Maelie seems to work similarly to the 友善的羊驼. She goes missing from Keeper's Respite ~~daily~~ ~~(possibly changed to weekly or bi-weekly on live, as the quest has not reset for me after doing it on day one and Maelie is still standing next to Tinybell)~~, and you can find her in various spots (likely many more than I've found).

ETA: I was able to find Maelie on Tuesday, and then the quest was flagged complete until today, Friday, when I was able to find her a second time. I would suggest either checking the script below or seeing if Maelie is standing next to Tinybell at Keeper's Respite - if the quest is "true" or Maelie is present at KR, she will not be visible even when other players have found her location for the day, because you won't be eligible for the quest. I haven't run into the "player can target Maelie but not see her / quest returns 'false'" issue personally, but perhaps using an "Interact with Target" macro would help? Also, speaking to Tinybell after finding Maelie hasn't made any difference for me personally – it hasn't made the quest reset the next day.

When you click on Maelie, your character casts 安抚, and two lines pop up in chat:

Maelie the Wanderer nuzzles you happily.
Maelie the Wanderer is returning to Keeper's Respite.

Maelie appears to be a little different from the Friendly Alpaca, in that, as far as I can tell, she has a static location each day and doesn't disappear/reappear or have only a short time during which players can interact with her. On any given day, all players who are eligible to find Maelie seem to be able to do so at the same location for the entire day. You can check if Maelie is currently 'missing' (and if you are eligible to find her) by running the following script:

On PTR, after I found her on a character a total of 6 times, Tinybell had a quest for me when I went back to Keeper's Respite: 游荡者梅莉, which awarded 流荡者的缰绳! I'm unsure if the total number of finds on the live/retail version of the game is the same or if it has changed.

流荡者的缰绳 is obtained by finding the wandering doe 游荡者梅莉 in Korthia and bringing her back to her owner 小铃 every day for six days in total. On the sixth day when you return to 小铃 after finding 游荡者梅莉, she'll give you a quest which rewards Maelie as a mount.

游荡者梅莉 can be found in several different spots in Korthia, all of which require a small amount of parkour to reach. She'll usually be near cliffs or begind big tree roots. When you find 游荡者梅莉 you have to click her to cast Reassure, this'll reassure 游荡者梅莉 and she'll return to 小铃 in Keeper's Respite for the day. Next day she'll have run off once again. As for now it seems that 游荡者梅莉 will stay in the same spawn spot all day, so try asking around if people have seen her earlier in the day to get a hint at where she'll spawn. I also suggest using the dungeon finder tool to see if anyone has found her up and is willing to share.

I just found Maelie the Wanderer following those waypoints

It's easier to use a target macro, so that you can target her if you she is out of Line of sight

Currently during week 1 of 9.1 Chains of Dominion, Maelie can be bugged and will not venture out into Korthia again after reset. If she is sitting next to 小铃 (60.6, 21.8) then she will not be available to go out and click on. Another way to check is to run this command in game:

/script print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(64298))

If it results in true, Maelie is currently not available today, sorry mate!

Followed above coors 1 hour before reset and found her. Created a group-turned into a small raid and people came. Everyone could see her except 1 person. They said they got her on Wednesday and not since. I'm Trying after daily reset to see if its Fully Daily, Weekly or buggy.
Will update after.

UPDATE.
After reset Maelie is still next to Tinybell.

Once you find and click on Maelie, go back to Tinybell immediately. Maelie will be there.

If you don't, Maelie won't be able to be found the next time you try, until you go back to Tinybell, and see her there. After that, you can then go back to Tinybell the following day, Maelie will be gone. Tinybell must ask for your help before you can see Maelie again. She will initiate the conversation with, "Excuse me, ? Do you have a moment?"

Basically, you need to reset the find by witnessing Maelie back with Tinybell, before you can find her again when Tinybell asks for your help which seems to be every other day.

After 2 days being at Tinybell she was finally gone but there seem to be another issue now? Me and others have been looking for her all morning, as usual with macro and cant find anything. Anyone else have information? :)

Edit, im gonna check other realms as well and see if the issue is there as well.

Edit2. Checked all known spawn points and the rest of Korthia on 3 different realms without luck so i filed another bug report to the support.

Maelie found today on Kilrogg EU at 60,15 (the cliff near Keeper's Respite, towards the entrance to the Maw) at 15:55 ST.

Seems to be spawning again.

Got Maelie as of today as a mount - have done the dailiy finding every now and then, and Tinybell offered me the quest

Once you acquire Maelie, if you're trying to macro her in any way, the name you need to use is Wandering Arden Doe. This is both her buff name and her /use, even though the mount journal lists her as "Maelie, the Wanderer".

Small Guide how to get 流荡者的缰绳 in Korthia.

You need to find 游荡者梅莉 6 times in Korthia. Problem is that She is spawn every where on this map ( even on cliff ) and not every day. You just need to press on Her.

This is location where i find Her ( i remember only 5 xD ):

/way 35 46 on chain
/way 50 22 on cliff
/way 41 39 on cliff
/way 39 34 under tree roots
/way 43 50 under tree roots

Best way is ask on general /1 czat if anyone see Her.

After 6 times you will be able to get Quest from 小铃 60 21 游荡者梅莉 then return quest back to same NPC to get Your Mount 流荡者的缰绳

Instead of looking everyday for Maelie, just visit Tinybell. If she speaks the words, "Excuse me, <Character Name>? Do you have a moment?" then Maelie is available that day.

To get this mount you will need to search for the wandering doe named Maelie who is located throughout Korthia. Once Maelie is found you will need to reassure Maelie and then immediately go to Tinybell located here in Korthia, you will see Maelie with Tinybell and then Maelie should reset the next day and not be next to Tinybell anymore. Now after you find Maelie the first time you will need to speak to Tinybell each day until Tinybell has dialogue that states “Excuse Me, <Insert Name>? Do you have a moment?” Once she has that dialogue Maelie will be searchable again. You will have to go look for Maelie at the same locations each time as stated earlier. And you will need to keep repeating this process until you find Maelie on six different days, after you find Maelie on the sixth day Tinybell should give you a quest which rewards Maelie as a mount.

I'm so sorry that I haven't commented on this page. I was clicking around on a guide for something and came here and realized that I missed posting this information. I've been following Maelie since July 16, 2021 and I update her location every day on what I think is the "main" page for her. If you end up here looking for information on how to find her, head on over to the Maelie the Wanderer page for an updated location on her. I'll be following her through May for sure, but I'm making plans to keep doing it for a while longer for all the people that come back to the game! :)

When I found Maelie for the first time I received a message that simply said, "you have dropped the key". At the time my bags were indeed full of all the turn-in junk the Korthia zone provides, but I didn't see anything fall to the ground nor was there anything missing in my inventory as it was still full. I wasn't able to find much information upon this but someone on a Reddit post mentioned it happened to them as well and they were still able to get the mount after finding her six times.
