In this Pre-Raid Best-in-Slot Gear List for Fire Mage DPS in The Burning Crusade Classic, we will list the recommended gear for Fire Mage DPS to aim for when gearing up to raids in The Burning Crusade Classic, including gear sourced from Normal and Heroic Dungeons, professions, BoE World Drops, and reputations.

Best-In-Slot Gear for Fire Mage DPS in Pre-Raid
There are a ton of different ways to gear a Fire Mage, and they all depend on the gear you have available, as well as some personal preferences. Between all the different powerful rings, trinkets, necks, and even a few armor items here and there, you can make adjustments and still do some of the best damage possible.

Should Fire Mage DPS Choose Aldor or Scryer for BiS in TBC Classic Pre-Raid?
The Aldor vs Scryer choice for Mages is not super important. The key thing to keep in mind is the enchants,

. They are very, very similar, which overall makes the choice not super impactful—we're talking 0.x% in favor of Aldor.

Best-in-Slot Head Armor for Fire Mages in TBC Classic Pre-Raid
For Fire Mage, the
Mana-Etched Crown
is pre-raid best in slot assuming a full set scenario with the items listed at the top of each section. If you're not using - for example - the
Mana-Etched Spaulders
for the two set bonus with the headpiece, then it's likely something like the
Mana-Binders Cowl
perform better (assuming you're hit capped through other items).
The
Spellstrike Hood
is overestimated, given it doesn't have a meta gem socket (the legs of this set are still very good standalone). So I personally don't recommend it considering it performs lower in AoE as well as in single target dps (though by not as much) even in pre-raid gear.

Best-in-Slot Shoulder Armor for Fire Mages in TBC Classic Pre-Raid
Moving on to the shoulder slot, similarly to the headpiece: the
Mana-Etched Spaulders
performs the best here, but only within the context of having every item listed at the top of this guide - taking advantage of the two-piece set bonus of this item for extra hit.
Otherwise, I'd recommend either the
Mantle of Three Terrors
if you're in need of Hit; or the
Evoker's Silk Amice / High Warlord's Silk Amice
if you're already Hit capped. The latter two are the same stats, and it's a pvp set, but the reputation one is significantly easier to obtain.

is technically the best item you can get before entering the T4 raids - but since the dps difference is only about 5dps, I recommend going for something like

This is a very simple slot to get your best item on, given that the
General's Silk Cuffs
are both pre-raid and phase best in slot and easily obtainable on your own time. The
Bracers of Havok
perform similarly (margin of 2 dps) but might be expensive, depending on your budget they could be worthwhile to you if you value your time more than your gold.

, is your BiS for hands. These won't even be replaced by the first set of raids. The massive amount of Spell Power, combined with Crit and two sockets, just can't be beat anytime soon.

With the Neck slot, you have a few options. The
Brooch of Heightened Potential
is the most balanced option that also performs the best in a full set scenario. But if you happen to already be Hit capped, then
Torc of the Sethekk Prophet
is easier to obtain and performs the same.
Though, if you're aiming for raid performance instead of personal gain, the Jewelcrafting necks are the best necks you can use for the entirity of TBC (
Chain of the Twilight Owl
and
Eye of the Night
). These should ideally be used by the support classes in your group, but if you don't have them, it's best for you to use a charge of either of them.

For Trinkets the best option is situational:
Most of the time you should be using the combination of
Quagmirran's Eye
and
Icon of the Silver Crescent
.
In extremely short fights, you can use
Mind Quickening Gem
for small gain over either of the previous trinkets, but ideally you should swap it with
Quagmirran's Eye
.
Against Undead and Demons, the
Mark of the Champion
performs better as well, which you can swap for any of the previous Trinkets, but I'd recommend using it alongside
Quagmirran's Eye
.

Best-in-Slot Weapons for Fire Mages in TBC Classic Pre-Raid
One-handed weapons paired with a solid off-hand are the go-to choice most of the time for Mages. Simply put, they give more of the useful stats, like Spell Power and Crit, than staves. As such, you should be aiming to stick with a one-hand/off-hand combo as often as possible.
The best of these is a quite expensive Blacksmithing craft,
Eternium Runed Blade
. Luckily, there are also very close alternatives from faction Quartermasters and dungeons, like
Blade of the Archmage
/
Stormcaller
, or lower performing dungeon drops, like
Greatsword of Horrid Dreams
.
Specifically against Demon enemies such as
瑪瑟里頓
or
莫克札王子
, the
Illidari-Bane Mageblade
is great to have and use, at least until you replace both of your weapons by the phase 1 best options.

There are a few decent staves available in TBC, but as previously mentioned, they are all outclassed by one-handed weapons and off-hands. Even
Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian
isn't that impressive anymore, as many one-handed weapons are better, and some staves even come very close to it.
Still, it is the best staff option for Mages pre-raid, although with how rare it is, most people will have to look at things like
Terokk's Shadowstaff
or
Auchenai Staff
instead.

is by far the best choice. It provides a ton more damage than anything else and is pretty simple to get, as it just requires badges.

I would add random BoE greens to offhand. Specifically "Of the Invoker". I managed to get "Archmage Orb of the Invoker" for less than 30g. It comes with +14 int, +17 spell damage and spell crit rating +14.

You should definitely add
飛天女巫帽
to the helm list. The amount of hit, SP and base stats makes it actually one of the best helms and it's a quest item so easy to get.
