The labs are in the side rooms next to the quest giver. Almost everything in the rooms is lootable, just need to mouse over them to find the right items.

Muddy Mire Maggot, Withered Batwing, and Chilled Serpent Mucus are found in the room to your left as you come into Alchemist Finklestein's room. The Amberseed is in the room to the right.

the items have a 30 second timer but at the time of writing this you only have to pick up all 4 items, not hold them all at the same time and hand it in, so its easier than it seems

The Muddy Mire Maggot can be found in one of the open sacks on the floor. The other items can be found on the shelves.

It actually took me a minute to find the chilled serpent mucus. By the time I turned in the quest the only thing in my inventory was the mucus. The quest requires you to "find" these items. Not turn them in. The timer doesn't matter.

Chilled Serpent Mucus is a small thin greenish colored bottle. Hope this helps.

as i started on the right, only Chilled Serpent Mucus is on the left only. Rest are all on the right as well.

After each item it says "found". So you only have to find/locate it, not bringing it. Was confused as well, was trying to find a way to bring all of the items within 30 seconds, but that seemed almost impossible unless ya have speed pots.
So no need for all that, only 'find' them.

I would like to note that there is a diference the 1ST "Lab Work" quest and the DAILY "Lab Work" Quest.

The 1st Lab Work quest you do you only have to get 4 items, not on a timer and turn them into the Alchemist.

The Daily Lab Work quest is on a timer, 30 secs for each item and if I am not mistaken it is 6 items total, each progressivly harder to find.

Amberseed is in the room on the right, pantry is on the left, the seed in on the lower shelves, the round brown item. Seems to be the only item on the list not appearing in multiple locations over the lab.

Yup, those are the same amberseeds that players keep eating and evacuating in Grizzly Hills!

The Chilled Serpent Mucus is on the shelf on the left side
The rest are on the shelves to the right side

***Although the quest items have duration time it doesnt matter if they expire.
***Most of the items on the shelves you won't need for this quest!
***Dont go picking up Ancient Ectoplasm for Lost Drakkari Spiritfrom from the shelves, you won't get credit for it. Blizzard only put it there to mock you!

I found that a lot of the items are on more than one shelf, so it doesn't matter if you are too short to reach the top shelf

Everything on the list you get from both rooms. I found the Chilled Serpent Mucus in the left room, the muddy maggots are in the bags, the bat wing looks like a bone human hand and amber seed is in the Right room and it looks like a big lump of mud.

I remember doing this quest way before Cata was out. We had to click on all the items as no names would appear! Now there are names as you hold over the mouse over them!

If you've been running around for 5 minutes like I did, the Muddy Mire Maggot is not on the shells, but rather on the floor in a big grain bag... Hope that helps.
