Introducing Wowhead Class Guides
Class information is a crucial resource for boosted 90 players and alts. Here at Wowhead we try to build tools and present data in the best possible way to help players, and since class gameplay lends itself well to guides, we've launched a new Class Guide section!
Click here to check out our new class guides!
These guides are in the style of our popular guides written by Wowhead staff, such as our holiday and patch guides. We've asked a number of raiders and bloggers, many of which were familiar faces at WoW Insider, to write guides aimed towards beginners. We've aimed for brevity, to give you just the core facts you need to get started, without bogging you down with hugely detailed strategies.
The guides include everything you need to get started:
Spells: core abilities, rotations and priority systems, self buffs, utility, CC and more
Talents: basic builds and optimal choices for different situations
Glyphs: the most popular choices and options for different contexts

Blizzard Dev Notes, Patch 5.0.5 Hotfixes
Earlier this week, the Blizzard Community Team shared notes from weekly developer meetings to fansites! While this is a partial transcript as not all questions and answers can be shared with the public, there's a ton of useful information covering a wide breadth of topics and it's a neat to see what's discussed at dev meetings.
We've summarized the highlights below, and be sure to check out (removed) the complete Q&A over at Wowjuju, as well as their extremely-useful (removed).

Blizzard is happy with PvP vendors on the wall: map icons and in-game mail clarify their locations.
The rewards from random Battlegrounds and dungeon bonuses were changed to fit the new reward structure in MoP.

Jaina and Theramore Scenario Spoilers, New Warlock Pet Sounds and Emotes
Today's
beta patch
included a lot of sound files for the Theramore scenario that's been talked about since BlizzCon. So if you want to hear Jaina in all her fury, look no further! Naturally,
this post contains a lot of spoilers
, so tread lightly and don't watch them if you don't want to be spoiled.
The patch also included completely new voice overs for all of the Warlock's pets. They're really ridiculous--including tons of jokes and overacting--and worth listening to. These pets and their emotes will all come from
talent that Warlock's will get in Mists of Pandaria.

News Round Up: Dragon Soul Nerfs Continue and so do MoP Talent Explanations
Dragon Soul is receiving what will be the second of its zone wide nerfs, decreasing the damage dealt and health of its enemies by 10% from 5%.
There has been some retaliation from players, but it's always good to remember that the last thing Blizzard wants is another situation like the original Naxxaramas--it is their company goal now to have the majority of its playerbase experience the encounters and this is their method of doing it. Besides, it's not like it's a surprise now, is it?

Mists of Pandaria Talent Trees and New Spells Introduced
Several talents have been changed since they were shown at BlizzCon 2011 and new spells have been added. Naturally, this means we went digging for the ones that you wanted to see, breaking them down by class for a single page reference of everything new and exciting about this talent calculator. Special thanks to Neutronimity who always helps so much on posts like these for his screenshots! Perculia also added some information this evening--a comparison between the featured MoP talents and current options, as well as a transcription of the talent tooltips from the screenshots.
Blizzard also gave their logic for these changes as well as a warning that these are always subject to change throughout the Mists of Pandaria alpha and beta experience. So don't get

Explanation of 4.3 Balance Changes, Part Two
It's a holiday for some, but Blizzard was at work releasing a new blog this morning--Ghostcrawler shared more of his thoughts on the class and balance changes in 4.3. Many classes received detailed explanations about upcoming changes--such as Holy Radiance, Mortal Strike, Fire Mage buffs, and bear form Stamina. However, rogues weren't mentioned at all--and it would have been interesting to hear more thoughts on Blizzard's concerns from the live Q&A how rogues were underrepresented in raiding and their perceived lack of utility.

4.3 Preliminary Guide: 3d Models, Items, Holiday Changes, and More
4.3 news is finally here and it's a dataminer's paradise. Perculia and myself have spent the past six and a half hours going through the
1600+ items
on Wowhead's PTR site and summed up our first impressions: what's new, what's cool, and what's useful. Below you'll find everything in this build; from epic gem stats, new vanity pets, and an explanation of preliminary item levels, this mini-guide should prove helpful if you hate database hunting. We've also highlighted some of the radical class changes, putting them next to Ghostcrawler's commentary from earlier today.
Oh, and we have some cool models to share--if you're into that sort of stuff.
One quick thing: take all of this with a grain of salt. This is the first build of this patch's PTR. It's messy, it's unforgiving, and it's definitely a few cards short of an entire Darkmoon Faire deck.

News Round Up: Latest Hotfixes (August 10), Blizz on Character Limits
Latest hotfixes have been posted, including a previously undocumented change to the dailies for the
Molten Front

Instead of one elemental spawning, three now spawn; this should make getting the achievement way easier as many people still didn't have it (despite doing the dailies every day). It was completely RNG and some servers didn't even have an elemental switch yet.

In other more pertinent news, San Diego Comic Con was this weekend and there was a big Blizzard presence. Chris Metzen showed up with a panel of Blizzard writers and partners; there was a general presentation on the future of Blizzard's licensed products including comics and merchandise then there was an open question session where fans were able to ask Metzen about anything and everything from World of Warcraft.
His answers hinted towards Thrall's saga not being done yet--a possible return as warchief may be in the cards--and also a new focus on alliance in future novels. To help balance out the recent focus on horde, the next novel will be about Jaina Proudmoore. Check out

Leveling 201: A Guide to More Enjoyable Leveling
Leveling in Cataclysm is easy; but with all the additions, there's bound to be something surprising, whether you're a veteran or on your first alt. For better or for worse, Cataclysm has streamlined questing--but has also featured alternative ways to gain experience if questing becomes tedious on your 5th alt. Personally, I've leveled toons numerous ways: a rogue to 85 through questing on the first day of the xpac, a warlock in legacy epics through mining, a priest in full BoAs primarily through instances, a rogue strictly through herbalism, and a DK questing in half-BoAs. I've got a mage at 62 that's currently done a lot of LFD, but outpacing the quests for particular zones drives her crazy with the lore and consistent plot lines. I have friends that wait for Alterac Valley weekend for leveling, another that leveled a toon through LFD with 0 quests completed on purpose, and some insane guildmates that have leveled multiple toons through Archaeology in the hopes of getting an elusive epic (cough,
Zin'rokh, Destroyer of Worlds
) for their mains. Big thanks to Psynister for his expert leveling advice!
Once you hit 85, all the new Justice Point gear, Molten Front dailies, and Firelands rep farming await, so let's highlight all the ways you can get th

Ask the Devs #11: Healing
Ask the Devs #11 was posted and this time it's all about healing. As someone who has played a healer since vanilla, I probably have too many opinions here so I'll let you guys do most of the reading--overall, there are some good questions, especially the one about Holy priest viability in top PvE content, but the answers aren't necessarily the best. And while Mana Tide is brought up, they don't talk much about how currently many guilds bring a Resto shaman in over another class solely for that buff.
I spend a lot of my time in raids keeping Water Shield up, which I rely on to maintain enough mana. There have been times I've neglected to heal someone because I had to refresh Water Shield. Why are shaman healers less effective compared to other healing classes? – Epistemology (NA), Ерз (EU-RU)
We’d like to be more consistent about what does and doesn’t trigger Water Shield. Having the shield trigger when taking direct damage, and consume an orb, is consistent with how all shaman shields work. On some encounters though, constant pulsing damage probably burns through those charges too quickly and doesn’t need
