I killed a lot of worgen by letting them run up to me, hitting Thunder Clap to slow them down, and then spam bombs.

Overall, very fun quest to do.

Just completed this on live.

Your the co pilot.

Tough quest - 7 out of 10 and you may need to do a test run to get the feel.

Distance to cover seems to be a 1000 yards, and not the shortest way there.

(After 2 tries - 3rd finished it)

I found the secret is to pan the camera so your looking behind you the whole time.

Spam thunder clap when they get close and spam dash(speed up) when its off cool - JUST after you thunder clap.

--- So,
1) Cam view behind at all times.
2) Hit thunder clap (called Trample) when they are niping at the horses heals or just before.
3) Dash (called Gallop) speed up to get away.
4) Throw a fire strike at them when you feel like it, but I hardly used it.

Do not dismount for any reason, because the quest will not be completed, verified twice.
Now the worgs are not had to kill even you fail they hit for a low amount if ur a caster aoe the hell em.

this is by far the worst quest i have come upon in wotlk. i had to do the escort 2 times before realizing, like other quests, you have to disable add-ons before the abilities will work. i then got the "complete" sign and logged out to turn them back on - to realize the quest had failed...awesome.

I did this as a 73 warlock and I had my tier 5 set on. The horse counts as a pet so everytime I hit the worgs with the flame blast it healed the horse for like 2k hp. Made this quest a joke lol.

There are noticeably less amount of Worg if you take the quest right after someone else started it. I guess most of the spawns are busy chasing the first guy. ;)

just like all the other quests where you get on a vehicle... it takes about a minute or two before the spells start working for me, any ideas? i cant get a head start and by the time the moves start working the horse is at half health or lower...this prevents me from completing it

Escape from Silverbrook is bugged as hell. The control buttons (1, 2, 3) do NOTHING. I ran this quest 1/2 a dozen times and only got the buttons to half-ars work the first time. I even dismissed my pet first.

I agree it was a difficult quest. I found that stunning, flaming, and then speeding away (or maybe speeding and then flaming? :-) ) was what worked; especially when there was a small group forming. I pulled my view back as far as I could to get the best perspective and I faced backwards the whole time as was mentioned. They seem to die easily and I think that flaming them kept them from becoming a huge mob. I actually enjoyed this once I began to get the hang of it. Good luck!

you must remember to use the fire - if you hit them once, the dot will kill them. Otherwise, all of them will eventually catch up with you near the end of the run, and basically zerg you down. A rotation of Stun, Speed, and Fire seemed to work for me.

You can have a friend run interference in this quest as well. I stayed behind my buddy who was doing the quest spamming piercing howl as a warrior... she got through it EASILY without ever touching any of her horse buttons

Finished this quest on my 2nd attempt.
First try to get the feel of it......2nd time I thought I bugged it but it finshed lol.
I jumped on the horse and then accidently clicked LEAVE VEHICLE, so he ran off without me...... so then I mounted and chased after him, surprisingly quest did not reset and no worgens spawned after him. I chased him down after a minute and hopped on the horse and continued to use the techniques above and finished it (with some free distance =D)

Now, I'm wondering if I could have just left vehicle and just mount and ride beside him all the way to Amberpine, cause no worgens seem to spawn unless your on the passanger seat

You'd have to be retarded to fail this quest, imo. It's embarassingly easy, I completed it with my horse at 40% health without even really trying.

-The absolute most important thing is to change your camera following style to "Never" if you haven't before (if you've made it this far in the game, I don't see how you wouldn't have by now, but I digress). To do this, press Esc or click on the options button, click on "Interface", click on the Camera tab, and click on the "Camera Following Style" drop down button, select "Never". This will keep the camera from resetting whenever you let go of your mouse button. This allows you to watch your six constantly (the other guy maneuvers the horse, your job is solely to keep the worgen off the horse).
-Spam your 2 ability (Gallop or some such thing, increases speed).
-Hit the 3 ability (Trample) whenever there's anything close, this will keep you from getting dazed as much as possible.
-Use the 1 ability (flaming oil or whatever) whenever there's a couple of them grouped up and slowed or on your ass. Just target right underneath or right behind your horse and it'll hit them for a dot that will kill them quite quickly.

I didn't hit the speed increase whenever it was up and missed with the oil quite a bit and I still completed with 40% health left, no one should really have trouble with this quest if you exercise a bit of common sense.

Got it in 1 try...barely. It is difficult just keep the camera facing behind at all times and when they get close thunder stomp and then run like hell fire sticks do come in handy if they jump on you. When they jump you thunder clap, fire stick and run!

So.... some of you found a way of doing this quest without being attacked - how boring! Once I realised I was supposed to jump on the horse with the guy and defend it, it was easy, and a lot of fun! (I suspect the long route back was to make it even more fun; otherwise it would have been over far too quickly! :-)

When I did this the second time (died the first time) the guy jumped off the horse when I jumped on. I left him behind and did the whole quest sitting just behind an empty saddle. However, the quest completed successfully.

warning: do not mount the horse after you complete the quest (reach the lodge) and dismount (before it disappears) you will be stuck to a nonexistant/invisible horse. you can't hearth, can't move.

I have completed this quest 5 times now, however, it was always with a lv 73 or lower character.

I finally got around to doing it with a lv 77 Mage and failed 4 times in a row. There were quite a few more Werewolves this time around and so I ended up permanently slowed. I spammed everything I had available but I am guessing the number of attackers is based on your level. At 77 there are just too many to deal with.

I did this quest at night, and it certainly improved the atmosphere. That combined with how the Worgen dash at you on all fours as i throw boiling oil on them really made it seem like a horror movie or somthing.

I was able to do this with relative ease. Let them come close then trample them and throw a fireball. Sprint when you're inbetween waves. Trample's on a shorter cooldown than fireball so just keep spamming it.

I followed the post by Blyth on 11/15/2008 and it worked perfectly. Only used the oil if I wanted to, the stun every time they got close, and the sprint right after I stunned them. Good luck! =)

Dunno why people moan so much about how hard this quest is. I did it in my first try with about 85% hp left on the horse O.o
Just make sure you use your CDs properly. Wait for more than one mob to get close to you before using thunderclap, then throw a fireball in their face and your out of trouble.

I've never had so much fun on this game. This was probably one of the coolest quests I've ever done. It is pretty difficult though, I barely made it on my first try. Let the worgens catch up to you in big groups then thunder clap, followed by the fire then sprint. Repeat until you get back to Amberpine.

No doubt this is a tough quest. But don't give up the first time because it actually gets a little easier the more you do it, and the more you know what to expect. I think we tend to relax a bit when we know what to expect. You'll also get your timing down better.

I was multi-boxing with 3 characters and in this case, each one has to do it.
By the third I was almost surprised that I was there so fast, it went very well.
But make sure you can see behind you, that is really important.

DISABLE QUEST HELPER before attempting this quest, it will bug and your skills on the horse will be unusable making the quest quite impossible to complete.

Otherwise, just pan your mouse to watch behind you as the horse runs, and when you toss the fire, target an area in front of you as it takes about 1.5 seconds to actually land.

There's a pretty cool jump half way through the quests, where you clear a whole river. Thought I'd share that with you.

I found this quest rather easy, and fun. I got it on my first run.

My tactic was to let about 5 pile on me, "Trample" them, and then throw the fire into the crowd. (This should be fairly easy, as they walk very slow after Trampling).

This is an awesome quest. It took me two tries because I wasn't ready for it the first time. All you need to do is sprint whenever possible, shock them when they get to close and fire bomb as much as possible. Don't panic.

85 % is quite a believable statement, but I didn't manage to do it on first try, took my 3rd try (after I came here to read a few tips). The thing the helped me most was having my camera tilt backwards to see everything that was gonna come at me, a sufficient use of thunder clap before the mobs got too close and perma dazed you was the key for me. The fire also helped, half way into the quest I had literally no mobs come at me because i had killed most of them.

Use sprint whenever you can.
Use trample whenever it's up and any mob is close enough.
Use oil only when the mobs are slowed, otherwise it will miss.

The first two tries, I had 10+ wogens on me from the get-go and I just couldn't kill them fast enough to get away. Then I noticed that there was another player doing this quest. The third try, there were way less worgens on me. Two to three in the first few waves and the most I had on me at the end was 7 or so.

So it's possible that if there are other players doing this quest, the worgens spawned for them might stay spawned and aggro you, making this quest super hard.

The guy "steering" the horse seemed to be taking a completely nonsensical route when the obvious "good idea" would have been to get on the road and haul ass instead of riding around in circles like he was trying to pick up as many pursuers as possible. It's not nearly as difficult as people are saying... you certainly don't have to 'cheat' the quest. You actually only need to hit the trample ability and can ignore the other two.

Getting dazed is going to be the biggest problem, so trample BEFORE they hit you (it has a wide radius). Then sprint to put more distance between you and them (or not, it really doesn't matter). Don't try and sprint out of daze.

The fire ability is there just to distract you. =)

Whenever I throw the burning oil, it doesn't show as creating any fire on the ground for the worgen to run through, or if I hit the mob of them, no fire on the worgen - it only makes a very small smoke puff on the ground, like some flammable ordinance that failed to detonate properly and only went off with a small poof or straight up as a dud! Anyone else have this issue? I have done it before on other toons and don't recall this being the case; was thinking maybe somethings been changed in the last few patches or something.

It's not a video settings issue, settings are maxed. And if it is doing damage to the worgen, it's ridiculously small, and doesn't amount to enough on the same worgen (for nearly the whole ride) to kill it, let alone do any noticable damage on the displayed health bar over his head!

Is it supposed to do LITERALLY next to nothing for damage (honestly, can't be doing more than 50 damage total per toss per worgen and that's being really generous) or am I somehow using it incorrectly? I try to throw it slightly ahead of me so it lands on the ground right where they are running, leading them slightly on it so it's a bulls-eye. Is there a different/better way that I'm just not realizing somehow?

Here's the rotation that works best for me:
-let all the worgen catch up to you
-(optional) chuck fire at the worgen (aim in front of you a little to actually hit)
-trample/thunderclap
-gallop/sprint

If your health starts getting low and you're nervous about dying, just hop off and follow him on your own mount, and JUMP BACK ON BEFORE HE ARRIVES AT THE DESTINATION.

A WAY TO COMPLETE THIS QUEST IF YOU HAVE A FLYING MOUNT

I did this with my alt this way and it was awesome.

1. Mount up to start the run.
2. Dismount immediately and get on your flying mount
3. Follow the other mount.
4. If you have run it before you'll notice that up to this point doing it this way the mount is not attacked by worgen
5. When you get to the lake you'll notice that the mount stops and doesn't move.
6. At this time mount up on the quest mount.
7. The second you mount up and as you are crossing the river the worgen start attacking
8. Let them get close to you and hit trample, then hit the gallop
9. The trample key tends to stun the worgen giving you the chance to get away.
10. Keep doing this until you get to the camp

Warning: Careful when you hit trample or if you decide to use the fire. If you hit anything else in the vicinity (i.e. bears, deer, wolfs, etc.) these things will attack you as well. Thus, be clear of them before hitting any of the attacks.

That was almost too easy. Of course you use the fire, to kill them, that's why its there. I would throw it in their face, trample, then they would die, or almost be dead, and I'd wait a second for the daze to go away and sprint. Lived with about half health left.

No real tact needed. Just anytime you see more than one worgen giving you grief, Hit the trample. The pil is just for fun really. Hit it when your bored. But all your need is the trample. Instantly slows them down. Hit sprint if it gets sticky. Will be easy.

If the trample was on say, a 10 second cooldown. Then this would be a hard quest.

Pretty much impossible to complete after the 4.0.1 patch due to the increased mob damage. The horse will always die halfway to Amberpine Lodge.

This quest has changed as of 4.0.X for some reason but I found that it is still do-able with some adjusted tactics.

In the past I when I would do this quest I would wait for several worgen to get grouped up to stun and throw fire on them but now with the increased damage this is not possible. The new trick is to not wait for a big group to get in range, instead, just use trample as soon as one is in melee range and keep throwing fire. Trample only has a 3 second cooldown so use it often.

In addition, I found that there were some wolves near the end of the route in a purple meadow that are close enough to aggro and contributed to my failing the quest several times. What I did was I went and killed them first and then flew directly to the quest giver and started the quest, the wolves were still dead when I passed by safely.

I've easily completed this quest with no problems on 6 other toons and I can confirm as above, this is much harder than it used to be - pretty near impossible to do the way it's designed because at some point you WILL be overrun. In the past I never had any trouble making it all the way with 15-20% health left on the horse. Now, the damage the worgen do is much, much higher than before. They appear to be taking more damage from you as well, because they don't die nearly as easily as before. Doing this the old way, I died repeatedly in or just past the river, which isn't even close to the finish line. Even when I mounted at the river, they still managed to kill the horse long before I could get to the finish line, until I figured out you MUST spam ALL three abilities. By not using any one of the abilities every time as soon as it's available, you guarantee failure. Even then, it may take several tries to succeed. Unless you have lots of time to waste or are some kind of purist, take the advice of others and cheat this quest.

By the way, did anybody else notice the "Silverbrook Villager" near the southwest corner of the village who's in worgen form? Should be a dead giveaway something's not right in that place, but I never noticed him before. Was he added in patch 4.0?

This is just not doable anymore.. ive done it on 2 chars..
I made a GM ticket about it. And received the response:
"This quest has actually been removed so you can stop trying!

Wow...This is definitely a lot more challenging right now. I failed 5 times before getting it (kept dying after crossing the river the first time lol)

Just make sure to trample and then throw a fire on them every chance you get and pray you don't get very many misses.

It gets much easier when you pass the river the first time.

Edit: I didn't cheat, I stayed on the mount the entire time. I finished with 1.3k health for the horse.

Very frustrating to try and complete right now. After many tries I just decided to mount and quickly dismount. I mounted my slower flyer and just followed until the last river before Amber Pine. Just catch up to it and remount. You'll be able to finish the quest. I don't like cheats, but this opens up additional quests you will need. Blizz just made this nearly impossible.

I just did it with 30% left with the following pointers

- Use speed as little as possible.
- Kill as many mobs as you can.
- Trample when they're close, try to avoid aggroing normal mobs.

The reason I want to not use speed is that the mobs seem to spawn at certain points of the trip - speeding up the trip speeds up the spawn rate.
The reason I want to kill them is that they never seem to lose aggro, so once they use their sprint, they will be right back at me.
Trample is to survive (obviously).
If they dazed me, trample and speed seemed to have little effect. Instead I just damaged them and used trample once the daze was gone.

I think the reason it is so hard to complete now, is that the sprint's duration was reduced by half, just like the rogue sprint, however the cool down on it was not reduced.

After he went over the last river, I jumped on and was only attacked by 2-3 worgen. The last river the banks are steep but you are on a flying mount just take to the air and then land on the other side and follow him a little more and then right before the lodge, mount up.

It is frustrating to try and do it the way it was created to be done.

This is in 4.0. I just did it this way tonight.

A strategy for this quest is to use the trample ability in *combination* with the fire. Stun them, and then throw the fire while they're stationary. Otherwise, it never seems to hit them at all. Here's a vid demonstrating the technique: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnbIHB1wBiM

As of 4.0.1, the fire cast seems different. Just cast it on them, rather than near your feet. It's probably a bug, but for now imagine it as an instant hit rather than having to throw it. When it ignites, whatever was there when you cast, will catch fire.

Doing it properly will lead to about 30 worgen on you and having to redo it.

As others have mentioned, this quest seems vastly more difficult after patch 4.0.1. I've never had the slightest difficulty with this quest before, but after failing it three times in quick succession and never getting more than about 50% of the way to Amberpine, I cheesed it with the mount trick and washed my hands of it.

If someone wants to play with it for the challenge, one of the notes that you need to throw the fire bombs AT the worgen, rather than leading your target, is entirely correct. This is probably crucially necessary to keeping the newly-buffed number of spawning worgen in check.

I got so angry doing this.

My Death Knight is my 8th Character to level through the zone, and when I couldn't do something I found so easy previously there where a lot of words shouted.

In the end I finished it by Dismounting and Following, then I mounted back up at the end.

Still broken. As others have, I've completed this quest on a few characters in the past, but there's just no way to deal with the mobs as it stands right now. Save yourself the frustration, and go with the exploit.

The key is to use the fire on the worgs you stun with your thunderclap. I mistakenly though the fire was used to redirect and slow their charge towards you.

As another poster said, you have to thin their ranks - otherwise they overtake you no matter what you do.

Thunderclap, and lay down fire where they are stunned. I think on the hotbar this is #3 followed by a quick #1.

Once I did this - the quest went from ridiculous, to manageable.

Sprint right after you have a good group stunned, don't waste it if your horse is stunned.

The path finding and river crossing is annoying, and is part of the problem with this quest. I still had low health and it was a rush when I did complete - I didn't think I was going to make it...

Hmm... I came here expecting to see peoples' comments about how they relate this quest on the coming of worgen in the new expansion. And instead all I see is comments like "oh my, this quest is impossible" and "why I can't talk to him when I fail on the first attempt".
Personally I facerolled it in the 2nd try so honestly, if I did it anyone can do it... But I guess it's the whole bunch of people who QQ to Blizzard about how incompetitive their IQ level is for this game's (really simple) mechanics, and so Blizzard will eventually make this game for 5 y.o. kids to have happy customers.
Call me QQer, troll and downrate me, I don't care. I know this is not the right place to do it but I just had to say it.

First, a tip that I used, is before mounting on his horse, select him and apply a raid icon on him so you can easily track him (ie - I used the blue square). You can easily follow him as the icon shows through trees and stuff.

I kept missing trying to catch him while on my flying mount, so after the first time when I followed him back to Amberpine Lodge, I noticed exactly where he runs to and stops (between the outhouse and the hourses, there's even a patch of grass in almost a circular shape)

So on the next try, I immediately dismounted at the start of the quest, let him run off and I hearthed back to Amberpine Lodge, went outside and to just a little before the place he's going to run and stop at, and waited a bit and he finally came around and I was able to click to mount up and the quest completed. The raid icon helped me recognize him too as he came around.

Something is definitely wrong with this quest after 4.0.1.

First off, something I've noticed elsewhere - a mob will pursue you across virtually an entire zone before dropping combat now. This is the case with this quest; not only does dashing get you to the next spawn point quicker, but the worgen that have been following you will continue to do so no matter what. That's why there seem to be a TON more worgen now.

Secondly, the targeting on this quest is completely screwed up from when I originally did it. As others have pointed out, you have to aim where you want the torch to hit for it to hit anything at all, not ahead of the target.

Finally, it seemed that once the horse got dazed, it stayed dazed until all the pursuing worgen were dead, or stunned and you got enough of a lead to get out of their range. At least, once the worgen start piling up about mid-trip.

All in all, while I do think it's certainly possible to do this quest as it is, enough changed and/or broke in 4.0.1 that this quest is no longer fun - and it used to be one of the best quests in the game.

Did this today in patch 4.0.3

Was harder than the last time I did this (3.3.5) but still feasible without "cheating". Mostly without sprinting and just Tclap + Fire to kill them off. Sprinting just seemed to make it worse.

Quest confirmed hard-coded to be impossible. Your horse automatically dies in the patch of purple heather at around 550 yards from the 'destination' Note that the horse dying is a SPELL and not a result of its health. Basically this is a well-known game developer trick used in order to not have to code any more game content after a certain point. They will hard-code a certain level/mission/quest to be impossible, that way they don't have to actually make they rest of the game.

This was hard enough the first time >> The best advice I've seen so far and that worked for me was to trample, throw fire, and then sprint.

Make sure not to sprint while you're dazed, it won't do anything.

The quest has been fixed and is easily completable now.
I finished with over 75% of my health on the first go without much effort. Back in 4.0.1 the quest was basically impossible.

In 4.0.3 I was able to do the quest the normal way without the flying mount cheat, finished at about 50% health (first try and far from perfect). So it seems to me that the quest got fixed - the worgens didn't hit that hard and there were never more than 5 attacking me. In 4.0.1 I tried about 10 times and gave up, didn't get even halfway...

Cheaters all! I just did the quest on my warlock and I got it done the first try. Only had about 2% health at the end, but I did it!

But I am a Worgen, and none of the npc's seemed to know this. Why would they want to change me into one of them, when I am already? And when i turned in the quest, he insulted me with racist remark against my kind!

They should have made some compensation for this in Cata, but I guess it was overlooked or too low a priority.

I just did it with out having to leave vehicle and ride my own mount it took me two tries to do it though. It felt a little weird doing it as a Worgen as you are trying to escape from Worgen and the guy even asks you if you were bitten even though you obviously were since you are a Worgen.

Seems like this was already covered, but the quest doesn't exactly fit in since Worgen became part of the Alliance. Also, don't know if it was fixed or I'm just ridiculously good, but I made it with like 70% of my health. I felt like I was getting overrun a lot, but nah, managed it easily.

Hey guys, I am using cataclysm and I am doing everything I can to get this guy out of the cage...I've tried talking to him, I've looked for the sparklies or whatever is usually there (the gear)...there is nothing. I know there shouldn't be a key, but I CANNOT get him out of the cage. Does anyone know if this is normal and maybe I'm just doing something wrong, or does it sound like there's a glitch in the quest right now?...If someone could help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Did it the normal way, with a lvl 73 Rogue, and had no problems at all. 1st time made it. U just have to Sprint right after u have Thunderclapped and keep the firepatches for when they gain on u again. Use TC for the new spawns.

"The back" refers to the back of the horse. So don't waste your time looking for oil at the back of the hut. Just jump on the horse the guy jumps on. You'll both be riding the same horse.

Yep, I just laughed in game, at the scout when he asked my toon if he was bitten.

I was really, really hoping the trappers would drop some hints for my worgen when they were talking to him. I mean, he's walking around like it ain't no big thing, while they're hiding it. I was hoping they were going to be like... "Hey, there's a 'card game' happening tonight under the full moon that you should totally show up to tonight... by yourself, with no, ah, other fur-less creatures around." *wink-wink, nudge-nudge*

Listen to Scout and his yells, then follow him to horses. He will pick one and you join the ride.
While you're riding you have to defend the horse from incoming werewolves. You have three skills:

Fire torch - burns mobs and kill them fast.
Haste - force the horse to run very fast.
Hammerfall - strikes the ground in a small radius and slow enemies within the area being struck.

Anyone having trouble with this quest as of 8.0.1? I'm utilizing all the abilities on the horse, but the worgen just don't die and half way through there are just too many worgen chasing and end up killing you.

For an easy way to do this quest, check out @LeonardSmale 's comment, imma quote it here for easy-access ;)

"OK so you can mount the horse and then don't move. Let a spawn of worgs come to you stun (3) them and then pour oil on them (1, mouse click over yourself). Rinse and repeat until all worgs are dead and no more spawn. If your clicks are fast enough your horse will still be at near full health. Then move horse and it will ride you all the way home without you taking any damage. Gallop if you want. "

Also if anyone wonders about the how long the time is for the worgens to stop spawning, I timed it to roughly 5 minutes

Wow. What in the world happened to this quest? The stomp misses half the time, the oil/fire toss is all over the place (and horridly slow), everything dazes the horse.

I recall enjoying this quest back in the day. At the very least, I never had a single issue with it.

Still broken. Managed to beat it on my first try while leveling an alt but my horse was at 15% health at the end. Towards the halfway point in the ride I was spamming all the abilities on cooldown. I think I might've just gotten lucky.

After 3 failed attempts on this quest it seems it is still not scaled properly as of 9.0. The burning oil ability (1) seems to deal very little damage, meaning you become overwhelmed before you can get to Amberpine Lodge.

I tried just spamming the slow (3) and gallop (2) but it wasn't enough.

As mentioned in another comment the best thing to do is to NOT move as you get on the horse. For some reason, it scaled correctly for me as I just waited for the worgen to come in waves and killed them easily with the burning oil ability. Takes a little while (maybe 2/3 minutes) but afterwards you are free to afk as the horse rides back to Amberpine Lodge.

Hope this helps someone who is as confused as I was :)

I didn't have an issue with the quest per se, but there seems to be an uh, issue with the horse's animation going across a small river. It decided to clip out of bounds under the map, then run back up back into bounds...then continued as normal. I did not encounter any other issues, and the "weapons" appear to scale fine, at least at max level. I did this quest again on another toon and it happened again.

For those who run into this issue and worry if it causes any problems with completion, it didn't for me. Nobody else seemed to have this same issue, so I wonder if it's new with the patch.

If you are like me, you picked up the quest and ran away immediately, not realising you have to stick to the person you uncaged. When you later return it seems broken.
However abandon quest and pick it up again. This time follow the person. Happy escape!

It's an escort mission, and its text says so: "Open the wooden cage and help the freed Alliance scout to escape."
You cannot release it from the cage and leave. You have to escort him.
Follow him behind the cabin. Ride the same horse that he rides.
Use skill 2 whenever it's available. 1 to attack and 3 when many are grouped.
You will arrive and deliver the quest.

Biggest thing here is timing. I failed out 3 times. 4th time I made CERTAIN to not do trample around the wildlife. The werewolves in and of themselves do little damage. When I was getting the bears & elk involved they were beating my horse to death. Avoid the wildlife, easy win.

had a small bug attempting this quest today, the horse did not move @ all and i fixed it by moving the horse myself (like a mount) then the "auto pilot" activated after a phew seconds and then everything went as planned :)
