To add to Silent J (which by the way was pretty genius I must say).. There's also a quest for buzzard wings (or something similar) however you kill a buzzard but no wings.. Yet some moments earlier to your attack the lil' bastard was flying around happy as Larry with, you guessed it.. 2 wings. So really, logic of that nature really goes out the window with WoW. In my opinion, if it drops for a Tauren the poor lil' bird should have knee bracers... Or Tauren should get 2... One for each leg.

Though it does require level 60, the quest you need to complete to get into Magister's Terrace Heroic requires level 70, so there's no hope of anyone under 70 getting this mount.

Droprate seems about 1/80
Dropped for me aswell on my second run, pietfully i rolled a 81 while the mage rolled a 90.
Well atleast i got my dagger and the run went pretty speedy :)
As a Final Fantasy fan i was hoping to get the white version though :(

Also...another impossible fact in the World of Warcraft...u can poison elementals(we all know that poison affects the organism thing that elementals don't have) and those huge bosses....i mean how did kael'thas, vashj and illidan grew so big ? weren't they small like us in the first place ? What did they eat ? .I don't want to advertise on a page about world of warcraft but really...guild wars i much more reallistic that wow by far.

Thoes Blood Elves need to work on their coloring schemes. The gilded armor would'a looked better if it was black with silver gilding, and a red gem instead of a fel crystal thing. Could'a just went without armor too...

Curious if they changed the code to disallow 80s from farming the instance for the Hawkstrider? I realize that it's a 1% drop rate, but, have farmed this every day since 80, and not seen it once.

That being said, could just be my terribad luck with mounts.

I was extremely lucky with my drop, just got it today; I wasn't even attuned to H: MT yet (hehe was too lazy back in BC) and finished up the atunement. First run ever in MT and it drops, had to out roll my entire family but I got it :D

Ok, Downrate this post If you like but im just wondering...or more surprised why im not seeing no "I solo'd this" posts.... Atleast a druid who can stealth...is it impossible? im going to attempt to with my almost topped out in gear prot pally. If it does not work im going to get my resto shamman friend to duo it daily....That means I have tio farm til mount drops twice...but if thats what it takes.

I do Selin solo on my Warrior.

Vexallus blows me up before I can down him. Some more gear and it would be possible. Just a dps race.

Delrissa is pretty easy on regular so I'm guessing it wouldn't be as bad as Vexallus.

Kael'thas seems like it's dependent on class. A class such as a DK with magic mitigatin abilities and pets could do it.
Druids and Pally's could probably pull it off.
I don't see my Prot War doing it though. It's pretty rough 2 man, the other person doesn't take much damage at all though.

The Swift White Hawkstrider is a very fast mount that drops from Kael'thas Sunstrider in the Magisters' Terrace on heroic mode. It is the only hawkstrider mountable by members of the Alliance. Before the release of Patch 3.0.8 it was also the only hawkstrider mountable by Tauren player characters.

Hey guys, just wanted to confirm that on 2/26/2009 as a Death Knight I officially looted the White Hawkstrider. It is definitely still in game @ about 3% drop rate. I got it on my 8th solo run, just wanted to give you people still trying to solo this boss a sign of hope.

Hints to soloing as a blood DK: First boss do not dps the crystals he drains (they have a ton of hp) Second boss: take your time nice and slow always making you're topped off and always killing your wave of 2 orbs. This slow method allows you to be maxed hp when the last 2 orbs fall and just dps through him. Another key point to remember is always death strike, it'll heal you for like 15k if you have vampiric blood activated with orb buffs. Third Boss: always let the priestess and dranei shaman run out of mana, so pick a squishy target and try to burst it down with a good strangulate on the healer. again keep yourself alive rather than focusing on dps; the shaman and priest WILL go OOM. Fourth Boss: On Kael I would get up my full dots and only use my 10 second CD Mind Freeze on his fireballs; eat the fireballs you can't Mind Freeze and save your AMS and IBF at this point for Pyroblast. Dodge fire pillars obviously. Once the phoenix hatches, keep on Kael and let the phoenix "burn itself out" it will run out of hp and explode (spamming Heart Strike helped kill the phoenix fast cleaving off Kael). Kill the egg then back on Kael, rinse repeat til 50%. If you still have a phoenix or 2 up during Gravity Lapse phase, its vital to kill them before downing Kael.

They must have increased the drop rate a LOT since BC.

Before WoTLK, ever since the Sunwell patch came out, I've been farming for this darn thing every day, for lord knows how many months. Then, yesterday, the weirdest thing happened, it dropped on our first heroic run. Then TODAY it drops AGAIN! Two drops in two days, what are the odds? Blizz must be making it drop MUCH more than 3% in order for us to have gotten it first try, in two days straight.

If you have got luck the mount drops for you the first time you are in there. Like it did for me.
Me and my friend though hey let's farm some of all the mount that drops and we went thought ZG and Startholm and then we decided to do MGT. We didn't really thought that the mount would drop but it did.
In my oppinon I think that this really is the mount that has the highest drop chance.

What you calculated was the chance to drop at least once on either day.

Sort of in response to the "can it be solo'd" comments:

As a feral druid tank who has best in slot gear for probably 3/5 of the slots, I have solo'd all of heroic magister's terrace a few times now.

Selin is easy, just burn down the crystals when he channels and pop cooldowns if needed.

Vexallus is a very fun fight to solo. If you just leave the orbs alone, you'll take too much damage and die. The trick to this fight is to kill every single orb that appears. This will place a massive DoT on you, but it will also increase the damage you do. It becomes a bit of a dps race, so pop cooldowns and burn him down fast while destroying every orb.

Delrissa has the potential to be very difficult or very easy, depending on the adds. If there are no adds that pose an immediate threat, I like to open in cat form for the pounce stun (pounce mangle shred maim) then go bear, pop berserk, and mangle spam. Delrissa should be your main target, but when mangle is on cooldown and lacerate doesn't need refreshing, swipe or use glyphed maul to do some damage to the other targets. Delrissa will then have to spend time healing the adds instead of herself, giving you more time to kill her. You'll definitely need cooldowns though.

Kael himself is tricky. The best way I've found to beat him is to put on dps gear, switch to cat form, pop berserk, and do as much damage to kael as you can before you get low on health. The reason for this is that you have a set amount of time in which you need to get him down to a certain HP point (60%?), otherwise he'll bubble and cast a 50k pyroblast on you. So go all out on phase 1 and beat the pyroblast timer. Once you get to phase 2, the gravity phase, you've pretty much won. The AoE damage is negligible in bear form at level 80, and you can always go cat form to burn down kael when you get the chance.

Good luck if you try to solo this place; it's not easy. I haven't gotten my mount yet, so I probably should get back in there some time.

A good tip to kill Vexallus:

The Wyrms in the room before him will give a buff when they die that increases damage by 1%, stacking 25 times. With that and the buffs from the orbs he dies quite fast (Just watch your health).

You lose the debuff from the orbs when he dies.

What aggravates me is the fact that Horde aren't able to get an equivalent Elekk mount from a drop. Alliance get raptors and Horde get tigers in ZG, why couldn't Horde get an Elekk from an instance? Obviously it wouldn't be Magisters' Terrace given the heavy BE presence but surely there must be a few Eredar (Draenei bosses seem... rarer) bosses who would not be needing any sort of mount after you're through with them...

Got the mount yesterday. Did it with prot tank and frost mage. I won the roll by 7 :) I got it after about 8 runs, so the drop rate must be somewhat higher than 2%.

I think it put me in first place for most feat-awarding mounts on my server (Kael'thas)...This is my 4th one.

I aquired this mount yesterday. I could solo it but usually have a friend who isnt interested in mounts, LOL. But it is easy with decent gear. I dont have full Naxx or any Uldar. But i've ran it about 9 times i would think. I still havn't gotten the counts horse and i cant count the times ive done that one. At least over 40 times easy. But keep tryin and good things will come to those who are persistant.

Heroic Magister's Terrace is soloable as a MAGE now, so anyone can get this mount. I've soloed it three times already as a mage but I haven't seen the mount yet. The instance is not that hard anymore if you know what you are doing.

Being Alliance, I had never payed any attention to hawkstrider animations and gave this mount far too little credit.

Its beautiful. It glances around with those jerky head-motions that you would expect of a large bird, it will sometimes lean forward and open its mouth, and it will occasionally turn its head to preen its left wing. When running it lowers its head. And its running animation is very smooth compared to the awkward way the horses and rams of the game move.

My pocket healer and I were making our usual mount-farming runs this afternoon.

When we were in ZG, after killing the High Priest Thekal, just as I'm about to loot, he says, "He never drops the tiger." And what do my eyes see as I blink in disbelief? Oh yes, that's right--a Swift Zulian Tiger.

Fast-forward to about an hour later. We're now running MT. KT goes down, and my healer says, "He. Never. Drops. The. Mount." Wham, bam, Swift White Hawkstrider.

So, remember--Blizzard has your home bugged, and they will push drops through to prove you wrong when you start @#$%^ing.

Actually since 63.6% is significantly closer to 2/3 than 1/2 it should have dropped about twice as much as it shouldn't.

I'm resto / elemental combat shaman and heroic MGT is definitely soloable as one. It takes some skill and gear, I have mostly ilvl 245-226 gear with two pieces of t9, so that definitely helps.
I could say, that the main point soloing this as shaman is: if you can't burst one or two mobs down quick enough, then outheal their damage and magma totem + flame shock them down =).

First boss is Selin Fireheart. Just burst him down if you can do it, but if he hits too hard, change to resto and outheal his damage and slowly kill him. Overall really easy fight.

The second boss is trickier: Vexallus. Don't even try this fight as ele, he hits way too hard. Go as resto and start with same strategy as Selin. You will need to heal more often though. When he spawns two sparks, melee them immediately (they have only 40 health or so, will die from one melee hit) and always keep your health full. When the adds go down you receive a nasty debuff and you will need to completely focus on healing yourself. He spawns adds at certain intervals, so be ready and never let your health fall too low or he will unlucky crit you to your death :<. At 20 % health he overloads and his damage gets higher over time, so burn him down fast at that point. Not too difficult, but expect to wipe here a few times when you try it out.

The most difficult boss will be Priestess Delrissa hands down. The "trick" here is to check which adds she picks up. Look down at the first bridge after the entrance so you can mouse-over the adds and reset the instance. Remember to do this right away when you start, because if you kill any bosses, you will get saved and can't reset anymore! You will want four out of five from these guys with Delrissa:

Warlock
Mage
Hunter
Enha Shaman
Engineer

Shaman is not too difficult if the other adds are easy, just try to burst him down as fast as possible. I couldn't solo this boss if the monk, rogue or warrior was there. Monk and rogue stun and silence you all the time and you can't hex them all. Warrior applies mortal strike, so bye bye healing. You can always try your luck with one difficult mob there with hex + heroism + elemental mastery + every cd, but I would recommend reseting it so you get easier adds. Monk, rogue and warrior are really awful and you should avoid them. They will wipe you many times if you pick up too difficult combo. I almost lost my motivation when I tried to do this with a really hard combo, but the next day when it was way easier I got it back =). I could also say, that when they get other target to beat up, your nuking will become so much easier so you should drop Fire Elemental in this fight. It helps you to burst your main target down more quickly and also adds some nice fire aoe to burn the remaining ones down too. Don't forget to thunderstorm either if the melee damage gets too rough.

The fourth and last boss will be Kael'thas himself. You need to be ele in here. This fight is almost pure nuking from start to end. You will need to keep grounding up so you won't suck all those fireballs and interrupt him so your health won't fall too low. Ignore the phoenix add, and continue to burn Kael down to 50 % health. He must be reduced to 50 % before he casts pyroblast, because that can't be interrupted and it will 1-shot you. If the pheonix is too much trouble, kill the egg that will spawn a short while after the pheonix has despawned, so it won't spawn again. When you get Kael down to 50 % he casts gravity lapse. You will just need to dodge those arcane orb thingies and continue to nuke him. Remember to heal too, because gravity damages you over time. When you down him, hope for the best, it could always be your lucky day =)!

In the end: don't give up even if you wipe many times. Practice will make you better and you wipe less and less. I wiped many times at first and second try, but I didn't give up and now I have the mount and I love it <3. Good luck and have fun farming!

Finally got this bad boy today on my 23rd kill. :) In all honesty, I'd given up on it ever dropping, and was just running for the rep at this point (currently at 18750/21000 revered). Yesterday for kicks I decided to duo it with a feral druid friend of mine who happened to already have it... and it dropped! :D One more run until I hit exalted, then I'm done with it forever! (At least until my friends decide to drag me along since they know I won't roll on the mount....)

Duo'd as a surv hunter and feral drood, was super easy for us since we're decently geared.

This makes mount number 85. 15 to go to 100!

Yea I know how you feel Chronios, me and my friend had mount run day yesterday. I must say we had a lot of luck, first we went into Zul'Gurub for raptor and tiger mount, tiger droped and I got it. Later on we went to MGT, first run and the Swift White Hawkstrider droped, I passed it to my friend and we were both very happy that we got 2 rare mounts at the same day. So peoples that farm them, do not give up because the mount didint drop the first runs, keep farming and you will be rewarded with the mount you farm. Also after we got our mounts we used winterfall firewater + pygmy oil in Ironforge to become big as possible to flex with the mounts :)

Been running H MgT 85 times now(tracked via statistics) and still no chicken. This is starting to %^&*ing me off because I have been farming this mount for nearly 3 months now with no luck, but every time I see someone with the mount, their statistics have only 1-10 Kael'thas kills.

ive soloed mgt hc on my feral druid and on my warrior so far. as feral its very simply and takes 10-15minutes. on my warrior its significantly more difficult and im running with dual specc arms pvp and 0/31/40 prot with bloodthirst and bloodthirst glyph for maximized healing.

selin fireheart, vexallus are bosses that are just the same on druid and warrior - just that i need 10 times longer with my warrior on everyone with a bloodthirst, shield slam and revenge rotation which always keeps me topped. on my druid i stay in cat with berserking up. for both: on vexallus i immediatly kill the spawns with catswipe/cleave and usually im fast enough to succeed comfortably.

the pvp encounter is very simple on my druid and very hard on my warrior. on my druid i open with berserking from stealth, pup up savage roar and swipe all down at once - fight takes 6-8 seconds max. on my warrior i use my arms pvp specc and pvp gear, charge, MS bladestorm like a good wotlk warrior on the princess. she will die, but her friends wont usually. the moment she dies i pop 1h shield shield wall enraged regen and get the last adds down, which is usually pretty close anyway somehow. possible i should just stay in battle stance and keep cleaving, dunno.

finally, kael is again a joke for the druid. cat with berserking, no pyro due to obscene dps, ignore pheonix, kite the 3 balls and put up mangle rake every now and then when you can, shift out for lifebloom/rejuv and dont forget nuturing instincts talents. on my warrior i go back to my fury/prot specc and slowly hit kael down, phoenix spawns, i kill it and the egg while i eat some fireballs. then i bloodthirst myself up to 100% while interrupting and spellreflecting every fireball he throws at me until he finally casts pyroblast since my dps is crap, even in dps gear. so i pop battlemaster last stand shield wall to eat the pyro, enraged regen afterwards and from there its simply a matter of time (note that you cant interrupt nor spellreflect the pyroblast ^^). kite the 3 bubbles, swim quick to him, bloodthirst for healing, rend, kite. equip as much pvp gear as you can, cause the damaging aura during gravity lapse will procc blood craze and it will procc more the more res you wear due to its implementation of not screwing with talents that rely on getting critted even though the ability cant even crit. ^^

Finally got this mount after two (2) manning it with a rogue and a mage at level 80. I got it on my 70th kill, after running it every day, every day since early December 2009.

I figured out how to kill everything but Kael on heroic as rogue. If anybody will succeed in killing him aswell before I do - post tactic plz :)
So. I use 2 specs for this:
1st is standart combat build with KS
2nd is - 50 in combat w/o taking KS and up to preparation in subtility. (with CoS and evasion glyphs)

So stealth to the 1st boss and kill mobs in his room using 1st build (KS and BF should be easy).
Respec to 2nd build. Open up with Garrote -> Ghostly strike -> Adrenaline rush -> Evasion and then just dps him until he goes to orb. Continue dpsing, use preparation and again Evasion+CoS when he finished chanelling the orb. GG.

Sleath up to the 2nd boss. Spec to the 1st build. Its a bit tricky and you will need a few wipes to figured out the fight. The idea is simple - gather 2-3 buffs from Pure Energy and then burst him down using Killing Spree and CoS to protect yourself at the last seconds of fight. Use any trinkets increasing AP if you have. (CoS glyph is usefull too).

3rd boss is amazingly easy. Just sap one add, blind another and use Blade Furry , evasions, KS. Same with the pack before Kael.

At Kael i did 30-40% best attempt. Gonna try bursting him down with KS when the 2nd phase begins. The problem is Phoenix , whos fireballs hit me very hard in the 2nd phase.

update.
KIlled Kael today. Here is the tactic. use 1st mentioned build (combat). Instant poison MH, Deadly OH. Open up garrote, evasion, adrenaline rush and immediatly kick his fireball cast. Continue this way without using Killing Spree and AP trinkets/items. When Phoenix comes slow dps a bit and allow him to come close to you. Then use CoS and Blade Furry and continue dpsing Kael. Phoenix should die simultaneously.
I usually get through 1st phase with full hp or full-1 fireball dmg if im not lucky to resist it.
2nd phase - evade spheres. The goal is to keep Deadly Poisons up all the time, using Shiv asap.
When Kael lands you pop-up trinkets and use KS and Eviscerate (you should have 5 combo points after Shiv).
Should you fail at killing him - use some healing pots and repeat through Gravity Lapse.

gonna make movie to show it exact maybe.

ps. need to mention my gs is 5k+ (with 7k+ dps). may be a lot harder with less dps and worse gear.

I successfully solo'd Magisters Terrace on heroic difficulty as bloodthirst/prot spec in full pve tanking gear with around 40k hp. First boss is easy, tank and spank, throw sunders up, blood thirst on cooldown, and heroic strike dump if you have rage, when he swaps to the crystal kill it and pop shield block after he drains most of it he will virtually hit you for nothing.

Second boss is fairly tricky but when he spawns the orbs I cleave to kill them (using glyph of cleaving) (works most of the time, I have had attempts where the cleave would not hit the orb so I had to re-adjust the boss in order to kill it) and if my health drops low I use enraged regen.

Third boss is fairly simple too but it gets fairly close sometimes depending on stuns on you since you cannot mitigate the damage usually start off with the priest interrupt her heals, shield slam her renews and pw:s and burn her, she may land some heals but she shouldn't be a problem then its a matter of time (I have had a bug, still unaware of why it happens but on multiple attempts, maybe 6 or so, I found myself unable to receive loot or the badge but I receive the rep for the kill, strange bug but not a big deal).

Finally, Kael is fairly simple but it took me around 7 attempts to find a strategy that worked, what I do is blood rage melee swing at the start and spell reflect the first fireball, then interrupt the second and I followed this rotation, when he spawns the phoenix you want to interrupt his cast, drag him to the phoenix the I go full dps on the phoenix you don't want to drag him into the pyroblast phase while the phoenix is still up this can be very very bad. Since my dps isn't to great I cannot out damage the shield and interrupt it in the cast time so what I do is take the hit, this spell hits very very hard around 40k on average, so what I do is pop shield wall (unglyphed) for the 60% damage reduction and I use Corroded Skeleton Key at this time which reduced the spells damage to ~9k damage then I proceed to burn Kael into the gravity lapse phase when there is no phoenix up! At this point the fight gets fairly boring as I tend to swim down and sit roughly 1 foot above the ground as touching the ground sends you back up into the air, then I stay as far away from Kael as possible so the orbs stack together and come towards me, then I strafe around the orbs moving towards Kael, and blood thirst and do what ever I can within my time beside him then as the orbs start to move closer I rinse and repeat until he is weakened, this phase is very slow as a prot warrior since we are limited to one ranged attack (2 for myself). On an average Kael'thas attempt I go through around 4-5 gravity lapse casts before I finish him off.

Glyphs used:
Bloodthirst
Cleaving
Enraged Regeneration (will probably swap with Revenge for the dps increase since rage is usually an issue)

Spec used:
Bloodthrist/Prot solo build 0/32/39 I spec'd into vigilance since I use this spec for 2 manning mc with my elemental shaman friend, this point can be put elsewhere along with the point in piercing howl, it's all personal preference there are many variations of this build that can be used effectively.
(Have solo'd many TBC heroics with this spec, tested on Ramparts, Blood Furnace, Shattered Halls, Magister's Terrace, Under Bog, Auchenai Crypts, Shadow Labyrinth.)

This is also achievable using half protection, half dps gear, I tried this and sat around 16% chance to crit unbuffed, 10% armorpen, ~ 4k attack power, 38k hp, and hit capped.

For Prot Pally I found the whole instance relatively easy... with exception of Kael!

No particular strat needed for any boss, just burn them all down, the PVP fight is relatively simple as nothing does a lot of damage and you will just drain the mobs mana as they try to heal themselves... the trash was actually more difficult than anything up to that point!

Kael is a different story... as most people have said, it is a pure DPS race... Prot just doesn't cut it in my experience and unfortunately my Ret gear wasn't too spectacular at the time I was trying to Solo - so before you go, ensure you have a spare set of gear around the 3k DPS mark!

P.S. After several failed attempts I went with my brother (5k GS War), we downed him in seconds and the mount dropped! I won roll, he cried... now I have to keep running it with him until it drops again :( (or the Tiger/Raptor drops for him in ZG)

I run Heroic Magister's Terrace once every day with my friend. In 8 runs we've gotten 4 mounts. Every second run the mount drops. My friend and I now both have the mount, and the same mount in our bank. Lol.....

I went into Heroic mode a few times when i was lvl 70 - and i started farming it with a friend and i won roll though. We went in there 5 times and it dropped.

This is cake for a Retribution Paladin. Seal of Light/Judgement of Light and BoK. You'll steamroll your way through! Use your Art of War procs in conjunction with Sacred Sheild and a full clear shouldn't take you more than 20 minutes.

I often solo MT hc on my Enhancement shaman,, (I just pop wolves at every boss and using pvp spec, with absorb totem) It's really easy, I can do it in less than 20 min.

I do it like every day,, but that damn mount never drops =/

I was inspired to start pharming for this mount again after an ex-guildie got his Mountain O Mounts achievement. Since RNG has not been kind to me as of late (at least in ICC25) I decided to follow the just-make-it-a-daily-routine run as other posters have mentioned for the ZA tiger runs.

Not much to add as solo ret spec that others have not already stated. Keep SS up, SoC on multi-mobs, fire protection aura on Kel, nuke, nuke, nuke.

The pet dropped on my 7th kill, the mount dropped last night on my 8th kill. Now if I can just keep THAT kind of RNG flowing...

Just soloed as a DRAENEI (this will be relevant) 80 prot warrior, in Emblem of Triumph gear with some heroic bits, took a few attempts
getting thru the trash was the hardest part until kael

i started with Recklessness -> back to def stance -> charge -> shield slam, reflect/bash his fireballs when you can and just focus dps on him, when he spawns the phoenix use Gift of the Naaru for a mini heal, use cleave and shockwave to dps down the phoenix so kael is on about 60-70% when it dies so you can nuke down the egg and still get him to 50% (first few attempts had a 2nd phoenix :[ ) pop last stand/frenzied regen when you can, save shield wall if you can for last minute save, dont forget to use heroic throw on him while kiting the orbs away and pop regen/gift of naaru when theyre up, used a health pot and bandage between gravity wells, managed to bandage twice and use all my other CDs twice.. but once hes at 20% jump stance and just execute spam and hell be down in no time!

i hate the new character feed... it literally tells you that "yes, you still haven't got it after 101 runs, while someone got it on 2nd"

i solo it nearly everyday on my elemental shaman ....
pretty easy with icc gear, no need to be in pvp spec or any gimmick resilience, i sometimes even do it with glyphed thunderstorm (without knockback)
most mobs are lower than 30k hp, just drop a fire/frost resist totem, burst one melee down asap, then 5 packs shouldn't be big problem,
just hex one if u feel pain at mob pulls, use root totem wisely on kiting, and of course, heal yourself.

1st boss - just dps and do some self heal, he hits like a girl
2nd boss - i use rock guy here to tank a bit, bcus boss does arcane melee which is pain, make sure u tag 2-3 orbs with chain lightning so u can kill it before it kills u
arena boss - i use fire guy here to start fight so all 5 will charge to it first, then lust and burst 1-2 down (usually in order of warrior > rogue > fist guy > others), after that it's easy, remember to drop tremor just in case
kael - just drop fire resist and dps, rock guy could be up by now, if so just drop it to taunt off a fire ball or two

Well, been farming MGT solo with my Shaman, for rep, mount, trinket and orb. I got the mount on my 9th run, wich was last night, and got the orb today (10th run). Will my 11th run give me the pet? Haha :)

The funny thing is that I'm running mgt with a hunter friend, but yesterday and today he couldn't come, guess he's gonna pretty mad when he comes back.

Easily soloable by any hunter not suffering from downs. Simply MD/Heal pet and blow CDs, you should hit air phase without even seeing the phoenix. And by that time it's over, hes usually about 24% when he throws me up in the air, 2 seconds later Kill Shot is active and it's over from there.

I got this a few nights ago on my second ever heroic kill of Kael'thas. I've been 2 manning it with a Ret pally (I play a Mage myself) and we plow through it in about 10 minutes (she's 5700 gs and I'm 6k so its easy), but I guess I just got really lucky and our deal was I win the first one so yea... :D

Still no pet or orb yet, tryin to snag those too before her mount drops, but this is a pretty sick mount I've actually switched to it from my Mechano-Hog.. good luck to ya'll.

Got this today on my shaman during my daily soloing of the the place. This was day 16 for me and, if you are a class that can regularly solo this place, not only will you have a shot at this, the pet, and the orb, but you also can make a steady profit off the enchanting mats. If you had to choose one mount to solo for, I'd definitely recommend making this your first choice as the profit margin for running this really starts to add up over time.

soloed mgt hc on 23 of May 2010 as mage. The name is Kelfecil of twilight's hammer and i have a gear score of ~5400.

1.blink through the first 3 packs+skip pats.
2.kill packs of mobs in 1st boss's room.
3.kill 1st boss (i one-shotted this guy since he was easy to kite due to the little ledge in the room and the fact that the aoe he does is resisted)
4.clear trash before vexallus.
5.kill vexallus (took me 3 tries.)
What i did was pop everything, absorb 4 spheres and ice block. Then repeat with the next 4 spheres. It's all about dps and fast targetting.
6.blink , invisibility through all the trash and get in front of delrissa.
7.kill 3rd boss. (2 tries)
This fight is cc focused. I start with sheep, pop mirror image and elemental, kill delrissa and then anything melee that remains.
8.blink through last pack (i killed it for safety).
9.kill the once-mighty kael'thas. (one-shotted).
Pretty much the easiest fight. Popped eveyrthing from the start and got him to 50% really fast. Only distraction was the phoenix. As for the 2nd phase i had managed to solo it at level 70 alone with a health pot and t5 gear, so doing it now at lvl 80 was piece of cake.

I have done 101 runs and have lost mount 4 times back in tbc. So that is the reason i started farming this place alone.
I will soon post a video of my run on youtube!
And as i always say, if i can do it on my mage then you can do it on any class! (mage = the weakest link)

Here is a quick guide to help my fellow rogues get the mount.
(I'm a combat rogue with 5.5K gearscore)

Stealth to the first boss, Selin Fireheart. Kill the three groups of mobs here. They can be a little tricky, so Sap one and Blind one. I made a macro and set a focus on one of them, so I didn't have to target and click, just click. If you have problems dealing with them, pop some CDs.

On Selin, I basically used all CD's on him. When he goes to the crystal I used Killing Spree then went back to melee on him. I usually took some damage during that part, but at the end of the fight usually ended up with 30-40% health.

Next to Vexallus. The wyrms in the main room can be a pain and you may want to use Evasion and/or Adrenaline Rush as needed. I usually didn't have to unless they hit me harder than usual. You can just stand underneath them and they will aggro as a pack on you. Use Fan of Knives to work them down, while kiting them as you regain energy. I found that I had to eat/bandage between the two packs. Make sure you are at full health before starting another pack.

On Vexallus I would use a distract on him to get his back to me. Open up and use CD's. When the adds spawn, kill both of them then go back to the boss. He will spawn two more, but keep on the boss. He will die pretty quick. I often looked at my recount and found that I did over 10K dps on him with the buff you get from killing the first two adds.

Stealth past everything until Delrissa. Sap one mob and Blind another after you start the fight. The macro comes in handy here. Delrissa will heal herself, which you can try to interrupt, but you should be putting out enough dps to not worry about it. This fight can be a little tricky depending on what you get.

The next pack of mobs before Kael'thas is also tricky. Sap/Blind two mobs. This pack seems to hit harder than other groups, so be prepared to blow some CD's. Eat up after your done.

On Kael'thas I used a distract on him to get his back to me. Open up and go to town. I found that sometimes he immediately casted fireball and sometimes it was several seconds into the fight that he cast it. If he didn't cast it right away, I usually didn't use Evasion until after my Kick was on CD. I popped all CDs on him except for Killing Spree. If you get lucky enough to avoid the phoenix and go straight into P2, you should have pretty high health; 75% or more. It's cake after this. I would pull the orbs to me at the entrance to the room, then go past them back to Kael'thas and use Fan of Knives. This helps dps him down while you wait for the phase to be over. After its over, I simply used Killing Spree on him and melee as needed.

If you get the phoenix during P1, make sure to kill it ASAP. You wont be able to dodge the fireballs during P2 if it is still up and you have burned Evasion.

Buff list:
Drums of Forgotten Kings
Drums of the Wild
Runescroll of Fortitude
Hearty Rhino
Lesser Flask of Resistance

After getting some fort scrolls and the ArPen food, I had about 26K health. The resistance flask is handy during P2 if you get low on health. If I was unlucky and missed a kick or two on Kael'thas' fireball, I would usually have to pop a health pot. If you miss a kick on 2-3 fireballs, I doubt you'll win the fight. They hit for about 5-5.5K. If you know you are going to die, just Vanish. He will disappear and give you time to get to the entrance of his room and heal up/wait for CDs until you can fight him again.

It took me several tries on the first three bosses to figure out each fight; and many tries on Kael'thas to figure out his fight. Just hang in there, you'll get it. I downed him 13 times and looted the mount today. I also saw the Phoenix Hatchling drop twice, the Orb of the Sin'dorei drop once and Pattern: Windstrike Gloves drop on my first run. The drop rate on the mount is pretty good at 3%, compared to other mount bosses.

I've been farming for this mount for a couple of weeks now, which I haven't gotten. Yet.
A little to-do list which I use. I must admit, my gear may be a bit 'good', not sure if this will impact anyone largely, I've got about 8,5k AP and 50k (50.017 to be exact) HP in bear, depending on how I do the bosses, this will be relevant.

1) I stealth past all the mobs until the boss' room, where I gather up all the mobs, and maul+swipe them down(got the glyph of maul). When it comes to the boss, I get mangle + 5x lacerate up, use mangle again, pop berserking and spam maul+mangle, boss will go down very easily.

2) I try to pull 1 of the pack of wyrms at a time, to be safe, they can hurt like a mofo if you pull all 3 packs. After that, if I have mangle up again, I will wait until I have gotten 2-4 stacks of debuff on me, then I will pop berserking and mangle+maul spam again. Pop berserking WHENEVER YOU FEEL LIKE IF YOU NEED IT. Again, easy.

3) I stealth past all the mobs here, except for the last sentinel, to get rage up for the boss. This might be a little bit trickier. I noticed that if she is casting when I would normally kill her, she will go to 1 HP, finish the cast, and get healed. I do generally not pop berserking here, I will do mangle, 5x lacerate, and then only spam maul, because it is not affected by the GCD, so I can cast bash when I needed, to kill her. After she is down, the adds will go down easily.

4) Kael'thas can STILL kill me, depending on my patience/forgetness. I will run in, get my rage up, beat him down, and when he spawns the pheonix, I will pop berserking, mangle+maul killing the phoenix and the egg, and also to push Kael'thas into P2, when he goes into P2, I try to have a 5 stack of Lacerate up on him, when it is falling off, I will charge and do a lacerate on him. When he drops you down, go beat on his ass, rinse and repeat.

Do NOT be discouraged to try this, you never know if you can do it or not, and you might get the mount, pet and/or enchanting recipies, orb of the sin'dorei and other such goodies. Best of luck!

OK WE GET THE POINT! prot pala´s and druids can solo it. if you have enough armor and can heal yourself, you can solo it. i´ll prob have a hard time soloing it on normal with my priest. cant w8 til cata when the armor differences wont be as drastic.

i want to see posts from clothies who can solo it. locks, save the gimpguard tanking stories, having a pet thats almost like a warrior doesnt count. it prob can be void tanked too.

Took me 20 runs to get this beauty as a ret pala starting at about ilvl 232 average when i first did it. I had some issues in the start because i had only played holy for months but as I started getting an average ilvl of 251 ret in addition to MAJOR FACEROLLING SKILLS i just plowed my way through it easily.

Should have read the comments here earlier tho, didn't know I could reset the instance to change the setup of the third boss hehe. I'll keep that in mind for my shaman ^^

Alright, I tried soloing this as a shadowpriest for the first time yesterday, and got through the whole thing with no deaths. I did it for the second time today and died a couple times. It's not easy, but it's not that hard either. Use a PVP spec for the silence and psychic horror and the stun/silence duration reductions, and I would definitely recommend glyph of inner fire and dispersion. I used full PVE gear (I have icc25 level gear with some healing pieces and no dps trinkets).

Basically shield yourself whenever you possibly can, and if things get scary on trash put dots on a few mobs and run away/dispersion while they die. Another great tactic for both bosses and trash is to cast shadowfiend and then fade - all the mobs will switch to your shadowfiend and you'll have a few seconds to heal up if you need it.

Tactics on specific sections:

First boss - just nuke him. His damage actually seems to be the highest of the four bosses to an 80 clothie since it's almost all physical. He can't interrupt or anything so don't be scared to pop out and heal if you notice your life dipping, but if your gear is good enough you can just nuke him and shield whenever possible and you should be ok. I ignored the crystal the first time, killed it the second, didn't notice any real difference in damage taken. Dispel the life drain immediately. I'd suggest just eating the mana drain if he casts it as you're not taking any damage while he does it.

Wyrms - this is the part that killed me the second time. Aim for a wyrm that's as far as possible to either the right or left and just open with mind sear. If you aim for one in the middle you'll probably get both groups, and they will kill you in seconds if they are all able to get to you. If you pull too many your mindsear will do very little damage and they won't die fast enough.

Vexallus - just all-out nuke him while maintaining shield, but make sure you throw SWP on the first two orbs that spawn. The damage buff helps a lot for the self-healing from VE. I ignored all the rest of the orbs, he dies fast. Your life will probably start dipping by the end but if your gear is good enough it won't be too bad since you're healing yourself for much more than normal.

Post-vexallus trash mobs - I would usually put 3 dots on the blood knights (they heal if you don't kill them quick), two on the succubus, and two on the mage guard and then run away to let the dots tick before they got to me (and to line of sight the casters). The ethereals and physicians are also high priority kill targets as they do a lot of melee damage. Most pulls only have 2-3 of these more dangerous mobs in them. The casters (warlocks and mages) are the least threatening cause most of their spells resist, but it's still a good idea to avoid standing out in the open in front of them since some of them will still hit you. Just make sure you burn down the melee quick, they hit hard on cloth and you will die very fast if you aren't careful. You'll probably end up kiting back into the previous rooms a lot, so make sure you clear every single trash pull after vexallus to give yourself breathing room and allow the use of fear.

Delrissa - She's not nearly as difficult as I was expecting, but you do need to follow some sort of strat. What I did was send in shadowfiend so everything started attacking it, and then put all 3 dots on delrissa, mind blast, then silence her and mindflay her down before the silence wore off. At this point the shadowfiend would die, so then you have to take out the dangerous mobs - the rogue, shirtless blood elf guy, and naga warrior are all about equal on priority, just dot them up and nuke them and run away kiting if necessary, don't forget about psychic horror and fear (though fear seems to break almost instantly on them most of the time). The casters are almost completely unthreatening, but it's still a good idea to stay away from them in case they get lucky with a fear or poly. I actually think she's easier than the trash.

Kael - This guy is a joke, definitely the easiest of the four, and certainly easier than most of the trash. Just nuke him. You'll probably resist most of his fireballs, but VE should be enough to keep you at full health through the ones that get through. I had one phoenix spawn, just put a couple dots on it and run away from it while continuing to nuke kael. The egg that spawns when it dies only has like 12k hp so just nuke that fast and go back to him. When you're in the air just keep dotting him up and moving away from the orbs. He dies fast.

Overall, just make sure you don't underestimate the damage of the trash mobs in this place. They can and will kill you if you try to blindly aoe the place as a shadowpriest. I don't know what gear level is required to do this comfortably, I would recommend at least 4 piece tier 10 shadow gear, but it might be possible to do it with much lower gear.

This fight it pretty easy to solo with current gear.
I'm unholy DK with about ~5800GS.
I was doing it first as blood tank but eventually I started switching to dps on some fights until I figured out that I can solo whole place in dps gear.

I found out that hardest parts were trash in front of Vexallus and Delrissa with adds.
Delrissa can be tricky if u get stunned then feared (that's almost 99% wipe - happened to me twice)
That's why I always equip Medallion of the Horde now.

On Vexallus I take first two orbs, ignore rest.
I use Army of the Dead on Vexallus and on Kael'thas Sunstrider.

Rest of instance is just plain nuking.
Abilities like Anti-Magic Shell and Icebound Fortitude will be your best friend throughout the whole instance.

Takes me 15min, more-less to finish whole instance.
As tank I needed like 30min.
Sitting @ 37 kills atm, still waiting for birdie to drop.
GL to anyone farming this mount and remember, DON'T GIVE UP!
It will drop eventually.

BTW when a gnome is on this it makes it much bigger than the normal Blood Elf mounts.

Today i finally got this birdy! 9th sunstrider kill. Had no problems soloing this heroic instance as a ilvl251-277 prot paladin.
Just noticed today that enough DPS should break the pyroblast-shield on the last boss, kinda annoying since i've been casting bubble to avoid the pyroblast, but oh well. :)

Alright, I'm VERY happy, yesterday the phoenix dropped while I soloed 5 runs, and the 5th run it dropped. And next day, I woke up and then bought lots of scrolls / potions to solo HC (I'm retri), didn't need any and after I killed Kael, I was like "WTF?" the mount dropped. So in 2 days I got both. So happy <3

this is soloable as a shadowpriest, the hardest part is the trash before kael'thas. You need to pay attention at vexallus to prevent you from being overrun by energy. You can use a pve spec with pve gear, and ve should be enough to keep you up. Basically, use fears on trash once you kited them back far enough. Remember you can kite selin bits by jumping down the ldge and running up when he channels.

I got it in 8 runs btw. Together with my baron mount in 5 runs, i'd say i'm quite lucky with these things

I usually solo this in prot, for the added health and all that. 5500 GS, 40k health unbuffed.

Use the standard SoL/SoW swaps, SS, DP, corroded skeleton key trink as my means of staying up. Strategies used are already stated here by other prot pallies. Id recommend opening with Avenger's Shield on the blood knights when you pull. A second or two stunned means a lot. Focus on them.

As for Kael'thas... Make sure to burn the phoenix down, and kill the egg fast. interrupt the fire blast, use your seal swapping, and other "you can't kill me" spells I listed above. When you go to phase 2, it gets interesting, stay clear of the AOE orbs as much as possible, use SS and DP a lot. Eventually you will whittle him down to where you can use HoW (avengers shield is good to use at range, even if it doesn't silence) Try to use Divine Shield/LoH towards the end if you can help it. Ardent Defender may have procced by now as well. dps as much as you can inbetween evading the orbs. It can be done, just have to be on top of your spells/evading.

Finally dropped for me on my 41st run. I brought a warrior friend with me for the added dps (he already got his chicken before I did) Try not to get too frustrated with this fight, all I can say. Good luck, and enjoy your white chicken, and achieve Feat of Strength for sure :D

This place is not too bad as a BM hunter. I buff up using drums and scrolls of Fort.

Just got this mount today after about 60 or so runs. I now have everything from here :)

Just keep trying, it has a decent droprate as far as mounts go.

Got one for my main back in april about her 2nd time in just got it on my druid on tuse after 45 runs :)

:D Also just got it on my DK on the 5th >.> only after 14 runs, but really w/ a 3-4 % drop rate if you dont get it after running it on heroic 2 week strait ya prob have some bad RNG going for ya.

This instance is unbelievably easy to solo as a prot paladin. My paladin has nothing but badge gear, and is still wearing some blues.

The hardest part in the run is the mandatory trash pulls. the Warlocks hurt, so fire aura is always nice to have. Other than that, your block should mitigate almost all other damage. The mandatory pulls occur near gateways that are perfect for LoS if you need to move your adds out of the Magic-Dampening Field.

For bosses, I have never had trouble on any. Selin is a pushover, just hit him. On Vexallus, I tend to take every orb, as I can kill him fast enough to not have to worry. Delrissa works the same way as the trash pulls, if anything, easier, because you're probably taking less damage. Kael'Thas, use fire aura, obviously. I don't damage him fast enough to outdps his Pyroblast, so instead I just pop bubble the one time he does it; it WILL kill you.

Besides that, phoenixes die fast, Flamestrikes are avoidable, and Gravity Laspe is easy to manage. Never had any sort of difficulty that prevented me from continuing, this includes the stupid Ethereal mage blinking into two add packs during Delrissa.

Heroic MgT IS soloable by mages. I did it with arcane/frost specs. Since the mount only drops in heroic difficulty you don't have to worry about doing quick runs so you can do more (like Stratholme), I advise, however, to skip any trash you can so you can have a quicker grasp on the fights you have to learn how to deal with the bosses and some mandatory pulls.

You should be able to reach Selin's room without pulling any trash except the groups in his room which you will have to kill. Kill the groups in whichever spec you'd like, I killed the boss in arcane spec, however. Begin the fight by firing Arcane Barrage and Fire Blast, instant cast spells are very helpful here as you will have to kite the boss for a bit. It shouldn't be hard since you can Blink forward when he is getting too close, when you're on the upper platform you should jump down and go up the stairs opposite to the way he is coming after you, always casting your insta damage spells. The moment he stops to channel mana from a crystal, blow all your cooldowns and waste him. I had the commodity of T10 4 piece bonus which made this easier and I finsihed the fight with no need of further kiting after popping my cds. Note: Selin is a simple fight but it may take a few tries before you master how to react properly.

Vexallus done in frost spec. I suggest pulling the wyrms in the room group by group not to be overrun by damage and hamper your AoE damage. Put on Mage Armor to mitigate the arcane damage and Ice Barrier for survivability. You should focus on killing the sparks whenever you can to increase your dps greatly and end the fight quicklier, remember you can always Ice Block out of the debuff if you're taking too much damage, and Mirror Image and Water Elemental to serve as extra tanks. Vexallus shouldn't be hard at all.

This time you can skip all the trash to get to Delrissa. Now you may be thinking this is hard if not impossible for a mage, again I did it in frost spec. I managed to solo MgT on regular difficulty with much inferior gear to the one I had when I soloed heroic mode (5700ish) and that time this boss already had proven to be a real pain. However, being a mage has many advantages other then teleporting to main cities and having an infinite supply of food, being a mage means being able to take advantage of people's buffs. The first thing to do is to search for the trash groups in the room that have a magister among them. Sheep this ad and use your elemental's freeze to lock the other ads and then AoE them down, this should be pretty easy. If you accidentally kill the magister you can do this with other trash group or go invisible as long as one of the ads from the group is alive, the whole group will reset. When you manage to leave just the magister alive, let him spam Frostbolt on you, it shouldn't be a problem since you have two absorptions at your disposal. Every time he casts a spell he gains 1 stack of this wondrous buff which stacks up to 20 and IS spellstealable. After you steal 20 stacks of the buff, sheep the magister and get close to Delrissa and her ads, pop your elemental and your mirror images and freeze them in place. Spam Blizzard which should be doing ridiculous amounts of damage as you channel it very quickly and 3 or 4 casts should be enough to kill the whole group, including Delrissa - having this talent helps a lot -.

Moving on to Kael, here you can opt to kill the trash group entirely and waste the boss in arcane spec (should require reasonably high gear to outdps him before he casts Pyroblast, IF he actually casts it, Ice Block then waste him right after). Or you can do just like against Delrissa, as I recall there is always a magister in the group before Kael so this shouldn't be a problem, if there is none in yours try just wasting him in arcane spec, otherwise clear the trash and leave the magister alive to build up the haste buff and then spam Frostbolt on his face until he casts Gravity Lapse, this part should be no problem due to your Ice Barrier, if by any chance there are any phoenixes alive they shouldn't bother you because of mage ward, during the lapse you take 300 arcane damage per second and it can be greatly mitigated if you have Mage Armor on, sacrificing a little crit rating shouldn't be a problem in this fight, also be sure to avoid the orbs and remember to Slow Fall if you are too high when the spell is about to end. Boss killed, profit! Good luck on your mount, pet or orb!

Note: as of patch 4.0.1, with the huge changes on the talent trees, mages looking to solo this instance will find it a lot easier since the health on Mirror Image clones has been greatly increased and the dps output is much more versatile and powerful now.

took me a month of daily heroics, but finally it dropped, i watched the pet drop about 4 times in this span.
as a Surv hunter i successfuly managed to solo up to the 3 boss, but couldnt go farther.
luckily, my husband is a dk, so he came as my meat shield and ran everyday with me :D we both got the pet and i got my mount!

Im usually extremely unlucky and I think that getting this mount totally puched my luck. Wich means I wont get my Raven Lord.

Solo'd as a Demo Warlock in PvE get 5.9k GS. The hardest part is the trash, I'd suggest keeping a SS up just in case and a Invis potion for the pack before Delrissa.

Trash: You can skip a lot of it except I used the Invis potion in the outdoor area after Sellin. You can't drain life on the Robot's so let your dots tick whilst your pet eats into him. Also the trash before Kael gave me a bit of trouble, just make sure you're in the room when spamming SoC.

Sellin Fireheart: I found the best way was to just dot him up and let your Felguard tank him till about 40% using Drain Life and Health Funnel when needed. Then pop Meta and burn him down asap.

Vexallus: If your DPS is good enough you can burn him down before he can do any real damage. Pull with Felguard, pop meta and burn.

Delrissa: Generally easy so long as you don't get CC'd. Use Meta+Immolation and just seed spam.

Kael'thas Sunstrider: Real easy, just burn him before Pyro, I ignored the Pheonix just stay away from it.

Hope this helps, no mount for me yet but I did get the Orb.

The hardest part is the trash

This. a thousand times this.

I just started on monday (8-23-10) attempting to solo this on my warlock (Augos on Garrosh). I have gone in there a few times with a boomkin by my side while i went destro, and i used to take a lot of heals. I was hoping i'd be able to solo it cause my boomkin is on vacation this week.

The thing that ate me the fastest was trash. I tried to laugh it off, but i'm clearly too soft. Happily, i have a demon to do my bidding.

I was using a raid demo spec and my pve gear. I have nets with me, SoulStone, Healthstone(4k). FIshfeast, Sauteed Goby and Pet treats.. I don't know what my gear score is, but i don't think that's important. I think it's better if you just play smart. my first attempt i died. a lot. last night i managed to do the whole run without dying. i was pretty stoked. here's how it goes down:

When you enter, send FG in with anguish on ( i normally raid with this off, so make sure it's on). Take care of the two sentries and the pat. You can run through the center then, skipping the left and right side mobs until you get to the next 4-some. Send the pet in on the Blood Knight and give it a couple seconds to get threat. Then have it switch to the Mage Guard while you kill the Knight. It seems as tho they both have a bleed effect, and together they eat the pet if you leave them last. Keep your max range and knock them out one at a time. Get rid of the Physician, and finish up with the other casters (Magister's or Warlocks).

At this point i switch up to the VW. The room Selin is in i deal with in 3 pulls. left, right and center. For the left and right side, with pet on passive, i throw a CoW on one of the Wreched ( i want something that'll pull, but not skyrocket me in threat). While they are coming at me, i Sacrifice for the VW shield and have him pop Suffering. As the melee mobs go wild on the helpless VW, i pepper them with a few Seeds and pop them with my Shadowflame. SB and/or Decimation procs to finish off the casters still left behind. Rinse and repeat for the other side and you can just nuke the center two (i usually have Decimation still up so they go down rather effortlessly).

Selin: I like this fight. When i have my Boomkin with me, we usually just have me pull the boss with DoTs and then teleport out of the room back to the courtyard where that 4-some is. The thought being we'll let dots tick and we'll take less damage overall. I pop Meta and become the De facto tank. Soloing, however, I didn't think this was going to work, and instead opted to let the VW do the work for me. I send him up and let him get comfy. Throwing CoA/Corr/Immo and then Health Funnel as needed. He'll go for a crystal. Hopefully you have a Molten Core proc, and you can quick cast an Incinerate. Otherwise, SB it down and reapply DoTs. More Health Funnel. At this time your VW may be out of LoS. You can hit the passive button to recall him. as he gets to the base of the stairs, have him re attack. This both keeps him in LoS and will cause Selin to go to the nearest crystal which is right there for you to nuke. After this second crystal is destroyed, the VW has enough threat for you to go all out. Get max range, pop Sacrifice for saftey, Meta and them burn down the boss. Should be fairly painless.

On to the Wyrms. Summon the FG back again. Anguish on. a corruption for each of the ones in the hallway. Shadowflame to finish. In the main room, i suggest trying to just pull the 4 separate pack in 4 separate pulls. The more that there are, the less effective each explosion from SoC is. And, even tho they only melee for about 200-300, when you have 40 of them, it hurts. 3-4 Seeds per pack will do nicely. If you're fast enough you get to skip the pat. If so send the pet in as soon as you can to take advantage of the stacking buff (+25% damage).

Vexallus: I'll again DoT up the boss, and Health Funnel my FG until the sparks appear. Then i pop Meta, nuke at least one spark, and finish the boss. Although i may be at max range, i would suggest using Immolation Aura in case RNG deprives you of necessary crits to put the final hurt on the boss.

The robots get tanked by a FG. The mobs in the courtyard ( only the left side in the first mini-courtyard, and only the front half in the boss courtyard.....tho, these can be skipped, i prefer to kill them incase i have to Death Coil)get tanked with the VW. Pop Sacrifice to protect yourself. Banish the Sister's of Torment, and send the VW to the Ethereum Smuggler (if there is one). That's the priority kill (for me), followed by the Witch and then just like in the first pulls, go down the list. Knight, Mage, Magister, Warlock.

Priestess Delrissa: This is a nuke fest. If you have something you can banish, do it. I prefer to banish Zelfan over Garaxxas if i get them both. If you get Brightblaze/Nightstrike, send the pet (FG)to tank them. Kill Delrissa first. Then the melee targets. Shadow Ward will help out if you pull Duskhallow, but she misses most of the time. Meta and Immolation Aura help with everything that's not actively trying to eat your pet.

One last switch to the VW, one last pull. Send him in and seed everything. if there's a Sister, Banish her. Finish off with Shadowflame.

Kael'thas Sunstrider: Send pet in. DoT Kael up, Health Funnel. Kill phoenix. Kill egg. Pop Meta and finish him off. If you manage to get tossed in the air, just throw a SB when you can, or a Soulfire when you can. The pet will survive this section so just keep yourself away from the orbs.

I got this mount yesterday September 1st after just 11 heroic kills. I went today because im still farming for the orb and what do you know the mount drops again. That's 2 mounts in 2 days. I got the pet on the second kill, hopefully the orb drops soon. I'm gonna bring someone with me from now on just in case the mount drops. I already got one in my bag rotting don't want another to go to waste. I solo this on my 5800gs MM hunter. Heroic Magister's Terrace can be solo as mage too at level 80.Just kill Selin Fireheart,Vexallus and Priestess Delrissa with frost spec and easist one Kael'thas Sunstrider as fire or arcane raid spec.Vexallus and Priestess Delrissa can be hard.

For Vexallus blow cooldowns dont forget to kill mini adds maybe can solo as fire or arcane.

For Priestess Delrissa blow cooldowns kill annoying shaman and next just kill who annoys you much.I prefer warrior.Generally when i kill adds before Priestess Delrissa;polymorph mage kill other adds.Let mage cast on you till his haste buff stack %80 (or more) and spell steal.Then start Priestess Delrissa fight.

Just i said before Kael'thas Sunstrider is very easy nuke and down .Probably you wont get 2-3k damage.

Luckly Swift White Hawkstrider dropted for me at second Heroic try.I was farming for Orb of the Sin'dorei and will farm till drops.

I'm farming this on my 80 warrior, with a hybrid spec, prot / fury, for the healing from Bloodthirst. Easily done, with my 4900GS. This is how I do it:

Currently I'm farming alot of old instances, like MC, ZG, Strat, for mounts, achievements etc. To be at my best all the way I always bring Fortitude Runcescrolls, drums for kings and wild + potions and elixirs. I also have a few fire resistance pieces. On top of that I use glyphs for increased healing in my bloodthirst and regeneration ability.

Now MGT HC:

Before the first boss, be sure to leave at least one of the battle mages (those buggers with a shield, who creates magical shields.) Do a shadowmeld if you're a nelf, or run out of the instance to reset it. Then take down the first boss, he's easy, then continue to second boss. Now, after clearing the way to the boss, go back for the mob you left behind, and tag him. Let him follow you to the boss and start the encounter. His shield will greatly increase your survivalbility. Remember to kill the orbs the boss summons, for the dmg buff.

You can skip most trash in MGT, if you want. I skip the large open area before the third boss, by using a invisibility potion, just to be sure. Saves you some time.

Third boss can be tough, or it can be easy. Go for the priestess first, or shaman if he's among the group. Bash those two down, then go for whoever you like. I prefer taking down the warrior, since he does mortal strike, which ain't good for our bloodthirst healing. Remember, even though things seems to go like a breeze, don't save your CDs. Suddenly your health might be down, without you even noticing.

Last boss... Easy.
Phase 1:
For this fight, I make sure I have around 170-200 fire resistance at a minimum since most of the dmg done at you in this fight is fire. His fireballs shouldn't hit you as a warrior, but if they do, they can take down around 5k hp. Fireballs should mainly be reflected back at him, for that extra dmg, but you can also interrupt them, when your reflect is on CD.
After a while he summons his phoenix. Ignore it, but as soon as it dies by itself and turns into an egg, kill the egg. This is very important if you're close to phase 2.
He will also casts flamestrikes. Silence him to make him come with you, and dodge this attack.
After a while he will try to pyroblast you. Pop Shield Wall and last stand, and use your regeneration after the Pyro hits you. This is the only part of the fight that is really scary, as the Pyroblast will instantly kill you if you're not doing what you need to do.

Phase 2:
He throws you airborne. It's now crucial that the bird/egg is dead by this point. Rest of the fight is cake, as long as you avoid the purple balls. If you get caught into one, you'll loose health quickly. Throw / shoot at him, hit him whenever you can, and go hammertime as soon has he turns 20%.

This has never happened to me EVER; But I got it my first try! I was tempted to go out and buy a lottery ticket. Well, first time finishing H MgT anyways.. I died twice. Once on the trash in the room before the third boss'. Used pestilence a little too close and pulled the middle group. I was not prepared for it and it hurt. A lot. Second time I died on Kael'thas himself. I had switched from my Tank spec to DPS spec but didn't change my gear.. He got off a phoenix and I died. Second time around I put my DPS gear on and killed him before he knew what hit him. It really helps to put on arcane protection gear for the second boss. Thanks to whoever said that.

After getting disappointed by seeing Al'ar drop and losing the roll, I thought i'd try my luck here, Did so and the mount dropped, Got it aswell ;D (Saw Al'ar and Hawkstrider during the same day), Kael seemed to be full of loot :P.

Today i saw the Tabard of the Shattered Sun and decided i wanted it, so i began with my first time ever doing the dailies. after the dailies i did regular Magisters Terrace to unlock heroic, went into heroic, killed all the bosses and to my suprise, Kael'thas dropped the mount! All i could do was laugh when this happened because i was on here earlier today and reading how long it took everyone to get it.

Hey,

I thought that it would be kind to share my experience from MgT HC 4.0.1 soloing with fury warrior, as there isn't many posts about it here. Trash is pretty much easy in whole instance, atleast if you are careful with pulls. Im not saying it is faceroll or anything, but it is not very hard either. I'll put up little roundabout from one single run in here.

If someone is interested, here is my armory. I am using the normal fury DPS spec for soloing.

Trash before first boss is just joke. They don't hit anything on plate. Nothing special either. Just cleave/whirlwind your way to the glory ;)

Selin Fireheart
First boss Selin is pretty much straight forward nuke. The tactic i used was just to pop CDs at start and nuke his face off. That works like a charm, atleast for me. I don't suggest you to try kill the crystals, at this encounter. It really isn't needed. with my ICC10 gear I pretty much got him down while he was casting the siphon or right after it. So basically just nuke his ass off :P

Trash between Selin and Vexallus is the trickiest thing in this instance. This is the only place I've wiped here. If you are rolling with similar or better gear than me I suggest you to pull with ranged and wait for the pack to come after you. If you accidentally pull 2 wyrm packs at the same time it is highly advisable to watch for your health and pop Enraged Regeneration if needed.

Vexallus
This is also pretty simple fight. Just needs good DPS to burst him down at the right time. I recommend that you DON'T use CDs like Death Wish or Recklessness here. As they increases your damage taken. You can use them, but they are not needed. As of the fight Vexallus will summon two Pure Energy to the fight. The idea here is that you cleave the first two to get 2 stacks of Energy feedback, after that is done you should be able to just nuke him down, as they increase your damage done by total of 100%. That is all about this boss. Pretty simple fight after all.

Nothing special on trash between Vexallus and Priestess Delrissa. Just cleave through everything! And be careful with patrols and try avoid chain pulling multiple packs. It's not instantly wipe if you pull two packs, but it makes things very hard.

Priestess Delrissa
This fight is pretty simple, but can also be very very hard. Depends what opponents you have in this encounter. I suggest to pull Death Wish and Recklessness right at the pull and use Cleave > Whirlwind > Cleave to make heavy damage to many of them, after that it's pretty much single target nuking. Depending on the setup you get here you should first target Kagani Nightstrike(Rogue) or Apoko(Shaman). Rogue does nasty stun so he should be your primary target and then shaman because of his heal. Other guys are weak compared to these. Pretty easy encounter all in all.

There is only one pack of trash between Kael and Priestess. Nothing special.

Kael'thas Sunstrider
Kael is pretty fast fight, if it isn't you are not going to make it. Good point here is that you should wait CDs that you popped at Priestess to come off before engaging Kael'thas to fight. As you need to burst him down as fast as possible. As fury you should not get caught by Pyroblast. He shoul not even get to cast it anyways so no worries about that. The more important thing in this fight is Phoenix if you are not fast enough to pull him to Gravity Lapse, as he won't call Phoenix anymore at that point.

Phoenix
Handling Phoenix is pretty simple. If Kael'thas yells: "Vengeance burns!", you should start looking for Phoenix and kill it immediately. And when the Phoenix dies it will leave egg to floor. Kill that too. If you have good gear this shouldn't even happen.

Gravity Lapse
Kael'thas will pull you to his location and you start floating around. The best way to handle this encounter is to "kite" the bubbles away from Kael'thas and then go around them and nuke Kael. You only need to pull bubbles away once since Kael should be pretty low at this point. And as side note: you can't nuke through these bubbles because they do massive amount damage and atleast my gear isn't enough to sit it out and nuke Kael'thas while ignoring the bubbles.

That is pretty much it. I might have forgot/left out some points about the instance/bosses, but those are pretty much the things that I have to put attention while doing MgT HC! I wish all of you good luck with mounts! Still waiting my own to drop :P

As a Shadow Priest in a combination of ilvl 264/251 gear I can run through Heroic MgT pretty quickly and skip most of the trash:

When you first enter use Mind Sooth on the 2 guards by the front door and all 4 mobs at the back which lets you run through the middle of them without getting aggro
For the packs of adds before Selin Fireheart I find it's quickest to SW:P them all and then run back and forth spamming Holy Nova so that Shadowy Apparitions proc fairly often
Wyrms before Vexallus just SW:P one of them and then run away whilst spamming Holy Nova or they could overwhelm you
For Vexallus I normally just keep dots up and Devouring Plague any Pure Energy once they start to spawn which 1 shots them and means you don't take any extra damage
All trash can just be avoided until Priestess Delrissa, just either hug the walls or run through the fairly big gaps between each pack
Priestess Delrissa can be annoying if you don't control the fight well enough

If either Eramas Brightblaze or Kagani Nightstrike are with her then take them out first as then can interrupt and stun
Cast Shadowfiend on your first target and then Fade immediately so you don't get any aggro from anyone
Silence Delrissa if you can so she can't heal
Nuke stunners first, then take her down, then deal with the rest
Her renew can be dispelled as well if you want to

Kael'thas Sunstrider is pretty easy, you'll probably spend longer listening to him talk than killing him

Very easy soloable to a frost mage, probably arcane too but frost gives you higher chances of surviving, not that I ever experienced any big health losses anyway...

Very easy to solo with arc mage. Blowing mirror image, arc power, and mana gem boost allows me to arc blast spam bosses down easily, even Kael before he grav lapses. Invisibility gets past the trickier parts and is a nice panic button when the Delrissa fight doesn't go as planned. Delrissa is likely the hardest fight in the instance for us, since none of the NPC's have aggro tables and several have stuns that come with them. Also note that the phoenix hatchling drops on heroic difficulty too, so no need to farm reg solely for it.

Hunter: really easy now as of 4.0.3a all you need is a Tenacity pet, (I use my warp stalker, Waffles) and Glyph of Misdirection, and maybe a macro that puts MD on your pet automatically.

First boss, clear trash, MD boss to pet, pop Bestial Wrath if you feel so inclined.

Second Boss, MD all the wyrms to your pet, Multi-shot them for a +25% damage buff, Nuke the boss after MD'ing him to your pet.

Third boss, MD and then multi-shot all the mobs to your pet, take out healers first, casters second, anyone that annoys you the most third (maybe the rogue?)

Last boss, Easy sauce. MD boss to pet, Pop cooldowns, you'll never see phoenix, or have to worry about it, move around when in the air, staying away from the bubbles, and your golden, Happy farming!

As a Worgen sitting on the mount, when your character does the howling animation, he'll howl like a chicken. Definitely makes the mount a keeper in my book.

Before reading the recent posts in here about the drop rate, I was just telling my wife that they must have bumped the % up a ton. Not so sure now. Maybe I'm just getting lucky? I have done only 2 heroic Magister's Terrace runs on my main, and both times I've had this awesome looking mount drop. Also, the 2nd run (of which I just got done with) Orb of the Sin'dorei dropped as well. Awesome little 'trinket' to get.

Too bad about the second Swift White Hawkstrider drop, though.. Waste of a drop.. =( I've been farming for Reins of the Raven Lord for the past few months with no luck and get two hawkstriders in two runs.. lol

If you're thinking of going for 'Mountain o' Mounts' then this mount makes a very nice addition. Due to its' 'high' drop % in comparison to other boss mounts, it's not difficult to get it (although RNG may take it's toll on you).

At level 85, any player should have no problems avoiding most of the trash. I find it a lot of fun to get the 25% damage buff, then hit the energy sparks on the 2nd boss and crit with Lava Lash for 149k.

Don't miss out on this mount, it's one of the nicest looking mounts in the game in my opinion, and it suits every race that uses it :).

12/29/10(Today) It can only rotten corpses.(You can't carry any more of those items.)

A nice note to remember that will shave a few seconds off your run is:

In the hallway leading to Vexallus if you run all the way to the wall behind him (the one blocked by the yellow force field) before you attack him you will not aggro all the wyrms in the hallway. That leaves the mobs before Selin Fireheart as the only trash you must kill in the entire instance.

Yet I decided to give it a try and when I killed the last boss for the first time ever, the mount dropped!

Got it yesterday on the first run while I was getting the guild achievement and helping lvl 70 guildies...

This mount will be an easy catch now with cata, because almost all classes can solo the instance with pratically no problem.
As a lvl 83 arms warrior I wasted some cooldowns (like Enraged Regeneration, because Victory Rush DOES NOT work on the mobs inside this instance), but other than that it was pretty easy...

after 48 runs. 6 orb of sin'dorei and 4 phoenix Hatchlings.. No mount. Rivendare took 120 runs (before cata). only mount that took under 20 times was raven lord (also before cata). remember its just luck . you get the mount or not..

if you wear plate the place is a joke...farm it. easy money. Take you 20 mins or less if you decide to nuke everything. since you do it only once a day.

After hitting 5k achievement points and getting about 76 pets, I finally decided to start my mount collection. I bought all the wolves, windriders from Dalaran.

Last night I unlocked heroic Magister's Terrace and ran that, didnt get anything but a ton of Shattered Sun Offensive reputation. I also ran Sethekk Halls on heroic and didn't get anything there either. I also got a group together and downed Kael'thas (trying to get the Ashes of Al'ar mount).

I've been farming for the mount for about two months. Lvl 85 boomkin. I can walk past most mobs, easy to stealth past the others. Clear each boss, all in all it takes about 8 minutes. 35 kills so far, no mount.

As far as I know, this mount can be earned in as little as 16 runs. Sounds like a lot, but it's easy when compared to other mounts (such as the blue proto-drake). You must be on heroic mode, and the dungeon is built to make you fight all bosses. For quick runs, a lot of the mobs can be skipped, I have skipped entire rooms. This is very easy for any 85 player to solo, and a cool mount to have if your alliance.

People on this page have been saying that when you pull Kael, the adds before him pull too. On my 85 orc warrior, the adds don't pull. Idk if it may be something involving warrior charge, but the adds do not pull AT ALL during the whole fight.

The droprate has most definitely been upped since the hotfix in 4.1.

I presume when Blizzard said that the chance of getting a mount from the Call To Arms satchel had increased, what they infact did was just increase the drop rate chance from the associated bosses. The satchel is just oddly attached to this.

I presume all the other satchel mounts will have the same story (ie the Raven Lord).

Of course we all know random is random, however personally getting the mount twice in one day seems a bit much from a 1% drop rate.

I have heard similar stories from other people that confirm this. The only thing we don't know is the exact drop rate, although I imagine it must be subtationally higher than the old 1% (as to entice lower LFD queues).

I have the worst of luck generally. Been farming raven lord for a year or so. Farmed green proto, took me 2 years (but i did get it). You know me, stuff never happens.

So i did my usual raven lord run, and i think "Hey, maybe i can get the Swift Hawkstrider too." Might as well do it, its quick, and might as well while in outland...

So, i then learn that you need attunement. FINE, i might as well if ima gonna make this a regular thing.

Did all the attunement, and then step in for heroic just to see if im good.

And it dropped for me.

I was so amazed, because this never happens for me, that i think i passed out.
If i linked my achievements for heroic magister's terrace and Swift White Hawkstrider, they would match.

Farmers, i am sorry to bring this account to your attention, but keep going! YOU WILL GET IT TOO!

After about a month of running MGT on my 85 Paladin, he dropped a lot of Orbs over time before I finally got my Phoenix Hatchling and that was few days before he dropped Hawkstrider mount today. I'm very happy with this mount.

Heroic drops the mount only, but both regular and heroic do drop a pet.

Hate to be one of those d-bags but I got the mount on my 8th run. Just before you say, "I hate Hateful", let me say I've been running Strath 15 times a day and no deathcharger! This is my fav land mount by far. Got the Golden King mount just the other day after reaching exalted with my guild and still prefer the white hawkstrider. He may not actually move faster but he sure does LOOK like he's movin' quick! : ) Good luck to all.

Today, I got this awesome mount. Thinking that I'm not lucky enough to get this to drop, nevertheless on my third run, I went into the dungeon anyways. I slaughtered all the bosses, and when it came down to Kael. Heart pumping, I shot at him. After a few shots he fell. I looked at the loot, and pressed the down arrow, and there it was. I was shocked! Happy hunting! :D

I just got the raven lord yesterday on my 5th or 6th run so i thought about what to go for now. Decided on the white hawkstrider ran in there this morning killed him..... nothing. i wasnt surprised about that but later in the afternoon look at my resets and much to my surprise Magisters terrance was unlock again so i flew back out there. Got to Keal didnt expect anything killed him and noticed a arrow for the second page of loot, i thought no way in hell that thing drop..... and damn if it did. XD Dropped on my second run on first day of farming all i can say is don't give up i swear the drop rate for these mounts had to be increased. Well now im going for the mount from Karazhan heres hoping that wont fight me but i got a bad feeling about that one.....

Has the percentage really increased? I just completed my 44th solo today, and am beginning to get discouraged. I've gotten three Orb of the Sin'dorei's, and over ten of the phoenix companions. This is my favorite land mount, so I won't give up... but man, it's tempting sometimes.

I am curious as well if the drop rate has decreased. I just ran my 80th Magister's Terrace and I feel like I am going to go insane. Stings a little when folks state they got in on their 1st-10th runs... hehe. I have seen the Orb of the Sin'dorei's drop at least 15 times and the pet at least 5 times. What gives?

Not sure about the drop rate but i ran Magister's Terrance three times. The first two run's the Hatchling dropped both times, on the third run the mount dropped. I haven't seen the Orb of Sin'dorei yet, thanks for all the info you guys put up !

Not dropped yet, but had the 20slot bag from trash twice, the flame pet, a few recipes and patterns, and 2 orb of the sindorie,
so its really a matter of luck what you get.

Just keep in mind that every time you run this instance you have a 4% chance of getting it to drop. That means every single time you run this instance you have a 96% chance of not getting the mount.

Even if you run it 100 times. Even the 100th run has a 96% chance of not dropping the mount.

I never thought I was very lucky with rare mounts that drop, but I got super lucky with this one, just on the wrong player, I've been grinding out for about two weeks on my main, druid night elf, and I decided today, what the heck, I'll run my shaman thru and get some goodies, well, first time ever on shaman running it and it dropped, I couldn't believe it, I felt a bit of hope restored and felt that I can get lucky, just wish it was my druid that got lucky :P It really is random though, so for those of you running this place everyday, just keep running, it will drop eventually.

After running Magister's Terrace almost every day for several months, I finally got the Swift White Hawkstrider tonight. The instance is very easily soloable by a level 85 anything, but is definitely more fun if you have a friend with you.

Ouch, you were exceptionally unlucky. I ran it for about a week and I saw the mount drop about three times... then again... my mage has seen the Brewfest Kodo drop 4 times... so maybe I'm just exceptionally lucky :-\',date:

This mount is obviously linked to the achievement Swift White Hawkstrider(feat of strength) for the mount. Now, this mount is a rare drop and will only drop on heroic magisters terrace. This dungeon can be solo'd easily, by an 85 at least, so happy farming. Personally, I got this mount in 2 weeks of daily running of the dungeon. The most difficult part is the boss fight, where you can be lifted into the air, making it a bit hard to attack the boss. Good luck to all.

It is possible to see Reins of the Raven Lord and Swift White Hawkstrider drop on the same day. It happened to my druid Scythebitten on Sargeras. Extremely rare but possible.

Unlike most other mounts, you do NOT get the reins but the actual mount instead so the Satchel of Exotic Mysteries must be quite large.

I have been running Heroic Magister's Terrace nearly every single day since the second half of my junior year in high school, and I'm a junior in college now, so... four years, ish? And I just barely got this mount the day before yesterday.

Keep in mind...

As many people have said, a 4% drop rate means that this mount has a 96% chance of NOT dropping any single time you run it. It doesn't mean, "Oh, I'll get it in 25 days, because 25x4 is 100!" I'm living proof of this. Four years, Kael'thas. FOUR YEARS.

I soloed this as a Shadow Priest. If you're curious, basically just Mind Sear the crap out of everything, and burn the bosses down. These days there is no need to kill Vexallus's energy adds or anything like that. You should still probably kill Kael'Thas's phoenix if it shows up, though.

If you want the mount, run this alone if at all possible. If you're running it with someone else who also wants the mount, keep in mind that your chances of seeing it drop twice are pretttttttyyy low.

There is absolutely no need to kill all of the mobs. HOWEVER, if you need rep with some factions, throw on a tabard and full clear. It nets some pretty decent rep. Not all tabards will work, but things like Ironforge, Gilneas, etc work, and probably a few others as well. You'll also eventually end up getting the Shattered Sun Offensive achievement without having to do any of their quests or anything. Pretty bamf.

I can confirm that still drops within 4.3.2 but keep in mind about past comments that if you run it 25 times its not guarenteed that youll get it. The percents DO NOT stack up with eachother to eventually get a 100% chance of getting it. some people are lucky and some arent like on my main i only took 1 run to get it but on my mage it took 19 for me to get it so its just like a random gear drop from a raid. Eventually you WILL get it like the sea turtle or experiment 12-B

Must do it on heroic (unlock that by running it on normal with a quest i believe), and you can basically run through most of it without touching most trash.
Careful on first boss though! Pulls whole room, and can be deadly if caught off guard!

So I finally got this on my 11th run. I got the pet on my first, so im glad to be done with this place. Also I got the Shattered Sun title after clearing the place all those times, and doing the dailies everytime I was there. I think I got it somewhere around the 7-8th day, so you can get that outta the way as well if youre an achieve hunter or you want a cool title.

Just an FYI though, when you get to Kael, skip the group in front of him, or you will have to listen to his minute long speech. And it must be done on heroic mode for the mount to drop, but the whole place is easy to clear as an 85.

Ok so I've run this about 7 or 8 times so far and still no luck, however the pet has dropped 3 times already. Seems to be the opposite for everybody else who are getting the mount and no pet....ah well, I'll just keep trying. Just shows you that it's completely random and a matter of luck!

I soloed this instance as lvl85 Ele Shammy. Farmed it for 56 days and I got this awesome mount.
Worth farming. I got this from the last Boss Kael'thas Sunstrider of Magisters' Terrace and it also got a chance to drop Orb of the Sin'dorei.

For anyone wondering this will be hard to solo at level 80 (2 man will work). I'd suggest that you level up to about 82 and collect some Cata gear until you go for the mount. I was able to solo it at level 82 with a druid (it was scrolled so i suck as druid).

I hope that all you guys get your lovely hawkstrider and that you won't give up, all the hard work is worth it! <3

I've been running Magister's Terrace (solo w/ lvl 85 hunter) for what seems like forever, but finally on my 47th try that elusive mount finally dropped. Don't give up people, it will happen... Good Luck!

I'll back pretty much everything everyone has said here. Magister's Terrace is incredibly easy to solo at 85, especially as a Rogue; stealthing past most of the trash in the instance is like salt in the wound, bringing the time taken to run this down to around 5-8 minutes, tops.

That said, don't underestimate how long it may take you to get this mount if you're going for it. Mine finally dropped this morning, after the 71st consecutive daily Kael'thas Sunstrider kill. In the time it took for the mount to drop, he'd dropped at least 6 or 7 of the Phoenix Hatchling and Orb of the Sin'dorei each, the latter of which is largely worthless to me since my main is already a Blood Elf. Good for gender swapping, I guess?

In any case, it was a highly rewarding experience to finally see the chocobo drop after over two months of daily farming, and I know that others have spent even longer in the pursuit. Best of luck to anybody going for it; while it's true that you only have a maximum of a 4% chance to get it on any given run, statistical law holds that the longer you're at it, the lower the chance for it to not eventually drop. While I only had a 4% chance of getting it specifically on the 71st run, I had a 5-6% chance of it not dropping by the 71st run. If you really want the mount, dedication and patience is key. Unless you're sufficiently lucky, of course :-)

You also have a chance of receiving this item in a Satchel of Exotic Mysteries. You can get the Satchel by que'ing for a Cata Heroic Dungeon by yourself only when the Dungeon Finder shows that you can get the Satchel.

SWIFT WHITE HAWKSTRIDER GUIDE:

First of all, this mount is a white model of the Blood Elf Hawkstrider mount's, with a unique armor on it. To get this mount, you must do Heroic Magister's Terrace. To get here you must first go the Shattrath, take the portal in the central part of Shattrath to Isle of Quel'Danis. Once here travel up to Magister's Terrace and enter on Heroic.

Quick Note:
- This mount is obtainable through the Call to Arms dungeon Satchels
- The Pheonix Hatchling pet drops off the same boss
- From Grinding this dungeon, and clearing it fully, you gain reputation with the Shattered Sun Offence, Gain exalted with this faction and you can buy the title " .... of the Shattered Sun" for 1000g

Now back to the farm,

- Firstly, make sure its on Heroic. (Surprising how many times me or friends have done it on Normal)

- Secondly run through, clearing as much or as little as you want. You can run right up the the first boss without clearing any trash.

- The first boss is really easy, just dps him down, although he aggro's the whole room once you engage, it's no real trouble for any 85.

- Once the first boss is down, proceed through the hallway to the next boss, In this room there are groups of Mana Wyrm's, these are easy to kill and once killed do a stacking buff inc damage done. Easily soloable all at once or group by group (I have known people to pull them all and die, so be careful) Then kill the second boss, the giant arcane elemental.

- Next run though past the second boss, and around to the right, YOU CAN SKIP ALL THIS TRASH, if you hug the walls of the hallway (Past the big green/black pats) and follow the path (Outside around the fountain/monument)you will reach the third boss (Watch out for the singular blood elf that walks the path).

- The third boss is a group of elite's you have the main boss in the middle, and 4 add's (2 either side) that are random, Easy to kill, as a warrior charge + bladestorm usually sorts them all out.

- Final step run through kill the adds in front of the Final boss, then put up with his annoying speech and your ready to go, after a little while or when he is low enough, he will levitate you and/or your party, you can take fall damage and control your character mid air, i have killed him before this phase but just FYI.

Finally loot away and hope for your mount. This dungeon is very easy to solo at 85, and should cause no trouble. The added mount, pet and title bonus is also very cool!

The mount % drop is around 3-4%, not sure on the pet, although personally, i got 5 pets before the mount and got the mount on the run i hit exalted.

Moral of the story:
START GETTING MOUNTS YOU WANT PRIOR TO MoP ON ALL TOONS ABLE TO DO SO!

Got this mount on around my 10th run, also got the Phoenix Hatchling as well! Fast and smooth runs, no quest required to enter anymore. You can make a nice route with this one and Sethekk Halls to farm Swift white hawk strider and Raven lord! You can easily skip the most mobs, and big pulls shouldn't be any problem if you're at max level. Good luck farming!

Can someone confirm if it's been moved up to the new challenge dungeon mode?

I'm asking because I ran my 85 on heroic, same as before, but after killing him the phoenix hatchling dropped instead. And I'm like wtf, did I do it on normal by mistake? Nope, when I checked it was still on heroic.

Sadly it seems the heroic and challenge mode are connected so it won't let me reset until tomorrow when heroic normally reset itself.

Keep farming with all of your toons! It is account wide so use all your max level toons to quickly clear this heroic. I had 81 kills across 3 characters before I finally found it.

Amazing discovery. You can have the mount drop while you have it already, I got both on this toon. First was on my first run, this on my 50th. Yeah, incredibly lucky. I was going for the orb too :s I guess being lucky made the reason of 150+ runs for rivendare, and on 100+ for Raven so far

THE WAY TO SOLO KAEL'THAS

now, my mount dropped after some 200 odd clears inc all trash. if you kill alll the trash, then this is an easy way to get rep with the shattered sun offensive at little-no extra time when you are lv90

(this still drops as of patch 5.1.0)

1. - the fastest way (if this is still possible) is when on the balconn teh 1st part after you leave the antehcamber with the armoured dranei in at the start f the instance, jump off the circle area (which will skip 2 bosses) kill the demonsister and go straight to kael

2 - stealth past everyone, only killing bosses and hostile trash

3 - ZERG EVERYONE!

4 - what i was doing when i got it - have your gf/bf sitting next to you! i do KT - hawkstrider drops. i far wetlands - black whelpling drops. my gf was there - i suceeded :-)

finally, DON'T GIVE UP! you will suceed in the end, just don't give in :-)

You probably won't believe me but.. When I went here I went to check the drop rate % of this mount and was astonished..

I was farming MGT HC once a day for the reputation grind on my prot paladin. First run HC this one drops for me, and I thought "Wow I remember this mount used to be very rare back then" and was really happy that I had that kind of luck in the first run. The next day it drops AGAIN and I'm forced to destroy it because i'ts allready known to me, which lead me to think ofcourse that the drop rate must have been really hightened since TBC was active.

When I got here I read someone got it on his 100 run.. talk about RNG on me, I would give you the one that I had to destroy if I could, now I'm feeling lucky and stupid :)

Bit of a funny story:

I made my usual Magister's Terrace run tonight, and while I was burning down Priestess Delrissa, I killed one of her companions first, and she said "Well, aren't you lucky", or something similar. After killing her, I kind of wondered if that was a good sign, and I was finally going to get this mount.

Boom. Kael'thas dropped the Hawkstrider. Looks like the priestess was right. ^_^

the day i got it, it was about my 15th run and i was going crazy. the next day was running again for the pet and when i killed Kael'thas Sunstrider, the mount droped for me... for the second day in a row. so now my second is just sitting in my bank and i dont know what to do with it

I can confirm as of this very moment it dropped for me, along with an extra 20 slot bag from a mob earlier in the dungeon. I did notice Delrissa said "well aren't you lucky." this time around, and i didn't recall that line the past few times i ran this. Now this took my approximately 79 runs throughout my Warcraft career, But I hope it gives everyone the motivation to not give up since it definitely drops in 5.2

Just ran this dungeon for the second time ever (I'm totally a noob to WoW) with my level 90 priest, and it dropped! Was doing the dungeon just for fun and easy money, but I was very happy when I saw he dropped the bird and two pieces of epic gear (one that I can actually transmog).

Before doing the dungeon I had killed Galleon, Sha of Anger and Nalak with no drops, so I think I was needing this bit of luck.

After 116 runs and not even seeing the pet drop, I finally gave up.Fast forward 2 weeks my friend wanted me to run him through Heroic Magisters Terrace. I said ok and we had fun finally getting there. We got to Kael'Thas and I finished him very quickly. My friend said "Wait, I will loot it for you!" And there it was. Swift, White Hawkstrider. My friend (not knowing how long I had been farming this or how amazing it was for this to drop) just said " Pfft you can have it. Who would want a stupid bird anyway!" Hehe. Now my friend farms for this daily, and I ALWAYS say. "Who would want that stupid bird anyway?"

EDIT: My friend got this mount after 17 runs. I now envy him. And he has the pet -_-

I run this dungeon everyday for the pet and the Jaded Crystal Dagger for mog set. Kind of annoying as it took me quite a few runs to get it originally like most people, plus the dagger wont drop or the pet which apparently have a higher drop rate..meh

Drop rate sux I tried on my hunter in BC for a year to get the drop... after maybe 100 runs it dropped 2 times and I lost the rolls on it.. Monday 06/17/2013 I took my bear tank to the isle goofing around and I remembered Magister's Terrace was there so I did a solo run.. My guy is a 90 and IL 490.. I was on heroic I just ran around aggro'ed maybe 12 or 15 at a time killed them, repeat... all the way to the last boss. The Swift White Hawkstrider dropped for me. I also for the whole run got 2 epics a pet and about 200g for the junk I sold.

I went to MT to get this "Robes of Summer Flame" for a transmog piece I was interested in. I decided to do heroic, since you can sometimes get good stuff, and lo and behold, an epic mount. LOL

Feel free to downvote as you will, but I honestly feel insanely lucky for getting this on my first MGT run when directly farming it.

Also got the hatchling on my first normal run.

However, to compensate for my amazing luck with these two items, I had to spend two years farming Attunmen's steed. ;_;

I finally caved in and brought the mount off of the black market auction house for 31k. As of Mist of Pandaria, anyone can make 30,000g in two weeks while I've been farming this bird for 8 months on 4 different characters... 4% my behind.

Might be a mistake though, the netherweave and enchanting mats make this instance quite a lucrative one.

Does anyone know if you have to kill all the npc's in the dungeon for the mount to drop, or will it still drop if you avoid them and just kill the boss at the end?

The Swift White Hawkstrider, specialized racial mount of the Blood Elves, my favourite race, dropping from Kael'Thas Sunstrider, final boss of my favourite dungeon, Magisters' Terrace, (heroic). I had no clue about this mount when I queued for this dungeon on my first character, but when it dropped, and I didn't get it, I decided that I HAD to have it. So I asked a friend to run me through the dungeon and voila, it dropped. First time. <(^(oo)^)>

The fastest way to get to MT is to take a port to Shatt from Shrine + take the port in the middle of the city to the Shattered Sun Island

Unbelievable.
I'm running this on heroic mode to grind rep for gnomeregan to get the mounts, and when I hit exalted halfway through the instance, I decide to hearthstone back. Problem is, my hearthstone is on cooldown, so I decide "Meh, may as well finish the dungeon." I kill Kael'thas and boom. Swift White Hawkstrider. First try.

For the first time ever, I'm glad my hearthstone was on cooldown. Wow.

Looted this mount today.. I'm farming the Orb of Sindorei with my Warlock, and all the sudden this mount shows up in the loot, grab it and had an Achieve.. I was like O.O (I felt kinda bad That I didn't remember that this mount drop, it was a long time ago).
Still cool to have it as an Ally.

BTW it was on my 7th try give or take 2.
Not bad dropping rate. Still looking for the Orb though.

Returned to the game after a long hiatus. This never dropped when I was running the Terrace at level. Took me about 6 runs. I would have rather blown my luck on a rare flying drop, but I'll take it. Edit: LOL, I see the down voting trolls on their 200th run are out in force. 6 runs suckers!

Dont be i have 5 toons and have done Celestials every week on every char and ive only looted gold with a reroll of gold. I Would rather get prideful pieces than this mount but hey watevs

So after a couple of years hiatus I started playing wow again.
Have been running this one for a week now, and it dropped 3 times for me in that time.
Is the droprate really 4%?

Reins of the Raven Lord dropped for me last night after the same amount of runs, though - go figure.

I can confirm this mount still drops. I actually decided to run it for my first time a couple of days ago. I was super lucky, 1 run got me the mount. I want the pet he drops also. This is a fairly easy instance to clear for a Rogue with iLvl 489. You can pretty much pull entire rooms to the boss and LoS them. AoE them down and the whole run will take less than 10 minutes depending on your DPS. It is a pretty fun instance. I would recommend running it at least once.

So, I just ran this for the first time and it dropped.

I am posting this, because I have never, ever, EVER had that happen before. All my other mount farming has been 7 chars going weekly and not seeing any drops. Next up, fiery warhorse... oh wait, already did my 7 tries this week. Doh.

Well, I have played this game since vanilla, farmed 5 dragon whelping (they were the cool pet back then with 0.1% drop rate) and it took me at least a thousand kills to get one.

I even had someone drop a dragon whelping right in front of me, on the fifth I farmed, and even if I had always believed this would make me mad, it did not and I was even happy for the lucky looter.

RNG god usually do not favor me, but you might have seen it coming :

This mount did drop on my very first run of magister terrace.

It is finally my turn to write on wowhead those words, and it is as delightful as it is relieving.

So do not loose hope,fellow farmers, it will sometime happen to you !

It is easy to ignore most of the mobs in this dungeon, and is super easily soloable by a lvl 100 disc priest. If you want to skip the talking part at Kael'thas, ignore the group of mobs in his room and go attack him. That way he only has the talk when he dies, saves a little bit of time. Bird still drops.
