This is the Nat Pagle you get in your Garrison after getting him as a follower. He sells you items for coins. You can get more info about getting reputation with him or obtaining these coins on my post, here.

Nat's Lucky Coins are currently implemented as a Soulbound item that takes up space in your bags. Their only purpose in-game is to function as a Currency used to purchase items sold by Nat Pagle. So you'll be forced to sacrifice a bag slot for quite a long time, while you fish up hundreds of Lunkers to trade in for one (1) Nat's Lucky Coin each, in order to buy all of Nat's fishing wares.

Please, everyone, submit a support ticket reporting this as an interface-design problem. There is a Currency tab on the character profile screen that should be used for all Currencies. For example, there are several Currencies in the Warlords of Draenor expansion that correctly use the Currency tab for storage instead of taking up bag space. Blizzard simply needs to correct this oversight and and code Nat's Lucky Coins as a Currency instead of a Soulbound item. All Currencies on the Currency tab are effectively Soulbound anyway. Thanks for taking the time to submit a ticket today!

He joins level 3 Fishing Shack after completing The Great Angler Returns. For a short period after turning in this quest, he is standing with his twin brother from Pandaria.

The Nat Pagle in my Fishing Shack suddenly disappeared. He was there this morning when I started out. I sent him on a mission. After that, even though he completed the mission, he remained missing whether I assign him as working or not. Anyone else has encountered something similar before?

After fishing for all the different kinds of lunkers I've found fat sleeper lunkers to have the highest drop rate.

Out of 124 fish caught, 12 were lunkers = ~10% drop rate.

And yes you can indeed now stack more than 5 lunkers!

I fished up a Felmouth Frenzy Lunker right in front of his eyes, and he told me to throw it back in. I suspect this Nat is a fraud...

According to hellreiser's post here, it takes 42,000 friendship to reach best friend with Nat Pagle. Each level takes 8400 rep. Since each lunker provides 350 rep, that's 20 lunkers per level, or 120 lunkers to go from being stranger to bffs. Of course, if you have residual relationships from MoP, you can reduce that number.

If u were working on get all kinds of lunkers for his reputation.
here is what I found.

remember how he loves to talk about the BEER?
that is what u really need

you may need A LOT.

made by cooking, a rare recipe but u can always buy the beer from other people or from AH.

drink it before fishing (better with , ect. and make sure u have baits like )
the beer's buff can not add up with other fishing buffs but the beer lasting time can add up (each one u drink will add 3 more mins)

when Nat Pagle comes, he will ask how is the beer.

Nat Pagle:"any bites yet? I have found that patience (and beer) really helps bring in the big catch"

I got 3 when I loot up to 100 , without any fish schools.

About the other thing he been talking-----"bring a cooler" I think he means , which I do not have so dont know how it may work.

Best location without flying:the water behind Ashran fly master, u got everything u need and even the people who you can throw the +100 fishing skill fish to.

Best locations with flying and fish schools: Nagrand---Telaar.
loot at least 10 with 100.(its hard to loot a bait in the fishing school, i dont know why. so try to fish the bait when there is no school left)

Thought I would share my experience. This method took about 18 hours of total game time to complete including breaks n stuff. If you were more determined than me, you can probably shave several hours off.

Started with 120 demon hunter who had never set foot in WOD content so 0 fish caught here. I do have flying however.
I started with only the underlight angler and vendor fishing lures as fishing buffs.

I began by fishing for the draenor angler achievement to unlock the level 3 fishing hut. You do not have to fish schools but it helps if they are easily accessible.

With flying I found there were ample pools to fish them in Talador, Shadowmoon Valley, and Nagrand as well as the Sea Scorpions which are along the coasts in all zones.
However, the pools were far more infrequent in Gorgrond, Frostfire Ridge, and Spires of Arak. Even with flying I just stayed in one spot and fished for a while.

When you stay in one spot, the strategy is simple if boring and more time consuming than being able to go from pool to pool.
First, find a place where a pool or several pools can spawn if possible.
Second, fish up any available pools. While you are fishing glance at your minimap periodically to ensure you get any new spawns.
Third, when fishing in open water for enormous fish, ensure that you are keeping the appropriate fish's bait applied. You will get the appropriate fish bait within 5 or so casts when you don't already possess one so use liberally. (If you don't get one and don't have one in your bags, check your bank)

Once you have the angler achievement you can purchase the fishing shack blueprint and upgrade to level 3.

Once the upgrade is complete, you have to accept a quest from one of the NPCs at the shack. It might be a trivial quest so may not appear on your minimap.
You can catch the arcane trout at the nearest in-land body of water. Fishing in pools is not necessary.

Then you complete the remainder of the short questline to turn in the arcane trout and get Nat to appear at your garrison.

I actually did not assign Nat to the fishing shack right away when I unlocked him as follower but ensure that you do once he is available.

From here on out you're after lunkers. First there will be a one-time quest for one of each lunker, then repeatable quests for each of the lunker types will become available.
You do need to fish in pools for lunkers.

I had flying but if you don't, I suggest you use a character than has some form of waterwalking or can obtain lots of waterwalking potions. Perhaps druid travel form would be tolerable.

My strategy was to just follow the coastline and fish sea scorpion schools.
I feel like other schools have higher drop rates of lunkers but I also thought that them being harder to locate and the downtime waiting for respawn would make them less efficient than sea scorpion. Basically spending more time traveling and less time actually fishing.
Plus if you are just riding along the coast you don't have to keep checking your map for your location which makes it easier to do something like watch tv or whatever while you do this. It doesn't feel like as much effort.

I completed this on alliance so I would go directly north out of the garrison and head east once I hit the sea coast then go around clockwise. By the time I hit Nagrand, I generally had about 50 lunkers.

Worth noting is that it took me over 125 lunkers to get the rep on night elf with no rep buffs for the mount. So I purchased the hat as soon as I could in an attempt to increase the lunker drop rate.

I'm quite surprised that we are in december 2018 and no one ever took the time to post the achievement required to get Nat into your Garrison.

I don't know about anyone else out there, but Nat sells the Anglers' Water Striders (mount equipment for water walking) in my garrison for 50 gold...not the 42g 50s it shows here. And I am his "Best Friend" the highest rep you can get with ol' Nat. Hummm...may just have to take his beer away! And just an FYI for those of you that are unsure...You can buy the Anglers' Water Striders and send them to your Alts...that is if they are over lvl 20 and on the same account.

12/30/19 Today I decided to equip all my characters with the water walking equipment. Besides my main character, I have 3 others that have a garrison. I got on one of my alts (she has NO rep with Nat yet) and found she could buy the Angler's Water Strider's water walking mount equipment for only 40 gold in her garrison. Odd. Sooo...I check with my other 2 alts, (they both DO have rep with Nat), and in their garrisons, they too, like my main, would have to pay 50 gold. So, I'm wondering... what the heck?
Be sure to check all your alts, with garrisons, before purchasing this mount equipment. You may be able to save a bit of gold! Either way, it's a whole lot cheaper than buying the water walking mount equipment from the Auction!
AND...by the way, I did take away Ol' Nat's beer...He is not a happy camper!

If you have Draenor Angler (which required to get/purchase Fishing Shack, Level 3 blueprint) ON ANOTHER CHARACTER you will still need 100 Draenor fishing skill on your alt to receive the quest Luring Nat / Luring Nat which starts the chain to get this follower. This was not anywhere else so I posted it here.

Wanted to type up a guide of my experience on Nat's Lunkers as of Shadowlands patch 9.1

Nat Pagle in this incarnation has 6 friendship tiers
Stranger
Acquaintance
Buddy
Friend
Good Friend
Best Friend

Each friendship level is 8,200 reputation, and each lunker gives 385 reputation per turn in. It takes 22 lurkers for each friend tier. As of patch 9.1 you can carry all 22 lunkers required for each friend tier in your bag at a time (assuming your fishing up the same one as I did) and each Lunker has a less than 2% drop chance (I don't want to say 1% because I feel like fishing items and level play a huge part in this, When I would forget to apply my lures and other fishing items it would take ages to get a lunker until I reapplied everything and started getting them more frequently, so don't forget your lures and lagers!). 1 lunker turn in gives 1 "Nat's Lucky Coin" and the 385 rep and the coins can be used to buy rep based items.

Nat's Drinking Hat - Purchased at "friend" status, it increases your fishing by 8 and has the ability to attach a special lure to your pole increasing your fishing by another 10 for 10 minutes
Cost 25: coins

Draenic Fishing Pole - This pole is purchased at "friend" status and increases your fishing skill by 13, and can also apply a special lure increasing your fishing by 10 for 10 minutes as well. This pole is Alliance only
Cost: 25 coins

Left Shark - Shark pet purchased at "good friend" status
Cost: 50 coins

Sea Calf - Sea calf pet purchased at "stranger" status (couldn't find on him where it said any status of friendship required so I'm assuming it's at stranger but if not please let me know and ill edit)
Cost:50

Angler's Water Strider - Mount equipment that doesn't require a friendship tier, gives your mount the ability to walk on water
Cost 47 Gold 58 Silver

Reins of the Crimson Water Strider - Mount purchased at "best friend" status
Cost 100 coins

Nat's Draenic Fishing Journal - Permanently increase your skill in Draenor fishing by 25 up to a max of 100
Cost 25 coins

All in all, it takes about 110 Lunkers to get all the way to best friend status with this Nat Pagle. When you have reached "best friend" you also receive the famed "Nat's Fishing Chair" in your mailbox as well! it is essentially a mirrored copy of the TCG fishing chair.

As always the level 3 fishing shack is still gated behind the achievement "Draenor Angler" which is still essentially the same, catch 100 enormous fish for each area, which unlocks the blueprints to the level 3 fishing shack. If you have already achieved this on another character and want to get the hat on an alt, this is not required a second time, and as of patch 9.1, you only need Draenor fishing skill level 80 for the quest "Luring Nat" to show up instead of max level like before.

You CAN get lunker's even if you dont have the draenor angler achi completed. Turned a full stash of lunkers in right after completing true draenor angler.
