Griftah sells this toy for 10,000 Dingy Iron Coins (a rogue only currency).

Barrel of Bandanas spawns a barrel that gives players that use it a random visual bandana buff for 30 minutes.

If you're looking for a quick and easy way to farm up Dingy Iron Coins:

Obtain the quest Powering the Defenses and enter the Tomb of Lights. In the room with Soulbinder Tuulani, you'll see an endless stream of Shadow Infiltrators and Shadow Pillagers pouring out of the portals in the room. Simply stand in the middle of the room and pickpocket them as they fight. They don't aggro and die fairly quickly, so there's always a steady supply of pockets to pick.

In just 10 minutes I had pickpocketed the equivalent of 1472 Dingy Iron Coins.

I'm sure Blizzard will nerf this at some point, so enjoy it while you can.

I looted enough loot for over 10K dingy coins in approximately and hour and half worth of time. I used the mass amounts of mobs in the path of glory area N. of Ft. Wrynn in Talador. I went up through the non-elite side pickpocketed all of those mobs then over to the elites side. When I had finished those mobs the non-elite side had reset and I rinsed and repeated. I started with 1k coins and about hour and a half later I had the 10k needed for the toy.

Within 60mins, I pickpocketed a total of 1069 orcs, they gave me around 430g.

Conclusion: It takes about 80~ mins on average to get enough Dingy Iron Coins for the toy Barrel of Bandanas if you farm at Tombs of Light, can't imagine farming it without this place!

So you want to farm the Barrel of Bandanas toy.

The Dingy Iron Coins page is full of good comments about where and how to farm it, however i'll sum it up a bit.

Step 1 : prepare yourself.
It is not a long grind, but be prepared can make it less painful. A few thing that will help you:

- Glyph of Pick Pocket, a few more yardes for your basic ability are always good.
- Spec into Burst of Speed along with Nightstalker.
- A good macro to spam, my favourite is /cleartarget /targetenemy /stopmacro /cast Pick Pocket plain, simple and effective (Credits to Silvdragon).
- A way to quickly count ingame how many Dingy Iron Coins you will receive for your items, to avoid to continue over the needed amount. (Credits to KiadaZuluhed)

Step 2 : Where to go.
There is plenty of good spot, but the best place is definitely Talador.
Two areas are really good :

- Tomb of Lights (you are sent here with quest Powering the Defenses in Talador questline)
The flow of mobs is pretty much infinite, you dont have to move, mobs will run in your direction when you find the proper position to stand at. Only inconvenient are other players farming at the same time than you.
You can farm roughly 7k per hour here.

- Path of Glory, starts at 68,8
From user Tarano's comment :
Take the road leading into the small fortress. Follow the road around to the top, jump South off the wall, slightly East of where you started. Head East up the Path of Glory, all the way to the gate into Tanaan Jungle. For the large pack in the center infront of the gate, you can pickpocket the Orcs on the outer edge, and the second row from the edge, all the way around it. You can also get both the Orcs riding the Clefthoofs. Once done, head back to the start and they should be reset in less than a minute.

I was able to get ~6000 coins in 30 minutes using this route.

Following those advices, you'll be able to farm yourBarrel of Bandanas in 90-120 minutes.

NOTE : after 6.2 patch, the Path of Glory method is no longer viable, due to changes on it. Now the area is pretty much empty.

By the way, Tanaan mobs gives a lot of good items to exchange for Dingy Iron Coins. I'll update this comment as soon as i get good info about it.

The Macro now also prints how many Dingy Iron Coins are left until you got 10k Coins by reading out the amount of coins you already got in your currencies tab plus the amount of coins you will get when fencing your loot. Which is exactly the amount of coins you need to get your brand-new toy Barrel of Bandanas.

The Output should be something like that:

inv: 1621 to go: 4356

Which tells you, that you get 1621 Coins for fencing the items you got in your inventory and afterwards you still need 4356 Coins to get to 10k Coins.

Another good spot to farm Dingy Iron Coins beside the Tomb of Light would be the Ironfist Harbor, south-west of Nagrand. If ever Blizzard nerfs the Tomb of Light, that'd be the best place to farm the coins.

Throne of Kil'Jaeden in Tanaan forest is a VERY GOOD place to farm for dingys, 1 lap around the zone can net in between 1400 and 4000 dingy coins (it takes around 9-15 minutes to pickpocket all of the demons and orcs).

EDIT: Updated the Sculpted Memorial Urn value. Note that after you got the toy, you can change the 10000 number at the end of the counting macro to 3000 so you know how much you need to do the 2 weekly quests Da Big Score and An Even Bigga Score, so you finish both in one cast of Griftah's summon at once. Do not farm the additional 5000 coins for If You're Sure, you'll regret it.

I only got this to add to my toy collection, but I have to say it's one of the most useless toys I have so far. It would of been worth getting if it wasn't class specific and you where able to have white soulbound head gear from it, but no. It's a random buff that lasts 30 minutes for rogues, disappointing to say the least.

Here is an updated Dingy Iron Coins guide for patch 7.0! There are some changes to be made aware of.

The previously very helpful Glyph of Pick Pocket ("Increases the range of your Pick Pocket ability by 5 yards") has been removed.
Realm hopping is more challenging. In order to be transferred to a new server, someone in the group that you are joining needs to be in the same zone as you for you to be transferred over. If no one else is, you stay put.
With the new transmog system in place, all gear you purchase from Griftah will have the appearances saved permanently into your collection. As such, you can delete these items and you will still be able to transmog their looks indefinitely.

Let's dive right in!

Preamble

This mini-guide is tailored to those who may not main a Rogue. Perhaps you, like myself, may have levelled one for the Insane in the Membrane achievement, and/or Barrel of Bandanas. As such, I've included the simplest methods, that require the least work (aside from levelling the character). As well, you don't need to know any combat mechanics or rotations to use these methods - there are ways listed below that shouldn't require you to fight anything!

Do note that the Toy, Barrel of Bandanas is only usable by Rogues, but will still count on ALL characters towards achievements like Remember to Share (the new achievement that rewards the mount Mechanized Lumber Extractor).

A primer on Pick Pocket

This ability allows you to obtain extra loot from many Humanoid mobs, available only to Rogues. This is in addition to any loot you would obtain if you subsequently killed the mob.

Pick Pocket requires that you are close to the mob in question (melee range).
Pick Pocket can only be used when stealthed.
Certain items, like Worn Troll Dice and Decahedral Dwarven Dice can only be obtained via pickpocketing.
Pickpocketing mobs that are Neutral will not aggro them, unless you attack them otherwise in some way.
Once a mob is pickpocketed (by any Rogue), it's pockets are "depleted" for a period of time (typically about 5 minutes) before you can get loot from it again.

Alternatively if the mob dies and a new one respawns, its pockets can be picked.

Sprint is useful while pickpocketing, and Rogue talents like (Asssassination, Subtlety) and Hit and Run (Outlaw) are as well.

What are Dingy Iron Coins?

This currency is exclusive to Rogues, and is obtained by pickpocketing in Draenor. You don't get these coins directly - there are items you pickpocket that you can "fence" to earn the coins.

How do I get Dingy Iron Coins?

The first time you pickpocket in Draenor, you will receive a Secretive Whistle. Using this item will summon Griftah, a shady vendor who will both pay Dingy Iron Coins for the goods you have pilfered, and also sells items that cost varying amounts of Dingy Iron Coins.

Pickpocketing humanoids in Draenor will yield the aforementioned items that can be "fenced", or traded into Griftah for coins.
After you have collected a stockpile of these trinkets, simply use Secretive Whistle to summon Griftah, then select "<Fence your loot>" when you speak to him. He will then take all of the loot you have pickpocketed from your bags, and give you a lump sum of the total coins they are worth (based on the chart below).

Below is a summary of these items. Beside each is listed the number of Dingy Iron Coins you'll get for the item, and where they can be obtained.

Further Information

Tanaan Jungle mobs only yield Green (Uncommon) or higher quality items
The above percentages chances are per item. For example, in Non-Tanaan zones, Locket of Dreams, Chain of Hopes, and Choker of Nightmares each have a 5-6% chance to be Pickpocketed (total 15-18% chance of getting a Rare item), whereas Glowing Ancestral Idol and Magma-Infused War Beads each have a ~3% chance to be pickpocketd (total 6% of getting an Epic item).
As a currency, Dingy Iron Coins are not in your bags, but rather can be found on your Currency tab under Character Info (C)
The hard cap on Dingy Iron Coins is 20,000, so don't stockpile too much!
Secretive Whistle has a 15 minute cooldown, and Griftah will stick around for about 1 minute before disappearing.
Each loot item stacks to 20 in your bags. You should plan to have some bag space available based on where you are pickpocketing:

There are 14 different items that you will stockpile when pickpocketing in zones outside of Tanaan Jungle.
There are 16 different items that you will collect when pickpocketing within Tanaan Jungle.

Areas to Pick Pocket

After doing some testing, I would most recommend the Tomb of Lights in Talador as a spot to farm. This is an ideal spot for a number of reasons:

Minimal movement is required
Mobs respawn automatically (NPCs do the killing, so you never have to leave stealth)
There is a steady stream of NPCs that spawn
The mobs at level 94, so you never get forcibly removed from stealth
On a PvP server, the only other players you encounter are low level characters questing (typically level 94-97)

This is barring other Rogues, of course!

Each mob yields a small amount of money, which can add up

On average during testing, this amounted to 40-50s per mob

Tomb of Lights

To get to the Tomb of Lights, you need to fly to to the entrance (it is marked with an icon on the map, even if you do not have coordinates).

On going down the long sets of stairs that take a right turn you come into a room with 3 doorways; you will want to enter the room on the left. This is where you will work your magic!

The coordinates to doorway into this room are on the map of the tomb.
You will know you are in the right room based on the two portals that each look like a Warlock Demonic Gateway.
The portals will constantly be spawning Shadow Pillagers and Shadow Infiltrators that run towards the NPCs at the end of the room (Auchenai Defenders and Auchenai Soulpriests).
The NPCs kill these mobs fairly quickly, so you can pickpocket the mobs as they spawn and wait for new ones to appear - it is a never-ending, steady source!
You don't want to sap these mobs, as that will delay them getting killed and new ones respawning. Rather, you can cover both portals by positioning yourself where the two streams of mobs converge, fairly close to the NPCs. Simply sidestep left and right and pickpocket the mobs as they run past.

Use the Target + Pickpocket Macro listed below to make this even easier!

Sometimes 2 mobs spawn from the same portal simultaneously (or close to). Simply pickpocket one and watch where the other runs so you can chase it down.
This spot can be used to farm coins for an unlimited time, although there may be competition from other Rogues!
In my experience, with no competition I was able to farm 1700-1900 Dingy Iron Coins every 15 minutes (at which point the cooldown for Secretive Whistle would be up and I could fence my goods).

In that time I would also net 80-100g in coin from the pockets of these mobs.

Tanaan Jungle

Tanaan Jungle can be a very lucrative spot to pickpocket for Dingy Iron Coins. Keep in mind that the most lucrative items that can be fenced, the "Tanaan-only" epic items listed above, cannot be obtained elsewhere (most notably the rare but very valuable Sculpted Memorial Urn, worth 250 coins!).

The drawbacks to Tanaan are:

You have to always be looking for new mobs to pickpocket (new Humanoids).

Sometimes you travel a significant distance to find new targets.

Given that all mobs are level 100 and some are Elites, you will sometimes be forced from stealth and will enter combat, requiring you to kill the attackers.

This also makes you vulnerable to ganking (on PvP servers) as there are usually many members of the opposite faction around.

Tanaan mobs typically do not have any money in their pockets.

Despite these drawbacks, you can potentially net much more coins per hour in Tanaan Jungle, with an increased risk of combat (which you may want to avoid if you are unaccustomed to or not inclined to engage in combat with your rogue, or your gear isn't that great). Rates of 2,000-3,000 coins every 15 minutes have been reported.

Below is a description of how you can use your ill-gotten gains!

Quests

There are a few weekly quests available that can net you some gold for a little bit of time invested! These are offered by and completed via Griftah when he is summoned. The first two of these quests will net you a total of per week (for 3000 Dingy Iron Coins).
Note that these quests are entirely optional.

Non-Tanaan Item Count

This macro lists how many Dingy Iron Coins you have, as well as what the items in your inventory are cumulatively worth. It includes items pickpocketed outside of Tanaan Jungle. Adding together the two totals will give you the full amount of coins you currently possess.

This macro allows you to sap and pickpocket with a single button. It will also put a raid marker on your target. You do not have to worry about targeting any mobs either, as it is a mouseover macro. Simply mouse over the appropriate mob and click the macro.
For it to work optimally, you must be in range to pickpocket, and also must be standing still at the moment the macro is pressed. This macro is ideal to use in Tanaan Jungle.

Barrel of Bandanas can now be bought by Griftah for 50 000 Coins of Air in Legion's rogue class hall.

If you right-click on the barrel, it will apply a 30 min buff called Stylish Bandana, which will make your character wear a random bandana.

It is possible to remove the buff and re-apply bandanas to change them to a colour that fit you.
