This looks like a phenomenal spell but I have to wonder if it will be effected by +healing and at what kind of coefficient/percentage.

Either way, great to see that (non-Draenai) paladins are getting a HoT.

This will be a very effective 51 point talent for Healadins but I can already see only 1 paladin per raid wanting this really. The other paladins would probably want to spec into the Ret tree a bit (there are good hybrid specs on forums) and pick up Sheath of Light which gives 20% of your heal as a HoT if you crit...

As of now on the beta, Beacon of Light is the straight heal and is not affected by spellpower but this could change since it is a 1.5 second cast and not instant.

This can effectively heal tanks that need to stack and melee groups fairly well. Think of Void Reaver, Bear Boss, Hawk Boss, etc. Several Paladins with this spell would make healing those fights very smooth. Even just two would be great along other healer's AoEs. I guess the best thing about it, again, is that is a quick cast HoT. Sucks that it can probably be purged/dispelled in arenas.

as of august 30, this spell is instant and has changed from healing over time to a spell that lets you heal the main tank AND focus on the group. i will miss the healing over time but it never was the way with paladins. i kind of like the idea that it heals for 100% on the tank but now you need to look at all the health bars+tank's bar to know what spell to use. nice job blizzard;)

Do you realize how broken this will be in 2v2 if the opponent doesn't have a way to dispell (ie: Priest/Shaman)?

I can't see how this could be balanced with other healers for PvP.

Now, for PvE healing, this is going to make for some seriously huge healing numbers for Paladins (effectively doubles healing done in any situation that requires healing two targets).

In a 25 man, if there is an encounter that doesn't have too much raid damage, I can see this being very useful to have a hand of sacrifice rotation with your paladins. It also has really nice synergy with shaman's spirit link.

With how this spell works now I probably won't be afraid to HoS the tank right on a pull to mitigate initial burst.

so if you can cast this on urself then....holy pally/assas rogue 2vs2, rogue gets 20% more heals, and 1 crit heal will basicly just pump you both to 100% cant wait to hear the crys

This, and shaman's Spirit Link (http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=51567) can easly solve the problem of off-tanking. The paladin heals the main tank, he puts Beacon of Light to the off-tank, so the OT will have enough rage to build aggro, and the paladins heals keep him topped.

I'd like to so more of such effective combination of abilities and I hope they won't get nerfed for PvP reasons.

Anyone know if this effect applies to all healers in a raid or only the paladin?

As in is more than 1 paladin with beacon needed in raid? He casts it on maintank, and all heals on raid performed by any healer - priest, shammy, druid, pala whatever - will also be cast on the beacon?

THat sounds extremely overpowered?

And btw, overhealing IS lost, ie. it is not given to the beacon.

Quite a good spell but I think Sheat of Light(see Retribution Paladin Tree) is better. Though it is a good spell. DEVASTATING in 2v2 seing as if you crit say 15k then that means that you will heal yourself and you 2v2 partner for 15k (If you place beacon of light on yourself)
35% of mana for 1minute is quite expensive especially as the actual spell does NO healing. Whats more I was wondering, if you place this on a target then heal that target do they get a double heal?

Not as amazing as you would first assume for constant use.

You are counting on not only your tank receiving damage, but those around you aswell. great in theory.
But honestly how often do you have damaged allys that arent already being taken care of by a shammy using chain heal or a druids HoTs. And dont argue that tanks lose health constantly in large chunks, most good tanks have high block, high damage migitation AND dodge/parry.

this is handy for sure when 2 tanks/any players are taking heavy constant damage, otherwise it is just a waste of mana and focus.

it only heals the target not everybody around you like somebody suggested above.

Healing trinket from heroic magisters terrace does not proc it because you are not casting.

Just wondering one thing here, today i went violet hold, and a paladin was healing, specced for beacon (i was tanking). He did use it but not on me... wich i thought was odd, then when i asked him why not cast it on me, he simply replied "i hope you are kiding me" and didnt reply to me again when i asked him why did he say that.

What did he mean? Isn't this supposed to make you able to heal your party without having to worry about the tank not geting the heals he needs meanwhile?

Unless you frequently find yourself raid healing a lot of AE damage, this spell is garbage. Since overhealing is not transferred to the beacon target, this very infrequently heals that target for more than a pittance.

It is useful for keeping yourself alive in 5-man encounters with a lot of AE such as Drakkari Colossus but in raids you should rely on HOTs from that Druid you bring along for the battle res.

I find that for soloing, 5-man content, and nearly every 10-man boss in the game so far, Sanctified Retribution is of much greater use to yourself and your group, and the eight crit in the ret tree is also nice to get along the way.

@ Manbearcat - the issue with beacon of light is that its reverse healing you do not heal the target with BoL, you heal the people around BoL to heal the one who actually has BoL on them. This is the reason why placing BoL on tank is a waste, do the fact you suppose to only focus healing on tank to keep tank up all others who get damage done to them are usually the ones you heal ever so often, this is where BoL shines. For example in 5 mans, lets say you have rogue and tank in melee range of a mob, mob can cleave, so with BoL on rogue, you can continue to cast heals on the main tank (which you suppose to focus on) and constantly heal the rogue. In Arenas you can constantly keep 2 people up while focusing on one person, which is really annoying to many people since pallies do take alot of damge to get low, this basically makes it hard to kill a 2v2 team.

@ Blackskuul - I am not sure if you read the spell correctly. Spells says "All heals YOU cast" so not everyone in raid who heals will be healing a target who has BoL on them. Now to the reason why everyone flames it, One its high mana requirement which I think is close to 1k mp to cast (can't remember.) 2. It only last for 1 minute, so with in that time frame, the target of BoL must be getting hit or else it is wasted, and then recasting is another chunck of mana. 3. (please don't quote me on this one) BoL to me is used to heal party members who dont' know how to control there agro, know where to stand, and do not know when to run. BoL allows us to constantly keep these people up while we focus on tank with heals, its a form of lazy healing given to us in my opinion.

if the tank is getting a heavy dmg you can cast this on him and heal a warlock with demon armor wich gives +20% of bonus healing and consequently your tank recives +20% bonus heal (even better if the warlock has the talent demonic aegis wich increases fel armor efect by 30% giving a total of 29%bonus heal)

I've just got this spell, and in 5-mans its looks like the best general use is to cast it on yourself before bosses or before fighting large numbers of trash. With all the AoE flying around in most dungeons this is really helpful in keeping yourself, the healer, alive.

In PvE if you don't beacon the tank your just bad. Just think of it you can heal the group and never have to heal the tank directly. Therefore doubling your healing efforts with one spell.

Hi, just want to know are people downranking this or does it really suck because it seems to be like double healing and i like the way it sound i dont got it yet i get it in few levels but IF it is really useful please comment worth it :) and if not, good work :) FACE IT! u drop this off to your arena partner and start healing urself, it drops the heals to ur partner 60 yards away and walls seem not to stop so its incredible u can be far away from ur partner and not get beated because no DPS will go 60 yards away from hes/her healer except pallys DPS partner :)

As from the patch 4.0.1 it got nerfed.
Only heals the target of the beacon for 50% of the healing the paladin does.

my question is: i heard somewhere that prior to the nerf to this blizz would be allowing 150% heals EG if you use this on yourself then heal yourself you would get that heal then BoL's heal can anyone confirm?

@hubbard it definitely doesn't give you 50% more healing when you heal the target of BoL. It just does nothing.

I think by nerfing it to 50% and making the mana cost so cheap, they're trying to get paladins to use it to assist in raid healing. BoL one person, Holy Shock a second, BoL a third, WoG a forth. With 4 global cooldowns, you've healed 5 people (including the protector of the innocent heals you get).

But since they're already increasing the duration to 5 minutes in the next patch, maybe I'm wrong about that.

The spell now has a duration of 5 minutes and the glyph now lowers the mana cost the 0.

The two changes seem a bit repetative, because it lasts 5 min you wont have to use it nearly as often.

This glyph saves what, ~1400 mana at 85? I use it, can't see the mana cost, sorry. That's only 2/3rds of a holy light.

To be honest, cleansing, lay on hands, divinity, light of dawn, and divine plea are all better options imo for pve. I may use this in PvP, due to the fact that my spells will be instantly dispelled. I do actually have the talent on atm, as I just haven't switched it from when they changed it, and actually swap beacon during AoE fights to catch up on healing, it's probably not the best choice.

On a point more towards the actual spell, Beacon also transmits stuff like Protector of the Innocent and Enlightened Judgements, and Light of Dawn. Hitting 5 targets with Light of Dawn + Beaconing it is your largest heal with Holy Power, even single target, over WoG, though I do often use WoG instead due to movement and the 30% refresh/60% crit talents.

There appears to be a minimum character level under which the low level character will not be able to receive the Beacon of Light buff; and also will be ignored be a Beacon that is on another character.

No big deal from actual game play perspective, but it prevented me from using a newly created trial account to create a fake party so I could do some testing.

Patch 4.3

Beacon of Light is triggered by Word of Glory, Holy Shock, Flash of Light, Divine Light and Light of Dawn at 50% transference and Holy Light at 100% transference.

It does NOT transfer Holy Radiance, Protector of the Innocent or other sources of healing.

We've been working on Heroic Yor'sahj the Unsleeping.
Beacon of Light's transfer does not stack Deep Corruption. This is incredible for the above fight.

So remembering Heroic Valithria Dreamwalker in which we set up a pet with Blood of the Rhino right next the dragon and had our Pallie bomb on it, we figured, that would be the right approach for this fight.

However it appears Blood of the Rhino does not transfer the increased Healing amount.

In case anyone is unsure about the mechanics of this move, here is a quick explanation. Your beacon does not have to be in your LoS in order for them to receive the effect, as long as the target you are healing is in both your LoS as well as LoS with the beacon. Obviously, in order to cast a heal your target needs to be in your LoS, and in order for that healing effect to be transferred to the beacon, they must be in the LoS of the target of your healing spell. If it is just you and the beacon then you will have to maintain LoS for this effect to be passed along. If there is a third member then they can be used to pass the heal to the beacon as long as the above conditions are met.
