Artifact Traits and Legendary Effects Returning in Battle for Azeroth

Blizzard

For traits that go beyond simple numerical changes and have their own identity—such as active abilities or the powerful and noticeable procs—we are on the lookout across all specs for a small selection of traits that are worth turning into permanent parts of a class. The bar is high for a trait to become permanent. It’s an intended part of the experience of a system like Artifacts that the bonuses are layered on top of the core functionality of your class. You get to explore those bonuses thoroughly, but eventually, move on from them. That leaves space in the permanent classes for new special bonuses from other systems in the future, as we’ll soon be exploring with Azerite Armor. That said, various specs will likely see one or two familiar traits from Artifacts showing up in their talent trees in Battle for Azeroth.

The effect from Skullflower's Haemostasis is now the talent Hemostasis.

Vampiric Aura leech effect and Unending Thirst likely inspired the new talent Voracious.

The artifact trait Rattling Bones likely inspired the new azerite power Bones of the Damned.

The artifact trait Sindragosa's Fury is returning as the new talent Frostwyrm's Fury.

The cooldown reduction from the legendary Consort's Cold Core has been partially incorporated into Frostwyrm's Fury.

Cold Heart effect became the new talent Cold Heart and likely inspired the new effect from Inexorable Assault.

The main artifact ability Apocalypse was converted to a baseline specialization ability Apocalypse.

Double Doom became the new talent Harbinger of Doom.

The artifact trait Portal to the Underworld likely inspired the azerite power Horrid Experimentation.

Demon Hunter

The Legendary Anger of the Half-Giants became the new talent Insatiable Hunger.

The artifact trait Overwhelming Power was incorporated into Chaos Nova.

The artifact trait Wide Eyes was incorporated into Eye Beam which now has a lower cost in BFA.

The artifact trait Feast on the Souls partially became the azerite power Eyes of Rage.

The artifact trait Aldrachi Design was incorporated into Demon Spikes.

The artifact trait Fueled by Pain was turned into the talent Gluttony.

The artifact trait Fiery Demise was buffed and turned into the talent Charred Flesh.

Druid

The main artifact ability New Moon is now the talent New Moon.

Lady and the Child effect became the new talent Twin Moons.

The artifact trait Sunblind had its effect partially added to Improved Sunfire.

The artifact trait Echoing Stars likely inspired the azerite power Lunar Shrapnel.

The main artifact ability Ashamane's Frenzy was changed and now is the talent Feral Frenzy.

The Wildshaper's Clutch effect is likely inspired the new azerite powers Blood Mist and Gushing Lacerations.

Skysec's Hold effect was improved and became the new effect for Frenzied Regeneration.

The main artifact ability Essence of G'Hanir had its effects baked into the Flourish talent, which had its cooldown increased to 1m30 to accommodate that buff.

The Dark Titan's Advice second effect likely inspired the talent Photosynthesis.

Hunter

The legendary Qa'pla, Eredun War Order likely inspired the new effect on Cobra Shot

The artifact trait Hati's Bond likely inspired the new talent Animal Companion.

Slithering Serpents had its effects partially baked in Cobra Shot.

The artifact trait Healing Shell was buffed has its utility available via Natural Mending, with Exhilaration instead of Aspect of the Turtle as a trigger.

Ullr's Feather Snowshoes likely inspired the new talent Calling the Shots.

The artifact trait Terms of Engagement was turned into the talent Terms of Engagement.

The Survival artifact trait Embrace of the Aspects was turned into the talent Born To Be Wild.

Mage

There's some redundancy in the rogue's section. You've listened the change to Shadow Techniques and Hidden Blades twice. Other than that this is a handy list, thanks for making these!

Some issues with the information in the article:

Unending Thirst covers the entirety of Voracious with no need to mention Vampiric Aura (especially as the two are not very similar).

Dance of Darkness and Eternal Rune Weapon are only tangentially related. Honestly, Eternal Rune Weapon is more like the VDH trait Flaming Soul.

Cooldown reduction via Death Coil was in the talent Shadow Infusion before it was used for Death March, making mention of the helm odd.

Demon Spikes has parry on live so I don't know how Aldrachi Design was "baked in", especially as a flat parry.

As mentioned above in a previous comment, Intact Nazjatar Molting is for Resto Shaman, not Resto Druid.

No real need to mention the sources for Born to be Wild separately.

As mentioned in a previous comment, Hidden Blades is Assassination only and does not need to be included in the Rogue general.

Similarly, Subtlety has the same point twice.

Eye of the Twisting Nether inspiring Unlimited Power seems like a stretch only Mr. Fantastic could accomplish.

Wowhead stop writing nonsense plz...
Eye of the twisting nether and Unlimited overload have nothing in common.
Queen Ascendant and Flash flood share a 20% spell casting decrease but they are not triggered the same way at all, and because they don't have animations, this is once again so far fetched!
And Nature's guardian already existed before Legion, it is just a come back! If anything it is the other way around, Nature's guardian inspired Shamanistic healing...

Get someone that has actually played the class to make list like those!

Looks like this was rather poorly researched.

Starlord is also completely wrong. It's the T20 4 piece bonus Item - Druid T20 Balance 4P Bonus, not Moon and Stars.

Note how the 4piece is exactly the same effect with different tuning.

Might want to reword the Frenzied Regen line to say it was revamped. Skysec's just let you heal for a stupid amount more, never only for a flat amount.

The Vengeance listings are wrong.

Demon Spikes gives Parry on Live, unless you're meaning the different value.
Fiery Demise was actually significantly nerfed as it gives 10% per rank on Live, whereas the talent only gives 20% ever.

It's nice that Warlocks are getting a load of new animations and such (when it should've happened when the other classes got their's) but it's a little sad we get next to nothing from Legion Artifacts abilities, Traits and Legendaries.

Going to miss skydiving on my sub rogue instead of landing :c Thought I have to laugh at the though of how many other sub rogues are going to go skydiving this evening not knowing they've lost the immunity to fall damage.

Balance Druid Leggo Lady and the Child does NOT copy anything. Having it equip does not duplicate the moon beam anymore. I currently have it on and one moon beam is one moon beam....
