Apparently this no longer reflects hunter traps...what a shame...

With the chance to fail at 70 this has lost most of its usefulness.

This item used to work differently, currently it only makes you immune to spells and reflects them. It used to make you immune and then reflect the actual movement impairing effect, this is no longer case.

Its a trinket, so no set number of uses... but if Im going to pay 10+g to make one it better have a cooldown of 10 min or less... anyone know?

This is like, alliance's answer to shamans. I am a shaman and I would hate for my initial FS to bounce back and hit me. That would freakin suck.

This doesn't work with AOE spells (so no frost nova, blizzards, etc). This only reflects directed spells. IMO for PVP, the ice isn't as effective as the fire one, simply because frost mages seem to use more AOE than anything. Fire mages, from what i've seen, tend to use a lot of hard-hitting fireballs. Reflected 1k fireball crit = doomed mage.

Does this work on Frost Shock? If it does, it will be awesome. watching the shamans using their cheap frost shock to kite themselves without having cleanse. I'm sure hunters and druids will love using this. (You can easily expect a frost shock coming when you are low health trying to run away from them)

yeah the ice reflect frost trap is godly. But for those wars who face hunters in duels. You know after the first trap its over and a chain of traps is to come. Well turn this sucker on and charge at the hunter :D The hunter is caught COMPLETELY off gaurd and prob manages a scatter shot, but uve got the hamstring in by then. Its all over, unless its a crazy survival spec that can out melee you (havent seen one yet)its cake walk from there. Of course there is the FD trap but not nearly as deadly as the first one. And yeah, im not a rogue so i cant detect traps but i just turn it on and cap. And quite often i find a horde hunter unhappy :D

i dont care, im posting my comment about the shadow reflector on this. it rocks. was in WSG the other day, and i had the flag. the ally warlock is chasing me, and tries to use the affliction talent tree curse to slow me down, and instead slows down himself! wicked funny.

Now for the frost reflector comment. im a druid, and was in another WSG game with the flag. used frost reflector (i have 2 reflectors, frost and shadow). obviously, a NE hunter put ice trap right on the flag, and stil had about 6 ppl guarding. so i grab boots, nab the flag, get ice trap reflected and freezes the whole room. im outa range in no time with combo 2X speed and them all frozen. wicked funny. and guess what, happened two more times! i got hat trick, yay for me. i suggest having multiple reflector trinkets and a macro to switch 'em around when you're facing different classes (ice+fire for mages, shadow for priests and warlocks) HAVE FUN

well, a "macro" wont do anything. but you can do this...

make multiple types of these trinkets (fire ice shadow etc) and click and drag them to a slot on your toolbar. then by clicking on the new slot, you can equip it. this put a cooldown on all of your items;i dont know, havent checked yet. but it is a way to switch it without clicking and dragging during battle.

Just seein if anyone has read about Naxxramas. Supposedly Kel'Thuzard, the main boss and most of the rest of Naxxramas are ganna be shadow and frost. This might become more useful come the next patch.....

The ice reflector shares it's cooldown with all other reflectors (fire and shadow). The cooldown is 5 mins and you can have 2 of the same reflectors equipped or mix it with another reflector (ie. 2 ice or 1 ice and 1 shadow etc). Don't try to use the reflectors at endgame PVE bosses because it won't reflect their casts and the only bonus you get from them there is the + resistance. The reflectors are GREAT for getting more resistance without gimping ur gear in PVE or ofcourse for their reflections in PVP.

What if you use this against a mage, and he uses one too, then cast frostbolt?

Frostbolt hits you, bounces back, and then bounces ... back and forwards till the effect wears of or what?

Finally made one, diden't had to buy anything!
This is how I got the mats, maybe helpful.

Blue Sapphire - fished from floating debris in Stonetalon Mountains or mined from Mithril and Thorium-veins (a Engineer should also be a Miner!).

Icecap - got these from a friend that's an Herbalist (ok that's no helpful xD). Looks like swamp-Elemental-monsters drop a lot herbs! To see such a monster go http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/mob.html?wmob=14231
(this is a rare mob)

Frost Oil - sent one of my friends mats (use Evergreen Pouch to get herbs, go https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=1716 to see start quest getting this item) to make one and got another Frost Oil in that Morrowgrain-quest when handing in ten Morrowgrain to the guy in Darnassus.

Essence of Fire - gathered in Un'Goro, Fire Plume Ridge. This took some time tho'. Also gathered some Thorium there.

Truesilver Transformer - gathered the Elemental Earth and Elemental Air in Arathi Highlands, Truesilver-veins I find once and awhile being on adventure. It use to be some veins of different kind behind Stormgarde Keep (what is it called..?) in Arathi Highlands aswell, on the cliffs at the sea.

Thorium Widget - I find Thorium now and then as with Truesilver (like in Winterspring or Un'Goro), Runecloth drops from a lot humanoids all over Azeroth, like satyrs in Felwood and Furbolgs in Winterspring.

Better to do this than use 50-100g getting mats!

This trinked (and the other refelctor) will become less usefull with the comming of TBC. the new tool tip now says that it might sputter on players that use it above lvl 60.

I also like to point out that they don't share cooldown! you can use the shadow/fire/ice reflector at the same tine (only two of them ofc)

I am wondering, becouse thottbot doesn't say these devices share cooldown with it own kind, so it just might be that you can built 2 of them and have 10 sec refelction time! i don't know this for sure but i looked at the jumpercables and they do share cooldown with its own... it just might be.... i am gonna try it out by building a 2nd ice refelctor. if they do share cooldown with it own kind than i can always sell them:D

still the frost resistance will be great

I am at a 53 level on my first character and a guildy gave me this item, cuz he's got 15 or so trinks trying to help me out. i am not engineer, that means i can't use the item? says my skill level not high enough?

if this is the case which i think it is, is the item hard to sell/impossible, cuz an engineer would just make it for themself.

This is a very expensive trinket to make, particularly trying to get the blue sapphires (which are used in several other popular high-end items). But fortunately it is a trinket with unlimited uses, and you should be using it like a madman because so many mages are frost specced.

The effect only lasts five seconds. That means timing is everything. Does it work on frost nova? Wrong question! The right question is when do I activate it for the SHORT five seconds! The answer is: when you get hit with the frost nova.

When PvPing, things happen fast and furious. If you can time using this before a mage casts frost nova, I applaud you. But even then, who cares about reflecting frost nova? All it does is trap the mage. What you want to do is wait until you are trapped in the frost and the mage is casting that huge frost damage spell that they brag about getting 70% crit chance and 200% damage bonus with. Reflect that and kill him. Make a macro to use the trinket and /laugh for added fun.
