Obtained from work orders at the level 3 barn. I was only getting 1 savage blood per work order even with a level 100 skinning bonus follower active on the building. As of most recent build, work orders take 24 hours each to complete (20 with a max follower) so these will be a bottleneck for upgrading crafted gear. I suggest getting level 3 barns on as many alts as possible if you want to get your crafted gear upgraded in a timely manner.
Is the Barn really supposed to be the ONLY way to upgrade crafted gear? Seems like you need to catch a lot of beasts no matter which kind of gear you want to craft.
Seems like JC will be the only self-sustained profession, since it does not rely on
to create the highest ilvl gear.

As of build 18.104.22.16835, Savage Blood is required for the upgrade items for all professions. The work orders are currently (9/27/14) 4 hours per trap on the barn, allowing 6 elite creatures to be trapped per day with a chance for blood.
Hrm, seems to me that Savage Blood essentially is the new 'living steel' of WoD. The quintessential rare crafting material needed by all gear crafters. It will fetch a premium early on the AH, due to the hefty need for it to upgrade the crafted epics, as well the rng in obtaining it.
I hazard a guess that all those with massive amounts of xmute alts, will turn them into Barn owners to generate Savage Blood. Though its a significantly more complicated effort from just pressing a transmute button daily, as you need to actively go out and trap beasts to keep the workorder queue rolling.
At the current rate of Work Orders (4 hours) it will take 20.83 days to get
, which is needed to purchase the level 3 Barn. So until then, you cannot get the level 3 Barn to start farming
Keep in mind, these numbers are based on one character, but the achievement is account-wide. If you have 10 characters doing this each day, the achievement will go 10 times as fast.
However, if you simply need to queue the work order instead of completing each one, it should take 18.5 days to simply place all of them, at a rate of 14 work orders per building.
Furthermore, if you have
, then it will take 17.6 days to complete this achievement, since you get an additional 5 work orders per building.
trait will also increase work orders and further decrease time, if you only need to start work orders and not finish them.
Remember, work orders do not complete at the same time, one must complete before the next can begin.
Until you can get the level 3 Barn, you are better off farming

ok so as with all the professions in WOD im hearing how you can get X with this garrason building and X with this other building but what if you are a skinner can you get Savage Blood as a random (Rare) drop from skinning or is it only from vendors and the barn?
Weirdly enough, this item was ninja-hotfix nerfed all the way from epic purple to uncommon green. Interestingly unnecesary, if I may add.
So I know it can be sold/bought on the auction house, but does anyone know if you can just farm it on one and send it to an actual crafting alt?
So i finally got my Barn to lvl3, and its been up and running for about 24h, i put in 18 workorders made from Elite Clefthoofs in Nargrand, now i would like 2 see some bloods, but all i get is more leather... why?
I need to recruit me a vampire or a chupacabra to work my barn to get me more of this stuff.

Drop rate from work orders was boosted at 9th December. Yesterday i have opened 17 work orders and got 3 savage blood inside. Today i opened 3 and got 2 savage blood in them.
These are 1900 a pop on my server (KT), as an engineer, it would cost me 28.5k to upgrade my weapon... so much for being able to craft guns. I'm better off picking gathering professions and buying a weapon off the AH!
I imagine the drop rate on these will be increased at some point, or the requirements for the recipes to be dropped.
As of December 2014 this is the best thing to spend Primal Spirit on. At 10 Spirit per crafting mat it would have to be worth at least 20% of what a Savage Blood is worth for 50 Spirit. So if Savage Blood is going for 1500g you'll need your crafting mat to be worth 300g a piece, meaning a wearable item that uses 100 mat would need to sell for 30,000g. That's not happening anymore, so buy Bloods.
Its great to see the lvl 3 garrison and barn working for others..but..
I have put in almost 20 elite 100 trapped animals. I have a follower working and I have yet in almost two weeks to receive even 1 savage blood. I get savage feasts out the ever lovin' nose..I have had to use my primal spirits to even start getting savage blood's. Unless I missed something I don't know what to do. I'm putting in the orders correctly, have the lvl 3 barn, trap the right animals and I know they are because they damn near kill me everytime lol (those Alpha wolves hurt) If drop rates picked up. I unfortunately am not wielding from it..just one savage blood to show it does work would be nice instead of just feasts...
As I am a engineer AND a JC..not cost effective to buy the blood's in the least. Not having them drop at all for me in the barn is aggrivating and I'm already sick of wasting my time spending hours caging the beasts for it and getting nothing in return. Nearly two weeks, bug reports, and tickets and not a damn word from anyone..not to mention my NPC's are bugging the hell out half the time have to leave the garrison and come back just for them to talk to me to put in a order in any building. I have every building, garden, mine and fishing shack to lvl 3 in my garrison except for my stable (which almost is) with the time and gold spent..to yield something productive for both my professions is turning out to be completely without merit. I get my gears and my taladite crystals from my professions, why is it a building that is supposed to yield as the professions do don't?
I must be extremely unlucky, because as of the Dec. 9th hotfix, I've yet to obtain a single one of these from the Barn. In the two days before the hotfix that I obtained L3 barn, I got 7.
Not a long time ago players were selling this item for 1,5-2k and it was actually good to grind for in order to get some money. Now I am really disappointed seeing it going at 1k only and I guess the price of it will just go down more and more.
Soon there is no point grinding any of these mats.
If you have a lot of alternates as I do, here is something you can do. A level 2 mine can be obtained by a character at level 92. It is very easy to raise a character from 90 to 92. Here is what I am doing to obtain savage blood. I have a main at level 100 with a level 3 mine, and 10 alternates at level 92+ with level 2 mines. I farm the mines each day. Presently I have 1,367 Primal Spirits spread across these alternates. Primal Spirits are bind on pickup, but Savage Bloods can be mailed between alternates.
Some of these Primal Spirits have come from 3 herb gardens which can not be obtained until level 96. As I obtain more herb gardens, the production rate of Primal Spirits will increase.
In case you are wondering, assigning a follower to the barn will not increase the drop rate or chance of

Beware! You can steal a prey from other players just by placing your tramp behind the elite beast at 49% health.
It does not matter if they have not hit the beast, this is freaking happening.

Just a comment for those of you that are having bad time farming those, I realized that if you use the
in a creature that already has the "caged" debuff it awards one more
to start work order, tested this multiple times today with wolves in Nagrand, and each "encounter" awarded two caged beast instead of one.
Edit: This was fixed in 01/09/14 hotfix. Now it works as it "should" and is not possible to have more than one caged creature.
To trap an animal, you must bring their
health down to 50% or less
. If you are high dps, have a pet, bodyguard, or trinket proc ... they will usually die before getting trapped. When you place the

I have finished 20 work orders in last several days, only 2 savage bloods from them. Either there was some secret hotfix or RNG is working against me.
Looks like they can be acquired via missions as of the 6.1 PTR, too. Just picked up a 2-person 645 item level mission "Deathhoof" that rewards one Savage Blood.
There is something really strage with SB proc in the Barn. Placed a cap of 21 work orders, got 4 Savage Bloods overall with a level 100 Skinner assigned to the building. So it seems to me that as of Patch 6.1, assigning a follower really affects the productivity - in a negative fashion.
I would just like to note how relatively pointless the
recipe is. Given that the other methods are much simpler to farm, and the fact this transmute has a daily CD, unless you have an extreme abundance of
, I have seen players making use of the
which seems pointless, as you have a vendor available that sells the bloods for 50 Primals, which is exactly the same cost as using the cooldown-free creation skill, however without the wastage of herbs. Does anyone feel like the price at the vendor should be upped? Or the required catalysts dropped, for example to around 30?

Putting a worker with skinning at the barn increases your work orders. The Head Hunter in your Garrison Inn, who offers a new follower weekly with 1 trait or attribute of your choice, can be used to find a follower with the skinning trait.

Here's how to get a few more Savage Blood each day in exchange for garrison resources, in addition to what you can get through the Barn/Alchemy/Primal Spirit drops:
Build a Trading post on one of your characters.
Go out of your way on that character to collect more garrison resources (eg. hunt for
s or chests in Tanaan).
Make a note of the trade material requirements for the following quests:
When the trader at the
is selling these trade materials for 4 garrison resources each, purchase the required quantity for each 90+ character you have on that faction.
Distribute the resources to your 90+ alts, and each day realm hop them to the garrison of a player who has the daily trader at their
(Group Finder > Premade Groups > Custom > Find a Group). You are looking for people that mention Ore Trader/Dust Trader/Fur Trader/Leather Trader/Herb Trader.
Turn in the trading materials for their daily quest that rewards 25 Primal Spirit, then use that to buy a Savage Blood from the Primal Trader in the garrison (you can also trade any amount of trade materials to them for additional Primal Spirit, but the daily quests have a much better exchange rate).
I think I read all of the posts and did not see anything mentioning a not well geared player farming the bloods Solo.
I have a Palli at ilvl 690. If I put on all my buffs, drink a draenic strength flask, eat a legion chilli, and use an augmented rune and I bring my level 3 bodyguard along I can sometimes survive long enough to capture 8 or 9 beasts. When My Body guard gets killed my chances of surviving get very close to zip so I have to leave. Has anyone found a way to farm them that is easier , or even f a bit more difficult has a better survival rate?
Since Legion started, farming Savage Blood is the only reason I go to Draenor anymore. One of the easiest ways to make gold now, I find.
Solo farming is all over with as of patch 8.0. The elites all have 90,000 health while my level 101 stat squished Paladin has 18,500.
I collected all the solid numbers here (number of work orders and number of savage blood) and compiled them. A total of 993 work orders yielded 307 savage blood for a reported drop percentage of 30.92%.
I did not include those who said something like I got 1 per day for 5 days since that was too vague. If they placed the work orders late in the day did they count that as a day or ignore it? Similar issues with the last "day". Savage blood "per day" was just too vague and potentially inaccurate so those vague numbers were not counted.
Please note that I said "reported" which is crucial. We don't know for sure what the drop rate is even with doing an aggregate look. I put in a ticket when I got no savage blood from a couple dozen work orders. I was directed to a comment here on wowhead quoting a supposed 15% rate. For the 15% to be accurate that means a huge number of people aren't reporting when they get very few to none since the reported ones here give a 31% rate.
I've also come to realize that the standard deviation (a statistics term) is massively huge if the 15% is right. With two different GMs pushing the 15%, it seems that is the case. What that means is you can never count on the drop rate at all.
As for the comments like "it's not 15% chance on all work orders together, but 15% chance on each work order" - said here by at least one person and paraphrased by one of the GMs - they don't understand probability. The smaller the number of attempts, the less reliable any percentage is. But the larger the number of attempts, the closer one gets to that percentage unless there is something weird going on. What this means is you can't assume for a 15% rate that the 7th drop will be a savage blood if the first 6 work orders were a bust. 40 work orders could get you 6 but not necessarily. 100 is likely to get you around 15 plus or minus a bit. By 1000 you should have 150 plus or minus a only a few. Unless there is a huge standard deviation then the percentage stops having meaning.
TL;DR: Reported aggregate of approximately 31% rate on this page. But officially 15% is being pushed. Which means huge variability so the percentages don't have any real meaning. Some days all, others none.
Writing this comment during BfA, there is very little actual crafting use for Savage Blood anymore.
It is unlikely you will want to expend the resources to upgrade any WoD crafted items; you'll level through WoD quickly and get better items from Legion quests and dungeons very soon after you ding 100. If you craft upgrade items to sell on the AH, you'll have to charge such a high price to make it worth the mats that it's unlikely you'll sell many. Maybe it would be worth buying upgrades for a level 91-99 twink (is that even a thing?).
If you have an alchemist, at level 91 maybe you want to craft yourself one of the philosopher's stones (learned from
) which will take 15 Savage Blood. These stones are BoP so you cannot sell them.
And if you have an enchanter, you may wish to craft
and sell it on the AH, which will take 15 Savage Blood apiece. This is the only ongoing, viable, profitable crafting use of Savage Blood at this time.
So if you find yourself with Savage Blood on hand and you're wondering what to do with them, you may wish to get ~50 gold apiece out of them by exchanging them at the Trading Post in your garrison for
. If you don't have a Trading Post, you can go into the group finder and join a premade, custom group for garrison activities and visit someone else's garrison who has a Trading Post.
If you see Savage Blood listed on the AH for less than 50g, buy it and turn it in at the Trading Post for pure easy profit.
EDIT: as of the Shadowlands pre-patch, the upgrade essences can no longer be crafted and now are gray trash.
Now the only remaining uses for Savage Blood are if you are an Alchemist and want to create yourself a Draenor-level philosopher's stone, or if you are an Enchanter and you want to craft
to learn or sell.
There are NO OTHER USES for Savage Blood anymore
so trade them in at the Trading Post in your garrison for about 50 gold apiece.
EDIT: as of Shadowlands patch 9.1 the Bloody Gold Purses only yield around 3 silver and change apiece. So, vendoring Savage Blood yields more than the purse flip.
So apparently the only things this stuff is used for now, is in alchemy? All the other Draenor upgrade items have been removed from the game
The drop chance from the lvl 3 barn is either nerfed in 9.0.1 or bugged because of the lvl squish of the assigned follower 100 > 40.
As of 9.1 they're practically worthless, 3 silver each and I just bought 2800 gold worth on the ah for 25 gold a piece thinking I'd get 50 gold for them.
It looks to me as though Blizzard nerfed the Bloody Gold Purse from ~50g to 3 silver in order to remove that source of gold within the game.
The thing is, it's not just a source of gold, those Word Order: Barns are an in-game asset people have stockpiled. They serve as a store of value which they can be put to use generating gold. They were a way to diversify in-game wealth; the orders could quickly generate cash. Now they're useless.
The lesson here is that you shouldn't tie up your time and resources into too few things. Everyone who has built up multiple barns and bags full of work orders got shafted. Some things I can understand being nerfed. This one seems stupid, given that my level 60s can place multiple missions for gold per day at the mission table, which is a direct cash giveaway that can be eliminated or adjusted any time (and which was in BfA).
If they're trying to pull gold from the economy, rather than screw the gold makers, they should just put more gold sink mounts and pets and other items in the game. Same result.
So, apparently the only professions that still requires Savage Blood are Alchemists, and Enchanters. Every other profession that used to require these items have had their corresponding recipes depreciated.
