Only the Reins of the Azure Water Strider are in-game, through Exalted reputation with The Anglers in Krasarang Wilds.

The other four colors of this mount, though available from the same vendor during beta, are currently unavailable.

So, no one's going to comment how absolutely and deathly hard it is to farm Nat Pagle's Lucky Coins and how absolutely messed up it is even the idea of 100 of those? I'm not sure I want to farm it just in case it becomes extremely easy to farm, much like so many things in this game.

Consider the ~1% drop rate of a Lunker (Elsanglin says perhaps a tiny bit higher). The Lunker to Coin ratio is 1:1. That's one hundred Lunkers. That's approximately 10,000 fish. Each cast could average out to ~10 seconds, 10x10,000 is 100,000 seconds. How many minutes in 100,000 seconds is 1666.66 minutes. How many hours in that, 27. I even went easy on you, and you're looking at 27 hours of continuous non-interrupted fishing. If you add in human errors, space between fishes, 1 second extra per fish. 1 second becomes 10,000 seconds. THAT'S ANOTHER 2.77 HOURS! YOU'RE LOOKING AT DAY AFTER DAY AFTER DAY OF FISHING AND FISHIES, ALL FOR WHAT? Hello everyone!

This is my first lenghtier post here so please excuse me if I miss any useful information.

I thought that obtaining this mount would be a fun yet mindless challenge for me, and I might as well share my results every now and again for everyone to read while I'm at it. I've decided to approach this grind with a 5 lunkers/day mindset whenever I feel like fishing and have the time. I won't be posting time spent fishing or the quantities of different kinds of fish caught, but rather the total amount of items caught per 5 lunkers and different fishing locations (if they vary).

I'm currently sitting at 10 coins so far (Fire Ammonite Lunkers), so if I ever get to a 100 coins, I'll add an average of those 10 to the total number of items caught.

My usual fishing equipment consists of:

But I will be using the following when ever possible (I have personally not found any evidence proving that fishing skill affects lunker catch rate (I will correct this if proven otherwise)):

I've just now finished fishing my first 5 lunkers after starting to write this post.

Session 1 (Dec 8th) - Total number of items caught per 5 lunkers: 520

- 3 x Fire Ammonite Lunker caught in Frostfire Ridge, The Burning Glacier: 43.9, 67.3.
- 2 x Blackwater Whiptail Lunker caught in Talador, Terokkar Refuge: 69.9, 58.6.

I chose these spots just for the convenience. The Fire Ammonite Lunker spot is just to the West of your (Horde) Garrison. Agurak's Fall would be an ideal alternative for the Alliance. As for the Blackwater Whiptail Lunker spot, well, to be perfectly honest, I've enough Fire Ammonite Tentacle to last the whole expansion so I just took a flight path closest to fishable water. So far the only thing that's changed is the scenery.

Session 2 (Dec 8th) - Total number of items caught per 5 lunkers: 233

- 3 x Blackwater Whiptail Lunker caught in Talador, Terokkar Refuge: 69.9, 58.6. (Same spot as previously)
- 2 x Jawless Skulker Lunker caught in Gorgrond, Evermorn Springs: 42.9, 79.3. I did not stay in Bastion Rise, for the Rivermallows there started to get on my nerves pretty quickly.

To me it looks like the Sharpened Tuskarr Spear does not increase my chances to fish lunkers. It has such a short uptime I got 4/5 of the lunkers without the buff. Obviously I got incredibly lucky with these 5. I still need to fish a lot more before I can come to any conclusions. I'll continue fishing for the first 3 in Gorgrond, and move to the Spires of Arak afterwards.

Session 3 (Dec 8th) - Total number of items caught per 5 lunkers: 502

- 3 x Jawless Skulker Lunker caught in Gorgrond, Evermorn Springs: 42.9, 79.3. (Same spot as previously)
- 2 x Abyssal Gulper Lunker caught in Spires of Arak, Spires of Arak: 26.4, 24.8. This place is secluded and beautiful. The waters near Crow's Crook can be crowded and that might be a bad thing if you're on a PvP server (although fishermen most often just wish to focus on their own objective), or if you're like me, you enjoy being left alone to relax. Apexis Excavation's waters are too narrow and shallow to guarantee landing your bobber in the water.

The ratios compared between the 3 sessions are peculiar indeed. The results so far suggest that the best zone for fishing up lunkers would be Talador. Of course, such a statement is grosely speculated, and more data is required.

Session 4 (Dec 8th) - Total number of items caught per 5 lunkers: 433

- 3 x Abyssal Gulper Lunker caught in Spires of Arak, Spires of Arak: 26.4, 24.8. (Same spot as previously)
- 2 x Blind Lake Lunker caught in Shadowmoon Valley, The Nightmarsh: 40.6, 49.6. There was a cute little pond in Gloomshade Grove 37.0, 25.4 but apparently it is located too close to the Alliance Garrison and, sure enough, I was quickly becoming surrounded by members of the Alliance. I would also advise against The Shimmer Moor located in the South-Eastern part of Shadowmoon Valley. I spent a hefty amount of time there without catching a single lunker. Only after I switched to The Nightmarsh did I catch my first Blind Lake Lunker.

Session 5 (Dec 9th) - Total number of items caught per 5 lunkers: 421

- 3 x Blind Lake Lunker caught in Shadowmoon Valley, The Nightmarsh: 40.6, 49.6. (Same spot as previously)
- 2 x Fat Sleeper Lunker caught in Nagrand, Wor'var: 84.3, 44.9. What can I say? I'm always on the lookout for traditional and sensible places to fish from, and there isn't a sight more traditional than a fisherman on a bridge. Granted it's a crummy bridge but in WoW I'll take any bridge possible! Also, I should note that this is most likely a Horde only spot. Telaar would be a great alternative for the Alliance.

Session 6 (Dec 11th) - Total number of items caught per 5 lunkers: 312

- 3 x Fat Sleeper Lunker caught in Nagrand, Wor'var: 84.3, 44.9. (Same spot as previously)
- 2 x Fire Ammonite Lunker caught in Frostfire Ridge, Agurak's Fall: 83.5, 71.6. I wanted to find the alternative spot for the Alliance to fish Fire Ammonite Lunker, and anywhere in Agurak's Fall seems quite optimal. If you're concerned about the leveling Horde parrers-by there are plenty of elevated platforms to fish from. The scenery's kind of dull, and I seem to be having the worst luck right now with "Internal Bag Error"s; I've lost 3 lunkers today, boo. The MOTD would be: "Before you get overly excited over your reeled in lunker make sure you are able to loot it, too!".

I'm definitely starting to feel reluctant to fish. You might want to complete this task over a longer period of time, say, a few months. I just need closure.

If you interested in getting this mount and also in Sea Turtle Riding Turtle i suggest fish for Lunarfall Carp Frostdeep Minnow wich summon Frostdeep Cavedweller or Lunarfall Cavedweller wich not only can drop the 2 turtle mounts but also have a chance on Nat's Lucky Coin. Got 6 coins atm personally from them after 35 kill that doesnt seem much but if you want all the mounts you better take this route and save you possibly alot of lunkers to catch.

I'm going to add my experience and suggestions after finally getting this mount. First I would highly recommend getting an addon that allows double click fishing with your mouse. I was able to get between 270 and 280 catches an hour while sipping my favorite beverage. I used Fishing Buddy which also allows you to track your catch count, % and other features. Next, take your time. I would fish a maximum of an hour at a time, but mostly get to 100 catches and stop. Sometimes I would get 1- 3 lunkers, sometimes nothing. Most of the time I got 1. The mistake I made was I got to 85 coins and tried to finish. I got frustrated after hours of fishing because there were times I would go 300 fish with nothing.
Next, there have been some posts suggesting using an alcoholic beverage on your character would increase your chances since when Nat visits you he advises to have patience and beer. I tested it out on thousands of casts with or without Captain Rumsey's Lager . The drop rate for lunkers was about the same, around 1.3%. Nat also tells you to never fish without a cooler, so I got an Advanced Refrigeration Unit. No difference. Finally, remember if you were like me and had zero rep with Nat Pagle (you need to be best friends with him in order to purchase the mount), 100 lunker turn-ins for coins will only garner you 35000 (350 rep per turn-in) of the over 42000 rep needed, so you will either have to fish up some more lunkers, or do some fishing in Krasarang Wilds with Nat's dailies: Flying Tiger Gourami Spinefish Alpha and Mimic Octopus.
I just wanted to add, that if you use Fishing Buddy, turn off auto loot on your interface, but leave auto loot on the addon. At least for me, it seemed to loot a lot faster.

Abashera’s Lunker Fishing Journal

I noticed a few people have said they averaged approximately three fish per hour. Others have lamented that "the drops are dismal," pointing out that they've been at it for an hour or two with no catch.

Rather than take guesstimates of how many lunkers drop per hour, I decided to turn on my Stopwatch and record the amount of time that had past between each lunker catch, so as to get a more accurate idea of DROPS-PER-HOUR - which I believe is what the average person wants to know: “How long is it going to take me to get my mount and/or pet?”

This is the purpose of this journal, to get an accurate idea of how long it takes to get 100 lunkers for Nat’s mount. This way, players can plan their fishing schedule accordingly. (Note: This journal is not however to figure out the drop-rate of lunkers, which is determined by the number of lunkers per cast, which percentage wowhead has already data-mined).

I also notice some debate on wowhead as to whether or not “(beer) really brings in the big catch” as Nat Pagle suggests in his dialogue. I have to admit, when I read that, I too thought Blizzard may have added a “beer mechanic” into the game that increases the chances. Therefor, along with logging my catch times, I also split my lunker catches in half: 50 lunkers with Rumsey’s Lager, and 50 without.

Regarding Sample Size: 100 Lunkers may look like a small sample; but consider too that I caught 10,408 Enormous fish, along with hundreds of smaller fish, bait, lures, etcetera—so the 100 lunkers represent well over 11k casts.

If others want to duplicate this experiment and add their numbers with mine to further increase the accuracy of catches per hour, and , please do. However I’m off to fish up 75 more lunkers for pet and the fishing pole; but I personally won’t be continuing this experiment, the grind is GRUESOME!

CONCLUSIONS

Captain Rumsey’s Lager didn’t make any difference. In fact the drops were better without it, though marginally, likely due to RNG.

Because Captain Rumsey’s Lager didn’t make a difference, I recommend not using it for the simple reason that 1) obviously, it makes no difference, and 2) you have to stop every three minutes to drink, and that only interrupts your fishing rhythm. For the same reason, I also didn’t apply lures, hooks, or Worm Supreme, it makes you have to stop fishing to apply them, and lures and bait have a to apply. The less time you spend applying buffs that don’t increase your lunker chances, the more times you can Cast & Catch, and the more catches you can pull in per hour… the faster you’ll get your booty! (mount/pet/etc)

So what about Nat’s mention of drinking beer to bring in the big catch?

Nat also says “Don’t EVER go fishing without a cooler.” Are we to conclude that we need to have a Portable Refrigerator in addition to drinking Captain Rumsey’s Lager? And what about the Discarded Lucky Coin, which bears more than a remarkable resemblance to Nat’s Lucky Coin? …I mean, it’s the same icon, and the name is only one word off.

But I would expect a lush to recommend beer and a cooler. Truth is, I don’t think Nat’s a good fisherman (or he’s just too drunk to fish), which is why I have to catch his food for him.

But go ahead and drink the lager if the placebo effect makes you feel good… or for the actual +10 fishing bonus.

FISHING FACTS

— The Nat Pagle Follower must be assigned to your Fishing Shack to catch Lunkers.

— Lunkers are unique, and only 5 of each type can be caught and owned before needing to return to base and turn them in.

— The addon Fishing Buddy is nice, and helps pass the time.

— I fished up between one and six Ephemeral poles per day, and just kept equipping the newest pole.

— My fastest lunker catch was 3 seconds after the first cast; my longest time between catches was 2 hours and 18 minutes (eternity). If you go over two hours, it’s just bad RNG. It evens out when you catch two or three within a few minutes or seconds.

— I alternated fishing spots (zones), catching equal amounts of all “enormous” fish types, mainly so I could send them to alts to level fishing through the Fishing Shack dailies.

— Saberfish are the best way to level cooking, I leveled up the cooking skill on four toons, and have more than enough Enormous Crescent Saberfish for the rest of my toons (if they were all lvl 100). I’m even sending some to friends so they can level cooking.

— I did the Pandaria Nat Pagle dailies at the same time, and got my rep from buddy to to Best Friend (exalted) in just four days!

— Nat Pagle is a real putz. Oh, and “GET THE HELL OFF MY RAFT NAT!” If you ever fish in the 1st person view, Nat WILL make you lose a few fish! They should have named him Gnat.

If you're starting from Stranger reputation with Nat Pagle, it will take 144 Lunker turn-ins before you hit the required Best Friend reputation with Nat Pagle. So unless you're also going for the pet he sells (or any other goodies you can get with Nat's Lucky Coin) I suggest you do Mists dailies to supplement your rep gains.

It appears with 6.1 they have increased the drop rate by your skill level. According to El's chart, which tested it on ptr, at a skill level of 700, there was a 7% drop rate, all the way up to 30% for an 1100 skill level. However, when 6.1 went live, El's said it was about 1/6 of the ptr rates. I'll try to do some testing myself soon.

I got the addon Fishing Buddy to keep track of how many fish total I caught, as well as how long I spent fishing. In the end, here are the results with 700 Skill, Big Iron Fishing Pole (+20), and Fishing Baubles (+75), total of 795 skill.

*Note that before I got the addon I got 5 Lunkers, hence the five missing in my report below. All five took less than 100 catches.

Total Fish: 1518
Nagrand: 1239 (70 Lunkers, both Fat Sleeper and Sea Scorpion)
Talador: 189 (15 Lunkers)
Frostfire Ridge (I decided to give this zone a go, but in the end it proved to take far too long to travel between pools): 39 (5 Lunkers)
Shadowmoon Valley (I also decided to try this zone, but despite there being a big river in the center of the zone, there were actually very few schools.): 51 (5 Lunkers)

Total time spent fishing: 13:28:42

Factoring in trips back to the Garisson, flight paths between zones, having to stop to kill mobs that got in the way, and my leaving the computer for various reasons, it's probably closer to 12/12.5 hours, which were spent divided over three days.

My method for this, for anyone interested, is actually fairly simple. I recommend doing the entirety of your fishing in Nagrand, because that's where I had the most success. Every trip I made to Nagrand started to Throne of the Elements, where I then travelled down the river fishing in any Fat Sleeper Schools along the way. Most of the time I would get 5 lunkers by the time I reached the ocean, where I would then follow the coastline South towards Ironfist Harbor and Windroc Bay. Once down there, I travelled back and forth between those two areas until I had 5 Sea Scorpion Lunkers (Bringing me to ten total for the entire trip), and then hearthed back to my Garrison.

It's worth noting that Talador is also an excellent place to fish for lunkers, as the river in the center of the map is a perfect figure-8 design and is easily traveled. Admittedly, a few times when I was up for it, I took the Flight Path from Nivek's Overlook (South of Nagrand) to either Durotan's Grasp or Terokkar Refuge and cycled through there until I got another 5 Lunkers.

I finished farming the coins required for the Crimson Water strider last night. I did all of my fishing for Lunkers, except for one, after 6.1.

I did all my fishing at 1100 Skill with:

You are guaranteed at least one of those three items from each Frostdeep Cavedweller/Lunarfall Cavedweller you kill. The mob is summoned by fishing for Frostdeep Minnow at your garrison. Typically it would take me about twenty minutes to get the Ephemeral Fishing Pole, which is more rare than the hats.

I do not have statistics for the entire run of lunkers, but I do have them for the last 65. With 1100 skill I wound up with a 4% drop rate.

I did do some fishing at 1600+ skill, but I did not notice any significant increase in drop rate over 1100 skill. This was done fishing in a group with multiple stacks of "Fragrant" Pheromone Fish.

Since it has been buffed, I found it to be rather easy. In about 8 hours I had all 100 coins. As well as having the +100 hat and +100 rod, I also used +200 food and the lager. I went to Throne in Nagrand, and fished there. I only stuck to a small area and fished in pools, and when there were no pools I would realm hop to another realm. From doing this, I regularly found that I had 5 Lunkers before my Garrison HS even came off cooldown from the last hand ins, and I would use Aviana's Feather to fly back to Throne quickly. Hope this helps!

I got all my WoD Nat Pagle Rewards a couple of days ago.

I spend about 40 Hours of Fishing in the timespan of 1.5 Week to get all 250 Lucky Coins. The droprate of the Lunkers is really random aswell, my best was 5 Lunkers in 14 Minutes, while the worst was 5 in an Hour.

It's really doable, but you need to have the patience for it. If you get bored after 10 Minutes, then don't bother :)

The Mount is really worth it, that's all i can say.

seriously? why would they increase the drop rate? They already leave almost NOTHING in this game requiring any investment of any sort. Downvote your hearts out console kiddies. MMORPGS require an investment for the more elite items.

Lets think about this... while farming for the mount, you get fish which A) helps you craft amazing food and pots and B) sells on the auction house for profit .. AND you get an awesome mount.

yea lets make this easier/better than it already is.

I managed to farm up 100 of Nat's Lucky Coins over a few weeks time by fishing in my garrison. Every Day I would take the daily fishing quest, Apply Worm Supreme , then ask Nat for a bait. Using Hightfish Cap or Tentacled Hat along with Dragon Fishing Pole I get my fishing skill up to 1030. I try to fish up at least 5 Lunarfall Carp (that's the maximum amount you can stack). All except one Nat's Lucky Coin which I got from a random lunker I fished up, came from the Lunarfall Cavedweller.

Granted this takes a bit of patience, but it's not so bad being in your garrison and chatting with trade.

Since Tanaan Jungle opened, it's WAY easier to get lunkers now.

Fishing in pools of Felmouth Frenzy, I've gotten like 40 of them over the past couple days. It's crazy. I'm gonna max out rep on Nat Pagle and get the mount within a week at this rate.

I feel like with the addition of the felmouth frenzy lunkers in 6.2 that it's gotten slightly easier to grind coins for this mount, but that may just be because hunting the schools of felmouth frenzy (for purposes of both lunkers and felblight) is more dynamic than setting up camp next to some water somewhere and just going for it. I tried to work on summoning the cavedwellers in my garrison, but since the lunarfall carp/frostwall minnows seem to have roughly the same drop rate as the lunkers do, I ended up giving up after catching only 1 in 30 minutes of fishing.

No matter how you end up going about it, this is not an easy mount to get.

7.0.1 Update - There are a few comments floating around about doing 40 man raid groups and fishing for Lunarfall Cavedweller/Frostdeep Cavedweller. Not sure what phrase to look at in group finder, but you will need to ensure you have your level 3 fishing shack still. The boss is personal loot meaning you may have a better time of getting coins this way as 40 people fishing for the item it shouldn't take long to get them. This is also a good chance to farm your fishing turtle mounts if you don't already have them as they are in the loot table as well.

With the addition of flying in 6.2.2, Fishing in pools is more efficient than fishing in open water. See below for data.

With increased drop rates and inclusion of pools, about 8 hours of fishing should net you your mount! (post quests leading up to catching 100 lunkers)

In scanning the comments across the mount, coins, pools, lunkers, and whatever else I could find I came up with some common facts that I wanted to put in a single post along with my current hypothesis on the fastest way to catch 100+ lunkers.

You can catch lunkers anywhere there is fishable water except your Garrison. This includes Tanaan Jungle.
All fish are not created equal for lunkers. Thanks to a post in the comments section of the Reins of the Crimson Water Strider we can assume fishing for Enormous Abyssal Gulper Eel appears to have the best lunker rate. Head to 65,21 in Spires of Arak for a nice quiet place to waste your life...
Having bait should not effect your catch rate. However, with a max skill you will always have bait on you, so why not.
The higher your fishing skill, the better the drop rate.
Once you have a level 3 fishing shack, it is a good idea to fish up Frostdeep Minnow for Horde or Lunarfall Carp for Alliance. The drop rate is about 1% and should take you 20-30 minutes to fish up.
Using those items spawns Lunarfall Cavedweller/Frostdeep Cavedweller which has a decent chance to drop fishing items that will greatly enhance your skill such as: Hightfish Cap and Ephemeral Fishing Pole.

Based on a previous comment, a user stated that the drop rate in pools seemed higher for lunkers. They also noted that the pools off the coast of Spires of Arak respawn at a great rate, and come in decent groups. Because of this comment and the addition of flying I decided to test this theory directly.

Hypothesis: With flying, moving from pool to pool makes a more efficient lunker grind than standing in one spot in fishing due to an increased drop rate.

Controls:

A fishing skill of 1045 or greater will be used throughout. If higher or lower, it will be annotated.
Fishing in pools will primarily be conducted on the east coast of Spires of Arak due to the number/respawn rate of pools creating a ideal uptime to fish in pools.
Fishing in 'open waters' will be conducted in Spires of Arak due to the assumed best drop chance of lunkers in this area.

Notes:

This is now complete. If you want specific sessions of fishing (there were about 6) let me know. Total is posted below.
I'm a salty son of a @#$%^, so my ability to get the lure in the pool is undoubtedly better than yours! :)
Time is being measured using Worm Supreme and a sprinkling of common sense.
Time does not stop when mobs are encountered or a lack of pools is found.
There was no competition for pools which could reduce the total number of effective casts into pools.
Addon being used is Fishing Buddy to ensure the lure stays on and to track numbers/percentages generally speaking.

I deleted the individual sessions which displayed the progress for fishing. After 6.5 hours total of fishing (that were used for this post(3 hours in pools and 3 hours in open water)) 100 lunkers have been caught and I have my sweet time sink mount. Might do pets, I dunno.

Bottom line.
Fishing in pools IS a higher drop chance and the increased drop rate beats open water fishing even if you have to move between pools.
6.5 hours = 84 lunkers. Appx 7.5-8 hours = 100.

Totals
Fishing in Pools - Spires of Arak, East Coast:
Total time spent fishing: 205 Minutes
Total casts/items caught: 691
Total Lunkers: 52
Est. Drop Percentage: 7.5%

Fishing in Open Water - Spires of Arak, near 65,21:
Total time spent fishing: 180 Minutes
Total casts/items caught: 797
Total Lunkers: 32
Est. Drop Percentage: 4.0%

*** Some fishing was done outside of the time/cast measurements. That is why 84 is the total and I have my mount.

Current Conclusion (Updated September 19)
I had multiple terrible sessions of RNG when fishing in open water. Fishing in pools was a consistent 5.5-7.5% drop rate for Lunkers. Because of this, once I hit the mid 80's for lunkers, I swapped to just pools and finish inside of an hour (about 35-40 minutes). If someone fishes in only pools off of Spires of Arak I would estimate they would net 100 lunkers in about 6.5 to 7 hours. Fishing in pools is more efficient than fishing in open water.

After fishing for all the different kinds of lunkers I've found fat sleeper lunkers to have the highest drop rate.

Out of 124 fish caught, 12 were lunkers = ~10% drop rate.

And yes you can indeed now stack more than 5 lunkers!

tonight I caught 4 Blind Lake LUnkers and each time it saic I collect the reins of a Crimson Water Strider but there wasn't one in my backpack or in my list of mounts. Any ideas?

Just purchased that mount and wanted to share my experience with those who read top posts and feel it's close to impossible to get. I've got it in about 7 hours of fishing stretched over a course of a week.
What I had:
1. Fishing skill 700
2. Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole for +30 fishing
3. Worm Supreme - +200 fishing skill for 10 minutes, bought off of AH.

I bought 40 Worm Supreme and kept the buff up for the most of my fishing which tells me I spent just over 400 minutes fishing for Lunkers, although I did not keep the exact time.

Where:
95 Lunkers I fished off two spots:
1. Small pond of lava at the Frostwall exit. The one that's really small and right up the road.
2. Flew to Terokkar Refuge in Talador and fished at the closest water. This one has advantage of dropping "fragrant" fish to increase fishing skill by 100 for 5 minutes (stackable).

I don't think place matters, tried fishing in Nagrand and Arak, didn't notice much difference. I don't think pools matter. And the catch does not matter. Lunkers are dropped with any catch, including Burnt Clump

How:
I fished open water, not fish schools
Kept Worm Supreme up
Applied "Fragrant" Pheromone Fish as soon as I got them.

What I noticed:
If I started to get Lunkers in I'd get them in bunches: 2-3 within 10 catches. Whenever I spent first 10 minutes with no Lunkers caught I'd just stop fishing. If my first ten minutes bring 2-3 Lunkers I'd go for a second Worm Supreme and stay for 10 more minutes.
On average I'd get 2-3 Lunkers per 10 minute stretch. Once I got three in a row. Once I got 5 in 5 minutes.

In Legion, the waterwalking effect will only works in Draenor.
This is likely to make the Fishing Artifact appealing as it has a waterwalking perk.

The very sad thing about this mount, which takes a lifetime to farm;

It will only allow water walking up to WoD, not in Legion.
The Reins of the Azure Water Strider will allow water walking up to MoP, not WoD / Legion.

So now I ask you, is it really worth it to try and still farm this, as it basically becomes a "fashion accessory" in the game, like any other mount.

The water walking mounts will also no longer allow you to use that function in battlegrounds, and the effect is cancelled if you get attacked as well.

I was trying to farm this mount with simply fishing in waters around in draenor.
At best i got 1 ever 15 minutes in every zone.
But today i flew to tanaan and was trying to get the lurkers form schools of Felmouth Frenzy, because i thought i could get some felblight too.
At the second school i got an Felmouth Frenzy Lunker, and this was going on pretty good. After an hour i stopped fishing (because i realy hate fishing) but i got around 24 Felmouth Frenzy Lunker (and 2 felblight.....)

You need to fly around hellfire citadel, there are always some schools.

For me, the best spot is to farm is Tannanjungle.

How to both level fishing fast in WoW Legion (level 1200) or get the Reins of the Crimson Water Strider.

Please note before you continue reading: You will need to have a Draenor Garrison with a level 3 fishing shack to get your Crimson water strider. If you don't have that, then get the Reins of the Azure Water Strider in Pandaria.

So you're level 100+ and you're here, not because you fish, or you don't fish at all, but because you're sick of watching other toons skitter around Broken Isles and the dungeons on their Crimson Water Strider (Reins of the Crimson Water Strider), while you slowly swim to keep up, right? Here is my guide to getting the Reins of the Crimson Water Strider.

(Note: this is still relevant even after Legion Flying because you can't fly in dungeons. You CAN mount your water strider, if you have one, in outdoor dungeons though.)

Let's assume your fishing level is... zero, zippo, zilch, goose egg, nuthin. You can't go any lower. The idea of bait disgusts you and you can't sit still for more than 5 minutes. The Otis Redding song "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay" makes no sense and has no emotional value for you whatsoever. But you can't stand that other people have things you don't. Okay. Tap into that. You're going to need all the jealousy and envy you can muster to do this. It's worth it even post Legion flying.

Buy a basic fishing pole from a fishing trainer and start fishing at the Broken Isles off the coast of Suramar 76,76 (hint: if you can't fly yet, jump off Dalaran on a goblin glider kit to all around the small island at Suramar 76,76 for easy barracuda pools).

When you get to level 50 or so, go fish anywhere in Draenor to fish up the Fishing Guide to Draenor (you don't need to be fishing level 50, but try to get this before you hit level 75).

After that, you can get to level 700 quickly by doing stuff like getting

Nat's Lucky Fishing Pole (at level 225),
Nat's Fishing Journal,
Weather-Beaten Journal (which I can confirm can be fished up at Broken Isles),
Worm Supreme and
fishing for Black Barracuda at anywhere on the outer edges of the Broken Isles.

The Broken Isles pools drop Stunned, Angry Shark (You click on them in your bag to bring them out, but be careful they hit hard - make sure your weapon is equipped) but they level up your fishing super fast to 700 with the Seabottom Squid they drop. Once you're 700, unlock Legion Fishing (you can do it sooner if you want) by talking to Marcia Chase. At 700 you do Draenor Angler (you'll have better luck if you wait to 700+) and more barracuda to get to fishing level 800, get your level 3 shack, recruit Nat Pagle (Luring Nat), get about 60 Worm Supreme from the auction house, Ephemeral Fishing Pole and the Hightfish Cap from your garrison pond, and now you're ready to go at a total level of 1200 (800+400).

Now you have to get Lunkers which you turn into Nat for a lucky coin each. 100 coins will buy the strider from Nat.

When you're fishing lunkers, bait is not necessary unless you want to avoid getting hundreds and hundreds of Enormous Crescent Saberfish. But bait doesn't apply to getting lunkers (see tooltip). If you use bait, you'll just get the enormous variety of whatever bait you're using, something to consider if you're going to have to do something with (like, sell or make potions with) the 2000+ fish you'll have to fish up to get all the lunkers you need.

Where to get lunkers

At level 1200, give or take a buff, I got one Abyssal Gulper Lunker every 5 minutes under the bridge at Spires of Arak 60, 17, by the flight path to Akeeta's hovel.

What not to do: Don't give into impatience: You'll end up wasting more time. Considering I would have to spend 500 minutes to get the mount, I really didn't have the patience. I tried Fat Sleeper Lunker in Nagrand, and got 3 to 4 lunkers every ten to 20 minutes from pools but that was because I was pool hunting. Fishing Fat Sleeper Lunker means you're spending time running to pools which seem to despawn after 4 casts or fighting mobs. The mobs may be lower level but they're still irritating. Can't fish in combat. Gorgrond just west of the Deeproot flight path around 40,79 has some bursty spots of Jawless Skulker Lunker (I got 9 lunkers in first 20 minutes but that never happened again) But honestly, even the Jawless Skulker Lunker were spotty after a while. Other favorite sweet spots dried up too. I think some sweet spots just 'go dry' because someone was just there fishing before you, courtesy of sites like this one. So wither be impatient and run around ultimately wasting more time, or just put on some music and be patient and efficient at Spires.

The Abyssal Gulper Lunker at the above location (Spires of Arak 60, 17) seem to be the most consistent and you don't have to run around finding pools. Just stand there and cast into any water. Boring, but consistent.... and no mobs.

To get 100 lunkers and my mount at level 1200 fishing: I fished up 2200 fish total for a 4.5% drop rate. I figure my total actual fishing time was about 7 to 8 hours, plus about 2 wasted hours spastically running around when I should have just sit tight at Spires of Arak 60, 17.

Oh. If you're hoping your first 100 lunkers from getting Nat Pagle in your garrison will get you the mount, beware. You need to be BEST FRIENDS with the dude. Your first 100 lunkers will get you halfway through GOOD friends.

To get more quick rep with Nat, I got 8 Felmouth Frenzy Lunker from Tanaan Jungle fighting off mobs around the POOLS in the water at 54,57.

MAKE SURE you can quickly equip your weapon if you are lowish level because this is a mob ridden zone. If you have Draenor Flying you can go around the fel waters around Hellfire Citadel, but if you are still an 'immersed land walker', the fel goop kills you pretty quick, so be careful.

I turned my 8 Felmouth Frenzy Lunker in and was just shy of best friends now.

I went back to my spot at Spires of Arak 60, 17 and got 4 more Abyssal Lunkers and went back to my garrison and turned them in. So 12 more lunkers on top of the 100 I already turned in.

DING! Best Friends now. Got my mount.

So you'll need 112-116 Lunkers if you are starting from scratch.

Is it worth getting this mount? By far the most useful mount to have for the cost is Reins of the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth, but I would rate the Strider a close second. You basically now have a boat which can be used now and for forthcoming flightless patches. We all know that gated flying will be a thing from now on every time new territory opens up in forthcoming expansions and patches, so, get your strider.

If you're saving 15 to 20 seconds over swimming it would take about 1.3 hours of time saving to amortize what I guesstimate is 25 hours of actual fishing time or so you'll put toward this if you start from level 0 fishing. (someone smarter than I should check this) I think the math is right, but I'm sure it will pay for itself relatively quickly. Other useful mounts like the Sky Golem let you mine and herb without dismounting, so they are a challenger for second place.

I guess I had a reasonably interesting time getting this, considering I hate fishing. However, the relief of finally getting the mount was pretty joyful. During the whole journey, spread out over several evenings, I was drinking Natural Light Beer in real life. At Nat's 30th annoying visit (you'll see what I mean) while fishing for lunkers, I finally made the connection that I was drinking 'NATty Lite'.

Oh whaa! I took this as a joke, more than anything else. Happily, I got mine today. I also have my Insane title, and all the other stupid cheeves that I like to do. If you fish, you fish, and you don't care cause you'll fish no matter what. It's nice to get something at the end of it. Across all my toons I guess I have about 30k casts. I'll just continue fishing, and doing cheeves. Cheers

I'd just like to add that the wheee buff grants 385 reputation per lunker turn in, and the firewater and bait from darkmoon faire make this go a lot faster. I fished 90% of the lunkers from the smaller lava pool in front of the garrison at frostwall approach. This mount also looks a lot cooler than the azure strider. ^.^

Ok, I just wanna add my experience in case it may help anyone. (I'll try be quick)

I did it in an end of the Legion almost BfA context. I think I spend some 15h to do everything.

1) The part of fish 100 of each enormous fish is easy, took me like 30min for each no problem. Just go in each zone's open water and fish;

2) After that the quest to bring Nat, 15min and it's done;

3) Nat rep = I skiped this part cus I have already grinded it back in MoP so I can't help much here;

4) Now the hardest part. I tryed like every possible place suggested for the other fellow fisherfrieds and my thoughs are that no matter where you fish the chance to get a lunker is always 10% of the chance to get an enormous fish in the same spot. Let me elaborate: using a 1200 fishing skill set I got aroung 50% chance to get enormous fishes in open water and in the same place around 5% to get a lunker. Fishing on polls the catch rate was 100% for enormous and 10% for lunker.

So, what's better then?

In opens water I usually got 5~8 fishes every 30min.
In polls I got around 9 every 30min. The problem here is that even in best place full of polls around, you still have to move and "aim" to fish so the acumulation of those seconds ended up that you lose eficiency.

In the end it's pure rng. I suggests you go straith to polls. I got in one section of 30min 28 lunkers and in another section 7 just to show how rng the thing is.

I wound say to you get the max fishing skill you can but in the current system I doubt that more then 1000 do any difference.

If you just wanna a waterwalking mounting, please, the azure one.

One more thing: forget about fishing coins in yor garrison, I fished +20 of those carps to get just one coin.

This was hard.

I'm a casual WoW player, never rep grinded, never stuck with my dailies, just quested and did dungeons with my friends. BfA really awoken something in me and I craved a water strider, but I didn't feel like waiting for Exalted with the Anglers. After reading about the Reins of the Crimson Water Strider and how I could theoretically get it in one day I decided to give it a go.

If you don't feel like reading all this, here's a cliff notes version of things I wish I knew:

Flying in Draenor speeds up this process a lot because Pools of fish increase Enormous and (I think) Lunker droprate.
The limit for how many Lunkers you can carry is gone. 100 Abyssal Gulper Lunker is fine.
They can all be turned in the same day.
Being best friends with Nat isn't a suggestion. If you don't have rep with Nat, do the MoP daily quests, they're easy. You'll get the rest from turning in Lunkers.

Below is details from my run obtaining the Reins of the Crimson Water Strider

Day One - The Setup:
I've never fished in WoW, so all my skills were 0. I did some research on equipment I could get easily and this was a good way to test the waters to see how hard it is to level. Good news, really easy to level. I decided on a modest setup:

Rod: Nat Pagle's Extreme Angler FC-5000 + Rook's Lucky Fishin' Line
Gloves: Black Mageweave Gloves + Formula: Enchant Gloves - Angler (Bought on AH)
Consumables: Worm Supreme + Oversized Bobber
Addons: Fishing Buddy + GatherMate2 (With WoD Data)
Extras: A podcast or a lot of YouTube videos to watch/Twitch Streamers

Note: For addons, I highly suggest Fishing Buddy. Some of the features make the next 10+ hours of your life a lot easier. Features such as Enhanced Fishing Sounds, Easy Lures, and Easy Cast improve the process a lot.

I started off getting to 100 Classic fishing. I did this near the quest turn in for Nat Pagle's Extreme Angler FC-5000

The Hinterlands, Open Water (51.60, 34.81):
Total Time Spent Fishing: 30 Minutes
Total "Successful" Catches: 135

Once I had the rod, with Rook's Lucky Fishin' Line applied I started my WoD fishing to 100 + my first attempt at catching Enormous variety Draenor Angler

Ashran (Stormshield), Open Water (18.10, 72.81):
Total Time Spent Fishing: 1 hour 50 Minutes (ish)
Total Catches: 405
Total Enormous Sea Scorpion: 100
Enormous Percentage: 24% (Not entirely accurate, some of this was levelling)
Notes: Did have another Angler with me, so occasional "Fragrant" Pheromone Fish buff.

Day One - Enormous Grind:

Spires of Arak, Open Water (51.60, 34.81):
Total Time Spent Fishing: 1 hour 16 minutes
Total Catches: 284
Total Enormous Abyssal Gulper Eel: 100
Enormous Percentage: 35%
Notes: Probably my most successful open waters fishing area. My best EPM (enormous per minute) was here, 58 Enormous Abyssal Gulper Eel in 38 minutes. 37% Enormous Catch Rate

Talador, Open Water (70.79, 59.64):
Total Time Spent Fishing: 1 hour 18 Minutes
Total Catches: 326
Total Enormous Blackwater Whiptail: 100
Enormous Percentage: 30%

Day Two - The Grind Continues:

I started off in Shadowmoon Valley, in a spot I saw in a video. This was the first time I stumbled across a school, or pool of fish. Again, back to my opening - very casual WoW player before BfA, I read some comments which made it seem like pools weren't that beneficial now bait was in the game. But now I think this means, at the time WoD was the most recent expansion, it made more sense to just bait open waters rather than riding around trying to find pools against 100 other players.

Pools are A LOT more efficient for catching Enormous fish. If you have unlocked Draenor Flying Draenor Pathfinder it might very well be more beneficial to exclusively fish pools as I commonly got 4-7 Enormous catches in a row before the pool disappeared. Plus, chance to catch a lunker pre-Fishing Shack Lv. 3. Since I didn't have Draenor Flying, for a bit of my time in Shadowmoon Valley I spent it trying to hit pools so my time below includes travel and other tests.

Shadowmoon Valley, Open Water (19.54, 11.86) and Pools (All over Shadowmoon):
Total Time Spent Fishing: 1 hour 35 Minutes
Total Catches: 309
Total Enormous Blind Lake Sturgeon: 100
Enormous Percentage: 32%
My first and only Lunker before Fishing Shack Lv. 3

Nagrand, Open Water (66.58, 23.50) and Pools (Lap around Throne of Elements):
Total Time Spent Fishing: 1 hour 1 Minute
Total Catches: 179
Total Enormous Blind Lake Sturgeon: 100
Enormous Percentage: 55%
Note: Wow! So easy. So many pools around the Throne of Elements and so easy to get around. That time includes travel. I started my run between 3 pools (my coords), and fished there until my bait and lure ran out. Then I'd make a lap around the Throne of Elements stopping at every pool I found, head back to my starting point, relure, and continue.

Frostfire Ridge, Open Water (36.93, 38.03) and Pools (Lap between my open water coords, and the Boneslag 41.57, 56.70):
Total Time Spent Fishing: 1 hour 2 Minutes
Total Catches: 210
Total Enormous Fire Ammonite: 100
Enormous Percentage: 47%

Day Three - The End in Sight:

Gorgrond, Open Water (45.52, 91.21):
Total Time Spent Fishing: 1 hour 24 Minutes
Total Catches: 309
Total Enormous Jawless Skulker: 100
Enormous Percentage: 32%
Note: I just wanted to watch some videos and have as AFKable experience as possible. Minimize the burnout. Didn't attempt pool laps here, just went to them if I saw them in the pond I was in.

Done! Draenor Angler Achieved. Now I can finally... Start... actually grinding fishing for the mount...

My stats for the first part of getting the mount are as followed:

Total Time Spent Fishing: 9 hours 56 Minutes
Total Catches: 2022 (I forgot to note down the Fish and Other things caught statistic. This is probably skewed)
Total Enormous: 700
Lunkers: 1

I felt a little disheartened after seeing how many Lunkers I caught. 1/2022 and I still needed 99 more for the Nat's Lucky Coin. But my plan was always to get my coins from Lunarfall Cavedweller as I thought I'd have a better time according to comments I was reading as Lunkers have such a low drop %.

Day Three Continued - I'm an idiot:

So, I've got the Fishing Shack Lv. 3, recruited Nat Pagle. Time to grind Lunarfall Carp! Not a bad drop rate, 10% give or take. Check Nat's shop and-

"Requires Nat Pagle - Best Friend".

Never rep grinded. Never did my dailies. 0 rep with Nat and the Anglers. Picked the Reins of the Crimson Water Strider specifically to avoid that stuff and get the mount ASAP. My eyes must've glossed over it on the wowhead link. If I saw that before I started doing this, I probably would've settled for the Reins of the Azure Water Strider. I did a lot of research and figured out what I had to do.

Things I found out:

Lunkers aren't that hard to catch with Nat in your Garrison. Less frequent than Enormous, but I only need 99 (or 100) compared to 700
While they were dailies, I could still turn in 8 per day and hold 5 Lunkers of each variety.
They also give rep (350 without buffs) towards Nat
I can get more rep fishing up 3 fish in MoP and turning them in for

Things I found out 58 lunkers in:

Blizzard removed the amount of Lunkers you could hold.
That was the only limit.
I could theoretically hold 100 Abyssal Gulper Lunker and turn them all in all at once.

This is important to know. I spent the first few hours of my lunker grind just grabbing 5 per zone, thinking that was the cap. Only when I caught 3 in a row pushing me over the limit did I realize something must've changed.

Day Four - The Final Stretch:

My plan now included getting to max level MoP fishing and turning in the 3 daily quests for Nat rep gain. These are really easy to get, and I recommend doing these once a day if you don't already have Nat as a best friend. The fish you're looking for are:

Spinefish Alpha (Kun-Lai Summit, 74.39, 88.74)
Mimic Octopus (Krasarang Wilds, Anglers Warf, 68.37, 44.04)
Flying Tiger Gourami (Kun-Lai Summit 38.51, 46.43)

Max MoP fishing:
Total Time Spent Fishing: 47 Minutes
Total Catches: 135

My stat tracking gets a little weird here, because I couldn't find a way to reset fishing buddy. To get my 99 remaining lunkers took around 7 hours, maybe a little more, maybe a little less. I don't know for sure because it also included some MoP fishing and traveling to different areas thinking I had to catch 5 in each area. But here's a fairly close estimate:

99 Lunkers:
Total Time Spent Fishing: 7 hours
Fish caught: 1743
Total Lunkers: 99
Lunker Percentage: 5.6% (A lot of open water, pools included in this too)

Locations I spent a lot of time:

Shadowmoon Valley (19.54, 11.86) 39 Lunkers
Talador (Shattrath City, 52.98, 46.32) 30 Lunkers
Nagrand (66.58, 23.50) (Fairly busy during peak hours) 14 Lunkers

And finally:

From start (nothing) to finish (Reins of the Crimson Water Strider):
Total Time Spent Fishing: 17 hours 43 Minutes
Fish caught: 3900
Other things Caught (items, etc.): 529
Enormous: (A lot, but 700 originally)
Lunkers: 100

I think these stats are fairly useful as a baseline. Someone with 0 fishing knowledge or experience. I'm sure a lot of you are already way ahead of me if you do want the mount, so 17 hours worst case scenario.

Confirming that fishing as a Highmountain Tauren, their racial ability Waste Not, Want Not can actually proc off fishing up lunkers.
i.e: you can receive 2 lunkers from 1 cast.

Someone wanted to say just to use the 40 gold and that 40 gold was "nothing." Whether 40 gold is "nothing" or not. The mount and its utility was already paid for. By the subscription time paid, by the reputation farming, by the original gold paid and it is repugnant that now we have to re-buy something that was already paid for. It's like going to a restaurant, ordering a burger and paying for it and when you're half way done eating they take your plate away and tell you you have to pay them again to finish your meal. If you don't want to pay again you have to work in the kitchen or leave without what you already paid for. So the amount is a moot point. It's the "we're taking away this thing for ..... reasons" that is outraging. It also makes you wonder what else they plan to take because it no longer suits them. And I was fine with the whole "we're gating flying for new regions so you explore." I get that. We didn't even get flying until level 60 anyway. I just kind of figure it's an evolution of that concept but taking away the water walking ability to make you buy it again is border-line extortion. We have enough gold-sinks with toys, pets, transmog, crafting/professions and collector mounts. This was un-necessary. If they are worried about the strider becoming the Alpha and Omega of all mounts they can just lock it's ability to benefit from other mount equipment. Then it's only benefit is water walking. Like the tundra's benefit is vendors. Or the golem having herb farming. And if they are concerned about people liking it...why? Shouldn't that be a good thing? If you don't like it, don't use it. That's your choice. Don't like others using it? Look away and buy a potion or equipment for your OWN mount! Just because some people think the strider is ugly and they don't like it doesn't mean they should be making that choice for others. Especially when those people took the time, effort and spent their money and gold on it and its ability. I like the wind strider. Other's think it's ugly. I use it almost exclusively. Are they going to take it away? I paid for it in a more direct way but money is money. If they are willing to take one thing you've paid for away, where does it end? There were also already other items that covered water walking. And even class abilities that enabled it. The strider's water walking wasn't the problem. The problem is that after you get it and add it to your mount journal you had it's utility on all your toons FOR "FREE." *Free being for your other toons. You still paid for it as explained aboved.* And as a kicker, I can't even use the 40 gold Nat Pagle token on the character that originally grinded the reputation sicne they are still lvl 95. So my options for that toon are potions, re-roll, or the 45k shoes until level 100. Then I would have to re-buy something I've already bought to have it on that single toon and repeat on into infinity and never be able to equip any other trait or pay for it again and again and again. It's an exploitative void and was shot down 3 years ago and should have remained dead. And if you like mount equipment that's fine, use it, enjoy it. But the water strider should be left alone for all the reasons above.

I just started fishing Nat's Lucky Coin with max Draenor fishing skill and
Hightfish Cap
Dragon Fishing Pole
Sharpened Tuskarr Spear
in Spires of Arak 64.30, 21.93 under the bridge.

I fished by 10 min segments on CD of Sharpened Tuskarr Spear and using Worm Supreme or Sharpened Fish Hook if catched. I made +- 50 casts per 10min.

1. run Sharpened Tuskarr Spear + Worm Supreme = 6 Abyssal Gulper Lunker
2. run Sharpened Tuskarr Spear = 4 Abyssal Gulper Lunker
3. run Sharpened Tuskarr Spear + Sharpened Fish Hook = 3 Abyssal Gulper Lunker
4. run Sharpened Tuskarr Spear + Worm Supreme = 1 Abyssal Gulper Lunker
5. run Sharpened Tuskarr Spear + Worm Supreme = 5 Abyssal Gulper Lunker
6. run Sharpened Tuskarr Spear + Worm Supreme = 4 Abyssal Gulper Lunker

So after 1 hour of fishing i got 23 Abyssal Gulper Lunker ; 1 after 13 casts. Looks like Iam very lucky or drop rate is little higher.
You will be able obtain enough Nat's Lucky Coin to get Crimson Water Strider in up to 5 hours of fishing with this "basic" gear bought from Nat in Mists of Pandaria for gold. Good Luck.

I just finished the whole grind for this mount. I started from complete bottom... 0 Draenor Fishing Skill, No Fishing Shack, 0 Nat Pagle rep.

To obtain this mount you need 100 Nat's Lucky Coins and Best Friend reputation status with Nat Pagle.

To even start this grind you need to upgrade your garrison to Level 3. Then you have to build Level 3 Fishing Shack.
In order to build Level 3 Fishing Shack you have to complete Draenor Angler achievement.

Let's start from the beginning:
It took me around 40min - 1h to get from 0 Draenor Fishing to 100. I've been fishing in Stormshield without any fishing equipment.
After that you want to start doing your Draenor Angler achievement. It requires you to fish 100 enormous type fishes from all WoD zones (except Tanaan Jungle)

Sooo... quick run through this achievement:
Ive been using Dragon Fishing Pole , Worm Supreme bait , and appropriate fishing bait (in depends on type of fish you are currently fishing)
The Worm Supreme bait can be fished from the waters (low drop %) or bought in Auction House, same thing with fish baits.
Some zones are really rich in fish schools, fishing it them guarantee you 3-6 Enormous type fishes. (no need to use baits on them)

Now lets talk about enourmous fishes:

Enormous Sea Scorpion can be caught on Draenor's coast. In my opinion the best spot for them is to fly alongside the coastline of Spires of Arak and look for Fish Schools, they are very frequent.
Enormous Abyssal Gulper Eel from Spires of Arak. Fish schools aren't that common in this area so the best option is to fish them in a river.
Enormous Blind Lake Sturgeon from Shadowmoon Valley. Schools are more common but still preferable way to fish them is from lakes or rivers.
Enormous Blackwater Whiptail from Talador . Schools are very common and you can very quickly get all 100 of them just by fishing in schools. They spawn very frequent, you should be done in less than 1h. Same thing applies for Enormous Fat Sleeper in Nagrand.
Enormous Fire Ammonite from Frostfire Ridge. Its fished from lava pools scattered all around the zone. Surprisingly fish schools are pretty common there. I fished them all by schools just doing circles around the whole zone. But it took me some time, so in my opinion its better to fish in one spot, occasionally doing a flyby around zone and spotting some schools.
Enormous Jawless Skulker from Gorgrond. In this zone i fished around 50 from fish schools, and other 50 just standing and chillin. Schools ain't that frequent in this zone.

After finishing the Achievement and building fishing shack you can start grinding Nat's Lucky Coins for your mount:

To obtain the coins you need to fish ,,Lunkers". They are the rarest type of fishes found in WoD. You want to fish them as close to your Garrison as you can. (You CAN'T fish them in your garrison near your shack, you have to be outside of the garrison)
To fish them i used Dragon Fishing Pole , Worm Supreme bait , and appropriate fishing bait. I am playing in Alliance so i was fishing Blind Lake Sturgeon Lunkers, because they can be fished in Shadowmoon Valley, very close to my garrison.

You exchange the Lunkers for coins and 350 Nat Pagle reputation. That's how you get the reputation for him. Keep in mind that you have to fish more Lunkers if you starting (like i was) from 0 rep. You need to turn around 115/120 lunkers to be ,,Best Friend" with Nat.

Overall:
Its very tedious, but lazy grind. Lunkers takes the longest to fish them all, i've been watching movies while fishing in the background. But in my opinion its worth it because this is a good looking mount that is relatively rare.

Starting this grind. I thought I'd share my +fishing build.
pole=dragon fishing pole (+13 skill)
gloves=enchant (+5 northrend fishing) cause why not
hat= currently using the khaz algar +32 perception wavercloth fishing cap
boots= Anglin' Art's Waders (+5 skill) super easy to get these boots!
lure= Heat-treated Spinning Lure (+10 skill) buy off the AH
fishing line = Rook's Lucky Fishin' Line (+4 skill) looted from a Draenor treasure chest
food= captain rumsey's lager (+5 skill) or trying ghoulfish delight for 150 perception
sharpened tuskarr spear (+5 skill) on a 10 min cooldown
--current +skill=37 (42 when using the spear)

other=reusable oversized bobber+bobber transmog of choice+angler's raft+shaman water walking spell

currently farming to increase my +skill:
BC fishing dailies to try and get +5 skill hat from bag (~1%)
daily kill of Slithon the Last in Eredeth /way #882 48.8 52.4 (15% chance drop for Ancient Fishing Line +6 skill)
Sunday fishing extravaganza: lucky hat (+5 skill), boots of the bay (+10 skill), fishing pole if 1st place(+14skill)
-- I plan on increasing skill by another 12-13 pts. I havent decided weather I will buy the +8 hat for 25 coins or not since that will take away from my 100 coins needed for the mount.

Perception appears to not work on older expansions.
