This should make leveling fishing more easier than it already is.

Also, I think it's basic usefulness is to level your alt's fishing skill without having to fish all the way up to max level on every toon.
So, when you're fishing with your main, you get one of these and send to an alt that you wish to level... If you fish a lot and have at least an alt, this item is really helpful.

It would cost 12000 gold to level an alt from 1 to 600 with this book only.

With the guild perk Bartering (Guild level 24) it would cost you a total of 10800 gold.

Not a bad price to be honest. Of course it would probably be best to level it by hand for as long as you feel like it to lower the overall price.

I am Revered with the Anglers. Has anyone else tried to buy this item? I keep on getting "This Item is locked." when I try to purchase it. It's also reddened over in the Merchant window (as if I can't buy it yet) but so is Dragon Fishing Pole and I could purchase that just fine.

I am currently able to buy this item from Nat Pagle at Buddy reputation with him, the book also doesn't seem to show me a "Requires Nat Pagle - Revered" line anymore. I couldn't buy this book yesterday when I opened the vendor to buy the exalted Anglers mount but today I can, nothing has changed reputation wise since yesterday.

If you desire to level an alt's fishing with these books, I would highly recommend first levelling your alt's fishing up to at least about 200 by hand, as getting that skill is fairly quick and incredibly easy. This will cut the price down to well below 10k.

I can only assume this book was added to help when either migrating to a different main character and/or to help your alts work on, mainly, Cloud Serpent dailies, as well as any other faction or quest that requires fishing, including (obviously) the Anglers themselves.

This item CAN be sent cross faction on the same realm, just like other BOA gear.

Also, with guild perks, and being best friends with Nat Pagle/exalted with the anglers, the cost is 700g per item.

Interesting to note that when dropped from Krakkanon, they are tradeable for 2 hours to anyone who partook in the kill.

If you won't use it on any of your own characters, give it away! :)

This drops off of Krakkanon who spawns from large pools in any Fish of the Day area in Pandaria. Ben of the Booming Voice in Valley of the Four Winds will tell you on any day where the spot is. Just fish the large pool until it disappears (can take over 100 casts). You can then kill him (he can be soloed by any ranged class and most melee, it just takes a while).

If it drops, anyone who is in the party with you who tagged him will also get the book. This means if you multi-box fish, that all your toons will get the book as well. I got 5 at once that I then mailed all to one alt and got 5x the benefit. None of my toons had the reputation to buy the book either.

After accepting the quest, this turns into Nat's Fishing Journal, which you can then use to gain up to 50 skill points in fishing. This will NOT increase your fishing rank, so if you are within 50 points of your current cap, you will waste points. I went from 326 to 375, and was still 375 after training the new rank. Unfortunately, you can only train within 25 points of the cap, so you may have to skill up normally (oh, the horror!) to buy the next rank before using this item if you want to maximize its effect.

If you are in a group and the journal drops its trade-able among the other people you are in group so you could give your or the others give theirs to you if someone dosen't need the book for an alt

If you get this from Krakkanon... or from anywhere else, I guess... make sure you've got at least 50 points available to learn before using it!

After a 10 minute solo battle, Krakkanon dropped this for me. In my excitement, I used it as soon as I picked it up.

Your fishing skill has increased to 450.

ok so just to update some of the info on this page this item drops from Krakkanon, it can also be bought from Nat Pagle if you are minimum revered with the anglers. at exalted with guild perk you can buy this for 700g. It seems it is possible to use this item to power level your alts to 600 fishing it would take 8400g at the above price per toon to go from 1-600. If money is no issue for you this is by FAR the best way to level up your alts and get am that fishing raft (oh so useful for chasing that big fish on timeless isle). However there is a drawback you must reach a rep level of good friend with nat pagle on at least 1 of your toons this will require ALLOT of fishing so be warned it may just be easier to level up your alt normally if you just have 1 or 2.

It may not worth the time and farm you may bury in it if you're levelling Nat Pagle rep for this and you are an altoholic like me!
(Good that I didn't learn this the hard way, just did a little research ^^)

Is it just me or... After farming 3 fish a day for... what seemed like an eternity... That he should pass his knowledge down to his BEST FRIEND free of charge? Or perhaps at the cost of a bottle of rum / case of beer? I mean, C'mon Nat... 800g is a little steep. Only 200g less than what a total stranger would have to pay, were it not for your selfishness to have them become your friend prior to even considering selling it. .....Bah! A pox on all your fish!

The only usefulness of this item is if you get it from the drop. By the time you best friend Nat, your fishing will probably be near 600 if not at it.

I started from scratch with fishing and now my skill is at 560. That is just from doing the dailies with the Anglers. I have gotten exalted with the Anglers and still am nowhere near best friends with Nat.

So a real waste and expensive too to buy it from Nat, you are better off farming the drops if you really want it.

I can't purchase this for some reason. The item is red on the vendor screen, and when I try to buy it, it says "That item is locked.". I am revered with the Anglers.

Just a heads up for those like me who want to use this to get the last 50 points to 600. I had 538 skill on my toon, and went fishing to get to 550. Once I got there, I used the book, and got the message "Your Fishing Skill cannot be increased further". As it happens, the book takes any fishing bonuses you currently have in place. At the time, I had +5 from my Fishing Pole, and +75 from my Lure. Once I replaced my pole with my main weapon, I was able to use the book as planned, and hit 600.

If you start fishing only in Draenor with Fishing level 1 you will probably catch Fishing Guide to Draenor. It puts your maximum skill cap up to 700. So you may use Nat's Fishing Journal twelve times to raise your Fishing up to 600 and Nat's Draenic Fishing Journal two times to raise it up to 700 almost immediately.
You should put your fishing pole/fishing hat/fishing boots into your backpack.

i want to cry, i hoped they had changed this from a one time use, this means that to get from 1-600 with the books that it will cost 9600 gold at 800 a book.... ah well back to the dailies

No longer having the error if learning a book happens to go over 600. Had 584 fishing and it took me to 634. Before, it would not allow you to learn the book if you were within 50 points of 600.

The quest from this item has changed. Now the quest increases the Pandaria fishing skill, up to a max of 75.

As of patch 8.0, this item has been changed. This item now rewards 15 fishing skill, however you cannot learn the skill if you have not learned Pandaria Fishing, which is only learnable for players level 78+. Do not waste this on a low level alt, and if they do not already have Pandaria Fishing learned.

If I were to make changes to this item, I would recommend that Blizzard up this number to reward 25 fishing skill and put a level 78 / Pandaren Fishing requirement on the item itself. The reason for the upping of skill reward is that this used to give 50 skill and would be used to level from 450 (Cataclysm cap) to 525 (Pandaria cap) - in other words, 3 books. So, splitting the book into 3 uses for Pandaria cap would make sense.

So as of patch 8.3 this item can be bought or can be looted as a drop off of Krakkanon. I had issues however where as soon as it hit my bags the UI kept automatically accepting the quest. No matter how much I tried to abandon it. I even tried putting it in my bank. When it did the book disappeared and a quest item of a book to read would appear. This made it impossible to transfer the book to another character through the mail.

I contacted a GM and he said he was going to submit a ticket to have it looked at and in the meantime he manually sent my other character a book of his own and had me go ahead and complete the quest. In my case I was already at 75 Pandora fishing and maxed out so this book did me no good but my ALT can use it!

The only thing I did not try to fix the bug was putting it in my bank and and filling my bags and abandoning the quest so it couldn't accept the quest as my bags were full.

This item is currently bugged. If you loot Nat's Fishing Journal it will auto accept and turn the Journal into a quest item to read.
Abandoning the quest will turn the quest item back into the journal momentarily before it auto accepts again and once again turns back into a quest item. This makes it impossible to use the Journal for its actual intended purpose of leveling your alt's fishing skill.
Making it impossible to send to an alt was not the intention of Blizzard.
This item and many others appears to have gotten tied into the World Quest auto accept system. You have probably encountered a few World Quests where the items are just generated in your bags and automatically marked as failed if your inventory is full.
It is a by product of WoW's old spaghetti code and Activision gutting Blizzard staff. They just have not had time to get around to fixing it, low priority.
