Legion gems can be obtained by prospecting ore - namely

will produce Uncommon gems a majority of the time, while prospecting
yields a much higher proportion of Rare gems. There is an additional mechanic to be aware of, however - gem chips.
Gem chips are a new flavour item, yielded from prospecting (in addition to gems). They are used as a reagent in cooking for one dish -
When prospecting ore, a gem chip of a certain colour that appears in your Prospecting window will predict the
next gem that you will obtain
via prospecting, which can be quite helpful!
Note that the coloured version of each Gem Chip will only be seen in your prospecting window - the chips in your bags will be generic
As you are able to predict the colours of gems you will prospect next, you can prospect
until you get the gem chip colour that you want, and then prospect
to get the rare gem of that colour.
The gem chips you can obtain are listed below. In addition, the "Legion Gems" column lists the gems that correspond with the appropriate colour.
This will be the item that ends up in your bags after prospecting
Below is a list of the Legion gems, and the cuts available to each.
Is it just me, or is Pandemonite/Chaotic Spinel the rarest to get? I'm sitting on 0/1 respectively.
I'd say, "well they're not in any cuts I guess," but at the same time, neither is Furystone/Sangrite, and I'm sitting on 6/28 respectively.
Though, I COULD also be hilariously unlucky and there's some poor sap asking the same thing about red.
I just got a stack of 4 of these from
, have received other gems, both rare and uncommon, from these stomachs as well. Good to know since the enchant is pretty worthless otherwise.
When combined with
allows a Pandarean to Mega-Evolve
An addon that I use to help with prospecting is
Gem Chip Helper
"Automatically swaps to Felslate for chosen gem chip colors"
To see it in action take a look at
Elvinelol's Legion prospecting guide
It appears that Ashes, or Invincible drop more often than this Pandemonite . I prospected 900+ bits of ore (no B.S.), and nothing.
2 stacks of Felslate for a single Pandemonite :/
... and then one click on mass propect for 4 at once oO
These can be created from
Alchemy Wild Trasmutation
, wondering why is not mentioned here anywhere. I suppose the chance is less than 0.03 %.
If you are prospecting for Pandemonite and not using Mass Prospecting, here is a useful macro.
To do Felslate just make a second macro.
#showicon Leystone Ore
/use Leystone Ore
This will go through your 5 bags starting on the one farthest to the left. It will not
try to prospect anything in he bank. Anyway it starts at the top left of the bag and
then proceeds left to right through that row and then starts again on the next lower
row. It will skip over empty cells and cells with other stuff in them. The only things
that will stop it are hitting a cell with less than 5 of the right kind of ore and running
out of ore to prospect.
Today, I have managed to get one from prospecting Leystone Ore, so it is feasible to get it without relying on Felslate.
Wan't a 'faster' way to get these other than the 'slower' methods of the WQ and/or the shoulder enchant (or prospecting)?

LEGION TIMEWALKING VENDOR
How? She sells
Legion Reagen Bags
for pretty much all Legion professions. The Gem Bag,
, for 25
EACH can drop even these gems, that can't be hard farmed.
You just need some alts available to do at least the first TW Dungeon, for the 500-badge quest and amass huge amounts of gems (or any other mats, if you feel the need) and send all to proper characters.
Just keep an eye on the calendar for next events and schedule beforehand (even doing those before the one you need, to get more TW Badges).
PS: TW events bring opportunity that most people don't look closely, these reagent bags are some of them (The Meat bag, for example, also drop 5x
, each) and the Fish bag also can drop Fisherfriends' reputation items like
. Each TW event, from now on, you should at least pay a visit to their vendor and see what they're selling, not only mounts/pets/toys matter, even the reputation tokens might see some use (on that character you're trying to farm a rep to, buy a recipe for example).
