5.4 PTR: Season 14 3D Weapon Models, Vale of Eternal Blossoms and Orgrimmar Zone Changes
After
datamining the 5.4 files
and reading
Blizzard's 5.4 PTR Patch Notes
yesterday, the 5.4 PTR is now playable!
One huge change we noticed when logging on the PTR was that Vale of Eternal Blossoms is radically different. It's been infested by the Sha, with most of the zone drastically changed. The capital cities are still functional, but the Golden Lotus hubs appear to be phased out. All of the water is drained and in its place are sha-touched wildlife (that award Golden Lotus rep when killed) and corpses of Golden Lotus NPCs. In addition, there is a new raid portal at the bottom of a lake, with a summoning stone nearby for "Vale Raid."
Since the time of this post, we've updated our
Golden Lotus Reputation Guide
which documents all of the changes happening in 5.4 and how to get Exalted quickly before the patch!

News Roundup: Titan Runestone Droprates, Flex Raiding Discussion
After the huge news on Thursday that
Flex Raiding
is coming in Patch 5.4, many players understandably had questions about this new feature. which allows players to form a dynamically-scaling raid between 10 and 25 non-pug players and receive loot that's better than LFR. Bashiok and Taepsilum addressed many of these concerns over the weekend:
Flex is intended for players that are interested in getting weekly groups together for fun and some challenge, but who also don't want super-strict raiding requirements.
Unlike Normal modes, you can invite friends from your Real ID and Battle.net tag to Flex raids.
Removing Tier Tokens from flex raids is something that's worth considering, as raiders might feel forced to run LFR, Normal, and Flex at the start of a new tier otherwise for bonuses.
Letting people zone in and clear Flex trash with 8 people is something the devs are considering. This would allow to get raids underway while waiting to fill spots.
While it may be "optimal" to clear flex raids with a certain number of players, or do 10-player normal instead of 12-player Flex, Flex Mode isn't

Vanity Items Guide: Disguises and Character Effects
This weekend's guide covers vanity disguises and character effects! Based on one of our most popular guides from Cataclysm, this guide has been updated to cover all disguises in Mists of Pandaria.
We've also added helpful tables sorting out all vanity effects, breaking them down into categories like all Alliance-themed disguises, or grouping together all effects that share a particular color.
Playable Races
: Learn how to make your character look like any race in WoW.
Non-Playable Races
: Beasts, Critters, Dragons, and Humanoids from Murlocs to Mogu.
Character Effects
: This section covers items that keep a player's basic appearance and armor, but change colors or summon fun things--great for screenshots.
Objects
: These items turn the player into an object.
Glyphs
: Mists of Pandaria introduced many minor glyphs with cosmetic effects.

A Raid for All Seasons: Flexible Raid Preview
Blizzard is introducing a new raid format in Patch 5.4! The new
Flexible Raid
system is designed to allow social groups a close-knit raiding experience outside of the usual 10 and 25 player formats.
This new raid format is intended to appeal to players who enjoyed the 10-player normal format in Wrath of the Lich King. It's something players can enjoy doing for fun on off-nights with their Real ID or Battle.net friends. There isn't an ilvl requirement for Flexible Raids, so new alts can tag along too!
This should also be a welcome alternate to LFR, where players can run through easy content solely with their friends and don't have to rely on PUGs to round out 25 players. Rewards are also slightly better in this format--higher ilvl gear, and the chance to complete achievements and win mounts.
A raid's difficulty will scale based on how many players are in the Flexible Raid. Between 10 and 25 people can be in this raid.
This raid format has a separate lockout than LFR, and Normal/Heroic. You can also complete achievements on this difficulty level.
Gear rewards will be between LFR and Normal quality. Players can also get some items not available in LFR.
There's no ilvl requirement for Flex

All Blizzard games are integrated--no more separate launchers for each game.
There are tabs to view information on all Blizzard games, patch notes, and promotions, as well as news and blogs written by Blizzard CMs.
Many Settings options for all games, including game installation, security options, game updates, battle.net app specifics, and network details.

Blizzard on Titan: Official Statement
Late this evening, rumors started circulating that Titan, Blizzard's next-gen MMO, was delayed until 2016 with many developers reassigned to other projects.
With
WoW down to 8.3 million subscribers
after the latest Activision Blizzard earnings call, some players thought that Titan development needed to be sped up. But in order to be a truly great next-gen MMO and breathe some new life into the genre, taking extra time to deliver an excellent product is worth the wait.
