I found this rare on the Isle of Thunder in Diremoor at coordinates 53, 53. After killing it on the PTR, I received 15 valor points, 100 reputation with The Black Prince and a Shan'ze Ritual Stone.

The fight was fairly easy with my hunter and a tanking pet. Goda's only real damage comes from his shell spin that I interrupted with scatter shot.

Goda is a new rare elite in 5.2, found on the Isle of Thunder.

Goda is inside the tree at 54, 53.5 Goda seems to spawn ABOUT every 20 minutes or so give or take 5 min.

Probably the easiest of the rare elites found on the island. Run away when he flops down on the ground to do the shell spin, wait it out (he doesn't move much), and then resume.

Simply because nobody else seems to have mentioned it, pretty sure it's a reference to Yoda living in his house in the Dagobah Swamp, and the Dark Side tree. Goda, Yoda, Yeah. You get it.

So, this is strange and may be only coincidental, but I thought it was worth noting.

After killing Goda, he seemed lootable, but we got Cannot Loot message clicking on the body.

So, giving up, since they don't always drop, I started looting the smaller turtles that we killed while fightining. The first one dropped the 15 valor tome.

Was it because it picked up the loot from the nearby Goda that we couldn't loot? Maybe.. or maybe it dropped its own? Anyway.. just a thought.. try looting something nearby if you get the Cannot Loot message.

I started camping Goda right after it got killed. Unlike a previous post stating the spawn time is about 20 minutes, I actually had to wait 50 minutes for Goda to spawn. In the meantime I got the chance to see two previously killed ones despawn. (joy!)

no mater who tagged the rare it will give loot to everyone so DO NOT leave.

if you cant loot it there are 2 ways to get the loot:

log out and back in
go away from the rare until it phases out and then return

if it says "there is no loot' repeat the second way but stay away for a few minutes. dont worry the coprse wont despawn until everyone who killed it gets their loot from it

I think there is a week limitation for stones and keys.

Got both in my first loot on the first day. I've killed all available rares (took me two days) and after my first kill i was only reawarded with a Tome of Valor. (Loot was bugged most of the time, killing a mob nearby worked fine for me, exceptionally for this one, the corpse despawned too fast)

Is it the same with the summonable elites? Maybe you can loot only one kind of champion per week

Just to let everyone know:

When he dies if you loot him and the loot screen doesnt appear, run out of range so you cant see the corpse, then run back into range and he should be lootable. Just a bug, should be fixed soon.

If you are unable to loot, or you just know that looting is going to be an issue. Kill any mob in the area of AOE looting and loot that corpse when he dies. Works 100% of the time for me without going out of range or re-logging.

Goda can be kited to Bleak Hollow (51.41 46.67)/(North-West) if you want an easier time at DPS'ing him down through the assistance of the Shado-Pan NPCs

For any casters looking to solo him, the magic damage reducing buff is dispellable, and only stacks to 50%.

For you rogues out there who want the chest he is staring at inside his little stump, you can get it without actually fighting him. On my rogue, I stealthed, threw a distract to his left, used shadow walk, and literally walked straight through him on the right side. You can then unstealth in the back and loot the chest. To get out (or in) you can go right through him and vanish.

Seems like the fight is only half as long if his Crystalline Shield can be dispelled which i can easily do on my hunter with Tranquillizing Shot. Does anyone else know what other classes can use for that?

A very useful tip for all the melee out there: Stun him right after he starts spinning, it will force the spell on cooldown and allow you to keep on fighting.

For anyone wanting an easy time soloing this guy, the easiest way I've found is to kite him to the shado pan assault cave not too far away. When he does his shell spin attack, he'll knock back a few of them and they'll attack, bringing him down pretty quickly.

I believe you'll have to do a certain amount of damage else you won't get loot, but I've never had much problem doing the required amount, so it shouldn't be much.

You can down vote this if you need to - but I killed this boss the first week you could and I got 2 keys from one kill.

I thought it might be a week one glitch, but last week, I killed him on my lock and got another x2 key drop.

I don't know if this is possible with any other rares or just him or something that you can potentially get.

Soloed as a 508 sub Rogue. Full solo, not just hit and run. Easy fight.
1) Always keep Recuperate and Slice and Dice up!
2) Kidney shot as he tries to spin.
3) EVASION! When possible, use right after he spins, because that is when the big hits come down.
4) Shadow Blades are good for increasing dps a bit.
5) You must have just used a full Recuperate to take maximum advantage of this: Blind. It stays up for 1 minute, but as you hit full health, or Recuperate fades off, Shadow Dance, Cheap Shot, and Ambush a couple times.

For people trying to kill the rares to get the Sealed Tome of the Lost Legion he is do able solo. I was able to kill Goda on my warrior, geared 492. Second wind always shows it's love when you get low on health, I was running around 32% for a good chunk of the fight because a nearby yellow turtle was like "OooOOoooo! I want to play too!". When he was doing his whirl attack I would just go out of range a bit and charge back in and stun him that way. This was the first time I killed him so I might of lucked out but his whirl attack kind of kept him where he was and he didn't ping pong around that much.

I would say the drop rates on wowhead are skewed because it takes account for the other 9 classes that can't loot it when wowhead data is uploaded.

If it were warlocks only I would say the drop rate would be closer to the 4-5%.(due to weight of warlocks farming for tomes)

Got him down to about 47% with my Feral, using Renewal, Rejuvenation and the first Master Healing Potion. I managed to escape all the Shell Spins, which I learned how to dodge on the Timeless Isle (just start running around the tree when he pulls his legs into his shell). The tricky thing is to avoid getting stuck on the roots and stuff on the ground.

He doesn't hit too hard but hard enough that with my 493 leather gear, I was planning on about 6 to 7 heals of one kind or another. Unfortunately at 47%, he suddenly disengaged, turned around, ran back into his cave and restored all his health.

This was on a Tuesday, but 8 hours after the 5.4.8 patch had been implemented. Could this have had something to do with it? Maybe, but I haven't figured out how to get that lost time back yet. It might be time to say G'day to Goda.

You might check with the GMs before tackling him, just to make sure they've got him back on the job.

He is tamable I just tamed him since I also have the Turtle just outside of the Firelands Raid.

I decided to tame him and realised once I did that he has this annoying stomping sound and it is loud. I dismissed and resummoned but it seems to be a thing with this one. My other Dragon Turtle (Fury one from Timeless Isle) doesn't have this.

Spawn time currently seems to be at least 55 minutes. There was no corpse when I arrived and in-game timer hit over 50 minutes before he appeared. Good luck.

In 2021 the repawn rate is about an hour and 10 min right at that 53, 53 spot. Definitely not the ten or 20 min spawn that people used to profess. One shot fight but also keep in mind others are circulating around looking for one shots too even in mid 2020. Killed it four times in a couple weeks (twice in once day) and never got a Stone even though this turtle is listed in WoW of having the highest drop rate of Shanze've Ritual STones. Could be RNG but those chests are probably still best even in advanced Xpacs.

As mention in previous posts, you can loot more than one 衫織儀式石 a week by looting bosses with auto loot off and forcing the drops to be sent to your mailbox. This can be done an unlimited amount of times as long as you never physically loot a 衫織儀式石 from a rare or chest. Summonable bosses can also be looted mutiple times a week for those interested in farming the epic weapon drops for transmog.
