Timewalking Content Will Scale Up To Player Level in Patch 11.0.5 - No More Timewalking Gear Minmaxing

DUNGEONS AND RAIDS

Timewalking dungeons will now scale enemies to your current level as opposed to scaling you to the level of the dungeon.

Developer’s note: Timewalking now uses the same scaling system as Chromie Time, allowing us to better maintain Timewalking dungeons and control their intended tuning.

But What Does This Mean?with hilarious side effects

Effects from crafted gear of the past, including old enchants and gems;

Azerite Gear and Traits from Battle for Azeroth;

Gear with guaranteed multiple sockets from Mists of Pandaria and even further in the past;

Items with powerful effects of the past such as old Legendaries and Trinkets.

But Is This Really Needed? Timewalking Is So Easy!Yes, Timewalking content in general is easy enough where none of this is requiredTimewalking DiscordWill This Affect the Mage Tower/Deaths of Chromie?

The most I would do is equip my legendary MoP cloak, and I'm going to miss it. Can't imagine what a bummer this is for the people who went out and put together the ultimate sets. Just let people have their fun, man.

Fun detected, must obliterate

So now giga twinked level 10's will be the way to speed through TW dungeons...

Or, and this is a crazy idea, play without a carry. Timewalking isn't hard enough to warrant a strategy. Some of y'all take the fun out of gaming and blame blizzard for it.

Or, and this is a crazy idea, people like to optimise. Timewalking is inconsequential static content. So some of us have found fun in figuring out the best setup instead of being spoon fed ilvl increases as "fun".

Blizzard can barely get tuning and scaling correct for the leveling experience of the current expac, and they think this will fix tuning across a gap of SEVENTY levels? Hah. Anyonee who played MoP remix knows how busted low level characters are so now you’ll just hope you end up with some in your TW run. It also means if you’re undergeared for your level then it’ll suck even more because you won’t be dropped down to a set item level like it currently does.

I’ve saved nearly every good item, legendary, trinket, and random thing I’ve gotten since MoP just so I can mess around with them in timewalking. This change flat out sucks.

Seriously. It's gotten to the point if loot isn't literally handed to players, they complain about. How lazy and complacent the player base has become. Stop blaming Blizzard for your inadequacies and childish expectations.

Comment by schnizol

this is a HORRIBLE change and I can't be vocal enough about it.

the only moments to use our old legendaries... GONE

PLIZZZZ BLIZZ REVERT THIS CHANGE OMG

Comment by Miral007

You can still optimize it just may be a different meta

Fun detected. It was cool to have an actual use for my Tarecgosa staff.

Yup. I loved being able to use old legendaries and build silly overpowered sets. I hate this change so much.

That's likely the point of it

That is a bad change, it will make timewalking more tedious, and I don't think that having to play mechanics in timewalking raids is making them more attractive (or just leads to people no longer doing them).

Also gearing for timewalking is a thing of the past. They nerfed pretty much everything, the few percent damage you can get out of using perfect gear is not worth the time walking to the bank to get the optimized gear in the first place. Only to realize that the spec you play has much more influence on your performance than anything you could possibly wear.

Comment by NokoFace

This doesn't even stop timewalking twinking. It just kills all of the time and effort we put into it right now. Level 10 characters with locked XP will be the new meta. This change accomplishes nothing.

This is objectively not true. As a windwalker monk, me going into timewalking dungeons with my timewalking set and going in without my timewalking set is a day and night difference. Likewise my evoker. Timewalking sets still matter immensely. Trinket effects, azerite essences, legendary cloak and ESPECIALLY gem slots are very impactful. People think timewalking sets are equipping old legendaries and thinking that makes them good, when most sets these days don't use legendary weapons anymore.

Comment by Crusherix

Stupid decision. Will make all timewalking harder since you now have to get good gear at whatever level u are.

And do what exactly? Either level and not be a "gigga twinked" 10 or just be a 10 doing timewalking dungeons for no reason? What goofy complaint is this?

Comment by Rizto

What a horrible change. Yes, its a very niche part of the game - but completely killing it for "balance" is so incredibly frustrating.
For those that cared, it was content. Farming specific old stuff, like Azerite Gear etc.
And the worst part is, nothing will come of it. The "balance" will never be important, because we all know they will never make tw actually hard. So a fun, creative and interesting part of the game to many is outright slaughtered for absolutely zero gain. Zero.
Who asked for this? Who does this appeal to? Who cares about "balancing" in tw dungeons? Who can name a single benefit?

Comment by bastler

It seems out of balance currently, too.

Why? who did got hurt for helping people leveling during Time Walking? We get No cool Transmogs, No usable gear (554? lol), they are ONLY good for leveling, i dont know a single person that love to spend a lot of time there, and now this? why? Blizzard plz, ask "Your Customers".
Im sorry if we r trying to have fun in a game that WE pay for.... We had spend days online playing your game trying to farm that gear, you are giving us less reasons to be online...
Its like asking for a Chocolate Cake and get a Fish sandwich, because the waiter think that knows what u want. And will charge u double because had to hire new people to make Your Special Sandwich. what a joke...
Running out of fun things in this game.

Another example of Blizzard not listening to its player base / simply ignoring feedback! One step forward, two steps back.

let him play how he want's to play. People like you are so weird. There are many different ways of playing the game and people have fun doing different things. It's really not that deep
