Just like the jellyfish Tailoring quest before, bring along a pillow, some blankets, and cyanide pills. The drop rate of the furs is frustratingly low and the respawn rate of the bears aren't great either. Spent around 40 mins on this quest alone.

20 bears and just 3 furs. The drop rate may be 33% but the respawn time is awful and scaling just makes the quest even longer!

It's faster to grab 2 bears, breed cubs, wait for them to mature, and then skin them for their fur, than to get it from drops.

Feels like killing murlocs and no heads are dropping. These bears should have no fur visually, because it's sure missing in the loot bag!

I farmed the bears for about 3 hours and not one single Bear Fur dropped. Then i realized that it's in a crate by the feet of the quest giver... yeah. Don't worry though, I found a puppy pretty soon after I realized my error and kicked it.

Use the addon "Server Hop" and bounce from server to server killing bears... Easy peasy lemon squeezy........ Or something like that

Done it on my alt tonight, I had that area for me alone, pulled in pairs (destro lock) and it still took me about 15 minutes to finish it. Not every pair dropped a fur and only once I saw two furs from a pair of bears, so the drop rate is about 33% as noted by others. Given that you need 15 and there are like 10 bears around... GG stretching the content blizz, I thought the alchemy/herb quests were tedious but this one takes the cake so far. Can't even imagine the kind of frustration it was around the launch day.

Today i learned that bears having fur is a genetic mutation, that only occurs in roughly 5% of bear population.

tl'dr - 78 kills, still on 13 fur.

One of the few things I really don't like about this xpac so far. All the quests with low drop rates.

Small area, low respawn and 3 ppl doing the quest because it takes forever.

And ridiculous because every bear should have fur!

And more horrid quest design from the devs , im on 50 plus bears and have 4 deaths only at 12 furs so far. Sadly i have 3 more tailors to get this with , crap like this drive ppl from game

There are many spots where bears located, the good one is west from Azurewing repose, there also a world quest may be, so many players will help you to kill bears across quest area. Also drop rate of furs is really bad.

I'm not sure if this is a coincidence, but the Nightfallen tailoring NPC also sends you out on a quest to collect shears and other supplies from his workplace in Azsuna. Once I picked up the shears the furs started dropping a lot more frequently.

Ahhhh, I just had flashbacks of Hellfire Peninsula, where I spent hours trying to collect 12 Cursed Talisman from Bleeding Hollow Orcs. I can't go back there again, man! It messed me up real bad! ... and Zangar Marsh, why do you haunt me Unidentified Plant Parts ... dark times ... dark times.

If you happen to align with the world quest A Cleansing Cocktail, it makes this quest MUCH easier. I came out one night to do it but put it off because the drop rate was so bad. The next day, A Cleansing Cocktail popped up in the world quests. The drop rate is still horrible, BUT there are many more bears. By grouping with people, I had a bunch of folks tagging bears for me. I just waited til I had fifteen furs to collect the hipogryph eggs.

Took me 31 kills to get my 15 furs, which puts the drop rate at just under 50%. This is a needlessly tedious quest even if droprates were 100% since there's only a handful of bears in this area to begin with. The fact that a quest designer at Blizzard INTENTIONALLY made the drop rate less than 100% for the sake of making this quest take a really long time is pretty disappointing. 5 furs at 50% drop rate? Sure, no problem. 15? Really dumb.

On the positive side, I got 44 fatty bearsteaks to send to my cooking alt and skinned 81 stonehide leathers for my leatherworker alt, so it wasn't a total waste of time.

Just gotta echo - the most tedious quest in this expansion - low drop rate and very few bears there anyway! seems about one bear in three has actual fur - the rest must have fur illusion . . . "What are they hiding?" . . .

This reminds me of my first recipe, Beer Basted Ribs, as a lvl 10, in Dun Morogh. Killing boars for their ribs. Only one boar in three has ribs? How? What keeps them together?

The fastest way to farm this is going to the spot just northeast of "Nar'Thalas Academy on the map. The bears there have a somewhat good spawnrate rather than the spot marked on the map in the info. Those are also in about half of the cases already attacking birds which makes the quest take even longer.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Kangi##DELIM##

This quest reminds me of the Zephra hooves quest back in old times.. All the bears obviously have fur but for some reason you have to kill 3x as many bears at least in order to obtain 15 furs.. if you don't have skinning and you have a Skinner in your guild or friends list bring them along they can get some extra skins..

Excuse me, can someone direct me to the bears? All I seem to be finding is bares.

Ten years of this game and the quest designers still haven't reliably figured out how to do these. Either require a lot of a common thing (bear fur should be stupidly common from a bear), or few of a special/particular type of thing (leftover unmatted undercoat fur, for instance).

I just tried this on my mage and found I really need skinning to to get it done quicker - thought I would log my skinner but they don't pick up the fur only stonehide leather so guess this is gonna take an age

So, my first 3 furs took 9 bears. After that I stopped counting. What moron decided 1/3 drop rate was good? I already did "Left Behind" so that is spurring me to finish but really, bare bears?
