Worth noting for Hunters, while Spellbombed you will take Damage if you use your Special shots on Anzu, though I don't believe auto shots will trigger the knockdown.
* New for 2.1.2 *
o Heroic Mode: Anzu, the Raven God may no longer be pulled far away from the location where he is summoned.
o Heroic Mode: Anzu's Spell Bomb is now a curse and he will no longer charge.
o Heroic Mode: The quantity and health of Minions of Anzu that spawn have been reduced.
o Heroic Mode: The frequency and duration of many of his abilities have been retuned to make the fight more forgiving.
Anzu will use his skills during the banish phase in patch 2.2
beware of the spellbomb during the banish phase,it can easily kill you AEer
Curious that the highest drop rate rare item is paladin loot, and the druid loot is second to last in regular drops.
2 mages and a resto druid make this fight a joke. 3 decurses means spell bomb is not an issue. Plenty of AoE. Just make sure the tank is toped off during the stun.
posted here macros really help,
not a hard boss if you have a druid healer.
did it today (26.12) with fury war/prot war/rogue/lock/me(resto drood)
just heal all, use macros, insygnia when u get stunned and its critical. same with the mana bomb. just wait and do some rejuv + swiftmend when it get's ugly.
did it with pug group of tottal retards and tank with green shit.
I wrote another macro for targeting and HoTing spirits
With this you can have only one macro instead of 3 for each spirit, with click of mouse 1 button, you'll HoT Hawk spirit, with mouse 2 (note that mouse 2 is right button, not midle) Falcon, and mouse 3 (midle) will target and HoT Eagle
/target Hawk Spirit
/target Eagle Spirit
/target Falcon Spirit
/cast Rejuvenation(Rank 1)
Remember that you can replace Rejuvenation(Rank 1) with Regrowth(rank1), if you prefer 2sec cast and 21s Hot instead of instant cast with 8s HoT
Macro will after HoTing spirit retarget to your last target. (iIf you are tank, It will HoT spirit without deselecting Anzu)
*Ranks 1 is used to save mana
**Sorry for my english :)
I noticed that in a previous comment that they said the Essence Infused Moonstone was consumed each time. This is no longer the case and so long as after you complete your quest, go back to the quest giver. He will give you a new one that can be reused over and over again.
The possible drop for the mount isent common... the only reason its on the front row is because this boss dosent drop any trash items, the drop rate is 0.8% or 23 out of 2860 if it hasent changed lately - Golgothaa of Anentheron, one lucky gnome who got the mount.
EDIT: this mount looks exacly like Anzu the Raven Lord himself
A fairly "simple" yet quite fun fight. I just down him as a feral tank in moderate gear with a warrior, hunter, and mage dpsing and a priest healing. We wiped once, but only because of bad luck; Anzu cast his Cyclone quite often, but it just so happened to land on the priest EVERY time he did it. Afterwards, we downed him with little difficulty.
This quest is the "tree of life stage" of this quest and is MUCH easier with a druid healing or dpsing rather than tanking. But fortunately, when Anzu banishes, it gives you time to cast some rank 1 Regrowths and Rejuvs on the birds. I suggest going for the eagle first, as the bird spawns will be the most pressing issue at the time, then the other two. Since it's only rank one, you can easily spam them. Right before Anzu unbanishes (when all the birds are dead) top off each bird with a fresh regrowth (it lasts the longest) and quickly jump into bear form. It's a simple tank and spank aside for that.
You don't need backup healers or a dedicated healing druid for the stones.
I tank him and when he spawns birds I let the DPS handle it and rejuvenate the statues, that is enough of a help, you don't need the statues up 24/7
Guys consider this...the Eagle statue (click and read)
appears to have two methods of working:
using rejuvenation or regrowth will make the statue attack the boss once every 3 seconds.
using lifebloom appears to make the statue attack once every 1 second.
so my theory is for someone to test regrowthing the hawk and falcon, while keeping lifebloom on the eagle to triple its damage to the boss.
someone please try to confirm this.
What is the 'key' that goes into your keyring after you finish the quest? I don't see it on my keyring...
This boss isnt as hard as you all make him sound. I just ran it yesterday with crap CC. The whole "journey" getting there was rough but the boss fight was a complete cake walk. War tank, feral drood, 2 resto droods, and mage. Yea..was a late night and server reset so no one was on...It went alright, couldve been better with more CC but this boss is way too easy. All you really need to watch out for is the spellbomb and just keep the bird spirits up.
@scyther "What is the 'key' that goes into your keyring after you finish the quest? I don't see it on my keyring..."
You get it after you turn in the quest. Its a follow up after killing Anzu back at Cenarion Refuge.
i just did it today, i was fairly easy.
group: 2 locks, 1 Pala (healer), 1 Shaman (enh), Druid (feral) <-- me
i was walk-in-the-park fight. i managed to activate the birds' statues when Anzu is banished
Here are some helpful macros that will put rejuvenation on the spirits without you even noticing you switched targets :-)
/target Hawk Spirit
/cast Rejuvenation(Rank 1)
/target Eagle Spirit
/cast Rejuvenation(Rank 1)
/target Falcon Spirit
/cast Rejuvenation(Rank 1)
Whenever I clicked a macro, it worked so fast I LITERALLY couldn't tell it switched targets--but it works, just click these all 3 times and voila.
(Also you can switch the rejuvenation rank1 with any other HoT--just make sure it's rank one, and that it'll stay on for at least 10 seconds (you don't need longer than 10 seconds, but it's useless to just sit there and constantly be re-applying the buffs))
The issue with the macros posted above is that your last target may not have been anzu.
You can also switch Anzu with a tanks name--if you're a healer, or etc. etc.
I hope this helped :)
This boss may be getting removed, as Swift Flight Form will be Trainable in patch 3.0.3
As a note: In 3.0.2 it doesn't matter which rank you will use, since every rank costs the same amount of mana.
I hate to ask, but is this boss even still available? Patch 3.2 doesn't give any other Druid Quests to reach new forms (that I am aware of), and if these don't exist anymore, then this boss can't be fought. I want to be sure, because once I hit 70, I want to get the Reins he drops lol. Please, someone answer?
The item reward you get from the druid quest implies that he is a goddess, but Anzu's title on this website implies that he is a god. Is it a boy or a girl?
Anzu, as with most heroic bosses, is now soloable by an 80 heroic geared tank.
Not sure if it's doable by DPS classes or not as he hits around 1400 on a feral tank.
Healers might have a little trouble due to his spell bomb debuff.
I highly recommend people to try this boss.
Bring a druid friend to enjoy the fun if you're not a druid =P
Full naxx 25 feral tank would have above 40% dodge unbuffed...
My gear when I first time did this was maxed heroic gear with few pieces from naxx 10.
Here's what I do:
Prowl through trash to the first boss, here I get out of prowl and run by wall around (ironically you have higher chance to pull the boss while in prowl since he has truesight).
Back to prowl, go upstairs, get into the room with 3 packs of small non-elite birds, 3 other trash packs and one serpent patrol.
Pull first two birds packs, wait for the serpent patrol and kill it.
Kill the last pack in front of two ravenguards.
Kill the ravenguard duo (these mobs are really nasty, make sure you root one before pull, and stun when they enrage).
Pull the pack inside of the Anzu's room on the right and kill it.
Pull/kill the serpent patrol in the middle of the room, kill the packs inside the room one by one.
I maybe clear more packs that is actually needed, however it's pretty safe this way in case you get feared and can't interrupt it.
If you are soloing this and die, you risk the instance reset, which means all the trash respawns
Few things about the sethekk packs:
hibernate those elite birds (swoop is annoying)
root Talon Lords (they are melee and have stun)
kill Prophets first (they cast fear, you'll resist many, but be ready to berserk/trinket it in case you get caught in it)
shift to bear and use enrage just when the boss appears, he'll yell stuff for another 10s after (don't waste it before the boss actually comes :>)
keep FF and demo roar up at all times
keep lacerate up for more maul damage (you are specced for
berzerk in the start, get him down to 66%, shift out and heal up once he banishes
decurse yourself if needed, barkskin in caster form in case you are unlucky and get cought by screech when healing up
demo roar -> swipe+maul the small birds
repeat the same to 33% and then to 0%
If you are in trouble and on low hp (you may get unlucky and get caught by screech in caster form), use
together for better effect.
Done this several times in past weeks, whole run takes roughly 20 minutes this way.
I'm using tanking spec and tanking gear with one on-use ap trinket.
makes the trash clear much faster and safer.
Yes, I'm sure it's possible. While it is easier in level 80 epics, the first time I did it I was still wearing mostly level 70 epics, so you should be fine even in level 80 blues.
As far as strategy, there's not much to it but I'll offer some insights:
Kill one of the other bosses to save yourself to the instance (in case you die, so the trash won't reset). I usually killed the first boss because he was on the way, but the last boss probably makes more sense to kill since he will open up the door from the beginning of the instance to the end. I only died a couple times while farming this, when I got feared into another group while clearing trash and my shadowmeld didn't work to drop combat.
I always cleared the room before summoning. It gives you a lot of room to run around during the fight.
On trash, you can outrange the fear from the prophets, and you can pop berserk to break the fear if you mess up. Everything else is pretty easy. I usually pulled with hibernate on a bird (if there was one) and entangling roots on any of the mobs besides the prophets, which I killed first. You don't need to CC, but it makes clearing the trash easier. Use barkskin on each trash pack; it should be up every time. If you need to pop cooldowns to survive, don't hesitate to; you can always wait a few minutes for them to come up.
Once you summon Anzu, he doesn't aggro immediately. I took this to my advantage and cast regrowth on the eagle (haste) and falcon (fire dmg) statues before the fight started.
Once you engage, keep up a 5-stack of lacerate, FF, and demoralizing roar. Mangle whenever it isn't on cooldown and spam swipe when mangle is on cooldown (but make sure to keep lacerate up). Save your barkskin for when he stuns you, and pop berserk after the first stun wears off (or before the first stun if your rage shoots up fast). Also, make sure you refresh your lacerate stack before he stuns you; the stun has a cast time. If you refresh lacerate before and after the stun, you won't lose the stack.
As soon as he banishes, cast regrowth on yourself (and more HoTs if necessary). Watch out for his curse; try to interrupt your spell and decurse yourself if possible. After casting regrowth on yourself, run away from him and put a HoT on the falcon statue (it does aoe dmg). Make sure you have time to switch to bear before he stuns you again (if this means you can't put a HoT on the statue, so be it). You can set your focus to him to make the stun cast more obvious. Use demoralizing roar on the adds and spam swipe/maul until they're dead. If something goes wrong during this part (i.e., you mess up), the distance you put between yourself and him will let you heal once or twice more.
That's basically it. Keep up your debuffs and rinse and repeat. If the #$%^ hits the fan, pop survival instincts and frenzied regeneration. The first few times I did this, I had a healthstone with me; it doesn't hurt.
A good summary, I also found the following usefull.
After pulling, i would take the boss to the South West corner of the room, behind the stone box.
I found that he enters the first banishing phase on 75% Health, not 66%. I am unsure why that is.
When he banished, i would go to the opposite side of the box, out of Anzu's LoS. Here i can heal without getting the Spell Bomb Curse.
I cast Rejuvenation on the Eagle and entered bear form for the AoE phase. I then moved the mobs to the North West side of the room, behind another stone box. I used this macro to get them down fast. (I had the Maul glyph)
Once down, I could cast a few HoTs on myself before Anzu reached me. As i was out of LoS, Spell Bomb didnt affect me.
I then took Anzu back to the South West Corner and repeated again at 33%.
I got the Mount on my 5th attempt, don't give up!
So can boomkins solo it? Got good gear.
I've been soloing him for a while as a lvl 80 feral druid with tank spec. My gear is a mix between some heroic pieces, quest rewards and crafted things like Polar Boots and so. Unfortunately the mount hasn't drop yet.
I read on another web page that it is also soleable for resto druids so I supose that boomkins can do it too but don't spend the entire battle HoTing the statues because this way you will lose the loot, simply finish Anzu when he is at 5k Hp or so. Good luck!
I tried to see if i got saved by summoning Anzu. I stealthed all the way to anzu and i didn't get saved to the instance before after anzu was dead. So this means u can summon it for a friend then leave and let him solo it. This isn't comfirmed by me yet.
I think i'll wait until duel spec comes out, my guild has me stuck as resto and it's difficult to solo. otherwise i need to team up with a feral druid for this mount.
How to solo as resto
I've done this the past few days as resto, mostly out of boredom. I strongly urge you to pay the 100g to respec feral and do a few dailies after to make up the difference in both time and money. However, if you're stubborn like me, here's how I do it:
ALWAYS kill the first boss, you will probably wipe somewhere on the trash or the boss and it will all reset otherwise. He's easy, just nuke, heal and barkskin+hurricane.
The trash in Anzu's room can be a real pain. I wear the pvp trinket to remove fear. Root the talon lords, sleep the birds, and cyclone the 2nd prophet if there is one. Nuke the prophets first to avoid the fears. You can use the coffin in the corner to kite. They don't have much health but they do a good bit of damage if you don't CC them. I recommend killing all 5 packs + serpent in the middle. The 2 bird packs Anzu summons will social aggro them otherwise.
When you summon Anzu, move to the wall, he won't attack you right away. Now HOT up yourself and the eagle, and engage the boss. You can keep the eagle hotted the whole fight to deal 300 DPS, I use rejuv. Just make sure you do >50% of the damage to him (~125k). alternate between bear and tree, and the goal here is to keep demo roar, lacerate, regrowth/rejuv on self, and rejuv on the eagle up at all times. When you shift to bear stack a couple lifeblooms. You can use frenzied rejuv about every phase. Don't ever let your bear health drop below 60% unless your NS is up. The reason for this is that when you shift back to tree he will almost ALWAYS spell bomb you, which needs to be decursed before you cast a hot. Rehot yourself, you'll probably use innervate around 80% and again at 20%, the mana issue isn't too bad if you're sitting in bear form enough of the fight. Save barkskin for when you're stunned in tree, otherwise try to shift to bear before the screech finishes casting. My damage breakdown usually looks like:
30% hurricane (adds)
If you can keep lacerate up, you don't have to worry about the eagle outdps'ing you. Take your time and be sure to stay above 60% when you shift back to heal. He'll crit you for 6-7k.
Take your time
Solo'ing Anzu as feral dps spec:
It IS possible, but much more difficult, to solo Anzu as a feral dps spec'd druid. Here's how I do it.
1) Bring your tanking gear, and your frost resist gear
2) Stam stack! I'm a pretty well-geared druid, I'm just over 40k hp self-buffed in bear form in my tanking gear + frost resist gear (which has only +24 stam gems)
3) Potions, scrolls, and healthstones help, if you have them!
4) Demoralizing roar is your friend!
I always clear all the trash in Anzu's room, and the first and last bosses of the instance, before attempting the Raven God. It just makes running back that much faster, and they're downright easy. Upon summoning the boss, hang back. He doesn't aggro right away, so put a regrowth on the eagle statue and the falcon statue. Then charge in, mangle/maul/lacerate to get him to 75%, when he first disappears, and don't forget to keep demoralizing roar up. Use your barkskin as soon as he first stuns you, and then every time thereafter that he stuns you and it's not on CD.
Pray you resist the curse. If you don't it gets much harder, as you don't get to heal as much because you waste 2 gcd's decursing (the first being from the heal you stop because you got cursed in the middle of it!) Still doable, however. Throw a rejuvenate on the eagle statue, it speeds up downing the birds tremendously. Then heal yourself. You don't have to get yourself up to 100%, as you should be able to regain a few % from the birds. Kite the birds as far away from the boss as you can and swipe-spam them down. When Anzu comes out of his banished state, he will run around and kill whatever critters are in his aggro range before he comes to you, so you might be able to get off a lifebloom or rejuvenation or something quick.
Proceed to dps the boss down to 33%, when he will banish again. You'll probably be pretty low on hp at that point, I'm usually around 30%. Again, pray you resist the curse. Heal like mad, rejuvenate the eagle, and berserk. Get the birds down fast! Heal up as much as you can once they're down, and prepare for the end. Get the boss down as fast as you can, and pray you hit harder than he does. Good luck!
Some points to consider: The fight takes me about 4 - 4 1/2 minutes. So either I can burn an early frenzied regeneration, and use it again during the 3rd boss phase, or I can use it during the 2nd boss phase. Demoralizing roar helps quite a bit, so use it! I don't always get him on the first try, so be patient with it, and you will succeed!
If you got spare weapon, enchant it with Lifeward and Anzu is easy mode. Do Swipes on Broods of Anzu for multiple Lifeward procs.
Is this boss only summonable that one time during the quest, or after the quest or something, can you resummon him alot? Also, is drop rate still 1% or have they raised it?
I don't know if it a bug or intended, but when I stealth upto Anzu and kill him I don't get saved to the instance. I go out reset and do it again
Ok. For me, I'm fully Naxx 25-geared, Feral DPS specced and geared. I'd try to heal, even out of LOS, and I'd get bombed. No heals get through and I lose mana, of which I have precious little. I died 4 times before even summoning the boss (twice before even making it into the room), 2-3 times on my way BACK to the boss, and probably another half-dozen times on the boss himself. I don't know if it's bugged or not, but I'm trying it again later with a Druid healer. With my heals getting stopped, including Rejuve and Lifebloom, I can't solo him.
Also, he summons his adds and Banishes at 75% for me.
is the boss only accesible in heroic? why does it only say "heroic drops" and no normal drops?
edit: whoops sry for the double post
He's only available on Heroic.
I've been farming him solo for the last 2 weeks...every day.
I'm feral tank specc'ed with full tier 7.5. I run with just my buffs...about 36,500 health, 40% dodge and 28K armor or so.
I don't have any real issues. I've never had to heal myself by popping out of form. I have used frenzied regeneration a few times....but ironically the groups are tougher than the boss. By the time the first banish hits and the adds come I'm around 32K health. Swiping the adds I usually end back up at full health when he comes out of being banished.
I can usually get the run done in just over 20 minutes. I kill all the adds in his room and the 2 standing at the door..and the 1 pack outside.
Keep beserk saved for fear (to break it) as people have said. Barkskin alot and heal between pulls.
It'll drop..eventually :)
This boss is easy to solo as feral so I'll share a trick to solo this as resto/boomkin.
I'm sure Blizz will nerf this but still - maybe someone out there can grab the mount before they do.
1- Stealth all the way into the boss.
2- Use Soothe Animal on the flying mob around the orb. When it pats to the back of the orb, go there and summon the boss and then back up at max range again. (or just kill it if you want).
3- All you gotta do now is trow HoTs on the Eagle Spirit (closest one to your right).
There are like 4 bugs here.
The stone is suposed to do 300 damage to all enemies in the room - but it actually does only to the boss if you don't have anything agrroed.
The damage on the boss do not put you or the boss on combat.
Even out of combat the health/mana regen on the boss is really low - like 500 health every 30sec.
The boss is supossed to summon the adds at 75%, 50% and 25% but since it's not in combat - it doesn't.
However for this to work - you gotta 1 shot it at the end.
If you don't one shot it - then he'll banish himself and summon the adds and agrro pretty much the whole room.
So all you gotta do is keep the Eagle Spirit damaging the boss.
IT WILL TAKE YOU 45 MINUTES TO KILL THE BOSS THIS WAY!
(Just letting you know before you come back complaining it takes fu***** forever - so grab a book).
Once the boss is at like 2k health left - do a starfire + moonfire combo.
You need to perform this one shot at the end to tab the loot table.
The flying snake will agrro - shadowmelt - Smooth it again and loot.
Good Luck =)
How to solo Anzu as a balance druid:
(By a resto druid that has no clue about balance druids)
I dont have any feral gear, and found that hotting the Eagle for 45 minutes was way too boring, so I decided to give it a shot as Moonkin anyway. I used my usual Boomkin PvP spec, so it wasnt optimal for the purpose.
What I did however, was changing two of my major glyphs to Lifebloom and Rejuvnation for some extra healing.
A checklist of what you'll need before you head into Sethekk as Moonkin:
Flask of the Frost Wyrm
(Extra healing and damage, and its not so pricey now that its only 1 hr)
- A few stacks of
3500 extra armor is a ton of mitigation, especially when in caster form
I dont have Moonkin gear either. So I used the only gear I have, resto PvP gear.
My stats buffed with flask, indestructible pot and MotW in Moonkin form:
25 haste rating
236 MP5 while casting
So, now to the actual fight. Start off with stealthing to Ikiss, and kill him before you kill anything else. Killing him will open the shortcut to his room in case you should die, saving you a lot of time. It also gives you space to kite.
Start killing off the packs one by one from his room. If there are birds in the pack, hibernate them. Root another moob and kill the rest. Prophets should be your #1 kill priority, as they fear, but keep in mind that you can outrange their fear. Its has a very short range, if you keep moving you should never be feared. Dotting and running works great, in the empty room of Ikiss you can also use Starfall without any troubles, and a fear wont kill you. Typhoon is great here.
The only hard trash is the Ravenguards by the entrance to Anzu's room. They hit like a truck, you simply cannot tank them. Start off by pulling one with Starfire and root the other. Use your Treants on the Ravenguard that isnt rooted, and move backwards while your treants nuke the Ravenguard, dot him up. Go catform and dash away, or use Nature's Grasp to gain some distance while you finish him off. Just remember to root the second Ravenguard that will come for you, they burst pretty hard and Barkskin wont save you. Typhoon works on them, which can be a lifesaver.
So now you've cleared all the trash and Ikiss, when you know the packs it will take 15 minutes tops.
Before you get in combat use a Indestructible Potion, so you can use a second when the 2 minutes are up. I usually start off with a regrowth on all the bird statues, drinking to full (takes 3 secs), then regrowthing and rejuvnating myself, go Moonkin, pull and pop Treants right off the bat. The reason I do this is so they get off CD to the last 33%, when you really need em.
Anzu should drop to 66% really fast, you shouldnt go out of Moonkin form this first phase, as you wont have lost more than 6-7k HP with prehots at most.
Note that you cannot kite Anzu. He will just reset if you pull him too far from his spawn.
P2: (First wave of birds)
It will take a few seconds before the birds attack you. Use this time to throw up a few hots. Regrowth and Rejuvnation is great here, long hots that will last thru this phase. Be aware that Anzu can still stun you.
Watch out for
. For me, Anzu usually uses it the first time when P2 starts. Instantly cancel your cast and decurse. The birds arent a big threat really. They hit for 200ish in Moonkin, and are easily AoEed down with Starfall and Hurricane, just wait till you have the Owlkin Frenzy proc so you dont waste half your hurricane.
Anzu will rush you once all birds are down. At this point I pop Barkskin, and start hotting up. I usually go Lifebloom - > Regrowth - > Lifebloom - > Rejuvnation - > Lifebloom - > Moonkin.
At this point you are probably OOM, if not earlier. Use Innervate, and you might need to refresh your Indestructible Potion. Getting hit in caster form without it means 4-5k hits, which translates into a quick death. In this phase you have no offensive cooldowns to use.Only your normal damage spells. You might need to heal twice or more, get as many hots as possible on before you go back to Moonkin, you dont want to waste mana, you really need to catch up when your HP is low. I wouldnt fall below 10-12k health before healing, then it starts to get really dangerous if you get unlucky with stuns and Spell Bombs when you pop out to heal.
When you see him casting Paralyzing Screech (5 second cast time), 6 second AoE stun, throw a few hots on, and go back to Moonkin before its finished. If you use
Titan-forged Rune of Audacity
(I did), you can trinket one stun.
P4: (Second wave of birds)
Obviously same as first, but you need to keep enough mana to finish the last 33%. You wont have Starfall here, so wait for Owlkin Frenzy and Hurricane them down. You'll want to keep yourself at near full HP before the birds are dead and Anzu resumes his attacks, so hot yourself
the birds attack you. If you go caster form to heal while you have the birds on you the damage might become a problem, especially if Anzu decides to stun you, and you also risk not getting the birds down before Anzu releases, which means you die.
When Barkskin is up, use it. When Treants are back up, use them. Starfall, use it. Just remember to keep yourself up, and you'll down him. When the Treants are back up he goes down like a rock, just be sure to keep your health pool up. When you pop out to heal, throw up Regrowth, Rejuvnation and 3x Lifebloom. I went OOM here, and had to wait for mana regen to pop my Treants. Luckily I had full hots on me at this time, so he went down with me at around 7k health and 1000 mana left.
It was my first kill so the strat isnt perfect for sure. I had around 11-12 tries before getting him down, but I think the next time it should take 1-3 tries tops, as it doesnt feel very random. Scrolls of Intellect / Spirit / Stamina would also be very helpful, but there wasnt any at a reasonable price available at the AH. Some PvE gear for mana regen would be nice too, but I wouldnt drop below 20k health.
is my armory profile, should show me in the gear that I used as I dont really have much else. My Moonkin spec might be slightly stupid, but I dont have a clue about Moonkins and only use it for fun in BGs / Duels and the odd heroic.
Gonna fraps it also, dont know how interesting it is but it should make the strat more clear than this mess.
Happy farming = )
In before TL;DR, wall of text etc.
Nothing much to add to this... I've soloed this guy around 25 times and still no luck. As a feral druid it is simple. Tank spec gives you Improved LotP, and I enchanted my weapon with Lifeward. As stated, the groups in the room are tougher than Anzu himself. I really hate the packs with two Prophets; if you don't down them quick enough or get lucky and resist their fears, they will gladly chain fear you into other groups, leading quickly to death (or Shadowmeld).
Anyway, a run in and out (killing all bosses because vendoring the items gets you a bit of gold) takes around 20 minutes total. Wish me luck on getting the mount; I saw it TWICE yesterday in Dalaran!
has anyone soloed him as a boomkin?
if so what was your strat?
If you turn in the quest do u lose the ability to summon him?
This can be semi-solo'd by an enhancement shaman.
What you do is:
1. Get a 2nd account and level a druid to 70 (using the RAF buff helps a lot)
2. Make sure your shaman is good geared, Naxx 25 / Ulduar 10-25
3. Enter Sethekk Halls and start to clear a way to Anzu. (Waiting for Spirit Wolfs to be ready for each group is a good idea.)
4. When you get to Anzu's room, clear everything.
5. (Optional) Kill the last boss so you have a short run if you wipe and if you take a break, the trash won't respawn.
Now for the boss itself:
1. When you summon / engage him, have your Spirit Wolfs ready.
2. When the boss is engaged and the Spirit Wolfs are healing you for a good amount of health, swich over to your druid and use the macros posted above to hot the spirit birds.
3. In p2, use Magma Totem and don't kill the last bird before you got enaugh health back.
4. When you re-engage the boss, use Earth Elemental, swich over to your druid and hot up the birds before you go back to the shaman and start nuking.
5. Aoe the birds again with Magma Totem, same as before.
6. Now I use heroism and just nuke the boss for the last 30%.
It's not hard at all, atleast not the boss. The trash can be a pain but it's still doable.
- Good luck!
Farming the mount now for a little over 2 weeks straight. Everyday the same thing: Prowl to boss room, clear trash, summon boss, kill boss, cross fingers, QQ in Gchat while I hearth and log on an alt.
I'm beginning to lose hope. I'm seeing the mount more and more and I'm starting to wonder if this boss just hates me. To top it off, its every class EXCEPT druids who have the damn mount. You'd think that if you pulled your guildies into a run with you they would at least give you dibs on the mount since YOU have to summon it -.-
Well it's a "druid" mount no doubt and anyone who "isn't" a druid can go fly a dragon kite if they were lucky enough to get it >.<
Finally got it after 64 solo runs (not including the 30 or so I did before I started soloing it). HANG IN THERE!
Ive been farming this boss, almost butt naked. Im wearing
Festive Green Dress
. I recently reset my talents for a bit of fun in another instance. They have yet to be set.
Prowl to Darkweave Syth's room. Dont kill anything. Once past the doorway, remove prowl and run around the edges of the room. Enter prowl again at the other doorway.
Prowl the entire way to Anzu's room. Dont kill anything.
Cast soothe animal on Cobalt Serpent. Walk up to Anzu's summoning stone. Summon Anzu. Back away almost to the previous doorwar.
Cast rejuvenation on Eagle Spirit for 40 mins.
When Anzu's health reaches ~1000-2000 health, 1 shot him with starfire or moonfire.
Recast soothe animal on Cobalt Serpent. Loot Anzu and possibly the mount.
Run out of heroic sethekk halls, and logout at entrance and play an alt. Or hearth out and do whatever you want.
If the mount drops, grats! If not, come back tomorrow and repeat.
is he still a druid required summon?
Even if you are a very poorly geared feral tank Anzu should be a freebie. With a little Naxx-10 gear, some heroism-badge gear, and a couple valor-badge pieces (the cloak and ring), and even some heroic dungeon gear still, the fight should require very little strategy.
As long as you have Improved Leader of the Pack you'll most likely end the fight at full life or close to it. Activate barkskin during the 5 second stun, keep demoralizing roar up, and just mash on buttons (mangle, lacerate, swipe, FFF).
When the adds spawned I just swipe-spammed and didn't bother with maul so that I could build up 100 rage to dump some more damage on Anzu. When Anzu came out of immunity, even if I had adds up I just went back to swiping him. The adds do so little damage they'll likely kill themselves on thorns eventually. They hit for around 100ish and aren't much of a threat even with a few of them. If anything they were giving me more rage to dump on Anzu.
For comparison, I've got 35k HP, 27k Armor, 34% Dodge in Bear Form. If you are around these stats or even slightly below you shouldn't have to worry about strategy or planning or placement. Don't worry about dragging the adds behind a box or what skills the boss has or keeping friendly adds alive. Just go in their and faceroll him, pretty much.
Finally got Anzu on my third run. Yes 3rd run, I consider myself real lucky. It was very easy for me since Im a feral Druid in Naxx gear. The hardest part was clearing his room. When there was a pack of 2 prophets I would just root one and kill the other one real fast. Feral charge plus bash would keep them stunned long enough so they can't fear. Anzu was an easy kill. Just made sure I healed myself when i had to during this banish stage. Now time to farm ZG for the tiger mount.
could a lv 70-75 druid solo him? you could stealth there in cat form
no if ur lvl 75 ur gonna get destoryed. not to mention that room is a real pain to clear.
but if you're gonna try and clear it at 80, prophets in his room should die first, that fear is the end of me most times
lol, downranked by morons who never been there, they should remove this + minus crap from the site.
Sorry for asking stupid question, but i need to be surely clear. Can i obtain Raven Lord, when i am not Druid? Also please don'T downrate, i need to know it, thanks for response.
When you solo him, make sure to kill all adds in the room first. Otherwise they will aggro in the first Banish phase, when all the raven adds spawn.
Even with two healing trinket (
Mark of Conquest
Darkmoon Card: Heroism
) + Ulduar Tank Gear I didnt have a change against the whole room + Anzu + raven adds
I comfirm Resto Druid Spec PVP can easy Clear all Room in 30 Min Trash and 8 more Anzu the Raven God .
If its drop 100 % ur but take mutch more Time .
I used Glyph of Barkskin + 2 points on Improved Barkskin and points on Insect Sawrm
2200 SP i solo him
Kill Time-Lost Controller as Priority
And Kite Each Group Around Chest whit all DOTS its take Few minutes each Group
UR NOOB AND CANT SOLO AGAIN AND AGAIN
Heal this Birst they will HELP u alote to kill him
When Anzu is summoned, three friendly NPC bird statues appear as well. Casting a druid HoT on the birds will awaken them for the HoT's duration, and will provide the following effects to the group:
■Hawk Spirit (left): Grants Protection of the Hawk. All players receive 500 less damage from every attack. Applied before armor.
■Eagle Spirit (right): Grants Spite of the Eagle. Deals 300 damage every second to all enemies in the room.
■Falcon Spirit (back): Grants Speed of the Falcon. Gives 25% movement speed increase, 25% ranged haste and 25% spell casting haste.
Hope This Comment will Help Druid Resto SPec Only

i do the nightbane chain quests today , and 1 from the quest want me to kill bosses in 2 heroic , 1 from the bosses are in the Sethekk Halls , after i kill the boss i go to sum anzu and he drop the mount to me
just today i got it , i farm about 6-7 times then he drop to me
ye , see my comment before 7 days ago
thats mean in 1 week i got it
I've started a farm for this guy on my warrior. Here's how:
Stealth in with the lvl 80 druid i have laying around, summon boss.. have a friend standing inside the instance, so that when i log on my warrior and enter, it's the same instance id.
It takes a bit more time than a stealthing druid, but you can bypass most of the packs purely by being lvl 80. Being nightelf is a bonus for shadowmeld as well.
Well guys, I've been wanting this mount ever since I saw someone with it, I've seen it drop 6 times and lost it 6 times. What else can I say?
I believe this is soloable by a lvl 80 frost mage, I tried today, but failed, although I still believe its doable.
My mage is a level 80 Human Mage, Elliza on Burning Legion EU. Feel free to check out my spec(a pvp spec, not for Anzu farming :p) and gear.
What I did was, I used Mirror Images, Water Elemental popped Icy Veins and started nuking as hard as I could. Got him in the first banish phase quite easily. Images died so did the elemental. You might wanna slow down the add killing so you can have your images off cooldown after he goes out of the second banish phase, otherwise you die without anything to divert his attention from you. After banish phase, pop Cold Snap, use elemental and Icy veins again. Nuke to 2nd banish phase, evocate, bandage pot/gem if needed (I use glyph of evocation). Again wait a bit for images to recharge. If he starts casting Paralyzing Screech, pop Ice Block so you don't get unwanted dmg. After he exits 2nd banish phase, pop images and hope you don't die. Nuke hard and try to avoid being near him when hes killing your images. Don't forget to remove curse.
I'll post an update when I get him down. Good luck and keep trying.
(Soloing this because I cba to pay some1 for help or pay 1k gold to some1 for a summon, I usually pay 20g which is reasonable if I can solo him.)
1. try: Boomkin 5/5 T9,5 - died on 55% - crits for 6,5k and 6k...
2. try: Tree (pve resto with bonus armor talent), downed in 7 minutes - keeping up all spirits and doing dps with glyphed and talented barskin....just decursing mana bomb and using innervate on cd...not so easy but doable.
This doesn't have anything to do with what you guys are saying, but i noticed that the Reins of the raven lord are not on Anzu's loot table.
And im pretty sure it still drops, Can anyone confirm this?
this is one black blue gold and birdy peach :D
(those that understand this,gold star!)
Confirmed, Reins of the Raven Lord still drops in 3.3.
Got mine today after about 3 months farming Anzu everyday.
Also confirmation that it drops in patch 3.3 droped today 31.12.2009 after 49 times.
Druid feral tank lvl 80 with no worries .
I kept track easy i just killed last boss every time so i could check up in statistics how many times iv been farmin it .
Good luck to all
Got it few minutes ago! so happy :P
A tip for those who have their mounts already and are helping others to farm him: assuming you're both 80s, you don't need to clear through the instance. After 82 tries, I've gotten the reins for a shadow priest friend. Here's how we've been doing it:
1. Buff up and clear the entrance hallway.
2. Position your friend in that hole in the middle of the floor in the first room. If the trash pull to the right of the door has a habit of jumping your buddy on the way, I recommend clearing that pull before your friend goes to sit in the hole.
3. Stealth through the instance, directly to
4. Make war on Ikiss, opening the shortcut and allowing your friend to come up and join you.
5. Backtrack through Anzu's room to clear trash; it's faster and easier with two people, especially if one can break fear on the other. Put the moonstone in just before you pull the last pull and kite them behind the box in the corner, he will be about done talking by the time you've cleared the last pull.
6. Kick Anzu in the face, cross fingers for reins.
Each run took me about 20 minutes between initial buffing and my frustrated war stomp on his corpse when he gave us yet another boomstick or talon. By the time we saw the reins again, I'd gotten so used to the instance that I was starting to clear the trash out of the room 2 pulls at a time. I don't recommend this unless you're at least Naxx25/U10 geared.
Does he still drop the Reins? They're not listed in his loot table.
Yes, the reins still drop! Got mine last night after a whopping 4 attempts ^_^
So I'm not so sure about this but I was wondering if I summon him on my druid, log out with a tank still tanking him can I still log on my pally and kill him or will he despawn? I don't want the mount on my druid just my pally.
Very easy solo as a moonkin in ICC gear.
For the trash, root one add, hibernate if there's a bird. Trash should be fairly easy. Cyclone if you need it to stop some damage.
For the boss, I pre-hotted myself and nuked him to the first banish phase. I re-hotted myself before the adds came, then went back to moonkin, ate the stun, then hurricaned them down. Hotted myself again as Anzu ran back to me. Used treants/starfall to push him to banish again quickly. Rehotted + innervated before the second pack came down, then aoe'd them down. Rehot one more time before he comes over for 33%-0. I was never remotely close to being in danger of death. I cast regrowths on each of the bird spirits before I pulled, but I doubt it was necessary. I also did not trinket any of his stuns.
I did this at Resto druid, full PvE gear and PvE spec, very easy. I cleared the room summoned Anzu hotted up and moonfire spam. Deadly boss mods is very useful for Paralyzing Screech, during that I used barkskin. and you can dispel the spell bomb decursive helps here.
Cant find him and i want mount!
I have a druid character and a warrior character , and i want the mount on my warrior , can i summon this NPC on my druid , re-log on my warrior *assuming they are in the same party* and it will be there or does it despawn ? thanks.
Question, does the falcon increase the speed that the hawk does damage? Tried testing myself but couldn't tell.
Im trying to find out spell ID of Banish he does on himself during fight? But no luck :X Anyone happend to know it?
I just soloed this...as a shadow priest. Yes, it was very hard. I died probably 10 times before I finally got him, but it was worth it. I used my druid alt to summon him, and was able to bring my priest in there to kill Anzu by having a guild mate in the group with my druid while I cleared all the trash and summoned Anzu on her. Once I had summoned Anzu on my druid, I alt+f4 and then had my guild mate invite my priest to the group, which allowed me to have Anzu up in her instance.
I didn't use any potions/flasks, but they might have made things a little bit easier. I am in partial ICC25/10 gear, with a GS of about 5800. I relied a lot on vampric embrace for healing, with clever uses of dispersion when he would stun me with the bird adds all over my face.
I had to time my heals and use PoM/renew/shield to stay alive when he spellbombed me, as I am a priest and cannot dispel curses.
So fear not, squishies! It can be done...I love this mount and determined to get it, and now that I know I can solo it on my priest I am looking forward to getting to do it every day =)
Edit: I finally got Anzu to drop his mount last night! =) I am so psyched!
Soloed in cat spec & gear (GS 4625) / bear form (about 26k health). Died the first time because I'm a newb and panicked during the banish/birds. Second time it was quite simple. My health didn't drop below 2/3 until after the second banish, and I still had my cooldowns.
Clearing the room was harder than the boss I'd agree.
No mount yet, but I'm going back tomorrow night. He's too cool to pass up.
Went in last night to give this a go and didn't find it as easy as some people make it out to be. The trash took a little bit of time, but proper CC'in makes it fairly easy.
I am currently Balance and just sat back and HoT'd up the Eagle for a while, got impatient and went to engage. Did this for a few tries before I decided to call it quits. I would think it is possible to just sit back and HoT the Eagle and just let that tick away, but that would be like a 20min wait before engaging to finish him off. Might look into grabbing some Feral gear before I work it again.
If anyone has any better ideas, I am all for it.
Just soloed him as a balance druid. The important thing is dispelling the Spell Bomb curse. The curse does not end when it deals its damage, it just keeps hitting you every time you cast a spell over its duration, so that
to go before you finish casting your current spell or refreshing your HoTs; it's like standing in the fire.
I'd recommend keeping the Hawk and Falcon spirits up and not wasting a cooldowns on the Eagle. It took me three or four tries to work out the details, but now that I've got it figured out I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get it in one try most of the time from now on. HoT yourself and the spirits up and nuke him down through the first phase, then HoT again and take care of the adds. If you get stunned while in caster form you could be in trouble. The main thing, though, is Spell Bomb and dispelling it.
This just dropped for me, and yes, it was my first kill o.O. Didn't really believe my eyes but it was there for sure :D. Another amazing thing was that right before I went Sethekk Halls I had been in Zul Gurub and won the tiger :D Kinda lucky day really ^^
After quite a few attempts I figured out how to solo Anzu as Boomkin spec, it seems a bit harder than Feral but it works. I was in icc10/25 gear.
Have a pvp trinket equipped.
Start the fight with Treants and an Insect Swarm, while the Treants are tanking Anzu, throw a Regrowth on the Falcon Spirit and a rejeuv on yourself. Switch to nuking Anzu. With the haste buff from the Falcon, he should get down to the first immune phase before you take any major damage. When he immunes, put 3 lifeblooms, a rejeuv and regrowth on yourself and starfall/hurricane to clear all the birds. If Paralysing Screech happens, PvP trinket it. Make sure to dispel Spell Bomb because it hurts ><
When it goes to Anzu again, you'll still have HoT's on you from the immune phase, so you shouldn't take too much damage. Remember to keep dispelling Spell Bomb. If Paralysing Screech happens this time, use Barkskin to tank the damage. When he immunes again, once again put hots on yourself before all the birds start attacking and hurricane them down (starfall won't be off cooldown by this point). Before the last bird dies try to refresh hots on yourself as you won't have anything to keep yourself alive during Paralysing Screech if he casts it again if you don't have hots rolling.
It took me a few attempts to get right but it works fine. Just hope it drops for me sometime now :D Good luck!
I see a lot of comments where people solo him as a feral druid, but I can say that this is
possible as a balance druid
Before you summon the boss Anzu:
: There are 4 packs of mobs + 1 Serpent + another pack in the next room where the final boss is. Cast
on the Talon Lord or on the Prophet if there isn't a Talon Lord in the pack. Cast
on the Hawks. Before every pull I cast Regrowth and Rejuvenation on myself, safety above all.
Talon King Ikiss
: Why? Because it opens a gate that opens a shortcut to Anzu. Saves time. This boss is quite easy. Again, keep yourself up with Regrowth & Rejuv although, you won't be needing this as much though.
Summoning and killing Anzu:
: I'm standing in the north-western corner of the room (
click for a map
). This makes it easy to cast Regrowth on the Bird Statues.
Start of the fight
: Before you pull, cast Regrowth on the Hawk Spirit & Falcon Spirit. Then cast Regrowth and Rejuv on yourself. Quickly get in Moonkin Form and start spamming Wrath > Insect Swarm > Moonfire > Eclipse > Starfire on Anzu (or whatever your favorite rotation is). Don't waste your Starfall yet!
66%, Anzu banishes
: Immune to all attacks. You have quite some time here to heal yourself up and if you get the chance throw a Regrowth on the Falcon Spirit as well. But watch out for the
! Dispel this before you cast anything else. Now when all birds are attacking you, pop Starfall. This kills them quickly, except if you're affected by
. If this happens and you already used Starfall then don't kill the birds with Hurricane, no, first renew both Regrowth and Rejuvenation and then finish the birds with Hurricane. At this time, Anzu will become attackable again.
33%, Anzu banishes
: Same story as at 66%. Best time to cast Barkskin is between 66% and 33%. Because your heals might run out before you get Anzu to 33% and the
+ Paralyzing Screech + Anzu attacking you, might kill you.
Key mechanics to this fight:
: Top priority.
Hots running when affected by
: This spell is cast by Anzu and has a 5 second cast time. Plenty of time to get some heals on you.
Focus on Anzu
: I never target anything else then Anzu during the fight. Use macro's (few posts above mine) for targeting the statues.
About the banish phases: When you are attacking Anzu and he gets to a certain amount of health, he will stop attacking you and banish. But the time between those two is a second or two. If you're doing 6k dps here you will get him between 50 and 75%.
I still don't have the mount. I'm trying this every day and every day I one-shot Anzu, but I still kill Talon King Ikiss for the shortcut.
Oh dear God, I was getting so enraged trying this as a boomkin. I couldn't even clear the trash in his room. Try not to tear your hair out attempting this. I imagine feral would make this smoother.
For the record, this is soloable as boomkin. What I do is stealth to the last boss and kill him, then kill the group of mobs in his room, then pull each other pack in Anzu's room 1 by 1 being careful I don't pull the 2 guards.
To kill Anzu:
Step 1: I start off with starfire, moonfire, insect swarm, starfall and get him to about 35 - 55% (It can be easier if you regrowth the bird furthest from the last bosses room, it gives you haste). I then spam click my decursive after he goes immune, wait for the stun then AoE down the birds, making sure ive got a regrowth and rejuv, and even a few lifeblooms on me if im low HP.
Step 2: I spam click my decursive again waiting for the curse, pop trees, moonfire, insect swarm, warth untill immune, then repeat step 1.
Occasionally I make stupid mistakes and he kills me but its very possible. Word of advise, try not to tank him in Tauren form :)
Sonicbloom - Cho'Gall
In Sumerian myth, Anzu was a large bird (eagle or vulture) who lived in the realm of the gods. He was originally a benign creature, but sometime around 2000BC, stories formulated that he rebelled against the gods.
The god Enlil had a number of objects that he would bestow some of his power into and which would then become a source of power for the gods. In Enlil's case, one of his main sources of power was his insignia, which included a list of all the "destinies" he had decided his subjects would accomplish (called a Tablet of Destinies). One day while the god was bathing, he took off his insignia and the register of destinies and put it aside. Anzu, who happened to be Enlil's guard, watched the god with envy and decided to make his move.
I shall take the gods´ Tablet of Destinies for myself,
And control the orders for all the gods,
And shall possess the throne and be master of the rites!
I shall direct every one of the Igigi!
He plotted opposition in his heart
And at the chamber´s entrance from which he often gazed,
He waited for the start of the day.
While Enlil was bathing in the holy water,
Stripped and with his crown laid down on the throne,
He gained the Tablet of Destinies for himself,
Took away the Enlil-power. Rites were abandoned,
Anzu flew off and went into
Radiance faded, silence reigned
Enlil was enraged by this action and called a meeting among all the gods to find a champion who would fight against Anzu, regain the Tablet of Destinies, and set the word right again. After a number of gods refused the task, believing it to be impossible, Ninurta agreed to the mission.
Soon, a battle ensued between Ninurta and Anzu. Ninurta called upon 'the seven winds' and shot at him with arrows, but the great bird held the Tablet of Destinies, which deflected all attacks against him.
As Anzu shouted at it:
You, shaft that came, return to your reed thicket!
Bow frame, back to your copse!
Bow string, back to the ram´s gut! Feathers, return to the birds!
He was holding the gods´ Tablet of Destinies in his hand,
And they influenced the string of the bow, the arrows did not come near his body
Deadly silence came over the battle and conflict ceased.
Weapons stopped and did not capture Anzu amid the mountains.
When that approach failed, Ninurta tried a different strategy designed to tire out the bird - he went after Anzu's feathers, cutting them, and then pierced him with arrows. When the bird fell, he cut his throat.
Anzu grew weary and in the clash of tempests shed his pinions.
He (Ninurta) took a throw-stick to follow his arrows,
And cut off his pinions, detached both right and left.
He (Anzu) saw his wings and emitted his utterance.
But as he shouted 'Wing to wing' a shaft came up at him
A dart passed through his very heart.
He (Ninurta) made an arrow pass through pinion and wing,
A dart passed through heart and lungs,
He slew the mountains, inundated their proud pastures,
Inundated the broad earth in his fury,
Inundated the midst of the mountains, slew wicked Anzu,
And warrior Ninurta regained the Tablets of Destinies for his own hand.
Does anyone know if you can go in as a druid alt, start the event with the orb then switch back to the one you want to mount on? I know they have to be in the same party, which isn't a problem.
After the implementation of patch 4.0.1 last night, I finally soloed him with ease as moonkin spec after multiple tries resulting in failure. The only problem is.. The quest to defeat him seems to be disappearing from my quest log every time I zone in. When I downed Anzu I hadn't noticed :-( seems to be a bug in the new patch and hopefully will be fixed soon
With patch 4.0.1
it seems that
need a druid anymore to summon this boss. The mount
still drops, this is just Blizzards way to make the mount easier farmable with another classes.
(the fact that the mount still dropps needs to be confirmed even tho my guess is that it still drops)
So far i see 1 comment confirming the mount still dropps after 4.0.1 , can we have more confirms plz. I am on my 140th try, and wanna know if i should continue of not. tnx
Got it finally on try 147. Also a guildie got it today, so i will double confrim myself that the boss still dropps this mount. Happy hunting
As of 4.0.1, you no longer need a druid with a Essence-Infused Moonstone to summon Anzu.
He is also easy to solo for a level 80 Death Knight.
I'm in sethekk atm (4.0.1) and anzu is not here and the Ravens Claw thing that you click on is here saying "requires the moonstone".
Currently he seems to only be there on EU realms not US.
After instance restarts on 15 /10 /10 Anzu is available on US realms.
The entire room is cleared of trash with just Anzu and the bird spirits.
he no longer requires a Essence-Infused Moonstone to summon and all the trash in her room and after her room has been removed. same fight as all was.
I have the feeling they increased the droprate on the mount. I see alot of people suddenly getting the mount since 4.0.1.
I just ran H Seth today and to my surprise Anzu was spawned with the room empty of trash. Additionally The final pull before the final boss was removed as well. Either Blizzard changed it so you no longer require a druid that has completed Swift Flight Form quest to summon Anzu, or I experienced a very odd glitch. Due to the removal of trash, I'm inclined to believe this was intentional.
As of 4.0.1, you no longer need a druid to summon him.
Anzu will now always be spawned, with trash removed. No druid needed :)
No longer need the druid as stated before. He is easily soloable as a 80 hunter. Took me a few tries until I figured out the trick. The problem is the birds that he spawns. When Anzu banishes himself at 66% and is preparing to sick the birds on you, just feign death. The birds wont attack you and will focus on your pet. I had a turtle tank for me, and he was fine taking the damage. Once Anzu comes out of banishment you can proceed burning him down (check your pets health and heal if necessary). He will banish again at 33%. Rinse and repeat until dead.
Very easily solo'd as a 80 combat rogue in ICC 25 gear. Recuperate made the fight trivial.
Good luck farming him :D
DO NOT NEED
a druid to summon Anzu. Happy mount farming!
Ok, I killed him yesterday as a Shadow Priest, however, today he is not there? Is it a once a week thing, or maybe a seperate timer to the instance?
As of 4.0.1 this no longer requires a druid to summon the boss. It now spawns randomly, you can tell if he spawns by looking for an emote in your chat log as you enter the instance.
1) he does indeed always spawn now, just soloed him on my DK.
2) for DKs attempting to solo it, beware that nor anti-magic shell nor icebound fortitude protects you from the stun effect on paralyzing screech. I had no problems soloing him (didn't drop below 95%) but I have an average ilvl of 251 so... o_O
If you're in blues, lower lvl than 80 or attempting it as dps you might want to make sure your HP stays high enough to survive being stunned at all times
edit: and this can probably counts for all classes so CloS and such won't protect you from it either, though DS and IB probably do.
For priests, it's easier solo him as Discipline or Holy than shadow. Just focus on healing yourself (mainly with Renew, PoM and shielding), and DoT's will do the trick. I'm inclined to believe that the gear you'll need must be higher than an average plate wearer or pet owner, but still... it's better than depending on not-always-there-to-help-after-I-got-my-own-mount friends.
Just solo'd as an Arcane mage as of patch 4.0.1 in average ilvl 264 gear. Strategy is fairly simple. I would put this fight on par with something like the Delrisssa encounter in Magister's Terrace as far as strategy and difficulty are concerned. I blow arcane power at the start only. I save Mirror Images and Iceblock (Paralyzing Screech) for after the 2nd wave of adds. Glyph of Evocation is very helpful. This seems to be a pretty flawless strategy if executed properly. Enjoy.
I was a bit apprehensive after reading he was already summoned, since the way me and my druid mate used to do it was hed stealth through, kill the last boss, id then run up through the exit ramp and help to clear the room.
So when i heard it was always there, I decided to start solo farming, since my druid mate moved server. We must have killed it about 130 times togeather.
I was pleasantly suprised at how easy it was to get to anzu's room with rocket boots and feign. Must have only taken 6 minutes or so.
Getting to his room, i was thrilled that the trash was gone! And it was easy from there.
As BM, rhino, in, MD always up with the glyph, keep pummeling him, feign when the birds come out, they go to the rhino, (due to lack of volley) and multi shot all of them dead. Rinse and repeat, didnt even need to use mend pet.
Very easy boss for a hunter, and I imagine when people have camo, it will be stupidly easy to solo.
(132 and counting..)
Easy as a protection paladin with an average item level of 204.
First of all, you can run past most mobs in the instance and the first boss if you stick to the wall in his room. You only have to fight those that stand in doorways.
The fight against Anzu is easy. Just use Avenging Wrath and Divine Protection when they are available and heal yourself with Holy Power/Word of Glory. Other than that its just tank and spank.
I used Seal of Insight, Blessing of Kings and Devotion Aura.
As of 4.0.1, you no longer need a Druid to summon Anzu, so anyone can go into the instance and kill him.
as of 4.0.1 this is easy soloable by a rogue, just keep reoccupation up and dps like normal, evasion when needed.
Frost mages (and anyone else) should remember that there are two add phases before deciding when to blow cooldowns. This was indeed not a trivial fight in ICC25 gear with a freshly built frost spec, and I only got it on the second attempt.
How I did it:
Positioned water elemental behind Hawk Spirit, 90 degrees across the room to the left. I stayed in the doorway. Let pet pull and get a few shots in. Nuked Anzu for all I was worth from max range until adds spawned. Each phase without adds runs like this: Nuke Frostbolt, Frostfire Bolt when Brain Freeze procs, and Deep Freeze whenever it's off cooldown and Fingers of Frost procs. (This is the typical frost rotation.)
Add phases: First phase I popped Mirror Image (because I forgot there were two phases) and they kept the birds busy while I rained a couple of Blizzards on them. Second add phase I had to get a bit more creative. Hit Frost Nova to get some range and then Blizzard a couple of times. Cone of Cold for any that get back in range. Anzu stuns you shortly after these phases begin, so you have to be able to ride it out. Make sure Ice Barrier is always up, and don't waste your Deep Freeze cooldown on the adds.
Final phase: He Cycloned me at the start of this phase and went after my pet. After that ended I was taking damage so I hit Ice Block to let my pet gain some more aggro and let my Ice Barrier cooldown run down. (I was reserving Cold Snap in case something went really wrong, but I didn't need it.) Then Blink for range and nuke until dead.
Had Evocation, Ice Barrier, Frostbolt and Deep Freeze (among others not relevant here) glyphed.
Things that might have helped: Cold Snap (as mentioned before) and PvP trinket (not sure if this works though). I popped Lifeblood (herbalism ability) once. A healing pot might also have been useful. I didn't hit Evocation on my successful attempt; I tried it on my first attempt but it was a complete waste of time and resulted in the wipe.
EDIT: Downrated? You people don't deserve any help.
I just got my reputation to honored today and I did a first try on this boss, and I looted it the mount ! I was amazed lol.
I can confirm that you don't need a druid anymore, as I'm a warlock and the boss was there !
Soloed as a level 80 Holy Paladin. Just keep constant Exorcism and Judgements up, Consecrate when there are adds, and make sure Retribution Aura is up. Long, but easy to do.
As patch 4.0.1 Anzu is just standing in the room, you don't need to bring a druid to summon it. Also all the room is cleared, so you don't have to clean the pulls first.
As Elemental/Restoration shaman is easily soloable. With Elemental you have to be a little careful with your HP/mana but the fight is pretty straight and kinda fast. With Restoration there's no problem with your HP or mana but the fight takes a little longer due to the lack of DPS.
I'm sure many other classes can easily solo it for the mount. Just watch for the
, they hit for a lot when enraged and you can die if you don't watch your HP.
Tried soloing Anzu at the start of WotLK as moonkin but with no success. Now after 4.0.1 hit and with the new abilities and spells I gave it another shot and it worked. By keeping the Hawk and Eagle spirits up, HoTing yourself, applying DoTs and just spam Moonfire (and casting starsurge when shooting stars proc) it wasn't that hard killing him so if you lack the feral gear but got balance give it a try!
Had mostly ilvl 264 gear with 8203 armor (35%) outside of moonkin form (+10k if in, ~54%) since you need to HoT yourself and Anzu was hitting for around 3-4k.
Been farming on my Druid for quite some time, still no drop? :( Anything special you have to do?
Also if it is farmable, thinking of taking my other alts to farm the mount, do you still need to be attuned for levle 70 heroics in order to enter the instances (Outland dungeons)?
Playing a shadow spec priest this fight is tough. I cant get around the bird adds. I get stunned every few seconds and cant kill them with Mind Sear. Raven Lord is one of my most favorite mounts in the game and I really wanna be able to solo this. Any suggestions? Ive never played Holy or Disc but Im willing to try if it means I can do this fight easier. The damn curse is hurting the most.
Update. Finally did it. When the adds come up i spam tab each one and put pain on all of them. Then simply stand around and keep my self bubbled and healed and Mind Sear when im not cursed. Same for second set. Once Anzu comes out of his Banish the second time I go for him even if birds are still up. One hell of a fight.
Running this as a shadow priest ilevel 264gear.
Engage as normal, when he summons birds I throw single SWP dots on them and DP on one to help regen HP. Watch his Spell Bomb (8 seconds) which causes casters to take damage when casting.
Birds will die easily from a single dot. Have dispersion ready if you get stunned and he starts beating on you. Keep shield up.
If you are very low HP after a bird phase send in your Shadowfiend and hit Fade and let the minion tank while you pop some big heals on yourself.
ummm...do you need to be attuned to enter level 70 heroics?
wanna take other alts
Solo'd as a arcane mage, keep the curse off and burn him as fast as you can. The adds did most of the damage to me. I got him to 3000 health before he used his second self banish pretty sure you can kill him before that if you get lucky.
The drop rate didn't increase at all, so I find the whining about this frustrating. Why should a specific class be necessary to get a dropped, not class specific mount? People that really wanted it just brought a Druid anyway.
Not hard to solo as a 80 combat rogue in decent gear (I have mostly 264, some 277). Blow evasion at the beginning, get some space when he goes immune and bandage, pop blade flurry when the adds come down and use CPs on recuperate and keeping snd up - should be cake. I had full health when the 2nd swarm of adds died and I used no pots, no consumables other than bandages.
Having just done this as a Warlock in above average (3k wowheroes GS) gear, I learned patience is a virtue.
I used a Voidwalker to tank and was in Affliction spec using Demon Armor for the healing benefit after getting my butt handed to me trying to blast him down as Destro.
I sent in my VW and let him start building threat and threw a Curse of Weakness on Anzu firing off a Health Funnel when the VW got down to around 20k hp. When I saw Paralyzing Screech start to come up, I topped off the VW health before the stun. Once the threat got to a decent level I hit him with my DoT rotation.
The summoned adds were the real pain without the VW AoE taunt, so I just used Sacrifice and a Soulburned Seed of Corruption followed by a Shadowflame to DoT the adds unto death. Then it was just a matter of tabbing through the adds to make sure none were missed or using Rain of Fire if you still had the VW shield up so you didn't lose any damage to knockback.
When Anzu comes out of his banish you'll have to hit him with Curse of Weakness again (it really helps) and basically start all over. Towards the end (after the second wave of adds) I used my Doomguard, but after the fight I wondered if I should have used my Infernal on one of the add waves. I may try that tomorrow.
Its definitely a challenging fight for a Warlock, but can be done if you are patient and use all of the abilities you have at your disposal.
Oh, and after Anzu, go kill the last boss. There is no trash between Anzu and Ikiss and its so easy it isn't even funny, especially after Anzu.
Easy as BM hunter.
1. Get a turtle with a
(I put the point from Last Stand in Charge - not needed here).
2. Get glyphs of Mending + Misdirection.
Keep Misdirection + Mend Pet up. If you're lazy, call pet back + Feign Death when he becomes immune. Only one bird will attack you if you happen to be feigning death where it is programmed to go. If \ when it's down, just wait until Anzu becomes active again.
Definitely doable as a disc priest, however he isn't as easy as people are making it out to be, his hits are devastating to a clothy, almost killed me, just make sure to have your shield/barrier up all the time, as for dps I just spammed smite and dots, the heals you get from atonement help. As he spawns the birds just spam holy nova, time everything. I did the instance with shadow up until Anzu, switched to disc then, just fyi.
5.8 Shadow / 6.2 Disc
You can easily do this as shadow if you have good gear.
1. Pop shadowfiend.
3. Nuke as much as possible pop trinkets etc.
4. Kill birds with holy nova, use PoM and renew, use dispersion if you go under 50%.
5. When adds are down, heal yourself up.
After that it's easy.
easily soloable as an elemental shaman
burn him down, fast. when he summons adds drop a fire totem, flame nova plus earthquake or CL, whatever is your cup of tea. keep urself topped of with healing surge, especially when u see Paralyzing Screech begin to cast. all in all, really quick fight, and pretty easy. and spell bombs is no longer a problem either, which is a plus
Anzu does not require any summon from a druid no more!
F.y.i , thought you wanted to know :)
Piece of cake for fire mage with ICC gear.
1)Nuke Anzu to 66%
2)Kill adds (remember to remove curse ASAP)
3)Pop Mirror Images and nuke Anzu to 33%.
4)Kill adds (still with mirrors help).
Feel free to use Iceblock/glyphed Evocation when you are in critical situation. Also recast Mana Shield everytime cd is off.
Spell Bomb also stuns when you cast a spell while affect. Get that %^&* right.
Very easy to solo on a rogue with recuperate being added.
Since there hasn't been a posting yet, and this is one of my favorite mounts i figured that I would mention some changes as of 4.0.1. Anzu no longer requires a druid to summon. He is already in the room and the trash mobs that were once there are now gone! I just checked it out today on my mage and was able to solo him thanks to glyphed evocation. I don't PVE on my mage, but I am in full wrathful PVP gear, and Anzu still gave me a good run. Sadly the mount didn't drop so I tried an bug I used in Heroic Escape from Durnholde Keep to reset the instance. Unfortunately, it looks like you are only able to enter here once a day so it will still be a bit of a grind if you're looking for the mount.
Good luck and happy hunting!
Solo'd as an arcane mage in 4.0.1. Took a couple of attempts to figure out, but then it's not so hard. Mana shield, you can pretty much stand and burn him to the phase changes. Aoe most of the birds, you can slow/kite one if you need time to regen cooldowns. End the birds phase on the opposite side of the room from Anzu so you have time to glyphed evoc or bandage if needed. You can use mirrors if needed, but be aware that if you do he may cast the cyclone on you - be ready to interrupt it.
I went into Sethekk Halls today to give it another go at this mount but Anzu was nowhere to be seen and all the normal trash had spawned inside the room. Anyone know what's going down with that?
I soloed this boss today for the first time on my shadow priest. It took me about four tries to get it, but, I found that the way to do this was to DoT the boss the first time around and use Mind Flay.
It's important to pay attention to when he starts summoning the all the owls because you want to apply Shadow Word: Pain on as many of them as you can before they begin to attack. Otherwise, you get stun-locked by them kicking you in the face, and no one wants that. Then make sure you have your shield up and they should die pretty quickly for the most part.
After that, I just had to DoT the boss and kite him around; didn't really bother much with Mind Flay. Rinse and repeat. :@
Just soloed this as a Balance Druid. I stayed in caster form so I could heal myself, and the spirits. Between healing myself and the bird spirits I threw a Starsurge and some Moonfires and Insect Swarms and Typhoons (basically any instant-cast damage spell I had at my disposal) at Anzu. Took me like 3 minutes. Sadly, no mount.
Easily soloed by an Elemental Shaman. Given, I'm decked out in average 266, but Anzu doesnt hit hard at all, only some trash mobs are somewhat a threat.
Was Farming him today for Reins of the Raven Lord, and in about the middle of the fight he whispered:- ''your magic shall be your undoing... ak-a-ak'' ...strangest thing ever.
EDIT: and this time:- ''Yes... cast your precious little spells, ak-a-ak!''
Solo'd him as a frost mage. Without too much trouble, wearing a mix of icc 10/25 gear.
1. Place your water elemental in front of Anzu.
2. Run to the side of Anzu, hugging the wall.
3. Let the water elemental pull with a frostbolt.
4. Run behind Anzu, by then the elemental should have a decent amount of threat.
5. Use your water element's frost nova (to proc fingers of frost).
6. Shoot off a frostbolt, followed by a deep freeze. If fingers of frost is stacked twice then shoot off an ice lance. If not use a cone of cold and kite him around.
7. Hopefully, by now Anzu is in phase 2.
8. Refresh ice barrier and get some distance between you and Anzu.
9. Once you come out of the stun, use frost nova and blink.
10. Use blizzard to AoE the birds down. If necessary, ice block, use your water element's frost nova and blink. Don't be afraid to let the birds hit you, ice barrier will hold up if glyph'd.
11. Once Anzu becomes live again, use invisibility and let your elemental regain threat. Cancel invisibility after 3-5 seconds.
12. Pop mirrors and icy veins, also your water element's frost nova to proc fingers of frost, then use deep freeze.
13. If your lucky you'll have Anzu down before another phase. If not repeat 8-10.
14. After AoE'ing the birds (assuming you had another phase) your fingers of frost should be proc'd, use a deep freeze and an ice lance if necessary to finish him off.
16. Cross your fingers and collect the loot.
Note: Remember to keep ice barrier up at all time if possible. You may wanna bring a heath potion and if your a Draenei, Gift of the Naaru helps too.
No longer requires a druid.
Possible to solo as a Mutilate Rogue in 264 (average) gear.
Kill two guards just outside entrance to Anzu. As second one is about to go down, hit Recuperate (hopefully with 5 combo points)
Stealth, run in, frontal attack to generate more combo points. Hit rupture as soon as you hit 5 combo points. I do not pop Evasion during Phase 1, but you might want to, depends on your toon's stats...
Use normal rotation, but make sure you have 5 combo points built up just before Anzu hits 66%. Hit Recuperate and back off a bit.
While birds are swarming, you should be able to heal for quite a bit, then FoK and burn them down. Attack Anzu again, hit Rupture at 5 combo points, and hopefully Recuperate with 5 combo points just before he hits 33%.
Back off as before, use a bandage and consider a healing Pot if your health warrants it. When birds swarm this time, you may have to pop Evasion, burn again with FoK.
Attack immediately when Phase 3 starts. If Anzu's health is low enough, burn him...if a bit too high, use Rupture at 5 combo points and continue to burn. Use Cloak of Shadows if you need to mitigate some damage. Burn down and (hopefully), you kill the boss.
Using this strategy, I usually have at least 25% health remaining, highest has been 57%.
As a tip to combat rogues: It's easy to get him once you use recuperate. Don't pull any other guards or anything. Just stay on Anzu and use Recuperate and all your other abilities. Don't need no potions or anything.
I did read the other comments, and the fact that it no longer requires a druid was mentioned as an aside, which is how I missed it in the first place.
I posted my own comment in hopes that the official mob information would be updated, since it still reads
"To summon Anzu, a druid who either is currently on or has already completed said quest must use the Essence-Infused Moonstone."
He doesn't seem to need summoning anymore... may have been mentioned before but then it may as well be mentioned again...
I confirm that
Reins of the Raven Lord
! Good Luck and Happy farm =)
Raven lord is very easy to solo as level 85
1080p High quality
Video of fury warrior solo'ing Anzu
More videos at >
Strats are no longer needed for this boss, very very easy at 85.
Boss is still availible and soloable at level 85. Unsure if the banish can be removed didn't know to test it on my hunter with tranq shot.
Guide to a frost mage solo of Anzu:
Pop trinkets, pet freeze, deep freeze, cold snap, deep freeze, and now you should be able to loot him.
In 4.0.3 it's now so freestyle :
Good luck! :D
Been doing this place every day for a few months now, no drop, but I have managed to get a kill record of 4 seconds, before he has a chance to use banish.
upon entering Sethekk Halls heroic to solo anzu today after the patch hit, I found the SH normal mobs in the room with Anzu nowhere to be found. Dungeon difficulty was definitely on heroic upon entering.
any clue? any chance this is a patch bug?
He's still there as of 18:53 server 2/11/2011.
Still there day after day in 4.0.6.. and still droping crap items but the mount. In two times i get a loot bug (grey bag although over the body) but nothing to worry about.
balance druid-> stealth through the boss: Hit strong 'till banish, wait 3 seg put thorns on you and hurricane in your position... kill adds and get back on boss. Sometimes you get an annoying Paralyzing Screech but nothing to worry about.
I went to the duengon and I din't find him there, so do you still have to have a druid that can summon him? The room that WoWHead says he is in is just full of trash...
Being him a raven and so, wouldn't it be nice if he were a flying mount now?
Soloed as 83 Arcane mage. Only got fairly crappy gear with some pieces of T10, so only kicking around 57k HP.
Start at absolute max range and nuke with Arcane Blast, hopefully by the time he gets to you he will be about ready to banish and bring out the adds.
Watch for his 8 second stun and hit ice block just before it lands, you'll still get stunned but as you're ice blocked the adds won't be able to hit you.
Once the stun wears off, drop ice block, nova, blink, and blizzard or spam flamestrike to kill the adds.
When the adds are dead pop mirror image and nuke him until he banishes again.
Next set of adds, pop mana shield and wait for the stun again - this time nova the adds and blink just before it lands, this will buy you some time for the adds to not be wailing on you. Again, once it wears off finish the adds and him.
Be aware of the curse he puts on you, if you cast with it on it will hit you much harder than either the boss or the adds do. Make a macro and mash it as soon as you see the curse land.
Good luck farming the mount!
Edit: If you're unsure about taking him down in one shot, go into the next room past Anzu and kill Ikiss - he's very easy and doing so will open up the back door so you can get back to Anzu more quickly if/when he kills you.
Your input is both valuable and informative.
Is it True that the raven lord dosent drop anymore because people keep saying that it dosent drop anymore and im wasting my time but i still belive that it drops at i think its drop rate is 0.8 or it it 1.8?
Becides only have started farming him a little tim eago about 3-4 days and also how many times can you d sethek hals heroic.
Thank you plz respond
I got my beautiful little bird after only 9 runs - Keep up the hard work all of you who have gone way past 25 runs - It'll eventually drop for you :)
Not much to say on the fight since it's pretty easy - though this can get to be a repetitive grind for those who are starting on this mission.
Good luck and have fun!
At 85 as a frost mage this run is about 5 minutes including the kill, making it easier to make it part of the daily routine during morning coffee. As of yet no Thunderchicken though...
I have alot of runs on for this bird -- around 50.
My friend has dropped all the mounts i have been farming and i havent yet dropped 1 of them
The Blue Proto Drake -- Took him 6 runs
The Deathchargers Riens -- His lucky ass dropped it in a Pug (2 runs) he rolled a 67, and won, the other rolls were unlucky, he now has 3 copy's of this mount. all on different Chars. Lets just say ive been for this mount alot longer that i should have
Raven Lord: Me and him started running around the same time, took him 15-20 runs, im on around 30-40
Just a couple of words of encouragement...I got the White Hawkstrider on my 7th try, so anything can happen. :) Maybe you can get the Raven Lord on the 1st try! Who knows?
(I stated my feat of getting the Hawkstrider of a reason to keep trying, not to brag at all.)
I'm well over 50 tries, so far zilch
about to forget about the whole thing, cause it's fairly obvious now that it refuses to drop for me
I just tried soloing as a lvl 73 sunwell geared frost mage. The best I did after 6 attempts is getting him to 28k HP. I'm giving up now but I think there is a small chance that it can be done.
For any casters that try and solo this instance, be wary of his spellbomb mixed with the Ravens he summons. They can be a nasty combination, even at 85!
I really wish i could tame him. Well, first things first i need the mount to drop.
Done him about 40 times now and no mount, hopefully i will get it tomorrow! :D
omfg... today i looted him and got Valanos Longbow... it is like 0,02% drop chance -.-
Dropped to me yesterday, after 6-7 tries. Strange thing is, normally it drops 2-3 items. When mount dropped, there was 4-5 items in the corpse.
Actually I'm glad you can only kill him once a day. It prevents me from soloing him over and over and over again, and thus going mad. That mount is just so cool! Now it will take me a month or two :P
I went into the dungeon on heroic mode and couldn't summon Anzu. :( Do you need a druid again or what?
I just tried to do him for the 61st time, and he's not there in 4.3. Saw the new in-dungeon quests givers who gave me quests I already had done. And then got to his room, all trash... looked at my difficulty... heroic. Even verified the portal texture was a skull when I left. If he's gone for real, I'll be a sad panda.
Okay, I don't know if it has to do with how they changed the dungeons, but as I said, I had verified it was set to heroic in both the menu and the portal texture from the inside was the skull. But I left, it let me reset, and re-enter, and do it again and it was fine the second time. Not sure what the deal is.
Been running this every day for months on hunter. Anzu was always there, but mount never dropped. Then ran it on druid and it dropped the first run. Now Anzu isn't even there on (85) hunter (in heroic mode). The room is filled with mobs, but no Anzu. What happened?
I can confirm what has been said, ran in on heroic, easily burning down mobs, got to Anzu wasn't there. Went back out, reset instance, set to normal, then back to heroic, and went back in, and he was there.
Finally! I got the mount to drop today, feels like an early Christmas gift! :D
If you're still around 40-50 and feel like it's never dropping, I did around 160 kills before it dropped so I know how it can feel. Just kill him every single day even though you hate the instance more than anything, and eventually it will drop. It worked for me! (I think I managed getting the runs down to ~2-3min which isn't much per day)
I'm not ever putting my foot into Sethekk Halls again though, that's for sure... ^^
Tip. Put your HS in Shattrath City, since there's a portal to either Orgrimmar or Stormwind in the middle of the city. Plus there's way less people and you have auction house there anyways so you're not really missing anything out. Therefore, there's no excuse not going to Sethekk Ba...eh Halls
every single day!
For some reason the mobs aren't cleared out, and Anzu is not there.
I've run the place a few times hoping to kill the guy (Nope). Sigh...
I am not in a group.
I know I have it on Heroic (maybe not right kind?).
I know which room he is in (the one right before Ikiss, has a blue tinge to the room on the map).
Looking for possible solutions, please.
Before this information is lost, when you summon Anzu, he says "Pain will be the price you pay for your insolence. You cannot stop me from claiming the Emerald Dream as my own."
i have now done it 63 time and still 0 drops...im beginning to give up. i did it daily and as everyone now knows this dungeon is easy soloable in lvl 85.
So when you kill the bird.. it drops another bird?
"Quoth the Ravenlord: I'll never drop!"
How do you summon anzu? By clicking an orb or something
I want to farm it on my 85 hunter but i have never done this boss before
When I go into this boss room, there are just three spirit there, no Anzu.
Im an 85. how do I change the dungeon to heroic mode? or is there some part i miss? I want to kill this boss. for the drop lol.
Farming the Mount has pretty much become a Daily with my own personal Achievement.
So far I managed to get him on 6 Characters but despite my greatest efforts I'm not able to down him before he manages to cast his ( uber annoying ) self Banish at least once.
The best so far was a 1% attempt with my Arcane Mage bombing the Nether out of him using
in which he then dropped the Mount.
Anzu must have feared me returning once more with better gear so he probably just gave in.
Anyway... If you can you should try to get the awesome mount from him which shouldn't take more than 10min a day.
If you're still in the early 80s I do recommend to kill
Talon King Ikiss
first so you can enter from the exit in case of a whipe.
The reputation is now
on heroic as of patch 4.3
While I've killed the boss before solo, I'm curious about something.
Went to do a mount run today, and for some reason he's not there.
It's been about a week since I killed him last, and he's missing this time.
Any ideas or explanations why this happened?
Edit: Figured it out. It was set to heroic, but the instance wasn't actually heroic. Double check mob level before you start clearing the place. There's a good chance you just need to leave, and reset the difficulty. I put it to regular and then heroic again and reset all instances. Worked like a charm.
Just got my
drop on my human priest Solstrålen, Tarren Mill - EU, today. Only miss it on my Shammy and my Death Knight now. But Im gonna keep going until i have it on all my 10 lv 85 characters. Perhaps ill get a server first then! I will post drop video on
later on today!
Anzu puts up quite a fight for a little lvl 72 elite in an ages old dungeon.
Edit: well, it's 5.1 now, and I down this bird in under five-seconds. It's so nice not to have to see him go immune ever again!
Why Raven lord (
) is not in Anzu´s loot list? not obtainable in Pandaria?
For what it matters, I have entered Setthek Halls fairly often in the past, never seen the mount till now. The first time I enter in 5.0.4 it dropped. So it is available in the prepatch the least (I see notes about it possibly not being available in MoP proper) and possibly the droprate has been upped. Either way, happy... err.. panda.. here.
According to Dungeon Journal loot table, the mount is no longer dropped by Anzu. If you didn't get it before the patch on at least one of your characters, your only hope is the random satchel.
This dropped on my 2nd run... lucky me.
Anzu's health has been buffed to 295k in patch 5.0.5.
I got another Raven Lord while researching this information by the way. It definitely still drops in this patch.
This mount is definitely obtainable, I have just got it today on my BM Hunter, happy hunting!
skipping most mobs (including a boss) up to
and not letting him phase. Doesn't matter if he's allowed to stealth, you skip stuff and still available in 5.1. :)
A lvl-70+ Protection Warrior should have no problem defeating Anzu if the talent Second Wind is active.
I like how he's worth 41s and 89c. haha
Update: now he's worth 41s and 18c, lol
He only spawns in Heroic, fyi.
I wanna tame Anzu! D: ):
The gun Anzu drops has a similar look to the one dropped by Doomwalker, except this boss is much easier to farm. Enjoy.
Got mine on 5th run. Boring \o/
Anzu's listed as being tameable when beast lore has been cast. Unfortunately it'll give you an error saying it's not tameable as of now. Hopefully we'll see a fix soon.
Patch 8.3 Hotfixes - February 3, 2020
, Blaithe, Doe, Greathorn Stag, Irewing, Motorback Ape, and Porkchop are now tamable.
Tameable as of 8.3
I really have to wonder if there was some internal miscommunication in regards to the Feb. 3 hotfix to allow particular mobs to now (supposedly) be tameable. It's been two weeks so far and Anzu
cannot be tamed despite
: This issue has been fixed as of patch 8.3.7 (finally). Thanks for the updates, sw1fterly and FrankS414! :)
March 9th, still not tameable.
For those looking to tame Anzu, go tame
instead, he's a little ways into the Hyjal questline, near Aviana's nest, for the quest
A prayer and a wing.
Ok so I've found a way to tame blaithe solo even if you've already completed the quest. All credit goes to Foxinhound US realm Thrall:
Have your alt, in my case my rogue get to the quest.
Go to group finder on your hunter and create a group name it something easy like mmm
Swap back to your alt and find the group an apply
Log back onto the hunter and invite, go back to alt to accept (convoluted I know).
IMPORTANT WARNING! The NEST you use is important due to Phasing issues.
I Used the nest located at (49.79, 41.59)
Have your alt summon the bird, then either jump off the mountain, run away, or in my rogue’s case just vanish. This will reset him allowing for a tame.
Quickly log off and onto your hunter.
It worked for me hope this helps you.
And this worked for me too.
Anzu currently IS tameable as beast lore says! Today I ran Sethekk Halls and decided to try and tame him for the heck of it, not expecting anything to happen because I remembered reading it didn't work. But the tame went through just fine! He retains his name after taming. Also, taming him doesn't remove or defeat the boss. A moment after taming, Anzu the boss respawned and I was able to kill and loot him.
Maybe they fixed the issue in one of the recent hotfix patches? I will try to add a screenshot later.
When I tamed him, Anzu kept his name!
He is now tamable, I tamed him today with no issues. Happy hunting 😎
It is Tamable, makes a sound when clicked, and you still get the loot mailed to you after taming it.
If you are doing Sethekk Halls as a hunter to tame Anzu and you can't see him, check to make sure you selected Heroic mode before entering the instance. Anzu will not show up in Normal mode.
