Korthia is the new zone arriving in Patch 9.1, Chains of Domination. As a new zone that serves as the hub for 9.1 with lots of new content, players can feel overwhelmed when going through it for the first time. This guide serves as a comprehensive compendium of all features and activities to do within the zone, such as quests, mechanics and other features.
Daily Korthia Caps
Many players are trying to maximize daily activities in Korthia, especially to farm reputation with the
Archivist's Codex
. You are able to check how close you are to the caps ingame with the
Korthia Daily Checklist Weakaura
, but we also have a list on what activities in Korthia have a daily cap. You can loot or kill the following before no longer seeing them or receiving rewards for the day:
5 Invasive Mawshrooms (no longer spawn for the day once looted);
5 Nests of Unusual Materials (no longer spawn for the day once looted);
3 Mawsworn Caches (no longer spawn for the day once looted);
5 of either Pile of Bones, Shardhide Stashes or Relic Chests (can be looted but will no longer give
past cap);
4 Riftbound Caches (no longer spawn for the day once looted);
4
/
Rares (no longer tracked for the day once past cap);
5 Anima Vessels (no longer spawn for the day once looted);
1 Helsworn Chest (no longer spawn for the day once looted);
15 Enemies tracked via
(rewards diminish the more you kill, no longer tracked after 15).
Korthite Crystals for Legendary Upgrades
Korthia is the zone where you can obtain
, the item to make
. This is the optional crafting reagent that allows you to upgrade basic legendary items to Ranks 5 (if used on a Rank 3 piece) or Rank 6 (if used on a Rank 4 piece). You have a chance of obtaining Korthite Crystals from the following activities:
Guaranteed reward from the Korthia weekly quest, Covenant Assaults and the first Tormentors or Torghast event of the week;
Chance to be looted from treasures scattered around Korthia;
Chance to be offered as a reward from Korthia dailies;
Can I Fly or Mount in Korthia?
One of the main features coming with Chains of Domination is the ability to fly in Shadowlands zones, after completing Chapter 4 of the 9.1 Campaign,
. However, you are not able to fly in Korthia, even after obtaining Shadowlands flying.
In addition to this, Korthia initially has the same mount limitations as the Maw, but don't worry - As you unlock Korthia, you will gain the effects of
, which will allow all mounts to obey your command in both Korthia and the Maw, so you will remain limited for only a short time.
Unlocking Korthia
You are able to venture into Korthia the moment Chains of Domination is released, simply by running south of the Beastwarrens area at the Maw. However, Korthia will be devoid of objectives when done so. To fully unlock Korthia, you must work through the Chapter 2 Chains of Domination Campaign,
. Completing each of the Chapter 2 quests will unlock certain features in Korthia:
- Start of Chapter 2
- Korthia is entered for the first time in the Campaign
- Unlock
, allowing you to ride all mounts in the Maw and Korthia
- Opens a portal to Korthia at the Northwestern end of the Ring of Transference in Oribos
- End of Chapter 2. Unlocks Daily quests in Korthia, as well as showing event announcements on the zone map and chat.
To have access to the Chains of Domination storyline, you must have completed
Chapter 2 - Torghast
from the 9.0 Covenant Campaign. For more information on the new content skips being added in 9.1, check this news post:
Requirements to Start Korthia Questing in Patch 9.1 and Quest Skips
Korthia Skip for Alts
Once you complete Chapter 3 of the Chains of Domination campaign,
, you are able to skip the first 3 Chapters of the campaign on subsequent alts. To access this skip, once you become eligible to start the 9.1 Covenant Campaign, talk to Bolvar in Oribos and choose the option
I have heard this tale before. <Skip ahead to Korthia.>.
Once you activate the skip, you will be sent directly to Korthia via the quest
. This skip unlocks Korthia, the effects of
, removes the Eye of the Jailer from the Maw, and unlocks Covenant Assaults and Korthia dailies.
How to Reach Korthia
Initially, you can reach Korthia by running through the south area of the Beastwarrens in the Maw. There will be two exits that lead to Korthia in Chains of Domination.
Once the Chains of Domination Campaign quest
is completed, a portal to Korthia will open in Oribos, by the northwestern portion of the Ring of Transference area. This is a two-way portal, as you can return to Oribos from Korthia at the obelisk found in Keeper's Respite.
Korthia Portal
At the beginning of the Chains of Domination Chapter 3,
, another way into Korthia is opened - On the quest
, a link between Ve'nari's Refuge and Korthia is established, with an Animaflow teleporter connecting both zones. The Animaflow teleporter will be behind the Obelisk in Keeper's Respite, and to the right of Ve'nari in Ve'nari's Refuge.
Keeper's Respite and new Korthian Factions
At the beginning of the Korthia storyline, players will come in contact with Tal-Galan, the Keeper of Secrets of Korthia. After interacting with Tal-Galan, players will be introduced to Keeper's Respite, the main hub for Korthia. Keeper's Respite is where a majority of the new NPCs will be, preparing for their stand against the Jailer.
Keeper's Respite is a Sanctuary area where the Covenants gather for daily tasks. Keeper's Respite has many amenities such as:
An Obelisk that leads to Oribos and a flight path to Ve'nari's Refuge at the Maw, once unlocked;
An inn with an innkeeper to set your Hearthstone (
) and a mailbox, a repair NPC (
) and a stable master (
);
Areas for each Covenant, where daily quests are given;
A
which will fly you to the Vault of Secrets portion of Korthia to the south once unlocked.
In addition to this, players can work with two new factions in Korthia, both setting home in Keeper's Respite:
and
.
Death's Advance
The combined might of the Shadowlands covenants, brought forth to breach the Sanctum of Domination.
The
is the main faction of Chains of Domination. Led by Highlord Bolvar Fordragon, it combines the might of all four Covenants, who scour the area looking for ways to weaken the Jailer's forces and eventually prepare an assault to the Sanctum of Domination, the Jailer's seat of power. For more information on the Death's Advance, check our reputation guide!

The Archivist's Codex
Korthian attendants have committed their existence to researching relics from across the Shadowlands. Led by their Archivist, they are dedicated to recovering the relics scattered across Korthia in the wake of the Mawsworn invasion.
The
is the secondary faction of Chains of Domination. Led by Archivist Roh-Suir, it seeks to preserve knowledge across all of the Shadowlands by researching and restoring relics lost to time, or this time, the Mawsworn invasion of Korthia For more information on the Archivist's Codex, check our reputation guide!

Mounts from Special Daily Events
There are three special events that can be done in Korthia every day, eventually leading to new mounts. Just complete them for a few days for three new mounts!
is a Cloudrunner recolor with a mauve and light gray color scheme, rendering it a quite unique rendition compared to other cloudrunners such as
and
. Like all other cloudrunner mounts, she's able to fly! To obtain this mount, you must find Maelie in Korthia and return her to her owner, the fae
, over the course of a few days.
can be found at several locations in Korthia, usually near cliffs or in between giant carcass structures. As new locations are consistently discovered, the below map and coordinate list is likely not final. You can easily find Maelie with a

macro, though, if she is not in one of the locations below. Maelie remains on the same location for the entire day.

Once Maelie is found, all you need to do is click on her to cast
, which will reassure Maelie! The cloudrunner will then return to Keeper's Respite on her own. Once Maelie is returned to Keeper's Respite 6 times, Tinybell will offer the quest
, which awards the
mount!
is a Shardhide mount, one of the new models added in Chains of Domination. Darkmaul has a purple and magenta color scheme. To obtain this mount, you must feed
in Korthia over the course of several days.
To feed Darkmaul, you must loot
from
s scattered through Korthia. These mushrooms can usually be found within small jumping puzzles like on top of trees and bone formations.
Once you have a Tasty Mawshroom, all you'll need to do is bring it to Darkmaul, who's sleeping at a den in the Northern portion of Korthia, and feed it to him! Once Darkmaul is successfully fed, you will be able to ride him for 2 minutes. Below, we have some Invasive Mawshroom locations in Korthia, as well as Darkmaul's location.
Darkmaul
Once you feed Darkmaul with 10 Mawshrooms, he will award himself as a mount!
is a Razorwing mount, one of the new models added in Chains of Domination. The Dusklight Razorwing has a purple and magenta color scheme, and works as a flying mount. To obtain this mount, you must locate lost Razorwing eggs in Korthia and return them to their mother's nest over the course of several days.
can be looted from Devourer mobs in Korthia, located prominently around the Estuary of Awakening and the Sanctuary of Guidance areas. These mobs have a fairly high drop rate chance for the egg, with Devourer rares
and
being almost guaranteed drops.
Once you have a Lost Razorwing egg, you must return it to the
located at the western portion of Korthia. Once one egg is returned, a

Sanctuary of Guidance
Once you return 10 eggs to the nest, the Razorwing Matriarch will swoop down on you, offering herself as the

Invasive Mawshrooms
Invasive Mawshrooms are treasures you can loot in Korthia, which provide players with Stygia, Archivist's Codex reputation, and items. There are five Mawshrooms players can loot every day. You can also find
inside them. Each color in the map below represent a possible location of one of the Mawshrooms that can be looted per day.
Riftbound Caches
Entering rifts you can find
which may contain Stygia, Archivist's Codex reputation, and items. There are four Caches you can loot per day, you can see their possible spawn locations in the map below. You may only loot one per color of the pin, that is, one red, one green, etc.
Stolen Anima Vessels
Another source for Catalogued Research are Anima Vessels. These vessels are weekly and provide a good quantity of research each. Every week you can loot three Stolen Anima Vessels from The Rift and four Stolen Anima Vessels in The Maw, two in each Assault. Below are the possible coordinates for all of them. You may only loot one per color of the pin, that is, one red, one green, etc.

Things to do at The Maw
Although this guide talks about Korthia, new Maw activities are also added, and we have a list of them below.
Covenant Assaults
Covenant Assaults are bi-weekly events that happen in the Maw, similar to the Black Empire Assaults from Battle for Azeroth. Every three and a half days, a Covenant will strike a specific area of the Maw. Completing a Covenant Assault will give you a cache of goodies from that Covenant, including Stygia, Korthian Gear, and more.
For more information on Covenant Assaults, check our guide!
Covenant Assaults Guide - Maw Invasions
Tormentors of Torghast
Tormentors of Torghast is a new event that happens in the Maw, in which Kel'Thuzad sends lieutenants from Torghast to assault certain areas. This event is announced by the zone announcement Kel'Thuzad commands his minions to assault <zone>!. During the Tormentors event, the area changes and becomes filled with mobs from that specific Torghast wing, and the area itself takes on a different tone, more closely assembling the Torghast wing the mobs originate from.
A Maw area during a Tormentors event, resembling Mort'regar.
During the Tormentors event, you need to kill mobs in the area and fill up the completion bar, with normal mobs giving 1% progression and elite Lieutenants giving 33%. Once the progression bar is full, a Tormentor of Torghast will spawn, allowing players to kill them.
Completing a Tormentor of Torghast event gives you
100 Reputation
with the Death's Advance and 75
.
The first completion of Tormentors of Torghast every week also grants a
, which has the following items:
50
200
1
, which translates into
200 Reputation
with Ve'nari via
Chance at the

In Korthia, you are able to obtain
Korthian Gear
. This gear, which starts at
ilvl 200
, can be upgraded with
from
, up to
ilvl 233
, which makes this gear a good means of catch-up for alts, or for mains to fill in slots they were unlucky on.

Achievements
Chains of Domination comes with many achievements, and it would be no different with Korthia - Korthia has many achievements and a final meta-achievement that involves both Korthia and Maw activities,

Just as a reminder: Skiping the quest line will
not
yield any quest rewards. Be especially aware that you'll miss out on the War Chest and some Renown if you're not at 40, yet.

Anyone know the quest id for the tormentors event?
评论来自
kurzio88
I think I did one Tormentor event, it tells you a bit in advance when one starts and there is a countdown on the map. It then spawns 3 rare mobs. Problem is those are like normal mobs, not other rares as in they can get tagged by opposite faction so I didn't get anything...
Edit: after quite a while a boss appeared adn that's the one that gives you the chest.

"Guaranteed reward from the Korthia weekly quest, Covenant Assaults and the first Tormentors or Torghast event of the week;"
Is this true?
I don't get these from neither assaults nor tormentors events.

I haven't found this information anywhere at all, so:
The 5 named trash mobs that drop Stygian Embers and their Locations:
Bonescream - after The Tarragrue
Borr-gahn - after The Eye of the Jailer
Soulember - after The Eye of the Jailer
Hollowsoul - after The Nine
Screamspike - before Painsmith
1 Stygian Ember per difficulty starting from normal.

The spawn order for the Tormentors should be:
Algel the Haunter
Malleus Grakizz
Gralebboih
The Mass of Souls
Manifestation of Pain
Versya the Damned
Zul'gath the Flayer
Golmak The Monstrosity
Sentinel Pyrophus
Mugrem the Soul Devourer
Kazj The Sentinel
Promathiz
Sentinel Shakorzeth
Intercessor Razzra
Gruukuuek the Elder
Time of day will vary as there are 15 of them and they spawn every other hour at 5 past the hour. If you can't see them on the map (though the zone-wide announce does give a location) then take the portal to Korthia and back again, checking the map as you fly back in (it sometimes does not show up in the area of Ve'nari's Refuge).
Note that when the clocks changed (in the UK and parts of Europe) the timer remained the same, so in winter they spawn on the Even hours, summer on the Odd hours. For example, Sentinel Pyrophus spawned after the mobs at 22:05, server time.

As of today (possibly earlier) the current Tormentor did not match WoWhead. The website said it would be The Mass of Souls but it ended up being Malleus Grakizz.

For anyone attempting to get the tormentors of torghast accurately in Dragonflight, the wowhead timers are dead wrong. The timers are set in GMT+0 (in my case I would need to add a +1 due to my GMT) AND the actual turn is also wrong, they have skipped a turn, meaning, if you want to kill Zul'gath the Flayer you'll have to aim for Manifestation of Pain in the wowhead timers.
Here is the spawn order:
Algel the Haunter
Malleus Grakizz
Gralebboih
The Mass of Souls
Manifestation of Pain
Versya the Damned
Zul'gath the Flayer
Golmak The Monstrosity
Sentinel Pyrophus
Mugrem the Soul Devourer
Kazj The Sentinel
Promathiz
Sentinel Shakorzeth
Intercessor Razzra
Gruukuuek the Elder
