Travel to Un'Goro Crater and use Torch of Pyrreth to uncover and retrieve Inert Peculiar Key.]

Equip your title.

Speak with Dalaran Survivor in Dornogal to get the quest Ratts' Race.

Head to Azj-Kahet to pick up the Unfinished Note.

Pick up the Hastily Scrawled Note, also in Azj-Kahet (On a ledge high above, not down in the city!).

Head to the cave near the border of Azj-Kahet and Hallowfall and pick up Water-Resistant Note. The given coordinates are for the cave entrance from Hallowfall.

Enter the Pillar-nest Vosh cave in Azj-Kahet and turn right. Head forward until you see the NPC Agaricus Festerbloom, climb up the wall behind it, and then jump down the 4th "spider-hole" from the left to find Ratts in a hidden cave at the bottom. Allow her RP to finish, then pick up the dropped Peculiar Gem.

With both Peculiar Gem and Inert Peculiar Key in your bags, click the Inert Peculiar Key combine them and obtain Peculiar Key.

With the Peculiar Key in your inventory, use Torch of Pyrreth at the entrance to Karazhan Catacombs to reveal the entrance to Ratts' Revenge.

You must do all the following steps IN ORDER to fully progress through the puzzle. (Technically, slight variation in the order is possible, but to avoid running into issues, we strongly recommend just doing it as listed.)
Your progress will be saved if you relog, die, or leave the Ratts' Revenge instance.
Some steps may list requirements to use certain toys, pets, etc. or summon certain mobs. You may find that while progressing through the steps, some are completed simply by your character being in the correct area. This is because many steps have group or shard-wide credit enabled, and only require that someone in the party or vicinity do the steps as listed. It may be worth it to go check if you can complete a certain step without purchasing any associated items if you are concerned about spending gold.
Progress is character-specific, not warband-wide. Start the secret on the character you intend to complete it on.
Revisiting the Catacombs is NOT required after every step. Follow along with the clues if you wish to, but otherwise, unless explicitly stated, your orbs will show up when you correctly complete a step regardless of whether you head back or not.

1 O'Clock - Love

Visit each of the below locations while Torch of Pyrreth is active, or use it when near each object/NPC. Each time you do so, you should gain a stack of The Light of Their Love.

Once you have gained 3 stacks total of The Light of Their Love, this step is complete.

Find the Ny'alotha Obelisk in the BFA version of Vale of Eternal Blossoms. If you need to switch phases, speak with Zidormi.

While near the Obelisk, summon your Perky Pug.

Put your "Dogg-Saron" Costume or "Yipp-Saron" Costume on the Perky Pug.

Use your Twitching Eyeball, All-Seeing Eyes, or Gift of N'Zoth.

Target the Ny'alotha Obelisk and type /pray in chat to emote praying.

If done correctly, Key of Shadows should be added to your inventory, completing this step. This item will be used to unlock two more doors, the Chamber Door and Door 430, in the Karazhan Catacombs for the next step.

The Perky Pug is a reward from the Looking For Multitudes achievement.

The "Yipp-Saron" Costume can be purchased from Hallow's End merchants during Hallow's End.

The "Dogg-Saron" Costume is sold by Vashti the Wandering Merchant in Azsuna for .

The Twitching Eyeball toy and the Gift of N'Zoth are a quest reward and a quest item from the Crucible of Storms storyline in Battle for Azeroth.

The All-Seeing Eyes toy is acquired by combining the All-Seeing Right Eye and the All-Seeing Left Eye which drop off Gaze of N'Zoth in Uldum and Will of N'Zoth in Vale of the Eternal Blossoms respectively.

Farm or purchase your "Lucky" items as listed in the "What You Will Need" section at the beginning of the guide. 5-7 items total seem to work for most people.

Head inside the newly unlocked Chamber Door room and fish up an Astral Key from the Astral Soup. The soup is in a bowl on the shelf, use your Fishing ability near it and your bobber will land in the bowl. This may take several casts.

Open the nearby Astral Chest to receive Starry-Eyed Goggles. Learn the toy and use it to get the buff Starry-Eyed Goggles.

The buff allows you to see various machines. Interacting with a machine, such as the Decryption Console just to the left of the chest, gives you another buff Input Sequence. This adds a new spell to your spellbook - "Number Sequences," the ability to enter a number sequence. You can also use this WeakAura to more easily enter sequences.

The code for each console is listed with its coordinate below. Once a correct code is entered, the corresponding console will unlock a nearby container, allowing you to loot a Piece of Hate. Ensure you have all your "Lucky" items in your bags when attempting to do the final console.

This step is complete when you have obtained all 9 Piece of Hate. You will need to use these in a future step, so hang onto them!

With the Key of Shadows in hand, we can return to the Ratts' Revenge instance. Use the key to open the 2 previously locked doors near the fountain room, giving us access to 2 new rooms!

When you head inside the newly unlocked Chamber Door room, you'll see a variety of new items, some interactable and some not. Players with the Find Fish ability enabled noticed that there is a fishable node called Astral Soup marked inside the Chamber Door room. Now that we can access it, we can cast Fishing while nearby, and the bobber will land in the Astral Soup in the bowl on the shelf! You may fish up a Wisp Dust, but within a few casts, you should receive an Astral Key.

To the right of the shelf with the Astral Soup is an Astral Chest, which we can use our newly obtained key to open. You will receive the Starry-Eyed Goggles toy, which you can learn and then use to gain the buff Starry-Eyed Goggles. The buff allows the player to see new interactable objects, notably several Decryption Consoles around the Catacombs.

Newman's Landing refers to the location of the same name off the coast of Dun Morogh. The zone ID of Dun Morogh is one.

Master Nguyen refers to Master Nguyen, whose title is <The Five Sorcerers>.

Snaggle refers to Snaggle Sixtrigger. Sixtrigger is his last name.

'rels refers to The Seven fight in Blackrock Depths. All the bosses' names end in 'rel (like Doom'rel or Dope'rel) and well, there are seven of them.

4 O'Clock - Doom

Purchase Scroll of Fel Binding from Vashti the Wandering Merchant or have a Warlock friend available to help.

Head to Uther's Tomb in Western Plaguelands and summon a Doomguard using either Scroll of Fel Binding, or help from your Warlock who can cast Ritual of Doom.

Click any of the four Hidden Graffiti on the floor (only visible while Doomguard is still alive and inside the building) to complete this step.

Prepare a battle pet team using only "secret" pets. Some suggestions for teams and strategies can be found in this news post, or in the Xu-Fu pet guide article for the fight.

Go to Timeless Isle and find the entrance to the Cave of Lost Spirits.

Once inside, find Zarhym (you may have to wait until he spawns as he is a rare with a short respawn timer) and speak with him to enter the Spirit Realm.

Do NOT loot any chests, Zarhym bones, and be sure to avoid any Timeless Spirit mobs. Find Jeremy Feasel at the back of the cave and challenge him to a pet battle with your chosen team of "secret" pets.

Once beaten, he will offer the quest Master of Secrets. Complete it to obtain a Golden Muffin.

With your 9 Piece of Hate and Golden Muffin in your inventory, speak with the Pointless Treasure Salesman inside the goblin statue in Booty Bay.

Purchase Relic of Crystal Connections from the Treasure Salesman, completing this step and allowing you to enter and exit the room with the Humming Crystal above its entrance for future steps.

Use Torch of Pyrreth at each of the Altar of Acquisition in the table below to reveal the associated NPC. All altars are located in Northern Stranglethorn, in the uninstanced version of Zul'gurub.

Use one item from each category listed in the table below near each revealed NPC to appease them. For example, the Blood Altar requires you to be mounted on a mount with "blood" in the name, have a pet out with "blood" in the name. and have the buff from the Throbbing Blood Orb all at the same time. You will know the NPC is pleased with you once they give a chat message: The spirit departs, satisfied with your acquisitions.

Once all 5 NPCs are appeased, use your Starry-Eyed Goggles and look at the wall between the Blood and Void altars and you will find a Chest of Acquisitions.

Loot Ancient Shaman Blood from the chest, completing this step.

Head to Isle of the Watchers in Azsuna and summon your Fledgling Warden Owl pet.

Visit the Owl of the Watchers statues, clicking on one if you are able to interact with it. If you receive the <You can't do that right now> error text, check the next statue. If you successfully interact, the statue will have a colored effect around it. You may need to keep clicking and wait until you finally see the magnifying glass animation over your character model and your pet flying in a small circle twice, indicating that it has received the buff.

Your goal is to receive one of each "colored" buff (red, purple, green, and blue) for your Fledgling Warden Owl pet. You may have to make several rounds to collect all 4 buffs. You will know your pet has all 4 buffs when it permanently gains a small white spell effect above its head.

You can use the 4 owl statues just before the entrance to Vault of the Wardens to track your buff status. You will see an owl with a glowing color in the center of it corresponding to each buff you have collected so far.

Enter the Vault of the Wardens dungeon and kill all the bosses, up to and including the end-boss Cordana Felsong.

With Cordana dead, pick up the Elune's Light orb from Glowing Sentry (the mechanic used to see her walls through the fight), and climb back to just before the first boss's (Tirathon Saltheril) room.

The room on the right leading to Tirathon will now be open. Bring your Elune's Light orb and owl pet to the center of the room to spawn a Sentry Statue.

Loot the Sentry Statue and you will recieve a Sentry Statue for your inventory.

Head back down to Glazer's boss room. When you enter his boss room, right before the last set of double stairs, place the Sentry Statue in the center of the overlooking ledge between the staircases.

Interact with the placed Sentry Statue to spawn a puzzle similar to the old World Quest Vault of the Wardens: Startup Sequence. The objective of the puzzle is to lower all the statues down into their tile. You can use the watcher-solver website or owlpuzzlesolver website to assist with solving the puzzle.

Once you solve the puzzle, loot the Warden's Mirror from the Treasure of the Wardens that spawns where you placed the Sentry Statue, completing this step.

Deposit the Warden's Mirror and Ancient Shaman Blood into the Enigma Machine inside the Ratts' Revenge instance, back at the Karazhan Catacombs.

Interact with the Enigma Machine and click "BEGIN"

Interact with the Enigma Machine again, but this time click "SUBMIT"

Search the whole of the Karazhan Catacombs, counting the number of Rats that have spawned in the instance.

Return to the Karazhan Catacombs and you will find that you can now properly interact with the Enigma Machine, and are now presented with two new with options when doing so.

Choose each dialogue option to insert both the Ancient Shaman Blood and Warden's Mirror from the previous two steps into the machine. This will activate the machine and give you the option to pull the "BEGIN" lever, as well as the option to pull the "SUBMIT" lever. Choose the "BEGIN" option first, then choose the "SUBMIT" option. At this point, you are ready to solve the next puzzle.

You can complete this step with the help of up to two other friends! (The instance cap is 3 players). If any party members are on the same step, any locks you open will count for them as well.

Search the whole of the Ratts' Revenge instance, counting the number of Rats that have spawned. Do not count Catacomb Rats. Kill all of the rats as you go, the Rats you are counting, and the Catacomb Rats that you aren't counting won't respawn as long as you don't leave the instance. We don't want them running over the plates and activating them.

Once you have counted and killed all the Rats, have players move, or move the statues to the pressure plates according to the table above. It does not matter which statues you use. To move a statue, click on it, then start moving away, and you will find that the statue will be dragged along with you. The plate will light up with a color depending on the number of entities on it: 1 entity will light upon the plate blue, 2 is green, 3 is yellow, 4 is orange, and 5 is purple. For more than 5 entities, the colors loop back around starting from blue once again.

Once the statues have been positioned correctly, interact with the Enigma Machine and click "SUBMIT." If done correctly, you will see the following text: <You hear a mechanism unlock>, see the magnifying glass animation, and a new number of Rats will spawn within the instance.

You will now repeat the prior steps 2 more times, starting with counting the rats, and ending with going back to the Enigma Machine to hit "SUBMIT."

Do NOT press "BEGIN" again after the very first time. Doing so will cause you to be zapped, resetting your progress.

Unlocking the 3rd mechanism will trigger the following text in your chat: <A great lock has been released.> This unlock will allow you to access the vault north of the orb room, solving the Enigma Machine and completing this step!

How We Solved It
When pressing "SUBMIT" the first time, nothing seems to actually happen, initially. However, it was determined that a number of Rat NPCs spawn throughout the Catacombs when this is done! These rats are distinctly separate NPCs from the Catacomb Rats that have been found in the instance so far. Choosing the "SUBMIT" option once more causes your character to take damage, and prompts a flame spout animation next to the Enigma Machine. When checking the amount of damage taken in the Combat Log, players found that the number was always a multiple of 1123. Every "SUBMIT" pull also seemed to spawn a new number of rats, x, where x * 1123 was the amount of damage taken from a failed "SUBMIT" pull.

Players also found that dragging around the various statues to the "pressure plates" found around the instance seemed to sometimes cause a mechanism within the Enigma Machine to unlock! From this point on, a large amount of testing took place to try and understand the relationship between the number of Rats that spawned and what seemed to successfully trigger an unlock. Some specific combinations were found to work consistently, and from here, the solution was slowly derived.

The solution is as follows:
Using the formula n = (# of Rats * Lock #) mod 20, determining 'n' helps us find out how many statues (or players, or other NPCs) need to be placed on which specific pressure plate. The amount of entities needed on a plate is equivalent to n / 7 (rounded up) and the plate position is n mod 7.

7 is used in the expressions because there are seven total pressure plates. The 20 from the "mod 20" portion of the expression is hinted at by the note attached to the Enigma Machine that reads as follows:

This piece of junk hasn't worked for 20 years.

The plate positions are determined by interpreting them as a clockface with the Enigma Machine's location being the center. This can be seen in the map above, with the north-most plate being labeled "1," the one below it being "2" and so on, clockwise.

Here is a hypothetical example of a solution for lock #2, where 8 Rats appear after choosing "SUBMIT:"

n = (8 * 2) mod 20, therefore n = 16. The number of statues needed is 16 / 7 = 3 (rounded up), and the pressure plate position is 16 mod 7 = 2. So the solution would be 3 statues (or players) on Pressure Plate 2.

The community developed charts such as the one above to allow for easier completion of this step. You'll find that this step currently only requires 3 locks instead of 7 due to a quality-of-life hotfix shortly after it was solved.

9 O'Clock - Cipher

Go to the following coordinates, in Azj-Kahet, where we originally got the Peculiar Gem from Ratts:

Use your Starry-Eyed Goggles toy and look up to find the platform with the Humming Crystal above it.
Target the Humming Crystal and use your Relic of Crystal Connections to teleport to the platform.
Click the Decryption Console and enter the sequence 84847078 then hit the "SUBMIT" option, the same way you did for the consoles used in the 3 O'Clock step.
The nearby Encrypted Chest will unlock, allowing you to loot Keys to Incognitro, the Indecipherable Felcycle and awarding you the Feat of Strength Ratts' Revenge!

Head back to Azj-Kahet, to Ratts' Lair, accessible from the hole in Pillar-nest Vosh that we visited to acquire the Peculiar Gem. Once inside the cave, put on your Starry-Eyed Goggles, and look up to find the spectral platform with the Humming Crystal above it. Target the Humming Crystal and use Relic of Crystal Connections.

Using the Relic will teleport you up to a platform, where you will find a console similar to those used during Orb 3. Interacting with the console will add the Number Sequences spell to your spellbook once again. Enter the code 84847078 and then press "SUBMIT." Doing so should unlock the nearby chest, allowing you to loot it. You will receive Keys to Incognitro, the Indecipherable Felcycle, and the Feat of Strength Ratts' Revenge!

How We Solved It
With the vault room now open, we can explore to find some of the clues that will lead us to the solution for this orb. Before we enter, though, take note of the Cryptic Plaque above the doorway. While it has been visible throughout the puzzle so far, its associated room now being open points to at least some of its contents being relevant to this step. Some of the notable objects in this room include Ratts' Journal: The Final Chapter?, the large Naga Portal in the middle of the room that also causes our Torch of Pyrreth to react, and some intricate linework found on a wall.

After some further research, the community discovered where the Naga portal and linework assets can be found throughout the world. An identical Naga portal can be found in Darkshore. The naga just north of the portal have a chance to drop Indecipherable Plans, Indecipherable Pages, Sandshift Relic, and Sand Shifter, items that were not previously part of their drop tables. The linework can be found outside of the entrance to the dungeon Eye of Azshara. If you enter the dungeon and run towards the northeast area of the instance, you will find an overturned ship laying on the beach. Walking to the ship and looking up will reveal tiny stars clearly configured to say "VIG."

The first portion of the text on the Cryptic Plaque gives us clues on where to start putting the pieces together:

To be like me you'll need to know
The missing rhyme
The crystal's glow
The stars above
The space below
The time of now
for long ago

To be like Ratts, and get her motorcycle, we'll need to know all of the information that follows. The missing rhyme can be linked to the missing bits of the Final Journal Chapter within the vault room. The "final key" is meant to be a rhyme of some sort. The crystal's glow is referencing the crystals that we have interacted with so far, so we may be on the lookout for another one. "The space below" is a callback to one of the first locations we visited for the secret... so it's time to revisit Ratts' Lair in Azj-Kahet, where she originally dropped the Peculiar Gem during our confrontation. Doing so leads to the discovery of a spectral platform, visible only while using the Starry-Eyed Goggles, hinted by "the stars above." Above this platform is another Humming Crystal, meaning we can use our Relic of Crystal Connections on it. Using the Relic will teleport you up to a platform, where you will find a console similar to those used during Orb 3. Interacting with the console will add the Number Sequences spell to your spellbook once again. Now, we need to figure out the code.

Looking at the Cryptic Plaque once more, the last line of it is JYPFFQVY, a likely candidate for usage in decryption. The reason we are lead to believe decryption is involved is due to a couple different things; There is a Enigmatic Decrypting Device that can be found within the Catacombs hinting towards the concept's usage. The clues from the Naga portal also reinforce this. All the items dropped by the Naga can be interpreted as references to ciphers as they use the terms "indecipherable" and "shift." A shift, or Vigenère cipher is one of the most well-known encryption methods. This is also what the stars spelling out "VIG" in Eye of Azshara must be referencing!

The final solution requires us to decrypt JYPFFQVY using a Vigenère, or shift, cipher using multiple keys. We are also nudged into assuming that we are using a 0 as the first character in our alphabet while decrypting, due to the sparkling "Hidden Zeroth Letter of the Alphabet and Other Mysteries of Linguistic Mathematics" book found in the Catacombs.

The first key we must use is "11232024," the WoW 20th Anniversary date. We are clued into this by the lines in the Cryptic Plaque stating "The time of now for long ago," and the Decryption Console in Ratts' Lair giving positive feedback when it is entered. This decryption attempts returns the text "IXNCDQTU."

The next decryption requires us to use the line "The final key is why I stay" from Ratts' Journal. As seen in some of her other journal entries around the Catacombs, Ratts is incredibly passionate about creating puzzles for others, and is a firm believer in the idea that the enjoyment from participating in the puzzle itself should outweigh the reward of solving it. She explicitly uses the line "the love of play" to describe why she thinks she is justified in creating potentially incomplete or unsolvable puzzles in Ratts' Journal, Pages 92-93. This phrase also happens to rhyme with "stay" which fits the "missing rhyme" condition from the Cryptic Plaque. Prefacing the phrase with "for" due to the final two lines in the "Final Chapter" of Ratts' journal creates a 16-letter long phrase. Players found that every localization had a similar, 16-letter long rhyming phrase for the same notion. The phrase being 16 letters long also means it can be split in half, allowing us to use both halves as 8-character long decryption keys!

Using the plain text "IXNCDQTU" and applying a cipher key of "FORTHELO" (the first half of "for the love of play") produces "CIWJWLHF" as our cipher text. Using the second half of the phrase means we must apply a cipher key of "VEOFPLAY" to the cipher text we just generated. This yields "HDHDG0GH"

If we interpret this text as numbers, where 0=0, A=1, B=2, etc., the string we end up with is 84847078!

We can also use numbers to decrypt, as shown below:

-19 4 -19 -23 -20 0 7 -19 (Convert "VEOFPLAY" to numbers where A=1, B=2, etc. and subtract)
8 4 8 4 7 0 7 8 (Add 27 to negative numbers; we use 27 because we have the extra 0 at the beginning of our alphabet)

Now that we have found our code, we can finally enter it back at the console in Ratts' Lair!

Epilogue

Although the previous step awards players with the mount, closing this chapter, there are many things that suggest that Ratts' story is not over yet. We still haven't actually tracked down Ratts, which was the original objective of the Ratts' Revenge scenario. Solving the 9th orb also affected the instance, unlocking the crystal room and the room with the 3 cats inside it. The clock inside the cat room has also disappeared, and the remaining three orbs in the Incognitro room have shown up, albeit as void-purple instead of light gold.

While things have been left mostly open-ended, the community has strong reason to believe that the puzzle is on pause for now. An additional interpretation of the final code, 84847078, can be found by converting the numbers to ASCII using the same method we did for the 4 O'Clock orb. When we split up the code as 84 84 70 74, 84=T, 70=F, and 78=N. This gives us "TTFN," a common abbreviation for "Ta-ta for now!"

Our current understanding is that this is all the content available for this secret at this time, and we will have to wait and see what Ratts has in store for us in the future.

There is an error with the chest coords inside the catacombs. The machine with the code 10638 isnt at /way #46 43.42 64.31, its actually at /way #49.88 64.98.
When you look at the map the coords in the guide point to the room in the lower left right next to a watcher statue. But the machine is where the fire spraying statue is, at the northern wall.

RE: the lucky slot machine's - I finally got my piece of hate from this portion while holding all the "lucky" items, wearing the lucky shirt, and using SEVEN 7's for the code (was an accident, but that was the one that gave me the thing after spending 30 minutes putting in Five 7's.) No idea if it was the code that did it or if it was just a coincidence... but I thought I should mention that if the other options don't work for a while, try "7777777"

Found another clue in Valdrakken , Artisan Market 31.29,61.91 location sends you on a merry chase through Zul'Grub with the code being The Princess needs light Poobah. She is location in south stranglethorn on the Jaguero Island and there is 3 golden bowls that need to be lit at the same time so you need 3 people to complete it. One of the notes the Ratts Lair is the crystal bell with the orbs and felcycle is location state we have to work together. Was not able to find treasure no one else was there to help.

I like how I have the BFA quests all done on a previous toon, but nothing works, I assume because I did all the secrets quests on a different character that was boosted so none of the prior xpac quests are done. I have Zidormi on my BFA toon but the obelisk doesn't show up regardless of whether I talk to her. No Zidormi on my boosted toon with the secrets quests done but I see the obelisk, but it doesn't work I assume because "wrong time line". Great quest design.

The guide needs to be updated to note that you can't do this in War Mode, and for me, I was in the current time line and several other players were doing it and I got the key even though I wasn't in the BFA timeline.

Regarding the Prologue in the Hidden Cave in Azj-Kahet: Ratts broke for me because I was in a party - she kept teleporting away and then respawning. Just leave your party and she should leave for good and drop the gem!

for those having trouble with the 5x5 grid puzzle, i opted to open two instances of paint and screenshotted the puzzle 50 times total to get the various layouts without having to employ my terribad memory and program them into the grid, camera angles were an issue but nothing went wrong, solver popped out a code that worked first time.

7 O'Clock - You don't 'Interact' with the Watcher statues. You need to find the ones which are glowing with the colours required, and simply stand next to them with your owl until it does the fly round, you get the lens, and the pet will flash the matching colour.
The Sentry Statue: This is placed on the small raised area immediately as you enter the room(Where the old puzzle activation item was, naturally), NOT in the centre as suggested in the guide. It'll knock you back a bit and grow to a proper statue.

For 7 O'Clock - to get the Warden Mirror: The guide states "Head back down to Glazer's boss room, and place the Sentry Statue in the center", but you place the statue on the little round platform between the set of stairs, before you get to the owl-square floor. Hope that helps someone else!

I completed 4 O'Clock - Doom today. I am a Warlock, but didn't need to do a Ritual of Doom. As soon as I arrived, there were about 5 Doomguards already being summoned (I was not in a party). i simply had to go into the Tomb and the graffitties were visible and clickable for as long as at least one Doomgaurd remained active.
Checked with the macro and it was being marked as completed, and went back to the Catacombs to double check the sphere was in the 4 o'clock position, and it was indeed there. All completed without the need to summon anything.

For step 2 you DO NOT need any pet costume or even a dog—just head to obelisk coordinates (it is on top of the building) and WAIT for anyone who got all the required stuff.
No need to party or group. You will see the obelisk
Use /pray and wait ~2 mins

For those going crazy on the Slots
my wife and I collected all of the lucky items
There is a point where you might see an emote, "You feel quite lucky"
We came back and still could do five 7s and get a spyglass confirm icon over the head.
(We did ALL of them as five 7s)
Then we both did one slot of three 7s and we both got the hate.
We did not do the same slot either.

Hello all,

Regarding the 8 o'clock orb, I can't seem to get past lock 3, no matter what I do, (some other people are also experiencing this) including making sure all rats are dead including the ones that may interfere with the pressure plates. I also make sure that all other statues are moved off the plates after each new lock. Every time I submit on lock 3, I get shocked. I've tried this now 10 times and no matter what I do/try, I still get shocked, but only on lock 3. Does anyone have any advice as to what I should do? Thank you.

My wife and I are trying to complete the 2 o'clock portion of the secret and have run into a roadblock. Both of our characters cannot see Zidormi in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms to change it into the BFA timeline. After researching it seems like we basically have to complete the entire BFA storyline on these characters in order to get Zidormi to appear. Is there any way around this? We've done the entire Secrets questline on these characters to get the title and start the Ratt's Revenge questline and find Ratt's hideout.

they've added pet battles to the game some 12 years ago, and AFAIK it has never interfered with any other aspect of the game than pets and pet battles itself.
this is the first time you need to engage in pet battles to get something that is not a pet or maybe a toy for pets.

i won't be progressing further than the 4th pillar and saving the items in the bank until they either change it or i somehow have a gigantic change of heart another 10 years from now.

On the 3 o'clock series:
I have 8/9 Pieces of Hate. I have 5 lucky items (wearing shirt, 4 other items in my bags). I am in the cycle room with all the "Feeling Lucky?" Slot Machines. I interact with the slot machine and enter '77777' and get the hourglass above my head. I've done this hundreds of times and not received the last Piece of Hate. Question: do the slot machines disappear after receiving the Piece of Hate? Any ideas of what's going on? I have retraced my steps to confirm I did not miss one of the other chests/PoH. I am certain I am on the last one.

⚠️If you need to reset your daily lockout on Zarhym, you can use the Ghostly Brazier located near the top of the spiral staircase within Ratts' Revenge to do so. However, it does not work. You can reset him but cannot talk to him to get into the spirit world. You need to fully log out and back in to speak to him.

Edit: It appears that logging out on to another character and then back to the original one DOES indeed do the trick !
2 o'clock - Pray. I went there before I had done 1 o'clock and the Nyloththa Obelisk wasn't visible, however after doing part 1 I went back,
summoned my Perky Pug and simply prayed ( I didn't want to spend the 25k in gold for the Dogg-Saron outfit ).
5 mins later the key appeared in my bags.
5 O'clock-Muffin. For those who don't know, the Pointless Merchant Salesman is a skeleton behind the big chest in the statue. I spent 40 mins thinking I had done something wrong before noticing this little known bit of information.

Quick thing about "2 O'Clock - Pray" I either had to resummon my perky pug after using the toy or had to rename it to its default name for it to work. Check your pet's name to be safe.

For anyone wondering if you have the 4 buffs for puzzle 7: If you go into the entrance to the Warden dungeon you can see the statues lit in the corresponding colours. So you do not need to go to the bike to see if you have all the buff.

With the 7 o'clock secret I'm not sure if it's linked or not and couldn't see a comment but there are 4 owl statues as you walk down the stairs to the entrance of the dungeon, they are filled with the same colours of the buffs your get from the owls outside, not sure if this is a way to see if you have activated all the colours before going into the dungeon part of the step.

For 6 O'Clock, it seems you have to have ALL of the listed items for each altar. Also, for the Lust altar, getting naked doesn't work, though Moroes' Famous Polish does. And, it doesn't look like you need the Void Totem for the Void Altar. I completely missed seeing it, and it worked anyway. Just used the Shadowy Disguise.

If anyone else is getting frustrated with the RATS part, try this, worked for me:

1) When entering catacombs, kill every rat.
2) Make a macro '/tar rat'

i struggled with this one - it is
NUMBER of statues on specific spots

so if we find 8 rats (kill them) you will take two statues on spot 1 (it changes color depending how many statues are on it) after yo uare done, you click sumbit (if you did it right, it will say something and shows thingie above your head, and you continue - you will look on lock 2 - find for example three rats and you will one statue on spot 6 (dont forget to take rest of statues from last spot)

For 7 o'clock, you may need to stand at the owl statues after clicking them for a loooong time before you get the buff for your Fledgling Warden Owl.

Be aware that the stupid bird will dismiss itself with no warning, but if you notice quickly enough, you can still summon it back in time to get the buff, even if you've already clicked on the owl statue.

If you do pet battles, you might have some Magical Pet Biscuits, which will double the size of your bird, to make it easier to see.

Having a heck of a time with the rats and pressure plates. Pressure Plate 3 is behind a locked door, which I don't seem to have a key for, though I've done everything leading up to this step. I don't even get a gear or anything when I hover over the door. How do you open that door?

Also, how can you tell which lock you're on? Is there a way to start over from scratch? I thought I had the first lock, though it didn't say exactly "You hear a mechanism unlock", but something similar. So, now I have no clue what lock I'm on.

looking at part 6-altars, i am trying to find out what alternate backs will work.

For Corrupt there are 6 on that wowhead page. i have 30+ versions of cloak of infinite potential (if that will work) and i assume the cloak changed as you added threads to it? i didn't pay attention. will any or all of them work?

For Void it shows 53 cloaks supposedly with the same appearance but they all have different colors and the design at the top is different on the "original? will any of them work?

Of those 53 i was surprised that i only have 9, and only because searches kept defaulting to a cloak that didn't have anything showing as an alternate. There were lots from that wowhead page that didn't show up at all (either collected or uncollected) in appearance searches. i have 707/1533 cloaks too

For the 8 O'clock orb, if you are a demo lock, switch to aff or destro. I found that my passive spawning imps were triggering the pads and the pads wouldn't turn off so I had to start again.

I spent about four hours running around trying to solve the 8 o'clock orb.

There are some things to note:
If you get one wrong, you reset to the first lock.
This part of the challenge is infinitely easier when using a /tar rat macro, and the WeakAura for it. I kept trying to do without them, and I wasted 3.5 hours out of 4 doing this.
You don't need to click Begin more than once.
To get to Plate #3, you use the crystal received from the last step. Target the crystal on the inside and use it.
To get out of the Plate #3 room. run up to the door and select the green crystal above the door and use the same thing you used to get in. You may need to dance around a bit or /tar the crystal to get it to lock on.

Simply make a macro, load the WeakAura, kill absolutely everything you see. The WeakAura will correctly count the rats - even if you kill multiples at once, it knows the puzzle rats from the Catacombs rats. Just go to all the nooks and crannies to use the macro, kill all the rats. Once done, put the statues in the place the WA tells you to, and you'll be done in 30 minutes.

I'm not getting credit for the 8 O'Clock part of this quest. When killing the rats and hitting submit on the machine, it's only telling me that something was unlocked on the first, and 6th time I hit submit, I have followed this guide and several others down to a T, and it's not working, I'm wasting hours of my life in to this puzzle, to not get credit, I would really like to know what's going on and why it's not working.

After 8 O'clock is complete, when we get to "Ratt's Journal: The Final Chapter?" there is a line "As paladins or rogues or mages" I think I found out who they are. In 20th anniversary event area there is Team Solid - Ellanoir (mage), Duryllin (paladin), Juddson (rogue). If you have idol activated they glow orange and change between who glows. Duryllin says "What a great party! I've already had six o'Leeroy's chickens meself." (6) - Is this a hint or stuff I have missed before?

When tyring to find the Hastily Scribbled note, perhaps it would be best to state that the coordinates are while inside the City of Threads and not in the zone Azj-Kahet. setting a waypoint inside the zone puts you far north, while the note is on a ledge inside the City of Threads

Currently stuck on 6 o' clock...missing both toys for the Void altar and for some reason the Sin altar refuses to complete, as well. *sigh* I was actually enjoying the questline so far, but this is annoying and,really, both Void altar-relevant toys are a pest to get. :/

Does anyone know whether the pet dungeon one is a 100% drop? I know the other one probably is, but there's no telling when the relevant quest will pop up in the Garrison and I'd love to get out of ZG sometime before Christmas, lol.

Warning: Don't do torch 8 as Demonology Warlock. Wild Imps will run over the pressure plates and even when the imp walks off the plate still registers a "statue" on it with no way to turn it off.

The Lust altar refuses to work despite having everything and not every mount or pet combo works for the blood altar. I used blood boil pet and nazjatar blood serpent mount before it worked.

7 O'Clock - Watchers

This one is written a bit poorly as it has had many people, including myself, running in circles thinking the only way to "receive" the buff for your owl is but seeing the color appear.

This is not true, as you need to stand there as it's spewing out the colored mist, or encircling you in the green ring, and right click the statue repeatedly until your Fledgling Warden Owl starts circling and a Magnifying Glass appears over your head. Seriously you might sit there for up to a minute before the owl starts circling, just keep right clicking the color-spewing statue.

For whatever reason the key of shadows takes a minute to appear in your inventory, and the love buff you get from the first part might be a limiting factor. I can confirm that dong the /pray at the obelisk and standing still for ~5 minutes, I set a timer but stepped away before I could see how long it took me to actually get the key, I even got two keys somehow.

I was able to complete 8 ' clock after doing the puzzle 4 times instead of the 7 required. Has anyone else had this happen? "A great lock has been released" popped up and the machine was inert as well as the vault accessible. Maybe the puzzle was shortened?

As of 12/3/2024, for 8'Oclock, I have completed 3 submissions and got the "A great lock has been released."
I don't know if I did anything different from everyone else but here is what I've noticed and my hypothesis:

-It's getting down to the nitty-gritty so Blizzard is lightening the load for some of the requirements

-I used statues that were closest to the corresponding pressure plates, i.e., for Plate 2 I used the Greed Statue and the Guardian Statue. May not make a difference but here we are.

8 O'Clock - Rats

If you're getting zapped, make sure to remove all previous statues from the plates. Otherwise, the game will consider those previous submissions as part of the next step, as it does not remove the statues after each submission.

For * o'clock its actually incorrect, you don't have to do it 7 successful consecutive times, you just have to do it 7 times total for the vault to unlock for you. So if you mess up one time, don't fret as it doesn't mean you have to redo however many attempts you were upto again. It does matter though with the table in that it does reset in terms of the table from square one, but beyond that it doesn't.

I just tried to do the 6 o'clock Alters with a friend who had the Venthyr covenant objects needed for sin (sinheart pet and backpiece) while I had the toy. It would not work however, I assume because he wasn't on the same step of the puzzle as me (he had a torch toy but it was not showing the alter spirit). So...NO not anyone can come help you, just have to be lucky with whos around or grind some shadowlands content again. *sob*

I completed 4 O'Clock - Doom today as a hunter. I didnt need a warlock or scroll. Two Doomguards were outside (maybe left behind by someone). Aggro them and bring them into the room and the signs will be visible.

For the Lust Altar on Step 6, I absolutely could NOT get the Steamy Romance Novel to be accepted. Then I targeted the Succubus/Incubus and used it again, and THAT worked. I think if anyone is having issues with the altar items not being counted, it might be worth making sure the NPC is targeted. I've only noticed I needed to do it for this altar specifically, but that doesn't mean it's not worth a shot if you're running into other items/pets/mounts not being counted.

It's ridiculous that Blizz requires us to spend 25k on a one time use item for this. And it's so easy to mess up. I went inside the temple instead of on top. After putting the costume on the pug. So I flew up top where the obelisk is. The costume was no longer on the pug. Luckily I was able to get it by waiting for someone else to do it.

To clarify 8 O'clock - Rats (I struggled with the instructions)

When you click 'SUBMIT' on the Enigma Machine a number of rats will spawn throughout the catacombs. Count the number of rats (use the macro, it really helps).

In the table with '# of rats', 'Lock #1', 'Lock #2', and 'Lock #3', the 'Lock' numbers refer to you having the complete the rat counting & statue placing a total of 3 times - so 'lock #1' is the first round of rat counting and statue placing, 'lock #2' is round 2, and 'lock #3' is round 3.

The main body of the table with '1 on 1', '3 on 4' etc. refers to the number of statues needed to be placed on the pressure plate of that number. For example, '1 on 1' means 1 statue placed on pressure plate #1, '2 on 3' means 2 statues placed on pressure plate #3.

When you have the statues in place and hit 'SUBMIT' on the machine again, whether you are correct (magnifying glass above your head, and 'You hear a mechanism unlock' text appearing in the chat box), or incorrect (being zapped), a NEW set of rats will spawn.

Count the number of rats AGAIN and refer to the table for statue placement. You need to successfully arrange the statues 3 times in a row, each time counting the rats after hitting 'SUBMIT'.

Hope this helps clarify for anyone that was confused by the instructions as I was!

For step 6, the Lust altar, we tried using the Novel toy, unequipping everything, and having the Sister of Temptation pet out. Nothing worked. What DID work, was equipping all your armor, and transmogging everything aside from weapons to be hidden. Best of luck to all!

I'm trying to do the 2 o'clock pedestal and, IDK the veracity of this but, I was at the obelisk and an Alliance gnome with the gift on was here at the same time. I summoned my perky pug and prayed. Nothing happened. So I tried again. Nothing. I went down to Zidormi and changed the timeline, went back (gnome was gone) and prayed again. Nothing. Went and changed the timeline BACK again, went back to the obelisk (gnome was back) summoned my pug, used the Yipp Saron costume and prayed. Nothing.

So if you're Horde and the person that's around is Alliance, do you not get the key?

For 7 o'clock, you can do the statues outside of the dungeon together (buffs attained will be random). BUT for clearing Vault, you will need to do it either solo, or just run it once, run back out, reset instance and pass lead, and clear again, for the next person to be able to obtain the Sentry Statue.

Folks, don't be like me. Don't just go down in the cave for 9, and because you can't tell where the humming crystal is, you /tar it, and it works to find it, so you just keep using your teleport toy, and nothing happens, except you get transported to the bottom of the glowing symbol on the ground of Ratt's cave. All right, that is NOT a ledge, but I can see people up there. What is going on? Then someone else mentions they have the same issue, and solved it by putting on their Starry Eyed Goggles. DOH! LESSON? DO NOT FORGET TO EQUIP THE GOGGLES. You'll not only see the crystal, you'll be teleported to the ledge appropriately and able to finish out number 9. Don't be me.

One step missed for orb 9 is to use your Starrey-Eyed Goggles and look up to see the platform with the Humming Crystal above it.

For the 9th orb (when you're supposed to target the humming crystal and teleport to a platform) - remember to put on the Starry-Eyed goggles to see the platform that you're supposed to teleport to. I tried using the crystal without them at first and kept getting teleported back down.

For the 9 o'clock position they left out a step. After you get to the cave you have to put on your Starry-Eyed Goggles. If you do not and follow the instructions of just targeting the crystal and using the Relic of Crystal Connections you will keep ending up back on the floor where you started. So to complete it.
Go to the cave. Use your Starry Eyed goggles, Target the humming Crystal, Use your Relic of Crystal Connections. Enter the code.

Something strange happened when I was running my sister through getting her bike. We got to 8'oclock and I had the sinstone pet out from a previous step and apparently he drops little sinstone things and one landed on a pad. It vanished before we noticed and despite being gone, the pad was still lit blue. We were on step 2 which needed pad 4 (which the sinstone was on) and counted as a statue on the pad. We lucked out with number 3 being on the same pad but it is worth noting that the sinstone pet may drop an object on a pad and mess with your enigma machine progress.

I had an issue with the light orb in 7 O'Clock - Watchers
first try i took the orb next to the boss after i killed it. (hero)
every time i walked a bit, the orb vanished.
When i tried to take the orb next to the elevator .. it disappeared again.

2nd time i tried in normal mode, took the orb BEVOR Killing the last boss - and it did not disappear this time.

Dunno why, maybe just a bug for me, but if someone else has this issue... first get the orb, then kill last boss ^^

UPDATE: I figured it out! I had been using the Starry-Eyed Goggles before I jumped into the cave. You have to wait until you are in the cave and then use them. When I did it that way I could see the platform, target the crystal, and port to it.

I have gotten all the way to 9 o'clock, and now I am stuck. I have gone to the cave in Pillar-Nest Vosh. I have equipped my Starry-Eyed Goggles. I can target the Humming Crystal when I am standing at the opening one jumps down to get to where Ratt dropped the Peculiar Gem. I can't port to it from there, however - it's too far away. If I jump down, I can't target it at all. What am I doing wrong? Is there a different cave? Somewhere particular I'm supposed to stand? (I have paced the entire circumference of the hidden cave, spamming my target macro for the humming crystal.) I can't seem to find a video or anything that might give me some insight.

Great work on unlocking everything and thank you to everybody involved. I'm trying to complete the Altars step. I'm at the part that requires the Blood toy which is tied to a quest chain. I've done what's required to get the Lion's Rest flight path unlocked which is where the apparent quest giver is, but I can't seem to either find the right chain or get the quest to trigger. I'm trying to use the links on the site and check achievements. Has anyone else overcome this?

Anyone else have the issue while doing 3 O'Clock where you looted the chest but then it became unlootable as you were looting and didn't give you the Piece of Hate, and now you can't input the code again to activate it? Happened to me on Room 430 machine.

Biggest problem at the Golden Muffin step is the friggin ghost in the way. The only way to get by it is for someone else to get got. I'd toss that under "inconvenience as fake difficulty".

for the 2 o'clock puzzle. I can confirm you can also get the key as a reward if you are in a group and one of the people is not in the bfa version. The one in the bfa version has to have all the requirements and then /pray but my friend did not play bfa on that char and couldn't switch the zone to present time (zidormi is not present) and still got the key

I am having so much trouble with this achievement. I have progressed completely up to the 9 o'clock step. I have double and triple and quadruple checked that I have all the orbs on the pillars up to 9 o'clock lit up, and that everything has been completed. I have used macros to check that the tasks for all the previous o'clocks have been marked as completed aka 'True'. But for the life of me, my character cannot use the Relic of Crystal Connections in the hidden cave, while having her Starry Eyed Glasses on, without falling through the platform each and every time.

I have opened several tickets, and submitted a bug report to WoW. I have posted about it on the Secret Finding Discord, and looked for help on the WoW subreddit. I have had other people in game trying to help me, and they have seen my character fall nonstop through the platform as well. I have taken screenshots and video of this happening, and the GM's that have been responding to my tickets say they don't know why it is happening, they can see I have progressed up to the 9 o'clock orb, and they don't know what can be done to remedy this, as no one else is having this happen to them.

So yesterday, I started the quest line with another of my toons on my account, got all the letters and the peculiar key, etc. Went to go complete the 1 o'clock steps and my Torch of Pyrreth is giving me a buff saying I'm wielding it, but it won't connect/arc with the totem, to give me the "Light of my Love" buff. So she can't complete this, and progress through the chain.

I am not sure what to do. I have spent days on trying to complete this, and feel like it is hopeless. Any advice etc would be so greatly appreciated. I don't see how I could possibly be the only person who is having issues with completing this achievement.

Stuck on 8 O'clock - Rats

It says you have to do the pressure plates in order with the statues, however # 3 is in a room off to the side that has a gate over it and is inaccessible. How do you open this gate to get into the room with the 3rd pressure plate? I tried another pressure plate that was outside, but my progress was zapped because I didn't do them in order 1-2-3 etc.

Someone said to target the humming crystal in the room then use the trinket I got to get into the room, but nothing in the room says humming crystal when I mouse over it.

UPDATE: I got it to work on the crystal inside the room. Had to reload the game out and back in to make it targetable. All good now!

In case anyone is struggling with 6 O'Clock - Altars, this was my experience:

So it seems you can compete 6 O'Clock - Altars whilst in a group, even if you do not have all of the required items youself, just be near the altar when another play is completeing them.

I managed to complete both Altars Lust & Blood with someone in my party. We were missing some items for the rest though.

For the 2 o'clock.
I didn't buy the items and i was alone in front of the obelisk waiting for anyone with the items to come, because i didn't had any of them. I was looking at the toys tab when i misclicked the puzzle of yogg-saron. Nothing happend at first but as soon as i got the whisper the key appeared and i thought i was paranoid so i run the script and it told its true. I looked around and there wasn't anyone and i didn't /pray for sure, i had the obelisk as a target though.
Another guy came and i tried to tell him to do the same but he was speaking in another language. Can someone try it in order to verify if i am not crazy?

8 o'clock description was misleading for me. I read it as you have to put statues on the three pads before clicking SUBMIT (and how can you do that if the row has 7 statues required?). "move the statues to the pressure plates"... "and click SUBMIT". Whereas what you have to do is move the right number of statues to the first pressure plate, click SUBMIT, move the statues off the plate and then repeat the process of counting rats, and move statues on to the plate listed in the second column etc.

AVOID PAYING FOR ANOTHER COSTUME!

If you're like me and were not in the BFA phase of the Vale for the obelisk, and /pray doesn't work, or you've otherwise gone to the wrong location after costuming your pug and need to mount up. Don't despair! You can use Magical Saucer on your pug (provided you have it) and when you mount up with steady flight, he'll follow along behind you on the saucer. I had to change phases, and after talking to Zidormi, I tried this and (very slowly and carefully, just to be safe) flew back up to the obelisk. My pug stayed right behind me on the saucer the whole time, and /praying successfully got me the key.

Took me over an HOUR to clear the Watchers part, the buff wouldn't proc properly on my owl. Now that I have it, my VOtW instance is glitched and I can't reset it; everytime I try to take Elune's Light back to the top, the "trap" activates and takes it off me, and the other lifh statues fade as soon as you go up the elevator. Idk what is going on. (note, iid accidentally die to the elevator boss after getting the light the first time and going to the topit glitched after that point)

2 O'Clock - Pray
Find the Ny'alotha Obelisk in Vale of Eternal Blossoms. The coordinates vary slightly depending on which version of Vale you are in.
Note: The below steps will also work if you are within 10 yards of someone doing them (as long as they are in the BFA phase).

This step ONLY WORKS in the BFA version, otherwise you can spend 25k gold on the outfit and stand there doing /pray to no avail

A note on 2 O'Clock - Pray: from what I can tell, the appearance Gift of N'Zoth mentioned in the guide is not the same as the buff you get during the last part of the Xal'atath BfA quest chain: Gift of N'Zoth.

I hadn't done the Xal'atath quest chain in BfA, so I went to do it. Then when I got Gift of N'Zoth, instead of turning the quest in, I went to the obelisk with Dogg-Saron and nothing would happen. After a few minutes, someone else showed up who had Twitching Eyeball, he /pray'ed, and immediately we both got the Key of Shadows.

5 o'clock step 5: I didn't need to go to kara crypts to reenter the spirit realm. Talking to the ghost again worked just fine. I did have to occasionally drop group/leave groupfinder to get the dialogue to pop up.

for anyone wondering if you do 7 o'clock - watchers in a group (i did it with two of my friends) only the person with the light can interact with the box containing the sentry statue and do the puzzle in Glazer's room, BUT once it was done everyone could loot the chest containing the warden's mirror! :D

I have a problem with the 3 O'clock puzzle: even before the slot machines, me and my friend did the other 8 consoles together, he has 8 Pieces of Hate and I only have 7! I used the macro from the guide but it says that all 8 are collected, but I have 7 in the inventory. I can't see any of those consoles or the chests anymore, I'm wearing the goggles. Help!

SOLUTION: My bad, just had to check the mail. I guess I didn't fully loot one of them and I got a letter from Postmaster. Hope this helps if someone has the same issue.

Was doing the O'Clock-3 Hate while trying to type in the codes I kept getting error and noticed the numbers were doubling while I was typing them, but not while I was clicking the action bar. Was thinking it was my keyboard at first and was worried, but then remembered I had "Press and Hold Casting" turned on which messes with the selfie camera toy buttons. Turned it off and was able to type in the codes. Hope this helps anyone confused if the codes were broken.

If you forget where that is it Options>Combat> scroll to the bottom and uncheck it.

Playing a new character that hasn't unlocked BFA parts will be rough. I've noted that you can start the chain after the detective title is obtained on alts, thankfully. If you're too determined and want to endure the unlocks, here's how I went about it.

If you're stuck on the part where you need to phase to BFA Vale and are stuck in the MoP version, you'll need to unlock the BFA intro, then Nazjatar (do the part with Cyrus, then Genn on the ship in Boralus, Nazjatar intro until you're summoned by Magni) How to get to Nazjatar. Magni didn't offer me the Essential Empowerment quest until I relogged. Have your guild cloaks handy to teleport around.

After you finish the quest to obtain the crucible of flame, check with Cyrus again in Boralus. You'll find an envelope on his table to start the next bit you need with the chamber of the heart and Wrathion's intro. I'm not sure which part it ended at after that, but I unlocked BFA Vale and saw I had done so in the search for Wrathion at the tavern of mists. Hope this helps someone.

My only real question is- what's the deal with the Arcane Device? And how are you supposed to disengage from it save from it? Once activated, It just makes you play Bejeweled, but there is no disengage feature, so i assume you're aiming to complete a task in it.

I saw someone today with this mount. I'm a collector myself with about 590 mounts and I want to get this but, is it true it's only available to get up until january 5 (or whenever the 20th anniversary ends...?) because if that's the case, I don't think I'll even bother. So many steps, so many hours and I'm not sure I'll have time enough to complete it, don't want to waste Christmas holidays trying and failing lol.

At the Lucky Slots part, we found that the amount of lucky things you have will be the number of sevens that you need to type in. We had the duck-hat, the shirt, and 4 other things, typed six 7-s, and got the last coin. Could be a coincidence though.

Hi, random first time poster here. *I believe* that the romantic picnic basket works in lieu of the romance novel kit, for the Succubus altar.

Not sure if it just so happens that someone nearby got it right when i did this, but it seemed as if /sit while in the picnic (with the buff) and targetting the npc, you get credit for the toy

Also not sure if this is already discovered and posted elsewhere. Worth trying if you are desperate and don't have the novel kit

Managed to do it thanks to this guide - went and got 2 pets and the lucky items, thats about it.

Took about 4 hours total with the pets farmed. Wonderful guide well done.

Notes on problems:

1. The ALTAR part did not work properly on the LUST altar. Multiple players meeting all criteria confirmed they didn't get it. Specifically the "being fully naked" part didnt work. But someone dropped by with Moroes toy and it did, so if you dont have it, you gotta wait.

2. It was hard-ish with the warden owl, you gotta stay at the statues for 10 seconds and spam click to get the bird to do the emote, even after the statue turns on. The puzzle inside using a generator for and it took a minute and 1 error but i got it.

3. The RATS part was awful. Remember to read the columns of the table CAREFULLY for that one.

I have 800 mounts, 780 pets and 500 toys & this challenge took me about 100k and roughly 8 hours. Expect to get stuck at some points if you didnt play legion, shadowlands, BFA and dranor at all. There were a few key pets and toys that I didnt have because i never did the pet battle dungeon challenges and i never did the draenor tavern. the Void Totem quest wasn't up at my garrison tavern, so i had to do all 5 pet battle challenge modes for the Shadowy Disguise. Was cancer and took me >4 hours to organize all my battle pets to do those challenges! ALL YOU NEED is the Detective title before anniversary ends. You will likely be able to get the detective title again next year so you can complete the chain.

7 O'CLOCK WATCHERS PUZZLE (We had a lot of trouble with this one. The website on wowhead guide DOES NOT CURRENTLY WORK)
We really struggled with this puzzle so I wanted to help clarify for those who are running around. For the first step when you are doing the Owl Watcher's Statues. Only 3 are active at any given time out of 9. If it is not active you get a message that says "You Can't Do That Yet" and you just move onto the next point. The Owl pet does despawn so every time you find one active just pull up your pet screen and make sure it's there. You receive a magnifying glass over your head when it is complete. You will know you have all 3 when a tiny white orb appears over your Owl pets head.

Then you will head on over to Vault of the Wardens. Complete the dungeon and kill final boss. Resummon your Owl pet and and the light orb will be on the ground somewhere. Collect it. Head all the way back to the room right before the first boss. There will be a color orbs and a tiny Sentry Statue. Collect it.

Head to Glazer and on the platform before dropping down you will place your Sentry statue. It should then boop you off and a larger sentry will replace it. (If it just sets down place it someone else and eventually it's "click" into the right place.) When you speak to it you will start your puzzle. I HIGHLY recommend the Statuesolver Add-on on curse forge. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-XZXU69E54) This video at approximately 10:42 will explain how to properly use it. You start by plugging in your current board. When you right click on 1 it will pop up a secondary board. 1 will be yellow denoting this was the statue you clicked and it has now changed. You then compare the original board with what you currently have. On the control board that popped up with the yellow you will now ONLY click squares that changed. It does not matter if a statue appeared or was removed if it change you mark it. You then click on your original board all of the changes on your control board. When you have done this the Statue Solver should be a match to your board. If they match hit confirm on the control board. When you hover over 1 on your Statue solver it will now show what changes it will make. You will now right click another active statue on your board which pulls up another control. You repeat this until you have created a control for every single space (25). If you need to create a control that is not currently active you can move on to the next until it becomes active again. You may need to click a square you already have a control for to bring up one you are missing. You can double check your numbers during this. Once you have controls for all 25 squares you hit solve. It will post a text chat. If you have made an error it may tell you which squares are causing issues. You do not need to reset. Just click and confirm until you get to the ones it says are having issues. You can fix them and then recheck for a solution. I had issues with 11 and 23. when I clicked them had to click 25 to bring one of them up and it was actually that (FOR ME ONLY) 25 I had not put it that 23 pops up and then the solution corrected itself.

have you thought about that each orb represents an expansion of the game?
the prologue represents vanila and each orb representd an expansions.
think about it - we have comleated 9 expansions and ,at the time of this content being relesed, we are in the second patch of the 10th expension hance there are 9 major orbs done and 2 small orbs around the 10th.
in addition we know about the 2 upcomming expensions - orbs 11 and 12.

I belive rattas story will continue in future anniversaries in the future years.

Just some notes that may be useful to others.

For 3 O'Clock - Hate, after entering the sequence code into the Decryption Console, make sure you click on the console to submit that code. I was entering the code and waiting for the container to unlock.

For 7 O'Clock - Watchers, you can simply fly around and look for active statues with the color you still need, then land and collect it. Just wait for your Fledgling Warden Owl to do the spinny spin and move on to the next. I didn't have to interact with the statues at all — I gave up after getting the error text for two straight cycles.

For the Lucky items, I had just the Lucky Duck and managed to get the key in about 10 casts on one character and my partner got in on her first cast with just the duck.

Furthermore, for my partner she had the Lucky Shirt in the bank and made no progress with 5 items (no Lucky Horseshoe), as soon as she took it out the bank the slots worked first try with 777.

For 5 O'Clock - Muffin, it should be noted that each individual player has to battle Jeremy themselves (aka, they must have their own pets and have them leveled). I completed the pet battles with my group member standing next to me and he did not receive the subsequent quest. Most of the secret pets are not tradeable, but Wicker Pup, Taptaf, Snowclaw Club, and Sun Darter Hatchling can be caged.

If you have all of the pets and your partner doesn't, or vice versa, this strat uses Snowclaw Club, Wicker Pup, and Taptaf (all 25 rare). Just trade them your leveled pets and they can complete the battle. There is some RNG so it might fail but it does work — my partner got it first try. This method was the easiest/fastest thing for him to do that didn't require acquiring and leveling any of the uncageable pets.

If you're doing 9 o'clock and you do not see the platform in the cave even with the Starry Eyed Goggles on, try logging out and back in. I had an issue where the platform (and everything on it) was continuously phasing in and out of existence, making it impossible to access. Relogging fixed it.

I cannot get the Rats one to work :'(

I counted 8 rats first time so I followed the instructions in the table and got the unlock emote. Then every single time after that, regardless of the number of rats, the column for lock 2 is not f***ing working :( :( I put the right number of statues on the right plate as per that table and get zapped every single bloody time :( :(

So, as many people pointed out, you need to remove the statues from the plate but you need to make sure you do that BEFORE you start killing rats again.

That's where I was going wrong. I was killing rats, then going to move the statues around.

As soon as you hit "submit" you need to go move the statues off the last plate before killing any new rats or it will zap you even if you've got the statues in the right place

I made this harder than it needed to be. I didn't realize I had to kill and count the rats between each submission. Also, DO NOT hit "Submit" after hitting "Begin" (at least in my case). If you get zapped with lightning, something is wrong and you need to restart. Make sure you move the statues off the pad before submitting the next entry.

For step 2, I had the toy but not the pug suit, someone else was there that had already done it (pug summoned). I targeted the obelisk, typed /pray and it didn't work but i put on the toy: Twitching Eyeball and typed /pray and it worked

For anyone working on step 8, counting rats and pulling statues onto pressure plates; a warlock pet commanded to stand on the plate will give credit. I cannot confirm if this will work with hunter pets, but I'd imagine it does. This can be a time saver for the friendless lazy people like me. 🙂

7 o´clock - warden glazer puzzle - there is a bug, if you start with puzzle and didnt finish it, next time you ale trapped at Cordana room, every next entering into dungeon you are at Cordana place. Solution is ID other person. I make puzzle for husband, his charr stays trapped, but if we go again with my ID, it work properly and he can loot the sentry statue again and finish the puzzles. Hope it helps anyone.

This is overall a great guide, but I have 2 suggestions for the future:
- I really wish each step of the puzzle was its own page with separate comments. It's really hard to find appropriate comments for the step you are on, and this guide misses some details. I've found some really helpful user comments on random item pages.
- I found what I consider many crucial details only in the "click here for more details on this step" sections. The short version numbered steps are somewhat helpful, but also misleading at times. I guess just make sure they are up to date, or really point out you should read the full details. A small non-crucial example is for step 7 Warden puzzle the addon isn't mentioned in the quick version.

My 7 O'clock Watcher puzzle tip: I used the first link (watcher-solver website) and I wish I had tried the other site (owlpuzzlesolver) or the addon. The first site worked, but at the end when it got to the solutions steps was pretty confusing as it stopped updating where the current statues were even though it has you click "next". I thought I had messed up and would have to restart but I gave it a shot and it worked.

I believe the Valdrakken secrets quests will remain permanently but I wish the 20th anniversary event area stayed throughout the year, especially the secrets quests:/

Tried to use flight paths in Oribos(for Rats puzzle parts) with my 80lvl alt/char, that i didnt play in Shadowlands. No flight path npc or automated quest for Threads of Faith skips or any related q.
Highlord Darion Mograine in major city thankfully had the quest for me.
High inquisitor Whitemane had the "I have heard this tale before. <Skip the Maw introduction. Oribos awaits.> gossip.

After skip, i got the quest Stranger in an Even Stranger Land to have Guards walk me to Overseer Kah-Delen, that had the Campaing intro skip option.

After skipping i was finally able to see "everything" in Oribos including flight master.

For 8 O`Clock...
Do I need to unlock all the 7 locks as people are saying? How do I do that?
Because I just finished 8 O`Clock by unlocking 3 locks and now I`m going back to 4 O`Clock to start all over and enable more locks...but I`m unable to progress. The game is saying that all steps are already done so I can`t do it anymore.

The guide is a little sparse in some areas, and requires you to click through to an item's page/a youtube video more than once to see what is being talked about - but ultimately, great work! I got my mount from start to finish in one day, and a couple hours the next day fiddling with rats. Be sure to use a weakaura for the rats, submit each time, and remove statues before starting to kill again. Be meticulous, and you can still squeeze this out last second!

For 5 o'clock: Before I go on, FWIW, I've grown to hate Jeremy Feasel and his stupid little @#@^ pets with the nuclear intensity of a thousand Hells....

Now...I feel better.

Just as an FYI, I managed to beat him on my second attempt using Spyragos, Taptaf and Wicker Pup. HOWEVER...the spirit world timer had run out before the conclusion of the battle. So when I won, Feasel disappears and will not give you the quest for the muffin. Going back to Zarhym and re-entering the spirit world does NOT work either. It SUCKS. Because as of me writing this, I have yet to beat him again using the same lineup. Ridiculous!

7 o'clock

I'm stumped and have no idea how to progress. After picking up the light at Cordana, I went back to the secret room with the orbs and picked up the Sentry statue. Went to Glazer's room and placed the statue as suggested in one of the YouTube video's: on the oval platform just beneath the small set of steps that lead into the room.

Nothing happened! No big statue popped up to throw me backwards a bit and then interact with to start the puzzle. Even worse: I lost the Sentry statue and it's also no longer there in the secret room. So I'm stuck and cannot start the puzzle.

Did anybody have a similar experience and figure out a workaround? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated :)

EDIT: I decided to try again today (a day later) and my owl pet still had the buff (the little glowing circle over its head). Killed Cordana again to pick up the Light of Elune and now I was able to go back to the secret room to pick up the Sentry statue. Phew...

To solve the puzzle, I used the link to the watcher-solver website as mentioned in the main article. This was a great help, as it does not punish any mistakes made, but merely says: Oops, you have input only 4 linked statues instead of 5, but you don't have to restart. We will solve this step later.

For the altars:

I'm 99% certain the glowing orbs around the altars indicate when you've got the right item. I think the big one is the mount, the white one is the outfit, and the dark one is the toy.

I'm also 99% certain the look alike transmog for the corrupt altar are no longer valid. I've got it on with the mount and the toy, but the white orb is not disappearing and I'm not getting credit.

Also I discovered that you need to have a tabard and shirt equipped and transmogged off for that method to work on the desire altar.

If you are struggling on 8 o'clock...

My friend and I TOTALLY misread how to place the statues and it seemed like something you can't solo...

Each round you're only putting statues on ONE plate. Not THREE.

For the Lust/Succubus altar, make sure you HAVE a SHIRT but transmogged to HIDDEN, that was the last piece that wasn't working for me

note - 6'Oclock Pillar, Blood Altar
Bloodflank Charger Mount did NOT work for me. It was the only "blood" named mount I had at the time.
Thankfully I was close enough to completing Glory of the Icecrown Raider that I was able to get the Bloodbathed Frostbrood Vanquisher mount from 10 Man Icecrown heroic fairly quickly. That Vanquisher mount combined with Corrupted Blood Pet and the required Throbbing Blood Orb Toy worked to activate the Blood Altar.

Lust/ Incubus/Succubus Altar tip - Moroes Polish is NOT required.

Being "Naked" required me to be wearing a tabard, and then having the tabard set to invisible via transmog change. You apparently HAVE to have something in the tabard slot, and it has to be transmogged to invisible. I've also seen in some cases where you have to have your weapon enchant set to off as well. Hope this helps!

For the three "Lucky" items that are only available on an Alliance vendor, you CAN send them to a Horde toon in your Warband via the in-game mail.

"Any pet with blood in its name" - nope, absolutely not. I have 7 pets with blood in the name and none of them work. Could someone please tell me which pet works, because I will absolutely not farm every single pet with blood in their name. I would really, really appreciate the help.

I had some trouble with the slot machines for 3 O'Clock - Hate. I'm posting what worked for me in case it helps anyone else stuck like I was.

When I first tried this, I would input "77777" (five sevens), and the magnifying glass would come up and the chime would sound. However, the slot machines would remain, and no Piece of Hate would appear in my inventory. I got this with four "lucky" items in my inventory, and the Lucky Duck buff.
Side note: at first I thought it was a bug, or a red herring, but I'm wondering now if it's a hint towards "lucky" items--5 letters in the word "lucky" corresponding to the five 7s? It doesn't seem to correlate with the number of lucky items I had, because the same thing would happen when I had fewer lucky items; five 7s worked, nothing else did.

Anyway, what fixed it was getting two more lucky items. Once I went to Griftah and bought Lucky Tortollan Charm and Lucky Dragon's Claw with Lucky Duck still active, I got orange emote text saying that I felt exceptionally lucky. Then I went back to Ratt's instance, input "777" in a slot machine, and got my Piece of Hate!
My theory is that you need seven lucky items total to get the "exceptionally lucky" status, after which 777 is the correct input.

Here were the seven Lucky items I had (as a Horde toon):

Lucky Tortollan Charm
Lucky Dragon's Claw
Old Lucky Coin
Lucky Rat's Tooth
Lucky Charm
Lucky-Streak Pendant
Lucky Duck

6 o'clock Corruption altar issues...
Per the guide I tried the cloak mogs (didn't have the actual overwhelming cloak) and nothing worked, no emote.
Went and farmed the actual cloak form the pandarian raid and that worked first try, not sure why it's different now but the alternate mogs did not work for me.
just fyi, I targeted the spirit while using the accursed tome toy (only because that was required for the Lust altar to work with the toy)

When i was doing 8 O'Clock in the catacombs a had to unlock only 3 locks and then Great lock unlocked for me. Tried to run macro if its completed and it was.

If I have a friend that has fully completed this, can I still use his Perky Pug (with costume, and I equip twitching eye) to complete it? Does the friend/nearby player it says in the guide mean that they must be on the same step?

Hi All,

Anyone else NOT seeing the instance portal any longer? I just finished 'Altars' - last quest I did back in May (post anniversary) and it was fine. I have the Torch of Pyrreth enabled, I go back to the Catacombs and the instance is just gone / gate closed. Anyone see this and if so is there a solution? I opened a ticket with Blizz but their support is horrible these days. Any advice is appreciated - thank you!

Potential theory for #3, so five lucky items is what i fished the key out with but one of them was the lucky duck which wore off. When i went to the lucky slot machine i got the mag glass with five 7s but couldnt get the hate piece no matter what i tried. The lucky duck respawn time started again, and I reequipped. I did five 7s at one of the slot machines, got the mag glass, then clicked the slot machine right next to it and only did three 7s and finally got the piece of hate. First attempt after reequipping the lucky duck. So, i think the number of 7s for the mag glass matches the number of lucky items you fished the key out with and then, after u get the mag glass, you click a different slot machine with all those lucky items equipped/in inventory and do a different number of 7s. Someone can let me know what they think because this couldve just been a wild fluke.

Cloaks with the same appearance as the needed cloaks don't seem to work for the altars
I looted the cloak of overwhelming corruption on an alt, but in the appearance collection it's listed as Red Sky Cloudcloak, eventhough in my alt's bag it clearly says cloak of overwhelming corruption

Either way, I thought I'd be fine as it's the same appearance as the needed cloak and the guide says they're usable, however the altar doesn't trigger the NPC emote and doesn't show as completed when I run the script, leading me to believe same appearance cloaks aren't viable to use

i tried for hours using the steamy romance novel kit , but no luck the NPC doesn't seems to register the book.

I manage to pass the altar by going to tazavesh and buy all "steamy romance"from this NPC Zo'phar#sells

I know im late to the party but i took a break from wow.
Anyways, im back and on the Alters part of the secret chain - all the alters are completed, but the blood alter is not accepting any of my "blood" mounts and i have bloodhunter fel bat, bloodthirsty dreadwing, expedition bloodswarmer, lurid bloodtusk. i used bloodboil pet, throbbing blood orb and lit the torch all the orbs disappear and the magnifying glass shows credit, but the big white orb remains (the mount orb) i tried bringing a friend with the shop armored blood bat and the torch, but in a group and not in a group i still didnt get credit... so my question is does a friend have to have the quest as well? be on the same step as me? can my friend have already completed the quest, and still help? what blood mount will work solo, i cant buy the shop mount its not in the shop currently or i would :(
please help im stuck and i cant progress

Commenting on Part 4 : Doom ... i had no idea what the scroll would actually do from the flavour text and nothing was around me, so it killed me and summoned a doomguard. i ran back to my body and pulled him into the room and was able to view the secret graffiti and get out of there .

for 9'oclock on if you have problem with the platform phasing in and out and couldnt target the crystal, unbuff your starry eye goggles use macro
/tar Humming Crystal
/cast Relic of Crystal Connections
then use your Starry eye goggles right after finish casting, should land you up the platform.

There were too many comments for me to search, but in case no one posted this about the Jeremy Feasel fight in Timeless Isles (for the 5:00 - Muffin part): If (like me) your spirit buff ran out during the pet battle and Feasel disappeared when the fight was done, you do NOT have to re-do the fight; just head back to the Ghastly brazier in Ratt's Cave and reset Zarhym, head back to Timeless Isles and talk to Zarhym again (I had to relog to make the reset work). Jeremy will have the quest waiting for you.

Just wanted to chime in and say Thank You for this guide, and the bike is completely obtainable in the 21st Anniversary. Only time-limited factor is obtaining the Detective title from the Anniversary quests.

Also, for 2 o'clock, the quested version (i.e. from Twist the Knife) of Eye of N'Zoth does not seem to count as credit for the obelisk. Wasted 2 Yipp-Saron items, then cleansed it and used the toy (and another costume) and got it immediately.

With the Patch 12.0 and 6 'o Clock with the altar back transmog is everything bugged and broken.
I only coul complete the blood altar, anyone else?

Be surprised if anyone sees this comment and saves themselves the trouble - but the altar part of the questline seems to be broken after the Midnight pre-patch updates to transmog - criteria isn't being granted.
Blood one is still doable - but the other 4 won't give credit even with the correct transmog.

I've had the Gift of N'zoth permanently on since BFA yet for some reason it didn't trigger the Ny'alotha Obelisk and give me the Key of Shadows. I had to use my Twitching Eyeball toy to get it to work. Not sure if bug related to transmog issues or what.

This is currently unobtainable if you did not get the Detective title before the Midnight prepatch. The crates are no longer spawning making getting the title impossible, making starting this impossible.
