drop rate are increased. Is that true, or is it better to just solo or 2-man (if you can't solo it)?

I'm on run 93 as of this evening, so I know the frustration all too well!

The chance of a drop rate is not increased with a group of 5 as far as all the information I've gathered, and I've read tons of information on drop rates and whatnot. The loot table is created when the first person zones into the instance. So if you're solo'ing it, it's based on your RNG. You can 2-man it, or solo. I'm lucky in the fact that my Fiance and I run it together and he has no issues with passing the mount to me; he wants the ZG Raptor and HMGT Hawkstrider, which are his when they drop.

Trust me, there isn't any way to increase the chances of a drop rate; all you can do is keep trying. It's an easy run, but a disappointment every time Anzu is down and there isn't any Reins to show for it; anyone who has it will tell you it's far worth the time and effort.

Don't give up, you won't like the results. Giving up = never having the Reins.
That in itself keeps me motivated. :)

Since noone has mentioned this, this mount can't jump out of water.

This means that if you're a deathknight (like me) who happens to get a hold of one of these lovely birds and you forget to cast path of frost before entering the water, you must dismount manually now, cast path of frost, jump up on top of the water and then remount... Minor inconvenience, but there you have it.

Also, is it just me, or is it incredibly ironic that a mount that drops from a boss who flies around the room the whole encounter that is only summonable as part of a quest involving epic flying... is a land only mount? Seriously, this thing has (admittedly, small) wings, I'd love to see it flying :(

I can solo Anzu for ages I can say but no luck with the drops. As I count I'm on my 131 run tonight. Still no drop but I decided I wont give up and I will continue farming!:)

I'm normally dual-specced resto/moonkin. So after reading about the hot-the-statue-until-anzu-is-close-to-death-and-then-starfire method, I tried it out. It worked, and the mount didn't drop. I tried that method twice and decided that it simply took too long. I also wasn't crazy about using what is obviously an exploit, so I decided to dedicate my 2nd spec to feral specifically to farm the mount.

My feral set consists of mostly 200 level gear, with a few 213's thrown in here and there. The fight was as easy as many here have described.

I approached the farming almost like a daily. I'd do my Argent Tournament dailys, hearth to Crusader Point, then fly to Dalaran and take the portal to Shat. Once in Shat, I'd fly to the instance, buff with MotW and thorns, then stealth to the end boss.

I killed Ikiss each time because I wanted to have a counter for the total number of kills...also, getting saved to the instance was nice, and vendoring the loot from the run actually made it that much more like a daily, since I was getting paid. :)

I'd clear all trash in Anzu's room, and even the big pull right before Ikiss. (Made things much easier, since I could kite all trash into Ikiss' room and not have to worry about fears from the prophets.)

Once the room was cleared I'd summon and kill Anzu. The whole process was usually done before my hearthstone was off cooldown (~25 min) That was my routine and two days ago the reins dropped. Total attempts (according to statistics): 21. I realize that I am very fortunate.

Nevertheless, I would not have started farming the mount if I was not ok with potentially hundreds of runs without a drop. You can't go into it expecting to be lucky. Expect the worst, accept it as a possibility. Think of it no more than a daily. When the mount drops (and in all probability, it will - 86.6% chance you will see it in 200 runs or less), it will be a very welcome surprise, and you will be very happy. :P

Oh, and as a side note...if you have a caster set, be sure to put thorns on while wearing the caster set, then switch to your feral set. By doing that, your thorns will hit for around 200, which is really nice for the bird adds.

Finally got this back on 4-26 (unsure as to how many attempts it's been, seeing as how I didn't get all my boss kills credited to me when achievements rolled out) :)

I've been 2-manning it with the co-GM of my guild (also a druid) for the past 2-3 months almost every single day, and this was the first time either one of us had ever seen it drop. Stoked beyond belief when I won it! He and I still run it almost everyday...gotta get him his own now :D

For those that have never seen it drop, like everyone on here has said already, don't lose faith.....it will drop :) Best of luck to you all :)

Blizard just gave me a present today. I got this mount today after 23 runs. Not a hard fight just the time and commitment of every day running this instance for the drop. I feel extremely lucky that it dropped so soon for me. Good luck to those of you still farming.

I was luckyish. Got this on my 37th run. I was farming this every day with a friend I had FORCED to make a druid solely for this mount. (and paid completely for.)

After the first month, my friend started getting @#$%ed about it. so it spaned over 2-3 months running every couple of days. This finally dropped after a break from farming it. on 05/20/09. I was screaming OH MY GOD so loud my mother actually came into the room and asked what happened. LOL.

Dont give up hope guys. as of 3.1.2. it still drops, and it drops when you LEAST think it will...!

Well, after running this and keeping track of my runs, I got this item exactly on my 100th run. Guess that shows how accurate that 1% drop rate is ... (if only statistics were that forgiving ...).

So in 3.1 it still drops, and it appears that while fighting the packs around Anzu is even easier to solo now with savage defense. Don't even need to LoS during his banish to heal myself. So more than soloable, I'd say EASILY soloable.

Good luck to all fellow players trying to get this mount, long and tedious, yes but it's definitely worth it.

Wanted to say "Grats!" to everyone who's gotten the Reins and "Good Luck!" to those of us who haven't as of yet. ^^

For a long time I've done plenty of reading up on Anzu farming as well as keeping up with the different data sites and forums. While I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people out there who haven't posted a thing while farming or even when they got their Reins, there's enough data to prove that this grind shouldn't technically take 200 runs. I've seen the math done and the reasoning that yes, all loot is random. This is a 1% drop rate however, so 200 runs seems quite unlikely. As I stated I've covered a lot of data, and anyone who has gotten the Reins didn't get close to that many runs.

So for those of you who are in the 80+ range now, keep the faith! 107 runs completed for my fiance and I, 108 tonight. They will be mine soon! This grind is well worth the payoff. It does need to be treated like a daily and eventually, the Reins will be yours too. :)

Really the only mount I want in the game...Saw it drop once but someone else in the group won it. (Me being the druid who summoned Anzu) I still try it every once and while but cant try much with raiding. So GL to everyone trying to get it...I just hope I get mine someday as well.

Been running This Since December Last year, Now in Late may, have attended nearly everyday, still no mount, starting to lose hope QQ, A girl in my guild got it on her 6th run after she found out i was after it, rng sucks =(

I was interested in something - can u can enter the instance with a druid, then druid goes stealth and kill Anzu and with master looter on druid looting and giving Raven Lord mount to you (who will be waiting at the start of instance)?

I guess that won't work but maybe someone tried it already?

I am farming it every day for at least 5 months now and I still didnt get it (+ TBC runs). Well, its important you never give up. Is it possible to farm this mount? In other words can I run the instance on my druid and paladin (different accounts) and have it drop, loot to my paladin, and then somehow "reset" it and run again on my druid and hunter and loot to my hunter?

Just got my Reins today! Run number 69, had to be that number, not that I'm complaining. >.> I was so happy it dropped, I didn't believe it at first. Don't lose hope, you can get yours too. Good luck in your hunts, its well worth it! =D

This is a rare drop off of Anzu, a special boss that can only be summoned if a druid that has completed or is on the second last step of the Swift Flight Form chain is in the group.

As an 80 druid, Anzu is fairly easy to kill. He will go immune and summon adds which need to be killed every once in a while. You should be able to bring him down without him going immune more than twice.

The only difficult part about this is the trash that needs to be cleared. The Talon Lords will stun you and the Prophets will fear you. Just make sure you you pre-hot, preferably in resto gear for the increased heals, and then burn down the Talon Lords and Prophets first and make sure you stay far away from other packs.

sigh, so far i have soloed this 165 times and nothing plus almost every day on TBC with guild mates helping, i soo wanna give up but the mount just looks tooo gd to loose out on any how happy hunter all of u anzu solo'ers who havent got it either yet :D

Weird, I went in today like i have 29 other times, but when i got to the part to summon him the little alter that you have to click wasn't there. I went out, reset the instance, went back in... same thing. Hope this is just a temporary bug on my part. I always worry that they will get rid of the best looking mount in the game before i can get it.

So, I've had my 103rd run yesterday no mount....
the most intruiggiung thig is that I've been to mgt hc 12 times and I've seen the mount drop 4 times, including my 12th time yday when i soloed it now i have an extra mount in my inventory.
this game is just taking the p... about that raven mount, same thing goes for the start mount which i had done 153 time.......
i really hope my mount drops soon seriously....
I'm also a owner of a spectral tiger unscratched card and if it were the anzu mount is actually use it >.<....I rlly want this mount badly.

I just created an account with Wowhead to let everyone know that on the 5th of July 2009 this mount dropped for me.

It was the 99th kill for me, so I can truly say to all those with high kill counts, keep at it. It bugs me when people kill Anzu and it drops for them after 8 or 9 tries, well I'm happy for you, yet that's not really a true farm.

My wife and I have been farming the Raptor mount for 9 months about 6 times a week (multiple characters). No luck. My wife's druid hit 70 about 3 weeks ago and we started our grinding for the Raven Lord mount. It dropped after about 3 weeks of grinding (about 23 attempts). I won it on my pally. We took the next night off and then went back and it drops again and now have it on my warrior too. Am i extremely lucky or have they up the drop rate? I am not giving up on Raptor.

My warrior and pally are on separate accounts so i can use them both at the same time. Makes it nice for farming rare stuff.

I ran this 27 times before it finally dropped for me.

It's easy enough as Feral. I kill the 1st boss, Berserk pull the 1st two trash pulls, kill the 3rd and the stray reptile thingy, and Berserk pull the 4th and 5th pulls. Anzu is very easy. I like to Rejuvenate the 2 damage helping birds. The fire one helps burn down Anzu's adds REAL fast.

This mount isn't as amazing for me as it is for others considering I have a Grand Ice Mammoth, a Traveler's Tundra Mammoth, and Swift Zulian Tiger too =D

I'm up to 33 kills so far and it still hasn't dropped. It can become a little discouraging at times but eventually it will drop, it has to, right..........right! I see some of you over the 100 mark! O.O I hope it does not take that long.

This just dropped for me on my very first Anzu kill. Very easy to solo as 80 feral druid with decent tanking tanking gear.

I didn't post this just to rub it in that i got it on my very first try, but all my guildmates are offline just now, and I needed to woo hoo! somewhere. lol

i havent started farming anzu yet,and not many boom/moonkins attempt this,but im feeling REALLY discouraged and also very excited about trying(as i got firefly in 385 kills,and crimson whelping in around 50 O.o)im an avid mount/pet collector so this is very much on the list and seeing everyone trying so hard(ive read all the comments)i just wanna say good luck to all who have been trying and will try to get this awsome mount

I got my Raven Lord mount on my first Sethekk Halls H run. I won the roll with a 26 vs a 25, I see you guys can be very high on your kills and don't give up because you will get this awesome mount! Gratz to all who have gotten it and good luck to the people who haven't.

I got this awesome mount today, after 17 runs.I guess I'm Pretty lucky because there is people's at my server who has farming it for month's.

And btw I think they buffed Anzu's "Spell Bomb Curse" because when I farmed this mount with a druid ofc and with druid buff, his bomb hit'd me for 4000. I cant remember it took that much in tbc, rather ~2000. Anzu cast it when he banish himself, he can also cast it random. But as long I can remember while I and the druid farmed the mount, he never casted the spell on the druid ;P only at me(im mage) so i guess casters have to watch out for it ^^.

only tried a handful of times in tbc, and maybe tried twice since wotlk. the other day i had a feeling i should try so i got my ret pally buddy and it dropped. i guess what im saying is go with your gut feeling on things. if you dont think it going to drop dont beat your head against the wall on it. gl all you druids out there.

You know how most of the posts are telling you "Keep farming, don't give up!" well up until today I thought it was a load of bull. I was ready to give up. After a solid 54 tries (54 solo that is, about 20-30 runs with a friend before i realized I could solo it!) and almost a FULL post-it note of checkmarks to keep track of my attempts, I did my daily run as usual and when I looted Anzu only a gem and his blue leather belt popped up in the loot boxes.

... but then, about a full second AFTER they popped up, the REINS OF THE RAVEN LORD POPPED UP! I nearly &*!@ed myself silly. I was so close to just giving up after all these runs, but then when I had the most doubt, my luck turned right around.

So next time you guys read "keep farming, it will drop" and think it will never drop for YOU, just think again. - Totally worth all the runs.

Me and a guildie friend 2man this everyday, twice a day before the dungeon reset at 12 ST. I am a Resto/Balance and my friend is a Destro Warlock. We are both high quality 10/25 Naxx geared. And for us, this is easy no wipes at all unless a bad fear, or CC pull goes badly wrong. Throughout the whole instance up until Anzu, I am balance and offhealing my friend who is an aggro magent. For pulls with 3 or more mobs, I root one mob and cyclone the other for easy kills. When we do get to Anzu, the strategy changes...

I go resto for the fight and HoT up my friend real good b/c of the stuns and screeches. She tanks the boss herself with her imp out. When the adds come out, she just AoEs them until dead. Rinse and repeat until Anzu is dead. Note: I dont use the statue spirit system thing because i dont have time to with my friend taking all the hits.

Hasnt dropped for us yet, but she says I get the mount if it drops because she knows how much i really want this mount. We will continue to farm and farm until the mount drops, hopefully it will be soon.

I'm up to about 40 kills on Anzu so far, and still no mount. Unless you're extremely lucky, expect to be killing him every day for at least a couple of months.

On average, with the 0.8% droprate, it should drop about once every 4 months if you kill him every day. Now that's a pain to find out, but it also means you will have a really rare mount if you eventually get it. You certainly don't see many people running around with it.

Been pretty bummed and discouraged about this mount. I've wanted it badly ever since I first saw it early on in TBC. It's simply amazing imo.

I started running Sethekk Halls with a buddy and we agreed to help eachother until *both* of us had it. Well, we ran it roughly 20-30 times and when it dropped he won the roll. He quit WoW shortly thereafter.

I've been running it daily, rarely ever missing a day since. Currently I'm up to 83 solo runs. My old partner never wanted to kill Ikiss. We ran it, killed Anzu and hearthed out. Since I've been soloing it, I always kill Ikiss for profit and the shortcut. It's also a good way of tracking your # of your runs.

The most disappointing part is that we all have parts/aspects of this game we love. I've always been a bit of a collector, so I'm a mount/pet hound. This mount has been a super want for me for a long time, and also greatly helps out my quest towards Mountain o' Mounts Achievement. It's hard to keep your head up when all you see day in and day out is "Boots of Righteous Fortitude." Daily disappointment is not something that makes a person want to continue on with the game. /End QQ

Hopefully I'll get mine soon. One would think it has to drop *eventually* but who knows if you're that one person who will never get it in 1k runs. And to anyone else out there that's feeling the same way I am after many runs, hang in there because I know how you feel. As for me, I really hope the day comes that I can come back here and post my newest and greatest pride & joy item. Who knows? Time will tell...

After first letting my eyes on this mount I have always wanted it, its very characteristic and special, and being a druid myself made it easier to get. A mate of mine paid me a certain amount of gold for every run and another number of gold when it would drop. After it did drop for him (maybe 20 runs or so) I decided that now was the time to farm it.
Play feral in pvp and so was able to solo it every day in my pvp gear and pvp spec. Stealthed in, cleared the whole room where you summon Anzu and simply killed him, also killed the last boss every time I was there since it gave some extra, and very welcome gold.
Was very lucky and got it after maybe 10 kills, meaning nothing else then it might take you 10 kills to get it, or it might take over 200. The more you grind it the more it will be worth for you in the end.

btw, love how its head bobs when he runs, and the wing movements when you fall.
and yea it still drops, the RNG might just hate you :/

Very difficult to solo as a Balance Druid. I am in Full Tier 8.5 / Ulduar Hmode gear and would consider myself a pretty decent player having attained my Rusted/Ironbound drakes and etc.

However this encounter is still very difficult to solo, I wiped for quite some time and was not able to get it down. The curse is just a huge pain to a caster and even if it's decursed quickly you will just be getting demolished with Melee hits/other abilities he will do. Not to mention being pounded on during the stun and having a ton of knockback! Having a solo spec with Owlkin Frenzy might help quite a bit.

I would suggest bringing a friend and hoping to win the roll or agreeing for him to pass. I can however recommend soloing the first and final boss to open up the door at the beginning of instance that way your friend who can't stealth can just help you clear a few trash mobs and Anzu's room rather than spending 10 extra minutes on trash.

Can stealth through the whole thing but first boss will see through it, pre-hot yourself and pull him making sure to put treants out first for initial aggro. I take aggro pretty quick but he is usually already less than %60 HP, from there just focus the boss, use starfall + trinkets you have and re-hot yourself if needed, popping barkskin when adds come out.

Final boss is pretty simple, just dot him and dps, move to a beam when he casts his main ability (he will stop running/attacking) and go back at it.

Anzu himself I don't think is easily soloably at all, I am going to keep trying a few times and will hopefully get a video if I pull it off!

Up to 32 runs now and haven't gotten the mount yet but good luck to those trying!

Ever since I first saw someone on this mount, it became my mission to get it. Overtime it became less of a priority and I kinda gave up, didn't even bother reaching honored with Lower City.

Then this morning my friend told me she had got it, it was her third run. I got a huge urge to go try my chances, so I collected some feathers, bought the key and attempted to solo. No such luck, kept dying... Then a friend comes along to help me. We kill him in no time and the mount dropped. My first ever run to Sethekk Halls Heroic... I was more than prepared to run it like, 100 times? Was in a state of shock when purple popped up. I hope you all get the same luck I did o.0 I personally think this mount is worth the effort if you end up more unlucky.

Soloed at level 80 druid. Make sure to clear room before pulling boss or you get everything once he summons his flock.

Despite of my main gaving to run the instance and kill anzu for 141 times my alt gets it after soloing it 6 times! I'm going crazy already, this game hates me T_T....

Took me over 280 runs (yes 280, I went to Sethekks every day since december 2008) but finally it dropped and I ran all over my house screaming how joyful I was =D

I don't know if it is important but for the first time I managed to kill Anzu before the second wave of birds (he casted stunning spell while at ~40% and I was under Hysteria and DRW so :P) and the mount dropped :D

So beautiful I can't stop running in dalaran ^^.

I started farming this everyday since July 29, 2009 and it dropped for me September 13, 2009. So 47 days. I think I got extremely lucky, but don't give up on it! I'm still running this again for my boyfriend to get it too now so the farming isn't over for me yet.

This has just dropped for about 25 minutes ago, I've been running it with a friend for the past month and a bit (around 30 tries overall). I know some people are well into their hundred runs for this and I was prepared to go to those lengths to get it too, it's my favourite mount in the game! :)

I ran Heroic Sethekk Halls on my druid 3 times total before the mount dropped. First try was to get my swift flight form, third try the mount dropped. I gotta say, I was pretty lucky.

Ever since BC i've been hunting this mount. I'd come summon and get heart broken. But for the last month I decided to make it a daily thing to do. I solo'd Anzu straight every day since August 31st till today it dropped September 30th 2009. Confirming it still Drops!

Ran this with 3 guildies (one came along for a boost) i said if it dropped the other 2 80's could roll and it dropped first time. I won it seems karma exists as i feel the druid summoning should get first dibs on the item. :D.

Oh and the guy getting the boost on an alt tried to roll on it aswell after i made it explicitly clear he would not have that privilidge if it dropped. I have a word for people like that but it isnt allowed here :P

Took about 50-55 runs for me to get it. Solo'd it everyday as a feral tank. at first it was a bit tough to do, but ever since they introduced the new bear ability (you absorb a certain amount of damage everytime your crit) it has been a breeze.

It's all worth it, riding around in freya's room on your tropical bird =D

Surprised to say I have just gotten this mount after just 2 days of farming it. I've done the pre quest at 80 ( didnt have epic flight nor 5kg at 70 because i was lazy..) at 11/12/09 got the achievment for 'Epic Flight Form' I did the heroic that day for a chance at it but no luck, next day (today) i went in there cleared the room, killed Anzu, saw he had the mount, and got the achievment for having the Anzu mount on 11/13/09. Im not sure if the drop rate was increased or i was just amazing lucky..but i was happy non the less lol.

cleared the instance on a shaman, got a friend to keep the instance saved. afterwards went in with my druid farming alt, summoned anzu, ran out, relog & killed anzu & claimed my prize.

My boyfriend and I ran Sethekk/ZG together with his druid and my shaman until I got a raptor and he got the raven lord; then we did Terokkar Turkey Time with his druid and my priest and it dropped again! Now we have twin Anzus. Crazy that it took him hundreds of runs and my priest gets it her first go. This really shows the RNG.

I FINALLY got the mount tonight. (Nov 26th, 09) Run 78 since I started keeping count via Ikiss kills in my achievement stats, so that doesn't include the many many many times I went in there during BC. It WILL drop just keep at it.

Finally... after 269 Runs. It dropped -- just be persistent. Note that it isn't on the same table as the ring/weapon/belt, you get something else in addition to the reins.

Okay here it is as of today. After 95 solo Druid runs it finally dropped. So, yes it is still there, and the drop rate for me as I had calculated was around 60% chance on that run. Now I can ride it and smile. Good luck to the rest of you, I vow to never return to that place again.

I'm a mainspec boomkin, but had an offset for feral so i solod Anzu

Got on my second attempt, yesterday. Really lucky. =D

The mobs around the room hit much harder the the boss. Clear the room and do the job.

Prowl through the dungeon and kill these mobs in the room before the last boss. Call Anzu using the orb on the object in the middle.

Anzu was easily soloable with furious set and pvp feral spec, even didn't need to use much CDs, except Berserk that helped to end the fight faster. I believe with deadly set it wouldn't be much worse.

This sweet sweet looking baby dropped for my on my 6th run! I'm a feral druid, so it was a piece of cake to solo this. The mount looks really awesome! Guess i'm lucky :D And for you guys out there farming, don't give up, it's well worth it!

Got mine today, after only soloing him 3 times. After reading the comments on the pages I was prepared to run it around about 200 times, but I as sat there muttering "please please please please" and looted the corpse, I was pleasantly surprised!

I hope everyone out there is more lucky that I am. Today was day 411. Still no mount. However I have this strong feeling Blizzard hates me. As I have also ran Stratholme over 1500 times. (Thats counting lvl 60 to now. Most of them were at the low drop rate) Also for 3 months me and a friend ran Kara, ZG, H MgT, and TK every reset.. However.. We have never seen any of the mounts. I envy you all. However.. Assuming they don't take it out.. I will continue to farm this and keep you posted on what day I actually do get it.

I've always wanted Anzu on my Rogue so a while ago I leveled a Druid on another account to 80, geared her a bit from heroics and specced her Feral bear - only for the purpose of solo running Anzu every day I can. For some reason mounts doesn't like me, I've farmed the ZG tiger for so long without a drop, but now that I have the Druid I'm only gonna do Anzu because thats the one mount I REALLY care about.

Still no drop. Like many others I have a feeling RNG hate me! So much work put into this, I really hope I get it.
Troll Rogue on anzu, you don't see that every day do you?

well i cant say anything than gratz to all of you who got this nice mount and keep trying i know i will, going for my 350 run today so a kind of anniversary lol and yeah darn have i cursed ppl with it hearing they got it on 1-15th run but thats RNG for ya. I got a good example of rng i was running the barons mount b4 they buffed the droprate to 1-100 and had around 500 runs and 250 runs after buff and still didnt get it.
Then due to boredom and friends changing server i started a new char on a new server and in a way gave up on my recent farm on old char, then a day where my gf wanted the dancing piccolo trink thingy we we went in there just for that , hearthsinger didnt drop it on first try so we went out and reset without taking the baron, piccolo thingy drops on 2nd run and she says "why not go for barons mount for ya since we are here " and padaw 1st try ever on that server and with that char i got the mount darn RNG, as a note my gf did pass on it knowing how much ive farmed for it and well i help her farm engi recipes etc she wants badly so fair and square id say. So keep on farming and the raven will eventually be urs (i hope)

It dropped last night in 3.3. It took me roughly between 80 - 90 runs. I started tracking Ikiss kills and was up to 71 when it dropped. I had about a dozen or so runs before I started tracking the kills, and add in those moments I was heartbroken it didn't drop and just hearthed out.

Not sure if this will help, but both times Anzu summoned the birds we killed them before Anzu unbanished. I believe someone else mentioned that as well. It's probably just a quirk, but it can't hurt to try! Also, you don't have to kill Ikiss first, we never did. After killing Anzu we just stealthed through the last mobs to kill Ikiss to keep track, but it opens the back door to reach Anzu quicker in case you wipe.

Mine just dropped yesterday :D Took some major pew pew, and lots of QQ
I'm a feral tank with around 35k unbuffed. I have mostly 232 and 245s, but they are mostly ungemmed as of now. (Just got them.)

It took me around 53-ish runs, and I felt like yesterday was the day. Clearing out the room was the hardest part (if difficult).
Kill the first boss there to save you to the instance in case you die.

After that just sneak up to the summoning room and take out the mobs group by group. TAKE YOUR TIME. The prophets DO fear which can cause you to run and pull other groups. It will be okay to pull one or two other groups but the constant fears and stuns and curses and Wing Buffets can kill you even with all your cooldowns on. The Shadowmages (I think) are the ones who turn into a little ghost and do some damage when they die. Don't fret, they don't do much damage and can't be targeted. They disappear after a few seconds. Then, place your orby thing and back up to a wall so you don't aggro him early. Wait for the bird spirits to go to stone, start casting regrowth on the Eagle. Once it's done cast it on yourself, then shift to bear and demo RAWR. Pew pew him until he start casting the paralyzing screech (or whatever it's called) before it completes he stops attacking, so recast a HoT on the eagle. Or the hawk if you are taking some hefty damage (it's fine if you are, you'll have time to heal yourself later on.). I made a macro to give me a better chance to not get stunned before I can shift back to bear. Pew pew him and keep a demo roar up, and maybe some barkskins here and there. Around 66% he shifts out and summons the Brood of Anzu adds, throw rejuvenation and regrowth on you and a regrowth on the eagle and and shift to bear and spam swipe. Maul, if you have the glyph for it to hit 2 targets. If you don't take them out in an X amount of seconds, Anzu rephases and starts attacking again. No problem, just a little higher damage to you. He summons more adds at 33%. So what? Screw them. PEW PEW.

He does sometimes cast spell bomb which is no problem if you are tank specced, 1k damage in a ding on armor. But, it is de-cursable, so if you need to, do so. Eventually he drops dead. Cross your fingers and loot. Yesterday he dropped a green and a blue instead of the usual epic and blue. I had a suspicion, so I pressed next on the little arrow. IT WAS THERE.

Well.... Four days after completing my druid quest during raid downtime I managed to snag this beauty.... Makes me feel bad for people like that guy w/ 350+ attempts in a previous post, or even my brother who had to try 96 days to get his... At least now we run around as two tauren druids on the ravenlord - pretty sweet lookin duo if ya ask me! Its nice riding a bird thats bigger than most of the mammoths I see around Dalaran!

I got it a few days ago. Am Resto, Boomkin but have gotten a few greed rolls for 219 and 232 feral tank gear. A few months ago I tried a few times with pretty bad gear - stealth to the room and then clear it. That was hard and usually didn't go well in one go without at least one death. Anyway, I went in this one time last week with this better gear and ~ 28k Health self buffed in bear form, a handful of health pots and a curiosity to see if I could clear the room and the boss with no death.

Well, the room was still a pain. Luckily I had read that Beserk clears fear (feral noob) and I used that whenever they feared me. And I did a much better job clearing the room making sure I only am fighting one group of 3-5 at a time.

I cleared the room and then slowly downed the boss. Looting the boss I got the mount. I was quite pleased. I can't see how many times I killed Anzu on the armory but I killed the boss before Anzu twice. I think that means I killed Anzu twice.

Of course I got Baron Rivendare Death Charger on the 4th kill. That boss you can see in your Armory.

Maybe I am just lucky getting mount drops.

I feel bad for people that have farmed these bosses > 100 times.

The originally animated creature was the plainstrider. Those animations were used as a starting point for raptors and were modified slightly. Anzu was not actually animated uniquely and shares animations with either the plainstrider or the raptor though I'm not sure which since he was done after I left Blizzard.

For my druid, it dropped today, after over hundred runs. I imagined the moment a bit more spectacular for me, I guess I still have to realize that the daily SH runs are over now. The only mount I really really wanted... I gave up once, and I am glad I didn't give up again.

Yes you can and you have to if you want to get the Moonstone to summon.

However, you do need the key for heroic Sethekk, which means you might have to quest a bit more or grind the normal version of the instances to get revered.

Hello, I've been killing Anzu since last christmas on a daily basis and still I havent seen a mount drop. Am I doing something wrong or Im just really unlucky?

So I basically go inside ungrouped, stealth to his room -> kill all trash (Is it necessary to kill all the trash btw?) -> summon him and kill him -> no profit.

Help!

Got it today after almost daily runs since mid-December (approx. 70 runs). Bear-spec with cat gear kills him quickly with a full heath bar when he dies.

Tell yourself to never give up if you really want this mount. I believe it's the prettiest land mount in the game and it's definitely worth the effort. Go for it daily and daily and daily. NON STOP! Grab a dedicated druid friend if possible. Good luck to all whose hunting for it. Cheers!

Mine dropped today. I'd estimate that I've done around 75 runs total since BC but only started keeping count recently. So after my 37th kill, it dropped. What's funny is that a guild mate who had farmed Anzu in resto for months had given up on it awhile ago up but decided to go in and kill him after I linked my achievement. Anzu dropped for him. Every druid in guild went nuts and decided to go into Sethekk to see if the luck would carry over. No one else got the mount to drop but 2 mounts in 1 day for the same guild is still pretty amazing.

Grats to myself and Kookie of <Dread> on Korgath. My continued wishes for all those who are farming this mount. Hopefully it will drop for you soon!

Also dropped for me first run =D

Ran it with a guildie that collects mounts. Told him I would duo it with him every day until he got it, but that he'd have to wait til I was 80 to make it easier, I just wanted to finish it at 70 for achievement and early SFF.

So we get there and struggle for about an hour (he's an ele shammy and was getting smacked around a bit, and my feral specced heals werent really amounting to much) and finally get to Anzu's room and clear it. I go down when Anzu has about 20% left, but my buddy is still able to finish him off (with my cheering, of course).

And the nice guy that he is, he rezzes me and doesn't even loot to see if it drops. Sure enough, when I looted, there it was. I pass on both, and he rolls a 100 on the mount. I figure it was good karma for helping me finish the questline, and getting me back up on my feet before looting the prize.

I would also like to add that as i was farming this item and duel boxing, i found it quicker to stealth through my druid, kill Ikiss then run my warrior up the side door.

Also note i did not read this in the previous comments, but i may have missed it - you are not required to kill all the packs in anzu's room, just the pack on the left (as if you were entering the room on a normal run) and then the two packs on the back right hand side.

My Druid and Hunter friends and I (Rogue) started farming for this mount six days ago. It dropped on the sixth kill, which was today. It lagged to show up for rolling a few seconds, so I didn't think it dropped at first, but then I nearly had a heart attack when it did pop up.

To make the summoning process easier, I would clear the summoning room. Kill the Talon King as well, as this opens the door, so if you would wipe on Anzu the run back would be much shorter. If you are going it solo, kill the King first, then pull 1 group at a time from the summoning room into the King's chamber to kill them. The groups have a fear effect, and it's troublesome to be feared into another group of mobs.

The mount dropped for me this evening. I believe it was the third time I had summoned Anzu. I realize I am very lucky. I wasn't expecting it to drop...ever. I have run Stratholme so many times for the Baron's mount that I guess I am a bit jaded. I just thought I'd give this a chance. I'm not trying to taunt anyone with my good fortune, just thought I'd tell those that still farm this, to keep farming, it WILL drop. Now if you'll please excuse me, I'm off to Stratholme.

I have been running guild members through and summoning Anzu for a mount chance. I realized that sneaking in by myself is the most effective way. First kill the Talon King to open the back door, then have your friend use the staircase to come up the back way. This is much more effective than a fight through the instance.

I just tried Anzu for the 1st time since TBC, Since I don't have any feral gear I just used my pally on another account. I had about 3700gs 1/2 tanking 1/2 dps gear(vendored my tanking set for some reason a while back).

It was pretty easy I was able to skip most packs, fighting Anzu I would switch to my druid when he went immune and cast rejuvenation on the eagle spirit and regrowth on pally. Took me about 20 mins for a run playing both characters.

In TBC I prob did about 4 runs and in Wrath I got it on my 1st try... time to start farming for the Baron's mount :P

I ran for 2 1/2 months with a guildie before he quit playing so about 70+ times. We would clear up to Anzu so i didnt have any ikiss kills to keep track. Finally I resorted to paying pug druids 100g a run with the offer of 5,000 if it dropped. I ran 11 times via killing ikiss and entering the back door and at least another 10 via clearing up to anzu's room. So in all i ran it about 90-100 times, maybe a little more since i have 139 badges of justice and only 11 are from ikiss and a few from the boss before anzu who we skipped 98% of the time unless he got accidentally killed.

Anyways my subscription ran out last night and i didnt get to go and i was sad i missed a day. Today my check cleared and even though it was like 2am server i decided to log on and try to find a druid to pug it with. Ended up running it with a random boomkin took us 5-10 minutes and he got 5,100 gold and i got my anzu mount finally after 3 months of horror. Im a mage btw so im so happy to have it finally.

Good luck to anyone else trying to get it! My druid friend it took him 3 months as well where as i know alot of people who it first 1-7 attempts. If you keep trying you'll def get it, take it from a happy mage!

Dropped on my second run. I was mentally preparing for a year of grinding Anzu.
As a feral bear I was surprised by the mobs and killed first time I was there, clearing Anzu's room. Have not done BC heroics in ages, forgot how nasty they are. The prophets fear, focus and kill them ASAP and try not to pull more than one trash pack unless you're massively overgeared. ILOTP heals nicely, but it doesn't heal for THAT much.

(Anzu was easy and boring of course. He is no threat to any bear.)

I had been farming this mount for a solid 8 months, every single day the first thing i would do would be to go to setthek halls and try to get the mount. Last week, it finally dropped, I was so happy i promised all my friends to take them to get theirs. Now I'm facing a great dilemma, whether which mounts will I use now. I have the Swift White Hawkstrider from MGT H and the Rivendare's Deathcharger. At the moment I 'm using a random mount addon because I can't choose XD Anyone running this instance, don't give up, it DOES drop, at the end it's just luck

Went into the instance as feral druid stealthed past first boss which i never did before. I noticed that in the area where you spawn raven-lord there was two prophets in almost everygroup i was like wtf maybe its a sign. And it was! the mount finally dropped.

I can also confirm it still drops in patch 3.3.3. After doing 67 runs, the pain is finally over. I can now enjoy this beauty, that i've wanted since it was released. And for the people still farming it, don't give up! I had my doubts about continueing after the first months, but with the right dedication you will get it! Funny fact: I had done ALL my runs right after i came home from school, but the day it dropped i decided to go out drinking instead. I got so drunk that i went home and fell asleep. Then i did the run later in the evening, and it dropped! So guys and gals, alcohol may help on the droprate! Or maybe not.. However, good luck to all of you both ingame and irl :)

So yeah in china we are stuck at level 70, so just now after a terrible Sunwell run, i decided to see how my luck was and it dropped! I rolled and won with a 25...which was just so funny. My chinese guildies were going crazy... third raven in our guild so far~~ Next is Tiger mount...78 runs and counting!

Can't really say how many times I've did it, I lost track.. I almost gave up on it too. Started off farming it with a rogue mate first, but he got bored easily so I had to do it on my own.. Took moonkin as offspec and farmed it for about 4-5 weeks alone, everyday. Been exalted with Lower City God knows how long now lol.. I probably killed Anzu less then 40-50 times, all together. Today it finally dropped, I just looted him expecting usual crap to drop and BAM - there it was! Looks awesome! Never give up guys, it might drop when you least expect it! Had to sign up here just for this because its been the craziest 2 weeks of WoW I have ever had, and probably will ever have...

First off I got Swift White Hawkstrider on the very first run (the 2nd time I ever did MGT on Hc)... I didnt even think about the mount, I just went there for rep as I am going for The Exalted, and the mount dropped. Pretty cool.

Then as I started to farm rep with Lower City I got a druid guildmate to join me once a day to summon Anzu in Sethekk Halls Hc. On the 4th day Reins of the Raven Lord dropped for me... Wow... I have heard of people farming this for more than 300 days and never got it. Pretty sick!

This alone is pretty crazy. At least I think so. But there is more:

I have been soloing Molten Core for 27 straight weeks in seek of Eye of Sulfuras, wich according to this site has a 2% droprate. And finally last week it dropped for me, and I was so happy to finally create my Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros! Then, on the next reset, I went into Molten Core again and brought with me a few guildmates who just dinged level 55. One of them is supposed to be a level 60 twink, and me being a blacksmither had already created Sulfuron Hammer for him long ago, so he only needed The Eye from Ragnaros. Yeah sure thing, I thought. Wont happen! Well guess what? It dropped! Back to back weeks I saw The Eye drop. The odds for this to happen is 2500 to 1. So if my math isnt completely off here I figure that you have to run Molten Core each and every week - for 96 years! - before you ever see The Eye drop in back to back weeks... Statistically that is. I was just freaked out! Could not belive it. I almost refuse to belive it happend.

Funny thing to see a level 55 obtain Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros after his very first Molten Core clear - and that he can't even equip it yet... :D

Oh and yeah, the very same run in Molten Core I also got Bindings of the Windseeker...

Swift White Hawkstrider 3% droprate - got it in 1 run
Reins of the Raven Lord 1.4% droprate - got it in 4 runs
Eye of Sulfuras 2% droprate - dropped 2 times in 2 runs!
And also Bindings of the Windseeker 3% droprate

All within 2 weeks. Hows that you think..?

after aproximately 190x run it finaly drop i stop counting around 120 so dont know it for sure but it was 1h before instance restart and i am so so happy i have dreams about this but never think it can happen :) i just want to tell everyone thx for comments like dont give up it gives me strength to go again and again so i pass it to other who still farming it NEVER GIVE UP "just like naruto says " :) GL

Been runing H Setteck Halls pretty much all day. Started about a month ago, and still nothing.
I was hoping to lose my usual unluckyness with this mount but yea.

Im a warrior so I had to find a druid willing to take me in there everyday and that wasn't an easy task.
I started with asking a guildie to run SH with me till I get the raven lord and that I'll be runing H MGT with her till she gets the White Hakstrider. She got the bird on the second run and never runed SH with me after this. Her reason was "Sorry don't have the time". :/
Finally, i started asking in trade everyday for a druid, paying 100g for the run. A nice druid that already got his wanted to run me for free till I get the magnificent raven. Unfortunatly, I feel like he is growing tired of the instance and that I will soon lose him too. :(

One thing I know is that the mount will drop the day I will stop "hoping" for it everytime I kill Anzu. That will take a loooooong time. I just hope that my druid pal will not abandon me anytime soon.

One of my guildie is runing H SH daily since WOTLK came out and he has yet to see the mount drop. Im scared to end up like him, lol.

Got mine a couple of hours ago, I'm still quite ecstatic about the whole ordeal, I'm guessing it was at around my 70'th run, I've got 56 official Ikiss kills, but I didn't kill him (trash pack before him gave me a abit of trouble the first times I tried killing them, so I gave up on that for a while.).
I just want to wish every single druid farming for it the best of luck, hang in there, you WILL get it in the end.
A couple of things that will surely help you with farming this mount;

1) ALWAYS keep a positive attitude. Thinking to yourself "Today I WILL get the mount!" will eventually help you.
2) Do it every single day, routinely. I spent about 12-13 minutes on every single run, that is killing all 3 bosses and all trash in Anzu's room.
3) Revel in the fact that when you get the mount, you can make a lot of people jealous. Worth it big time.

26.06.10. first solo run. Feral dps Druid (0/55/16) with offspec 5.5k gs. mostly 251ilvl arp gemed. in bear 29k hp and armor. selfbuffed. spamming Lacerate, Mangle, Maul. when he gets immune cast regrowth and reju and swipe birds. didnt use any CD's. no barkskin, berserk, Frenzie regen. easy as hell. trash nuked in cat (SR+swipe+barkskin+tigers fury) . I solo it with my 80 druid as much as I can. Been on and off doing, fed up at sometimes. I'd been doing a few runs where a guildie helped me on my mount quest. We went to SH MGT and ZG. I completely forgot about the white hawkstrider and that one dropped on the first try... Ironic, but Anzu is the one I'm really going for. I must've done about 50-60 runs now and no sign :(

I'll keep trying because more and more guildies are getting it and it's frustrating because they get it within their first 20 tries.

Make sure you kill Talon Ikiss first, if you wipe at Anzu you can take the short cut back if Talon is dead.

And don't stop just because it didn't drop on the first try!

Still runing this boss daily for the mount.

It hurts everytime I see someone on this bird in Dalaran. Yes, im jealous! I want this mount so bad! The first time I saw this mount was when I started playing WoW and I promised myself that I will get it.

I wish we didn't require a druid anymore for this, it's going to be devishly impossible (as a shadow priest) to find a consistent buddy to summon him every day, without wanting a chance at the mount as well. The one friend I could have relied on for this is letting his account with the druid expire, since he doesn't want to pay for both of his accounts anymore. Gonna go pull my hair out!

Got mine after the 22nd run, and my awesome druid friend let me have it. :)

There are definitely alot of Druids with this mount, so I differ somewhat being a paladin. If it just isn't dropping for you, don't give up! It will drop eventually.

Just want to repost from the Anzu thread - don't give up hope! I love this mount and I am notoriously unlucky, but I finally obtained this beauty two days ago. I am a holy priest who has a druid alt that I would use to summon Anzu (with a help of a guildmate to keep the instance ID active), and then swap to my shadow offspec and kill him. You CAN do it, if I can get this mount, then I know you druids can...keep working at it! You will be thrilled in the end. :)

Sucks that it can only run and not fly, which I find as a waste of time considering the grind time. Most will likely get this mount through help of a friend but will find that its purely an aesthetic mount because if you don't have a mount that moves at 100% by level 70, you might as well quit the game. Its cute to run around Dalaran with it, till someone flies in with their Drake and or Rocket, or Carpet, or Plane, etc.

Blizzad needs to make this mount fly so that Druids can find a real reason to go back to Sethekk Halls. Also the drop rate should be increased, needing a Druid on team as a requisite is a very bad decision.

Pros: Looks nice, 100% speed.

Cons: Very hard to get even with stealth due to very low drop rate, can't fly even though it's raven..., requires Heroic Sethekk Halls grind not a known place for lvl 80's to go and fight.

Finally dropped after 90 or so runs. 3 months of nonstop runs, never missed a single day.

It got much less demoralizing after I incorporated Ikiss into the run. Takes another 3 minutes, you don't have to kill the trash before him and you can kill him in cat form with enough dps, bear if you feel unsafe. He drops great vendor weapons so I could treat that daily run as a good 20-30g run instead of a pointless unlucky run.

Well anyway, the mount dropped for us the first time, after 3 runs. We couldn't believe our eyes. My friend won it, and I was very happy for him. Since he was the Druid, that payed 5k for this to happen. :)
We started to farm it daily, and after just 10 days (10 resets), we got it again. Yay for me. ^^

Got it today on my 13th run, after reading the previous comments I believe I am quite lucky. Boomkin/tree of life specs (with 232-245 gear), but the HoT-on-Eagle tactic works well, it's just a little longer—30-35 minutes refreshing Rejuvenation every 17 seconds, keep a good book at hand. So it seems half the people that post their progress here gets it within a week or two after :o coincidence? i think not!

Anyway, if anyone cares i can confirm that you CAN run heroic Sethekk Halls as level 60 :)

Took me 2½ hour to boost my (thunderfury wielding) 60 rogue twink from neutral to honored with lower city,
and have been doing Anzu almost everyday since. (been slacking a couple of days for various reasons, also its hard to stay excited about it every day) My talon king ikiss count on achievements says 71, so not counting the 5 runs i did for rep, i did my 66th try today, and still nothing.

As i experienced while getting thunderfury, dont give up no matter how pointless the runs feels. just put it into a routine and hope it wont take too many days. My rogue is already the char i've wanted ever since pre-tbc, but this mount will surely double my appreciation for it :)

Best looking land-mount, period!

I have now reached 104 runs, and since i wanna catch some more twink pvp before cata i've downgraded my account, and therefor put the farm on hold.
Im sad i didn't get my hands on this beauty, but i guess time will tell.

At the end i used my 80 rogue to stealth in and kill last boss, then switched to my death knight/druid/twink (trippleboxing) and took the shortcut up to last boss room and went from there. saved me some time anyway compared to killing my way to last boss on death knight :P

Actually, this time I want to post for luck.

I have fun checking the achievement date of everyone that has the Raven Lord. Everyday, I find at least one person that just got it the same day and when I see them, I think that its their fault if I didn't get mine again today. I can't help it, and it annoys me. /lol

Tomorrow, my server is going into a 24h maintenance so I'll probably miss my first run!
I did my 71th run this morning, getting sick of not seeing anything else than that cruel Belt of the RAVEN LORD.

I really hope that everyone that got this mount in less than 20 runs realise how lucky they are and that they use this mount forever. If not, your full of it. :D

EDIT: Got it for my druid on run 138 and 4 days later, my mage got it on his first run! Im just waiting for my warrior to get hers and all my main will be a proud owner of the raven lord! SO HAPPY! :D

Had to farm it for about 9 days if I remember right before it dropped. As a druid tank I would just stealth through the whole instance in cat form not agroing anything. The first boss is tricky cuz he can see through stealth, but if you hug the left wall enough you'll be fine. I'd clear 2 groups of trash in Anzu's room and then start the ritual to summon Anzu. During the fight when he'd go immune and summon his birds I'd usually get another group of trash along with the birds. Spamming maul and swipe made things go easy. Was so glad when it finally dropped. Still gotta farm 1st boss in karazhan (Attumen) and the 2 ZG bosses though.

I have been farming this since I completed my flight form quest well over a year ago. I have missed quite a few days, but there have been more days that I have killed it than I haven't. I have recently started killing Ikiss as well, for the vendor trash, as a few comments have stated.. but it is ever so disheartening to see someone in my guild (especially a non druid) get this mount after only a week(or less) of trying. And it keeps happening!

I'm main spec resto, but I think you guys are crazy, sitting in that room for 30 minutes healing the bird.. My offspec is kitty, and it's fairly geared. I stealth through the entire instance, and kill all but the one pack that doesn't pull as bear. Pull Anzu until his first immune phase in cat, popping beserk and trying to get off a 5CP ferocious bite before he manages it. Usually I can just get one bird phase if I get lucky crits.. But all I ever see is boomsticks.

I'm both proud and envious of fellow druids out there that have managed to farm this until it drops, I hope my turn comes soon.

This is able to be picked up by completing a quest. It is a Druid quest.. Once you complete it you will be able to get the mount called ''Reins of the Raven Lord''. After you completed the quest you will be able to do it dayli. When you get the mount you will recieve a Feats of Strenght.:) The drop rate on the Raven Lord mount is pretty low should be around 0,8%.

Not only the Druids are able to get the mount, but all other can also get it. Some Druids even wan't G for it. Seen some on my server wan't it for like 2500-15000G could be way more.

Ugh! I have tried to get this mount for so long I think it is no longer possible! Of course, it still drops, just not for me : ) I am a resto druid and I can't solo this so I have a deal with my guildies. Whenever it does finally drop, i get dibbs. The quest chain to be able to summon him was kind of a pain and if it weren't for me he couldn't be summoned anyway. Even though I will get it first regardless, I promised to take the guildie who was with me back and run it as many times as possible until they get it too. I feel it's a win/win situation, and everyone thinks that it's a fair deal. So, if there are any other resto druids out there that can't solo the thing, that's my recommendation. It also makes people a little more willing to help a sister out.

Edit: Still no mount! Was hoping for the Wowhead luck I've been hearing about but have yet to see : (

Maybe its got an improved drop rate, but i have seen it drop twice in one day, today in fact (10/09/10) i was doing the run on my druid with my hunter pal, it dropped and he won it, fair play i says and gratz to him.

so i log my main, and ask if any druids are doing the run, a guildie shoes me in and it drops again, this time i win it... so now me and my hunter chum are parading around dalaran like proper dandies

Just to confirm what others have already said, I was able to down the Raven Lord as a Resto last night. I'm specced more as a pvp build which means up to insect swarm in the balance tree, and improved barkskin makes doing some dps possible while in "regular form". The hardest part of the encounter is going OOM. Spell Bomb can play nightmares on your mana if you're not careful. And, as a resto, you're not going to be able to burn him down quickly. Make sure to remove the curse as soon as you see it. Even still, since a lot of your spells are instant, you're bound to set this off once and a while. Make sure to bring mana pots and use Instensity early as you'll most likely need it again before this fight is over.

I've now done 123 attempts to get this miserable pile of feathers and I'm getting really depressed. Killing him as a Bear tank is quite easy but still after this many runs I'm no longer killing Anzu for the mount, the thing that drives me more or less now is the burning hatred for this boss.

after about 20 runs without killing ikiss me and my friend started killing ikiss to keep track of our kills and for profit (and cause I can slack) :P

however, this %^&* is never gonna drop for my main, especially not after my bf stole it from my druid alt..
but I cannot give up, not until I have it on my main.. at the moment the only thing that drives me is the anger and hatred against this bird.

9/20/2010 Obtained on a 60 Warrior on a Vanilla account(Account without any expansions).

-This rare mount can be yours also on your 60 vanilla character if you:

-Use a 10-Day Burning Crusade Trial.

-Go to any Normal Mode Auchindoun Instance such as: Auchindoun Crypts, Mana Tombs, Sethekk Halls
-Keep running these instances for Lower City Rep until Honored status is achieved.

-Once honored with Lower City, head to Shattrath City and visit Nakodu the Lower City Quartermaster
and purchase the Auchenai key which will grant access to Heroic Auchindoun Instances.

-Now you must find a level 70 to 80 druid who can summon the Raven Lord. Preferably a level 80 feral druid who can solo the place for you.

-You only have 10 attempts if you get the key on your first day of BC Trial. If you do not get the mount during
these 10 days you must wait 90 Days for you BC Trial cool-down to use another BC Trial.

I have been farming this mount for just about a year now... I use my druid to summon it and hope it drops so my rogue gets it. Originally, I had been farming this on my druid for a few weeks with someone whom I thought was a friend, we had a mutual agreement that we both would get this mount. He wanted the mount just as bad as I did and of course, when we started doing the runs it was not even a month *I would say about two weeks in*, the mount dropped and we both needed and he won... I thought "Okay well I'll get it next no problem." Boy was I wrong... he got the mount... paraded around Dalaran and next day when I asked him if he was ready for the runs again so I can get it... he left the server. -.-

I have not seen this mount since it dropped and he won it. I believe it has a lower drop rate than what this page is stating it to be or I simply have horrible horrible luck. I have not missed a day since it dropped and I can handle so many boomsticks and talons to loot before I go literally insane. I basically hate this bird and this whole instance it's in and is the same for Baron and his mount which I have not gotten as well, with nearly 300 kills.

In short- Do not run with anyone, just solo it and the mount is yours. You can't rely on or trust anyone really when it comes to this mount or any other mount really and it's sad people are the way they are.

Finally dropped for my on my 58th recorded solo run. Probably around 75th total not counting times run in BC. I hadn't killed Ikiss habitually until later on.

I had begun to think it didn't exist anymore so I'm just posting this in case anyone is feeling the same way.

For all those Feral Druids out there who want to solo this... It's not too hard ^^
I haven't got it yet, mind you, but I CAN down him with 4.7k GS, Tank gear. :)

Tips are to just keep Feral Faerie Fire, Demoralizing Roar and Lacerates up, and mangle/Maul spam!
I used a dodge trinket at one point, and I used Berserk once I'd gotten impatient (It IS quite slow), but other than that, I still had Frenzied Regen., Survival Instincts and Barkskin free.

As I type this, I'm sat here waiting for a Blizz GM to contact me, as I can't actually loot the damn bird. ¬¬

This is getting extremely depressing. It wont drop (at least, for me it won't).

I've been running this daily and never missed a day. Im now at run 113 and still nothing while my friend that started 5 days ago got his an hour ago.

I feel like everytime I witness someone in guild chat receiving the achivement "reins of the rave lord" it reduces my chance of it droping for me.

I feel like im not killing Anzu for the mount anymore since it never drops and never will (for me).

Over 3 months of farming this place, I hate it, I hate Darkweaver Syth who I cant stealth past and who seems to hit just a little harder every time I come here.

I hate the mobs that need clearing before I can start fighting Anzu.

However today was a particularly aweful day with every fear the Sethekk Prophet's cast hitting me and running me around the room like a bad Benny Hill sketch, ultimatly leading to my death, which hasnt happened in a long time here.

So I get to the boss which was the usual (FF/Maul/Mange/Lacerate) x10 run across the run casting my HoT's and continue dancing with this big giant blue bird and...

... It dropped! :D over 120 runs and it finally dropped!

The moral of the story being, dont give up. Perseverance Pays!

I periodically come here just to check if the damn bird still drops.

I share my fellow druids' hatred for that boss. Currently at run 198 with no drop.

I'm honestly contemplating calling it quits once I hit 200 ...

It's just unbearable seeing every druid in Dalaran with it except me. I feel incomplete without it!

my hunter got this the other day me and my friends farm for this mount everyday all i have to say is that its well worth it not only does it look fantastic but it makes a fine addition to your mount collection (by the way only farmed for a week and saw it drop)

With patch 4.0.1 ~~it seems that~~ you dont need a druid anymore to summon the boss who drops this mount. The mount ~~prolly~~ still drops, this is just Blizzards way to make the mount easier farmable with another classes. ~~(the fact that the mount still drops needs to be confirmed even tho my guess is that it still is there if u are lucky)~~

I also can confirm that this still drops after the new patch 4.01. When I first heard didnt need a druid anymore, I went this morning and solo'd it easily on my warrior, dps gear til boss, then tank gear for boss. Very easily done on a warrior or plate class, lost maybe 4k of 48k hp during boss fight. Didnt use any cd's or buffs or anything. No luck. So it reset at noon server and I went back about 4pm, did same thing and the mount dropped! My gf and I have been farming this mount for a loooong time with her druid and my warrior. Now she will prob be mad but we will keep at it til she gets it too! I tried to solo this on my mage also, got to anzu easily, but I just couldnt take the beating killing anzu and only could get it to 50% Anyway it DOES still drop.

I just ran H Seth today and to my surprise Anzu was spawned with the room empty of trash. Additionally The final pull before the final boss was removed as well. Either Blizzard changed it so you no longer require a druid that has completed Swift Flight Form quest to summon Anzu, or I experienced a very odd glitch. Due to the removal of trash, I'm inclined to believe this was intentional.

As state under dropped by (Anzu), you no longer need a druid to summon him after patch 4.0.1. The room he is located in is fully cleared of trash and only he remains there so you no longer have to summon him. Edit: He only appears on heroic and official confirmation was found at: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=27291811693&sid=1#4 but is lost after the transfer of forums to battle.net.

For anyone wondering, this boss is fairly easy for an enh shaman to solo. Lowest I ever got on the boss was ~60% hp. Just make sure you use your MWs for healing, and having the stoneclaw glyph helps. Sadly I wasn't one of the lucky ones to have it drop on their first try.

I'd been farming Anzu for a few months earlier in the year, but i gave up after at least 50 - 60 runs.

So last Saturday i decided to start farming again (this was before i knew Anzu was farmable without a druid), so i brought my mage and my druid(2nd acc), when i got there i noticed Anzu was already summoned with no trash in the room, so i thought it was some sort of bug when 4.0.1 was deployed, though i still brought my Druid everyday.

Saturday it didn't drop, Sunday it didnt't drop, Monday it didn't drop, Tuesday it droped! and so did my jaw. Yes, i got it on my 4th run (or 64th if you like), very happy. !

You can solo without a druid , but it has to be on HEROIC. Cannot be summoned on regular without a druid in your party. When you walk in you should see the emotes of three spirits. (the birds). Go to the room, trash is cleared there already. Defeat boss and claim sweet loot!

As of patch 4.0.1 you do not need a druid to summon Anzu, he is just standing there in Sethhek Halls.

As far as it seems, the droprate has been increased too, I got mine in the 4th or 5th run.

My first attempt since it can now be done solo, and it drops.
After months of attempts and begging and rather unspeakable acts to Druids for tag-alongs, not to mention having to farm it for not one, but two drops... and I get it my first try alone.

Almost -has- to be done as Demonology. The Felguard has no problem holding together and killing the boss on his own. Spec into Health Funnel, drop your Hand of Gul'Dan during the bird swarm phase and it's a breeze.

EDIT: The pulls are obviously the hardest part of this instance. I can guarantee at least six pulls of pairs or more, the felguard must tank these. Take it slow.

I was extremely lucky, i just got the mount after three runs. It Indeed does drop since 4.0.1. I stealth-ed passed all the mobs until i got to anzu. When i did get there i Owned him. For people that never done it, he has this spell where 10 birds come out to fight him. You have to kill the birds before u can damage anzu. the sort of shield him, so if u kill 5 birds, i think u can do 50% of damage to him. Well i hope the best for you all who try this. Safe Huntings

It's possible to solo this as a fire mage.

BASICS:
The fight is broken into three Anzu phases, separated by two points where he summons adds. The idea is to burn Anzu down quickly in the first phase, then use your mirror images on the second phase, and finally use combustion and ice block on the third phase.

Start off by using mana shield, along with an an on-use trinket if you have one. Start at maximum range with a pyroblast, then scorch, and then living bomb. All three will hit at the same time, doing as much damage as possible before the start of the battle. Fireball him while he runs at you, then blink away and DPS him until he goes invincible. Bandage up and recast mana shield, then AoE the birds.

Once all of the birds are dead, use your mirror images, which will keep Anzu off of you for the whole second phase. Once he goes invincible again, use a glyphed evocation, which should put you at around full health and mana, then recast your mana shield before AoE-ing the next wave of birds. Try to put some distance between yourself and Anzu while you do this.

Finally, recast mana shield and use your other on-use trinket if you have one, then DPS Anzu for as long as you can. Once he takes you down to about half health, cast combustion and then ice block, and he should hopefully die before the ice block wears off.

COMPLICATIONS:
Watch your chat log/debuffs carefully for Spell Bomb so that you can remove it immediately. Even though Remove Curse is a spell, you can cast it on yourself without triggering the Spell Bomb effect.

You might want to wear a PvP trinket so that you can get out of one Paralyzing Screech, unless you're a human and can use your racial instead.

If you haven't cleared the two guards next to the entrance, make sure that you don't get too close during the fight, especially during the second phase. If you use your mirror images on that side of the room, they can aggro the guards from pretty far away.

Can a level 60 enter a level 70 heroic? im considering making a level 60 nilla twink and i could just have a friend clear seth halls a few times while im dead but not released (avoid exp but gain rep) till im honored and buy the heroic key, but will i be able to enter the heroic or even the regular version at 60?

I hate to write this and I feel bad for the people who have been farming this a while.
A DK friend got this on his 2nd run since 4.0.1. I thought I'd give it a shot too and it did drop on my 3rd run. I was really suprised to see it drop that fast. I mean I have done more than 200 Baron runs without success and I yet have to see a ZG mount. The drop rate must be bugged or something.

I have never been in this instance before, then read about how you can get the mount now.
I also wanted to raise lower city(tabard achievement), so went there on heroic.

I died several times getting the hang of it. As a previous said, some of the trash seems harder
than the bosses (particularly sometimes when I had two Ravenguard, or whatever.) This was
on my level 80 hunter, beast mastery, with some whatever gladiator's mail and other stuff.

Then I did finally kill him, and the boss, getting the heroic achievement for the boss. No mount, though ;)
I will try again today.

9 months. Everytime I played, usually 5 days a week, I ran this on my druid to get that mount. It took 9 months.

Today I ran it on my pally for the first time, it dropped. I was happy, but at the same time annoyed. Maybe its karma for killing the guy a couple hundred times and getting nothing on another toon. Its just too bad that this mount is going to be as common as a racial mount.

Killed this butthead every day since I hit 70 back in TBC. On the fateful day of October 18th of 2010 it finally dropped for me.

Over a year of kills and it FINALLY drops for me. I love it. I'm so glad I didn't give up. Don't give up, you'll think the same thing when you finally get it.

I finally got my mount today after almost a year of trying. I started doing it daily for about 3 months straight and basically gave up. I would run it maybe once a week, then it turned into once a month. Since this new patch I have been running it daily and today, the mount finally dropped. Good luck, it will happen eventually.

Anzu is soloable by a rogue with 6k+ GS or else with the stuns etc its kind of a wipe.

I just got my Raven Lord today, it took me roughly 30 kills, so if you havn't got it yet, just keep killing Anzu once a day and it'll drop for you. Good luck :)

I'm sure the following information has already been posted, but I'll repost in a concise manner what I feel is important to know.

This mount will only drop (*rarely*) on the heroic mode of the boss Anzu in Sethekk Halls, located in the Auchindon area of Terrokar Forest.

The heroic mode of this instance, like any heroic dungeon in TBC, requires you to possess in your keyring a key. In order to purchase this specific key, you need to be honored with the faction Lower City from TBC. Once you have done this, you can go purchase the key from the vendor located in, go figure, Lower City in Shattrath City.

Anzu used to require a druid in the group on a specific stage of a quest line in order to summon him. This is no longer required, he's just sitting there waiting for you.

None of his mechanics have changed.

The boss fight, imho, was actually easier than some of the trash. I won't go into specifics on the encounter, but I will say that as an elemental shaman well geared, I did need to heal myself several times.

I mentioned trash. Specifically, pay *careful* attention to anything named 'ravenguard' or any mob that casts spells. They will fook you up quickly. The ravenguards actually succeeded in killing me on one occasion, their enrage is *mean*.

Think that's everything that's important to know.

I've been after this mount ever since I found out about its existence and I've gone through those retched halls way too many times to count. I was fortunate enough to see it drop when I was on my paladin. However, I lost the roll to a mage who was helping me. Since then, the Reigns of the Raven Lord has only been but a myth to me.

After leveling up other alts and getting better gear I found out that I could solo this bad boy on my Deathknight! Realizing this, I farmed Anzu religiously. Expecting my chances to be greater now than before, I thought that it would only be a matter of time before I could finally sit on this highly sought after bird. I was wrong. Kill after kill i'd only get the belt or some other crap that would discourage me. I'd occasionally get epic gems and nearly crap myself thinking that I finally got the mount...but knowing my horrible luck on my deathknight, it wasn't.

While all this was going on I was dabbling with my druid and decided to see if he could take on anzu (being that he doesn't need to clear anything to get to him anymore). To my surprise, I could do it in my resto set lol. It took hella long and it was annoying as hell but it was doable. Now I found out that I could do this on 2 of my characters which means double the chances of getting it!

Weeks turned into months of me not getting anything and like most of you out there, I felt like giving up. What sucks even more was that my friend who would solo it on her paladin, got it right before she was going to meet up with me to do some BC stuff. Of course when she told me, my heart sank a little but I somehow managed to brush it off...until she later told me the next day that her druid got it too. I was about to punch a nun in the face when I found that out!

Seems like everyone was getting this mount but me! Whenever I would check people's achievement for it I would discover that it was within a month or week when it dropped for them. It would drive me crazy. When was it going to be my turn?

Then, lastnight a miracle happened and it finally dropped! I sat there and stared at it for about two minutes before looting it. I was so shocked that I felt it would rob me of my moment if I clicked it into my mount inventory. So, I waited lol. Whats even stranger was that after I got the raven lord I got the Razzashi Raptor mount from ZG right after. Thinking that was the end of my lucky streak for the night, I went on my lock to see if I could solo MGT and got the Swift White Hawkstrider off Kael'Thas. I couldn't believe my luck. However, the one thing that annoys me is that none of this amazingness happened to my Deathknight. My druid gets all the stuff my dk wants (ex: HH mount, Brewfest Ram, yadda yadda...).

But first, I am really surprised at the terrible quality of the comments on this page, as well as the staggering number of them. No one cares if you got your mount to drop on your first run, or after two years of farming. Stop creating hundreds of comments that help no one else, are entirely self-serving, and make it hard for people who are actually looking for information to find it! That is not the purpose of this website! If you want emotional support, an ego stroke, or to be congratulated, call your mother.

Please do your part in downvoting all the outdated, redundant, useless, and/or self-serving comments on this page. Sermon over, on to the FAQ!

Fundamental Information:

Sethekk Halls is in Auchindoun, the massive ring South of Shattrath in Terokkar Forest. There are four instances here, but the one you want is directly East of you if you are standing in the middle. Anzu is only there on heroic mode, and thus can only be killed once a day. Now that mounts are account bound, it would be wise of you to all your alts that can solo the instance here daily to increase your odds of the mount dropping.

Instance Layout and Trash Concerns:

You no longer need the key to enter the instance on heroic, and thus don't need Honored with Lower City anymore as of 4.2. Since the majority of people farming this mount are level 90 and have at least one brain lobe, nothing in this Burning Crusade dungeon should challenge you. Most trash can be skipped, and should be in the interest of time. However, I find that just wrecking some packs instead of tip-toeing around can save time. Some translucent mobs drop mind control totems, which may be concern at lower levels, and you'll probably aggro the pairs of mobs guarding the doorways, but other than that there are no other annoyances.

The Bosses:

The two Arrakoa bosses are easier than the trash. The first boss summons elementals that despawn when he dies. Anzu is the second boss you come across (more info about him in a bit). The last boss teleports around and does a rather pretty (but useless) AoE. Once you kill this guy, a door opens to your right that takes you to the beginning of the instance and the entrance/exit should you want to continue doing things in Outland after your farming run.

Anzu, the second boss/the one that drops the mount, hits harder than most mobs in the instance. His stun or silence might hit you occasionally, and he banishes himself at roughly 66% and 33% health until you kill the birds he summons. Once he is banished, he gains a new ability called Spell Bomb, a debuff that damages you when you cast a spell, and most importantly, scales with your Int/Spell Power, meaning you might actually hurt yourself to a significant degree if you don't pay attention. To make it easy, he will also whisper you, warning you that you have the debuff.

The drop rate for the mount is 1-2%. Nothing modifies that number. Not your number of kills, not some random theory you have, nothing.

For stealth classes that farm this mount as often as possible, I've gotten this down to a 5 minute run in-and-out so I have a couple small tips to speed things up:

In the main first room there are 2 Sethekk Guards that MUST be killed for the exit door to open once the Talon King is killed. If you do not kill them the door will not open and you have to run all the way back through the instance to exit(or simply hearth out).

For the first boss, I chose to kill him since it takes less than 30 seconds as a feral Druid but if you want to stealth past him I recommend getting out of stealth and running around him as his stealth aggro is much larger than his normal aggro to a level 85 player.

I'll skip any explanation regarding the Raven Lord because methods to kill him fill this thread to the brim already.

Killing the King is extremely easy, I know, but after a lot of testing it seems that the back door will GLITCH and NOT OPEN if you don't let him finish casting his SECOND Arcane Nova spell. This happens even if the guards are dead or even if the whole instance has been cleared so let him finish the cast, then you can happily finish wtfpwning his face off.

Even though it's quite easy to run through Sethekk Halls at level 85 now, as a mage I found it to be quite tedious and unnecessarily time consuming if I took care of the trash that litters the pathway to Anzu. So, as an Arcane Mage, I found that I could easily run through the dungeon without having to kill anything except for Anzu by simply managing my uses of Mana Shield, Frost Nova, Blink, and one Invisibility.

At the beginning, throw up a Mana Shield and run through the beginning guards. You can usually avoid pulling aggro on the first hallway, and even in the second room up until the guards at the start of the ramp. Once you pull intial aggro, Frost Nova your new attackers, Blink, and here starts the fun part of the run. Keep your Mana Shield up as much as possible, and Blink/Frost Nova once it's off cooldown. These are your basics. Improved Blink is nice, but not necessary.

Now, you should have a rather large group following you now, but here's where the the mobs actually help you to get through the dungeon. The Time-lost Controllers will Mind Control you, making you friendly to them and sending most of them back running to the beginning of the dungeon. You'll keep aggro with the Controllers and some of the nearby mobs, but it will keep less mobs attacking you.

Don't bother with Darkweaver Syth, since you will still have aggro form other mobs. Continue Blinking and running.
In the next room, you will get Mind Controlled, and it's a good thing. This will reset Darkweaver Syth and you'll end up with very few enemies following you. Continue running until you get to the entrance to the next room.

Now I had Glyph of Invisibility so I was able to pop Invisibility at the start of the room, but if you do not, run past the Avain Rippers for a bit, then pop Invisibility. You should easily make it past the rest of the enemies, drop all aggro, and end up next to Anzu.

This method allowed me to make very fast runs through the dungeon, and made farming Anzu a breeze. Just teleport out when you've finished, hopefully with your new mount. :D I just got him today, and I hope this was able to be of some assistance to you all. I wish all you mages and other mount lovers good luck at getting this beautiful bird!

Been farming this since approximately when I dinged 85, so I've only done say 20-ish runs non-stop, but I also farmed it for a while on my warrior with a paladin friend who healed me and agreed to pass (Lucky for me he doesn't care about vanity, eh?) - So total across my characters I've probably done about 200 or so runs.
There was around a month when I didn't farm for him just after cataclysm's release because I was leveling characters and just generally getting used to the new WoW.

But yeah, I'm a protection paladin and it's easy to do solo now:

Buffs: Give yourself Might (Kings is worse, you need the attack power), Seal of Insight, and Retribution Aura.
Flasks and/or Food: Not necessary but you can use them to speed up your kill speed, survival is so easy right now.

When you go in be sure to IMMEDIATELY run to the corner directly in front of you so that the two Arakkoa walking towards the corner you just passed don't engage, and then be sure to dip back so the Arakkoa and his bird pet don't engage either, that's those two mobs skipped straight off the bat.

You have to kill each mob in the doorways but other than that you can generally skip every mob, like in the first room, walk through the middle of it and turn left and walk between the two mobs, there is no problems evading them at all in my experience, and kill the two mobs at the doorway on the OTHER SIDE of the doorway, or you risk aggroing the pack near the door which you just skipped.

You can choose to skip Darkweaver Syth, which is faster, but I kill him because I'm starting to hate that instance and he's satisfying to kill. Each to their own and all that.

The Anzu fight itself is simple, start off by activating Avenging Wrath and hit him with 3 Exorcism's and an Avenger's Shield to pull, it's the highest damage output pull you can make. Then hit him with a judgement and use Arcane Torrent (If you're a blood elf) or Divine Plea, to get your mana back that much faster.

You'll be wanting to focus on using Shield of the Righteous on him for damage output, your Seal of Insight will keep you alive easily without the use of Word of Glory. You can ignore the curse he places on you (I forget the name), but be sure to know when he's casting the stun, and throw down a Consecration as he's casting it, so that you are constantly dealing damage.

When he banishes I'd advise you stand away from him so that you can see all the birds you have to kill and then move away from their corpses when he comes back to engage, just so you can see his body easier when it comes to looting.

There's not really that much more advice I can give on this fight as an 85 Protection Paladin, because it is extremely straightforward in both the getting to him and the killing itself.

Very easy to solo as a Warlock or any class at 85.

I found it best to solo as Demo for the AoE but I started farming it as Destruction.

The first pack you can run past, same with the 2nd you can but depending on where you're they path they might aggro when you get the ones guarding the door.

In the first big room its easy to manoeuvre past all the packs but I got the guards at the end so it opened up the door once I finished (I do H MgT after so its quicker to go to Shatt and take the port that Org->UC->Fly over).

The only packs you have to fight as a non-stealth class are the ones guarding the Doors, on the first boss I just pull them with me to the boss then blow all my AoE/CDs to quickly kill the boss and the surrounding trash/adds.

After that just bypass most mobs, the only ones I had to kill were the birds but a quick hellfire got rid of them quickly... make sure to stop casting it so you don't waste time pulling additional mobs.

Anzu is easy but annoying to fight due to the Paralysing screech (Is this possible to LoS? I tried it once but he got me before I got passed the door). I just pop meta+demon soul and do my normal rotation till he summons the first pack of birds then I summon my Infernal and use Immolation Aura. Next pack of birds I used Felstorm and my Infernal was still up to quickly burn them down.

According to some sources the last boss has to do his explosion at least once to open the door but it's bugged and not opened (even with killing the guards). I just let my felguard whack at him till he used it.

Easy to solo, hope this helps people make their runs quicker and they get their mount. I'll be continuing to farm for my White Hawkstrider (58 kills so far)

This is now ridiculously easy to solo even as a Arcane Mage. I've been doing runs everyday that take about ten minutes. On Anzu just blow Mirror Image and Arcane Power and we he turns immune run to the middle of the room and spam Arcane Explosion until the birds go down. Then burn him down. That being said, I don't think I'll ever be coming back when this finally drops.

I have been going for this for only about 2 weeks, still no drop but I have a question, a possibly dumb one. As a hunter, I am usually able to hit Anzu hard enough to make him skip his second bird phase and just kill him right there. Does anyone know if this affects his drops or is everybody else doing this too? Thanks

Got it today after around 40 attempts. It was my 50th mount so I also bagged myself the Albino Drake :]

Needless to say my guild went mental when they saw both the achievements pop up simultaneously! I'm now a very happy mount collector and ride round any ground only area with my Raven Lord :]

Got it the day before Christmas the 24th. Totally i had been runing instance for about 8 times, very easy to solo as druid.

90+ runs on my druid (some at 80 a few at 85) and still no drop. I leveled my rogue to 85 and it dropped on my second run. The random number generator is enough to make you angry, sometimes.

Drops of Anzu in Heroic Sethekk Halls. You don't need a druid to summon Anzu anymore. He just sits in the room before the last boss.

This is a very unique looking and beautiful mount! I'm so glad it's mine.

The boss is very easy to solo at 85. What I did as a shadow priest is ignore all the adds (waste of mana). Fear them and use shield every time you can.

Just providing closure on drop rate posts.

Anyone interested in the likelihood that this will drop on X runs should check out this site on Binomial Distribution.

After 365 runs, the likelihood that an drop of 1% chance will have occurred AT LEAST once is 97.4%.

However, if persons A makes two runs, gets the mount and stops running. The chance that the drop will have occurred AT LEAST twice after 367 runs (365 for Person B and the two that Persona A contributed) is only 88.2%.

With sufficient sample sizes, a drop with a 1% chance will tend to have occurred around once for every 100 runs. For example, for the drop to have a 99% chance to have occurred AT LEAST 5000 times, the number of runs is approximately 550000, or 110 per occurrence.

Of course, probabilities are never a guarantee, but an estimation. Sometimes it helps to have a horizon to help temper patience. So don't get discouraged, just be willing to make 100-365+ runs. Of course, this is assuming that the reported drop rate is somewhat accurate.

If you've gone that far, you've encountered a situation more rare than having the drop occur--and that's pretty lucky if you look at it the right way.

I have killed Anzu ever since you needed a druid to summon him and the mount still has yet to drop. My friend ran it twice and got it...

The only reason i subscribe to WoW now is to get this mount.

The door after the last boss is only partially bugged. if you kill the boss too quickly it wont open. dps him slowly and after like 30 seconds you should be clear.

On another note of dps'ing too quickly, It is possible to defeat Anzu without any add phases or even just 1 phase if your dps is strong enough.

Here's a hunter soloing tip. It's not a challenge at all to solo it as a hunter. However, the mind control totems can get quite annoying. If you get hit by one, you're going to attack your pet. Depending on various factors, you could also kill your pet and be forced to reset the fight.

An extremely easy way to avoid this is to MD your pet and let loose a few multi-shots and immediately feign death. All the mobs will then be tagged (in case you're actually looting mobs) and your pet shouldn't have any problems finishing the fight. If you think the pet might, throw a mend pet just before you feign.

Here's another related tip. Before you get back up, be sure to have your pet kill any remaining totems once the mobs are all killed. It's unlikely you'll die to your pet (though it can happen). But it will just waste time and slow you down if you have to wait for the totem to wear off.

I'm sure other hunters that solo a lot know of this trick. But this tip was intended for those that don't. Good luck on the mount.

Got it yesterday with my enh shaman, you can skip most trash, the whole run takes about 5-7min I think. I've only been farming it for few weeks and I don't think I went there more than 20 times. I suppose I am just lucky :)

Killed Anzu for 15th time today after started farming it on daily basis.
The loot window had a "Down Arrow" for next page! Excitement overtook me, I couldn't believe how lucky I am. I held my breath and my shacking fingers clicked the mouse button, My eyes eagerly searching for the purple line saying "Reins of the Raven Lord"...
What I saw next shivered my spine and a cold sweat appeared on my forehead.
On first page was A Primal Nether, A green BOE, A grey Junk item, A Blue drop and and epic gem...
And on the second page...
A Light Feather!

Moral of the story.... "Keep Farming, !@#$%!"

Just posting to confirm that it does indeed still drop, I received it yesterday on my 42nd kill.

Hold out hope, it may be a low drop rate, but it's easily one of, if not THE most unique ground mount in game.

I am a hunter, lvl 85. Me and my boyfriend (pally) spent like an hour getting to honored with lower city so we could get the key for heroic Halls of Skethis (spelling*) When we both got the key - we both went in, sepratley. On our first run thru he did not get the mount and I did. It was 1:30 server time. I have a theory that the rare drops are on a "timeframe" somehow, just like the rare spawns. Like the 1% means 1% of the day, not 1% of the # of times you have ran thru. Just because you run it 50 times in a row doesnt mean that that you kill the boss during the correct moment in time. Any thoughts on this subject? Anyone to back or disprove my theory?

Just got this mount after 2 months of farming. It's still out there, I encourage everyone to go run for it! The gold earned from vendor items dropped in the dungeon is a plus that can be quite a handsome amount after a while of farming.

A tip for transportation:

As of 4.0.6, the two guild cloaks that port you to Stormwind/Orgrimmar don't share a cooldown. One is 4 hours, one is 8 hours. I set my hearthstone to Shatt and just used both of those to get back to Stormwind. It made it nice to not have to worry about finding a mage.

You can hearth to Shatt, go kill Anzu, hearth again.. and go do H MGT for the hawkstrider.

I am posting this because I was a long time non believer. Also I hated hearing about people who got it on their 3rd or 15th try.

I just got this last night 4/19/2011 after over 200 kills of Anzu. I just want others to know to keep the faith. It can and will drop.

Last night when it dropped was one of the few times that I was just plowing through mindlessly and saw the Purple loot. I almost dismissed it as the BC epic gem, tilll I took a Triple take.

After about 70-80 Anzu kills.. It finally dropped.
Dungeon is idd quite easy and you can avoid almost every NPC, even the ones at the doors (use the rocket belt thingy).
Just try and try and try again.. it will eventually drop.

After farming over a span of 1.5 years on 3 different characters, this mount finally dropped for me on my druid (been farming on her for only 11 days). At 85, fighting Anzu is a joke as a feral druid! I haven't even tried lately on the other two, as my druid has become my new main.

It's pretty much just stealth in and hope it drops. Feral charge > Ravage > Mangle > Rake > Rip, and swipe on the adds. Cake.

This has got to be some sort of joke. I've farmed this every day since I got back for Cata in January. No drop.
I've farmed this mount for 3 years and seen it drop twice only at level 80. Both times I obviously lost the roll.
Whenever I kill Anzu and get anything other than the Raven Lord I legitimately get angry and want to punch a Blizzard employee. I log on everyday ONLY to do the mount run.

Dropped off Anzu after almost a solid month of heroic Setthekk, so yes, it still drops off him.

Granted, my Draenei looks a bit...overweight for him. =P

nope... it was at the bottom.. a bop gem, a bop blue, then the reigns (dropped on third run. As an 85 you only have to kill like 10 mobs total to get to anzu)

I have been very lucky this week! Sunday evening the rare mount Fiery Warhorse's Reins dropped for me and then Monday evening The Reins of the Raven Lord also dropped, I call it luck!

I have been farming for the Raven Lord for a month, so don't give up! It will drop for everyone one day.

My partner and I had been running the instance daily for 14 conseceutive days before Anzu finally dropped the item we were there for, My partner won the roll on it, next day we went back to try for me, Anzu must have been feeling generous, lol, or just my lucky day ^^, he dropped the mount again, this instance is worth taking the time to clear all trash for all drops and the patience to keep on at Anzu richly paid off

as of 4.2, you will no longer need to be Honored with Lower City to get the key for the heroic version of this instance. This applies to all dungeons that requires a key to access. Regardless if it's Normal or Heroic.

I was just doing my daily farming of Anzu. Once I killed him... her... it... whatever I realised the reins did not drop. So I went off and decided to kill the Talon King. And of course, Terrok's Shadowstaff (which atlasloot says has a .16% drop) dropped for me. This is when I hate WoW.

Just got mine today around 3pm (est) on Zul'jin server. This was about my 8th or 9th try, feel a little lucky I didn't have to farm for 6 months or more. I had also just completed the quest chain in Un'Goro Crater to get the Venomhide Ravasaur ground mount where you have to feed the hatchling for 20 days - two cool ground mounts in the same day, WooHoo!

Don't give up on the Raven Lord mount, lot of other people have been posting they got it also - keep trying! :)

Took me 52 kills on my Druid to get this mount. I'm now helping a friend of mine farm it and she's been killing Anzu for about a year and a half, almost every day, and NOTHING! I feel so bad for her. I really hope it drops for her soon because after that long, she deserves it.

Today was my 426th Anzu kill that I have documented since early Burning Crusade. I have been on 4 servers since I started, known 17 people who have gotten a Raven lord, and gone through around 8-12 druid friends that were daring enough to help me. Of the 5 man groups I ran it with back in the day of 70 they managed to have 4 drop, without me ever being there. I have been fortunate to never lose a roll, but to never see a drop either.

Since they made him a druid free kill, I have managed to kill "that damn druid bird" almost every day, to the point the day isn't complete if I don't. Sometimes it is all I do in a given day of WoW. The comment section of wowhead is generally either A) omg I got it no tires at all, aren't I so lucky? or B) I've stacked this damn druid birds bodies so high you could drown and I want to cry. I happen to be in the B category, but I mean not to come and cry about it.

Through the years, Killing that damn druid bird has given me something to do with friends, has made me some friends, made for some amusing circumstances and interesting stories, and made a time of the day for us all to catch up and enjoy. Tomorrow I'll kill that damn druid bird for the 427th time, will it drop? Don't know, after 200 times it stops being surprising one way or another, and I don't really mind. I'll go and remember the days of old again, and the people long gone, and that, is almost more than the mount itself.

That'll do, damn druid bird, that'll do.

Long time farmers, don't give up. It's dramatically easier to get now.

I didn't have the hellish nightmare grind for this mount, actually. It dropped at my thirty fifth run, I think. What was particularly annoying to me was that I started running MT for the hawkstrider at around the same time, and it took three more weeks to get that one. I think that fits one of the definitions of Irony.

Anyway, here's my advice: Do something else that sucks less in tandem with your Raven Lord farming. For example, MT is so much easier than Sethekk Halls, and it has good money in it. Or grind for the polar bear mount. Same drop rate, you just need to do a quest chain up to a certain point. After that, it's just one daily for a shot at the bear. Just do something else that is less frustrating when you don't get the mount. Hell, eat a taco with marshmallows if that will do the trick. <.<

I got off easy with only 29 runs before my reins dropped this morning. Though considering this was after about 230 baron kills to get my deathcharger and about three months of killing Kael for his white chocobo, I'd say it evened out.

That spellbomb is still nasty even at 85 if you play a caster and aren't paying attention, though. If you're expecting him to cast it soon, best to just sit tight and wait for it so you can dispell it rather than blow yourself up.

Also to people swearing Anzu spawns on normal, either you've been in a glitched instance or it was some sort of freak occurrence because I lost track of the number of times I ran the place half-awake, just to get to his room and find it full of arakkoa and had to run out and set it to heroic, cursing all the way.

If you're farming this mount do NOT read the comments on WoWHead because they will anger you from all the "OMG MY FIRST RUN I GOT IT!" comments. This is my story and a video of me finally getting it.

I started farming this back in LK when you still needed a druid to summon it. Saw it drop twice and lost the roll twice. I was known as the guy who would, on a daily basis, spam trade with "LF druid for Sethekk Halls mount run. Will pay." Never saw it drop again in LK. I quit before ICC came out and started up again a couple months after Cata came out. I hit 85 and started farming this guy again. I'd farm daily for a couple months then stop because I got bored. I actually managed to obtain my White Polar Bear mount quicker.

Anyway, 600+ runs later (that's right. You read that right. SIX HUNDRED PLUS RUNS LATER) I finally got this mount on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 on Burning Blade (US). After that many runs I got used to it not dropping and epic gems dropping for the trolols so at first I dismissed it until I took a triple take and absolutely freaked out. I started recording the video about 5 seconds afterwards and the link at the bottom is my reaction.

My theory is is that Anzu knew I'm a mount farmer and was like "You have 114 mounts. You don't need another one you achievement %^&*." And decided not to drop it. After my 600+ runs he was like, "Holy. Fine. Here. Have it. Just get a life already." So this mount will DEFINITELY be replacing my Zulian Tiger for a little while. And to all those still farming, good luck. :) I just hope you don't have to endure as many runs as I did.

So I've been meaning to go after this mount for quite a while now but never got round to actually going for it. I think this mount really suits Druids so late last night I found some time and gave it a go.

I traveled to Sethekk halls and set the dungeon to heroic. You don't need any keys or high rep anymore so you can just go straight in to the dungeon which is located in the east wing of Auchindon in Terokkar forest. I then stealth kittied through all the mobs, got caught by a boss on the first floor with his stealth detection because I'm an idiot, I killed him quick and carried on up the stairs and down the corridor which led me to Anzu in his chamber.

I switched to Boomkin and nuked him, he phased out and sent a flock of ravens after me a couple of times but they were really easy to take down. The fight took a little over a minute and I only lost about 45% health and my gear isn't even that good as my first spec is Resto.

To my luck the Raven Lord dropped first time even though the drop rate is 0.8%

I thought at first maybe the drop rate is higher because I was a druid who had just got epic flying and never done the instance before but my guildies swore blind it was just great luck!

Definitely worth the farming. I farmed for it back in BC for awhile and gave up shortly after no luck.
Recently decided to run the instance every day/every other day, and got it on roughly my 8th run.

so, i ran it last night just for fun, (after taking a long, long break from farming it) and it dropped. needless to say, my guild let me know how they all felt, hehe

heres where it gets weird, i ran it again this morning, promising my friend itd drop, and it did. two mounts in two days, i honestly dont know how this was possible, but it legit happened. anyone else have some weird drop rates like this?

Last year on 31/10 i found 2 of them in ONE hour!
on my warrior and on my priest ( for both of them it was the very first run )
But on my main ( shaman ) it wont drop and i'm currently above 90 runs.

It took me between 215-222 kills to get this sucker, didn’t always kill Ikiss so i lost track (I named my mount Sith Nugget Fred, arch enemy of High Nugget Bob, my white hawkstrider =3)

Short story behind this: I am a lvl 70 BM hunter in all Sunwell gear. Back when you needed a druid to summon this guy, my friend (who got him in 8 runs) ran it for me until a druid was no longer needed. Then a pally friend ran it for me some 160-180ish times. I did a few runs with other friends, (and I thank them for the help! Love you guys! =D) However, in the end I was left without anyone to run me. So how did I solve this? I learned to solo the darn thing -.- 3 weeks later he dropped =D So for any other well geared 70 hunters (or other classes who think they can do it) here is what I did. I hope this helps someone out there. Note that this guide is only for crazy twinks who don’t have someone to run them and is mostly aimed at hunters. Make adjustments as you see fit. I’m not sure what other classes can do this due to the damage the mobs put out

Before you start:
I did this in pve gear. If I used pvp gear I could not kill the mobs fast enough and I/my pet would die. Some may be able to do it with well-gemmed and enchanted pvp gear but I don’t recommend it
Bring a turtle or a beetle tank. You NEED to have one or the other for hardened carapace/shell shield. It saves your life. (all other classes who have a tanking pet, bring it.)
Go BM, you will need the extra talent points for your tank pet, max out its damage reduction and threat talents and make sure to spec into thunder stomp taunt and last stand. Do everything you can to make sure it endure the massive damage its going to take.
Improved mend pet glyph. You NEED this! if you don’t have mend pet you will die. End of storey
Buffs: buff food, battle/guardian elixirs are a great help. Eventually I didn’t have to use them as I became familiar with the dungeon but I still recommend them. Healing pots and high level bandages are a must. Invisibility pots are great for those days you are in a rush and need to skip a room.

Ok… you can go inside now….

(IF YOU DON’T NEED ME TO TELL YOU HOW TO GET PAST THE MOBS AND TO THE RAVEN LORD, SKIP THIS PART AND GO RIGHT TO THE BOSS FIGHT) Be aware of your pats. The first two mobs hit kind of hard so make sure the pats behind him wont show up as you pull. I usually send my pet in after one mob for a thundersomp, then send it after the second mob and hit kill command so he can hold agro since thunderstomp’s aoe isn’t large enough to hit them both at once. Drop a frost trap in front of you incase you gain aggro on the owl pat. After the hallway is clear you can freeze one of the mobs to your LEFT, and then pull back into the hallway before letting your pet gain aggro. Always kill the time-lost controller first. (be careful of your timing, there is an owl pat to your right that you can facepull)
The mobs on your RIGHT can easily be skipped if you keep an eye on the owl and hug the wall. Continue the process of freezing one mob, pulling the rest of the pack back into a safe spot and then having your pet gain aggro. You will want to kill all pats before moving into any given room. (accept for the owl on the farthest end of the second room, and the one I talk about in the above paragraph they can be avoided if you try)
The first boss is easy to skip, he’s a pain in the butt and I don’t like being saved to the instance until after the raven lord is dead. Send pet in to agro him then put him on passive and run into the other hallway. Dismiss pet, feign death and he will reset. Shadow meld works fine if you’re a night elf too.
Now for the raven guards. (make sure feign death is up before you pull) Send pet in with a heal and pop most of your cds and burst one down as fast as you can. Your pet will probably die just as you kill the first one. You cant kite them in this hallway and they hit like trucks so feign death and revive pet and kill the second one. Then pull the wind serpent into the hallway and kill him before pulling down the non-elite birds to your right. ( make sure your pet is tanking with his back to a wall or he will get punted into mobs) Climb up onto the hill and pull the mobs directly in front of you by the stairs. Freeze one, have pet tank the others. Kill the serpent on the stair steps.
Now your at the second set of raven guards. Send pet in and pop cds. When your pet dies you can feign death or use concussive shot and just kite the second one to death since you will have a lot of kiting space.
Last room before raven lord: (everything is close together here so be careful) kill non elite birds, wait for the wind serpent to come into the clear space then pull him back. Do the usual freeze/kite/tank/kill for the next pack of mobs. Make sure you freeze the prophets (they fear) or the shamans (they summon adds) and kill the one you didn’t freeze first. (this is were you can use your invisibility pot to skip right to the raven lord if you want. Just be careful and use aspect of the cheetah r some other speed buff so the invisibility doesn’t wear off when you reach the raven guards) Pull down the non elite birds from the hill and kill them. Freeze the humanoid pat across the room so he wont agro, then climb up the hill and feign. In the last pack of mobs freeze the prophet so he cant fear you, pull the mobs a lil ways away from the frozen target then kill.
More raven guards, same method as before.

RAVEN LORD FIGHT.
Ok here comes the hard part. This is when you use your guardian/battle elixirs, buff food, ect ect. I recommend switching out your trinkets for something with heavy stamina. (I used Darkmoon card: madness (52 stam) and a commanders badge (45 stam) from netherwing dragon rep for the buffs and mini dragon guardian. But anything with lots of stamina will do)
If you have a core hound you can pop heroism before re-summonng your tank if you wish. Make sure to keep mend pet up at all times and just nuke the crap out of Anzu. Every time you see him casting a stun or whirlwind refresh your mend pet.
When the birds come fall back to the RIGHT corner of the room near the entrance. Feign death when they agro you. Usually the birds will reset or only a few of them will continue to attack you. These guys suck. The aggro is horrid and they block your vision, your pet probably won’t be able to hold them all and there will probably still be some up when Anzu starts kicking again so as soon as Anzu banishes himself run to the corner and hide. Kill ALL the birds before fighting Anzu again. Make sure you move away from the coner, hugging the walls to avoid birds until you eacha place far enough away from the baskets that Anus wont step on him. If he steps on a basket or any other item he usually bugs and resets. Pop ALL your cds at this point. This is usually about the time I have to pop Last Stand on my pet if things went wrong with the birds or with the stuns. When he banishes himself again take the time to use first aid and a health pot before the birds come back if you need to. Kill birds then finish Anzu off, popping whatever cds may have been refreshed by now.

KILLING IKISS
You can kill the last boss if you want to use him as a sort of score board but his polymorph will probably get you killed more then once. (stuck in polymorph as arcane blast hits -.-) so that part is up to you. The fight is basically a tank and spank but the guy has a fetish for pillars and ends up humping them and shooting missals at you. The trick is to send your pet in after him (I uses a silithid for the extra dps that my tank doesn’t have and the 92 stam buff) and just have your pet kill him. Hide behind the pillars and only come out to use mend pet or get a few shots in. you can use kill command when your pet is not in LOS and the arcane aoe wont hurt him so just spam kill command. If he tries to polymorph you run behind the pillar.

Hope this will help SOMEONE out there ever though its kinda exclusive >.< hope to see a few other 70s reporting back with solos soon.

I think im lucky 'cause got it after about 15 runs yesterday. Got the swift hawkstrider 4 days ago on 2nd run.
Also I have a guildy got this mount, I'm standing beside him and it seems that my mount is slightly bigger (im a gnome and he's a nelf), others saw that too. Don't know why.

My daily routine:

Teleport to Toshleys Station
Kill Anzu
Teleport to Howling Fjord
Kill Skadi the Ruthless

Seems to me I was farming it on two characters, but I've moved down to one as it was getting a bit boring for me. Luckily if you are a Warrior, you can Heroic Leap over certain trash in doorways ect.

I also found standing in the very middle of doors you can sometimes (only sometimes) get through without getting agro. Doesn't matter what size you are, I got turned into a Tauren on my way to do it yesterday and was able to still walk in between guards.

So after reading a lot of people saying they were lucky enough to get this beauty after only a few runs, I felt I was encouraged enough to try it, I went in there ready to farm, and left, on my first run, with one of my favorite mounts in the game. Couldn't believe how lucky I was, to anyone farming this mount, just remember that it WILL drop so long as you keep trying.

Now you can find the boss in sethekk alls and kill it on heroic difficulty, you just have a low % that it drops but you can do it alone... I found it at 1st try and i went there alone with my lvl 85 paladin so no druid needed...

Raven Lord finally dropped for me today, after 170 - 180 kills, on my DK.
I got it on my 25:th or so attempt on my druid, back in the days when only druids could summon Anzu.

Don't think I'll ever set my feet in this dungeon again. :)

Just keep on going every day, and you'll sooner or later loot this awesome mount.

Almost feel guilty about this, but I got mine just trying for outland dungeon hero, never did the dungeon before, haven't done it since. Beat the dungeon, went to the vendor outside, started selling junk, nearly clicked on item when I saw "teaches you how to summon this mount" Had no idea what it was, learned it, got the Feat of Strength and stood amazed. Will probably use this as my ground mount for a long long time. Didn't even know the dungeon had a rare mount drop.

The only mount that makes my eyes tear up when I look at it for a while, the Raven Lord is my all-time favourite mount concept in this game. I love to go in and "subdue" Anzu, and then get a mount that looks exactly like him in every way! I love the colours, the pearls, the saddle, the eyes...everything about this mount is just perfect, and the textures of it are remarkable considering it was created in TBC.

Sure, now there's another "shinier" mount using the same model, but set on fire...people sort of EXPECT me to be "OmgIwantzitnow!" about it since I'm mountcrazed beyond what is humanly possible to grasp....but no, I wouldn't trade my Raven Lord for the new rehash, neither am I sorry if I never get it as long as I have Anzu, whom I farmed without fail until he finally surrendered himself to me!

If I have to say 2 things that have gone somewhat "grey" with this mount, it has to be:

1. The feet. The lack of animation on the claws as it runs make the feet look stiff and clumsy.

2. The fact it doesn't make a unique sound when mounting up. Only when doing /mountspecial

So, I get the satchel when I tank but I send them to my alt hoping she can get a nice mount. I decided to go ret and try sethekk for the mount before bed and...it dropped first try on my pally. I've cleared it a few times on my hunter going back to wotlk but first try on my pally and it's looking sexy.

I consider this karmic payback for my clearing ZG cat boss every reset and not getting the orange cat before they got rid of it without telling us they were going to.

I feel incredibly lucky it dropped first try but anyway I did it w/ my 85 Mage and just walked through the place most enemies ignored me and the ones that didn't were decimated by arcane blast the fight is very easy not just for Druids anymore

Like some others have mentioned, while farming for Anzu, if you're trying to farm pets aswell, go check which fishing daily it is outside Shattrath from Old Man Barlo in case he'll give you Crocolisks in the City. Since it's near to just pick it up.

Easy quest to get these 4 croc pets, they all have roughly 10-12% drop chance from the Bag of Fishing Treasures he'll give you.

swift whit hawk strider took about 17 runs. Still farming for firey warhorse,this one could take awhile sence i can only run it once a week.

I step before this glooming Skull flickering portal...again. "sighhhhh". I enter. I've been here since druids were the main stepping stone. I dodge my first 4 groups. No agro.. Kill two numb NpC's. "stupid birds" make my way to two more casualties of war. First boss. Done. around this way, that way, up stairs. More dead in my path. So I stand before Anzu. Not thinking anything of it, I engage. about a 1 minute fight unfolds.32k! 30k! 16k- 45k! ::immune:: "you sOb!" round 2 "FIGHT" . He dies. I loot... gold, gem, misc. item. eyes go back to tv. NO WAIT. IT DROPPED. ! FINALLY! Credit of the feat of strength, as well as mountain o mounts achieved! Success of a gamer is finally felt after countless runs in these Halls. I hearth to show Azeroth of this success.. A shadow Raven Lord! Kael'Thas here i come, with a slight undead grin.

It is possible to see Reins of the Raven Lord and Swift White Hawkstrider drop on the same day. It happened to my druid Scythebitten on Sargeras. Extremely rare but possible.

First i must note that it is possible to stealth through the dungeon past all trash mobs easily for that matter (as long as you dont run into them while stealthed that is =) )

When you enter the dungeon, stealth past the first two guards by going right between them. from this point on avoid contact with mobs or you will aggro them. at the first boss (Darkweaver Syth) Keep bleeds up and you will be on your way to Anzu in no time.

When you reach Anzu, the room is cleared of the normal mobs he is the only one in the room, but dont be fooled. Once you enter combat, keep your bleeds up and bash him down. At about 50% he will fade out and become immune to damage. At this point he summons a mob of birds that fly around you for a moment before converging on you. i found the easist way to take them out is Swipe x1-3 depending on your average dps. Soon after you kill the mob, you can begin damaging him again. You may or may no get another wave of spawned birds depending on how fast you bash him.

Took one run for me to get this amazing mount. I wish you all the best of luck =)

I have run Setthek maybe 100 times solo, and with helpful guildees, to get this mount and have never even seen it drop. Yesterday it dropped from my Satchel of Helpful Goods...

I got it on my 6th run. I was incredibly happy, and then I realized.
It SHOULD be able to fly, the mount would be sooo much cooler,
Also just be4 I got the mount I said to myself: I'm never gonna get this damn mount.
The point is, if your lucky enough, you'll get it. If your unlucky...
Well you should be able to get it on about 100runs, right?

Finally dropped for me yesterday 12/31/2011 after about 40 runs over a 1 year period. You don't need a druid with you and if you're a high lvl you can just walk past most mobs to the raven lord so it only take maybe 3 to 5 mins to do a run. As rare of a drop this mount is Blizzard should have made it a flyer too.

5th kill 8.7%
10th kill: 16.7%
20th kill: 30.5%
50th kill: 59.7%
75th kill: 74.4%
100th kill: 83.7%

So even after 100 kills! You still don't have 100% chance of getting it.

Personally I'm at ~40 kills atm.

After obtaining two Reins of the Raven Lord , yes two ( one on my druid, the other on my dk), I 've noticed that it isn't always fastest to try to avoid as much trash as you can. I.E. come out of stealth sometimes, and use Dash or Sprint as often as you can. When you pull trash, back pedal so that you can keep moving. Use feral charge, charge, heroic leap, and other moves like those to get around quicker. Just trying to share the different ways that I made my time is Sethekk Halls more brief when I was farming the mount.

Have been farming this mount for only about a month, very casually. It dropped two days ago after only 20 runs, was so shocked! After it dropped, I went to MT and tried for the hawkstrider. To my bewilderment, it dropped also, within the same hour as the Raven Lord. My guild was pretty aggro that day haha.

Some people are lucky, some aren't. But don't give up, because this mount is awesome.

Got mine a month ago. Done approx 40-60 runs. Its not fun at all, and i often got the feeling "i wont ever get it." But i just had to get it and was going to farm for as long as i had to, and i finally got it. Definitely worth getting!

the mount doesn't fly. It's a bird in Outland! The first place you were able to fly. I want a upgrade.

34th kill, Havent dropped yet.

I ran HMGT everyday for 2-3 months to get Orb of Sindorei and got Hawkstriders about 7 times and the hatchling like 6 times before I got one orb of sindorei.

I hate these drop rates ><

Personally, i think this is THE most awesome ground mount in the game, if not the coolest mount, Flying or not.

The drop rate is horrible, as all the other mounts from instances, but keep on trying.

Statistics counter for SH last boss kill is 114 kills.
But i didnt allways kill Talon King Ikiss when i did do my daily farming + kills since tbc. So total amount of Anzu kills is a bit mystery.

Based on an assumed drop chance, p=0.01 (or 1 in 100) then the number of kills before you loot one raptor will follow a Geometric Distribution.
According to the theory, the expected number of kills is 1/p, or 100 kills.
The cumulative distribution function is 1-q^k where q is the chance of not looting the mount (i.e. 99%). This expression allows us to find out how likely we will have obtained the drop within a certain number of attempts.
Approximately 1 in 3 players loots within 40 kills; 2 out of 3 players will loot within the expected 100 kills - however around 1 in 6 players won't have looted within 200 kills!

Just received this from a satchel of exotic mysteries for Call to Arms. Gave it to my new toon since you can mail the BoA satchel itself.

It's a nice mount - though I've never really wanted it badly. I'd sell it if it weren't BoP.

That being said, I'm pretty disappointed to realize a "raven lord" can't actually fly - at least not with me on its back. Weak.

So, apparently...100% drop rate o_o

(not really 100% - just happened that way for me, thankfully)

First time in to Sethekk Halls with my RET Paladin (skipped it while leveling her through the BC timeline). I was passing through the BC areas for some reason and decided to drop by and solo the instance for a chance at the drop. Honestly, the Skettis and other trash mobs in here tend to ignore lvl 85s for the most part - only brushing up against them may get some aggro. Have to kill the bosses, but they're really no match for max lvl toonz these days, IMO.

This virgin-run drop was definitely one of my most memorable WoW events ;)

This mount dropped for me last year 07.23.11 (Gilneas - US), but since I'm coming back into Azeroth after a couple months away, just wanted to let u know - there is hope peeps; RNG is NOT the boss of us! ;)

Been farming for 6 months - nearly every day since Sept 2011.. so far approx 160 kills of Anzu and still counting.. officially 107 kills for Talon King Ikiss because I didn't kill him during the first couple of months.. the 1.7% drop rate seems way out or I am incredibly unlucky sigh

I had never ran this instance before on heroic but myself and 2 other guild members came in for the heroic guild achievement (with one level 70), and lo, and behold...the mount dropped. I could hardly believe what I saw. I've drooled every time I have seen this mount, and I happily let our level 70 mage have it. I'll be shaking my head for days over this.

Friend got it on his first kill, and another friend hasn't gotten it after 80 kills. But it'll drop one day so keep your head high!

according to the Achievements statistics I have now have got 130 kills for Talon King Ikiss plus I killed Anzu every day for over a month before I started killling the last boss as well, but still no mount. That's about 170 kills of Anzu over 7 months I am starting to think something is wrong. It's very frustrating to read about people who got this on their first run through. I am definately making up for their good luck.

Account wide mounts have been confirmed and have been added to the beta. Now that mounts will be shared between characters, It would be smart to farm this mount on all of your toons, greatly increasing the chance of getting this bad boy.

Never give up. That's the only way to beat RNG .

I know from experience. Ever since I saw that mount I wanted it. Once I got it on one char I decided I wanted it on all my chars.
Back in TBC it was a hassle to get a druid helping you every day.

These days it's a 10-15 minutes run with no special requirements other than patience to do it again if you're not lucky that day.

so far:
my druid: (in TBC) from neutral to exalted Lower City plus about 100 runs. all solo.
my hunter: ( in TBC with druid friend) 5 runs. lucky lucky lucky
my warrior: neutral to exalted Lower City and 300+ runs: nothing yet
my dk: 6 runs. lucky sod
I have not started on my other chars yet while I actually should as the chances basically are between 1 run and never

patience does pay off my friends, eventhough it feels like it pushes you to the edge of insanity by times.

Never complain to friends about something not dropping. There will always be someone who looted it on their first or second run. In my guild there's someone who looted it on his 478th run. Both will make you unhappy if you didn't get it yourself yet.

I got this great mount on my 8th run or so. I wasnt counting exactly but I had been farming it for about a week and finally got it today. It's a really nice mount and really worth the wait. It's also very easy to solo for a level 85 making it something you can easily and quickly do each day. I hope some information helps and it's a 2% drop or so.

This is an annoying drop. Im always going this instance the first thing in the morning, clearing all trash for greenies and silver (making at least 100g a run), and on an ilvl 395 hunter, thats no prob. But the mount never drops! Gad.

Got the Ashes of al'ar on my third run, and the swift white hawkstrider on my 10th, And flametalon of alyzrasor on the same amount of runs in Firelands too. But this mount is an annoying b* :(

Finally got this after about 20 days of farming. I find it really helpful to put all dots on him before his first bird-call: it will get him down to low health fast, and when he becomes attackable again you can nuke him down before having to deal with the aggravating stun/killing birds again.

After a while away from the game, I now farm Sethekk every day with all my characters that can easily solo the instance - been doing that for like 3 months (updated 5th of June 2012), but haven't got the drop from Anzu - yet. But no power in the world could stop me from continuing what I do... :) The only thing I was wondering as the drop rate is estimated to 1.7% (according to this site), do that goes per each of your character or the number of runs overall? (My first language isn't English, o I hope I mad myself understood here). I got Attumens horse (first boss in Karazhan) - that was back in October 2008 in a 10 men party with lvl cap, i think lvl 70. The drop rate for that mount was even worse, especially in 10 men raid group and all needed. According to wowhead the droprate is like 0.9 - 1 %.
In addidition I have seen it dop once more back in late autumn 2011 and a guilde and I was in there and rolled need for it (on another character ofc.), but I lost so Kara is under weekly farming aswell. If anyone can answer my question above, it'll be appreciated. Have fun guys. :)

Heya guys!
Was just adding up all the kills on my characters from over the years, which has added up to 46 kills of the last boss (Perhaps more of Anzu.)
I'm not giving up hope yet though, it is definitely one of the cooler mounts in the game. The drop rate as it says on Wowhead is 1.7%, which let's be honest isn't too bad, comparing to drop rates like Rivendare's mount.
Just to make things clear, probability does not add up, every time you enter Sethekk Halls Heroic a random loot table is formulated, and its just luck if you get the mount or you don't, it doesn't increase if you kill all the trash or any thing like that.
If you keep at it, the chances are you'll get it eventually!

Here is how I farmed mine

I ran this place every day for a full month and on 4/3/11 he dropped. Am a fury warrior so using heoric leap in this place help a little ...My best advice would be to run it everyday.

Just got this today after a month or so of running Sethekk Halls. I did this while getting the T2 purple set for my paladin xmog (BC heroics). The worst part about it for me was the flight there and the wait (only once per day). You can skip a good bit of the trash if you want to, just hug the walls, etc. Some of the guards that aren't so close together you can jump through too, just try to land a decent bit behind them or they usually pull. I bet a rogue or a kitty could run straight to Anzu which would be very nice. It shouldn't affect the drop rate either. Good luck farming.

MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:
I got this mount on 2 characters. A dk, and a Rogue. I started farming this in wrath of the lich king, when you needed a key, And in patch 4.0.2(?) Keys were removed, and you didnt need a key to enter any instance/raid boss.
It took me about 80 runs on my DK to get it, and around 50 on my rogue. Now I'm only happy I don't have to do this thing anymore. Because, it's boring as &*!@! ^^

On the 62nd straight day of runs, this sucker finally dropped. By day 50 or so I had begun to accept that the lovely Boomstick gun would haunt me forever in my nightmares. After Anzu fell and that super cool and not annoying stun his adds throw out wore off, I clicked his corpse in preparation for a Boomstick or a good ol' totally useless epic gem. Ah, a Boomstick of course, but also a page down button. I had been fooled by this before, frantically paging down to see a green or another piece of garbage. I clicked it and boom, the reins. The end of a long and horrible journey. Never will I set foot into Sethekk Halls again, not even if you payed me a million Boomsticks.

Since all mounts will be accountwide in MoP if youre having a hard time getting it on your main you should go with your other toons as well because in MoP you will have it anyway.

I don't normally do this but I wanted to post on here to give those who have hunted for this mount and still no luck. I have been farming this since late wrath when I had to rely on a druid buddy to help summon Anzu. Close to 3 years later, and after hundreds of runs AND after dozens of satchels, I finally got it today. I stopped keeping count of the runs after 250, which was quite awhile ago, and had actually given up on it cause I was sick of Sethekk since I could run it in my sleep at that point. After being depressed after seeing a few friends of mine get it on the first try or getting it multiple times through various means, I was just bored enough today to go back in there and it finally dropped. So, if your feeling discouraged after running this place forever, just know that it'll eventually happen if you can stay with it.

A guildmate pointed out today (5.0.4 release) that the mount is no longer listed as a drop for Anzu in the Dungeon Journal. I never checked the dungeon journal for this dungeon before today so I don't know if it was really removed or what. Does anyone know for certain if this still drops?

I thought this would be a small important note:

With 5.0.4, in the Dungeon Guide - the mount is NOT noted/listed as a drop. Not sure why, maybe Blizz is taking it out or just forgot to put it in there (Blue drake is listed for UP so they didn't miss that).

Yet I can confirm it still drops because it dropped for me patch day. :)

Took about a month of everyday running SH.

-yes Swift White Hawkstrider will drop after patch 5.0.4
-Take all your toon's that are lvl 85 and run Sethekk Halls daily. You will have a higher chance of getting it sooner.
-Noob tip: Set the instance to heroic mode before you enter the instance and find out that Raven Lord isn't there, had to re-run the instance on a few toons.
-The other option of getting this mount is getting it from Satchel of Exotic Mysteries from cataclysm dungeons for signing as a tank/healer reward.

-The Dungeon Guide will not list Reins of the Raven Lord as loot, but it will for other mounts such as Swift White Hawkstrider or Deathcharger's Reins not sure why list the other two and not Reins of the Raven Lord.

With patch 5.0.4 making mounts account bound, you can take all of your alts to Sethekk Halls and run up to 5 per hour(once per day, per toon because it is still heroic mode). With persistence, once you get the mount, it will be automatically added to all your toons, even your linked accounts(under the same email from what I understand).

Quick facts:

Yes, this mount is available in patch 5.0.4
Yes, it is transferred to all your toons once you obtain it on one.
Yes, you can run the instance multiple times on different toons, up to 5 times per hour.

One other note: as you start your grind make sure you put it on HEROIC after each toon swap. I found myself almost forgetting each time I did a toon hop because I had never done a grind like this.

I got this on my Dk on second try on Friday 8/31. Then went on my Warrior on Wed 9/05 and got White Hawkstrider and got it on my second try. On Thursday 9/06 soloed Stonecore and got Vitreous Stone Drake after 36 attempts. It's been legendary ! I will let you know when I get Aeonaxx but I like Vitreous Stone Drake better. After 2 years of farming almost everyday on 6 diffriend chars i finally got it today! I never thought it would drop for me. But it did! Still can't belive it...
When i killes Anzu i waited a few secs with looting, i looted him and saw there was an extra page, i thought it was the same as always just some junk, but when i pressed the arrow down thing i saw ''Reins of the Raven Lord'' my heart stopped for a second, it was really true, after all this time i finally got it.
Have never been more happy for a loot, such a nice looking bird and will never forget the moment it dropped!

I'm at 38 kills so far on my Hunter. I have never noticed any kind of debuff on me. Now with the new MoP talents, I can kill him before he even goes invincible as BM. I have done it twice in 6 seconds. I got the White Hawkstrider on kill #34.

If its taking you a long time to get the mount... dont loose heart keep at it!, I got mine today after my 53rd attempt, guess I was one of the unlucky ones as most poeple I asked, said that they got theres within a few attempts pfft! anyways, if your wondering as I so often did if there is a specific place you need to stand when you kill Anzu, and if you should kill all the mobs on the way, it dosn't seem so, I always skiped all the normal mobs, but always killed the 1st boss, so dont know if that matters, I have killed Anzu in almost every space in his room, the spot where I got the mount was to the right as you go in, between the nest on the floor and the shadow bird near Anzu, so like I said, dont give up, and keep at it, good luck all!

Did the instance solo today on Heroic with an 85 Unholy DK and dropped today. Anzu DOES still drop it even though its not listed in the dungeon guide. Happy Hunting!

Nearly 80 runs and it finally dropped. Ran it on a whim for the first time since MoP launched as i waited for Headless Horseman queue. Unsurprisingly, was much easier to clear through the dungeon, cast Nether Tempest on every target with various casts of Arcane Explosion. Best advice now would be either park your various toons outside the dungeon and run it every day on each toon until you acquire it or run it as you wait for a raid to come together or a dungeon/raid queue to come up.

Got this mount two days ago, did about 14 runs and the way i did it (as many others have said aswell) Is to take as many alts you have and want and station them outside sethekk halls, then just do the instance over and over until you get lucky, i got extremly lucky so just keep farming since it will eventually drop and i can tell you that it's so worth it! :)
P.S don't forget to put it on 5 man heroic which i did one day x)

I made it a daily thing for me to run this 4 times a day across my character. After about 2 weeks I finally got it, biggest tips I can say is keep trying and if you can try to do it everyday. It only takes like 5 minutes and if you don't want to fly there just leave an alt right outside the instance. Final tip, just a way to save time, figure out the fastest possible ways to get through the instance. On my paladin I would just put on pursuit of justice, get 5 holy power, and ride that almost all the way to the boss, on my rogue I throw up nightstalker and sprint as soon as I get in and shadowstep from the max range to save time.

For anyone that is still farming the mount in Pandaria expansion, I can confirm that the mount still drops even if it does not appear in the Dungeon Journal among Anzu's loot (as opposed to the White Hawk Strider that is correctly listed in Magister Terrace loot table). I got it about 2 days ago :)

It's been almost a week now, and I am still mind blown.

On the morning of November 15th, 2012 , I was at my husband's grandparent's house. As usual, I set my lap top next to the house hold's monster desktop, and played World of Warcraft as my significant other played Dota 3 (Beta, mind you). Since April of this year, I have been farming the Raven Lord mount. However, I did take a 3 month long break starting in June, and came back a week before MoP was released. On average, I had about 40 to 50 kills on Anzu and no mount to show for it. The first time I played my husband's rogue and ran through, the bastard dropped, and he had been farming on and off for a couple of years. So, there I was, running through Sethekk Halls for the umpteenth time, and when it came time to fight Anzu, I made damn sure my hubby was watching. I play a level 90 Blood Elf Survival Hunter who is kinda sorta (not really) geared named Corlynne on Zuluhed, and had Sambas out for the buff. As usual, Hunter's Mark, Murder of Crows, Barrage, Explosive Shot, and Arcane Shot spammage. That was the daily rotation since I started farming again. Only this time, I killed him before he could use his Brood of Anzu. We both laughed pretty hard at this, but after constant no mount drops, I didn't expect the Reins to be on the corpse. You can imagine my surprise when I hit "loot" and it was there.

And something else happened right after that, which is completely off topic. . . But I ended up getting the Reins of the Blue Proto-Drake as well after 7 consecutive runs.

Moral of the story? Don't get discouraged if you don't get what you want in the first few runs. It will drop. Maybe not today, or tomorrow, or even the next day. . . But give it time and dedication, and you'll be strutting around your capital city on your own Raven Lord like me ^_^

And my husband is officially my good luck charm >.>

For anyone who wants to find out how many runs, on average, it will take to get this mount:

Assuming drop chance is 1.6%:

the expected value, or mean amount of runs, is then: 1/.016 = ~63 runs

to compare to deathcharger, assuming drop chance to be 1%:

mean amount of runs is = 100 runs

the formula is derived by taking an infinite sum of all various geometric probability combinations. Read more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geometric_distribution (requires knowledge of mathematical statistics)

This is the AVERAGE amount of runs. The purpose is to show you how much time and commitment you should expect when planning to farm these mounts!

Just picked this up today on 10/10. I swear I was never going to see this. With 3 alts that can run this and with over 200+ runs across the board I was hopeless. Then it dropped when I was running it on my alt mage. Anyway its not that amazing beacuse I recently soloed took on what many people are doing, and soloed Alayrazor for the updated skin version of this mount which is covered in fire! anyway I was super happy and hope others get this and don't have to tele to shatt on 3-5 characters a day to fly to the same instance to see the boomstick and the epic gems that always make you sorta jump lol

Confirmed drop tonight 12-01-2013. Rivendares Deathcharger dropped for me two days ago, what are the chances of two drops in one week?

57 kills on my pala main for Rivendare and no drop....8 kills on my mage alt and it dropped.
21 kills on my pala main for Anzu and tonight this dropped.

One thing i enjoy as a shadowpriest is having the Glyph of Shadowy Friends, Glyph of Shadow Ravens , a Gilnean Raven battlepet, and the Reins of the Raven Lord to become the Lord of Shadowy Ravens :)

Started mount farming again today after running out of things to do.
Took me about 15 minutes to find Sethekk Halls...its the EAST entrance. Anyways, at level 90 you should be able to run past all the mobs or 1 shot them is you happen to aggro. The runs take about 3 minutes so...not to much time out of your day. If you have your hearth set to the Shrine of Seven Stars (or whatever the MoP city is called) you can take a portal to shattrath and be there in a few minutes.

Like so many other comments, I can once again confirm that this drops after X amount of kills as of this X.X Patch.

This comment obviously adds useful information, so I decided to write and submit it to help people instead of stroking my own ego to everyone that has not gotten it yet.

To add even more useful info, I'll detail my complex strategy to those running through this solo, with a dozen times more health and dps than all the bosses combined:

Run through and kill them.

The drop chance is 1.6% from Anzu, for those who cannot find it here in the "Dropped by" tab. Many others below me confirm this with their own comments stating the same thing. I just wanted to confirm it. Again.

I got this mount on the 6th try. I was pretty excited. It is totally worth getting if you like ground mounts. My only complaint with it is that it is not a flying mount. I mean come on! Its a bird for crying out loud!

OMG! I just got it tonight! My statistics say it's my 222nd kill, but that's only because I realized I could keep track by killing Ikiss, so I know there were many more kills before I started downing him. I am super happy right now! Don't give up everyone! :)

It is an easy simple run you stick to the wall all the way in just stay to the left intill ur in the first room then you kill the guards to get to then next room then kill those guards, and so on just stick to the wall kill guards and when you are in the room where you can see the stairs and from then after just run straight through dodging mobs, can I suggest that you do not do this time savign method intill exxaltd with lower city, when I first started trying to get this mount I went through killing the mobs as I went just to get the rep with shattarh's lower city. When killing anzu it is possible to get out of the stun with a move like divine shield if your impatient and it is easy to nuke him down before he goes immune if you are a strong dps. Just a last note after you kill anzu run straight ahead to kill the next boss then turn right it is much quicker than going back the way you came, easily soloable at any level (PS. don't forget it has to be on hc)

You have a 90% chance of the mount dropping after 141 runs.
You have a 95% chance of the mount dropping after 183 runs.
You have a 99% chance of the mount dropping after 281 runs.
You have a 99.9% chance of the mount dropping after 422 runs.

Note that, due to the way probability works, if you were to down Anzu 421 times, you wouldn't be near guaranteed to get the mount on the next one. The number of times you've run the instance does not have an effect on the RNG. After 421 runs, you will still only have a 99.9% chance for the mount to drop after another 422 runs.

Discouraging? Maybe, but Blizz wants us to work for our extra toys. Also, please check my math and correct me if I'm wrong.

I received one of these today from a "Satchel of exotic mysteries" (reward for queing for a specific class for heroics).. on my 2nd ever heroic ran as a tank. This gives me hope for future blingtron attempts. Miracles do happen :')

I would just like to confirm that is April 1, 2013, and the Reins of the Raven Lord does still drop.
It hasn't been taken out of the patches yet

However, who ever is still farming Anzu -

You flip a coin. The chance of it landing heads is 50%.
You flip another coin twice. The chance of it landing heads is 50%.
You flip another coin again, for kicks. The chance of it landing heads is 50%.
You flip another coin for the last and final time. The chance of if landing heads is 50%.

Loot tables are generated randomly. Random generations are statistically independent. Statistical independence negates memory, or dependence on prior events. Coin flips do not remember how many times you have flipped a coin or how many times that particular coin has been flipped; loot tables do not remember how many times you've participated in a boss fight or how many times the particular item for which you're searching has dropped.

In effect: repeated runs through an instance will not affect the probability of an item dropping; it will, however, modify the probability of you witnessing the drop. Therefore, it is entirely probable to play the game and never witness Reins of the Raven Lord, though it is unlikely that you would never witness it.

So this goes into the realm of Probability vs Percentage rate. Let's pretend the drop rate is something we can work with easily, 10%.

The first thing you need to know is that the chance an item will drop on every attempt is EXACTLY THE SAME. In our case it's 10% the 1st time, and 10% the 100th time and 10% the 1,000,000th time. It NEVER CHANGES, and to believe otherwise is what is called a Gambler's Fallacy, which is believe that previous results influence future results. THEY DO NOT INFLUENCE FUTURE RESULTS.

However, the Probability of actually seeing the item increases with each attempt. Although the probability of seeing an item drop nears 100%, it never ever becomes a 100% chance of seeing an item. You could run the instance every week, and never see the item or see it every time.

The formula to calculate your drop chance ( x ) over any given number of runs ( y ) is this:
1 - ( ( 1 - x ) ^ y )

So assuming the item has a 10% drop rate, there is a 65% percent chance of seeing the item drop 10 runs.

At 20 runs it would be 87% chance of seeing the item drop.

At 45 runs it would be a 99% chance of seeing the item drop.

However note as described above, the percentage rate is always 10%, it's just the probability or the chance of seeing the item increases, the rate stays the same. Also note that the actual drop rate of this item may or may not be 10% as this was just used as an example to explain probability vs percentage rate.

After farming this mount for the best part of 3 years on my Druid I finally dropped this on my Warlock.

My happiness was short lived.

I used this as a way to wind up my girlfriend(yeah I play WoW and get laid) and my friend. Suddenly, my friend links me the mount. I obviously believed this to be a fake link until he rolled up to me rocking a brand new Raven Lord.

My girlfriend literally 5 minutes ago also dropped this mount.

Is this just a huge coincidence or has the drop rate on this mount been increased?

We all farmed this mount for 2-3 years and all got it within a week of each other.

Had this drop for me back in the wrath on my druid. And again today In a Tank Satchel. Drop chance : 1.6% from Anzu 0.07% from satchel. I got lucky but unlucky that it wasn't Deathcharger!

I saw people saying they ran it 20 times in one day. How do you reset the dungeon? I went out then reset the heroic setting, went back in. All of the trash was there but the bosses were not. HELP!

This mount will be gained randomly on the boss Anzu in Sethekk Halls Heroic. Wich is easy enough to solo if you are level 85+. But the drop rate is only 1.6% so either you are lucky gaining this mount on your first 5 runs or you might get it months or years trying. But if you do the Sethekk Halls everyday, You will obtain this mount for sure. I used about 4 months getting this and it was totally worth it. Happy Farming! :D

How to measure your chances of success:

For Raven Lord and mounts in general you can use statistical formulas to get a general idea of how much work it is to get the mount.

Probability of getting mount in certain amount of runs is 1-drop_chance^number_of_tries and can be easily calculated with Excel and solver(google solver if you want, pick your numbers if you don't want to bother).

As said by Tolki no matter how much you run it the probability of getting it would not increase. So if it is 1.6% drop on your first run it'll be 1.6% drop chance on your 6th run etc.
But probability of it dropping within the certain amount of runs is a different thing.

For example I use 4 toons to farm the Raven lord which is account bound mount now, so in order to have a 95% chance to get him with probability of drop being 1.6%(according to wowhead). I'll need to run 186 times, which is around 46-47 days with 4 toons.

I took 95% as example because it's widely used in statistics as a good confidence interval. If you are satisfied by having a good shot at getting it, like 75% the amount of days you'll need to spend on him(with 4 toons) is around 21-22.

Always remember that numbers should be used to desicion making, they dont make the game give you mount after exactly 46days of farming it. I had a terrible luck with Warbringer's Direhorn mounts to the extend that amount of times I killed them had tottaled to 98%+ chance of seeing the mount drop at least once. Yet, alas, I was still to see one drop.

On the other hand I got both Ashes of Al'ar and Fiery Warhorse within 3 weeks of farming. Chances of that happening is less than chances for seeing Raven Lord drop on your first run (around 1.4%). SO it's not guaranteed that you'll get something even if you have 95% chance, but it gives you the idea of how much farming you need to do to have a nice shot at the mount.

Yipe! Not sure how this happened, but I guess the moral of the story is random is just that, random. I've never really gone hunting instance or raid mounts until two days ago when I decided to go for the Raven Lord. I have 8 alts and sent 6 of them in after it with no success. Tried the next day and it dropped for the second one. Feeling lucky I then went to Stratholme for the Deathcharger and dropped it after 4 runs. My friend then goaded me to go into Karazhan after the Fiery Warhorse the next day, and after 7 attempts no joy so I sent in my Rogue and it dropped! So that was three rare mounts in as many days. I did then try Magister's Terrace for the White Hawstrider but either my luck has run out or it is sticking to one rare mount a day :)

So, my favourite chair is primed for tomorrow morning :)

Been farming Anzu, ever since I found out about Reins of the Raven Lord. Can't count how many runs it took, but it was definitely daily for over a month i'd say. Finally, it decided to drop for me and what a relief! This mount is pretty spiffy, and definitely stands out in a crowd over other mounts. Combine it with Mr. Smite's Brass Compass, and you'll definately stick out like a sore thumb! :]

Along with getting the mount, you'll also receive the achievement Reins of the Raven Lord. A nice little bonus along with the mount! Good luck, and happy farming!

I was farming this and the blue proto-drake at the same time.

I was farming for about two weeks when my proto drake dropped.

and then, about two-three days later, this beauty dropped. :)

Don't give up, you win some, you lose some.

For instance, i have turned in about 900 restored artifacts and still no bug mount. :(

While farming for this mount, be sure to also kill Talon King Ikiss, who is the last boss in Sethekk Halls and is just immediately ahead (within direct viewing distance, even) of Anzu.

* Reason being: this is how you keep track of how many attempts it took you to get the mount. In your achievement statistics, Anzu kills are not recorded; however, Talon King Ikiss kills are.

(Also, for those who are sticklers for the number of attempts, it took me approximately 162 tries, with those being spread across three different characters.)

Well, today on 30 of July,I FINNALY got my Raven Lord. I was farming him on four characters.
And I must say, it took me quite a lot of times and a big amount of nerves.
So, if I out it all together I got it on my 123 run.

Yes, you have read it right.

I have done Setthek Halls 123 times, four times each day. And it was terrible. Almost each second of it. Especially when it hadnt dropped. I almost gave up.

But when I went to do it today, I didnt expect anything and when it dropped, I just froze for about 20 seconds and did nothing. I just stared at my monitor and I was speachelss and breathelss.

But on the end I can say it was worth whole nightmare, I love it.
Best mount asside those Alyssrazors.

And remember.
Never give up on anything.

Sadly, now that the boss no longer needs to be summoned by a druid, and this mount has a chance to drop from the loot bag you get from running randoms as a tank/healer, everyone and their mother has this mount.

Been farming off and on, on several toons for the last 3-4 weeks...doing nearly full clears also got me from barely into Honored with Lower City to barely into Revered (nice side perk if you're going for reputations). On the toon it dropped, it was my 9th or 10th kill. Feeling incredibly lucky. Stick with it, she's worth it.

So the story goes...

I tried for about a year on my druid to get this. Then it changes to any character available to get it. I still don't get it for years or ever even see it. Except for other people using it. I keep trying every so often for another year or so on my US WoW account. Then I move to Europe and I start a whole new account on EU. I try again eventually for a good 6 months but then give up. Eventually I give the account to my brother and a year later I start playing again (on a third account). After 2 years on and off (WoW is kinda boring at this time in my life) I one night decide to go through the game's instances on my main because I'm just so bored.

It's 5:20am and lo and behold, from the depths this thing drops.
I wasn't even expecting it and actually casually blinked past it and just kinda mumbled "Oh..."

That's what years of trying to get this, on and off resulted in. Never-the-less this mount looks lovely and I kinda wish I always had it. Nice to add another 'Feat of Strength' to my account too...

I only ever ran this instance twice on this account all up in total across all of my toons.

That's RNG for ya.

The guys that drop the mind control totems are the Time-Lost Scryer.

They are the more ghostly looking NPC's.

If you accidently aggro one, I would recommend killing them ASAP, as their totems are in-interruptible, for hunters at-least.

I came back to WoW month ago and started on new server.

After reaching 90 (I'm lvling slowly :p) and geared up a bit, I decided to start farming some mounts like Swift White Hawkstrider and pretty Raven Lord.
Yesterday, I queued up for 1st wing of SoO LFR (feral dps) and decided to try Sethekk Halls for a mount chance.. Got into instance, pulled like most rooms to clean them aoe and then just before the room of Anzu my LFR informed me that group is found bla bla.
Killed Anzu when the timer to get to LFR was like 10 secs, opened his body... AND YEAH, MOUNT WAS THERE! I looted it and a sec after it I was already in Vale of Eternal Sorrows.
10 days, after getting Swift White Hawkstrider :)

tl;dr
Looted it a sec before my LFR invite (which I waited for around 40 mins) expired.
Still obtainable, nothing changed :)

How not to be dissapointed when running for any mount:

Do not anticipate the drop, I do it because I get my cloths there with the possibility of a mount.

If you will obsessively run just for this one mount you will burn out quickly, just like my friend did. Instead take it easy and do it whenever you remember to do so. It will drop eventually and you will have a nice surprise.

To all those looking for information I'll give that you but I also wanted to tell my story. 3 months I was farming the raven lord on 4, sometimes 5 if I was bored, toons. I finally got it to drop today, ironically enough on my druid. As a lvl 90 it is so very easy to avoid most of the mobs in this instance (and yes it does have to be on heroic). I ran it on different classes so here are my notes for each:

Warlock: you can easily 1-shot the mobs that guard the door, everything else you can avoid. Build up your chaos bolts and 1 shot the bosses.
Druid: go kitty and stealth past everything, dps boss. My druid is main speced heals, went boomy for the fights, and I was able to get Anzu down before he stealthed 9/10 times.
Shaman: get close to the door guards and just chain lightning them, they go down in 2 seconds. My shammy was not as strongly geared as my other toons so for Anzu I popped hero or incantation (whatever its called) and burned him down before he stealthed.
Priest: Same thing as shammy, just used drain health or its aoe equivalent (I forget what its called, I don't play her much sorry!). For Anzu I popped power surge and got him down before stealth.

On a random note, I also typed #believe before I killed Anzu, do I really think this did anything? No, but ya never know ;). I hope this helps, good luck to all and stay with it you'll get it!

I have a small but fun story about it. Atleast I found it funny.

I started farming mounts and pets a few months ago, and until recently I have been going at it pretty
casual. A few days ago I started noting what to do each day when it comes to both pets and mounts.

I did Sethekk Halls HC on a few level 90 characters. Two hunters, two druids and a warrior.
Nothing.

Then I remembered I had one character on Chromaggus Alliance. A level 84 Mage.
I logged on and teleported (well.. I created Portal: Dalaran. I enjoy portals).
Flew there on my flying carpet and entered the instance.
I didnt have any trouble at all, except that it took longer to kill mobs.

I then finally got up to the raven lord, and I had some issues. I got down to 50% HP when he was at 50%.
I used evocation to keep me up, and it went fine.
Then he went into "immune" at 5000HP, and I fought the birds.
As soon as he came back, I fired Arcane Barrage and at the same time, I died.
We both died. I laughed a little, and found it funny.
Ran back and looted him, then noticed I looted a gem I had not seen before (I'm used to gems dropping since I have been playing a "few" years).

To my amusement, Reins of the Raven Lord dropped. And that on my 6th "official" run, farming for mounts.
I'm now at a total of 113 mounts and 432 unique pets. Yes, pets goes WAY faster compared to mounts.
And I hate farming reputation.

This mount, along with the Reins of the Dread Raven, trigger a special interaction with the Dread Hatchling pet (contained in the Warlords of Dreanor Digital Deluxe edition, along with the Dread Raven mount). A heart will appear over the Dread Hatchlings head when either of these mounts are summoned.

I used to run this heroic almost every day before Wrath of the Lich King. I never did other heroics, never raided, just did heroic Sethekk Halls almost every day. Back then, I never even saw it drop. Not once. Wrath came and went, and I moved on to other mounts. I farmed Skyguard and Netherwing rep, amassed a pile of mounts (most of which were not dungeon or raid mounts, though that has changed recently) and right after I got my main to 90 in MoP--I stopped playing, for over a year.

A month ago, I started playing again. I slowly worked up MoP reps and gained other mounts, even got geared for and have been doing raids! It's only recently that I've started to run out of MoP reps to grind and have turned back to older mounts and pets.

So, I've decided to start farming the old heroics. Tonight, just before I went to bed, I ran Sethekk Halls. I wanted it to be the for sure thing I did every day, because Anzu is one of my most favorite mounts. As I get to Anzu, I don't expect the mount to drop. Not at all. I make a note of it in the notebook I keep, to put it on my daily farming list, and I go to loot Anzu--

the reins were literally the second item in the loot window. No joke. Back in BC I never even saw it drop, and my very first run through drops it now. Needless to say, I'm going to sleep right now absolutely ecstatic.

My point is, don't give up! It'll drop for you one of these days! Even if that day is 3 expansions and a year-long break in the future. You can do it!

After many long months of farming over 2 expansions and several long break/returns to wow I finally got the mount.

The maddeningly hilarious bit came much later when, after thinking myself done with ever setting foot in Sethek Halls again, I went in farming netherweave for an alt. Didn't even intend to run heroic as there is more trash in Anzu's room on normal, but there he was. I shrugged and killed him. To my horror there, shining all purply in the loot window, was the reins AGAIN.

So the bastard dropped 2 in a row for me, and I had to DELETE one. I died a little inside.

I run this on 15 separate characters every day, I've never seen it drop once (just like I'm running Headless Horseman on 12 and nothing nothing nothing).

My girlfriend, who had never even played WoW before until I got her into it earlier this year, went into Sethekk Halls ONCE and it dropped for her.

Parked 8 90s outside the instance and ran it for roughly 2 weeks before it dropped. RNG is RNG, of course, but the key is clearly maximizing your number of daily chances and then actually being diligent about the runs.

It's also wise not to go into it with an expectation of success. I had pretty much reserved myself to some epic, 12-month grind for the thing, and was pleasantly surprised when it just dropped on my 4th run of the day.

Obviously, the people here going 'don't worry, it will SURELY drop for you eventually!' are just using this thread as a vehicle to self-congratulate. I'm trying to avoid doing the same. To the poor people miserably fighting for this thing for years, you have nothing but my condolences, and no amount of reassurance is going to make the drop any more real for you. I'm not even going to say 'keep trying!' because, let's face it, it may never drop... or it may drop tomorrow.

But encouragement is likely the last thing you want to hear from someone who just got the mount.
