Got my Let Me Solo Him: The Underpin Achievement Last Night from Defeating The Underpin on Tier ? Mode.
The Underpin Did Not Drop Delver's Gob-Trotter Schematic: Gold Neither was this item appearing in my Inventory upon defeat of The Underpin + Nothing in my ingame mailbox.

Breaking the Bank is rewarding as intended from defeating The Underpin on Tier ? Mode.
The Underpin would atleast drop Golden-Gob Propulsion Rig on Tier ? Mode as the achievement reward says so.

Adds can spawn outside of the arena and not in it at all. So you can't kill them and you don't see red lines where the fire balls are coming from. Just an fyi. I didn't expect to kill it so early on, but you can only survive so much of that. Brann 100% useless. Probably needs to be higher than 62 to be able to take some hits.

Is it me or is Brann just completely incapable of staying alive against this guy? Tbf mine is only level 47, but at the lower difficulty tier that sure seems like it should be enough.

If you are melee, the biggest issue of this fight is the boss hitbox being so big it will prevent you from interacting with the bombs on the ground. So keep this in mind !

The fight is all about maintaining reasonable number of adds, preferably none. The adds can be killed by kicking bombs into them. The bombs do approx 1/3 of their health, and 3 bombs are all needed. If you see adds being summoned, quickly locate them and prioritize kicking bombs to them. The only time you should put the boss on priority when you see adds is when the boss is attempting to recharge. You want to prevent him recharging because it will heal 25% of his max health. Then quickly back to kicking bombs.

From my experience, the adds tend to spawn close to boss proximity, preferable edging towards the walls of the arena. But I have also seen attempts where the adds are spread on the other end of the arena, so I am not sure if it's random or bug.

The boss also creates oil sludge in the arena after he jumps, and this sludge will mess up your movement (causing you to slide and slowing you down). If the bombs land on the sludge, you need to take into account your slide momentum, or you may mess up your kick direction.

Try to kite the boss slowly after he creates the sludge, not too far from the wall (but also not too close). Just keep circling around the arena slowly and don't move too much if you don't have sludge. That way, when the adds spawn, they are most likely to be bunched together close to the wall where you are standing. Then it is a lot easier to kick the bombs to them. The sludge seemed to be permanent because they only despawned after either I died or I defeated him. So you don't want to be dragging the boss all over the place because you risk the adds spawning far from each other and the boss covering the arena with oil sludge everywhere.

Depending on how much dps you do, you may want to save your cooldown when the boss is recharging. That way you ensure you always destroy the shield (which is 10% of the boss' max health) and interrupt him.

In my attempts, Brann was 100% useless if he was in Tank or DPS spec, because he would stand in aoe and just died within 20 seconds into the fight. When he was back, another 10 seconds or so after that and he died again. The best was his heal spec, which somehow allowed him to survive almost the entire fight. My Brann was level 52 when I defeated the boss.

The fight is about executing mechanics properly. Avoid flamethrower aoe. The adds shoot molten cannon ball, and if you don't control the adds, when there are too many of them, you will spend time trying to dodge those molten balls, which may mess up with you avoiding the flamethrower. If you need a breather a bit, the adds can be cc'ed.

Once you bring the boss down to certain health that you know you can confidently burst the boss with all your cooldown, you should take this call and ignore the adds (keep dodging the molten balls) and focus fire the boss.

Don't forget to buff yourself. Use flask, use food, augments if you need. You don't want to repeat the whole thing just because you didn't fully buff up.

** First of all you should nuke the boss as much as possible at start. We are trying to overlapping all abilities at start for avoid bugs. (Yes, it is.) **

Spell List >

Ascendance -> On every big burst cycle after absorb shield.
Storm Elemental -> On Cooldown (It's always overlapping absorb shield when you proper burst at start.
Primordial Wave & Ancestral Swiftness -> If you don't have enough DPS for shield, use these on shield, otherwise on CD.
Spiritwalker's Grace -> For bombs and while dodging swirlies.
Earth Elemental -> Panic Button, do not forget to move it.
Stormkeeper -> Only for absorb shield
All of other spells are depends on situation.

Playstyle

You should start near to the entrance. (Not door..)
BL not neccessary on this fight but you can use it on start or end of the fight (10-15% HP)

Start bursting the boss. Then dodge the swirlies.
Bombs and adds will spawn while you are dodging swirlies.

You should throw bombs to adds as much as possible. Our first important focus!
After you destroy all of adds, we going to keep DPS until 80% , boss will cast "Absorb Shield" . After destroying the shield, boss will drops puddles. Locate these puddles around the corpses.

If you drops puddles properly, you can move to "2" as much as possible. You should stay closer to wall and drag the boss to near of the "2" . Boss will start to cast "Bombs & Swirlies" and then "Adds"

Note : If everything correct, boss will spawn adds like a row (1-2-3-4-5) , if something went wrong (bug) , one or more adds will spawn in another location. You should focus to "Group Adds" first and then solo one.
Adds are dying when you throw 3 bombs.

If you destroyed all of adds, boss will cast "Absorb Shield" again, we gonna break it faster, locate puddles and then move to other location "3" . This cycles keeps continue until end.

Note 2 : If fight will be longer than 6 min, adds can spawn out of area. (Think it like Enrage phase and nuke the boss if you close to kill. Watch your feet.)

Example Cycle ;

1) Start to boss.
2) Burst him!
3) Dodge swirlies, wait for add & bomb spawn.
4) Throw bombs and destory adds. 1 will left, and you will have 2 bombs, throw its and wait for next wave.
5) After killing the last one, burst the boss until 80% (Boss must be at this HP after last add down.)
6) Boss will cast "Absorb Shield", destroy it. Let him drop puddles around corpses.
7) Drag boss to area "2"

Skip steps 1 -2 and keep going.

Tips

Do not trust to Brann, just use him "HP Potions" when you are getting melee from boss, take them one by one.
Do not try to ress or heal Brann. If you can handle boss, he will never die again cuz boss will keeps follow you.
Safety first, stop DPS if needed for stay alive.
If you can hit 18-20% HP on every minute, you can kill the boss easily. Focus to min-max your dps.

Pro Tips

If you have class/spec and M+ experience (For Stormbringer build) you should play "Stormbringer" instead of "Farseer"
It's significantly hitting more damage than Farseer build. I killed "The Underpin" under 5 min.

Some comments for this as of 3/15/2025

-Try to keep the boss by the fence and follow the outside area clockwise/counter (This keeps robots cleaner)

-Use an interact key for bombs rather than manually clicking them (search "interact" in your gameplay options menu)
Walk to a bomb and click your key to kick it. Helps a lot while moving

-Try to kick bombs toward the robots in the middle of the pack

-"Loot Raid-R" Curio is good to help with damage as well the bioprints (be sure to hit the robots when they are low health to spawn two bioprints)

TBH there's a lot of RNG here and sometimes the stars align to annihilate you. The fight has bugs, Brann issues, positioning problems, weird robot spawns, easier for some classes than others, etc.

I haven't been able to see why but every time I've tried ? as BM Hunter, he hits my pet for 60 million dmg as soon as it spawns. I tried using Brann as tank to mitigate this from happening but he'll swap off Brann and one shot my pet within seconds of me sending it in. Any thoughts?

Some PoC trys to see if its doable and ended on defeat at 3rd... No flask, no food, no prepot... Just do the mechanics, dodge, move, kick bombs. 7 min combat.

I expects some new habs at ~25%, but the combat its exacly the same from beggining to end...

I recommend to start to kick bombs asap the adds lands, the fast you kill, the better quality of life :)
Also, move away from the last spot to avoid some adds spawn at one side and someone at the other side (where Jesus Christ lost his ligther).

Alright, so this was challenging for me as a BM hunter even with 650 ilvl, which I know is more than enough. I've been a casual player for near 20yrs & just last season delved (heh) into end-game stuff. As everyone else said it's all mechanics which is the hardest part for some of us. Timing, timing, timing. My biggest advice is to keep yourself as tight to Underpin as possible without stepping in crap. At first I was running WAY too far away from him and the cone of fire was at its widest, making it much harder to dodge. Run THROUGH him to get opposite his casts, kick the bombs away from you & towards crony's/adds, preferably in the same direction to lessen your explosion zones, and as goofy as it is, I made myself an action bar above all else with Mend Pet & Revive Pet and constantly hit them through the entire fight, because I needed my pets up to aggro him / keep him away from me as much as possible. Like others said, the moment he starts to cast his shield, do nothing else but hit him with everything you've got until its down. Also running it over and over will teach you the routine as frustrating as it is, so don't give up! Hope any of this helps :)

Done him as 648 Havoc DH rather quickly because of high mobility provided by that class imho. Double Fel Rush, The Hunt are highly recommended with equipment speed buffs like 10%+.
The tactics is rather simple. Just DPS him and try to kick some bombs towards robots while avoiding red rays and purple pools. I also tried to DPS him asap while he became shielded.

Brann's build was Healer and included in my case Overdrive Pylon and Pinged Augment Chip. The last one is a must have spell. Good luck!

Absolutely not easier than Zekvir, at all. Primarily because he blocks the main gimmick half the time by standing on the bombs and then I can't click them.

Just wanted to add as a blood tank I went with Three Dimensional Bioprinter on Brann and went out of my way to kill atleast 1 add with my own spells to get a copy as they accounted for 40% of my dmg and ripped through his shield when I couldnt hit him.

If you are playing a rogue, casting vanish can sometimes reset the boss for no reason. Seemed to have happened near the edges of the arena, but can't consistently replicate it.

Just a word of caution for outlaw players who cast vanish every 20 seconds for their rotation.

To get to this guy, go up the ramp at the back right of the world boss room, and then you will see a bit staircase spectator seating area; there's a little hole under the right hand side of those steps that leads to this delve.

Once you're inside, the Brann configuration box is at the south-east corner of the map, and next to that is a wee doorway leading to the boss.

Just beat him as an Arcane Mage (Spellslinger) at 559 Item Lvl.
He's not tough at all and hits light but the adds, if not handled, will destroy you fast. Like one shot you. As will he if you dont avoid his jump crush and flamethrower.

Key things for success are;
1. Crony spawns. Kick the bombs at them asap. Dont delay at all. Ignore the boss and kill those adds asap! Thats your primary focus. If you dont, you cant survive.
2. When he shields up dps him asap so he doesnt heal. Use Magi and then missles/barrage. He will shield at 75, 50 and 25% hp. If he heals it means more work.
3. If he shields and there are adds active then focus on the add spawns. If they stay alive and there are bombs and oil everywhere you will die.

He's actually pretty easy when you get used to the fight dynamics. His health goes down fast and he really hits lame.
Even as a Mage and Brann healing he hardly gets ur health down unless you catch a bomb or partial flamethrower.
The real killer is the adds. Take em out fast. Then avoid his one shot kill attacks and dps away.

(one ?)

I'm not a Raider, Mythic, or Mythic+ runner. Pretty strict on being a casual player so *for me* the mechanics, while really easy to a Raider most likely, we're really hard for me...

My tips:

#1: Pull him to the wall - and try to stay by the wall the entire fight...
#2: You'll have to run around the entire ring because of the oil slicks on the ground that pop up, the expiration of the bombs (HUGE explosions), and the semi random landings of the adds... (If you stay close to the wall - they will land right by the wall usually huddled somewhat together)...
#3: Try to use ONE bomb to hit as many of the adds as you can (there are only 3 at a time but build up quick if you don't kill them)
#4: He has a shield that pops (he'll yell: "TIME OUT TIME OUT!") - it's a big blue shield -THIS IS WHEN YOU WANT TO BURST DPS him so save your cds... If you fail to dps all the shield buffer off - he gain 25% health back...
#5: After you get him to 25% - ignore EVERYTHING. Just duck, dodge, dip, and........dodge while trying to dps as hard as you can.

A few notes about his damage:
#1: He doesn't hit hard so you can take a few punches to the face if you have to no problem
#2: When the golden circle appears on the ground - he'll launch and land right in the middle. If you're there - you'll usually die because it stuns you and then other damage hits you...
#3: His frontal fire cone is EASILY, super easily avoidable... When he's about to fire it off - run through him (which is to say - stay close to him as much as you can). You can also strafe to either side about a foot and it will miss you OR - you can run away a little ways because the damage distance isn't very far in front of him... In fact the damage seems to be centered. I was sure I was going to be hit standing right on the edge of the flame (by accident) - and never took damage...

It might take a few tries...or 20 tries...or a 100.....................................................................................................just remain calm, have a good distraction and keep determined... (I have the background noise of TWITCH going... Usually a retro streamer)

But good luck. Keep trying over and over and over and you will get it.
ALSO - there's an ACH for the kill *AND* this does count for "GLORY OF THE DELVER"...I have a few others to get but I have read that you don't need BOTH kills... If you missed the first one (one time) - this one counts for both... But we'll see. If it does or doesn't - I will try to remember to add a comment on the Glory of the Delver post.

A few tips for BM Hunters :)

Have your pets on Passive, and pull him with an autoshot to the side of the arena, and keep auto shooting while dodging, until he starts firing the bombs, then go full ham with your pets.
The start will become more smooth, because he's less likely to oneshot your pets. But have your Revive Pet and Mend Pet on a keybind, because he will likely kill it a couple of times when you get further into the fight. Getting a weakaura that alerts you if your pet is dead, is also a good idea in case you get tunnelvision and miss out on a shield because your pet is lying dead.

Save your cooldowns for shield. Use bombs on the shield as well.
Use pets with BL and use that if you've run out of cooldowns during shield uptime. Save Tempered Potion for extra kick or if you run out of other options.
Stick to the side of the wall as much as possible and don't run too far from him, so you can avoid his frontal better.
Enable the Interact Key in your Control Options and keybind it to your liking - this was a gamechanger for me. You will just need to walk up to a bomb and click the keybind to kick it, instead of clicking the bombs. I had way too many attempts before figuring this one out. Probably took me around 10 attempts once I added this. I had it bound to a key on my Naga mouse. It was so much better!
Save Turtle for oh-&*!@ moments. Especially if you find yourself getting trapped in a cluster of bombs and a frontal.
Use your food, flask and oil.

And most importantly... don't panic. Especially once you get him below 25%. Just keep the adds down to a minimum with the bombs, and focus your dps on him.
It's very RNG based, so you just gotta keep trying until the odds are in your favor :)

My Bran was lvl 59 Healer, and used the Goblin Death Bomb and Biofuel Rocket Gear. And I was running pure single target build with Pack Leader, at iLevel 661. You can do this at much lower, though, if you have a good chaos management ability :D
Brann didn't die on me at all, so I am definitely happy I wanted for him to get higher.

No, you're not bad. It's just a horribly designed fight. Bombs dropping in the wrong places. Flamethrower cone is purposely obscured and difficult to see. Objects obscuring your vision. Bombs spawning on top of oil. It's meant to keep you frustrated and annoyed. Not very fun.

My advice, just don't ever go to middle. Stay along the edges of the arena and go around in circles.

643 Ret Pally - enable interact key in the settings, pull boss to the edge of the ring and follow in clockwise rotation, take care of adds immediately with bombs using interact key until the last 15% where you just pump damage on boss. Got it after 3 or 4 tries. Goodluck!

Just solo'd first difficulty as a ilvl 625 Bdk. Just kite edge of arena clockwise, Kick bombs torwards adds using interact key so that the bosses hitbox doesnt keep you from kicking the bombs. Easy Peasy.

Two person party: Frost DK, Shadow Priest
Brann: Level 51 Healer, Pocket Factory, LOOT- RAID-R
Difficulty: ?

1) "Tank" (DK) tanks boss around the arena's edge (and only there). Start tanking the boss by going left from when you walk in. Priest follows behind them or more near the center of the arena.

2) Ranged (Priest) is responsible for clearing adds with bombs. Set your interact key to something easy to reach (like "F"). Priest's priority is to clear adds first by kicking bombs at them, then whittle the boss down. (DK can help out or kick bombs away if they're underfoot, but that's a bonus)

3) Don't use PI immediately or major CDS. Keep DPS light/save your major cooldowns but whittle the boss down. Avoid any glowing lines or circles on the ground, avoid cones (go to side or walk through the boss), kick bombs at adds. DK has to lead boss away from puddles and do light DPS.

4) Once the Boss' Blue Shield pops up, both players blow all CDs. Use Power Infusion on the DK (copies to yourself), and use void torrent, void eruption, mind flay, shadow word: death, etc. Anything that hits hard and can quickly break the shield before the boss heals.

5) If there's adds that you can't get to (too far away), just wait to come circling back to them. Ranged tag them, then kick bombs. You can leave one up at least.

6) Repeat previous steps.

One of the worst game design i've seen in years. Same boss for all classes/specs/roles. You barely fight the boss you spend your time throwing tiny bombs on adds that have weird spawn.
How can Blzizard make Mage tower then bring this abomination to the game. Did they even try it before they ship it to live servers?

When I beat Zekvir ?.? I didn't share my thoughts until after I beat him. As I am working on Underpin now, I figured I would share some things that have helped me.

-Do not be afraid to take a break. I found this helpful against Zekvir and I find it helpful against Underpin. Sometimes your brain needs a break.

-If you are struggling with kicking bombs, go in without a flask or food buff and just focus on that alone. After you have improved on that, then focus on the fight. You can set an interact with target key in the options, controls page so you don't have to click them.

-Until I really had a grasp on the fight, I did not use flasks, food or weapon buffs. This is just to save $$.

-If you are using an addon that shows how many attempts against Underpin after every death, turn it off, it is not going to help you feel better about this fight.

-If Brann's talking all the time is driving you crazy, get the addon "Delver" from Curseforge.

-If you use Weak Auras, a nice fight notification helper is, "The Underpin" by moona.

-For my Ret Paladin, after using Flask of Alchemical Chaos I discovered I get better dps results with Flask of Tempered Swiftness .

-My preferred food is Beledar's Bounty , this is a haste buff for me.

-Make sure you eat Brann's food he is cooking. This gives you a "Well Fed" food buff stat in addition to your own food's buff. You can eat both at the same time.

-I use addon "Turnin" from Curseforge -- this is a great addon and for this I set it up to navigate the Explorer's League Supplies box menu to automatically repair my gear when I click the box.

Stay after it!

Did the Underpin ?.? at the last minute, same as with Zekvir last season. I don't otherwise touch delves.

Did my research and followed all the advice (e.g. went as a Blood DK, iLvl 651, used consumables, looked at videos beforehand to get an idea of tactics etc., etc.) but I'm a slow learner and it took me many many attempts over two days before I really began to get the hang of the fight. I found kicking the bombs to be very fiddly and difficult to master (yes, I was using the interact keybind right from the start) and it wasn't until right at the end that I got comfortable positioning the boss and baiting the bombs and the adds to drop - more or less - where I wanted them.

So my main message is, don't despair if it feels like you're not making any progression at all; that's how I felt the whole time for two days (unlike with Zekvir, where I felt that I was learning and progressing, slowly but surely)

Most helpful videos were from Tanks For Watching's YouTube channel. The poor guy has under 2K subscribers but the content was top quality in my opinion

I used the addon MuteSoundFile to mute Brann's most annoying lines when you die (Sound IDs: 5768836, 5768837, 5768838, 5768849, 5768862, 5768863) which I found were really, really winding me up.

I started with Brann under level 40 and with Rank 2 curios but felt like I wasn't progressing and needed more help so I took a break and got Brann up to level 45 in the process of hunting down better curios. Most of my progress was with the Mechasaur EZ-Build Kit as that was the most highly recommended but I found that the same rank Goblomagnetic Bouncing Grenade worked better for me. The other curio used was the Three Dimensional Bioprinter. Both curios were Rank 3 at time of kill. Oh, and Brann was in Combat/DPS mode

If you're using the Bioprinter don't obsess about getting it activated (using a low-health crony) early on. I got killed many times doing that. It's better to concentrate on keeping it simple and just quickly killing all the cronies. That curio really comes into its own when The Underpin himself goes below 40% health.

Positioning is the big one: once you've killed the first gang of cronies you need to kite the Underpin along the fence to a fresh patch of ground. Do this every time you kill a gang of cronies. If he summons a new gang near the burning corpses of the previous gang, the new gang members will split up across the arena. If you are in a fresh patch of ground, away from corpses, the new cronies will spawn closer together, sometimes even in a nice tight bunch, ripe for killing.

Finally, I'm a great believer in taking some time off between sessions to let my brain process things. That includes sleeping on it. Might work for you too?
