For players not in the 50's and want the Ironweb Spider Silk you can farm the Searing Lava Spider (45-47) and the Greater Lava Spider (47-49) found in the Searing Gorge.

The first time you use the Ironweb Spider Silk is for tailoring at the 260 skill level to make:

I personally have had more luck with the Rock Stalkers in Sillithus than any other spider. In 1hr of grinding I got 14 Ironweb Silk, 31 Thick Spider's Silk and 23 Shadow Silk. And yes I have tried all the other areas / spiders.

I find the best place to farm this is in LBRS. The spiders around smolderweb seem to drop a lot of them. I think I averaged about 10 per run. At level 70 you can almost walk to them without stealth and they are not too hard to solo. I've stealthed to them on my druid and walked to them on the pally and was able to solo them easily. I wasn't looking for this silk, I was there for other things, but there was a high drop rate.

If you're Honored with Argent Dawn you can get their First Aid Powerful Anti-Venom spell. It makes it grinding spiders a lot easier for Rogues. I didn't get Honored until a few days before I moved over to Outlands and the Anti-Venom is only good up to mobs <= lvl 60 but I still come back to farm spiders so I'm still getting use out of the Anti-Venom.

If you're a Rogue even if you're following something like Joana's leveling guide or Tekkubs TourGuide I suggest that once you hit lvl 50 you take a break and grind some rep with Argent Dawn to get their Powerful Anti-Venom spell. I hate getting poisoned -- I can't stealth when I am.

LBRS is clearly the best place to grind these. The droprate is slightly lower (10% instead of 13%), but you kill the mobs by the dozen, and you'll sometimes even get 2 ironweb silks on a single mob.

Just as a quick guide :

Get in LBRS
Walk up the stairs and turn right, jump to the platform with the 4 guys and 2 worgs, go in through the corridor there, then as soon as you're out and facing another pack of mobs in a large open space, go right and jump down to the ledge along the wall. Keep going down till you're next to the mass of humanoids down there, then go right towards the spider area. Clear, loot, keep going up after the spider area towards the pack of ogres. Right before you reach them, jump down on the right and go straight, you'll be able to get back up, reset, and restart.

You should get around 5 silks per clear, 10 minutes per clear.

Hope that was clear enough :p

PS : Plenty of runecloth on all the humanoids there as well.

Decided to farm 100 sand skitters each round to see how many you could get per 100 and how long it would take.

Round 1: 4:20pm-5:00pm

The droprates in WPL is totally bogus. I've been there for about 1hr now, killed about 100 Plague Lurkers - only got ONE Ironweb Spider Silk.

Since they've redone Silithus, the spiders right to the north of Cenarion Circle (around Hive'ashi) drop them. I was doin the quest that needs 8 of their fangs, in about 30-45 minutes got 4. dont know how many i killed and maybe i got kinda lucky, but that seemed kinda nifty to me.

Western plaguelands, just as you come in from Tirisfal Glads theres tons of Venom Mist Lurkers. Averaged 1 ironweb silk from every 6 kills...got tons of shadow silk too. (Tried Greater Lava Spiders-Searing Gorge- first and didn't get anything)

WPL is the best and all spiders drop Ironweb Spider silk as well at Thick Spider silk and Shadow Spider silk. In about 1 1/2 hr I got 12 Ironweb would have gotten more but didn't know all would drop it till later.

i spent roughly 2.5 hours running around silithus killing all the sand skitterers i could find, adding up to 190 kills. i got 20 ironweb spider silks, along with 21 thick spider silks, 22 shadow silks, 5g worth of vendor trash and one green. dont know if i was lucky or if i have too much time on my hands, but i hope this helps some of you.

I got the best results from plague lurkers, just north of the road at the eastern end of the Western Plaguelands.

Out of 25 kills, I got 3 ironweb spider silk (plus 4 thick spider silk, 3 shadow silk, and 2 green armor drops).

This compares to only 1 ironweb spider silk from 21 kills of the other two spider types in Western Plaguelands combined (carrion lurkers and venom mist lurkers). I was so frustrated I was about to give up when I tripped over the plague lurkers, as noted above.

Was able to get 10 of these in under an hour from Silithus.

***I would recommend going down to the bottom of Silithus to the Bronzebeard encampment, as there is a couple of spiders there that always seem to drop it first time.***

It all depends on where you're questing.

I've been doing a lot of WPL and EPL quests lately, so I've been spending a lot of recent time farming the spiders in WPL. Drop rate is tolerable, about one in every eight or ten spiders.

A nice thing about farming in WPL is that you're within riding distance of Undercity, where you can easily repair, hit auctions, bank your stuff, etc. Alliance would do better around the Burning Steppes, where it's a short hop to Stormwind.

Hey, for those of you trying to get to 300 tailor, buying/grinding Ironweb spider silk is not the only way.

I leveled tailong to 300 by making brightcloth cloak, only taking 4 runecloth, and bought gold bars cheap from AH.

Beats grinding for the spider drops!

Spent exactly 1:15 in WPL in the area specified above and got 20 Ironweb, 17 Shadow, and 18 Thick Spider Silk.

I found that farming for felcloth was much easier than the ironweb spider silk. Not only did it drop faster, for me at least, but the demons that droped it also dropped other goodies including some greens. They also dropped runecloth like crazy.

I was harvesting ironwebs from Western Plaqueland for 4 hours last night. I got only 4 of them. Then today I go to the Silithus for doing something else, and discovered that spiders just north from Cenarion Hold drop ironweb silk too. After harvesting 20 mins I got all 8 that I was needing for :)

So forget WPL and go to Silithus for Ironwebs, lots of spiders and droprate is much, much better!

Try the Spiders in Searing Gorge - didn't realise how rare this seems to be, and ended up with 6 Ironweb Silk from the twenty kills needed for the quest. Haven't investigated further, as I'm not a tailor, but it's another idea at least. GL :)

Level 73 Feral Druid: I spent 25 minutes in silithus killing those big brown spiders to the northwest of cenarion circle. Got 5 ironweb silks from first 16 spiders. Also dropped an epic level 52 axe as well as a bunch of shadow silk and thick silk. maybe 100 kills total of different creatures. That was my experience.

I dedicated 35 minutes for farming Ironweb Spider Silk in WPL. I did not keep track of how many spiders I killed but it was fairly constant with a 73 mage. The drop rates were the best with the Carrion Lurkers, the next were the Plague Lurkers and finally the Venon Mist Lurkers. (They all dropped Ironweb Spider Silk).
In 35 mins I got:

14 ironweb Spider Silk
17 shadow Silk
8 thick Spider Silk
36 White Spider Meat
33 Dripping Spider Mandible
3 Hard Spider Leg Tips
1 Huge Venon Sac
1 Aquamarine

as you can see LBRS is the best place to farm for these. easy if you're lvl 80. run past junk mobs straight to the spider place kill them all for like 15-20 ironwebs, PROFIT.

Just kill the sand skitters or w/e they called around hive'ashi in silthus i was farming for tailoring and it will a reasonable drop rate even more id say then thottbot says, but also the drops are really jsut luck in 1000 kills someone could get 400 ironweb spider silk while another person in 1000 kills gets only 100 its just random with drop rate a minor factor

After 1½ hour in WPL, this is what i ended up with:

22 Ironweb Spider Silk
19 Thick Spiders Silk
29 Shadow Silk
and 2 green items.

I think thats quite good considering that its supposed to be a pain to get. So either they changed the spawn or i was extremely lucky.

Took me 1 1/2 to 2 hours to get 10 Ironweb Spider Silk. The best place i found was just north of Dalson's Tears in WPL. There are about 10 of them there but they dont re-spawn very quick :(

I needed some for my Flarecore gear & was surprised to find the 4 I needed in around 30-45 minutes time. I can recommend the far southwestern corner, just next to the BRM entrance, as the mobs tend to repop at a nice and steady pace.

You need 1 of these for the Logistics Task Briefing VIII quest along with 2 Bolts of Runecloth and 1 mooncloth. So if you are ever going to do the quest for the Epic piece in Silithus and you get one of these...keep it because the AH is selling them in stacks of 10 for like 29g <argh>.

Just to test Znowflakes drop rate per his/her posting below, I spent exactly 30 minutes and I got the following:

10 Ironweb Spider Silks
7 Thick Spider Silks
10 Shadow Silks
4 Green Items

So, you can see that since I only spent 30 minutes, and Znowflake spent 90 minutes, my drop rate was actually BETTER than his/hers. So, you definitely can farm about 20 Ironweb Spider Silks every 1 hour.

Note: I am a level 70, and I also farmed this in Western Plaguelands.

From what I can tell the best place by far to farm them is the auction house. (=p)

But no seriously, I've tried SG and WPL and the rate they drop in WPL is higher and the spiders are relatively the same. If you happen to make it to Mother Smolderweb in LBRS those spiders (and the ones that come out of the cacoons) drop it quite often aswell.

Level 80 DK in WPL for 15 minutes:

10 spider meat
8 shadow silk
5 thick spider silk
8 ironweb spider silk
lots of spider guts

For me it seemed the plague lurkers dropped it about 30% of the time, while the other spiders were maybe 10%. Granted my progress was faster because I could walk in between the bears, but the last 5 minutes I was also killing all the bears just for the heck of it, and because they drop regularly.

The following quests can be picked up from 工匠維爾海姆 at the Light's Hope Chapel in the 東瘟疫之地 by completing 歐瑪利安之手冊 which you get from 工匠大師歐瑪利安.
He's trapped in a cage in the first room of trash in the Deathknight Wing inside 納克薩瑪斯.
With a skill of 300 and high enough reputation, you will be able to choose from a total of 13 different patterns depending on your professions: 裁縫 (4), 製皮 (6) or 鍛造 (3).
