Don't buy this, getting exalted with the Lorewalkers is just a matter of running around clicking on scrolls. There are guides on the Lorewalkers page on this site that make it very easy.

Once one character reaches revered with the Lorewalkers, this item will be available from the Lorewalkers Quartermaster, and it will effect all characters on that account when used. This information is current as of 10-31-12.

Good news! Now your alts can get certified as official Lorewalkers of Pandaria after absorbing only HALF the amount of knowledge!

Anyone else getting a for-profit college vibe out of this?

New Grand Commendation items in Mist of Pandaria:

Alliance.

Horde.

Neutral (Both Alliance and Horde).

These Faction items are available for patch 5.1 except the Sunreaver and Krin Tor ones that are available for patch 5.2, you must be Revered with each faction if you want to buy this item.

Be warned! This item can be bought & used for more than once, though you won't get additional effect for the extra uses. Also, this is not refundable.

Grand Commendation of the Lorewalkers is sold by the The Lorewalkers Quartermaster, Tan Shin Tiao, for 37g50 at revered, 35g at exalted with /// 42g50 at revered, 38g at exalted without . The Quartermaster is located in Vale of the Eternal Blossom, at Mogu'shan Palace.

Grand Commendations becomes available for purchase at Revered reputation with a faction. The gain will affect that character's grind from Revered to Exalted as well as all future toons on that account (both factions, all realms, all battle.net accounts) for all rep levels, forever. The bonus stacks with both guild and human rep bonuses, doubling the amount of rep received after they are applied.

For example, a quest that gives a 250 base reputation gain (like this one) will give: 250 rep + 25 (guild) + 25 (human) = 300 rep * 2 (Grand Commendation) = 600 total rep

The item can be purchased and used more than once, but multiple uses will have no effect, so buyer beware. In order to see whether your account has a particular reputation bonus, open up the reputation tab of your character pane; reputations with the bonus will have a golden arrow on the right side of the reputation bar. Mousing over this golden arrow will reveal the text: "Bonus Reputation: Your account has unlocked bonus reputation gain with this faction." (updated for 5.2)

Once this item is purchased you must click on it to use it. You do NOT get the double rep by just having it in your bags.

Without Human Perk and Guild Perk
You get 1920 rep per achievement and 2850 rep per quest, totaling 4770 rep. You will need to do 9 out of the 10 achievements.
With the commendation, each achievement will give you 3840 rep, and each quest will give you 5700 rep, totaling 9540 rep.
This means, starting at 0/3000 Neutral, you'll only need to complete 5 out of the 10 achievements to get exalted.

With either perk
You get 2112 rep per achievement and 3135 rep per quest, totaling 5247 rep. You will need to do 9 out of the 10 achievements, as you'll be 24 rep short of exalted if you do 8.
With the commendation, each achievement will give you 4224 rep, and each quest will give you 6270 rep, totaling 10494 rep.
This means, starting at 0/3000 Neutral, you'll still need to complete 5 achievements out of the 10 achievements, as you'll be 24 rep short of exalted if you do 4.

With both perks
You get 2304 rep per achievement and 3420 rep per quest, totaling 5724 rep. You will need to complete 8 out of the 10 achievements.
With the commendation, each achievement will give you 4608 rep and each quest will give you 6840 rep, totaling 11448 rep.
This means, starting at 0/3000 Neutral, you'll only need to complete 4 achievements out of the 10 achievements to get exalted.

In case of confusion, the 10th achievement I am referring to is Legend of the Brewfathers. The other 9 are the achievements with the same icons, not including the 5.2 added ones. And please note that Legend of the Brewfathers does not give you a quest once completed.

Note: The perks I am referring to are Diplomacy and Mr. Popularity, not Mr. Popularity.

Sometime in Legion/BFA the gold arrow/icon showing your account had the commendation unlocked was removed. I am uncertain if this was intentional or an error, but I confirmed today (after much gold spent in vain) that my Exalted toon had indeed already purchased the Grand Commendation from the quartermaster for each of the Pandarian factions which sells the item. I removed all addons to confirm it wasn't a UI issue, but it is totally gone.

This commendation is still active (tested cross-faction on max and low-lv toons), it just doesn't show up for the player to see. Which is highly unfortunate given the tokens are re-purchasable and non-refundable. Re-purchasing and attempting to use the commendation causes a red error message to briefly flash in the center of the screen stating "Already commended by this faction". Players will thus need to keep manual track of these now in order to avoid losing gold.

I have left this same comment on the other Grand Commendation pages as well to help spread word of this situation.
