Ysera didn't even do anything, her only purpose seemed to have been to remove Malfurion from the game, and they didn't even bring him back after she left.
i choked up abit great scene
Ysera: My work here is done.Player: But you didn't do anything?Ysera: *refuses to elaborate, leaves*
Of course Ysera did little. The point of her wasn't to solve our problems. She's here for 3 reasons:
I like how people that defend this can't even say why was Ysera here, she did nothing. The whole point was to lock away Malfurion because he would $%^&* slap the Incarnets and expansion would be over.
Why are only the girls here? What is going on? Where are all the strong heroic men at?What is this hold your hands and sing the power of friendship stuff?
They retconned the legion events to find an excuse to bench Malfurion in DF. This is not the first time they cuck him. He had a minor role in Legion but they didnt reunite the brothers. Did not reignite the rivalry or even a cinematic to provide closure for the two. Then you have Nazjatar where they cucked him AGAIN. Him and Tyrande so that Sylvanas and her puppy could be front and center. Two characters that have no history with Azshara. So, the question that stands and bothers me to be answered is: Why do they hate Malfurion ?For those who do not know or are not aware of: The retcon is that she sacrificed for Malfurion. If you leveled through Legion or played Legion you would know that what she did was nothing and it is retconned. If you want to see the cinematic search for "Xavius corrupts Ysera". I will provide the context: The context is that Xavius imprisoned Malfurion (and took him in Darkheart Thicket but we dont know that at the moment) and used an illusion of Malfurion to bait us, Ysera and Tyrande. She did not sacrifice for him. Cannonically it is us that goes in the Darkheart Thicket and save him. Ysera did not sacrifice for him. The corrupted Tear of Elune was aimed at her. She did not jump in front of him. She did not save him. She did nothing for him. All this got retconned to have Malfurion removed AGAIN in a setting he was suited for. All this to have this cinematic which is again is talking, hugs and sad faces. This is not the first time they do this to a character this expansion. Wrathion has been written to be a prodigy. His natural arc and conclusion to anyone that reads books and is aware of what a character journey is and how it works knows that he was supposed to the the Aspect of Earth and succeeding his father. The moose was written as an NPC exclusively for Legion and if you played Legion, again.....you understand what I am talking about. I do not know what is wrong with the story writting team but it is frustrating whenever one tries to have it make sense. You will excuse me if I cant enjoy this cinematic when the above was necessary to make it happen. I care much more about Malfurion than Ysera and I will take anytime a heroic death, action and awesome blows exchange between hero and villain over cries, hugs and talks.
OMG the writers forgot ... AGAIN...and it was just from prev patch...
UHAHAHAHAAHwhen will our REAL WoW come back and this @#$% end?
100% Malfurion has been affected by shadowlands and becomes an enemy in the future. Time moves quicker there so he could have been brainwashed over the 500 years he was gone or whatever. Illgonyth whisper “beware the vassal of life with green eyes”Malf opens the Amirdrassil portal to the Shadowlands allowing the Primus and his armies after Last Titan to invade as a callback to Medivh opening the way for the orcs (army led by Draka too)I mean…it’s right there…
I really am convinced somewhere along the line, Danuser was playing and got his backside handed to him egregiously by a Night Elf and swore to destroy their lore whenever he got the gig as one of the writers at Blizzard. Ever since BFA, they have been an absolute punching bag for the writers and sure, this can be considered a "redemption" but this whole patch has been laughably bad for storytelling both for the dragons and the Night Elves that its giving me Shadowlands PTSD.I'm legitmately at this point where as an old NE main that any time I see NE lore I just dread it because NEs have been frikken assassinated so badly by this whole "bait and switch" bs with Ysera and Malfurion and every enemy flocking to a world tree to destroy it; it's not a beaten horse anymore, it's a crater. If this is all NEs are good for then good god gone are the days of WC3 lore where NEs had any dignified decent portrayal at all- they even destroyed Maiev's anti-mage character in the heritage questline lmao.Danuser and his disney/marvel writing needs to go, eesh.
During an interview posted by Wowhead a year ago, it was revealed that this story was inspired by the greek mythology of Persephone about the cycle of spring and autumn. So Ysera's leaving is totally aligned with this mythology. And here we are:Malfurion sleeps in Ardenweald in exchange of Ysera's coming back:I want Malfurion. When people are happily together:I hate being happily together.Ysera goes back to Ardenweald in exchange of Malfurion's coming back:I want Ysera. At this point I think some people are just stressed by ANYTHING. Maybe it is social media or Trump's fault, or it is a personality trait. All in all, it is just a story, and characters don't really live or die because they are just the creations of imagination. Being stressed by them is bad for mental health.
Put Ysera in it and make her lame.
Wouldn't be surprised if they brought Malfurian back soon only to kill him off shortly after. They really hate on one of the most powerful people in the game and one of the most fan favorites. If this blizzcon wasn't so promising I would've dropped the game after that cinematic instantly, such a junk story.
