Druidsshapeshifting

Restoration: Healing tree: Incarnation: Tree of Life is no longer a passive shapeshift, but a cooldown similar to Metamorphosis.

Feral (Cat): The rogue-like Cat Form is capable of significant melee DPS.

Guardian (Bear): The mighty Bear Form is a tanking-oriented form which provides additional armor and health and grants access to an arsenal of threat-building and damage mitigation abilities.
Balance: Ranged damage-dealing counterparts, "boomkins," learn Moonkin Form, increasing their armor and granting a spell haste aura to their allies.

Druids learn their different forms through questing or training. Some shapeshifts are only learned via talents.

There are some shapeshifts that all druids can learn. Bear Form, Travel Form, and Cat Form.Travel Form now includes spells like Aquatic Form and the flight forms.

Druids even have their own flying travel form. Flight Form can be trained at level 60 as well as Swift Flight Form at level 70 for which the player will need to have trained Artisan Riding.

Druids have their own, class-specific teleport ability that allows them to travel to and from Moonglade, which is handy when needing to train!

Back in time, in the beginning of WoW, druids were in a very dark spot. We were the black sheep of the game. Because we could be everything, we were good at nothing (beside mark of the wild and innervate buff). In TBC, it got better, and our feral forms were finally good (but still under other class). When WotLK launched and Blizzard mentality finally changed, they made us (and every hybrid class) finally equal to other "pure" class, when they realized that even if we could do everything, we could not do it all at sametime (because we could not switch gears during combat and talents were not in the appropriate tree anyway).

The Druid is the class with the least playable races.
Coming Cataclysm, two new races will be added.
The playable Druid races are:
Night Elf (Alliance): The First Druid was Malfurion, taught by Cenarius. More Night Elves were trained as Druids after the Great Sundering, caused by the misuse of Arcane magics. After the Highborne got exiled, the Night Elves adopted the Druidic magics to find a more reliable and safer magical source.
Worgen (Alliance)(Cataclysm): The Night Elves were the first to come to help the Gilneans, and it's said the Worgen Curse could be druidic in nature. After joining the Alliance, the Night Elves decided to teach Druidism to the Gilneas Humans to help them control their curse and Worgen already possess the ability to shapeshift between their human and worgen forms, so shapeshifting into additional forms may come more easily to the species.
Tauren (Horde): According to the tauren lore, Cenarius instructed them first in druidism, as recounted in their myth Forestlord and the First Druids. It was in fact Malfurion Stormrage who was the first mortal druid, and Cenarius' greatest student. Hamuul Runetotem was the first Tauren Druid, instructed by Malfurion, who eventually joined the Cenarion Circle and became the Archdruid of the Tauren Race.
Troll (Horde)(Cataclysm):
They most likely learned druidism from the tauren of Thunder Bluff, since they have the knowledge and are among the Horde already. Given the trolls only fairly recently joined the Horde, the path to learning the ways of the druid would have taken time, apparently more time than shamanism. Also, the Trolls worship Animal Gods (named Loas), so they could get their druidic powers from them.

When dpsing as a feral druid, keep in mind you don't -have- to get 5 combo points before using a finisher. This is a very common mistake made by druids who have just recently reached max level. Although 5 combo points do have an increased effect over 4 combo points, finishing moves arn't the most important part of your arsenal.

Simplified damage rotation:

At the start of a fight:

1. Always start a fight in prowl
1a. If you have Glyph of Savagery, use Savage Roar
2. Pounce OR Ravage (depending on your crit chance, see below)
3. Shred (or Mangle if you can't)
4. Generate 3-4 combo points
5. Savage roar
6. Pop your cooldowns (Berserk, Force of Nature, Incarnation, Nature's Vigil, Trinkets)
7. Rake
8. Spam Shred until you have 5 combo points
9. Rip
10. Spam shred until you have 5 combo points
11. Ferocious Bite
12. Repeat points 10 and 11 until Berserk wears off.

During a fight:

1. You will be using shred as your primary combo point generator.
2. Make sure Savage Roar is up -first- and refresh it when it has less than 10 seconds left.
3. Your generic rotation will be: generate 2-3 combo points, Savage Roar; generate 4-5 combo points, Rip; generate 4-5 combo points, Ferocious Bite. Rinse and repeat.
4. If you're low on energy and need energy -right now-, use Tiger's Fury.
5. Refresh rake immediately after it falls off, but be careful not to clip it (see below).

General druid tips:

- In cat form, the higher your agility, the higher your attack power.
- You'll want to get as close as you possibly can to the crit cap. Cat druids rely heavily on crits in their rotation.
- Never "clip" a bleed effect. "Clipping" means refreshing a DoT (such as Rip or Rake) before it has dropped off, which means it won't be doing as much damage as it can be doing.
- 50% of the time, a cat druid should be pooling energy.
- If you're at 100 energy, you are losing dps, as that energy could be used.
- Ravage does more damage than Pounce as an opener only if it crits.

If you can handle them up to 40ish, a Druid is a great class to play as your first class, since you have access to all four roles, you can easily learn what you really want to play, a tank, a melee, a ranged, a healer, and then move on to a class that's more specialized in that role.

Or you can keep on going. Nothing beats bein' able to change your mind on what you wanna do at the drop of a hat and not make a new character.

As soon as i play from vanilla i think i can leave a comment here...Well druid was my first char and you really got to believe me in Pre-tbc a feral druid could own anything in PvP, in bear form we did extremly high dps and with a healing touch the life was full again. Then tbc came and i think it ruined a bit druids...druids sucked as healers sucked as dps they were only good as tanks due to high Hp. But when Wotlk came everything was equal,(But i agree with everyone who says that it ruined the game) all the classes we as easy as a piece of cake and the only thing mattered was gear(which you could take really easily). Hope cataclysm makes again the game better.

I recommend for all boss fights to use SWIFT Flight Form! No crappy Flight Form. My rotation is jump in eyes and tear them out. One hit Saurfang 25H.

Actually i do believe that the tree form in a Metamorphasis(Warlock- Demonology tree) like spell is an improvement. Now while i do love to be a dieing treant 24/7, the actual theorycrafting look aims towards the new ToL. Instant regrowth alone make it the most jaw-dropping spell possible for rapid healing on the whole raid. Seond we can blanket with Lifebloom again, since the 4.0.1 made it one target only. 3rd, Wild growth is usually my best or 2nd best healing spell in icc 10/25, so making add 2 more targets plus the one from my glyph makes this talent outweigh looking like a tree at all times.

On a side note, Resto T11 gear looks amazing and we'll actually be able to see it except for 30 seconds during a boss fight or screw up.

Also note for resto druids, since healing touch and nourish have the same cast time :(( no more spamming tanks to full of nourish) and the only difference is amount healed and 1k mana, i believe low geared 80s definitly need to use nourish for mana rescrictions. I now use healing touch which is a very viable healing spell now, at around 33k mana and don't have problems unless other healers just suck and im doing 47.5% of the healing :( on Sindragosa......

EDIT: I also neglected to say some tank healing resto prefer Nourish due to its extra healing(6% extra from each lifebloom, rejuv,regrowth and wild growth). This makes it very nice for tank healing as you should have all these HoTs on at all times (except Sindragosa and low boss damage- high coordination fights) unlessyou jsut swiftmended the rejuv/regrowth off because for some reason you choose not to glyph it to were the Swiftmend doesn't use up a HoT.

Why cant gnomes be druids? let me tell you; Blizzard wants to spare gnomes being laughed at by other races because:

- Gnome cat form would be a kitten.

- Gnome bear form would be a teddy bear.

- Gnome tree form would be a flower.

- Gnome flight form would be a pidgey.

ROFL! Gnome druids : ) I'm smiling in my mind just thinking about it. Unfortunately, I think adding trolls and worgen to the list of druid combos is going to be about it. No other race would make sense lore wise. If they ever were to add a new race though gnomes would be the funniest and since they can now be priests, why the hell not? I think they would make everyone smile : )

"to and from" is incorrect; you can teleport there, but this spell does not teleport you out as of Cata.

Seeing Forsaken use the druid class would be really awesome...but as in regards to them being hurt by the light...uhm..wasn't there a boss in Naxx that could use the light? (sorry, never did much raiding, but did around old school AQ40 twice, ToC, and that one raid where you get the Jenkin's title, but sadly, the leader took us into the wrong raid after that.)

Forsaken could be the Welcome Bear in bear form, a fel tiger in cat form...possible some undead shark for aquatic...would say a withered tree form, like the treeant in Ghostlands, but sadly that form is gone...but flight form, I'm not sure seeing how Trolls got the bat form.

Do druids have some connection with wind? They get hurricane, cyclone, and typhoon. Also when you accept one of the last quests in Aldrassil (Night Elf starting area) the druid at the top, Tenaron STORMgrip casts a slow fall spell on you called Wind's Embrace. Plus one of the most powerful druids is named Malfurion STORMrage and he is in darkshore maintaining a tornado.

Leveling a Druid is best done as a Feral Tank. You gain the flexibility to hop between a tank and dps role with ease until the high 70's/lower 80's. Questing is easily done, as you are a stealth class and capable of sneaking through just about anything. Soloing quest mobs is also great due to your ability to turn into a bear and maintain defenses while your bleeds tick away on your target. In addition to this, your queues will be instant, and people on your realm will line up to get instant queues with you.

Balance Druids and Restoration Druids also have the disadvantage of having to equip cloth at lower levels, until Blizzard began inserting more intellect/spirit heavy gear at the higher levels.

In terms of why you should roll a druid; You play one of the most versatile and reliable classes in the game. Druids have and always will put out great heals. Druids have and always will be able to ranged/melee damage competently and push numbers. They WILL always have use in raids, in heroics, in regulars, and in quests.

Even as a jack of all trades druids still have their unique advantages.

Moonkin: Moonkin sit in the very center of all casters, the DoTs of a warlock, the heavy hits of a mage, and the crits and high speed of a shaman. Their issue? Very little balance specific utility, burn them down fast or they're having chicken wings for dinner.

Tree: The resto druid is unparallelled for mobile healing. It is their specialty to heal entire groups while running in circles and waving their arms around like lunatics. Perhaps their only flaw is mana efficiency.

Cat: Yes, you are a cat. Sleek. Stealthy. Precise. And tender, your pelt is very soft and makes a nice rug. Cats cant take much damage but have their edges over rogues in places too. Their mobility is top of the line, no other class can even hope to keep up with cats, despite their brutal nerf to powershifting. Despite the ugly harshness of taking away one of the very things cats were built upon cats have another advantage, bleed damage. Cats can put out ferocious amounts of bleeding, then vanish, leaving their targets trying to figure out what just happened before dropping over. Rogues can't just vanish out of bleeds, and mages look hilarious trying to run away before keeling over as well. Cats are also all physical, this used to be a good thing in WotLK where ArP and hysteria were your friend. Now armor is the enemy and you have to work past it.

Bear: Bears are meat shields, there's no real getting around it. They have high dodge, a function that allows them to form a shield out of their damage, and all oncoming attacks just seem to gravitate towards their face(pay attention to where the arrows end up, I'm not kidding.) Bears are very simple, yet their tools are also lacking in that very regard. They have plenty of panic buttons but threat can sometimes be an issue. Swipe is no longer alone as thrash has come along to help bring the bleeding, and lacerate is now consumed by pulverize(a talent ability that in my opinion has a very lacking supporting function, we don't need more crit, but functions otherwise.)

Know your specc, your not just a caster, a healer, a rogue and a warrior, druids have their own goodies as well.

I think Resto druids are the hardest to heal with of all classes. If you dont know how to heal with them you are screwd. But healers like priests are to OP with ther shields and palas are to OP wit their OP healing:P

The best way to heal as a Druid is like this:

A new mastery replacing our previous mastery bonus, that changes how we heal (will be described in multiple sections of the guide, as it impacts basically everything we do!). The change to mastery has a HUGE impact on how we heal, and so I highly recommend you take the time to learn how the new mastery works (and stop using a 4.1 “hot-chasing” healing strategy which is no longer beneficial at all). Please note that the calculation of a HOT is based on the spell power value when you first cast it, and HOT ticks do NOT dynamically update after you cast the HOT. In addition, the buff of Harmony is applied as a buff to you, and you no longer need to “chase HOTs”.
Critical Healing buff – Heals will now hit even harder when we crit (ie. increased from 150% of non-crit heals to 200% of non-crit heals), will be addressed in the stats & gearing section, but Crit will still be our weakest stat, since crit is less reliable than our other stats.
Innervate now grants an ally target 5% of his or her maximum mana over 10 seconds, but still grants 20% of the druid’s maximum mana over 10 seconds when self-cast (meaning that innervate should now always be used on ourselves, and you should drop the innervate glyph in favor of… anything else). Will be addressed in Healing Part 2 and glyph sections.
The buff from Omen of Clarity stays active a little bit longer.

Resto Glyphs:
Prime Glyphs:
Swiftmend -when you use swiftmend, it won’t consume the HOT.
Rejuvenation – increases rejuv’s healing done
Lifebloom – increases LB’s HOT crit chance
Regrowth – This got buffed in 4.0.6, but it’s still not better than the other 3 glyphs in general. It has specific situational uses in some boss fights.

Major Glyphs:
Wild Growth – WG will hit 1 more person. Very helpful for 25-man raiding.
Rebirth – Your target will res at full health & mana. This becomes really useful compared to other options so your target doesn’t die as soon as they pop up.
Healing touch – Casting HT reduces the cooldown on Nature’s Swiftness. Skip if you didn’t learn nature’s swiftness.
Innervate – This one gets devalued in 4.2 since it sucks to cast Innervate on other people now. This leaves us without a good option for a third major glyph.

Minor Glyphs:
Mark of the wild (minor) – reduces the mana cost of mark of the wild.
Unburdened rebirth (Minor) –Rebirth doesn’t cost a reagent (it sucks when you run out of seeds).
Glyph of the treant (minor) – changes the appearance of your tree form back into the dead broccoli old form, instead of the larger and newer “ancient of war” form. I’d actually glyph tree form for PvP to make the model smaller & less obvious.
Aquatic form (minor) -Increases swim speed by 50%
Dash – (minor) reduces dash cooldown

The coolist thing I ever did with a druid was this:
I was playing as my lvl 39 Freal Combat Druid in a WG battleground (Alliance Side). There was a horde warlock right on the edge of the roof blasting all the people with shadow bolt. Apperently, it is possible to use Feral Charge: Cat to jump up all the way to the roof and kill a enemy because I did just that! :D

I absolutely love using my Balance Druid in PvE, makes questing a breeze with bursts of damage, AoEs(Area of Effects), and strong enemy stuns. One of my best Balance specialization rotations could be more or less be; Wrath x3-5, Starfirex1-2, Starsurge, Moonfirex3-5 *Hopefully having , haste build, and /Shooting Stars*, , using Starsurge if Shooting Stars procs. Rest is up to you, if you can use , Wild Mushroom/, Force of Nature, Solar Beam, or Starfall-- it's up to you on those, whether it benefits you in those encounters. My Druid's statistics build may be different and damage outcomes may vary.

TL ; DR Try testing out your rotation, try to find your right kind of damage, and see what pulls off your kills in whatever fashion you need to.

Just to mention to you all, that's just my rotation of skills, please don't downrate me or tell me it sucks, it works for me. It might depend on the timing of the rotation, and the rate in which you can use specific skills along with talent effects/statistic effects.It may not work as well in PvP without haste, as you may not have enough time to dump the damage, but if it works, it works. Used that for a long time in PvE, and of course still have those kinks to work out.

Note: This was basically posted and then updated patches 4.2.0 to 4.3.0. Yes, some information may be incorrect, unfit, or not applicable to new mechanics and formats Blizzard releases. I don't mind downrates, or rather uprates, just your opinion on this matter is all.

As of 5.2 (Mists of Pandaria) and some points in between, it has become very clear that the Balance specialization is a MUST for P.v.E, if not Guardian (tank druid specialization). With multi-target damaging power, I can blow mobs clear out of the water with burst Area-of-Affect damage, or simple tab'n'spam spells.

Has anyone noticed that Solar and Lunar Eclipse are inaccurately named? Assuming that the idea is that Nature attacks (Wrath, insect swarm) draw power from the sun, and arcane attacks (moonfire, starfire) draw power from the non-local celestial bodies, shouldn't the names of the two effects be switched? A solar eclipse is when the sun is blocked by the moon, making the stars shine brighter (or seem to), and a lunar eclipse is when the earth blocks out the moon, so shouldn't "Solar Eclipse" power arcane, and "Lunar eclipse" power nature?

I've aways had some great ideas (according to friends) for the druid forms. I don't mean ridiculous things like a GORILLA bear form or WOLF cat form, because, well, the form is traditionally a cat and a bear. It just wouldn't make sense. Here are my ideas on the forms which aren't currently effected visibly by races:

EDIT: I made this post a while ago, and we have stag travel form now, and the Orca glyph for Aquatic form. Still, some of these ideas could be found interesting.

Travel form:
Night Elf - A stag of some kind (given the icon of travel form) with dark colourings, maybe black, with green druidic symbols on the fur and Elven trinkets around the ears, neck and antlers. Similar to the stags of Ashenvale.
Tauren - The old model. The cheetah suits the wild plains the tauren live in.
Troll - A raptor of some kind, possibly blue scales, tusks, and voodoo charms around the claws and neck to show troll biology.
Worgen - A wolf? Like i said above, Cat form is supposed to be a Cat, but the travelling forms don't really restrict to certain species.

Aquatic Form:
Night Elf - The current model. The yellow eyes and purple pointed ears show Night Elven origin.
Tauren - Maybe something similar to the Night Elven form, exept with horns, bovine ears, peaceful eyes and a more burly shape.
Troll - A tropical Shark! With blue scales and maybe small tusks to show Troll origins, it would suit the Troll homeland.
Worgen - Again, similar to the Night Elven form, but with a more feral face, wolf ears, and a ferocious feel.

Moonkin Form:
Night Elf - Current Model.
Tauren - Current Model.
Troll - I'm sure i wasn't the only one disappointed by the boring recolour of the Night Elf moonkin for Trolls. It could be blue or green tinted, with tusks, tribal charms and trinkets, with a mowhawk! It's so obvious!
Worgen - Again, A boring recolour of the Night Elf Form :( it could still be grey and dark coloured, but with more of a Barn owl appearance, with a more rounded face but still a feral feel. No silly antlers!

Druids are my 1st first favorite class, cause I can be anything its like I'm all classes in one, kinda.... I like it. Just I wish resto/balance had more defensive spells (ie: divine shield, power word : shield, ect.)

I used to play Feral combat dps but i was thinking oh thats hard to get dps if i am running like in the fight valiona and theralion so... i changed to tank so it wasnt that needed that i had about 16k to do a raid.

as far as I know, bears are tanks with high stamina and armor ... but they keep lowering our HP, and reducing threat and damage :(

The main reason I ever use Bear or Cat Form in the Balance tree is if I'm out of mana, a priest is trying to "mana burn" me, or if I'm running Molten Core and need to kill the boss that has magic resistance, I forget his name but he is near Baron Geddon, a fire elemental.
As of 5.1 with the release of Balance and Restoration druids getting the 'Killer Instincts' passive effect, these 2 melee forms are amazing for single target extra Damage over Times and the like.

Well as of Mists of Pandaria and the introduction of the Killer Instincts passive, I can now solo Pandaren-rank elites on bear form as a Restoration Druid. Thanks, Intellect-->Agility! Finally worth my while!

Druids are the do all and everything class. Like being the tank use feral forms. Like being damage dealer use boomkin. Like being healer use tree of life and all the healing spells you get with any spec.
I have a druid and its really fun to be fighting solo and not die as easily as other classes that cant get away fast enough or cant heal themselves at the same time.
The only thing i dont like about druids is that there are only 4 races that can be druids. For the Alliance: Night Elves and Worgens (added in cata). For the Hord: Taurens and Trolls.
None of the racial abilities affect game play but its good to look at them. Night Elves are less likely to be hit by physical attacks and nature spells also they have shadowmeld that cancels spells shot at them. Trolls' berserking increases attack and casting speed. Finaly, Taurens' endurance increases health by 5% and are less likely to be hit by a nature spell. Also taurens have war stomp wich stuns all nearby enemies.

Druid ImO are one of the best as thay have all the roles u can play aswell there are many ways to play them aka
- melee ( tank / dps ) it simila to playing a warrior and a rogue im the kitty all the time :) cuz thay r just fun to play.
- caster (healer /dps (R) one of the best healing classes in the game <3 ive played since TBC started and ive never stop healing (mainly cuz i proffer HoT (heal over time) as u can heal slowly but over time it a large about :) and as a range dps go's i not a fan i use to like it in WoTlK but after that it got harder and harder but if that what u want to play 2 good things from it it one of the best druid roles to play in PvE aswell who doesn't like ther boooooomkin form come it big fluffy teddy bear is cool :)

My favorite thing to do on my night elf balance druid is sit up at the lumber mill in Arathi basin, Shadowmeld a short distance from the flag and typhoon the poor unlucky saps that try and take my flag. I love being a druid!

My main is a druid and has been for about 3-4 years. I love playing druids due to their versitility ( no idea how thats spelled) and all the shapeshifting is just awsome, Jack of all trades kinda class. The only down side is the fact that druids dnt have many classes to chose from. Why is this? Just think of a cool gnome druid or pandaren would we awsome. Pandarens are all about the connection with nature hippy, tree-hugging bull**** so why not give em the chance to be droods?

Which race you ask?

First look at the factions, if your friends are in the Alliance forget about the Horde, and viceversa, you surely want to play with them.

Second consider the looks, doesn't matter if you have the most overpowered racials (this is relative) if you hate looking at your character every minute you spend playing.

Third, the lore, trolls and worgen don't have much background yet, being the two most recent races to develop druidism, but that might be something good. Do you know how many times Malfurion has "saved" the world by blowing up everything in his path? Or that tauren are at the same time the least judgemental and least innovative of the races just doing whatever the night elves do?

Fourth, the racials.

Night Elves
Quickness: 2% less chance to be hit, there is no other way to get this stat. Excellent for bear form as our only avoidance stat is dodge.
Shadowmeld: Instant stealth that gets you out of combat, does not cancel shapeshift forms. Excellent for cat, it counts as a prowl which means you can use an opener mid-fight. Also good for arena regardless of spec to quickly get out of combat and drink. This was very good pre cataclysm when there was world pvp as it allowed the elusive shadowmeld+flight form to flee from almost anything.
Elusiveness: 5% faster movement speed while prowling, you will barely notice this
Nature resistance: Irrelevant, our mark of the wild overwrites it.
Wisp Spirit: You move 75% faster while dead, nice perk while leveling but of little use for end game.

Designers use the human models to create the gear, since night elves are just larger humans, they usually look the best. The aquatic form for all druids is noticeably designed for night elves.

Night elves are overall better as cat or bear.

Tauren

Endurance: ~4000k hp at level 85. Not as good as Quickness but still the equivalent of 2x epic stamina gems, not too shabby.
War Stomp: .5 second cast time for an aoe stun of up to 5 enemies, breaks prowl, does not cancel shapeshift form. Very good for casters if your personal space gets invaded by rogues/warriors/dks.
Nature resistance: Irrelevant, our mark of the wild overwrites it.
Cultivation: Increased Herbalism level, but the best part is that you gather herbs in .5 seconds. Tauren druid are the fastest farmers in the game as you do not have to break flight form to gather herbs. Irrelevant if you take other professions.

Tauren are the largest playable race, their bear and moonkin forms are also larger than any of the other races, their mounts are also much larger. Their gear is larger and thus you can notice more details than you probably wouldn't with the other races. They also have a unique horned moonkin form, while the other 3 races use a recolored version of the antlered mobs.

Tauren's defensive abilities fit restoration and bear druids better.

Worgen
Viciousness: 1% flat crit. This is great regardless of what you do.
Darkflight: 40% increased movement speed for 10 seconds. Does not break prowl, does not cancel shapeshift form. Does not stack with Dash or Savage Roar, stacks with travel form and feral swiftness. Restoration druids will probably make better use of it as disentanglement+powershifting will prevent any form of ensnare.
Aberration: Increases shadow and nature resistance. Irrelevant, our mark of the wild overwrites it.
Flayer: Increased skinning level, you skin in .5 seconds. Great perk if you play bear, round up a bunch of animals, aoe them and skin them in seconds.

Worgen have running wild which looks pretty cool from a druid perspective, you are an animal, why would you need to mount one? You can also show off your gear in stromwind in human form.

The ability to move as fast as your travel form while throwing hots or dots makes Worgen better for caster roles.

Troll
Regeneration: Has long been the joke of all racials, but did you know that in the course of a 4 minute combat the total ammount of health healed is larger than that of Endurance? And unlike Quickness we make use of it even if we are not tanking. With the average boss fight lasting anywhere from 5-10 minutes, and battlegrounds from 15-25, I dare you to laugh again.
Berserker: 20% increased casting/attack speed for 10 seconds, this is an amazing ability. The downside is that it has the longest cd of all racials (along with draenei). But if timed properly this can be an incredible damage boost.
Beast slaying: 5% more damage against beasts, some bosses are beasts in pve but it's rather uncommon. PvP wise this only works against druids in cat or bear form. But of course you wouldn't hurt your brothers right?
Bow/throw Specialization: 1% crit with the respective weapon. We cannot use either.
Da Vodoo Shuffle: Ensnares and slows last 15% less, shapeshifting removes any type of slow (and ensnares if you are resto spec), you will see little use to this.

Trolls also have a unique flight form, they turn into bats unlike the other 3 races which are stormcrows. Their shapeshift forms are also much more bright colored. In contrast with the more dark & sober tones that other races have.

Moonkin or cat druids will find the most use out of the offensive-oriented trolls.

Ok i know a lot of people think it is hard if not impossible to do but if you spec the right way in your talent tree as feral and carry 2 sets of armor you can tank and dps without ever having to switch your specs, As well as healing and ranged dps. It would be really hard as heals and ranged dps but it would be most definitely possible for a feral druid to tank and dps in the same talent tree.

IMO Druids are the best class when it comes to taking heavy damage. Bear form in patch 4.3.3 is way over powered (if you are not a druid) Going from 148k hp to nearly 200k is quite impressive but they also gain other effects such as immune to polymorphs can not be frozen and Fear immunity. Not to mention the massive defense gain. All in all druids make really good tanks. they are rough at lvl 15 which is when you gain bear form but once you have gotten some gear i prefer a feral druid over a Prot pally any day.

i have a question for ya'll druids. i'm lvl 33 with no dps to speek of, what do i do to increase dps? i am aware of needing stamina and agility so i keep armor that has both but what else should i be looking for? oldjugger, It seems that you are keeping the right gear although that is important it is not the only aspect of dps. Especially when it comes to Druids. Maybe try switching up your rotations or even trying Boomkin. But if you want to stick with Feral just try switching up your rotation a bit. See what that does for you. If that doesn't help maybe a druid class just inst for you. That's not a bad thing just means you should play around with other classes a little.

I am a 68 Worgen feral/bal druid (although feral is the spec i always use) and I have a few tips for pvp feral druids.

-Stack up on Agility and if that's not available use Strength.
-If you have enough honor buy the honor/conquest gear available at 60, 70, 80, 85 and with upcoming MoP 90. Also get a bunch of resil.
-Flight form doesn't work in Bgs, use a mount.

Agility is everything as it offers crit and attack power (Cat form). NEVER shapeshift into bear form as you will lose that AP, and well the pvp spec is definitely feral cat form.

I'm not a very good tip giver am I?

Also I think pandas aren't druids because making all the unique panda druid forms would be too tedious and anyway, who knows what a panda cat would look like? Different colors?

I have to say that, I have drawn ideas of undead druids in cat form and they look pretty cool, I would love undead druids but sadly they probably don't really have any connection with nature, so the lore stuff wouldn't work with them :(

One thing I will say is that I've come to love the Feral and Restoration combo; Feral because you can move around your target and if your in a duel or PvP, you can confuse your subject and mess them up. Restoration because if you're in a dungeon and you were originally a Damage and your healer leaves, then you can switch for the time being and save the day! <3

5.4 Changes
General

Bear Form now increases Stamina contribution from cloth and leather items by 40% (up from 20%).
Cyclone no longer has a 20-second cooldown for Feral Druids.
Faerie Fire now has a duration of 20 seconds while in PvP combat (down from 40 seconds).
now restores mana based on the Druid’s Spirit.
Teleport: Moonglade now returns the Druid to a location near their original departure point when the spell is cast while in the Moonglade area.
Wild Mushroom for Restoration Druids now summons a single mushroom at the friendly target’s location. If the mushroom is recast, the mushroom moves to the new location and retains its accumulated bonus healing.
A single mushroom now heals for as much as what 3 mushrooms combined healed for previously.
The amount of healing stored on a Wild Mushroom is now reduced by Battle Fatigue.

Wrath now deals 10% more damage, but has its mana cost increased by 50%.

Balance

Eclipse now energizes the Druid for 50% of their maximum mana when triggered, up from 35%.
Moonkin Form now increases the Druid's armor by 60%, but no longer reduces all damage taken by 15%.
Shooting Stars now has a reduced chance to activate for each additional target affected by the same spell (Moonfire and Sunfire are tracked separately).
Starfall now deals 10% more damage.
Starfire now deals 10% more damage, but has its mana cost increased by 50%.
Starsurge has its mana cost increased by 50%.

Feral

Predatory Swiftness no longer has a chance to make Cyclone instant, free, and castable in all forms.

Restoration

Genesis is a new Restoration spell learned at level 88. Genesis targets all party or raid members within 60 yards and accelerates the casting Druid's Rejuvenation effects, causing them to heal and expire at 400% of the normal rate. Costs the same amount of mana to cast as Rejuvenation.
Living Seed effects can now stack, up to 50% of the casting Druid's maximum health and will no longer be consumed if the target is already at full health.
Swiftmend's area-of-effect healing effect is now called Wild Mushroom.
is no longer capable of critical strikes, and accumulates overhealing done by Rejuvenation by 100%, down from 150%. Overhealing bonus no longer benefits from Naturalist or Mastery: Harmony.

Talents

Astral Communion now defaults to generating Lunar energy towards a Lunar Eclipse when used after being resurrected or zoning into a new area (used to default to generating Solar energy).
Dream of Cenarius has been completely redesigned to reduce complexity and increase usability, but maintain the spirit of the effects. Benefits now varies by specialization.

Balance: Increases the amount healed by Healing Touch by 20%. Casting Healing Touch increases the damage bonus of the Druid's next Eclipse by 25%.
Feral: Increases the amount healed by Healing Touch by 20%. Casting Healing Touch increases the damage for the Druid's next two melee abilities by 30%.
Guardian: Increases the amount healed by Healing Touch by 20%. Increases the critical strike chance of Mangle (Bear) by 10% and critical strikes of Mangle (Bear) have a 40% chance Healing Touch or Rebirth instant, free, and castable in all forms. Instant cast version of Healing Touch now benefits from Attack Power instead of Spell Power.
Restoration: Causes Wrath to deal 20% more damage and heals a nearby friendly target for 100% of the damage done.

Feral: Treant summoned by the Feral version of this talent now deals less melee damage, but will cast Rake and Entangling Roots instead of Bash.
Guardian: Guardian Druids now gain when their Treant takes damage.

when activated, now also provides a 25% bonus to healing for Restoration Druids.
Mass Entanglement no longer has a limit on the number of targets that could be affected, up from 5.
Nature's Swiftness is no longer a talent, and is now an ability learned by Balance and Restoration Druids at level 30.

New talent: Ysera's Gift. Ysera's Gift replaces Nature's Swiftness, and heals the Druid for 5% of their maximum health every 5 seconds. If the Druid is at full health, it will heal the most injured friendly target nearby instead.

Nature's Vigil when activated, now increases all damage and healing done by 12% (up from 10%), and causes single-target healing spells to trigger an additional heal on a nearby ally for 25% of the amount healed. This is in addition to the existing effect where it damages a nearby enemy target for 25% of the healing done.
Soul of the Forest has been partially redesigned to make it more attractive to Balance, Guardian, and Restoration Druids.

Balance: Wrath, Starfire, and Starsurge casts have a 8% chance to cause the next Astral Communion to grant 100 Lunar Power or Solar Power instead of activating the next Eclipse.
Guardian: Increases Rage generation from Mangle (Bear) by 30% instead of an additional 3 Rage, and this talent now also applies to the Rage generated by Mangle (Bear) when it triggers Primal Fury.
Restoration: Now causes the Druid to gain 100% haste (up from 75%) on their next spell after casting Swiftmend.

Glyphs

Major Glyphs

Charred Glyph will now cause Faerie Fire to interrupt when used on targets that are immune to silence effects.
Charred Glyph now causes Ferocious Bite to heal the Druid for 2% of their maximum health for each 10 Energy used (up from 1%).
Charred Glyph now increases Frenzied Regeneration's cost to 50 Rage (down from increasing Rage cost to 60).
Charred Glyph now causes Innervate to give both the Druid and the target 60% of the normal effect of the spell if it's cast on a target other than the Druid.
Glyph of Lifebloom's effect is now baseline and has been replaced with Charred Glyph.
Charred Glyph increases the healing done by Swiftmend by 20%, causes the Wild Mushroom healing effect to be triggered by Wild Mushroom instead of Swiftmend, and lasts as long as the Wild Mushroom is active.

Charred Glyph now reduces the mana cost of all shapeshifts by 100% (up from 90%).
Charred Glyph now reduces the cooldown of by 45 seconds (up from 30 seconds).
Glyph of Rake now increases the range of by 8 yards (up from 3 yards).
Glyph of Skull Bash now increases the duration of Skull Bash's interrupt by 2 seconds, and increasing the cooldown by 5 seconds (down from a 4 second interrupt and 10 second increase to cooldown).
Glyph of the Moonbeast's effect is now baseline and has been replaced with Glyph of Guided Stars.

Glyph of Guided Stars causes Starfall to only hit targets affected by the Druid's Moonfire or Sunfire.

New Minor Glyphs

Glyph of One with Nature: Grants the Druid the ability to teleport to a random natural location.
Glyph of the Sprouting Mushroom: Allows the Wild Mushroom spell to be placed on the ground instead of underneath a target.

5.3 Changes
General

Mark of the Wild had its mana cost reduced to 5%, down from 10%.
Symbiosis: had its cooldown increased to 90 seconds, up from 60 seconds.
Tranquility now targets 12 raid members (up from 5) each time it heals when used in a 25-player instance. This change also applies to players using the Symbiosis version of Tranquility.

Talents

is no longer on global cooldown and summons a single Treant. The Treant no longer has a control bar, immediately uses its special abilities on the Druid’s current target, and accumulates 1 charge every 20 seconds up to a maximum of 3 charges.

Restoration version of the Treant now casts Swiftmend on the Druid's target when summoned. This version of Swiftmend does not require or consume a heal-over-time effect on the target.

Glyphs

Glyph of Solar Beam have been removed and replaced with Glyph of Omens.
New Glyph: Glyph of Omens: While the Druid is not in a Solar or Lunar Eclipse, the following abilities will generate 10 Solar or Lunar Energy: Entangling Roots, Cyclone, Faerie Fire, Faerie Swarm, Mass Entanglement, Typhoon, Disorienting Roar, Ursol's Vortex, and Mighty Bash.

Balance

Solar Beam is now more responsive when players enter and leave the beam's area-of-effect.

Feral

Savage Roar now increases physical damage done by 40%, up from 30%.

Guardian

is now 33% stronger (2% per point instead of 1.5%).

Restoration

Ironbark now has a cooldown of 60 seconds, down from 2 minutes.
Swiftmend's area-of-effect component now heals injured allies within 10 yards, up from 8 yards.

Druid

Cyclone now has a 20 second cooldown for Feral Druids.
Symbiosis

Shattering Blow now has a 1.5 second cast time to align correctly with the Warrior version of this ability.

Displacer Beast has been redesigned. It now triggers Cat Form and grants 50% increased movement speed for 4 seconds after teleporting, and no longer activates Prowl.
Cenarion Ward now grants 100% increased healing.
Frenzied Regeneration now scales 10% more efficiently with attack power.
Tooth and Claw now scales 10% more efficiently with attack power.
now provides 20% more armor per Mastery rating.
Rejuvenation now costs approximately 9% less mana.
Revive and Mark of the Wild now cost 55% less mana.
Faerie Swarm can now snare more than one target at a time.
Mass Entanglement now has a 30 second cooldown (was 2 minutes).
Typhoon now has a 30 second cooldown (was 20 seconds).
The Treants summoned by now deal more damage and healing, and the tooltip will report the capabilities of these summoned pets.
Soul of the Forest

Balance: Now generates 40 Lunar or Solar energy upon leaving Eclipse.
Feral: Unchanged.
Guardian: Generates 3 additional Rage per Mangle.
Restoration: Now grants 70% Haste on the next spell cast after the Druid casts Swiftmend.

Nature's Vigil now has a 90 second cooldown (was 3 minutes), and now increases damage and healing done by 10% (was 20%).
Wrath damage have been increased by 9%.
Balance

Starfire damage have been increased by 9%.
Starsurge damage have been increased by 9%.
Starfall will no longer strike targets that are affected by crowd control effects.

Guardian

Thick Hide now reduces critical strike chance from all types of attacks made against the Guardian Druid, instead of just melee.

Restoration

Naturalist: This new passive learned at level 10 by Restoration Druids increases all healing done by the Druid by 10%.
Wild Mushrooms will now gain 75% of the overhealing performed by the Druid’s Rejuvenation effects, up to a maximum of 100% of the Druid’s health in bonus healing, and growing larger as they do so. When is cast, this bonus healing will be divided evenly amongst targets in the area of effect.

Balance/Restoration Druid PvP Gloves: Bonus now increases Cyclone duration by 2 seconds (previously increased Cyclone range by 5 yards).
Feral Druid PvP Gloves now also increases the duration of by 1 second.
Feral Druid PvP 2-piece bonus to 15% movement speed while outdoors for Druids in Bear Form, Cat Form, or Travel Form no longer stacks with the Druid talent Feline Swiftness.
Feral Druid PvP 4-piece bonus also causes successful interrupts with Skull Bash to reset the cooldown of .

Mists of Pandaria Changes

New Ability: . This is by far one of the most innovative talents. Creates a symbiotic link which grants the Druid one ability belonging to the target's class, varying by the Druid's specialization. Also grants the target one Druid ability based on their class and combat role. We have a full updated chart in this guide!
Many Druid abilities and talents emphasize shapeshifting out of your obvious form and using a wider variety of abilities. activates Bear Form and is a cooldown any spec can use, for example.
Level 90 talent: . Boosts your stats in your secondary forms.
Level 90 talent: Dream of Cenarius. Damage abilities boost next healing abilities, or vice versa.
Level 90 talent: Nature's Vigil. Increases damage and healing done--single-target heals cause additional AoE damage, and single-target damage heals a nearby target.
Buffs and Debuffs: Stats (Mark of the Wild), Spell Haste (Moonkin Aura), Critical Strike (Leader of the Pack), Weakened Armor (Faerie Fire), Weakened Blows (Thrash, Thrash).

Balance Changes:

New Ability: Astral Communion. Commune with the sun and moon, gaining 25 Lunar or Solar energy every 1 sec for 4 sec. Generates the power type most beneficial to you.
New Ability: Celestial Alignment. Grants you the simultaneous damage benefit of both your Lunar Eclipse and Solar Eclipse, increasing damage done by your Nature and Arcane spells by 15%. In addition, casting Moonfire also applies the the periodic damage effect of Sunfire to your target.
Moonfire and Sunfire are no longer dependent on your Eclipse state.

Feral Changes:

Thrash is now available to Feral druids too.
Tiger's Fury no longer increases maximum energy.
Mangle works a bit differently. It no longer has a bleed debuff. It adds a combo point and applies Infected Wounds.

Guardian Changes:

Savage Defense has been changed a lot. It's now a defensive cooldown that gives you a 45% chance to dodge.
Frenzied Regeneration now instantly converts 60 rage into health, on a 1.5 second cooldown.
Many abilities no longer cost rage, including and Lacerate.

Restoration Changes:

Resto druids now get , an AoE healing spell. Previously, Wild Mushrooms was balance-only in Cataclysm.
New ability: Ironbark. This is the one external cooldown Resto druids have. The target's skin becomes as tough as Ironwood, reducing all damage taken by 20%. Lasts 12 sec.

In my opinion, the most fun class to play. I especially like not having to wait 1.5 seconds to summon my mount like other classes have to. Flight form is insta-cast. If you want to have some great fun in battlegrounds, here is something I do similar to rogues Vanish. First do a Symbiosis with a Paladin so you get their Pally Bubble shield. (this one works if you are a Feral druid) Then when you are in a battleground like AV and there are 40 angry Alliance (or horde) heading right for you on their mounts in the field of strife make sure you start Swiping a few of them to get them off their mounts and attacking you. Predictably, they will jump off their mounts and start attacking you (generally about 5 to 10 of them will attack, while many others will ignore you) Then pop the Pally Bubble shield, King of the jungle and you will be able to Prowl and simply walk away without any bleeds or poisons on you breaking prowl. Its fun to watch them run around for 10 seconds or so looking for you. This tactic slows them down for a few seconds and as we know in AV a few seconds can win you the game.

Also I like using king of the jungle for a quick getaway from pvpers I cant beat. The way to do that is pop King of the jungle, prowl and then click flight form. You have to do it very quick though especially if you have bleeds or poisons on you. Many a times have i gotten away doing this.

ok there needs to be an undead druid there I said it. Some druids had to have died in gilneas b4 getting the worgen curse.all sylvanas has to do is send in her new pets the Valkyrie to there graveyards to find them. And don't say nature wouldn't allow that because did nature have a say in the flame druids?

Here some the racial traits of races and some specs that fit with them:

Troll - Beserking (Increases your casting and attack speed by 20%) Useful for pretty much all specs.

Tauren - Endurance (Increases health by 5%) Useful for Guardian (Tank) druids. War stomp (Stuns enemies for 5 sec) Is useful for CC (Crowd-Control).

Night Elf - Quickness (Reduces the chance melee and spells will hit you by 2%) Good for all specs. Shadowmeld (Granting stealth while stationary) Very useful for pvp.

Worgen - Viciousness (Increases crit chance by 1%) Good for balance, restoration and feral druids. Darkflight (Increases movement speed by 40% for 10 sec) useful for all specs in pvp.

Druids can use Daggers, Fist Weapons, One-Handed Maces, Polearms, Staves and Two-Handed Maces. They cannot dual wield and or use shields.

I've been playing for almost a year and without a doubt, Druid is my favorite class. I started off as a human hunter, and then tried two other classes, including mage and shaman. It was until my friend told me about this class I was hesitant to play because I had already made a night elf (I had a thing back then to try out a different race rather than stick with just one), but then I made her, specced her in Feral and Restoration, and never looked back. She is now my main I use for just about everything, and was also the first character I got both a complete set of armor and transmogs too (still working on it a bit). Oh, and also got to 90 all on my own, questing and dungeons with no heirlooms in a matter of 5 months. I hope to still have many more adventures with her, and I hope to keep having great memories too!

My Thoughts on Druids:

I have tried every spec except for Guardian with Druids and I am not a big fan of Balance or Feral Druids. They can be fun but I tend to lose heart in those early and part of Feral's downfall is its similarity to Rogues. With Balance I tend to not like the eclipse mechanics.

That being said I love Restoration Druids at least at low levels and I am hopeful that my current Restoration Druid will go beyond level 20 once I go beyond a F2P account. As healers go I only like Discipline Priest and Restoration Druids.

It was probably a Druid with flight form.
As forms are instant cast, they can turn to normal, cast at you & turn back into flight form.

I feel like i have never seen moonkins aoe dps be any good Hurricane and Astral Storm mana cost is way to much and they do not generate solar or lunar energy so you cant get any of that mana back and a way to help with that would be to give a cast time and not a channel time more like a shamans Earthquake or to turn Wild Mushroom into something like a hunters Explosive Trap

Druids need something to spread Moonfire and Sunfire at the enemy .... Maybe something prism to split light beams ( a plant perhaps? )

Druid is the only caster that is easy to strike. In several games this class always had a partner to serve as an ally ..... think every speck should have his only companion .

Balance - Star sprite ( beings in the form of stars - in cataclysm appeared in a few instances - air realm )

Feral - Another tiger made of arcane energy and natural

Guardian - Another bear made of arcane and natural energy - thus creating a differential , making the druid tank the only 2 on 1 in the game .
Nature - Trees - Should Win back the ability to stay in shape tree and root ( lose 100 % movement ) to gain some bonus .

THE BIGGEST PROBLEM OF CLASS DRUID is that it governs 3 mystical aspects - NATURE / HOLY / ARCANE but only the " Balance" has a bit of the 3 forms of energy . The MAGE class keeps all sources of energy ( FIRE / ICE / ARCANE ) .

Why the druid needs to lose ARCANE knowledge?

I play WOW since the classic ! I see that the druid class lost ALL differentials.

Practical advantages of a Druid......

* Gathering: you can pick herbs without ever leaving flight form. (I believe this is also true of mining ore, but my Druid doesn't have Mining.) If a bad guy runs up & starts hitting you, just press the space bar to fly straight up in the air until the bad guy gives up & walks away. Almost every quest that involves picking something up can be done in flight form. I used my Druid to go back & do old quests for Loremaster, & she was much faster on many quests since she could swoop down, grab the item, & be gone in less than the time it would take another toon to re-mount.

* Unmounted speed: instant-cast cat form & you'll run down the dungeon hallway faster than the rest of the group. You can be a cat anywhere, including places where you can't mount, like most dungeons.

* Stealth: I have my Stealth glyphed so I have 100% speed while invisible to enemies. Like a Rogue, I can sneak into a dungeon, cave, etc., & as long as I'm careful not to run right through a bad guy, I can complete my quest, wait a few seconds for the Stealth to cooldown, then Stealth back out of there, no muss, no fuss!

* Swimming: never run out of breath again! Just switch to swimming form, let your breath re-set, then go back to the form that you were using for fighting.

* Fall without dying: unless you're in combat, you can switch to flight form mid-air & you won't die. Sometimes I do this on purpose just for fun - I'll jump off a high spot in human or cat form, but switch to flight form halfway down. As long as I don't get hit by a lag spike, I can cheat death.

There seems to be a bug In the TBC dungeon The Escape From Durnholde, where you get tranformed into a Human.
If you go Travel Form, then activate Prowl, you'll end up stealthing in Human form, and you're also able to use cat abilities as a human.

Not sure if it's a bug or what, but I am able to fly as a level 58 druid in both flight form and by a mount. From what I've read on this page it shouldn't be possible until level 60. Plus, I never bought any flight license. Submitted a scrn shot. Going to take advantage of this while I can!

Awesome class, shape-shifting is so awesome! Love the flying mount shape-shift. Also love the seal shape-shift that let's you breath underwater.
Also another good thing about this class is that it can fulfill any role.

I like Druids most, cause they are so versatile...
You can heal, tank and also DPS... So if you get bored later on with your role, you can switch...

Also with herbalism, this class is the best... Cause you can go in fly form and gather herbs without dismounting... You can go FAST!

Hey guys,

When I prepurchased the new expension I chose a balance druid as a character 90 boost.
I have it for over a week or 2 now and i cant really get it right yet, I cast spells as I think I am supposed to do but I do WAY to little damage. It's kind of frustrating because as a result I get kicked out of dungeons and stuff like that.
Is there some sort of routine to cast spells? Anyone who wants to help me out here? :)
