Just got this, It was pretty hard thinking about how I would get a group for armor, but then i just PM'd everyone in shadowmoon valley and i got a group going :) tank required.

Only bad thing about this Helm is that if your running through Shadowmoon, there is always taht chance you get hit by the Mounted Pats

About the quest:

To obtain you have to go through a series of quests. As Necc said it starts with the first chain "A Hounted History" that you can obtain from Shadowmoon Valley, -Shadowmoon Village- for Horde, -Wildhammer Stronghold- for Alliance. the last three quests that are named "Divination-Gorefiend's Armor" that requires a -healer, tank, DPS group. "Divination-Gorefiend's Cloak" -that you can obtain from -Clerics of Karabor- It's a rare drop but i got it in a little time. Finally the last quest "Divination-Gorefiend's Truncheon" is obtained from the Karabor Riders. This quest is soloable for mages & hunters. Especially hunters.

What vietxquanstah said is true couse i'm a fire spec mage and fire relies on crit more than frost and this can be a 36 crit rating helm with the right gems.

Imo Incanter's Cowl ( https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=28278 ) with the right gems is WAY etter than this one. I've got Incanter's Cowl with an Insightful Earthstorm Diamond ( https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=25901 ), and aBrilliant Golden Draenite ( https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=23113 ), which means that I've got 45 int on the head all together. :) Pretty much crit chance there, and you can have up to 49 int on it, if you want to spend some more gold on a Brilliant Lionseye ( https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=32204 ).

I think u can get it at 66-67 lvl if you find a 70 warlock to get to the stone with his flying mount and summon you .
I have seen people having this at 67.

Giving the +5 Spell Damage bonus

You end up with this having the same Spell Damage, +4 Hit, -9 Crit and + 6 Stamina over the Mag'hari Ritualists Horns. With the additional possibility of getting ganked by the Ghost Riders in Shadowmoon Valley.

Making this probably a smidge better, but it'll cost you 200 gold + for the privilage.

For a shadow priest with Ata'mal Crown, is this any improvement? I know crit aint very useful for me and losing loads of base atributes and dps/heal for a socketted item doesn't seem a good choice.

You need to finish all of the "Divination: Gorefiend's ...." quests in order to obtain this helmet.

It's a nice quest reward but I prefer others.. Seeing that, should you not find a lock to summon you, you will need a flying mount... 900g or this helmet.. I'd go for the instances instead of this tbh...

You need to have completed these quests:

This one you can solo it at lvl 68

This one you should make a group ( it's a patrol of 4 horsemen in SMooN), but as a 70-level mage you should do by your own

This one requires a Flying mount. You should make a party of 4-5 people and defeat a dragon in a island southeastern Shadow moon.

Then after completing these quests, the mob who gave you those, gives you another one. You have to mind-control him and defeat a draenei. After that, return to Wildhammer Stronghold and here's the reward.

Not at all. Thott has this in the top 10 damage caster helms. You can easily socket this to be around 30stam/int, too. Then you get another +5 spell damage bonus (Bringing it to +44). If you're like me and had to create alts from all the damn ZG enchants, then this thing has the potential to be a contender with some Epic helms.

With a ZG enchant and only rare gems:

+30int
+30stam
+24crit
+1 hit
and +64 damage. Tell me that's not epic. ;)

This chain is easy and quick, if you have a good 4man group. At first we got ashes on our own, then grouped up for the second part to kill the ghosts in the foretress. Then, we went to the spirit and got the 3 next quests. We did those in about 20 mins, because we saw the ghost riders for the staff where you get the cloak. We then went to kill the dragon, and did the MC part one by one. Took about an hour for all of us to do it. So if you wanna save time, then find a group :).

And the word here is... Easy to obtain.

In 2.0.10, Blizzard nerf this helm, reducing the +dmg by 4.

But even then, it's still remain one of the easiest versus best helm someone can find before raiding. You can do the whole quest chain in a few hours.

Spellstrike is better, but also cost the skin of your butt.

u need 2 do those 3 quests than u control the quest giver and beat sum dranei's ass and than he makes u go back 2 wildhammer and u choose ur helm not that hard stop ^&*!@ing.. and u need a lvl 70 warlock with a flying mount if u dont have 1 or if ur 2 low to fly 2 the island and summon u with the group 2 kill the dragon s o u can get his armor

U get a "glyph" or something from Zul'Gurub rep, that is a pre-TBC instance. That glyph can be put on any helmet giving a bonus in dmg and stamina and such (haven't checked the exact numbers)

70 holy priest duoed this with my guild 70 protection warrior. :)

The fight took 8 minutes though since I didn't bother dpsing just healing. I just cast max rank gheal and max rank renew on him and waited till he was down again for another heal. Had lots of time in between heals for my mana to regen.

Was really kind of funny actually.

So Good Arent that Freaking Hat Either For a Mage i got a Junior Technician 3rd Grade Goggles and it got more spelldamage except that Evoker got some Crictical Damage (lvl 68 mage) so i dont see the good thing
