I completed this on a 639 Brewmaster monk on 2025-03-04, when the boss died I could not loot it and the corpse disappeared quickly, also looked for chests but could not find any. So I have not received the Schematic for the achievement. Also tried relogging but did not work. I put in a ticket so hopefully it gets fixed! Just letting people know there might be a bug when other people complete it. Will update when my ticket gets answered.

Edit: Ticket responded back that it was not working as intended. I figured I would try again with the weekly reset, and I decided to record it this time. I was able to loot the boss but the schematic was not there. Was not in mail or bags either.

Completed on 2025/07/03 as Blood DK(640 ilvl).

As others are saying here, no loot from the corpse or any boxes to loot.
Adds spawning in the stands making them immune to the bombs and Brann just trolling and running around the other side of the arena, making the boss jump to him.
Brann also killing the adds instead of the boss most of the time..

Is Brann getting perma-targeted by the boss jump on '? mode' supposed to be Blizzards way of making it 'more challenging' or something? Its tedious at best and at worst its kind of game breaking because Brann gets knocked out of the arena and doesnt partake in the fight properly... (only spawning in the the arena when he gets to 0% health)

Got my Let Me Solo Him: The Underpin Achievement Last Night from Defeating The Underpin on Tier Double ? Mode.
The Underpin Did Not Drop Delver's Gob-Trotter Schematic: Gold Neither was this item appearing in my Inventory upon defeat of The Underpin + Nothing in my ingame mailbox.

Breaking the Bank is rewarding as intended from defeating The Underpin on Tier Double ? Mode.
The Underpin would atleast drop Golden-Gob Propulsion Rig on Tier ? Mode as the achievement reward says so.

Finally got it after a few dozen tries (did not get awarded the schematic).
The difficulty was difficult, but doable at the moment for hunters, tried a few combinations and I will be reporting my success setup:
- BM Hunter, 657, with Tenacity Pet for extra HP, ST build. You will be 100% on the boss.
- Brann level 69.
- Brann Healer spec, so he can heal you from adds/boss. Brann Tank falls behind as he is squishy and is dead most of the time, Brann DPS is untenable as far as damage taken goes.
- Pinged Chip (trap the bots when they spawn to run towards Bran), for some extra hp/healing/damage.
- Biofuel Rocket Gear, every add that you kill with a bomb will increase your haste, but more important, your movement speed.

The only problem, even 1 of his melee, white non-crit, hits is enough to one-shot your pet and take you down a lot:
melee swing hits for 5,611,022 Physical.(528,760 Overkill)
Brann at 69 dies in 3 hits, or 4 with Pinged chip even on tank, so he mustn't be tanking. That means you are spending more time resurrecting him or your pet and kiting, giving not enough time to dodge flamethrower, dodge bombs, do bombs to kill adds, and DPS the boss as well.

Tips:
- Megacluster Munitions (fire swirls from falling down bombs, 12m damage taken), Crush (9m), Flamethrower (8m + 10m fire dot), timed exploding bombs (10m), will one shot you, even with 9m hp pool.
- Molten Cannon add lines (5m damage taken), Flaming Wreckage of an add (1m) may kill you, but you can get hit by one if you can recover.
- Flamethrower can get baited on Brann, so don't stand next to him.
- Keep Cheetah/disengage for oh ^&*! situations, or to kick bombs and kill adds fast.
- Keep moving around the room to avoid tar puddles.
- You must NOT put your pet taunt on, and tank the boss, while kiting if low hp, and ensuring pet is just there to DPS.
- Bloodlust doesn't reset between pulls, have to re enter instance or wait.
- Adds may bug out after a while, must reset instance.
- It feels they simply buffed it to be unfair to non-tank classes.

The fact that it's been almost a week and this achievement still doesn't give the schematic is criminal. People are spending hours slogging through a buggy, broken fight with Brann trolling the positioning of the boss and dying nearly instantly when a tank/healer just to not get the schematic. Same thing happened to me. Have the achievement, but no golden gob trotter.

Completed this achievement and did not receive mount schematic to inventory or mail, nor is it unlocked. I have seen others report this as well. Posting here to try to raise visibility of this bug since that is what *checks notes* Blizzard told me to do.

Completed this on a blood DK at 645 ilvl, most wipes were due to cronies spawning on the spectator stands so no way to actually clear them and you just get overrun trying to dodge the orbs all fight. Eventually got lucky with no bugged spawns and was fairly simple.

If you exit/re-enter the delve it resets the spawns. The instance seems to remember the spawns and doesn't reset them between attempts so you get terrible splits but if you re-enter after each wipe you'll get relatively optimal add placement.

I managed to get a reply about this achievement from EU CS and I quote:

Thanks for reaching out, and good news! -- it seems this was already hotfixed since your message and anyone who has the achievement unlocked should get the schematic when they next defeat the encounter on any difficulty/group size.

After seeing this, I went and re-killed it, but it doesn't seem to be fixed yet.

Outside of bugs mechanically it's much easier then Zekvir on paper that being said the amount of rng that's involved in add placements and aggro tables breaking for pet classes causing bombs to be half across the area it's an incredibly frustrating fight.

This achievement will be easier by the time 11.1.5 hits and you can spend dinars on the gear you need. Level your Brann up to 80 and gear up to 660+.

Let Blizzard fix the bugs and nerf the boss like they did with Zekvir.

For anyone with the achievement already unlocked, the schematic should drop on any difficulty/group size.

Following reports of this still not dropping as it should, the investigation continues!

So killing it again wont award you anything.

Like how hard can it be to fix this? It is really underwhelming when you finally kill it and dont get the schematic.

Got this as a 644ilvl Deathbringer Blood DK with a lvl 67 DPS Brann (Mechasaur EZ-Build Kit & Three Dimensional Bioprinter curios).

Found this way better than Zekvir (or at least, I had less trouble with him). Took me a while to get used to the fight and manage it, but it really does just come down to learning the fight and how to execute it correctly. The only hurdle is the shield, which is the DPS check, but after about 640ilvl I was able to just squeak it after pumping CDs into it.

Tip: If you gradually kite the boss around the perimeter of the arena, this helps get adds to spawn in lines near you instead of being spread out. I did get the odd one or two that spawned a million miles away, but I was able to leave these and work my way around to them over time. As long as you can pop most of the adds in each pack, you should be good.

~~Shields happen at approx 80%, 75%, 60%, 50%, 25% and 15%.~~
Edit: Turns out shields happen at 80% and then approx once every minute thereafter. Which makes more sense than the erratic %ages I noted, but that was just where I noticed I got shields.

This boss was pure pain in the a** and it involved a lot of good RNG and stars to align properly to defeat him. I was up all night, totaling over 27 hours and managed to kill it in the end after many, many wipes. Killed him as 658 Fury Warrior with Healer Brann.

There's a lot of misinformation in these comments, even by those who have defeated it, so I'm going to lay down some info and tips for people.

Boss Mechanics.
1: There is very little RNG in this fight. Despite what a lot of people are saying, every spawn and mechanic is determined by your position, a timer, or the bosses health.
2: Cronies spawn based on your position, always choosing the wall closest to you, and can only spawn in a certain position *once*. If a position has already been used (dead or otherwise), then the cronies will spawn in the next available slot in relation to your position. This is why cronies will spawn on opposite sides of the arena. Once all spots are used up, then they start spawning in the arena. This is effectively the enrage timer.
3: Cronie spawns don't reset on fight reset, only instance reset. This is why people encounter the cronies spawning in the arena so often, as after several attempts all available spawn spots have already been used up from previous attempts. So it's easier to reset the delve/instance, then you can controls the spawns.
4: Bombs also spawn relative to your position, so the easiest way to insure that bombs will be near where the cronies are, is for you to be.
5: Bind "interact" to a key. This makes kicking bombs a lot easier than clicker.
6: Bombs can only be kicked when you are facing them. The little arrow showing up is not good enough.
7: The Underpins shield first spawns at 80% health, and then roughly every minute after. In my testing, boss health % has no impact on the shield after the 80% mark, but I could be wrong.

Personal/Bran Mechanics.
1: Bran should be set as DPS, even if you are a healer or a tank. The fight does not have a lot of damage going out when kitting, avoiding mechanics properly and managing the cronies, and DPS Brann BY FAR has the best survivability as he Disengages and keeps at range being much more likely to avoid bombs and other mechanics.
2: If you have access to a class or talent that does bonus damage to shields, take it. This is easily the biggest DPS check of the fight, and busting that shield down quickly makes the fight way easier.
3: Any Combat Curio is fine. None of them particularly stand out, but I'd argue Impact Conversion Matrix is the best if you have a high rank version of it.
4: For Utility Curios, considering using Biofuel Rocker Gear which you gain stacks of from killing Cronies, Overdrive Pylon for more damage at the start of the fight, or Loot Radar. Keep in mind that unless Rank 3/4, they're all pretty pathetic, so just take w/e you have the highest of.
- Pacifist Rig is a trap, it may dominate regular delves, but the damage on the Underpin himself is very low and the random spawn can arguably make things harder for you as you can't kick bombs or burn the shield.
- Bioprinter doesn't seem to work on Cronies (from what I could tell).
- The others shouldn't need explaining.

Kill the first pack of cronies with balls, lower the boss to 80% to start the shield and its future timer, take the boss away from the corpses of the cronies - all this before the second spawn of the cronies. Then just move the boss along the wall, killing cronies, trying as much as possible to make sure that during the shield they are not alive, this is the only DPS check. At about 30%, you can use BL, ignore cronies and kill the boss.

P.S. can't loot the boss, no skin.

Just completed this at 651ilvl on an Unholy DK. I had 2-set, one embellishment, and used a Flask of Alchemical Chaos. A lot of what I'm reading makes this fight sound quite complicated, but it's actually a lot simpler than the previous Zek'vir fight it just has a harsher dps check and more ways you can be punished by bad luck. I really think this fight will become trivialised by gear as, even when playing a class with notoriously low mobility, manouvering to kick the bombs and avoid the fire was definitely the easiest part of the fight (*).

What you need to know:

Most of surviving this fight is just avoiding damage from the stuff that appears on the ground. He has a jump mechanic, will rain bombs from the sky, has a frontal cone flamethrower, and his cronies will shoot big fire balls at you.
The boss will summon bombs first and then his cronies, and then bombs again. Kick the bombs into his cronies to deal big damage to them, they will need 3 bombs to hit them to die, remember the damage is AoE so aim for the middle of the pack. Kick any that are left over away from you to avoid the AoE effect after they time out.
The boss will shield himself at 81% HP and again at approximately every 10% thereafter (it varies slightly depending on which ability he is doing when he hits the health %). Afterwards he leaves behind oil on the floor which is difficult to move around on but doesn't do any damage to you.

Tips and Tricks?
There are a lot of ways you can optimise this fight and which class you play will definitely influence which mechanics are more difficult. From an Unholy DK perspective, my advice is:

Picking a good keybind for your interact key makes yeeting the bombs a lot simpler. Just in case you're like me and forgot that binding interact was a thing.
Always position the boss as close to the edge of the arena as possible. After a wave of cronies has spawned and you've killed them all, move the boss around the edge of the arena until there is enough space for the next wave to spawn.
In general, move as little as possible until the cronies spawn. Kill the cronies and then do a big move to another part of the arena. Moving less usually makes the bombs and cronies spawn more consistently together.
Always prioritise kicking bombs into the cronies. Unless the boss is on very low HP the cronies can quickly become overwhelming, especially when they're on the opposite side of the arena.
DPS between his shields doesn't really matter, save any damage CD >1min to only use on his shield (I would alternate Raise Abomination and Unholy Assault for this, never using them both at the same time). The more gear you get, the less this point really matters.
The best way to avoid bad RNG is to stop dps and reposition the boss to a better spot. This does not always work, however I often had him jump miles away from me to wherever Brann decided to stand and then immediately do his shield. This is avoidable by stopping dps just before he hits the 10% health intervals.
Think of all of his mechanics as a trade, when he summons cronies you can use your mobility buttons to position to the bombs to kill them more quickly, when he shields you are trading an offensive CD, etc.
Most of my deaths were from his flamethrower ability, but I noticed he will almost always do it immediately after summoning cronies. You can position him so he's facing away from the cronies and the bombs (be melee range so you can just walk through him to avoid the frontal) so you aren't met with the frontal immediately after using your mobility to get to the bombs.

Bugs and Annoyances:

If you die, release spirit and right click your portrait -> leave delve. There is some weird bug that messes with how his cronies spawn with each consecutive attempt. If you are seeing cronies in the audience where you can't possibly reach them, this is probably the reason why.
For some reason your cooldowns don't reset between tries.
Kicking the bombs towards cronies at the far wall is, for a very stupid reason, much more difficult than any other position. This is because of slight raises in the terrain which affects the distance the bomb will travel after being kicked.

I forgot to record my kill, but I should be able to kill him again soon to show all of the above!

March 17th, 2025 - just did this on a 646 Frostfire Frost Mage. 2pc Nerub'ar, 2pc LOU, embellished 675 crafted staff

Holy camoly this took me like 12 hours worth of tries.

Held basically every CD for shield burns, but having a shatterable GS and Ray of Frost for those is probably the biggest part. CS/Meteor is a bit supplementary.

Killed this when I really started exaggerating boss movement to get him away from the charred ground he leaves after those phases. About a quarter of the room each time, which isn't something I did for like 95% of pulls.

It's truly not a DPS check outside of shields, so just clear every bomb/robot you can for the most part.

At about 20% left I just shimmered to the way opposite side of the arena, lusted, potted and ignored robots. You can still get got by 1 or 2 fireballs but you just have to commit there.

So glad this is over! GGs.

Bait adds by having the boss and you stood next to the edges of the arena at all times
Bait flamethrower away from bombs, every 20% or so the boss gets a large absorb shield you have to nuke down, if possible try to watch timers and do this after you kicked bombs, or before fresh bombs spawn.
The goal of the fight is to manage the bombs so you can use them to destroy the adds before you get overwhelmed while dodging a lot of mechanics and staying alive.

Completed tonight as a 661 Destro warlock.

Tips:

Brann as a healer is a necessity. With the changes made to Brann, he seems to never die from any AOE he is standing in and lived for each attempt.
I did not reset the instance after each attempt.
I used Rank 2 Impact Conversion Matrix and the Rank 2 biofuel rocket gear. I think Lootraidr could be used for 4% more damage to the underpin could be useful but i wouldnt use anything else in the utility slot.
Use the Interact Keybind that Blizzard has given us in the UI. This is necessary to ensure you are kicking bombs quickly and effectively.
I had the most success with ensuring that every single crony was killed each set. If even one Crony is up and left over, it can get out of control pretty quickly.
Practice just kicking the bombs to hit as many as you can and healing off the boss with drain life/whatever your class has. Do 3-4 minutes of not hitting the boss and just doing crony attempts.
Just like everyone else has and will mention: saving something to break the shield he puts up every 10% is crucial. If one heal gets off its too disheartening to continue the attempt IMO.
I didn't use lust (drums as warlock) because it wasn't necessary.
This probably could be done at a lower ilevel maybe 650 but without 2/4 piece you are just making this more difficult to break that shield.
All of your attempts that go "deep" that have deaths will likely be due to either flamethrower, or a fire ball from a crony knocking you into a flamethrower. It is outrangeable so if you can shmove away from the boss now's your chance to run.
Do not give up on this challenge. Everything that killed me on my attempts felt 'fair'. Nothing becomes a surprise if you can live for 4-5 minutes. My killtime was 7 minutes 32 seconds. I'm sure you can do it faster than that.
When the boss hit 6% HP, I had 2 cronies up on seperate sides of the room and just tunneled. Felt worth it at that point.

I received this today as a 657 Arcane Mage.

My Bran, was equipped with a Pinged Augment Chip 3/4 and a Kaja'Cola Carrier 4/4. I rerolled the Kaja'Cola until I obtained either a Haste and Mastery buff or one of them as a triple buff.

I saved my Touch of the Magi for his Divert Energy to Shields, which allowed me to break through his shield every time.

I attempted to bait the Time Bomb Launcher and Signal Cronies towards the north, east, south, and west walls to ensure I had enough space to maneuver.

Once I got him below 20%, I focused on relentlessly attacking him, ignoring the Signal Cronies.

I killed him yesterday with my 658 Demon Hunter in Havoc Offspec. It took a while but with a bit patience and experience it's quite doable. I resetted the delve after every try and got both mount and title.

In case you're interesed I used the knowledge I gained to create a small guide. Hope it helps :)

tl;dr:

Brann as Heal with Pinged Augment Chip and L00T RAID-R. Try to circle the area to have the adds spawn together every time. Use the bombs to clear them asap and keep doing damage in the phase between. The shield is quite doable and as a damage check not even close to Zekvir's egg.
For the demon hunters out there: Just save your eyebeam for it, it should be enough.

Some PoC trys to see if its doable and ended on defeat at 3rd... No flask, no food, no prepot... Just do the mechanics, dodge, move, kick bombs. 7 min combat.

I expects some new habs at ~25%, but the combat its exacly the same from beggining to end...

I recommend to start to kick bombs asap the adds lands, the fast you kill, the better quality of life :)
Also, move away from the last spot to avoid some adds spawn at one side and someone at the other side (where Jesus Christ lost his ligther).

Killed it yesterday on my 650 Vengeance DH with 2p and FULL damage talents (sacrified all survivability for any dps I could squeeze out of the build).
I used dps Brann and Pinged Augment Chip/Loot Raid-R curios.
The Pinged Augment Chip really helped break shields and I saved meta for instances where I didn't have Brann's help due to the stun; otherwise I managed to break it with Fel Devastation and Sigils cooldowns.
The movement of Vengeance DH is simply unmatched for this fight and would highly recommend (both for dodging abilities and for getting to bombs quicky).

The schematic now correctly drops from the corpse of Underpin and needs to be looted (I suppose it comes via mail in case you fail or forget to loot the boss) as of March 24.

EDIT: Completed again on Vengeance on alt account at ilvl 641 and lvl 64 dps Brann (same curios as well) on 04/07/2024.

Done it yesterday after 290 tries lmao pro gamer here
As a VDH (Hyjal, EU) 649, 2 pc
At first I tried with the Aldrachi hero, managed to down the shield, then I switched to Fel Scarred, saved my beam for the shield, used the Fiery brand then boom boom and finished with Elysian decree
I felt more confident with Fel Scarred
Used my meta on CD for a good burst
Most important part is "always take care of the cronies"

He was set as a dps (also it didn't matter because his dps was so inconsistant), he used Automatic Footbomb Dispenser and L00T RAID-R
The grenades did some good damages
Never felt the need to heal, he never got down

Brann was a nuisance to me. Randomly he decided to stay in the middle of the arena, so Underpants targeted him for his Crush and then the cronies started to popped everywhere
Sometimes he thought it would be fun (spoiler : it was not) to FREEZE the bombs so I couldn't actually kick them
Cronies took 2 or sometimes 3 bombs, idk why

But god, the new set was so infuriating, sometimes when it procs and turns me into a demon and I activate the meta, I don't get the enhanced abilities, i was fuming

Zekvir was much more enjoyable

Was banging my head against the wall trying to down this guy with my 654 Arms Warrior and healer Brann (40+ attempts).
Swapped over to my 651 Mountain Thane Prot spec with DPS Brann and beat him in 3 attempts. Prot helped with survivability and Brann went into Rambo-mode and did most of the damage.

Completed it today as a 660 elemental shaman (main resto). Brann lvl 69 (Healer), combat curio and biofuel rocket gear. I popped all CDs on pull and nuked but after that I saved any cds and stormkeeper for the shield.

The fight took 9 mins and 41sec.

Completed today as 665 4-Piece-Set Fury Warrior (talents bellow). Just want to leave my small piece of advice for everyone, but especially for my fellow DPS warriors out there who may think this is EXTREMELY hard for us, as I thought before.

Took a whole lot of trying, but I don't think the current item level is required. With less it could as well be done with some more time.

My biggest help was Critcake (thank you mate!) YT video about it with the kill being made. Watch it very carefully to understand how he does it, you need to use every tool in our toolkit, being it mobility or survivability-related.
Also the positioning of the Cronies is the MOST IMPORTANT PART, however do not forget to keep hitting the boss every time you can do it as safely as possible.

As of Brann setup, I used Healer (couldn't think of it any other way as a Melee DPS) with the curios being Goblomagnetic Bouncing Grenade and L00T RAID-R, both rank 4/4.
I've tried other curios but this were the ones that made the kill and the ones that felt better playing with.

VERY IMPORTANT: I've noticed through the video referred above that the fire balls named Molten Cannon the Cronies shoot CAN be reflected by our Spell Reflection, so you don't take damage and give the Crony around the same damage as a bomb! Remember this only works on the first spell, so don't try to use it to reflect multiple incoming fire balls because it won't.

Completed today (4/3/2025).
654 Enhancement shaman, running Stormbringer and 4p-set. Opened with Hero, and was able to use Ascend for every other Shield break. On those without Ascend I was still able to make the damage check though sometimes pretty slim. I felt Stormbringer Ascendence worked better then Totemic since while in Ascendence i was free to move around picking up heals, kicking bombs, and still do damage. I used Earth Ele to peel boss whenever i got behind in add control in order to freely run without being meleed.
Protip: USE CAPACITER TOTEM IT WILL STUN THE ADDS MAKES MOVEING AROUND MUCH EAISER. I used Gardian Cudgel since you will probably only get 2-3 max so better to stun longer then 10seconds off CD.

Best Advice is to not panic, he throws two sets of bombs per add spawn. it may not feel like it but you have time to deal with adds.
Dont get hung up on the small stuff on my kill my oil puddles were horrid all over the place, and my bombs wiffed a bunch. You dont get anything special for killing it fast only for killing it. (My kill took 8m 40sec)

Healer Brann lvl 60 running Mech 3/4 Dinos, and 4/4 Bioprint.
According to details over the course of the fight:

Just finished this as Prot Pala, only took me a couple of attempts on ?. Admittedly, doing this on Prot kind of trivialized the encounter. With that said, here are some tips:

-As long as you are consistent with your positioning (i.e hugging the walls to reduce the range of bomb/add spawns), you will have plenty of space. With that said, I had the occasional add spawn on the complete other side of the room, 1 or 2 is fine, but anything more than that and things will likely get out of hand. My interact bind admittedly sucks, so I had to click on the bombs. It wasn't an issue for me, but your mileage may vary. Do what's comfortable for you.

-Bring health pots. There are a lot of random mechanics that alone may not be entirely lethal, but due to loss of control, can end your run. Having an extra defensive, even if it's a Rank 1 potion, is huge. Don't be cheap and make sure to bring consumes. You can stack Brann's fire food buff and a separate food buff. I did not bring Drums, but if you have the gold, you can definitely use it as an emergency back-up in case you don't think you have the damage for one of the shield phases or towards the very end of the fight.

Some prot-specific tips:

- Gear is huge here, especially as a prot pala. 4-set refunding holy power can make or break whether you get through the shield.

-Uptime is the name of the game here. Even if you have to sit outside of melee range, you can still use globals and your ranged holy power generators to pump damage once he's out of all the fire.

- Hold damage CDs for the shield phase. I am 665 ilvl, 4-set, and barely managed to get through the shield with Shake the Heavens (Templar buff) . If you have crappy RNG or do not have 4-set, you are going to consistently struggle to get through the shield. I will admit my trinkets are kind of average (Funhouse Lens/Mechano-core Amplifier), but offensive trinkets are definitely the move here. No need for defensive trinkets; if you are struggling to stay alive through lay, divine shield, ardent defender, guardian of ancient kings and shield of tyr, you are 100% getting hit by preventable damage.

- Don't be afraid to heal Brann. You are likely going to overcap on Shining Light procs (the one that allows every 3 righteous shields to proc a free Word of Glory). Might as well dump some on Brann if he's trolling a bit.

-I had Brann on DPS and with Mechanosaur and 3-D Bioprinter. I found that the fight would get more difficulty progressively, and despite them only being present for ~40% of the fight, they were my 2nd largest source of damage (18% damage versus 19 from Empyrean Hammer). The mechanosaur was like 60% of Brann's damage. I haven't tested other curios, but those are definitely some numbers.

-Once the boss hits 5% hp, if you think you can kill the boss in 30 seconds or less, you can just send full damage and cycle through all your defensives.

Overall, I'd say the fight was harder than Zekvir due to Underpin being more hectic. However, I killed this boss in fewer tries than I did Zekvir. This could be due to me doing Zekvir on Ret as opposed to Prot.

Finally completed this as a survival hunter with 650 ilvl after OVER 600 attempts (not kidding).

Here's some fun things that you can expect from the fight:

Sometimes Brann decides to stop working. Just stops throwing potions and healing for no apparent reason.

Foot bombs that you cannot click on and don't respond to your interact key. Some foot bombs enjoy resting against a fence where they refuse to move.

Cronies spawning on the other side of the map even though you meticulously took the time to position the Underpin perfectly...

This has been the most frustrating solo challenge of my WoW career. Worse than all the Mage Towers, Endless Proving Grounds, Zekvir etc. Partly because it IS challenging, but is also very poorly designed. Zekvir was a cakewalk in comparison.

Some tips:

If you're a hunter, don't even bother with BM. Underpin one-shots your pet regardless if growl is turned off, pet on passive, you're frantically calling your pet to and from the boss so that it doesn't get hit. Just one-shots it for looking at him.

Spec into bursty damage for his shield phase. Use trinkets with one-two minute cooldowns and send everything for the first shield phase. Each subsequent shield phase gets easier and easier because it is based on his hit points. I would only hold cooldowns for the first shield.

If possible gear/enchant for SPEED. Just helps with getting to the foot bombs faster.

Don't just kick the bombs as soon as they come out and hope for the best. Really try to aim them at the middle Crony. It's worth taking the time to practice this.

With good DPS you can stop doing the mechanics and focus boss at around 20% HP. More than that I would say too risky.

DON'T GIVE UP! My success attempt had MANY errors and I finished the fight with like a dozen Cronies up!

I did it as a fury warrior around ilvl 650 or something.

My basic tacts:
• I started by standing close (but not too close) to the entrance to boost the odds of him spawning all the robots next to each other.
• If your DPS is OK enough, always focus on killing the robots first (with bombs).
• Once all robots are dead, get the boss to the "end" of one line of dead robots, a tiny distance away from the last one.
• Try to keep him close to the wall (so 1. The robots won't spawn all over the place and 2. He spills the oil there), nuke shield there, then maybe slow down on the DPS until you've killed the next line of robots.

You're not in as much of a hurry as it might feel like, so don't be afraid to run far away to focus on the bomb after you've nuked his shield.

That was basically it. This was an extremely annoying encounter because something the boss will jump to Brann who just happens to run to the middle, and then robots spawn a bit here, a bit there, and sometimes bombs and everything just... overlap. But it is doable. Due to the RNG, it might feel like you're not progressing, but you probably are.

Completed as a Bm Hunter @ 665 ilvl. Took me about 20-25 attempts with most sorting out methods to keep my pet alive. I would say it is definitely doable at lower item levels, not a huge dps check and focuses on mechanics. Some tips I found.

I did not summon my pet until after the first stomp mechanic that he cast and only used my own damage abilities. After the stomp, summoned pet/lust and burned him. No pet taunt on. 99% of the fight I had full aggro on the boss. You can kite him and keep distance and he will never hit you as he stops moving for shields and to summon the bombs. This allowed my pet to stay alive the entire fight and I could focus on mechanics.

80% shield, then 1 min on timer. I ran single target Bm no cd build . Bloodshed was up perfectly for all shields.

As mentioned cronies can be positioned by dragging the boss to the walls. Once I killed a group of adds, I would drag the boss again to an open area. This helped me avoid oil slicks and not have outlier adds. Leaving any adds up meant a wipe. Around 10% I pushed boss and ignored the last set of adds. There is no enrage so as long as you follow mechanics, you don’t have to rush it. Good luck gamers.

Main focus was on kicking bombs into adds and bursting the shield down. I tanked the boss a bit away from the wall and moved in a circle everytime a spawn of adds was dead, so the next spawn will stack together again. Fight took around 10 minutes.

Finished as Survival Hunter in 648 gear with 38 lvl Brann.

Tried about 40 times and kill it on 42 try. Not too hard, but not too easy. Start to the right of the entrance and drive the boss in a circle. Follow the mechanics and don't forget the DPS so you don't drag the fight out too long.

Most importantly, the boss needs to be kept not in the centre and not close to the wall. Try to keep the distance. Good luck!

Did this today as a Retribution paladin, 666 item level.

I used a slightly modified Single Target raid build, swapping some unneeded abilities like Rebuke for more mobility and some survivability.

Curios were 2/4 Reverse Engineered Goblin Death Bomb and 2/4 Three Dimensional Bioprinter. Bioprint ended up being about 8% of my damage, so it definately helped.

Tactics:

Tank Underpin on the inner edge of the track, so he is between add spawns and middle.
Move around the track in a clockwise direction, so adds continue to spawn grouped for bombs.

This will help minimize the RNG when the adds spawn, so you can clear them quickly with the bombs.
Move the boss as close to the wall in a "used" section as he is about to shield up.

This causes his oil to spawn out of the way, reducing the issues you have when moving around the map
Try to time transition to just after you've cleared (most of) the adds.

I didn't need Drums or to saved DPS cooldowns for the shield but there were a few dicy moments.

Divine Shield was an OP carry as usual for these sorts of fights.

I just did this as a 667 ele, and it definitely is a mess. I will say the key to this fight is to learn the boss positioning first and foremost. He's pretty much like goldilocks where he's too close to the wall, entrance or previous set of adds, EVEN THE DEAD ONES! He will cause a split spawn which will nearly guarantee a wipe if you cannot get the mechs under control before he spawns the next set. Followed by make sure to use the interact keybind for the bombs, given manually clicking them doesn't work sometimes.

For me it took a very long time because I swear my Brann was my nemesis when I was attempting the underpin. Given he would bait the boss in the middle.of.the room and cause a cascade anytime the boss casts his bombs or mechs .

I will say once you get him to 10% health and your not about to get another shield, this is when would use any CD's you.have and burn him down, just make sure to dodge things.

This fight is very doable, but you have to work through all the bugs and RNG this fight has to down it.

Got my ass whooped for about an hour on my 659 Fury Warrior (my main) with healer Brann before switching him to Prot on the recommendation of a guildie.
Despite rarely playing tank and not being as familiar with the prot rotation, I actually found the fight much easier due to my higher health/survivability and the fact that the Cronies only need to be hit by two bombs rather than 3 when playing a tank spec. This let me switch Brann to DPS, which gave me more consistent chip damage on the boss and allowed me to focus on positioning/mechanics.

My Brann was level 59 and was running a rank 4 bioprinter and foot bomb. I pulled an average of 900k DPS at the end of the fight and Brann pulled an average of 1.4 million. Overall the fight took about 7 minutes, but my last pull was night-and-day from the previous ones. Positioning and lucky add spawns will make or break your attempts. If the adds always spawn clustered and you have bombs available to kill them quickly, the rest of the fight becomes pretty trivial. If you can get the boss below 50% you can kill it with practice and patience, since there aren't any additional mechanics like on Zek'Vir.

Also, I cannot stress enough, toggling your interact key is a must for this fight.

Tried as a 665 Prot Warrior, and in Arms, and Fury, but Prot ended up being stupid easy AFTER I picked up Sudden Death. The Execute damage easily breaks his shield, and being prot makes the adds much easier since they only require 2 bombs to die.

Also, my Brann was spec'd as DPS, had Mechasaur EZ-Build Kit and Three Dimensional Bioprinter. Those two curios were the top damage for Brann and for me (respectively).

I have solo killed Underpin today with my bear 655 (Wildandsassy, Terokkar, EU) and a healer Brann 80 lvl. I got the meta achievement + the mount, however, I haven't received the Golden skin for the Delver's Gob-Trotter. Which is more strange - I couldn't even find the achievement "Let Me Solo Him: The Underpin" (wrote the ticket to the tech support).

Completed on ~15th try as a 670 monk, trying different Brann talents. The first ~10 were as windwalker and Brann as a healer, but I kept dying to one-shot mechanics like sliding on oil into falling bombs, or getting knocked into stuff. I then switched to Brewmaster with Brann as a healer, which I failed because I missed some shield breaks. Finally, two attempts as Brewmaster and Brann as DPS got it.

My experience with the winning attempt:
-Like MistwalkerAkuji said, surviving and using bombs to AOE the adds is extremely important, just to keep the area clean so you don't get knocked all over the place.
-As a tank, I my self-heals kept me up from the melee attacks and random fireballs, maybe saved me once or twice on the one-shot mechanics.
-Killed all adds, every wave, even if they spawn on the opposite side. Touch of Death with 14m health helped sometimes when there's the one straggler.
-Saved dps cooldowns for every shield phase at 80% and every ~10% afterwards
-Although Weapons of Order was not always up, it made the shield phase much easier. If it's not up, make sure to spend energy very quickly so Shadow-Pan Flurry Strikes procs, which takes off
a bunch of the shield
-I used Improvised Seaforium Pacemaker and Ringing Ritual Mud for trinkets, though the Ritual Mud could probably have been replaced with a dps trinket, since I only used it during shield phases
-Whenever a part of the arena gets filled with oil, I try to taunt the boss to the other side (Hasty Provocation talent makes the boss move very quickly after a taunt). This doesn't always work, but helps when it does.

-Remember, this is not a sprint; it's a marathon. Make sure to kill all the adds and keep the area clear. Light/passive dps on the boss is enough to take him down.

I did this as of 5/18/2025 and was expecting the mount appearance but it was locked so I soloed it again for kicks and still nothing what I did get was C.H.E.T.T Cards which is pretty cool because now I know where to farm these.

I've finally killed it today as MM hunter 670 ilvl with pure single target black ranger build and Brann healer. Just like in previous solo challenge doing the mechanics cleanly will eventually grant you the kill. here are some things I've learned from grinding it, some are MM specific:

the shield phases trigger at certain percantages, you can slow down dps to make them trigger when no other &*!@ is going on
the first phase starts around 80% hp and I used only Trueshot to pass it. for the second I used BL and for the third one you should have Trueshot back. if you get to a fourth one, start pumping
enable the interact key and bind it to a key of your choice. i have mine of F. the explosion radius of the bombs is big, try to aim for the center and you might kill all adds with only 3 bombs
i had to save disengage for the frontal. sometimes its in such a bad place you have to get out of there instantly.
brann healer was a must. the skills didn't really matter but the heals saved me many many times
most importantly: do not panic and don't worry if you can't do it in your first 10 attempts.

Completed today as a 674 demo lock with healer Brann and (Impact Conversion Matrix and Biofuel Rocket Gear). Total repair costs were around 9k gold. I used minimal consumables, but I did spend a few thousand on healing pots, flasks, enchants, etc. There are already great tips on this page and Bellular's YouTube guide, but here were the most helpful ones for me:

1. Positioning is king. After killing all mechs on one area of the outer wall, you must immediately move to a new, clean area (I rotated clockwise). Put pets on passive, if you have to. You need to get him to a clean section of the wall so the new mechs can all spawn together and die much more easily to bombs.
2. Keybinding your "Interact with Target" key is mandatory. Choose something you can press, and even spam, while moving.
3. There is a significant delay before the swirls cause damage. You can usually finish your cast before moving, which can significantly increase your DPS. You must move immediately sidestep or outrange his flamethrower, though.
4. Mechs (almost always) need to die ASAP, even if it's a DPS loss. On my successful attempt I killed all adds, but it's fine to leave up 1-2 if needed, especially if they are far away (remember, positioning matters more than killing adds). You can also ignore adds and focus on survival and DPS when the boss is around 10%. I found Burning Rush to be mandatory during mech phases to increase my speed. Make sure you have the Fiendish Stride talent to reduce damage you take from this, and just use Bran's potions (or self-heals if needed) to survive. Make sure you use both healthstones and Algari Healing Potions. Aim for the second or third mech in the line, not the outside ones.
5. Save major cooldowns like the Demonic Tyrant for his shield phase. These start at 80% and occur about every 10% after that. Most of the time you'll need to attack only the boss during the shield phase, but occasionally you can do a few bombs if you know your minions can break the shield.
6. DBM isn't mandatory, and the fight is doable if you're not used to it. However, it's bar showing when the next add summon phase is coming can be particularly helpful, as you can stop damaging the boss (and avoid pushing him into the shield phase) if there are too many adds out. You can adjust the DBM settings to only show this bar, if you wish.

The kill took me about 125 attempts over 3 days, with my winning run lasting around 8 minutes (so pace yourself!). Most of my failed attempts were due to bad positioning of the boss (if he jumped on my minion or Bran rather than me). I solved this by switching the pet to passive as needed to ensure proper boss positioning. Some wipes will inevitably be due to bad RNG with the bomb and swirl placements, so don't fret defeat. Just focus on positioning, killing mechs with bombs, and DPS'ing the boss when you can. The fight is very hard but absolutely doable, so don't give up!

Spent the whole Sunday trying to kill him as arms 672. 200 tries, and I just gave up, in 99% tries I'm not getting even to second set of cronies. Damage-wise it's not a problem, but window for damaging the boss is nearly non-existent. Bombs, globules, swirls etc everything is one-shotting. I don't get how to make cronies spawn in a compact area like in a youtube video where 641 arms was successfully doing this. They're stretched in line or appear in different corners.

This expac is a total roadblock. Failing at visions, failing in RBG, failing gettting invited to M+, and now at this. People who could achieve this in 30 tries are pure geniuses.

Let's recap this boss from a design standpoint :

-brann in dps spec doesn't do enough dmg to break the shell to prevent the +25% hp heal
-brann potions can barely be seen on the ground because everything else is orange red
-the boss stands on the kickable bombs so that you want to kick your head on the screen
-explosing bombs do zero damage on the adds if you didn't touched it
-the aiming is particularly bad especially when the ground is constantly filled with danger zones
-specifically awful for melee dps which have to wait at a wall while the boss keeps bouncing and running very slowly, allowing adds to add more chaos everywhere
-sloppy work on aoe effects, the effect stays long before and after the damage was launched, so we have zones everywhere that we don't know if they're safe or not

Leaving you judge. Anyone from blizzard reading that, what do you think of this design?

Actual tips:
-YOU WILL HAVE TO RESET THE DELVE AND RE-ENTER QUITE OFTEN. OTHERWISE THE ADDS WILL BUG AND SPAWN IN PLACES THAT MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO KILL THE BOSS
-brann healer
-do not go the healer/defensive tank route, you NEED to finish as fast as possible : max gear from vault at end of season, max damage tank or dps whatever you can dps the more on
-take the time to kick bombs on adds (do not kick blindly, you need 10 min extreme focus, this is the key aspect of the fight) with the Esc->Gameplay->Controls->Enable Interact Key + bind (note that you need to tick the box if you want the bind to work, another great UI choice from blizz)
-start close to one wall and when the adds are dead move to the next part of the room, do circles, but remember to move very far each time, lots of running when adds are dead, required
-do not waste too much time trying to kill all adds, do as much as you can but the priority is to kill the boss, or you'll still be there after 500+ tries
-the shield isn't random it's at specifics % hp afaik
-expect around 200 tries or 6-7 hours straight, have enough gold for repairs

With the new horrific visions enchant and an ilvl of 664, I finally decided to retry this fight. At first I attempted it with destro lock, but the casting windows are way too short so I switched to affliction for faster/more consistent damage. Used DPS Brann to speed things up, had to use soulburn/healthstone, dark pact, mortal coil and 3% leech to keep up with the damage. Took me nearly 60 tries, but it was far easier. Here are some hints that helped me.

1. Keep the boss near his downed minions so when the shield cycle comes up, the oil slicks he drops don't screw you on the next wave of minions.
2. Priority one is living (obviously). Don't take risks if you don't have to, sometimes its better to tank a minion blast than the flamethrower. DPS isn't worth dying for. Priority two is making sure there are no robot survivors to whittle away at you. Even one can throw you off for the rest of the fight. Wither with permanent duration helped with the weaker ones, but it's still vital.
3. NO VOIDWALKER. Not only will he kill it easily, the voidwalker has a terrible tendency of positioning the Underpin in that perfect realm where you can't viably get out of his flamethrower, or where he splits up his summons.
4. Don't stay too close to the fence., or the bombs with spawn there, making the shots harder (or near impossible) and giving you less dodging room.
5. Build a rhythm. All my attempts I either got crushed on the first shield/minion cycle, or almost made it. Once you master the rhythm of summons, shields and bombs, managing them becomes easy.

I was swearing at this guy for about an hour. Finally I changed to my pure single target MM spec dark ranger, popped every cooldown and pot/hero at pull. Got him down to about 60% before the CD's were over, kept focusing on clearing adds while whittling down him further. When I saw he was at 20% and i had no adds up i just focused him, kiting him away from the adds and staying on the move. Took 3 minutes 22 seconds as ilvl 666.

All jokes aside I just finished this achievement and I'm determined to help some people out, I accomplished this on an ilevel 659 balance druid and on my 140th attempt I was able to down this boss keep in mind that during this time I missed two of the shield phases so he healed for 50% of his health. Brann was level 58 Healer I used Footbombs and the bio print at level 4. so let's get into it because, Yikes this is gotta be long.

This fight is designed to be rage inducing, unfair and narcissistic, It's designed to make you lose your patience and give up, think of these achievements like the immortal title or Death's demise back in the wrath of the Lich King days. an inspiring quote I will share with you is one from Path of Exile "The pain is fleeting but victory is forever" in the end less than 1% of the Community will end up with these achievements, don't let history forget you because you became unpatient, got mad and gave up.

once the next set of delves come out you will no longer be able to obtain the mount or the title that nobody here seems to be talking about which is the title "The real deal" which you also get for downing him, Once again coming the next season you will not be able to obtain these and you will have them as a permanent flex and glory.

first let's talk about brann, if you haven't been pi**ed off 21 million times by him saying "I know you can do better than that! " " Next time let's keep a strategy in mind " and the infamous " next time let's use some harder hitting moves" that basically make you want to smash your keyboard into 50 pieces because he's ignorant and most likely caused your wipe. Please go ahead and download the "ShutUpBrann" addon that will completely kill all of his voice lines and text.

Speaking of Brann, let's get him set up while I did this encounter while he was level 58 apparently he gets a roll buff at level 60 so the first thing I would encourage is that everybody takes the time to do some T11's and get him to that level, this also gives you the chance to get your curios level 4 which I believe are mandatory Yes I've read that other people have did it with letter ranks but let's be honest here between the RNG and other garbage you don't need to make this fight harder.

You're going to want to use foot bombs for his first curio because at rank 4 he spawns 4 bombs and when you run over them they inflict 4.5 million damage to the underpin, the devilsaur a curio does not do jack crap, The taunt effect does not work and their damage is trash compared to the reliability of footbombs.

the second curio is of course the bioprint, when you kill one of the adds by yourself, let me say this again - by yourself not using the bombs but by your own abilities, you spawn up to two of these adds that will permanently stay on the boss and melee him for heavy damage, In my run these guys made up 28% of total damage inflicted upon him, the annoying part is is that you have to actually squeeze in the time to make sure that you yourself kill two of them but you have to do this on the 1st run of Adds or it's practically a wipe.

once you have got brann to 60 and acquire the Max level of these curious you've got that part settled Now let's get into the actual strategy that I used. I'm not going to mention the abilities I used as balance because I'm pretty certain that this strategy can work for any build and class.

I'm going to categorise the underpin into two attack style categories, The "Melee Phase" & "Casting Phase" then his "Shield phase".

During The "Melee Phase" phase he does not use any abilities and will pursue the player inflicting very high Melee damage, the trick to this phase is to stay as close to him as possible but without being able to be melee attacked, staying away from the underpin even if you are ranged is a very sure way that you will fail this encounter. this phase normally only lasts anywhere from 4 to eight seconds so pay attention.

During the "Casting Phase" he will most likely try to cook you with a flamethrower or crush, summon bombs, summon ads, summon more bombs, Flamethrower then crush, then he will cycle back into his Melee Phase, After that he rinse and repeats.

During "Shield phase" he stops attacking, stands still and puts up a barrier that lowers his defence allowing you to deal significantly increased damage to him, if you fail to break the shield, the boss heals for 25% of his health which is very discouraging So you want to make sure that you have burst available once every 45 seconds to a minute to be able to counter this, the boss seems to do this phase after he has done 2 sets of Melee phases and two casting phases, with one of the casting phases not summoning adds

Next let's talk about the arena, as we all know it's a rectangle football field, the only time you ever want to engage the underpin is when you are standing in one of the corners of this field, never under any circumstances have him be in the middle for any mechanics, you want to hug the walls, the reason that you want to stay close and near to him is because he summons bombs on top of himself, when he summons Adds on himself the bombs will be right on top of them

"The Pull" congratulations you finally made it! good luck and have fun!

So here we go! the start of the fight regardless whether you are ranged or melee, pull him and immediately open up with all of your burst, he starts in the Melee phase, so if you're close to him expect heavy damage pop defensives if necessary but make sure you get your burst in right now. while this is happening make sure you pull him to your first corner, he will then try to crush you and then after that he will go into his casting phase.

Continue to DPS him avoiding bombs that drop He will then summon Ads this is the most trickiest part of the encounter, kill three of the ads using 3 bombs and then kick 2 bombs into the remaining two adds, then by using your own DPS kill these two ads so that you can trigger your bioprints, immediately after this you must proceed to the next corner of the arena This is top priority do not worry about DPS on the boss your bioprints will start taking care of it.

once you make it to the next corner of the arena he will try to crush you Continue DPS ING him until he summons ads, focus ads and make sure that you destroy them all while avoiding mechanics, once the ads are down DPS the boss to trigger his shield phase, if it doesn't proceed to the next corner across the arena. Wait for the ads to appear and destroy them again and then push him, once the shield triggers go full burst DPS on him to destroy it.

Move to the last corner while avoiding oil and mechanics, at this point the entire fight is a rinse and repeat of this exact same thing, you prioritise adds stacking up, while doing most of your damage through bioprints and while his shield phases up, do this a good 7 to 10 times and you have got this.

IMPORTANT! People on here say get him to 25% and burn him, DONT! I wiped over 8 times at 15% and 10% at trying this! Wait for 5% in the clear then burn!

Never enter oil to kick bombs, bind Interact Key to something comfortable and don't run through dead fiery mechs. I am a Clicker guys and I still had this!

to help with bombs set an interact keybind in options > gameplay > controls:

check enable interact key
set the interact with target option. i used spacebar.
for brann i used Impact Conversion Matrix and L00T RAID-R
this is easier as a tank and mostly an exercise in frustration as melee dps

Not even gonna list all the problems here, this is just bad design and too much RNG to deal with. There shouldn't be situations when half the arena is in bomb swirlies, flamethrower cone, oil and bombs-about-to-explode all together so you forced to run god-knows-where to just stay alive. If you're trying to find The Underpin's lair for Let Me Solo Him: The Underpin, go to the Undermine and then directly north on the map (/way #2349 52.38, 9.42). The delve called Demolition Dome is where he is.

Note that you must have cleared a 7 delve with lives remaining in S2 to unlock ? difficulty, and a 10 in S2 with lives remaining to unlock ? difficulty.

That said, some background on the Let Me Solo Him: The Underpin name, deriving from the "Let Me Solo Her" meme:

It comes from an Elden Ring player who became legend in the community. He had so mastered the most difficult boss fight in the game (said to be the most unforgiving fight the devs had ever made) that he made a character named 'Let Me Solo Her' and--naked with a jar on his head--would come in to help people who signaled for help. He would indeed solo her as they stood on the sidelines, and never take a scratch. The game publisher later on honored him with some gifts, (including a katana!), after his 2,000th time helping someone with that boss.

Prot Paladin Underpin ? Guide | 640 ilvl / No addons! I watched this guide.

Did it as 665 Prot Paladin Templar. Followed everything from talents, rotations and to positioning from video. Also learned along the way while playing. Here's how I did it. I spent a week. Probably less than 30 tries. I just wanted a golden mount cuz I'm bullish on gold.

Bran Level 68 dps. Mechadinosaur and Bioprinter. My trinket is
Garbagemancer's Last Resort. I dunno how I got it. It was in my inventory. I used it cuz I felt It's a good burst for shield.

I spammed Divine Steed keybind and pressed A and D to avoid 1 shot flamethrower. Never run straight. Circle around Underpin.
Also in options, change status text to percentage so you see 100% Hp on boss and not 350m+ hp. This makes planning the fight ezier. Set your interact key. My interact key is T.
My keybinds for action bar 1 is 12345qefgxrt.

1. Burst him to 90% in the opener before 1st adds. Use Avenging Wrath.
2. Kill 1st sets of adds asap.
3. Move to nearby corner. Kick 2nd set of bombs because you need space to fight and dodge munitions and flamethrower.
4. Chip him.
5. Position yourself for bombs so you can 2-3 shots 2nd sets of adds.
6. At this point he should be 80-83% hp. Burst him with Bastion/Moment of Glory + trinket.
7. He will spill oil. Oil should be near dead adds.
8. Move to nearby corner. Move fast and far so Bran will teleport to you and Underpin will get to you with crush.
9. Repeat step 4 to 8.

As the fight continues, if you are killing adds asap, the fight became ezier because you have less mechanics to dodge. Underpin will cast less and spam shield every 45 secs. Alternate Avenging Wrath and Bastion/Moment of Glory + trinket every shield phase. His hp at shield phase will be 70-60-50-40...

I ignored adds at 10% and went all in cuz I felt that I had enough dps to down him and I did.

In summary.
Kill adds so you have lesser mechanics to deal with. Ezier to dodge munitions and flamethrower.
Alternate spells and burst shield Underpin near dead adds so oil spills there.
Move fast and far to clean area.
Position yourself again for bombs to kill adds asap.

I wiped at 90% hp. 80% hp. It slowly progressed to 30% 20% hp. I wiped at 2% hp. I started to feel the whole fight after that. I downed it after that a few tries. You just gotta follow other people's tactics, strats and develop a feel for it.

My rotation is not perfect or optimized because I main healer.
All I know is, avenger shield, judge and shield deal good single target dps. So I try to spam whatever's available.

Avenging Wrath > Eye of Tyr > then I spam judge, divine toll, avenger shield, hammer of light and shield. Spam judge and shield. Nothing to spam? Spam Hammer of righteous to build holy power and spam shield.

Bastion + Word of Glory > Eye of Tyr > then I spam judge, divine toll, avenger' shield, hammer of light and shield. Spam judge and shield. Nothing to spam? Spam Hammer of righteous to build holy power and spam shield.

Make sure you spam Word of Glory to heal yourself everytime or Bran or spam shield on underpin if you are full hp and safe. You need to spam them.

I downed it again with 671 pack leader bm hunter after my 661 templar prot paladin because I didn't want to think it was a fluke. It's not RNG.

Encounter knowledge:
1. Terrain is not flat.
2. Bombs spawn around you.
3. Adds spawn around underpin.
4. Bran will teleport to you if you are really far.
5. Underpin will use crush to get to you or walk to you if you are far.
5. Underpin freezes bomb so you can't kick.
6. Underpin shields at 80% and shields again when his energy is full.
7. Oil spills after you break the shield.
8. It's harder to move, dodge spells or kick bombs on oil.

You need to know these if you wanna get that sweet juicy golden mount and eternal bragging rights.

Opening Strategy:
1. Burst him to 90% before 1st set of adds.
2. Kill 1st set of adds asap.
3. Chip him to 83% before 2nd adds.
4. Kill 2nd set of adds asap.
5. Chip him to 80% hp.
6. When he shields, burst him.

There's a good reason why you need to execute this opening strat perfectly.
You don't wanna be bursting shield with adds around. It's ezier to dodge flamethrower and munitions. They can one shot you.
You don't wanna be bursting the first shield at 3rd, 4th or 5th adds. The next set of adds will spawn far away. You don't have time to get to them or nearby bombs to kill them.
So, master this opening strat. Master this and next strat is easy.

Next Strat:
1. Burst shield at 80% so oil spills near dead adds.
2. Move fast and far to nearby clean area.
3. Kill adds there.
4. You have roughly 45 seconds before the shield to kill adds and dodge spells.
5. Burst shield and move fast far to nearby clean area.
6. Repeat step 3 to 5.

You want the oil to be at dead adds. You don't want oil at new clean area. You want to be kicking bombs and dodging spells freely.
Adds 1st. DPS 2nd. If you do these 2 well, you will notice that you deal damage equal to 10% of underpin's health every 45 seconds. So at every 45 shield phase, you will notice underpin's health decreases to 70%, 60%, 50%.....
If you see that, you're on the right track. If you are wiping at 20% or 30% underpin's hp, you're there. Just stay calm, reflect and keep drilling.

Tactics:
How to kill adds asap?
Remember,
1. Bomb spawns near you.
2. Terrain is not flat. There's high and low ground.
3. Underpin gets to you with crush.
4. Adds spawn near underpin.

It's ez.
1. Get to clean nearby corner.
2. Stand on high ground.
3. Wait for underpin to cast bombs.
4. Congratz now the bombs are around you and on high ground.
5. Bran will teleport to you if you are far.
6. Now that both you and Bran are far, Underpin will walk to you or use crush.
7. Congratz now he's near you.
8. He's gonna spawn adds.
9. Congratz now adds are near your bombs.
10. Boom boom boom. Still alive? Stay near there for next sets of bombs. Boom.
11. DPS underpin asap.
12. If he shields near dead adds? Even better. Burst fast. Let oil spills near dead adds.
13. Repeat step 1 to 13.

The RNG problem many are experiencing is that adds spawn far away or at random places. When that happens, you've lost control of the fight and the rest is a mess.
Remember, adds never spawn randomly. They always spawn near underpin.

They spawn randomly because of Bran. You maybe in a clean area, ready to kick bombs, but if Bran is in the middle and underpin is attacking bran, adds will never spawn near you. They will spawn in the middle or worse, at either sides.. Your bombs will miss. Because it's far and there's uneven terrain stopping it.

I started having more successes when I realized I could force Bran to teleport to me. You have to force it. Don't wait for Bran to teleport or walk to you. You want to be in charge. You want to dictate where underpin goes, where adds and bombs spawn. Not Bran. Remember, you get the mount and eternal bragging rights. You're the real deal. Bran gets what? Bran gets back his hat.

I do this by
1. After killing 1st set of adds, I don't waste time beside dead adds. I move and use range attacks.
2. I move far and fast to clean corner. I keep moving away until Bran teleports to me.
3. When you and bran are together at a clean corner, everything will fall into place.
4. Underpin will use crush to get to you. Bombs spawn near you. Adds spawn near you.
5. Now it's just dancing.

Now you're the real deal. So, go get 'em, tiger!

Seems like Bioprinter is working for ranged classes now. Just cleared after 159 tries. Bioprinter did 81m dmg on Underpin with my Moonkin

For those still trying before it ends, don't give up:

I'm a veteran player, and even if the mount is cool, I really wanted to kill this dude at ? for my own personal goal. I mean, I've been playing since I'm a teenager, I know my classes by heart, no way I will give up on this kill.

I tried as boomkin, WW monk and Ele sham. In around 100 tries, I never got under 50%. Even tho I did the strat, I just couldnt break the f*cking barrier in time, for many reasons.

I almost gave up. I was so frustrated about how dumb this fight is.

But then, I gave it a try as healer, with my MW monk 655, and bran as DPS (mechasaur + bioprinter lvl4) .

Best decision ever. I just got it on the fifth try. Basically, did the bomb/adds mechanic while bran kills the boss.

Used Celestial conduit and a couple of kicks for a shield, and DPS trinket/Jade empowerement and a couple of kicks to break every other one.

Not a pleasant fight. Did it on a Ret Paladin. When the boss was under 20%, I just tried to burst him and ignored the adds. Worked.

But I can not say I liked the fight. To random. Not a pleasure. I don't want stuff easy or cheap. But in the end this is a game and the design of the fight is not made to enjoy a game.

Did the Underpin ?.? at the last minute, same as with Zekvir last season. I don't otherwise touch delves.

Did my research and followed all the advice (e.g. went as a Blood DK, iLvl 651, used consumables, looked at videos beforehand to get an idea of tactics etc., etc.) but I'm a slow learner and it took me many many attempts over two days before I really began to get the hang of the fight. I found kicking the bombs to be very fiddly and difficult to master (yes, I was using the interact keybind right from the start) and it wasn't until right at the end that I got comfortable positioning the boss and baiting the bombs and the adds to drop - more or less - where I wanted them.

So my main message is, don't despair if it feels like you're not making any progress at all; that's how I felt the whole time for two days (unlike with Zekvir, where I felt that I was learning and progressing, slowly but surely)

Most helpful videos were from Tanks For Watching's YouTube channel. The poor guy has under 2K subscribers but the content was top quality in my opinion

I used the addon MuteSoundFile to mute Brann's most annoying lines when you die (Sound IDs: 5768836, 5768837, 5768838, 5768849, 5768862, 5768863) which I found were really, really winding me up.

I started with Brann under level 40 and with Rank 2 curios but felt like I wasn't progressing and needed more help so I took a break and got Brann up to level 45 in the process of hunting down better curios. Most of my progress was with the Mechasaur EZ-Build Kit since that was the most highly recommended but I found that the same rank Goblomagnetic Bouncing Grenade more reliably for me, damage-wise. The other curio used was the Three Dimensional Bioprinter. Both curios were Rank 3 at time of kill. Oh, and Brann was in Combat/DPS mode

If you're using the Bioprinter don't obsess about getting it activated (using a low-health crony) early on. I got killed many times doing that. It's better to concentrate on keeping it simple and just quickly killing all the cronies. That curio really comes into its own when The Underpin himself goes below 40% health.

Positioning is the big one: once you've killed the first gang of cronies you need to kite the Underpin along the fence to a fresh patch of ground. Do this every time you kill a gang of cronies. If he summons a new gang near the burning corpses of the previous gang, the new gang members will split up all across the arena. If you are in a fresh patch of ground, away from corpses, the new cronies will spawn closer together, sometimes even in a nice tight bunch, ripe for killing.

I hated this fight so god damn much I want to friggin scream. Zek'vir was annoying, frustrating, but there was an element of fun to it. You were fighting HIM. Attacking HIM. No running around like a god damn chicken with yoru head cut off trying to click bombs, and dps add. not having to pop a shield every 10 percent, I'd take a kick over this god damn mechanic even if it was on a short cast time.

I have been frustrated, disliked, didn't care for, and annoyed at fights, but never outright hated a fight as much as I hate the ? Underpin. You more than enough to worry about, and the oil slicks just felt like bridge too far.

Definitely recommend the Mechasaur and Bioprinter curios, the mechasaurs did 59.7% of my DPS Brann's damage and the Bioprints did 20.6% of mine (low as a tank by adds up still).
