Each Black Market Auction can be up to 24 hours. The length of an auction is similar to the regular Auction House (Very Long, Long, Medium, and Short). People can extend the auction's duration by bidding in the last 30 minutes.

Items on the Black Market Auction House are realm-specific, shared on connected realms, and open to both factions.

Users cannot put items for sale on the Black Market Auction House--instead they are at the mercy of what Blizzard decides to display each day!

There is no buyout option so be prepared to make some quick last-minute bids on popular items other users are after.

Each type of item has a different pre-set starting bid range, with fairly-common pets at , tabards and shirts at , Tier 3 transmog items at , uncommon pets and toys at , and rare pets and mounts at .

Sawbones Shirt was initially available from Scholomance, but was removed when the instance was revamped in Mists of Pandaria. You can only obtain this unique long-sleeved red shirt via the BMAH.

Epic Purple Shirt is a Trading Card Game item and the only other way to obtain this item is to pay money for the code. This has a unique purple design with an on-use flex effect.

Sun-Lute of the Phoenix King is guitarist's Sig Nicious instrument. With a distinctive gold guitar pattern, this two-handed axe also has great stats for a lvl 85 and it can be upgraded several item levels as well. In addition, the on use effect, Sun-Lute's Song, makes you break out a performance complete with guitar riff sounds, and transform into Sig Nicious. While Warlocks cannot equip this weapon, they can purchase it so their Felguard uses it with Glyph of Felguard.

Arcanite Ripper is guitarist's Bergrisst instrument. With a distinctive spooky skeleton motif, this two-handed axe also has great stats for a lvl 70. It was briefly available during the Wrath of the Lich King pre-launch event and now can only be found on the BMAH. The on use effect, Arcanite Ripper, transforms you into Bergrisst and makes you break out a performance complete with green fire and guitar riff sounds.

Flintlocke's Blasthammer is Fargo Flintlocke's weapon and looks like a gun that doubles as a hammer. However, Alliance players interested in this gun for transmog purposes are better served getting Blunderbuss of Khaz Modan instead as it will be much cheaper.

Container

Darkmoon Ticket Fanny Pack contains 400-500 Darkmoon Prize Ticket, with a starting bid of .

Unclaimed Black Market Container is a mystery item which can contain any currently-listed item on the BMAH. You could get lucky...or get an item you already have or an armor piece you can't use.

Vendors

Breanni from Warcraft Pets sells all the Argent Tournament pets.

Dran Droffers and Malton Droffers of <Droffers and Son Salvage> in Orgrimmar list many Tier 3 pieces. They are references to the junk dealers from 70s sitcom Sanford and Sons

Jasper Fel, a Stormwind poison vendor, sells Druid Tier 3.

Landro Longshot, the NPC who redeems TCG codes, sells TCG items.

Quincy Cutler, a Stormwind bartender wearing a top hat and tux with shorts and flipflops, sells some Tier 3.

Mei Francis, a Dalaran vendor who sells exotic mounts, as well as the mailer behind Celestial Steed and Reins of the Albino Drake, sells various mounts.

Wodin the Troll-Servant from the Ring of Blood sells Zena's kittens.

Elusive Goblin leader Trade Prince Gallywix sells crafting patterns.

Madam Goya sells the Unclaimed Black Market Container which can contain any item from the BMAH.

Sig Nicious, the Blood Elf guitarist for the Tauren Chieftans, sells his own instrument Sun-Lute of the Phoenix King.

Bergrisst, the Undead guitarist for the Tauren Chieftans, sells his own instrument Arcanite Ripper.

San Redscale, the Order of the Cloud Serpent quartermaster in Pandaria, previously sold Grimoire of the Four Winds (no longer available as it's learned automatically).

Caladis Brightspear, the questgiver for A Victory For The Silver Covenant in Icecrown, sells Battered Hilt which starts that quest.

Silas Darkmoon, the founder of the Darkmoon Faire, sells Darkmoon Ticket Fanny Pack so players can buy even more items from the Faire.

Fargo Flintlocke, one of the numerous references to the Flintlocke Comic Series, sells his Flintlocke's Blasthammer.

Gnok the Inept, another reference to Gonktarget of the Knog's Bow of Ineptitude weapon series, sells Mythic Blackrock Foundry gear.

Gamon, hero of Orgrimmar and an important figure in Siege of Orgrimmar, sells Kor'kron Shaman's Treasure.

Majordomo Executus, a powerful flamewaker second in command to Ragnaros, sells Illusion: Flames of Ragnaros.

Tracking Vanity Collections on WowheadWowhead's ProfilerChanges to the BMAH in Shadowlands

As of Shadowlands, only max-level players (as of Shadowlands, level 60) are able to access and bid on items on the Black Market Auction House.

Changes to the BMAH in Battle for Azeroth

In Battle for Azeroth, players became able to access the Black Market remotely by using Encrypted Black Market Radios. These radios can be created with Junkyard Tinkering from Mechagon, with the Blueprint for them, Blueprint: Encrypted Black Market Radio, obtainable by completing three Mechagon dailies with Steelsage Gao. Watch out for when he visits the island!

Changes to the BMAH in Warlords of Draenor

You can access the BMAH in your Garrison. The Naval Mission Black Market Journal sends you on a quest which grants Black Market Auction House access in your Garrison. You CANNOT use the Garrison BMAH to bid on items, but it is a quick way to check what items are available for the day without the need to travel to the Black Market locations or using a Black Market radio.

Would love to see some info about the difference of the three available BMAH boxes in the Container submenu. (2 of them are already listed in this guide)

We still can find all three in WoD's BMAH from time to time, with different starting prices.

The guide I have been waiting for! Very insightful and helpful, thank you!

Comment by sigprof

Raid gear links need to be updated for the item level change hotfix (695 → 700).

Yet another fantastic guide from Wowhead - thanks a lot! \o/

Comment by tissetrolden

why the #$%^ do you say that Landro Longshot is a vendor and that he sells TCG items ?
you cant by any thing at him all you can is Redeem codes....

Comment by 509426

Am I wrong in thinking that there's a pet missing from the guide? I thought that the Thundering serpent hatchling was available on the BMAH. I've never seen it myself, but since I didn't manage to get it in MoP I was really hoping to some day be able to snatch it on the BMAH.

Comment by Salem

Nice, they finally added this back.

Comment by Ozzayel

Anyone know if there's a way to get low level characters to Nagrand to use the BMAH in WoD?
I know you could do it MoP but not seen anything about in this expansion.

Thanks.

Comment by vivisecting

I've been looking everywhere for this information: when are the items listed? Whenever I log on for the day (5pm on my server usually) the auctions are just finishing up and usually they're all gone.

Comment by 1458595

How often do the items in the Auction house change?

Comment by Elgar72

I'm going to ask a really dumb question... If you bid on an item and win, do you have to how up and pick it up within a certain time frame or does it go into one of those "Unclaimed" boxes and you're screwed on the gold?

Comment by vyndrian

I had heard quite a rumor that the Black Proto-Drake was available only in the Unclaimed boxes...can anyone confirm or deny?

Comment by SomeoneSneaky

Fun fact: Aviana's Feather will get you from your garrison, right to the door to the BMAH, by flying across the Zangar Sea!

Edit for Alliance (really though, you should go Horde \m/ ) -- Aviana's Feather will also get you to the area if you use it at Joz's Rylaks or the Throne of Elements, basically where you land on arrival.

Comment by AveryZan

Thanks for doing this. I was wondering do you know of any sites with a bmah history? what item sold date e.t.c? the only one I can find is http://www.wowbmah.com/history.aspx . this only works for pve realms though would be great to find for other. Thank you

Comment by 1453431

I'm confused, what do you mean Mei Francis is the mailer behind Celestial Steed and some other mounts?
I've heard people got mounts in the mail sent to them by her just a few weeks ago and I'm curious how that happened.

Comment by Notaturnip

From this guide it looks like Sha, Galleon and Nalak's mounts all turn up on the BMAH - does anyone know if Oondasta's mount is on the loot table?

Edit: It appears that Oon's mount isn't on the loot table, in case you were wondering (like I was). Here's hoping for Legion!

Comment by MajesticXII

You can access the BMAH in your Garrison in 6.2. The Naval Mission Black Market Journal sends you on a quest which grants Black Market Auction House access in your Garrison.

What a lame change. Just one more reason to not leave the garrison. I guess they are bowing to supercasuals whining about opposing faction at the BMAH and actually having to PvP on a PvP server. Jeez.

Comment by 1342189

I would love to know when new items are posted on BMAH. Does anyone know if there's a certain time interval for items to be posted? Or does the BMAH puts all new stuff up at 0:00?

Comment by TizTheThing

I can confirm in now on the black market auction house as of patch 6.2 one is up today on Azjol-Nerub - US

Comment by 1479661

You forgot to list Gamon as a vendor, he sells the shaman set.

Comment by ferib

Each type of item has a different pre-set starting bid range, with fairly-common pets at 1,000, tabards and shirts at 5,000, Tier 3 transmog items at 10,000, uncommon pets and toys at 15,000, and mounts at 20,000.

I saw a common pet for 1g ;_;

Comment by Thewes

So, regarding the changes made in 6.2, this guide says you can access the BMAH from your garrison, which is half true. The representative only lets you see what is there; you are unable to make bids from the representative at your garrison, which pretty much makes them worthless.

Can this post please be formatted with tables. It's hard to follow!

Comment by Sarthorius

On Mimiron's Head line on "how to obtain" section, its needed for the person to do Yogg Saron on Hard Mode (without talking and accepting help from any of the four titanic watchers, Freya, Thorin, Mimiron, Hodir), instead of Heroic, which the raid doesn't have, and may still confuse some people.

Never seen Reins of the Rusted Proto-Drake in BMAH at least on my server, since it's from a still obtainable META Ulduar achievement.

Comment by 907679

It would seem new items in the BMAH are listed at 2:30 AM SVT if anyone was wondering, at least on my server. I'm not sure if this is server based (new items on all servers at 2:30) of if its based on Pacific time via Blizzard, so feel free to comment with your own times so we can figure it out :)

Comment by Pwuebear

The minimum bid to win any BMAH item is actually a bit less than what you've listed and it is also marginally less than 5% to increase the last bid. The correct values are 953,016 gold as the minimum bid and 4,935%~ increased bid values. So if you're in the business of saving and making gold...

Comment by jjanchan

With the gold cap being increased to 10,000,000 gold in Legion, any signs of the BMAH max bid being increased from 999,999 g as well?

Comment by Pelontir

As of patch 7.0.3 Madam Goya moved to the new Dalaran (she is located in the Underbelly). We can't get there at the moment.

So we have to wait with using the BMAH till Legion hits or maybe earlier when invasions arrive.

Comment by Shubi

I obtain all Mage T3: Frostfire Regalia set items from this Black Market Auction House.
The other items that match this Xmog set are:

Staff: Soulseeker (no longer available)
Staff: Edict of Argus (best replacement)
Sword: Hailstorm
Off-hand: Talisman of Kalecgos (glows good ingame, but not on WoWhead)
Cloak: Harefoot Pinnacle Wrap (looks good ingame, but not on WoWhead)
Tabard: Tabard of Frost (unnecessary)

Good luck! :)

Comment by jamesevarts3

what is the new min "max bid" since the gold cap increase to 9,999,999g99s99c

Comment by 1767324

You actually (theoretically) only need to bid 952381 gold for nobody to outbid you. While it's significantly not much more, it's still 1619 less gold, which is, for example, roughly equivalent to enchanting neck with mark of the ancient priestess.

Calculation: 999999 / 1.05 = 952380 gold. This means that 952380 + 5% = 999999. So add 1, and you're set: 952381.

Comment by Ezekeel

Madam Goya links are outdated, Legion version is here.

Comment by Thorwen

Out of all these damn items, how the hell do I always end up getting warlock and priest tier 3 on my warrior from the BMAH container! xD

Comment by LSavage

In the past it was possible to guarantee a winning bid by bidding enough that a 5% increase would push the minimum bid over the gold cap limit (9,999,999g). However that has been changed and the minimum bid is now set to the gold cap for any current bid where a 5% increase would push it over gold cap.

TL;DR: If you want to guarantee a winning bid that no one can outbid, you need to bid gold cap 9,999,999g

Comment by OdellaRedbird

Does anyone know if there is a set rotation for the items on the BMAH? I am trying to collect a particular transmog and did not know if the items were on a set schedule or if the daily selections were random.

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere and I missed it.

Comment by Moorningwood

Both Tusks of Mannoroth and First Satyr's Spaulders drop in Heroic difficulty as well. Not only Mythic difficulty.

Comment by Llyrellenya

People can extend the auction's duration by bidding in the last 30 minutes.

Just wanted to mention that this is not the case. I made a bid on an auction when the timer said "Short" and followed it closely from then on. I was outbid with only a few minutes left. I set a timer for 25 minutes to check back, as my best assumption based on the above quote was that the timer would be reset to the 30-minute "Short" timer. Within five minutes, the auction had closed and I had lost. In conclusion, the timer is not extended when someone makes a bid.

EDIT: Why do people downvote without replying? If I'm incorrect, please state that, and explain how what I said is incorrect. I have a specific experience that I related that indicates the timer does not extend. Am I wrong?

Comment by Techhead7890

If you're looking after 9.0, it appears the NPC is a Broker-race NPC in South Revendreth: Ta'xera

Comment by Kretyn

For anyone that is wondering like I am, you can't just bid 1 gold above the current bid. It seems to be about 5% above?
When a mount was 20,000, I was able to bid 21,000. And when it was 60,000, I wasn't able to bid 61,000, but the lowest I could bid was 63,000.

1/20 = 3/60 = 5%

I don't know if this is correct or intended, this is just what I came across. I can't find any information on WoWHead or other sites about how much you can outbid someone.

I can't use the Black Market place since I leveled my character above 60. Apparently this is a common issue. Does anyone know of any kind of fix? I don't have a secondary character.

Comment by Chaindog

Please correct your guide information. Yes, you still have to be level 60 to get the interact bag icon on Ta'xera but the BMAH there is no longer in business. The BMAH in Shadowlands hasn't been usable since DF dropped. And there appears to be zero plans to fix that for toons level 60+. "Simpler to use DF BMAH" doesn't help toons going through SL content and not wanting to hearth to Valdrakken, portal to Orgrimmar, then portal to Oribos, then fly back to their gaming zones...

NOTE: STILL not updated as of DF S3.5

May be worth updating the guide to mention that Tier 3 is now obtainable through Secrets of Naxxramas as well!
It may still be cheaper to buy it through the BMAH (due to all of the vendor materials required...) but still an avenue that may interest people!
Sawbones Shirt is also available through Scholomance again!
