Why run Ulduar?

It's worth seeing - Ulduar is one of the classic raid of WoW; it looks great and has a wide variety of bosses and encounters.
Achievements - There are a lot of achievements to do in Ulduar. If you like to do achievements Ulduar will keep you busy for a long time.
Mimiron's Head (To have a chance at looting Mimiron's Head you have to kill Yogg-Saron on 25-player mode without any help from the Guardians)
Reins of the Rusted Proto-Drake (Achievement Reward)
Reins of the Ironbound Proto-Drake (Achievement Reward)
Val'anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings Fragments drop off all bosses. More fragments drop on 25-Player difficulty
Gold - If you loot and vendor everything that drops you can expect to gain about 700 - 900g. Since Ulduar has so many bosses, its helpful to bring a repair bot or vendor mount so you can clean out your bags once or twice during the run.

How long will it take?

A Ulduar veteran can finish the raid in 30 - 40 minutes. Someone who has never been to Ulduar before should give themselves about 1 1/2 hours.

Do note that, If you kill Auriaya in the Inner Sanctum, you don't need to go thru all the tunnel and pick up the tram to get to Spark of Imagination, once she's dead, just use the portal near Freya's area to port to it, it will be unlocked.
For Yogg Saron's fight I'd advice the person trying to solo it, to use any class ranged skills to down the Corruptor tentacles (the ones that stun you), and once inside his brain too. It speeds things up, and may help bypassing some harsh mechanics that may harass you (for example: If you're a melee trying to get to a tentacle to kill it with melee attacks, you may get gripped on your way by one of the Constrictors in a bad time, and worse the fight.).

Rogues: I use Shuriken talent (can be used while moving, 10-30 yds range)
DK: I prefer frost stance, because of Howling Blast.
Warrior: Any kind of weapon throw.
Druid Feral: spec to lunar inspiration talent (the solo wonders talent).
Pally: Tank spec, and use avenger shield + judgment.

These are just some skills I'd recommend when soloing ulduar with melee, specially Yogg Saron for Mimiron's Head. There was an issue with Shaman's shields bugging up the fight when a tentacle gripped you, the game crashes and disconnects right after Yogg comes out, or a bit after.

My brother and I had a lot of fun earning the mounts through the Glory of achievements. Even at high level, u have to follow the mechanics, which for some, takes some figuring out. Like how not to kill with a single blow :).

I have a quick tip for people who like to save time.

After Flame Leviathan, initiate the Razorscale fight by talking to the guy while on your mount. After talking to him, book it to Ignis, maneuvering through the adds on the way. When Ignis is down around 20% (he's not that hard to kill, really), activate your movement speed boosts, then kill him. Your speed boosts should still be up while you're looting the delicious epics. Because you killed him, all your cooldowns reset, thanks to technology. You still have your Dash/Sprint active, while you have 'another' Dash/Sprint ready to enable. Use these on the way back to Razorscale, and you should only have to wait a maximum of 2 more turret set-ups. Kill the dwarves before they kill the repair guys so you can continue the encounter.

Using boss cooldown resets is a sure-fire way to save some minutes on old raids.
