I have already finished 'A righteous Sermon', but Wyrmbane is not giving me the quest 'into hostile territory', anyone knows why?

I couldn't talk to the guy that the quest wanted me to talk to. However, I just jumped on a Gryphon and it took me straight there. :-D Hope it helps

i already have completed the quests Rescue from Town Square and The Demo-gnome but i cant get "into hostile territory". Can anyone help me?

When I talk to Urik he doesn't offer to fly me anywhere. Tried talking to the gryphon rider and same deal. I get the feeling it's because I accidentally hopped on once and then flew back. So just a tip for anyone else, you only get one ride behind enemy lines and then you're stuck walking it.

i had the same problems. When you have completed the 2 quests, and ulrik doesnt wanna offer you a ride, it's probably because you have to jump on the gryph it self.

Says it requires level 72, just accepted the quest at level 71, with about 1/5 of a bar to go before i ding.

Edit: Wowhead fixed it, but why did someone downgrade my comment? Oh well.

just so people get this one straight:

all you need is the quest Into Hostile Territory. there is a set of 4 gryphons to the RIGHT of gryphon master Wells. just click on one to jump onto it, and then off you go! no need to actually TALK to Urik.

1) Into Hostile Territory - report to Report to Duke August Foehammer at Thorson's Post.
2) Steamtank Surprise - destroy 6 plaguewagons and drop the 7th Legion Elite at the Wintergarde Mausoleum.
3) Scattered To The Wind - pick up 8 Wintergarde Munitions
4) The Chain Gun And You - rescue 8 injured 7th Legion soldiers
5) Plunderbeard Must Be Found - find the gnome Plunderbeard in the Mausoleum.
6) Plunderbeard's Journal - find the missing four pages of Plunderbeard's journal
7) Chasing Icestorm: The 7th Legion Front - report to Legion Commander Tyralion at the 7th Legion Front
8) Chasing Icestorm: Thel'zan's Phylactery - retrieve Thel'zan's Phylactery from the frost wyrm Icestorm

There are a few quests you need to do before the first step in Part One but some of them are just bread crumb quests to let you know where to go. Hope this helps.

The quest A Righteous Sermon leads to this quest. You don't always see it available because someone might be in the middle of listening to the sermon. Just sit in the jail and wait till their done.

That is probably why the majority can't get the start of this quest.

Oh, I found out how to get the ride... Just go to one of the Wintergarde Gryphons, and you'll get the Green arrow. Click it and you'll be sent to 89,46.

To get this quest you must complete the following:
First quest chain
1. The Lost Courier (optional)
2. Of Traitors and Treason
3. High Commander Halford Wyrmbane
4. Naxxramas and the Fall of Wintergarde
5. Flight of the Wintergarde Defender
6. Return to the High Commander
7. Rescue from Town Square
8. Find Durkon!
9. The Noble's Crypt
There you find a book which leads to next chain.
1. Secrets of the Scourge
2. Mystery of the Tome
3. Understanding the Language of Death
Last quest:
1. A Righteous Sermon
Second quest chain
First sub-chain (one must complete Flight of the Wintergarde Defender first)
1. The Demo-gnome
2. The Search for Slinkin
3. Leave Nothing to Chance
Second sub-chain (one must complete Flight of the Wintergarde Defender first)
1. The Bleeding Ore
After these are complete, a new quest becomes available:
1. Understanding the Scourge War Machine

With all these quests done, Into Hostile Territory finaly unlocks.

I would just like to say, this line is worth doing at least once. The cutscene you get after the third part in the chain is just...absolutely magnificent. You would be cheating yourself out of real art.

A few notes for this quest chain:

When you reach the step Plunderbeard Must Be Found! it is a good idea to do Breaking Off A Piece at the same time.
When you reach Plunderbeard's Journal you are going to need 4 bag slots for the journal pages. I could not find any vendor in the mausoleum so I had to get back to the keep to make space. That means I had to fight my way into the mausoleum again when I came back.

I think I see where some confusion is coming from. At level 71, Gryphon Commander Urik will have a gray ! over his head, since he also starts The Hills Have Eyes, which is a level 73 quest. Since 'Into Hostile Territory' tells you to talk to him, it can easily seem like it's a pointer quest that you are too low of a level to complete. As others have said, all you need to do is go click on one of the Gryphon's :)

Just a random note. When the gryphon shoots you off and you gain a parachute, if you spam click on the gryphon you can actually get back on and carry on flying. In mid-air the gryphon disappears and you fall to your death though (Unless you can avoid it)

Beware, when the gryphon rider is taking you to the quest area, it is possible to aggro a Reconstructed Frost Wyrm, and it will NOT stop attacking you when you're dropped off. The 7th Legion npcs on the tanks next to the quest ender will aid you in fighting it, but they will not be able to defeat it on their own.

I can not take quest though I have done Rescue from Town Square, The Demo-gnome and Secrets of the Scourge. And I'm lvl 71

In order for you to unlock The Demo-Gnome and The Resuce from Town Square, you must have done Naxxramas and the Fall of Wintergarde. Hope this helps anyone ^.-

interestingly after durkon, finding the book off the human mobs etc, everything came to a sudden end, not sure why, but I believe it to be level based. You need to be 73 for this stupid chain to complete imo, i cant continue it at all.

I was working on loremaster and I couldn't even turn in this quest to start the rest of the chain. However after playing around I discovered it was an add on creating the problem. So, if you can't turn in, check those.

No you don't, I have completed it at L71 on at least 3 alts, including one just now.

If the questline stopped then you didn't do a required quest. Read Corvus's post above carefully, that contains all the quests required to get this one. As well as Durkon and the book, you also need to do the quests in the mine.

As it was mentioned several times, you don't need to speak to Gryphon Commander Urik in order to take the gryphon. You just need to hop on the gryphon behind you.

The white exclamation mark on his head has nothing to do with this quest. It's for The Hills Have Us which you can get at lvl 73, the breadcrumb quest to Grizzly Hills.
