Blizzard should also increase the ilvl of heirlooms at level 100 and up though. Item Level 605 for a Level 100 heirloom is rather terrible considering a boosted level 100 character has item level 640 gear baseline. At least increase the heirlooms a bit so that it is worth equipping at level 100 in comparison with baseline gear.

This scales the heirlooms up to a maximum of item level 160 at level 110 (was item level 800 before the squish):

For anyone considering how much gold they'll need to upgrade all your applicable heirlooms (non-weapon, shield, off-hand), based on the heirloom guide here, I figure you're looking at spending about 300,000 gold.

I notice it doesn't mention weapons, and I suppose that makes sense, given the focus on artifact weapons this expansion. I wonder when/if Blizzard will add the appropriate tokens to also raise those, though? I'm guessing end of expansion, or beginning of next...

You don't need gold to upgrade looms if you got enough alts.

Likely this will be buyable from Event currency vendors like all the other Loom upgrades.

If you got enough like say 5 just do 1 TW dungeon when its out per alt, get the quest item turn in for the 500badges on each toon, they will all gradually save up to a point each one can buy a token.

Edit: Price is 1,000 TW badges for a 110 armor upgrade, 1,250 for a weapon upgrade

Other option is to Build up Darkmoon Fair Tickets on all your alts using the quest items.
I think a price could be near a range of 125-150 tickets so this is about 2 months worth of Darkmoon fair quest items or 1 month with daily's.

Though I do expect a quest to help everyone get a freebie like in WoD, got enough alts grind out this quest get a few free upgrades. Edit: sadly no quest, maybe a later patch.

Coming in 9.1.5, Eternal Heirloom Armor Casing - This is the next item in the series of heirloom upgrades, and will require the item to be upgraded to 50 already, before it can then be upgraded to 60.

You want to know, how much gold needed for an alt?

First of all, you will need minimum 3900 gold to get the starter heirloom set which will gives you a boost till reach level 60 (+you will need a guild too, to get some of them which are listed below):

Ok people below have gone crazy with the guides for completionists; most heirloom aren't worth leveling to the 101-110 range since all LEGION quests scale with your level, so any rare reward will meet or beat the bonuses found on these heirlooms.

Sticking to the INCOMPARABLE +X% to quest and kills experience (which will get you through levels and into endgame content including world quests soonest) here's all you really need:

Helmet: +10%
Shoulders: +10%
Chest: +10%
Pants: +10%

Cape: +5%
Ring: +5%

You need 4 items per armor class (cloth, leather, mail, plate) for a total of 20k gold.
The cape and ring are specific to stat build (str, agi, int), not armor class so 10k spent here will benefit more or less character classes than armor classes depending on your alt choices.
Dread Pirate ring benefits all classes equally (stam + crit + haste) so as a pure leveling item it is best in slot.

Covering +exp for all potential classes and stat builds = 80k armor, 15k capes, 5k-15k rings for a total of 100 - 110k gold.

Took me some time to understand why my alt can't buy these upgrade items, even having enough Timewarped Badge-s.
It seems that if the item upgrades a heirloom up to lvl X, then you can buy that upgrade item only by a character whose level is X+1 or higher, regardless of how many Timewarped Badge-s you have.
For example, since Ancient Heirloom Armor Casing performs upgrade to level 90, only your character of level 91 or higher can buy it.

Unless you really really REALLY need to level an alt ASAP, I'd delay buying upgrades until potential changes to the heirloom system for Shadowlands are confirmed. The removal of heirloom XP buffs, the level squish and the dramatically reduced time required to reach level 50 may spell the end of this gold sink.
